ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.

24:1
And David went up from there and dwelt in the strongholds of Engaddi.
And it came to pass, when Saul returned from following the Philistines, that it was reported to him, saying, David is in the wilderness of Engaddi.
And he took with him three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men before Sadaiem.
And he came to the flocks of the sheep that were by the road, and there was a cave there; and Saul went in to relieve himself, and David and his men were sitting farther inside the cave.
And David's men said to him, Behold, this is the day of which the Lord said to you, I will deliver your enemy into your hands, and you shall do to him as it is good in your eyes. And David arose and secretly cut off the skirt of Saul's mantle.
And it came to pass afterward that David's heart struck him, because he had cut off the skirt of his mantle.
And David said to his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord's anointed, to lay my hand upon him; for he is the Lord's anointed.
And David persuaded his men with words, and did not allow them to rise up and kill Saul. And Saul arose and went down to the road.
And afterward David arose and went out of the cave after him, and David cried out after Saul, saying, My lord the king! And Saul looked behind him, and David bowed with his face to the earth and did obeisance to him.
And David said to Saul, Why do you listen to the words of the people, who say, Behold, David seeks your life?
Behold, on this day your eyes have seen how the Lord delivered you today into my hand in the cave; and I would not kill you, but spared you, and said, I will not lay my hand upon my lord, for he is the Lord's anointed.
And behold, the skirt of your mantle is in my hand. I cut off the skirt and did not kill you. Know then and see today that there is no evil in my hand, nor impiety, nor treachery; and I have not sinned against you, yet you bind my life to take it.
May the Lord judge between me and you, and may the Lord avenge me on you; but my hand shall not be upon you.
As the ancient proverb says, From the lawless shall come forth transgression. But my hand shall not be upon you.
And now, after whom do you come out, king of Israel? After whom do you pursue? After a dead dog, and after a single flea.
May the Lord be judge and arbiter between me and between you; may the Lord look on and plead my cause, and judge for me against your hand.
And it came to pass, when David had finished speaking these words to Saul, that Saul said, Is this your voice, my child David? And Saul lifted up his voice and wept.
And Saul said to David, You are more righteous than I; for you have repaid me with good, but I have repaid you with evil.
And you have declared to me today the good things you have done to me, how the Lord shut me up in your hands today, and you did not kill me.
For if a man should find his enemy in trouble and send him away on a good road, then the Lord will repay him with good, as you have done today.
And now, behold, I know that you shall surely reign, and the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hands.
And now swear to me by the Lord that you will not destroy my seed after me, nor blot out my name from my father's house.
And David swore to Saul. And Saul departed to his place, but David and his men went up to the narrow place of Messara.
