24:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ מַדּ֗וּעַ מִ֭שַּׁדַּי לֹא ־נִצְפְּנ֣וּ עִתִּ֑ים וְ֝יֹדְעָ֗ו לֹא ־חָ֥זוּ יָמָֽיו ׃
διὰ τί δὲ κύριον ἔλαθον ὧραι
Ab Omnipotente non sunt abscondita tempora : qui autem noverunt eum , ignorant dies illius .
ለምንት ፡ ይረስዖን ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሰዓታትየ ።
“Why aren’t times laid up by the Almighty? Why don’t those who know him see his days?
24:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ גְּבֻל֥וֹת יַשִּׂ֑יגוּ עֵ֥דֶר גָּ֝זְל֗וּ וַיִּרְעֽוּ ׃
ἀσεβεῖς δὲ ὅριον ὑπερέβησαν ποίμνιον σὺν ποιμένι ἁρπάσαντες
Alii terminos transtulerunt ; diripuerunt greges , et paverunt eos .
ወተዓደዉ ፡ ኃጥአን ፡ እም ፡ ወሰኖሙ ፡ ወመሰጡ ፡ ኖላዌ ፡ ምስለ ፡ መርዔቱ ።
There are people who remove the landmarks. They violently take away flocks, and feed them.
24:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ חֲמ֣וֹר יְתוֹמִ֣ים יִנְהָ֑גוּ יַ֝חְבְּל֗וּ שׁ֣וֹר אַלְמָנָֽה ׃
ὑποζύγιον ὀρφανῶν ἀπήγαγον καὶ βοῦν χήρας ἠνεχύρασαν
Asinum pupillorum abegerunt , et abstulerunt pro pignore bovem viduae .
ወሄዱ ፡ አድገ ፡ እጓለ ፡ ማውታ ፡ ወአኀዙ ፡ ላሕመ ፡ ፅቤር ።
They drive away the donkey of the fatherless, and they take the widow’s ox for a pledge.
24:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ יַטּ֣וּ אֶבְיֹנִ֣ים מִדָּ֑רֶךְ יַ֥חַד חֻ֝בְּא֗וּ עֲנִיֵּי ־אָֽרֶץ ׃
ἐξέκλιναν ἀδυνάτους ἐξ ὁδοῦ δικαίας ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἐκρύβησαν πραεῖς γῆς
Subverterunt pauperum viam , et oppresserunt pariter mansuetos terrae .
ወሜጥዎሙ ፡ ለድኩማን ፡ እምፍኖተ ፡ ጽድቅ ፡ ወተጋብኡ ፡ ኅቡረ ፡ የዋሃነ ፡ ምድር ።
They turn the needy out of the way. The poor of the earth all hide themselves.
24:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֵ֤ן פְּרָאִ֨ים ׀ בַּ֥מִּדְבָּ֗ר יָצְא֣וּ בְּ֭פׇעֳלָם מְשַׁחֲרֵ֣י לַטָּ֑רֶף עֲרָבָ֥ה ל֥וֹ לֶ֝֗חֶם לַנְּעָרִֽים ׃
ἀπέβησαν δὲ ὥσπερ ὄνοι ἐν ἀγρῷ ὑπὲρ ἐμοῦ ἐξελθόντες τὴν ἑαυτῶν πρᾶξιν ἡδύνθη αὐτῷ ἄρτος εἰς νεωτέρους
Alii quasi onagri in deserto egrediuntur ad opus suum : vigilantes ad praedam , praeparant panem liberis .
ወኮኑ ፡ ከመ ፡ አእዱግ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ በእንቱአየ ፡ ወዕኡ ፡ ወኃደጉ ፡ ተግባሮሙ ፡ ወጥዕሞሙ ፡ እክል ፡ እምንእሶሙ ።
Behold, as wild donkeys in the desert, they go out to their work, seeking diligently for food. The wilderness yields them bread for their children.
24:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ בַּ֭שָּׂדֶה בְּלִיל֣וֹ (יקצירו ) [יִקְצ֑וֹרוּ ] וְכֶ֖רֶם רָשָׁ֣ע יְלַקֵּֽשׁוּ ׃
ἀγρὸν πρὸ ὥρας οὐκ αὐτῶν ὄντα ἐθέρισαν ἀδύνατοι δὲ ἀμπελῶνας ἀσεβῶν ἀμισθὶ καὶ ἀσιτὶ ἠργάσαντο
Agrum non suum demetunt , et vineam ejus , quem vi oppresserint , vindemiant .
አኮኑ ፡ ገራህተ ፡ ዘኢኮነ ፡ ዚአሆሙ ፡ አረሩ ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ሰዓቱ ፡ ወቀነይዎሙ ፡ ለባሕታውያን ፡ ዓፀደ ፡ ወይኖሙ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ዓስብ ፡ ወዘእንበለ ፡ ሲሳይ ፡ ተዓገልዎሙ ፡ ኃጥአን ።
They cut their food in the field. They glean the vineyard of the wicked.
24:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ עָר֣וֹם יָ֭לִינוּ מִבְּלִ֣י לְב֑וּשׁ וְאֵ֥ין כְּ֝ס֗וּת בַּקָּרָֽה ׃
γυμνοὺς πολλοὺς ἐκοίμισαν ἄνευ ἱματίων ἀμφίασιν δὲ ψυχῆς αὐτῶν ἀφείλαντο
Nudos dimittunt homines , indumenta tollentes , quibus non est operimentum in frigore :
ወለብዙኃን ፡ ዕሩዋን ፡ አቤትዎሙ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ልብስ ፡ ወሰለብዎሙ ፡ አራዘ ፡ ነፍሶሙ ።
They lie all night naked without clothing, and have no covering in the cold.
24:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ מִזֶּ֣רֶם הָרִ֣ים יִרְטָ֑בוּ וּֽמִבְּלִ֥י מַ֝חְסֶ֗ה חִבְּקוּ ־צֽוּר ׃
ἀπὸ ψεκάδων ὀρέων ὑγραίνονται παρὰ τὸ μὴ ἔχειν αὐτοὺς σκέπην πέτραν περιεβάλοντο
quos imbres montium rigant , et non habentes velamen , amplexantur lapides .
ወያርሕሶሙ ፡ ነፍኒፍ ፡ ወጠለ ፡ ገዳም ፡ እስመ ፡ አልቦሙ ፡ ክዳን ፡ ወተከድኑ ፡ ጾላእተ ።
They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for lack of a shelter.
24:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ יִ֭גְזְלוּ מִשֹּׁ֣ד יָת֑וֹם וְֽעַל ־עָנִ֥י יַחְבֹּֽלוּ ׃
ἥρπασαν ὀρφανὸν ἀπὸ μαστοῦ ἐκπεπτωκότα δὲ ἐταπείνωσαν
Vim fecerunt depraedantes pupillos , et vulgum pauperem spoliaverunt .
ወመሰጡ ፡ እጓለ ፡ ማውታ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ጥቡ ፡ ወአሕመምዎን ፡ ለፅኑሳት ።
There are those who pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor,
24:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ עָר֣וֹם הִ֭לְּכוּ בְּלִ֣י לְב֑וּשׁ וּ֝רְעֵבִ֗ים נָ֣שְׂאוּ עֹֽמֶר ׃
γυμνοὺς δὲ ἐκοίμισαν ἀδίκως πεινώντων δὲ τὸν ψωμὸν ἀφείλαντο
Nudis et incedentibus absque vestitu , et esurientibus tulerunt spicas .
ወገፍዕዎሙ ፡ ለፅኑሳን ፡ ወነጽሕዎሙ ፡ ወሄድዎሙ ፡ ለርኁባን ፡ አፍእሞቶሙ ።
so that they go around naked without clothing. Being hungry, they carry the sheaves.
24:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ בֵּין ־שׁוּרֹתָ֥ם יַצְהִ֑ירוּ יְקָבִ֥ים דָּ֝רְכ֗וּ וַיִּצְמָֽאוּ ׃
ἐν στενοῖς ἀδίκως ἐνήδρευσαν ὁδὸν δὲ δικαίαν οὐκ ᾔδεισαν
Inter acervos eorum meridiati sunt , qui calcatis torcularibus sitiunt .
ወአሥርኅዎሙ ፡ ለምንዱባን ፡ ወተዓገልዎሙ ፡ ወኢያእመርዋ ፡ ጽድቅ ።
They make oil within the walls of these men. They tread wine presses, and suffer thirst.
24:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ מֵ֘עִ֤יר מְתִ֨ים ׀ יִנְאָ֗קוּ וְנֶֽפֶשׁ ־חֲלָלִ֥ים תְּשַׁוֵּ֑עַ וֶ֝אֱל֗וֹהַּ לֹֽא ־יָשִׂ֥ים תִּפְלָֽה ׃
οἳ ἐκ πόλεως καὶ οἴκων ἰδίων ἐξεβάλλοντο ψυχὴ δὲ νηπίων ἐστέναξεν μέγα αὐτὸς δὲ διὰ τί τούτων ἐπισκοπὴν οὐ πεποίηται
De civitatibus fecerunt viros gemere , et anima vulneratorum clamavit : et Deus inultum abire non patitur .
ወሰደድዎሙ ፡ እምአብያቲሆሙ ፡ ወእምአህጉሪሆሙ ፡ ወአግዓሩ ፡ ነፍሰ ፡ ሕፃናት ፡ ፈድፋደ ።
From out of the populous city, men groan. The soul of the wounded cries out, yet God doesn’t regard the folly.
24:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֵ֤מָּה ׀ הָיוּ֮ בְּֽמֹרְדֵ֫י ־א֥וֹר לֹא ־הִכִּ֥ירוּ דְרָכָ֑יו וְלֹ֥א יָ֝שְׁב֗וּ בִּנְתִיבֹתָֽיו ׃
ἐπὶ γῆς ὄντων αὐτῶν καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν ὁδὸν δὲ δικαιοσύνης οὐκ ᾔδεισαν οὐδὲ ἀτραποὺς αὐτῆς ἐπορεύθησαν
Ipsi fuerunt rebelles lumini : nescierunt vias ejus , nec reversi sunt per semitas ejus .
ለምንት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ኢገሠዖሙ ፡ ለእሉ ፡ አምጣነ ፡ ሀለዉ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወኢያእመርዋ ፡ ወኢርእይዋ ፡ ለፍኖተ ፡ ርትዕ ፡ ወኢሖሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መርኅባ ።
“These are of those who rebel against the light. They don’t know its ways, nor stay in its paths.
24:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ לָא֡וֹר יָ֘ק֤וּם רוֹצֵ֗חַ יִֽקְטׇל ־עָנִ֥י וְאֶבְי֑וֹן וּ֝בַלַּ֗יְלָה יְהִ֣י כַגַּנָּֽב ׃
γνοὺς δὲ αὐτῶν τὰ ἔργα παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς εἰς σκότος καὶ νυκτὸς ἔσται ὡς κλέπτης
Mane primo consurgit homicida ; interficit egenum et pauperem : per noctem vero erit quasi fur .
ወአእሚሮ ፡ ምግባሮሙ ፡ መጠዎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እደ ፡ ጽልመት ፡ ወተረሣዮሙ ፡ ሌሊተ ፡ ከመ ፡ ሰራቂ ።
The murderer rises with the light. He kills the poor and needy. In the night he is like a thief.
24:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְעֵ֤ין נֹאֵ֨ף ׀ שָׁ֤מְרָֽה ־נֶ֣שֶׁף לֵ֭אמֹר לֹא ־תְשׁוּרֵ֣נִי עָ֑יִן וְסֵ֖תֶר פָּנִ֣ים יָשִֽׂים ׃
καὶ ὀφθαλμὸς μοιχοῦ ἐφύλαξεν σκότος λέγων οὐ προσνοήσει με ὀφθαλμός καὶ ἀποκρυβὴν προσώπου ἔθετο
Oculus adulteri observat caliginem , dicens : Non me videbit oculus : et operiet vultum suum .
ዓይነ ፡ ዘማዊ ፡ ይጸንሕ ፡ ጽልመተ ፡ ወይብል ፡ አልቦ ፡ ዘይሬእየኒ ፡ ወይሤወር ፡ እምገጽ ፡፡ 16፡ ወይከሪ ፡ አብያተ ፡ በጽልመት ፡ መዓልታይትኃብኡ ፡ ወኢጥሬእዩ ፡ ብርሃነ ።
The eye also of the adulterer waits for the twilight, saying, ‘No eye will see me.’ He disguises his face.
24:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ חָתַ֥ר בַּחֹ֗שֶׁךְ בָּ֫תִּ֥ים יוֹמָ֥ם חִתְּמוּ ־לָ֗מוֹ לֹא ־יָ֥דְעוּ אֽוֹר ׃
διώρυξεν ἐν σκότει οἰκίας ἡμέρας ἐσφράγισαν ἑαυτούς οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν φῶς
Perfodit in tenebris domos , sicut in die condixerant sibi , et ignoraverunt lucem .
— In the dark they dig through houses. They shut themselves up in the daytime. They don’t know the light.
24:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֤י יַחְדָּ֨ו ׀ בֹּ֣קֶר לָ֣מוֹ צַלְמָ֑וֶת כִּֽי ־יַ֝כִּ֗יר בַּלְה֥וֹת צַלְמָֽוֶת ׃
ὅτι ὁμοθυμαδὸν τὸ πρωὶ αὐτοῖς σκιὰ θανάτου ὅτι ἐπιγνώσεται ταραχὰς σκιᾶς θανάτου
Si subito apparuerit aurora , arbitrantur umbram mortis : et sic in tenebris quasi in luce ambulant .
ወእምከመ ፡ ጸብሐ ፡ ይመስሎሙ ፡ ለኵሎሙ ፡ ጽላሎተ ፡ ሞት ፡ እስመ ፡ የአምሩ ፡ ሀከከ ፡ ዘይከውን ፡ ወይትሔዘቡ ፡ መዊተ ።
For the morning is to all of them like thick darkness, for they know the terrors of the thick darkness.
24:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ קַל ־ה֤וּא ׀ עַל ־פְּנֵי ־מַ֗יִם תְּקֻלַּ֣ל חֶלְקָתָ֣ם בָּאָ֑רֶץ לֹא ־יִ֝פְנֶ֗ה דֶּ֣רֶךְ כְּרָמִֽים ׃
ἐλαφρός ἐστιν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ὕδατος καταραθείη ἡ μερὶς αὐτῶν ἐπὶ γῆς
Levis est super faciem aquae : maledicta sit pars ejus in terra , nec ambulet per viam vinearum .
ወይጼለል ፡ ዲበ ፡ ገጸ ፡ ማይ ፡ ርጉም ፡ መክፈልቶሙ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ምድር ።
“They are foam on the surface of the waters. Their portion is cursed on the earth. They don’t turn into the way of the vineyards.
24:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ צִיָּ֤ה גַם ־חֹ֗ם יִגְזְל֥וּ מֵֽימֵי ־שֶׁ֗לֶג שְׁא֣וֹל חָטָֽאוּ ׃
ἀναφανείη δὲ τὰ φυτὰ αὐτῶν ἐπὶ γῆς ξηρά ἀγκαλίδα γὰρ ὀρφανῶν ἥρπασαν
Ad nimium calorem transeat ab aquis nivium , et usque ad inferos peccatum illius .
ወይሬእዩ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይየብስ ፡ ተክሎሙ ፡ በዲበ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወበርበርዎሙ ፡ ለእጓለ ፡ ማውታ ፡ እለ ፡ ቦ ።
Drought and heat consume the snow waters, so does Sheol those who have sinned.
24:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ יִשְׁכָּ֘חֵ֤הוּ רֶ֨חֶם ׀ מְתָ֘ק֤וֹ רִמָּ֗ה ע֥וֹד לֹֽא ־יִזָּכֵ֑ר וַתִּשָּׁבֵ֖ר כָּעֵ֣ץ עַוְלָֽה ׃
εἶτ’ ἀνεμνήσθη αὐτοῦ ἡ ἁμαρτία ὥσπερ δὲ ὁμίχλη δρόσου ἀφανὴς ἐγένετο ἀποδοθείη δὲ αὐτῷ ἃ ἔπραξεν συντριβείη δὲ πᾶς ἄδικος ἴσα ξύλῳ ἀνιάτῳ
Obliviscatur ejus misericordia ; dulcedo illius vermes : non sit in recordatione , sed conteratur quasi lignum infructuosum .
ወእምዝ ፡ ይዜከራ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ለኃጥአቱ ፡ ወይጠፍእ ፡ ከመ ፡ ጊሜ ፡ ወጠል ፡ ወይትፈደይ ፡ በከመ ፡ ገብረ ፡ ወይትቀጠቀጥ ፡ ከመ ፡ ዕፅ ፡ ብኍቡኍ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዓማፂ ፡፡ 21፡ ለመካንሂ ፡ ኢያሠነየ ፡ ወለእንተ ፡ ትወልድሂ ፡ ኢመሐረ ።
The womb will forget him. The worm will feed sweetly on him. He will be no more remembered. Unrighteousness will be broken as a tree.
24:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ רֹעֶ֣ה עֲ֭קָרָה לֹ֣א תֵלֵ֑ד וְ֝אַלְמָנָ֗ה לֹ֣א יְיֵטִֽיב ׃
στεῖραν γὰρ οὐκ εὖ ἐποίησεν καὶ γύναιον οὐκ ἠλέησεν
Pavit enim sterilem quae non parit , et viduae bene non fecit .
— He devours the barren who don’t bear. He shows no kindness to the widow.
24:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּמָשַׁ֣ךְ אַבִּירִ֣ים בְּכֹח֑וֹ יָ֝ק֗וּם וְֽלֹא ־יַאֲמִ֥ין בַּחַיִּֽין ׃
θυμῷ δὲ κατέστρεψεν ἀδυνάτους ἀναστὰς τοιγαροῦν οὐ μὴ πιστεύσῃ κατὰ τῆς ἑαυτοῦ ζωῆς
Detraxit fortes in fortitudine sua , et cum steterit , non credet vitae suae .
ወአንሐሎሙ ፡ በመዓቱ ፡ ለፅኑሳን ፡ ወተንሢኦ ፡ ኢይትአመና ፡ ለሕይወቱ ።
Yet God preserves the mighty by his power. He rises up who has no assurance of life.
24:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ יִתֶּן ־ל֣וֹ לָ֭בֶטַח וְיִשָּׁעֵ֑ן וְ֝עֵינֵ֗יהוּ עַל ־דַּרְכֵיהֶֽם ׃
μαλακισθεὶς μὴ ἐλπιζέτω ὑγιασθῆναι ἀλλὰ πεσεῖται νόσῳ
Dedit ei Deus locum poenitentiae , et ille abutitur eo in superbiam : oculi autem ejus sunt in viis illius .
ወለእመ ፡ ደወየ ፡ ኢይሴፎ ፡ ሐይወ ፡ ዳዕሙ ፡ ይወድቅ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ በሕማም ።
God gives them security, and they rest in it. His eyes are on their ways.
24:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ ר֤וֹמּוּ מְּעַ֨ט ׀ וְֽאֵינֶ֗נּוּ וְֽהֻמְּכ֗וּ כַּכֹּ֥ל יִקָּפְצ֑וּן וּכְרֹ֖אשׁ שִׁבֹּ֣לֶת יִמָּֽלוּ ׃
πολλοὺς γὰρ ἐκάκωσεν τὸ ὕψωμα αὐτοῦ ἐμαράνθη δὲ ὥσπερ μολόχη ἐν καύματι ἢ ὥσπερ στάχυς ἀπὸ καλάμης αὐτόματος ἀποπεσών
Elevati sunt ad modicum , et non subsistent : et humiliabuntur sicut omnia , et auferentur , et sicut summitates spicarum conterentur .
ወለብዙኃን ፡ አመንደቦሙ ፡ በሢመቱ ፡ ወይጸመሂ ፡ ከመ ፡ መሎኬ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ሐሩር ፡ ወከመ ፡ ሰዊት ፡ ዘይወድቅ ፡ ለሊሁ ፡ እምቀሪሙ ።
They are exalted; yet a little while, and they are gone. Yes, they are brought low, they are taken out of the way as all others, and are cut off as the tops of the ears of grain.
24:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאִם ־לֹ֣א אֵ֭פוֹ מִ֣י יַכְזִיבֵ֑נִי וְיָשֵׂ֥ם לְ֝אַ֗ל מִלָּתִֽי ׃ {פ}
εἰ δὲ μή τίς ἐστιν ὁ φάμενος ψευδῆ με λέγειν καὶ θήσει εἰς οὐδὲν τὰ ῥήματά μου
Quod si non est ita , quis me potest arguere esse mentitum , et ponere ante Deum verba mea ?
ወአመ ፡ አኮ ፡ መኑ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘይብለኒ ፡ ሐሳዊ ፡ እንተ ፡ ወይሬስዮ ፡ ከመ ፡ ወኢምንት ፡ ለነገርየ ።
If it isn’t so now, who will prove me a liar, and make my speech worth nothing?”
