And it came about in the four hundred and fortieth year of the exodus of the sons of Israel out of Egypt, in the fourth year, in the second month, while King Salomon was reigning over Israel, that the king gave command, and they brought great costly stones for the foundation of the house, and unhewn stones. And Salomon's sons and Chiram's sons hewed them and set them in place. In the fourth year he laid the foundation of the house of the Lord, in the month Niso, the second month. In the eleventh year, in the month Baal, that is the eighth month, the house was finished according to all its specification and according to all its arrangement.
And the house that King Salomon built for the Lord: forty cubits its length, and twenty by the cubit its breadth, and twenty-five by the cubit its height.
And the porch in front of the temple: twenty by the cubit its length, matching the breadth of the house; and ten by the cubit its breadth in front of the house. And he built the house and finished it.

And he made for the house windows for looking out, hidden ones.
The lowest side-chamber, five cubits its breadth; and the middle, six; and the third, seven by the cubit its breadth; for he gave a setback to the house round about, outside the house, so that they should not take hold of the walls of the house.
And the house, when it was being built, was built with quarried stones left unworked; and hammer and axe and any iron tool were not heard in the house while it was being built.
And the gateway of the lowest side-chamber was under the right shoulder of the house; and there was a winding ascent to the middle story, and from the middle to the third story.
And he built the binding structures throughout the whole house, five by the cubit its height, and he fastened the binding structure with cedar timbers.
And he built the walls of the house with cedar timbers, from the floor of the house and up to the beams and up to the walls; he coffered it, held together with timbers within, and he enclosed the interior of the house with boards of pine.
And he built the twenty cubits from the end of the house, the one side, from the floor up to the beams; and he made out of the inner sanctuary the holy of holies.
And five cubits was the wing of the one cherub, and five cubits its second wing, ten by the cubit from the edge of its one wing to the edge of its other wing.
And both the cherubim were in the midst of the innermost house; and he spread out their wings, and the one wing touched the wall, and the other wing touched the second wall, and their wings that were in the midst of the house touched wing to wing.
And two doors of pine wood, and upon them were carvings engraved—cherubim and palm trees and spread-open petals—and he enclosed them with gold, and the gold came down upon the cherubim and upon the palm trees.
And he built the innermost court with three rows of unhewn stones and a row of dressed cedar round about. And he built the veil of the court of the porch of the house, the one in front of the temple.
