20:1
וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ בְנֵֽי־יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֠ל כׇּל־הָ֨עֵדָ֤ה מִדְבַּר־צִן֙ בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָֽרִאשׁ֔וֹן וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב הָעָ֖ם בְּקָדֵ֑שׁ וַתָּ֤מׇת שָׁם֙ מִרְיָ֔ם וַתִּקָּבֵ֖ר שָֽׁם׃
καὶ ἦλθον οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγή εἰς τὴν ἔρημον Σιν ἐν τῷ μηνὶ τῷ πρώτῳ καὶ κατέμεινεν ὁ λαὸς ἐν Καδης καὶ ἐτελεύτησεν ἐκεῖ Μαριαμ καὶ ἐτάφη ἐκεῖ
Veneruntque filii Israël et omnis multitudo in desertum Sin, mense primo, et mansit populus in Cades. Mortuaque est ibi Maria, et sepulta in eodem loco.
ወበጽሑ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ተዓይኒሆሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ዘ[ፂን] ፡ በቀዳሚ ፡ ወርኅ ፡ ወነበረ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቃዴስ ፡ ወሞተት ፡ በህየ ፡ ማርያም ፡ ወተቀብረት ፡ ህየ ።
The children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month. The people stayed in Kadesh. Miriam died there, and was buried there.
20:2
וְלֹא־הָ֥יָה מַ֖יִם לָעֵדָ֑ה וַיִּקָּ֣הֲל֔וּ עַל־מֹשֶׁ֖ה וְעַֽל־אַהֲרֹֽן׃
καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὕδωρ τῇ συναγωγῇ καὶ ἠθροίσθησαν ἐπὶ Μωυσῆν καὶ Ααρων
Cumque indigeret aqua populus, convenerunt adversum Moysen et Aaron :
ወኦልቦቱ ፡ ማየ ፡ ለትዕይንት ፡ ወተጋብኡ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ወላዕለ ፡ አሮን ።
There was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.
20:3
וַיָּ֥רֶב הָעָ֖ם עִם־מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ לֵאמֹ֔ר וְל֥וּ גָוַ֛עְנוּ בִּגְוַ֥ע אַחֵ֖ינוּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ ἐλοιδορεῖτο ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγοντες ὄφελον ἀπεθάνομεν ἐν τῇ ἀπωλείᾳ τῶν ἀδελφῶν ἡμῶν ἔναντι κυρίου
et versi in seditionem, dixerunt : Utinam periissemus inter fratres nostros coram Domino.
ወፀአልዎ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ኀየሰነ ፡ ንሙት ፡ በሞተ ፡ አኀዊነ ፡ በቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
The people quarreled with Moses, and spoke, saying, “We wish that we had died when our brothers died before Yahweh!
20:4
וְלָמָ֤ה הֲבֵאתֶם֙ אֶת־קְהַ֣ל יְהֹוָ֔ה אֶל־הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר הַזֶּ֑ה לָמ֣וּת שָׁ֔ם אֲנַ֖חְנוּ וּבְעִירֵֽנוּ׃
καὶ ἵνα τί ἀνηγάγετε τὴν συναγωγὴν κυρίου εἰς τὴν ἔρημον ταύτην ἀποκτεῖναι ἡμᾶς καὶ τὰ κτήνη ἡμῶν
Cur eduxistis ecclesiam Domini in solitudinem, ut et nos et nostra jumenta moriamur ?
ወለምንት ፡ አውፃእክሙ ፡ ትዕይንቶ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ከመ ፡ ትቅትሉነ ፡ ወለእንስሳነሂ ።
Why have you brought Yahweh’s assembly into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our animals?
20:5
וְלָמָ֤ה הֶֽעֱלִיתֻ֙נוּ֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם לְהָבִ֣יא אֹתָ֔נוּ אֶל־הַמָּק֥וֹם הָרָ֖ע הַזֶּ֑ה לֹ֣א׀ מְק֣וֹם זֶ֗רַע וּתְאֵנָ֤ה וְגֶ֙פֶן֙ וְרִמּ֔וֹן וּמַ֥יִם אַ֖יִן לִשְׁתּֽוֹת׃
καὶ ἵνα τί τοῦτο ἀνηγάγετε ἡμᾶς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου παραγενέσθαι εἰς τὸν τόπον τὸν πονηρὸν τοῦτον τόπος οὗ οὐ σπείρεται οὐδὲ συκαῖ οὐδὲ ἄμπελοι οὐδὲ ῥόαι οὐδὲ ὕδωρ ἐστὶν πιεῖν
quare nos fecistis ascendere de Aegypto, et adduxistis in locum istum pessimum, qui seri non potest, qui nec ficum gignit, nec vineas, nec malogranata, insuper et aquam non habet ad bibendum ?
ወለምንት ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ዘአውፃእክሙነ ፡ እምነ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ከመ ፡ ታምጽኡነ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ መካን ፡ እኩይ ፡ መካን ፡ ዘኢይዘ[ራ] እ ፡ ወዘአልቦ ፡ በለሰ ፡ ወአልቦቱ ፡ አዕጻደ ፡ ወይን ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ሮማን ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ማየ ፡ ለሰትይ ።
Why have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.”
20:6
וַיָּבֹא֩ מֹשֶׁ֨ה וְאַהֲרֹ֜ן מִפְּנֵ֣י הַקָּהָ֗ל אֶל־פֶּ֙תַח֙ אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ עַל־פְּנֵיהֶ֑ם וַיֵּרָ֥א כְבוֹד־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ {פ}
καὶ ἦλθεν Μωυσῆς καὶ Ααρων ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς συναγωγῆς ἐπὶ τὴν θύραν τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου καὶ ἔπεσαν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον καὶ ὤφθη ἡ δόξα κυρίου πρὸς αὐτούς
Ingressusque Moyses et Aaron, dimissa multitudine, tabernaculum foederis, corruerunt proni in terram, clamaveruntque ad Dominum, atque dixerunt : Domine Deus, audi clamorem hujus populi, et aperi eis thesaurum tuum fontem aquae vivae, ut satiati, cesset murmuratio eorum. Et apparuit gloria Domini super eos.
ወመጽኡ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ወአሮን ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጾሙ ፡ ለትዕይንት ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኆኅተ ፡ ደብተራ ፡ ዘመርጡል ፡ ወወድቁ ፡ በገጾሙ ፡ ወአስተርአየ ፡ ስብሐተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሎሙ ።
Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and fell on their faces. Yahweh’s glory appeared to them.
20:7
וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃
καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων
Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens :
ወነበቦ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፤
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
20:8
קַ֣ח אֶת־הַמַּטֶּ֗ה וְהַקְהֵ֤ל אֶת־הָעֵדָה֙ אַתָּה֙ וְאַהֲרֹ֣ן אָחִ֔יךָ וְדִבַּרְתֶּ֧ם אֶל־הַסֶּ֛לַע לְעֵינֵיהֶ֖ם וְנָתַ֣ן מֵימָ֑יו וְהוֹצֵאתָ֨ לָהֶ֥ם מַ֙יִם֙ מִן־הַסֶּ֔לַע וְהִשְׁקִיתָ֥ אֶת־הָעֵדָ֖ה וְאֶת־בְּעִירָֽם׃
λαβὲ τὴν ῥάβδον καὶ ἐκκλησίασον τὴν συναγωγὴν σὺ καὶ Ααρων ὁ ἀδελφός σου καὶ λαλήσατε πρὸς τὴν πέτραν ἔναντι αὐτῶν καὶ δώσει τὰ ὕδατα αὐτῆς καὶ ἐξοίσετε αὐτοῖς ὕδωρ ἐκ τῆς πέτρας καὶ ποτιεῖτε τὴν συναγωγὴν καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν
Tolle virgam, et congrega populum, tu et Aaron frater tuus, et loquimini ad petram coram eis, et illa dabit aquas. Cumque eduxeris aquam de petra, bibet omnis multitudo et jumenta ejus.
ንሥኣ ፡ ለእንታክቲ ፡ በትር ፡ ወአስተጋብኡ ፡ ትዕይንተ ፡ አንተ ፡ ወአሮን ፡ እኁከ ፡ ወበልዋ ፡ ለኰኵሕ ፡ በቅድሜሆሙ ፡ ወትሁብ ፡ ማያ ፡ ወታወፅኡ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ማየ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ኰኵሕ ፡ ወታሰትዩ ፡ ትዕይንተ ፡ ወእንስሳሆሙኒ ።
“Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it pour out its water. You shall bring water to them out of the rock; so you shall give the congregation and their livestock drink.”
20:9
וַיִּקַּ֥ח מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת־הַמַּטֶּ֖ה מִלִּפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּֽהוּ׃
καὶ ἔλαβεν Μωυσῆς τὴν ῥάβδον τὴν ἀπέναντι κυρίου καθὰ συνέταξεν κύριος
Tulit igitur Moyses virgam, quae erat in conspectu Domini, sicut praeceperat ei,
ወነሥአ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ በትር ፡ እንተ ፡ እምቅድሜሁ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ በከመ ፡ አዘዞ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
Moses took the rod from before Yahweh, as he commanded him.
20:10
וַיַּקְהִ֜לוּ מֹשֶׁ֧ה וְאַהֲרֹ֛ן אֶת־הַקָּהָ֖ל אֶל־פְּנֵ֣י הַסָּ֑לַע וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָהֶ֗ם שִׁמְעוּ־נָא֙ הַמֹּרִ֔ים הֲמִן־הַסֶּ֣לַע הַזֶּ֔ה נוֹצִ֥יא לָכֶ֖ם מָֽיִם׃
καὶ ἐξεκκλησίασεν Μωυσῆς καὶ Ααρων τὴν συναγωγὴν ἀπέναντι τῆς πέτρας καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς ἀκούσατέ μου οἱ ἀπειθεῖς μὴ ἐκ τῆς πέτρας ταύτης ἐξάξομεν ὑμῖν ὕδωρ
congregata multitudine ante petram : dixitque eis : Audite, rebelles et increduli : num de petra hac vobis aquam poterimus ejicere ?
ወአስተጋብእዎሙ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ወአሮን ፡ ለትዕይንት ፡ ቅድሜሃ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ኰኵሕ ፡ ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ስምዑኒ ፡ ከሓድያን ፡ ቦኑ ፡ እምነ ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ኰኵሕ ፡ ናወፅእ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ ማየ ።
Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Shall we bring water out of this rock for you?”
20:11
וַיָּ֨רֶם מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶת־יָד֗וֹ וַיַּ֧ךְ אֶת־הַסֶּ֛לַע בְּמַטֵּ֖הוּ פַּעֲמָ֑יִם וַיֵּצְאוּ֙ מַ֣יִם רַבִּ֔ים וַתֵּ֥שְׁתְּ הָעֵדָ֖ה וּבְעִירָֽם׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐπάρας Μωυσῆς τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπάταξεν τὴν πέτραν τῇ ῥάβδῳ δίς καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὕδωρ πολύ καὶ ἔπιεν ἡ συναγωγὴ καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν
Cumque elevasset Moyses manum, percutiens virga bis silicem, egressae sunt aquae largissimae, ita ut populus biberet et jumenta.
ወአልዐለ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ ወዘበጣ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ኰኵሕ ፡ በእንታክቲ ፡ በትር ፡ ካዕበ ፡ ወወፅአ ፡ ማይ ፡ ብዙኅ ፡ ወሰትዩ ፡ ትዕይንት ፡ ወእንሳሆሙኒ ።
Moses lifted up his hand, and struck the rock with his rod twice, and water came out abundantly. The congregation and their livestock drank.
20:12
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהֹוָה֮ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְאֶֽל־אַהֲרֹן֒ יַ֚עַן לֹא־הֶאֱמַנְתֶּ֣ם בִּ֔י לְהַ֨קְדִּישֵׁ֔נִי לְעֵינֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לָכֵ֗ן לֹ֤א תָבִ֙יאוּ֙ אֶת־הַקָּהָ֣ל הַזֶּ֔ה אֶל־הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥תִּי לָהֶֽם׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν καὶ Ααρων ὅτι οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε ἁγιάσαι με ἐναντίον υἱῶν Ισραηλ διὰ τοῦτο οὐκ εἰσάξετε ὑμεῖς τὴν συναγωγὴν ταύτην εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν δέδωκα αὐτοῖς
Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen et Aaron : Quia non credidistis mihi, ut sanctificaretis me coram filiis Israël, non introducetis hos populos in terram, quam dabo eis.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ወለአሮን ፡ እስመ ፡ ኢአመንክሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትቀድሱኒ ፡ ቅድሜሆሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ በበይነ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ኢታበውእዎሙ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ለዛቲ ፡ ትዕይንት ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ አነ ፡ ወሀብክዎሙ ።
Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you didn’t believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”
20:13
הֵ֚מָּה מֵ֣י מְרִיבָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־רָב֥וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֶת־יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיִּקָּדֵ֖שׁ בָּֽם׃ {ס}
τοῦτο ὕδωρ ἀντιλογίας ὅτι ἐλοιδορήθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἔναντι κυρίου καὶ ἡγιάσθη ἐν αὐτοῖς
Haec est aqua contradictionis, ubi jurgati sunt filii Israël contra Dominum, et sanctificatus est in eis.
ወዝንተ ፡ ማይ ፡ ዘቅስት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ እስመ ፡ ተዋቀሱ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
These are the waters of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with Yahweh, and he was sanctified in them.
20:14
וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח מֹשֶׁ֧ה מַלְאָכִ֛ים מִקָּדֵ֖שׁ אֶל־מֶ֣לֶךְ אֱד֑וֹם כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אָחִ֣יךָ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אַתָּ֣ה יָדַ֔עְתָּ אֵ֥ת כׇּל־הַתְּלָאָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר מְצָאָֽתְנוּ׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Μωυσῆς ἀγγέλους ἐκ Καδης πρὸς βασιλέα Εδωμ λέγων τάδε λέγει ὁ ἀδελφός σου Ισραηλ σὺ ἐπίστῃ πάντα τὸν μόχθον τὸν εὑρόντα ἡμᾶς
Misit interea nuntios Moyses de Cades ad regem Edom, qui dicerent : Haec mandat frater tuus Israël : Nosti omnem laborem qui apprehendit nos,
ወፈነወ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ መላእክተ ፡ እምነ ፡ ቃዴስ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ኤዶም ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብል ፡ ከመዝአ ፡ ይቤአ ፡ እኁከአ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ለሊከ ፡ ታአምር ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ሕማመነ ፡ ዘረከብነ ።
Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying: “Your brother Israel says: You know all the travail that has happened to us;
20:15
וַיֵּרְד֤וּ אֲבֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙ מִצְרַ֔יְמָה וַנֵּ֥שֶׁב בְּמִצְרַ֖יִם יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים וַיָּרֵ֥עוּ לָ֛נוּ מִצְרַ֖יִם וְלַאֲבֹתֵֽינוּ׃
καὶ κατέβησαν οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ παρῳκήσαμεν ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ ἡμέρας πλείους καὶ ἐκάκωσαν ἡμᾶς οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι καὶ τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν
quomodo descenderint patres nostri in Aegyptum, et habitaverimus ibi multo tempore, afflixerintque nos Aegyptii, et patres nostros :
ወወረዱ ፡ አበዊነ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወነበሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ብዙኀ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ ወሣቀዩነ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወለአበዊነሂ ።
how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we lived in Egypt a long time. The Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers.
20:16
וַנִּצְעַ֤ק אֶל־יְהֹוָה֙ וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע קֹלֵ֔נוּ וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח מַלְאָ֔ךְ וַיֹּצִאֵ֖נוּ מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם וְהִנֵּה֙ אֲנַ֣חְנוּ בְקָדֵ֔שׁ עִ֖יר קְצֵ֥ה גְבוּלֶֽךָ׃
καὶ ἀνεβοήσαμεν πρὸς κύριον καὶ εἰσήκουσεν κύριος τῆς φωνῆς ἡμῶν καὶ ἀποστείλας ἄγγελον ἐξήγαγεν ἡμᾶς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ νῦν ἐσμεν ἐν Καδης πόλει ἐκ μέρους τῶν ὁρίων σου
et quomodo clamaverimus ad Dominum, et exaudierit nos, miseritque angelum, qui eduxerit nos de Aegypto. Ecce in urbe Cades, quae est in extremis finibus tuis, positi,
ወጸራኅነ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወሰምዐ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ቃለነ ፡ ወፈነወ ፡ መልአኮ ፡ ወአውጽአነ ፡ እምነ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወይእዜኒ ፡ ሀለውነ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ቃደስ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደወለ ፡ ብሔርከ ።
When we cried to Yahweh, he heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the edge of your border.
20:17
נַעְבְּרָה־נָּ֣א בְאַרְצֶ֗ךָ לֹ֤א נַעֲבֹר֙ בְּשָׂדֶ֣ה וּבְכֶ֔רֶם וְלֹ֥א נִשְׁתֶּ֖ה מֵ֣י בְאֵ֑ר דֶּ֧רֶךְ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ נֵלֵ֗ךְ לֹ֤א נִטֶּה֙ יָמִ֣ין וּשְׂמֹ֔אול עַ֥ד אֲשֶֽׁר־נַעֲבֹ֖ר גְּבֻלֶֽךָ׃
παρελευσόμεθα διὰ τῆς γῆς σου οὐ διελευσόμεθα δῑ ἀγρῶν οὐδὲ δῑ ἀμπελώνων οὐδὲ πιόμεθα ὕδωρ ἐκ λάκκου σου ὁδῷ βασιλικῇ πορευσόμεθα οὐκ ἐκκλινοῦμεν δεξιὰ οὐδὲ εὐώνυμα ἕως ἂν παρέλθωμεν τὰ ὅριά σου
obsecramus ut nobis transire liceat per terram tuam. Non ibimus per agros, nec per vineas ; non bibemus aquas de puteis tuis : sed gradiemur via publica, nec ad dexteram nec ad sinistram declinantes, donec transeamus terminos tuos.
ወአኅልፈነ ፡ እንተ ፡ ምድርከ ፡ ወኢንኅልፍ ፡ እንተ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ገራኅት ፡ ወኢላዕለ ፡ አዕጻደ ፡ ወይን ፡ ወኢንሰቲ ፡ እምዐዘቃት ፡ ማየ ፤ ፍኖተ ፡ መጽያኅተ ፡ ነሐውር ፡ ወኢንትገሐሥ ፡ ኢለየማንአ ፡ ወኢለፀጋምአ ፡ እስከአ ፡ ነኀልፍአ ፡ እምደወልከአ ።
“Please let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink from the water of the wells. We will go along the king’s highway. We will not turn away to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your border.”
20:18
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ אֱד֔וֹם לֹ֥א תַעֲבֹ֖ר בִּ֑י פֶּן־בַּחֶ֖רֶב אֵצֵ֥א לִקְרָאתֶֽךָ׃
καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Εδωμ οὐ διελεύσῃ δῑ ἐμοῦ εἰ δὲ μή ἐν πολέμῳ ἐξελεύσομαι εἰς συνάντησίν σοι
Cui respondit Edom : Non transibis per me, alioquin armatus occurram tibi.
ወይቤሎ ፡ ኤዶም ፡ ኢተኀልፍአ ፡ እንተአ ፡ ላዕሌየ ፡ ወእመአኮሰአ ፡ ንትቃተልአ ፡ እወጽእ ፡ እትቀበልከአ ።
Edom said to him, “You shall not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against you.”
20:19
וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ אֵלָ֥יו בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ בַּֽמְסִלָּ֣ה נַעֲלֶה֒ וְאִם־מֵימֶ֤יךָ נִשְׁתֶּה֙ אֲנִ֣י וּמִקְנַ֔י וְנָתַתִּ֖י מִכְרָ֑ם רַ֥ק אֵין־דָּבָ֖ר בְּרַגְלַ֥י אֶֽעֱבֹֽרָה׃
καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ παρὰ τὸ ὄρος παρελευσόμεθα ἐὰν δὲ τοῦ ὕδατός σου πίωμεν ἐγώ τε καὶ τὰ κτήνη δώσω τιμήν σοι ἀλλὰ τὸ πρᾶγμα οὐδέν ἐστιν παρὰ τὸ ὄρος παρελευσόμεθα
Dixeruntque filii Israël : Per tritam gradiemur viam : et si biberimus aquas tuas, nos et pecora nostra, dabimus quod justum est : nulla erit in pretio difficultas, tantum velociter transeamus.
ወይቤልዎ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ እንተአ ፡ መንገለአ ፡ አድባር ፡ ንኅልፍ ፡ ወለእመኒ ፡ ሰተይነ ፡ እምነ ፡ ማይከ ፡ ንሕነ ፡ ወእንስሳነ ፡ ሤጦ ፡ ንሁበከ ፡ ወዝንቱሰ ፡ ኢኮነ ፡ ወኢምንተኒ ፡ እ ንተ ፡ መንገለ ፡ ደብርአ ፡ ንኅልፍአ ።
The children of Israel said to him, “We will go up by the highway; and if we drink your water, I and my livestock, then I will give its price. Only let me, without doing anything else, pass through on my feet.”
20:20
וַיֹּ֖אמֶר לֹ֣א תַעֲבֹ֑ר וַיֵּצֵ֤א אֱדוֹם֙ לִקְרָאת֔וֹ בְּעַ֥ם כָּבֵ֖ד וּבְיָ֥ד חֲזָקָֽה׃
ὁ δὲ εἶπεν οὐ διελεύσῃ δῑ ἐμοῦ καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Εδωμ εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτῷ ἐν ὄχλῳ βαρεῖ καὶ ἐν χειρὶ ἰσχυρᾷ
At ille respondit : Non transibis. Statimque egressus est obvius, cum infinita multitudo, et manu forti,
ወይቤ ፡ ኢትኅልፍአ ፡ እንተአ ፡ ላዕሌየአ ፤ ወወፅአ ፡ ኤዶም ፡ ተቀበሎ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ ክቡድ ፡ ወበእድ ፡ ጽንዕት ።
He said, “You shall not pass through.” Edom came out against him with many people, and with a strong hand.
20:21
וַיְמָאֵ֣ן׀ אֱד֗וֹם נְתֹן֙ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל עֲבֹ֖ר בִּגְבֻל֑וֹ וַיֵּ֥ט יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵעָלָֽיו׃ {פ}
καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν Εδωμ δοῦναι τῷ Ισραηλ παρελθεῖν διὰ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξέκλινεν Ισραηλ ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ
nec voluit acquiescere deprecanti, ut concederet transitum per fines suos. Quam ob rem divertit ab eo Israël.
ወኢፈቀደ ፡ ኤዶም ፡ የሀቦ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ምኅላፈ ፡ እንተ ፡ ደወሉ ፡ ወተግሕሰ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ እምኔሁ ።
Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border, so Israel turned away from him.
20:22
וַיִּסְע֖וּ מִקָּדֵ֑שׁ וַיָּבֹ֧אוּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל כׇּל־הָעֵדָ֖ה הֹ֥ר הָהָֽר׃
καὶ ἀπῆραν ἐκ Καδης καὶ παρεγένοντο οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγή εἰς Ωρ τὸ ὄρος
Cumque castra movissent de Cades, venerunt in montem Hor, qui est in finibus terrae Edom :
ወግዕዙ ፡ እምነ ፡ ቃዴስ ፡ ወኀደሩ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ትዕይንት ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብረ ፡ ሆር ።
They traveled from Kadesh, and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came to Mount Hor.
20:23
וַיֹּ֧אמֶר יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה וְאֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֖ן בְּהֹ֣ר הָהָ֑ר עַל־גְּב֥וּל אֶֽרֶץ־אֱד֖וֹם לֵאמֹֽר׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν καὶ Ααρων ἐν Ωρ τῷ ὄρει ἐπὶ τῶν ὁρίων γῆς Εδωμ λέγων
ubi locutus est Dominus ad Moysen :
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ወለአሮን ፡ በደብረ ፡ ሆር ፡ በመንገለ ፡ ደወለ ፡ ምድሩ ፡ ለኤዶም ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብል ፤
Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying,
20:24
יֵאָסֵ֤ף אַהֲרֹן֙ אֶל־עַמָּ֔יו כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יָבֹא֙ אֶל־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תִּי לִבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל עַ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־מְרִיתֶ֥ם אֶת־פִּ֖י לְמֵ֥י מְרִיבָֽה׃
προστεθήτω Ααρων πρὸς τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ὅτι οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν δέδωκα τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ διότι παρωξύνατέ με ἐπὶ τοῦ ὕδατος τῆς λοιδορίας
Pergat, inquit, Aaron ad populos suos : non enim intrabit terram, quam dedi filiis Israël, eo quod incredulus fuerit ori meo, ad aquas contradictionis.
ለይትወሰክ ፡ አሮን ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሕዝቡ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኢትበውኡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ አነ ፡ ወሀብክዎሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ እስመ ፡ አምዓዕክሙኒ ፡ በኀበ ፡ ማየ ፡ ቅስት ።
“Aaron shall be gathered to his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah.
20:25
קַ֚ח אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹ֔ן וְאֶת־אֶלְעָזָ֖ר בְּנ֑וֹ וְהַ֥עַל אֹתָ֖ם הֹ֥ר הָהָֽר׃
λαβὲ τὸν Ααρων καὶ Ελεαζαρ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀναβίβασον αὐτοὺς εἰς Ωρ τὸ ὄρος ἔναντι πάσης τῆς συναγωγῆς
Tolle Aaron et filium ejus cum eo, et duces eos in montem Hor.
ንሥኦ ፡ ለአሮን ፡ ወለእልዓዛር ፡ ወልዱ ፡ ወአዕርጎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብረ ፡ ሆር ፡ በቅድመ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ትዕይንት ።
Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up to Mount Hor;
20:26
וְהַפְשֵׁ֤ט אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹן֙ אֶת־בְּגָדָ֔יו וְהִלְבַּשְׁתָּ֖ם אֶת־אֶלְעָזָ֣ר בְּנ֑וֹ וְאַהֲרֹ֥ן יֵאָסֵ֖ף וּמֵ֥ת שָֽׁם׃
καὶ ἔκδυσον Ααρων τὴν στολὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔνδυσον Ελεαζαρ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ Ααρων προστεθεὶς ἀποθανέτω ἐκεῖ
Cumque nudaveris patrem veste sua, indues ea Eleazarum filium ejus : Aaron colligetur, et morietur ibi.
ወንሣእ ፡ አልባሲሁ ፡ ለአሮን ፡ እምላዕሌሁ ፡ ወአልብሶ ፡ ለአልዓዛር ፡ ወልዱ ፡ ወይትወሰክ ፡ አሮን ፡ ወይሙት ፡ በህየ ።
and strip Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron shall be gathered, and shall die there.”
20:27
וַיַּ֣עַשׂ מֹשֶׁ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֣ה יְהֹוָ֑ה וַֽיַּעֲלוּ֙ אֶל־הֹ֣ר הָהָ֔ר לְעֵינֵ֖י כׇּל־הָעֵדָֽה׃
καὶ ἐποίησεν Μωυσῆς καθὰ συνέταξεν κύριος καὶ ἀνεβίβασεν αὐτὸν εἰς Ωρ τὸ ὄρος ἐναντίον πάσης τῆς συναγωγῆς
Fecit Moyses ut praeceperat Dominus : et ascenderunt in montem Hor coram omni multitudine.
ወገብረ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ በከመ ፡ አዘዞ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወአዕረጎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብረ ፡ ሆር ፡ በቅድመ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ትዕይንት ።
Moses did as Yahweh commanded. They went up onto Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
20:28
וַיַּפְשֵׁט֩ מֹשֶׁ֨ה אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹ֜ן אֶת־בְּגָדָ֗יו וַיַּלְבֵּ֤שׁ אֹתָם֙ אֶת־אֶלְעָזָ֣ר בְּנ֔וֹ וַיָּ֧מׇת אַהֲרֹ֛ן שָׁ֖ם בְּרֹ֣אשׁ הָהָ֑ר וַיֵּ֧רֶד מֹשֶׁ֛ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֖ר מִן־הָהָֽר׃
καὶ ἐξέδυσεν Ααρων τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνέδυσεν αὐτὰ Ελεαζαρ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπέθανεν Ααρων ἐπὶ τῆς κορυφῆς τοῦ ὄρους καὶ κατέβη Μωυσῆς καὶ Ελεαζαρ ἐκ τοῦ ὄρους
Cumque Aaron spoliasset vestibus suis, induit eis Eleazarum filium ejus.
ወነሥአ ፡ አልባሲሁ ፡ ለአሮን ፡ እምላዕሌሁ ፡ ወአልበሶ ፡ ለእልዓዛር ፡ ወልዱ ፡ ወሞተ ፡ አሮን ፡ በውስተ ፡ ርእሰ ፡ ደብር ፡ ወወረዱ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ወእልዓዛር ፡ እምነ ፡ ደብር ።
Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron died there on the top of the mountain, and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
20:29
וַיִּרְאוּ֙ כׇּל־הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה כִּ֥י גָוַ֖ע אַהֲרֹ֑ן וַיִּבְכּ֤וּ אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹן֙ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים י֔וֹם כֹּ֖ל בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶδεν πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγὴ ὅτι ἀπελύθη Ααρων καὶ ἔκλαυσαν τὸν Ααρων τριάκοντα ἡμέρας πᾶς οἶκος Ισραηλ
Illo mortuo in montis supercilio, descendit cum Eleazaro.
ወርእዩ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ትዕይንት ፡ ከመ ፡ ሐለፈ ፡ አሮን ፡ ወበከይዎ ፡ ለአሮን ፡ ፴መዋዕለ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ።
When all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they wept for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.
20:30——
Omnis autem multitudo videns occubuisse Aaron, flevit super eo triginta diebus per cunctas familias suas.
