1 Kings 7

And King Salomon sent and took Chiram from Tyre,

the son of a widow woman, and he was from the tribe of Nephthali, and his father was a Tyrian man, a worker in bronze; and he was filled with skill and understanding and knowledge to do every work in bronze. And he was brought to King Salomon, and he did all the works.

And he cast the two pillars for the porch of the house: eighteen cubits was the height of the pillar, and a circumference of fourteen cubits went round it; and the thickness of the pillar was four fingers, with hollows; and so was the second pillar.

And he made two capitals to set upon the heads of the pillars, cast of bronze: five cubits was the height of the one capital, and five cubits the height of the second capital.

And he made two nets to cover the capital of the pillars: a net for the one capital and a net for the second capital.

And there was hanging work: two rows of bronze pomegranates worked into the net, hanging work, row upon row; and so he made for the second capital.

And he set up the pillars of the porch of the temple; and he set up the one pillar and called its name Iachoum, and he set up the second pillar and called its name Baaz.

And upon the heads of the pillars was lily work, facing the porch, of four cubits.

And there was a beam upon both the pillars, and above the sides a capital; the beam according to its thickness.

And he made the sea, ten cubits from its brim to its brim, round all about, the same; five cubits was its height; and a gathered line of thirty-three cubits went round it.

And there were supports beneath its brim round about, encircling it, ten to the cubit round about, holding up the sea.

And its brim was like the work of a cup's brim, a lily bud; and its thickness was a handbreadth.

And there were twelve oxen under the sea: three looking toward the north, three looking toward the sea, three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east; and all their hinder parts were toward the house; and the sea was upon them above.

And he made ten bronze stands: five cubits was the length of the one stand, and four cubits its breadth, and six cubits its height.

And this was the work of the stands: they had closed panels, and closed panels between the projecting ledges.

And on their panels, between the projecting ledges, were lions and oxen and cheroubin; and on the projecting ledges likewise; and above and beneath the lions and the oxen were spaces, work that hung down.

And there were four bronze wheels to the one stand, and their fittings were of bronze; and their four parts were shoulder pieces beneath the lavers.

And there were axle arms in the wheels in the stand; and the height of the one wheel was a cubit and a half.

And the workmanship of the wheels was the workmanship of a chariot's wheels: their axle arms and their rims and all their fittings were all of them cast.

The four shoulder pieces were upon the four corners of the one stand; its shoulders were out of the stand itself.

And on the top of the stand there was half a cubit in size, round about upon the top of the stand; and there was the beginning of its arms and of its panels; and it opened upon the beginnings of its arms.

And its panels had cheroubin and lions and palm trees, standing, each one joined to the next, each facing inward, and so round about.

After this pattern he made all the ten stands: one arrangement and one measure for them all.

And he made ten bronze basins, the one basin holding forty choes by measure; one basin was upon each one of the ten stands.

And he set the ten stands: five by the shoulder of the house on the right and five by the shoulder of the house on the left; and the sea was by the shoulder of the house on the right, toward the east, on the south side.

And Chiram made the cauldrons and the fire tongs and the bowls; and Chiram finished making all the works that he made for King Salomon in the house of the Lord:

two pillars, and the twisted work of the pillars upon the heads of the pillars, two; and the two nets to cover both the twisted work of the carvings that were upon the pillars;

the four hundred pomegranates for both the nets, two rows of pomegranates for the one net, to cover over both the twisted works upon both the pillars;

and the ten stands, and the ten basins upon the stands;

and the one sea, and the twelve oxen beneath the sea;

and the cauldrons and the fire tongs and the bowls and all the vessels that Chiram made for King Salomon for the house of the Lord; and the forty-eight pillars of the king's house and of the house of the Lord. All the king's works that Chiram made were of bronze throughout.

There was no weighing of the bronze from which he made all these works, because of its very great abundance; there was no limit to the weight of the bronze.

In the region around the Jordan the king cast them, in the thick clay of the ground, between Sokchoth and Sira.

And King Salomon set in place the vessels that he made in the house of the Lord: the golden altar, and the table upon which were the loaves of the offering, of gold;

and the lampstands, five on the right and five on the left before the inner sanctuary, of solid gold; and the lamp holders and the lamps and the oil funnels, of gold;

and the door fronts and the nails and the bowls and the dishes and the censers, of solid gold; and the door frames of the doors of the innermost house, the holy of holies, and the doors of the house of the temple, of gold.

And all the work that Salomon did for the house of the Lord was completed. And Salomon brought in the holy things of Dauid his father and all the holy things of Salomon; the silver and the gold and the vessels he put into the treasuries of the house of the Lord.

And Salomon built his own house in thirteen years.

And he built the house of the Forest of Lebanon: a hundred cubits was its length, and fifty cubits its breadth, and thirty cubits its height; and it had three rows of cedar pillars, with cedar shoulder beams for the pillars.

And he panelled the house above upon the sides of the pillars; and the number of the pillars was forty-five, fifteen to the row.

And there were three beams, and space upon space in three tiers.

And all the doorways and the spaces were square, framed with beams; and from doorway to door in three tiers.

And the porch of the pillars was fifty cubits in length and thirty in breadth, joined together; a porch was in front of them, and pillars, and a thick beam in front of it for the porches.

And there was the porch of the thrones, where he would give judgment there, the porch of judgment.

And there was a house for him in which he would sit there; one court unfolded from these, according to this same work; and a house for the daughter of Pharao whom Salomon had taken, after the manner of this porch.

All these were of costly stones, hewn to measure, within, and from the foundation up to the copings, and outside toward the great court.

The court was founded with costly stones, great stones, stones of ten cubits and of eight cubits;

and above, with costly unhewn stones according to measure, and with cedars.

Around the great court were three rows of unhewn stones and a row of carved cedar.

And Salomon finished his whole house.
