21:1
וַיִּשְׁמַ֞ע הַכְּנַעֲנִ֤י מֶֽלֶךְ־עֲרָד֙ יֹשֵׁ֣ב הַנֶּ֔גֶב כִּ֚י בָּ֣א יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל דֶּ֖רֶךְ הָאֲתָרִ֑ים וַיִּלָּ֙חֶם֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיִּ֥שְׁבְּ׀מִמֶּ֖נּוּ שֶֽׁבִי׃
καὶ ἤκουσεν ὁ Χανανις βασιλεὺς Αραδ ὁ κατοικῶν κατὰ τὴν ἔρημον ἦλθεν γὰρ Ισραηλ ὁδὸν Αθαριν καὶ ἐπολέμησεν πρὸς Ισραηλ καὶ κατεπρονόμευσαν ἐξ αὐτῶν αἰχμαλωσίαν
Quod cum audisset Chananaeus rex Arad, qui habitabat ad meridiem, venisse scilicet Israël per exploratorum viam, pugnavit contra illum, et victor existens, duxit ex eo praedam.
ወሰምዐ ፡ ከናአን ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ አራድ ፡ ዘይነብር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ከመ ፡ መጽአ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ እንተ ፡ ፍኖተ ፡ አታርን ፡ ወተቀበሎሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ወማህረኩ ፡ እምኔሆሙ ፡ ፄዋ ።
The Canaanite, the king of Arad, who lived in the South, heard that Israel came by the way of Atharim. He fought against Israel, and took some of them captive.
21:2
וַיִּדַּ֨ר יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל נֶ֛דֶר לַֽיהֹוָ֖ה וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אִם־נָתֹ֨ן תִּתֵּ֜ן אֶת־הָעָ֤ם הַזֶּה֙ בְּיָדִ֔י וְהַֽחֲרַמְתִּ֖י אֶת־עָרֵיהֶֽם׃
καὶ ηὔξατο Ισραηλ εὐχὴν κυρίῳ καὶ εἶπεν ἐάν μοι παραδῷς τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον ὑποχείριον ἀναθεματιῶ αὐτὸν καὶ τὰς πόλεις αὐτοῦ
At Israël voto se Domino obligans, ait : Si tradideris populum istum in manu mea, delebo urbes ejus.
ወበፅዐ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ብፅዓተ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ለእመ ፡ አግብኦ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለዝንቱ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ሊተ ፡ አዐልሎ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ወለአህጉሪሁ ።
Israel vowed a vow to Yahweh, and said, “If you will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.”
21:3
וַיִּשְׁמַ֨ע יְהֹוָ֜ה בְּק֣וֹל יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וַיִּתֵּן֙ אֶת־הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י וַיַּחֲרֵ֥ם אֶתְהֶ֖ם וְאֶת־עָרֵיהֶ֑ם וַיִּקְרָ֥א שֵׁם־הַמָּק֖וֹם חׇרְמָֽה׃ {פ}
καὶ εἰσήκουσεν κύριος τῆς φωνῆς Ισραηλ καὶ παρέδωκεν τὸν Χανανιν ὑποχείριον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνεθεμάτισεν αὐτὸν καὶ τὰς πόλεις αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπεκάλεσαν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου ἀνάθεμα
Exaudivitque Dominus preces Israël, et tradidit Chananaeum, quem ille interfecit subversis urbibus ejus : et vocavit nomen loci illius Horma, id est, anathema.
ወሰምዐ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ቃሎ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ወአግብኦሙ ፡ ለከናአን ፡ ውስተ ፡ እደዊሆሙ ፡ ወአዕለልዎሙ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ወለአህጉሪሆሙ ፡ ወሰመዩ ፡ ስሞ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ መካን ፡ ማዕለልት ።
Yahweh listened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities. The name of the place was called Hormah.
21:4
וַיִּסְע֞וּ מֵהֹ֤ר הָהָר֙ דֶּ֣רֶךְ יַם־ס֔וּף לִסְבֹ֖ב אֶת־אֶ֣רֶץ אֱד֑וֹם וַתִּקְצַ֥ר נֶֽפֶשׁ־הָעָ֖ם בַּדָּֽרֶךְ׃
καὶ ἀπάραντες ἐξ Ωρ τοῦ ὄρους ὁδὸν ἐπὶ θάλασσαν ἐρυθρὰν περιεκύκλωσαν γῆν Εδωμ καὶ ὠλιγοψύχησεν ὁ λαὸς ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ
Profecti sunt autem et de monte Hor, per viam quae ducit ad mare Rubrum, ut circumirent terram Edom. Et taedere coepit populum itineris ac laboris :
ወግዕዙ ፡ (አፍአ ፡) እምነ ፡ ደብ[ረ ፡ ሆር ፡] መንገለ ፡ ፍኖተ ፡ ባሕረ ፡ ኤርትራ ፡ ወዖድዎ ፡ ለምድረ ፡ ኤዶም ፡ ወተቈጥዐ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ በፍኖት ።
They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. The soul of the people was very discouraged because of the journey.
21:5
וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר הָעָ֗ם בֵּֽאלֹהִים֮ וּבְמֹשֶׁה֒ לָמָ֤ה הֶֽעֱלִיתֻ֙נוּ֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם לָמ֖וּת בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר כִּ֣י אֵ֥ין לֶ֙חֶם֙ וְאֵ֣ין מַ֔יִם וְנַפְשֵׁ֣נוּ קָ֔צָה בַּלֶּ֖חֶם הַקְּלֹקֵֽל׃
καὶ κατελάλει ὁ λαὸς πρὸς τὸν θεὸν καὶ κατὰ Μωυσῆ λέγοντες ἵνα τί ἐξήγαγες ἡμᾶς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου ἀποκτεῖναι ἡμᾶς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ἄρτος οὐδὲ ὕδωρ ἡ δὲ ψυχὴ ἡμῶν προσώχθισεν ἐν τῷ ἄρτῳ τῷ διακένῳ
locutusque contra Deum et Moysen, ait : Cur eduxisti nos de Aegypto, ut moreremur in solitudine ? deest panis, non sunt aquae : anima nostra jam nauseat super cibo isto levissimo.
ወሐመይዎ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወለሙሴ ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ለምንት ፡ አውፃእከነ ፡ እምነ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትቅትለነ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ገዳም ፡ እስመ ፡ አልቦቱ ፡ እክ ለ ፡ ወአልቦቱ ፡ ማየ ፡ ወተቈጥዐት ፡ ነፍስነ ፡ በዝንቱ ፡ ኅብስት ፡ ዘአልቦ ፡ በቍዐ ።
The people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!”
21:6
וַיְשַׁלַּ֨ח יְהֹוָ֜ה בָּעָ֗ם אֵ֚ת הַנְּחָשִׁ֣ים הַשְּׂרָפִ֔ים וַֽיְנַשְּׁכ֖וּ אֶת־הָעָ֑ם וַיָּ֥מׇת עַם־רָ֖ב מִיִּשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν κύριος εἰς τὸν λαὸν τοὺς ὄφεις τοὺς θανατοῦντας καὶ ἔδακνον τὸν λαόν καὶ ἀπέθανεν λαὸς πολὺς τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ
Quam ob rem misit Dominus in populum ignitos serpentes, ad quorum plagas et mortes plurimorum,
ወፈነወ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አርዌ ፡ ምድር ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ዘይቀትሎሙ ፡ ወይነስኮሙ ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ወይመውቱ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ብዙኃን ፡ እምደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ።
Yahweh sent venomous snakes among the people, and they bit the people. Many people of Israel died.
21:7
וַיָּבֹא֩ הָעָ֨ם אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֜ה וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ חָטָ֗אנוּ כִּֽי־דִבַּ֤רְנוּ בַֽיהֹוָה֙ וָבָ֔ךְ הִתְפַּלֵּל֙ אֶל־יְהֹוָ֔ה וְיָסֵ֥ר מֵעָלֵ֖ינוּ אֶת־הַנָּחָ֑שׁ וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֥ל מֹשֶׁ֖ה בְּעַ֥ד הָעָֽם׃
καὶ παραγενόμενος ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἔλεγον ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν ὅτι κατελαλήσαμεν κατὰ τοῦ κυρίου καὶ κατὰ σοῦ εὖξαι οὖν πρὸς κύριον καὶ ἀφελέτω ἀφ’ ἡμῶν τὸν ὄφιν καὶ ηὔξατο Μωυσῆς πρὸς κύριον περὶ τοῦ λαοῦ
venerunt ad Moysen, atque dixerunt : Peccavimus, quia locuti sumus contra Dominum et te : ora ut tollat a nobis serpentes. Oravitque Moyses pro populo,
ወመጽአ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ አበስነ ፡ እስመ ፡ ሐመይናሁ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወለከኒ ፡ ጸሊ ፡ እንከሰ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወያሴስል ፡ እምኔነ ፡ አርዌ ፡ ምድር ።
The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against Yahweh and against you. Pray to Yahweh, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.
21:8
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֗ה עֲשֵׂ֤ה לְךָ֙ שָׂרָ֔ף וְשִׂ֥ים אֹת֖וֹ עַל־נֵ֑ס וְהָיָה֙ כׇּל־הַנָּשׁ֔וּךְ וְרָאָ֥ה אֹת֖וֹ וָחָֽי׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ποίησον σεαυτῷ ὄφιν καὶ θὲς αὐτὸν ἐπὶ σημείου καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν δάκῃ ὄφις ἄνθρωπον πᾶς ὁ δεδηγμένος ἰδὼν αὐτὸν ζήσεται
et locutus est Dominus ad eum : Fac serpentem aeneum, et pone eum pro signo : qui percussus aspexerit eum, vivet.
ወጸለየ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በእንተ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ግበር ፡ ለከ ፡ አርዌ ፡ ወአንብሮ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ይትኤመሩ ፡ ወእምከመ ፡ ነሰከ ፡ አርዌ ፡ ምድር ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘተነስከ ፡ ለይርአዮ ፡ ወለይኅየው ።
Yahweh said to Moses, “Make a venomous snake, and set it on a pole. It shall happen that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”
21:9
וַיַּ֤עַשׂ מֹשֶׁה֙ נְחַ֣שׁ נְחֹ֔שֶׁת וַיְשִׂמֵ֖הוּ עַל־הַנֵּ֑ס וְהָיָ֗ה אִם־נָשַׁ֤ךְ הַנָּחָשׁ֙ אֶת־אִ֔ישׁ וְהִבִּ֛יט אֶל־נְחַ֥שׁ הַנְּחֹ֖שֶׁת וָחָֽי׃
καὶ ἐποίησεν Μωυσῆς ὄφιν χαλκοῦν καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ σημείου καὶ ἐγένετο ὅταν ἔδακνεν ὄφις ἄνθρωπον καὶ ἐπέβλεψεν ἐπὶ τὸν ὄφιν τὸν χαλκοῦν καὶ ἔζη
Fecit ergo Moyses serpentem aeneum, et posuit eum pro signo : quem cum percussi aspicerent, sanabantur.
ወገብረ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ አርዌ ፡ ምድር ፡ ዘብርት ፡ ወአቀሞ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ይትኤመሩ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ እምከመ ፡ ነሰከ ፡ አርዌ ፡ ምድር ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ይኔጽሮ ፡ ለዝክቱ ፡ አርዌ ፡ ምድር ፡ ዘብርት ፡ ወየሐዩ ።
Moses made a serpent of bronze, and set it on the pole. If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the serpent of bronze, he lived.
21:10
וַיִּסְע֖וּ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּאֹבֹֽת׃
καὶ ἀπῆραν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ καὶ παρενέβαλον ἐν Ωβωθ
Profectique filii Israël castrametati sunt in Oboth.
ወግዕዙ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወኀደሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኦቦት ።
The children of Israel traveled, and encamped in Oboth.
21:11
וַיִּסְע֖וּ מֵאֹבֹ֑ת וַֽיַּחֲנ֞וּ בְּעִיֵּ֣י הָֽעֲבָרִ֗ים בַּמִּדְבָּר֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ עַל־פְּנֵ֣י מוֹאָ֔ב מִמִּזְרַ֖ח הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃
καὶ ἐξάραντες ἐξ Ωβωθ παρενέβαλον ἐν Αχελγαι ἐκ τοῦ πέραν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἥ ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον Μωαβ κατὰ ἀνατολὰς ἡλίου
Unde egressi fixere tentoria in Jeabarim, in solitudine quae respicit Moab contra orientalem plagam.
ወግዕዙ ፡ እምነ ፡ ኦቦት ፡ ወኀደሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኬልጋይ ፡ ማዕዶተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ እንተ ፡ አንጻረ ፡ ገጹ ፡ ለሞአብ ፡ መንገለ ፡ ምሥራቀ ፡ ፀሐይ ።
They traveled from Oboth, and encamped at Iyeabarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrise.
21:12
מִשָּׁ֖ם נָסָ֑עוּ וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ בְּנַ֥חַל זָֽרֶד׃
ἐκεῖθεν ἀπῆραν καὶ παρενέβαλον εἰς φάραγγα Ζαρετ
Et inde moventes, venerunt ad torrentem Zared.
ወግዕዙ ፡ እምህየ ፡ ወኀደሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቈላተ ፡ ዛሬት ።
From there they traveled, and encamped in the valley of Zered.
21:13
מִשָּׁם֮ נָסָ֒עוּ֒ וַֽיַּחֲנ֗וּ מֵעֵ֤בֶר אַרְנוֹן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר הַיֹּצֵ֖א מִגְּבֻ֣ל הָֽאֱמֹרִ֑י כִּ֤י אַרְנוֹן֙ גְּב֣וּל מוֹאָ֔ב בֵּ֥ין מוֹאָ֖ב וּבֵ֥ין הָאֱמֹרִֽי׃
καὶ ἐκεῖθεν ἀπάραντες παρενέβαλον εἰς τὸ πέραν Αρνων ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τὸ ἐξέχον ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων τῶν Αμορραίων ἔστιν γὰρ Αρνων ὅρια Μωαβ ἀνὰ μέσον Μωαβ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ Αμορραίου
Quem relinquentes castrametati sunt contra Arnon, quae est in deserto, et prominet in finibus Amorrhaei. Siquidem Arnon terminus est Moab, dividens Moabitas et Amorrhaeos.
ወግዕዙ ፡ እምህየ ፡ ወኀደሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ማዕዶተ ፡ አርኖን ፡ ዘይክዑ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ አድባር ፡ ዘአሞሬዎን ፡ እስመ ፡ ደወሎሙ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ለሞአብ ፡ ወማእከለ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ወማእከለ ፡ አሞሬዎን ፡ ውእቱ ።
From there they traveled, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites; for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
21:14
עַל־כֵּן֙ יֵֽאָמַ֔ר בְּסֵ֖פֶר מִלְחֲמֹ֣ת יְהֹוָ֑ה אֶת־וָהֵ֣ב בְּסוּפָ֔ה וְאֶת־הַנְּחָלִ֖ים אַרְנֽוֹן׃
διὰ τοῦτο λέγεται ἐν βιβλίῳ πόλεμος τοῦ κυρίου τὴν Ζωοβ ἐφλόγισεν καὶ τοὺς χειμάρρους Αρνων
Unde dicitur in libro bellorum Domini : Sicut fecit in mari Rubro, sic faciet in torrentibus Arnon.
ወበበይነ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ይብል ፡ ውስተ ፡ መጽሐፍ ፡ ፀብኡ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ አውዐያ ፡ ለዞዖም ።
Therefore it is said in The Book of the Wars of Yahweh, “Vaheb in Suphah, the valleys of the Arnon,
21:15
וְאֶ֙שֶׁד֙ הַנְּחָלִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָטָ֖ה לְשֶׁ֣בֶת עָ֑ר וְנִשְׁעַ֖ן לִגְב֥וּל מוֹאָֽב׃
καὶ τοὺς χειμάρρους κατέστησεν κατοικίσαι Ηρ καὶ πρόσκειται τοῖς ὁρίοις Μωαβ
Scopuli torrentium inclinati sunt, ut requiescerent in Ar, et recumberent in finibus Moabitarum.
ወአቀመ ፡ ወሓይዝተ ፡ አርኖን ፡ ዘሀለወ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዔር ፡ ዘይሰመይ ፡ ደወለ ፡ ሞአብ ።
the slope of the valleys that incline toward the dwelling of Ar, leans on the border of Moab.”
21:16
וּמִשָּׁ֖ם בְּאֵ֑רָה הִ֣וא הַבְּאֵ֗ר אֲשֶׁ֨ר אָמַ֤ר יְהֹוָה֙ לְמֹשֶׁ֔ה אֱסֹף֙ אֶת־הָעָ֔ם וְאֶתְּנָ֥ה לָהֶ֖ם מָֽיִם׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐκεῖθεν τὸ φρέαρ τοῦτό ἐστιν τὸ φρέαρ ὃ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν συνάγαγε τὸν λαόν καὶ δώσω αὐτοῖς ὕδωρ πιεῖν
Ex eo loco apparuit puteus, super quo locutus est Dominus ad Moysen : Congrega populum, et dabo ei aquam.
ወእምህየ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዐዘቅት ፤ ዐዘቅት ፡ ዘይቤሎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ አስተጋብእ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ ወእሁቦሙ ፡ ማየ ፡ ዘይሰትዩ ።
From there they traveled to Beer; that is the well of which Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.”
21:17
אָ֚ז יָשִׁ֣יר יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֶת־הַשִּׁירָ֖ה הַזֹּ֑את עֲלִ֥י בְאֵ֖ר עֱנוּ־לָֽהּ׃
τότε ᾖσεν Ισραηλ τὸ ᾆσμα τοῦτο ἐπὶ τοῦ φρέατος ἐξάρχετε αὐτῷ
Tunc cecinit Israël carmen istud : Ascendat puteus. Concinebant :
ይእተ ፡ አሚረ ፡ ኀለዩ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ዛተ ፡ ማኅሌተ ፡ በኀበ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ዐዘቅት ፡ አቅድሙ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ዐዘቅተ ፤
Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, well! Sing to it,
21:18
בְּאֵ֞ר חֲפָר֣וּהָ שָׂרִ֗ים כָּר֙וּהָ֙ נְדִיבֵ֣י הָעָ֔ם בִּמְחֹקֵ֖ק בְּמִשְׁעֲנֹתָ֑ם וּמִמִּדְבָּ֖ר מַתָּנָֽה׃
φρέαρ ὤρυξαν αὐτὸ ἄρχοντες ἐξελατόμησαν αὐτὸ βασιλεῖς ἐθνῶν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ κυριεῦσαι αὐτῶν καὶ ἀπὸ φρέατος εἰς Μανθαναιν
Puteus, quem foderunt principes et paraverunt duces multitudinis in datore legis, et in baculis suis. De solitudine, Matthana.
እንተ ፡ ከረይዋ ፡ መላእክት ፡ ወወቀርዋ ፡ ነገሥተ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ በምኵናኖሙ ፤ ወእምይአቲ ፡ ዐዘቅት ፡ ውስተ ፡ መንተናይን ።
the well, which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their poles.” From the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;
21:19
וּמִמַּתָּנָ֖ה נַחֲלִיאֵ֑ל וּמִנַּחֲלִיאֵ֖ל בָּמֽוֹת׃

ወእምነ ፡ መንተናይን ፡ ውስተ ፡ ናሐሊየል ፡ ወእምነ ፡ ናሐሊየል ፡ ውስተ ፡ ባሞት ።
and from Mattanah to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel to Bamoth;
21:20
וּמִבָּמ֗וֹת הַגַּיְא֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ בִּשְׂדֵ֣ה מוֹאָ֔ב רֹ֖אשׁ הַפִּסְגָּ֑ה וְנִשְׁקָ֖פָה עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הַיְשִׁימֹֽן׃ {פ}
καὶ ἀπὸ Βαμωθ εἰς νάπην ἥ ἐστιν ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ Μωαβ ἀπὸ κορυφῆς τοῦ λελαξευμένου τὸ βλέπον κατὰ πρόσωπον τῆς ἐρήμου
De Bamoth, vallis est in regione Moab, in vertice Phasga, quod respicit contra desertum.
ወእምነ ፡ ባሞት ፡ ውስተ ፡ አናጴን ፡ እንተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ዘሞአብ ፡ እምኀበ ፡ ርእሱ ፡ ለዘ ፡ ንዱቅ ፡ ዘይኔጽር ፡ መንገለ ፡ ገጸ ፡ ገዳም ።
and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the field of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looks down on the desert.
21:21
וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מַלְאָכִ֔ים אֶל־סִיחֹ֥ן מֶֽלֶךְ־הָאֱמֹרִ֖י לֵאמֹֽר׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Μωυσῆς πρέσβεις πρὸς Σηων βασιλέα Αμορραίων λόγοις εἰρηνικοῖς λέγων
Misit autem Israël nuntios ad Sehon regem Amorrhaeorum, dicens :
ወፈነወ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ተናብልተ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሴዎን ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ አሞሬዎን ፡ በቃለ ፡ ሰላም ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብል ፤
Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,
21:22
אֶעְבְּרָ֣ה בְאַרְצֶ֗ךָ לֹ֤א נִטֶּה֙ בְּשָׂדֶ֣ה וּבְכֶ֔רֶם לֹ֥א נִשְׁתֶּ֖ה מֵ֣י בְאֵ֑ר בְּדֶ֤רֶךְ הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ נֵלֵ֔ךְ עַ֥ד אֲשֶֽׁר־נַעֲבֹ֖ר גְּבֻלֶֽךָ׃
παρελευσόμεθα διὰ τῆς γῆς σου τῇ ὁδῷ πορευσόμεθα οὐκ ἐκκλινοῦμεν οὔτε εἰς ἀγρὸν οὔτε εἰς ἀμπελῶνα οὐ πιόμεθα ὕδωρ ἐκ φρέατός σου ὁδῷ βασιλικῇ πορευσόμεθα ἕως παρέλθωμεν τὰ ὅριά σου
Obsecro ut transire mihi liceat per terram tuam : non declinabimus in agros et vineas ; non bibemus aquas ex puteis : via regia gradiemur, donec transeamus terminos tuos.
ንኅልፍአ ፡ እንተአ ፡ ምድርከ ፡ ወመንገደ ፡ ነኀልፍ ፡ ወኢንትገሐሥ ፡ ኢውስተ ፡ ገራህት ፡ ወኢውስተ ፡ ዐጸደ ፡ ወይን ፡ ወኢንሰቲ ፡ ማየ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ዐዘቃቲከ ፡ ፍኖተ ፡ መጽያሕተ ፡ ነሐውር ፡ እስከአ ፡ ነሐልፍአ ፡ እምደወልከአ ።
“Let me pass through your land. We will not turn away into field or vineyard. We will not drink of the water of the wells. We will go by the king’s highway, until we have passed your border.”
21:23
וְלֹא־נָתַ֨ן סִיחֹ֣ן אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ עֲבֹ֣ר בִּגְבֻלוֹ֒ וַיֶּאֱסֹ֨ף סִיחֹ֜ן אֶת־כׇּל־עַמּ֗וֹ וַיֵּצֵ֞א לִקְרַ֤את יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ הַמִּדְבָּ֔רָה וַיָּבֹ֖א יָ֑הְצָה וַיִּלָּ֖חֶם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκεν Σηων τῷ Ισραηλ παρελθεῖν διὰ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτοῦ καὶ συνήγαγεν Σηων πάντα τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξῆλθεν παρατάξασθαι τῷ Ισραηλ εἰς τὴν ἔρημον καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς Ιασσα καὶ παρετάξατο τῷ Ισραηλ
Qui concedere noluit ut transiret Israël per fines suos : quin potius exercitu congregato, egressus est obviam in desertum, et venit in Jasa, pugnavitque contra eum.
ወኢአብሖሙ ፡ ሴዎን ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ይኅልፉ ፡ እንተ ፡ ደወሉ ፡ ወአስተጋብአ ፡ ሴዎን ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ሰብኦ ፡ ወወፅአ ፡ ይትቃተሉሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ወበጽሐ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኢየሰ ፡ ወተቃተሎሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ።
Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his border, but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness, and came to Jahaz. He fought against Israel.
21:24
וַיַּכֵּ֥הוּ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לְפִי־חָ֑רֶב וַיִּירַ֨שׁ אֶת־אַרְצ֜וֹ מֵֽאַרְנֹ֗ן עַד־יַבֹּק֙ עַד־בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֔וֹן כִּ֣י עַ֔ז גְּב֖וּל בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן׃
καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν Ισραηλ φόνῳ μαχαίρης καὶ κατεκυρίευσαν τῆς γῆς αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ Αρνων ἕως Ιαβοκ ἕως υἱῶν Αμμαν ὅτι Ιαζηρ ὅρια υἱῶν Αμμων ἐστίν
A quo percussus est in ore gladii, et possessa est terra ejus ab Arnon usque Jeboc, et filios Ammon : quia forti praesidio tenebantur termini Ammonitarum.
ወቀተልዎሙ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ቀትለ ፡ በኀፂን ፡ ወገብአ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ብሔሩ ፡ እምነ ፡ አርኖን ፡ እስከ ፡ ኢያቦቅ ፡ እስከ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ዐማን ፡ እስመ ፡ ኢያዜር ፡ ደወሎሙ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ ዐማን ።
Israel struck him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even to the children of Ammon; for the border of the children of Ammon was fortified.
21:25
וַיִּקַּח֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֵ֥ת כׇּל־הֶעָרִ֖ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּכׇל־עָרֵ֣י הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י בְּחֶשְׁבּ֖וֹן וּבְכׇל־בְּנֹתֶֽיהָ׃
καὶ ἔλαβεν Ισραηλ πάσας τὰς πόλεις ταύτας καὶ κατῴκησεν Ισραηλ ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσιν τῶν Αμορραίων ἐν Εσεβων καὶ ἐν πάσαις ταῖς συγκυρούσαις αὐτῇ
Tulit ergo Israël omnes civitates ejus, et habitavit in urbibus Amorrhaei, in Hesebon scilicet, et viculis ejus.
ወነሥአ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ኵሎን ፡ ውእቶን ፡ አህጉረ ፡ ወነበረ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ አህጉረ ፡ አሞሬዎን ፡ በሔሴቦን ፡ ወበኵሉ ፡ ደወላ ።
Israel took all these cities. Israel lived in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its villages.
21:26
כִּ֣י חֶשְׁבּ֔וֹן עִ֗יר סִיחֹ֛ן מֶ֥לֶךְ הָאֱמֹרִ֖י הִ֑וא וְה֣וּא נִלְחַ֗ם בְּמֶ֤לֶךְ מוֹאָב֙ הָֽרִאשׁ֔וֹן וַיִּקַּ֧ח אֶת־כׇּל־אַרְצ֛וֹ מִיָּד֖וֹ עַד־אַרְנֹֽן׃
ἔστιν γὰρ Εσεβων πόλις Σηων τοῦ βασιλέως τῶν Αμορραίων καὶ οὗτος ἐπολέμησεν βασιλέα Μωαβ τὸ πρότερον καὶ ἔλαβον πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ Αροηρ ἕως Αρνων
Urbs Hesebon fuit Sehon regis Amorrhaei, qui pugnavit contra regem Moab : et tulit omnem terram, quae ditionis illius fuerat usque Arnon.
እስመ ፡ ቦቱ ፡ በሔሴቦን ፡ አህጉረ ፡ ሴዎን ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ አሞሬዎን ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ዘፀብኦ ፡ ቀዲሙ ፡ ለንጉሠ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ወነሥአ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ምድሮ ፡ እምነ ፡ አሮኤር ፡ እስከ ፡ አርኖን ።
For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even to the Arnon.
21:27
עַל־כֵּ֛ן יֹאמְר֥וּ הַמֹּשְׁלִ֖ים בֹּ֣אוּ חֶשְׁבּ֑וֹן תִּבָּנֶ֥ה וְתִכּוֹנֵ֖ן עִ֥יר סִיחֽוֹן׃
διὰ τοῦτο ἐροῦσιν οἱ αἰνιγματισταί ἔλθετε εἰς Εσεβων ἵνα οἰκοδομηθῇ καὶ κατασκευασθῇ πόλις Σηων
Idcirco dicitur in proverbio : Venite in Hesebon : aedificetur, et construatur civitas Sehon :
ወበእንተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ይብሉ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ንግመጥስጤ ፡ [ሑ] ሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሔሴቦን ፡ ከመ ፡ ትትነደቅ ፡ ወይትገበር ፡ አህጉረ ፡ ሴዎን ።
Therefore those who speak in proverbs say, “Come to Heshbon. Let the city of Sihon be built and established;
21:28
כִּי־אֵשׁ֙ יָֽצְאָ֣ה מֵֽחֶשְׁבּ֔וֹן לֶהָבָ֖ה מִקִּרְיַ֣ת סִיחֹ֑ן אָֽכְלָה֙ עָ֣ר מוֹאָ֔ב בַּעֲלֵ֖י בָּמ֥וֹת אַרְנֹֽן׃
ὅτι πῦρ ἐξῆλθεν ἐξ Εσεβων φλὸξ ἐκ πόλεως Σηων καὶ κατέφαγεν ἕως Μωαβ καὶ κατέπιεν στήλας Αρνων
ignis egressus est de Hesebon, flamma de oppido Sehon, et devoravit Ar Moabitarum, et habitatores excelsorum Arnon.
እስመ ፡ እሳት ፡ ወፅአት ፡ እምነ ፡ ሔሴቦን ፡ ወነድ ፡ እምነ ፡ አህጉረ ፡ ሴዎን ፡ ወበልዐት ፡ እስከ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ወውሕጠት ፡ ሐውልተ ፡ አርኖን ።
for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, The lords of the high places of the Arnon.
21:29
אוֹי־לְךָ֣ מוֹאָ֔ב אָבַ֖דְתָּ עַם־כְּמ֑וֹשׁ נָתַ֨ן בָּנָ֤יו פְּלֵיטִם֙ וּבְנֹתָ֣יו בַּשְּׁבִ֔ית לְמֶ֥לֶךְ אֱמֹרִ֖י סִיחֽוֹן׃
οὐαί σοι Μωαβ ἀπώλου λαὸς Χαμως ἀπεδόθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτῶν διασῴζεσθαι καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες αὐτῶν αἰχμάλωτοι τῷ βασιλεῖ τῶν Αμορραίων Σηων
Vae tibi Moab ; peristi popule Chamos. Dedit filios ejus in fugam, et filias in captivitatem regi Amorrhaeorum Sehon.
አሌ ፡ ለ[ኪ] ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ሐጐልኪዮሙ ፡ ለሕዝበ ፡ ከሞስ ፡ እለ ፡ ገብኡ ፡ ወደቂቆሙሰ ፡ አድኀንክሙ ፡ ወአዋልዲሆሙ ፡ ተፄወዋ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሴዎን ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ አሞሬዎን ።
Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites.
21:30
וַנִּירָ֛ם אָבַ֥ד חֶשְׁבּ֖וֹן עַד־דִּיבֹ֑ן וַנַּשִּׁ֣ים עַד־נֹ֔פַח אֲשֶׁ֖רׄ עַד־מֵֽידְבָֽא׃
καὶ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτῶν ἀπολεῖται Εσεβων ἕως Δαιβων καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες ἔτι προσεξέκαυσαν πῦρ ἐπὶ Μωαβ
Jugum ipsorum disperiit ad Hesebon usque Dibon : lassi pervenerunt in Nophe, et usque Medaba.
ወዘርኦሙኒ ፡ ደምሰሶሙ ፡ ሔሴቦን ፡ እስከ ፡ ዴቦን ፡ ወአንስቲያሆሙኒ ፡ ዓዲ ፡ አንደዳ ፡ እሳተ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ሞአብ ።
We have shot at them. Heshbon has perished even to Dibon. We have laid waste even to Nophah, Which reaches to Medeba.”
21:31
וַיֵּ֙שֶׁב֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּאֶ֖רֶץ הָאֱמֹרִֽי׃
κατῴκησεν δὲ Ισραηλ ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσιν τῶν Αμορραίων
Habitavit itaque Israël in terra Amorrhaei.
ወነበረ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ አህጉረ ፡ አሞሬዎን ።
Thus Israel lived in the land of the Amorites.
21:32
וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח מֹשֶׁה֙ לְרַגֵּ֣ל אֶת־יַעְזֵ֔ר וַֽיִּלְכְּד֖וּ בְּנֹתֶ֑יהָ (ויירש) [וַיּ֖וֹרֶשׁ] אֶת־הָאֱמֹרִ֥י אֲשֶׁר־שָֽׁם׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Μωυσῆς κατασκέψασθαι τὴν Ιαζηρ καὶ κατελάβοντο αὐτὴν καὶ τὰς κώμας αὐτῆς καὶ ἐξέβαλον τὸν Αμορραῖον τὸν κατοικοῦντα ἐκεῖ
Misitque Moyses qui explorarent Jazer : cujus ceperunt viculos, et possederunt habitatores.
ወፈነወ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ይርአይዋ ፡ ለኢያዜር ፡ ወእምዝ ፡ አስተግብእዋ ፡ ምስለ ፡ አህጉሪሃ ፡ ወአውፅእዎሙ ፡ ለአሞሬዎን ፡ እለ ፡ ሀለው ፡ ህየ ።
Moses sent to spy out Jazer. They took its villages, and drove out the Amorites who were there.
21:33
וַיִּפְנוּ֙ וַֽיַּעֲל֔וּ דֶּ֖רֶךְ הַבָּשָׁ֑ן וַיֵּצֵ֣א עוֹג֩ מֶֽלֶךְ־הַבָּשָׁ֨ן לִקְרָאתָ֜ם ה֧וּא וְכׇל־עַמּ֛וֹ לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה אֶדְרֶֽעִי׃
καὶ ἐπιστρέψαντες ἀνέβησαν ὁδὸν τὴν εἰς Βασαν καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Ωγ βασιλεὺς τῆς Βασαν εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτοῖς καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς αὐτοῦ εἰς πόλεμον εἰς Εδραϊν
Verteruntque se, et ascenderunt per viam Basan, et occurrit eis Og, rex Basan, cum omni populo suo, pugnaturus in Edrai.
ወተመይጡ ፡ ወዐርጉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ፍኖተ ፡ ባሳን ፡ ወወፅአ ፡ ኣግ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ባሳን ፡ ወተቀበሎሙ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝቡ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይትቃተሎሙ ፡ [በ]አድራይን ።
They turned and went up by the way of Bashan. Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.
21:34
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֤ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה֙ אַל־תִּירָ֣א אֹת֔וֹ כִּ֣י בְיָדְךָ֞ נָתַ֧תִּי אֹת֛וֹ וְאֶת־כׇּל־עַמּ֖וֹ וְאֶת־אַרְצ֑וֹ וְעָשִׂ֣יתָ לּ֔וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֗יתָ לְסִיחֹן֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר יוֹשֵׁ֖ב בְּחֶשְׁבּֽוֹן׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν μὴ φοβηθῇς αὐτόν ὅτι εἰς τὰς χεῖράς σου παραδέδωκα αὐτὸν καὶ πάντα τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ καὶ ποιήσεις αὐτῷ καθὼς ἐποίησας τῷ Σηων βασιλεῖ τῶν Αμορραίων ὃς κατῴκει ἐν Εσεβων
Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen : Ne timeas eum, quia in manu tua tradidi illum, et omnem populum ac terram ejus : faciesque illi sicut fecisti Sehon, regi Amorrhaeorum habitatori Hesebon.
ወይቤሎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ኢትፍርሆ ፡ እስመ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እዴከ ፡ አገብኦ ፡ ወለኵሉ ፡ ሕዝቡ ፡ ወለኵሉ ፡ ምድሩ ፡ ወትገብሮ ፡ ከመ ፡ ገበርካሁ ፡ ለሴዎን ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ አሞሬዎን ፡ ዘይነብር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሔሴቦን ።
Yahweh said to Moses, “Don’t fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people, and his land. You shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”
21:35
וַיַּכּ֨וּ אֹת֤וֹ וְאֶת־בָּנָיו֙ וְאֶת־כׇּל־עַמּ֔וֹ עַד־בִּלְתִּ֥י הִשְׁאִֽיר־ל֖וֹ שָׂרִ֑יד וַיִּֽירְשׁ֖וּ אֶת־אַרְצֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ἕως τοῦ μὴ καταλιπεῖν αὐτοῦ ζωγρείαν καὶ ἐκληρονόμησαν τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν
Percusserunt igitur et hunc cum filiis suis, universumque populum ejus usque ad internecionem, et possederunt terram illius.
ወቀተሎ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ወለ ደቂቁ ፡ ወለኵሉ ፡ ሕዝቡ ፡ እስከ ፡ ኢአትረፈ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ነፋጺተ ፡ ወተወርሱ ፡ ምድሮሙ ።
So they struck him, with his sons and all his people, until there were no survivors; and they possessed his land.
