📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

For the vision still awaits an appointed time, and it will rise up at the end and not in vain. If it should be late, wait for him, because he who is coming will come and will not delay.
But the one soaked in wine, a scoffer, an arrogant man - he will accomplish nothing. He has widened his appetite like Hades, and like death he is never filled; he will gather to himself all the nations and receive to himself all the peoples.
Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a riddle for the telling of him? And they will say: Alas for the one who multiplies to himself what is not his own - how long? - and who weighs down his collar heavily.
Because you plundered many nations, all the peoples who are left will plunder you, because of human blood and the impiety done to the land and the city and all who dwell in it.
Drink your fill of dishonor instead of glory, you too; be shaken and reel. The cup of the right hand of the Lord has come around upon you, and dishonor has gathered upon your glory.
For the impiety of Lebanon will cover you, and the misery of wild animals will terrify you, because of human blood and the impiety done to the land and the city and all who dwell in it.
What use is a carved image, that they carved it? They formed it as a cast thing, a false phantom, because the one who formed it trusts in his own formation, making mute idols.
Alas for the one who says to the wood, Sober up, awake, and to the stone, Rise up. It is itself a phantom; this is a plating of gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in it.
