📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

And out of the house of Saul there was a servant, and his name was Siba, and they call him to David. And the king said to him: Are you Siba? And he said: I am your slave.
And the king said: Is there yet a man left of the house of Saul, that I may show him the mercy of God? And Siba said to the king: There is yet a son to Ionathan, stricken in his feet.
And Memphibosthe son of Ionathan son of Saul comes to King David, and he fell upon his face and did obeisance to him. And David said to him: Memphibosthe. And he said: Behold, your slave.
And David said to him: Do not fear, for in doing I will do mercy with you for the sake of Ionathan your father, and I will restore to you every field of Saul, your father's father, and you shall eat bread at my table continually.
And you shall work the land for him, you and your sons and your slaves, and you shall bring in loaves for your master's son, and he shall eat them. But Memphibosthe your master's son shall eat bread continually at my table. Now Siba had fifteen sons and twenty slaves.
And Siba said to the king: According to all that my lord the king has commanded his slave, so will your slave do. And Memphibosthe was eating at David's table like one of the king's sons.
