14:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתִּשָּׂא֙ כׇּל ־הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה וַֽיִּתְּנ֖וּ אֶת ־קוֹלָ֑ם וַיִּבְכּ֥וּ הָעָ֖ם בַּלַּ֥יְלָה הַהֽוּא ׃
καὶ ἀναλαβοῦσα πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγὴ ἔδωκεν φωνήν καὶ ἔκλαιεν ὁ λαὸς ὅλην τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην
Igitur vociferans omnis turba flevit nocte illa ,
ወኀበረ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ተዓይን ፡ ወጸርሑ ፡ በቃል ፡ ወበከዩ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ሌሊተ ።
All the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.
14:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּלֹּ֙נוּ֙ עַל ־מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְעַֽל ־אַהֲרֹ֔ן כֹּ֖ל בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַֽיֹּאמְר֨וּ אֲלֵהֶ֜ם כׇּל ־הָעֵדָ֗ה לוּ ־מַ֙תְנוּ֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם א֛וֹ בַּמִּדְבָּ֥ר הַזֶּ֖ה לוּ ־מָֽתְנוּ ׃
καὶ διεγόγγυζον ἐπὶ Μωυσῆν καὶ Ααρων πάντες οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς αὐτοὺς πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγή ὄφελον ἀπεθάνομεν ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ ἢ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ταύτῃ εἰ ἀπεθάνομεν
et murmurati sunt contra Moysen et Aaron cuncti filii Israël , dicentes :
ወአንጐርጐሩ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ወላዕለ ፡ አሮን ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወይቤልዎሙ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ትዕይንት ፡ ኀየሰነ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ሞትነ ፡ በብሔረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ እምነ ፡ ንሙት ፡ በዝንቱ ፡ ገዳም ።
All the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. The whole congregation said to them, “We wish that we had died in the land of Egypt, or that we had died in this wilderness!
14:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְלָמָ֣ה יְ֠הֹוָ֠ה מֵבִ֨יא אֹתָ֜נוּ אֶל ־הָאָ֤רֶץ הַזֹּאת֙ לִנְפֹּ֣ל בַּחֶ֔רֶב נָשֵׁ֥ינוּ וְטַפֵּ֖נוּ יִהְי֣וּ לָבַ֑ז הֲל֧וֹא ט֦וֹב לָ֖נוּ שׁ֥וּב מִצְרָֽיְמָה ׃
καὶ ἵνα τί κύριος εἰσάγει ἡμᾶς εἰς τὴν γῆν ταύτην πεσεῖν ἐν πολέμῳ αἱ γυναῖκες ἡμῶν καὶ τὰ παιδία ἔσονται εἰς διαρπαγήν νῦν οὖν βέλτιον ἡμῖν ἐστιν ἀποστραφῆναι εἰς Αἴγυπτον
Utinam mortui essemus in Aegypto : et in hac vasta solitudine utinam pereamus , et non inducat nos Dominus in terram istam , ne cadamus gladio , et uxores ac liberi nostri ducantur captivi . Nonne melius est reverti in Aegyptum ?
ወለምንት ፡ ይወስደነ ፡ እግዚእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ከመ ፡ ንደቅ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ቀትል ፡ ወአንስቲያነኒ ፡ ወደቂቅነሂ ፡ ይከውኑ ፡ ሕብልያ ፡ ወይእዜኒ ፡ ይኄይሰነ ፡ ንግባእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ብሔረ ፡ ግብጽ ።
Why does Yahweh bring us to this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be captured or killed! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return into Egypt?”
14:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ אִ֣ישׁ אֶל ־אָחִ֑יו נִתְּנָ֥ה רֹ֖אשׁ וְנָשׁ֥וּבָה מִצְרָֽיְמָה ׃
καὶ εἶπαν ἕτερος τῷ ἑτέρῳ δῶμεν ἀρχηγὸν καὶ ἀποστρέψωμεν εἰς Αἴγυπτον
Dixeruntque alter ad alterum : Constituamus nobis ducem , et revertamur in Aegyptum .
ወተባሀሉ ፡ በበይናቲሆሙ ፡ ሀቡነ ፡ ናንግሥ ፡ ለነ ፡ ወንግባእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ብሔረ ፡ ግብጽ ።
They said to one another, “Let’s choose a leader, and let’s return into Egypt.”
14:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּפֹּ֥ל מֹשֶׁ֛ה וְאַהֲרֹ֖ן עַל ־פְּנֵיהֶ֑ם לִפְנֵ֕י כׇּל ־קְהַ֥ל עֲדַ֖ת בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
καὶ ἔπεσεν Μωυσῆς καὶ Ααρων ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐναντίον πάσης συναγωγῆς υἱῶν Ισραηλ
Quo audito , Moyses et Aaron ceciderunt proni in terram coram omni multitudine filiorum Israël .
ወወድቁ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ወአሮን ፡ በገጾሙ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ተዓይኒሆሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ።
Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
14:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וִיהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ בִּן ־נ֗וּן וְכָלֵב֙ בֶּן ־יְפֻנֶּ֔ה מִן ־הַתָּרִ֖ים אֶת ־הָאָ֑רֶץ קָרְע֖וּ בִּגְדֵיהֶֽם ׃
Ἰησοῦς δὲ ὁ τοῦ Ναυη καὶ Χαλεβ ὁ τοῦ Ιεφοννη τῶν κατασκεψαμένων τὴν γῆν διέρρηξαν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν
At vero Josue filius Nun et Caleb filius Jephone , qui et ipsi lustraverant terram , sciderunt vestimenta sua ,
ወኢያሱ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ነዌ ፡ ወእብ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዬፎኒ ፡ እለ ፡ እምውስቴቶሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ርእይዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ሠጠጡ ፡ አልባሲሆሙ ።
Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of those who spied out the land, tore their clothes.
14:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ אֶל ־כׇּל ־עֲדַ֥ת בְּנֵֽי ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר הָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָבַ֤רְנוּ בָהּ֙ לָת֣וּר אֹתָ֔הּ טוֹבָ֥ה הָאָ֖רֶץ מְאֹ֥ד מְאֹֽד ׃
καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς πᾶσαν συναγωγὴν υἱῶν Ισραηλ λέγοντες ἡ γῆ ἣν κατεσκεψάμεθα αὐτήν ἀγαθή ἐστιν σφόδρα σφόδρα
et ad omnem multitudinem filiorum Israël locuti sunt : Terra , quam circuivimus , valde bona est .
ወይቤልዎሙ ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ተዓይኒሆሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ምድርሰ ፡ እንተ ፡ ርኢነ ፡ ሠናይት ፡ ጥቀ ፡ ወፈድፋደ ።
They spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, “The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land.
14:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ אִם ־חָפֵ֥ץ בָּ֙נוּ֙ יְהֹוָ֔ה וְהֵבִ֤יא אֹתָ֙נוּ֙ אֶל ־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֔את וּנְתָנָ֖הּ לָ֑נוּ אֶ֕רֶץ אֲשֶׁר ־הִ֛וא זָבַ֥ת חָלָ֖ב וּדְבָֽשׁ ׃
εἰ αἱρετίζει ἡμᾶς κύριος εἰσάξει ἡμᾶς εἰς τὴν γῆν ταύτην καὶ δώσει αὐτὴν ἡμῖν γῆ ἥτις ἐστὶν ῥέουσα γάλα καὶ μέλι
Si propitius fuerit Dominus , inducet nos in eam , et tradet humum lacte et melle manantem .
ወለእመሰ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኀርየነ ፡ ከመ ፡ ያብአነ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወይሁበነሃ ፡ ለነ ፤ ምድር ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ለነ ፡ እንተ ፡ ትውሕዝ ፡ ሐሊበ ፡ ወመዓረ ።
If Yahweh delights in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it to us: a land which flows with milk and honey.
14:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ אַ֣ךְ בַּיהֹוָה֮ אַל ־תִּמְרֹ֒דוּ֒ וְאַתֶּ֗ם אַל ־תִּֽירְאוּ֙ אֶת ־עַ֣ם הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּ֥י לַחְמֵ֖נוּ הֵ֑ם סָ֣ר צִלָּ֧ם מֵעֲלֵיהֶ֛ם וַֽיהֹוָ֥ה אִתָּ֖נוּ אַל ־תִּירָאֻֽם ׃
ἀλλὰ ἀπὸ τοῦ κυρίου μὴ ἀποστάται γίνεσθε ὑμεῖς δὲ μὴ φοβηθῆτε τὸν λαὸν τῆς γῆς ὅτι κατάβρωμα ἡμῖν ἐστιν ἀφέστηκεν γὰρ ὁ καιρὸς ἀπ’ αὐτῶν ὁ δὲ κύριος ἐν ἡμῖν μὴ φοβηθῆτε αὐτούς
Nolite rebelles esse contra Dominum : neque timeatis populum terrae hujus , quia sicut panem ita eos possumus devorare . Recessit ab eis omne praesidium : Dominus nobiscum est , nolite metuere .
ወባሕቱ ፡ ኢትኩኑ ፡ ከሓድያነ ፡ በእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወኢትፍርህዎሙ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ለሕዝባ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ እስመ ፡ ንሕነ ፡ ናጠፍኦሙ ፡ ወእስመ ፡ ኀለፈ ፡ መዋዕሊሆሙ ፡ ወእስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሀለወ ፡ ምስሌነ ፡ ኢትፍርህዎሙ ።
Only don’t rebel against Yahweh, neither fear the people of the land; for they are bread for us. Their defense is removed from over them, and Yahweh is with us. Don’t fear them.”
14:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ כׇּל ־הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה לִרְגּ֥וֹם אֹתָ֖ם בָּאֲבָנִ֑ים וּכְב֣וֹד יְהֹוָ֗ה נִרְאָה֙ בְּאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד אֶֽל ־כׇּל ־בְּנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃ {פ}
καὶ εἶπεν πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγὴ καταλιθοβολῆσαι αὐτοὺς ἐν λίθοις καὶ ἡ δόξα κυρίου ὤφθη ἐν νεφέλῃ ἐπὶ τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ
Cumque clamaret omnis multitudo , et lapidibus eos vellet opprimere , apparuit gloria Domini super tectum foederis cunctis filiis Israël .
ወይቤሉ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ተዓይን ፡ ከመ ፡ ይወግርዎሙ ፡ በእብን ፡ ወአስተርአየ ፡ ስብሐተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በደመና ፡ ኀበ ፡ ደብተራ ፡ ዘመርጡል ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ።
But all the congregation threatened to stone them with stones. Yahweh’s glory appeared in the Tent of Meeting to all the children of Israel.
14:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֶל ־מֹשֶׁ֔ה עַד ־אָ֥נָה יְנַאֲצֻ֖נִי הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֑ה וְעַד ־אָ֙נָה֙ לֹא ־יַאֲמִ֣ינוּ בִ֔י בְּכֹל֙ הָֽאֹת֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשִׂ֖יתִי בְּקִרְבּֽוֹ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἕως τίνος παροξύνει με ὁ λαὸς οὗτος καὶ ἕως τίνος οὐ πιστεύουσίν μοι ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς σημείοις οἷς ἐποίησα ἐν αὐτοῖς
Et dixit Dominus ad Moysen : Usquequo detrahet mihi populus iste ? quousque non credent mihi , in omnibus signis quae feci coram eis ?
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ እስከ ፡ ማእዜኑ ፡ ይዌሕከኒ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወእስከ ፡ ማእዜኑ ፡ ኢየአምኑኒ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ ተአምርየ ፡ ዘገበርኩ ፡ ሎሙ ።
Yahweh said to Moses, “How long will this people despise me? How long will they not believe in me, for all the signs which I have worked among them?
14:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ אַכֶּ֥נּוּ בַדֶּ֖בֶר וְאוֹרִשֶׁ֑נּוּ וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂה֙ אֹֽתְךָ֔ לְגוֹי ־גָּד֥וֹל וְעָצ֖וּם מִמֶּֽנּוּ ׃
πατάξω αὐτοὺς θανάτῳ καὶ ἀπολῶ αὐτοὺς καὶ ποιήσω σὲ καὶ τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός σου εἰς ἔθνος μέγα καὶ πολὺ μᾶλλον ἢ τοῦτο
Feriam igitur eos pestilentia , atque consumam : te autem faciam principem super gentem magnam , et fortiorem quam haec est .
እቅትሎሙኑ ፡ በሞት ፡ ወአጥፍኦሙ ፡ ወእሬስየከ ፡ ለከ ፡ ወለቤተ ፡ አቡከ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ዐቢይ ፡ ዘይበዝኅ ፡ እምነ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ፈድፋደ ።
I will strike them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.”
14:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֖ה אֶל ־יְהֹוָ֑ה וְשָׁמְע֣וּ מִצְרַ֔יִם כִּֽי ־הֶעֱלִ֧יתָ בְכֹחֲךָ֛ אֶת ־הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֖ה מִקִּרְבּֽוֹ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Μωυσῆς πρὸς κύριον καὶ ἀκούσεται Αἴγυπτος ὅτι ἀνήγαγες τῇ ἰσχύι σου τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον ἐξ αὐτῶν
Et ait Moyses ad Dominum : Ut audiant Aegyptii , de quorum medio eduxisti populum istum ,
ወይቤሎ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይሰምዑ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ እለ ፡ እምኔሆሙ ፡ አውፃእኮሙ ፡ ለዝንቱ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ በኀይልከ ።
Moses said to Yahweh, “Then the Egyptians will hear it; for you brought up this people in your might from among them.
14:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאָמְר֗וּ אֶל ־יוֹשֵׁב֮ הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּאת֒ שָֽׁמְעוּ֙ כִּֽי ־אַתָּ֣ה יְהֹוָ֔ה בְּקֶ֖רֶב הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֑ה אֲשֶׁר ־עַ֨יִן בְּעַ֜יִן נִרְאָ֣ה ׀ אַתָּ֣ה יְהֹוָ֗ה וַעֲנָֽנְךָ֙ עֹמֵ֣ד עֲלֵהֶ֔ם וּבְעַמֻּ֣ד עָנָ֗ן אַתָּ֨ה הֹלֵ֤ךְ לִפְנֵיהֶם֙ יוֹמָ֔ם וּבְעַמּ֥וּד אֵ֖שׁ לָֽיְלָה ׃
ἀλλὰ καὶ πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ταύτης ἀκηκόασιν ὅτι σὺ εἶ κύριος ἐν τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ ὅστις ὀφθαλμοῖς κατ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς ὀπτάζῃ κύριε καὶ ἡ νεφέλη σου ἐφέστηκεν ἐπ’ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐν στύλῳ νεφέλης σὺ πορεύῃ πρότερος αὐτῶν τὴν ἡμέραν καὶ ἐν στύλῳ πυρὸς τὴν νύκτα
et habitatores terrae hujus , qui audierunt quod tu , Domine , in populo isto sis , et facie videaris ad faciem , et nubes tua protegat illos , et in columna nubis praecedas eos per diem , et in columna ignis per noctem :
ወይሰምዑ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስቴታ ፡ ለዛቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ከመ ፡ አንተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሀለውከ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወአንተ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ታስተርኢ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ከመዘ ፡ ዐይነ ፡ በዐይን ፡ ይትረአይ ፡ ወደመናከ ፡ ቆመት ፡ መልዕልቴሆሙ ፡ ወበዐምደ ፡ ደመና ፡ አንተ ፡ ሖርከ ፡ ቅድሜሆሙ ፡ መዐልተ ፡ ወበዐምደ ፡ እሳት ፡ ሌሊተ ።
They will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you Yahweh are among this people; for you Yahweh are seen face to face, and your cloud stands over them, and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.
14:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהֵמַתָּ֛ה אֶת ־הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֖ה כְּאִ֣ישׁ אֶחָ֑ד וְאָֽמְרוּ֙ הַגּוֹיִ֔ם אֲשֶׁר ־שָׁמְע֥וּ אֶֽת ־שִׁמְעֲךָ֖ לֵאמֹֽר ׃
καὶ ἐκτρίψεις τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον ὡσεὶ ἄνθρωπον ἕνα καὶ ἐροῦσιν τὰ ἔθνη ὅσοι ἀκηκόασιν τὸ ὄνομά σου λέγοντες
quod occideris tantam multitudinem quasi unum hominem , et dicant :
ወለእመ ፡ ቀጥቀጥካሁ ፡ ለዝንቱ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ከመዘ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ይብሉ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ እለ ፡ ይሰምዑ ፡ ስመከ ፡ ይብሉ ፤
Now if you killed this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of you will speak, saying,
14:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ מִבִּלְתִּ֞י יְכֹ֣לֶת יְהֹוָ֗ה לְהָבִיא֙ אֶת ־הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֔ה אֶל ־הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁר ־נִשְׁבַּ֣ע לָהֶ֑ם וַיִּשְׁחָטֵ֖ם בַּמִּדְבָּֽר ׃
παρὰ τὸ μὴ δύνασθαι κύριον εἰσαγαγεῖν τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν ὤμοσεν αὐτοῖς κατέστρωσεν αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ
Non poterat introducere populum in terram pro qua juraverat : idcirco occidit eos in solitudine ?
እስመ ፡ ስእነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አብኦቶሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ መሐለ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ቀተሎሙ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ገዳም ።
‘Because Yahweh was not able to bring this people into the land which he swore to them, therefore he has slain them in the wilderness.’
14:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְעַתָּ֕ה יִגְדַּל ־נָ֖א כֹּ֣חַ אֲדֹנָ֑י כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּ֖רְתָּ לֵאמֹֽר ׃
καὶ νῦν ὑψωθήτω ἡ ἰσχύς σου κύριε ὃν τρόπον εἶπας λέγων
Magnificetur ergo fortitudo Domini sicut jurasti , dicens :
ወይእዜኒ ፡ ለይትላዐል ፡ ኀይልከ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ በከመ ፡ ትቤ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ትብል ፤
Now please let the power of the Lord be great, according as you have spoken, saying,
14:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ יְהֹוָ֗ה אֶ֤רֶךְ אַפַּ֙יִם֙ וְרַב ־חֶ֔סֶד נֹשֵׂ֥א עָוֺ֖ן וָפָ֑שַׁע וְנַקֵּה֙ לֹ֣א יְנַקֶּ֔ה פֹּקֵ֞ד עֲוֺ֤ן אָבוֹת֙ עַל ־בָּנִ֔ים עַל ־שִׁלֵּשִׁ֖ים וְעַל ־רִבֵּעִֽים ׃
κύριος μακρόθυμος καὶ πολυέλεος καὶ ἀληθινός ἀφαιρῶν ἀνομίας καὶ ἀδικίας καὶ ἁμαρτίας καὶ καθαρισμῷ οὐ καθαριεῖ τὸν ἔνοχον ἀποδιδοὺς ἁμαρτίας πατέρων ἐπὶ τέκνα ἕως τρίτης καὶ τετάρτης
Dominus patiens et multae misericordiae , auferens iniquitatem et scelera , nullumque innoxium derelinquens , qui visitas peccata patrum in filios in tertiam et quartam generationem .
እግዚአብሔር ፡ ርሑቀ ፡ መዐት ፡ ወብዙኀ ፡ ምሕረት ፡ ወጻድቅ ፡ ዘየኀድግ ፡ ዐመፃ ፡ ወኀጢአተ ፡ ወጌጋየ ፡ ወአንጽሖኒ ፡ ኢያነጽሖ ፡ ለመአብስ ፡ ወይትፈደይ ፡ ኀጣይአ ፡ ወላዲ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ውሉድ ፡ እስከ ፡ ሣልስት ፡ ወራብዕት ፡ ትውልድ ።
‘Yahweh is slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, forgiving iniquity and disobedience; and he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation.’
14:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ סְלַֽח ־נָ֗א לַעֲוֺ֛ן הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֖ה כְּגֹ֣דֶל חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ וְכַאֲשֶׁ֤ר נָשָׂ֙אתָה֙ לָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֔ה מִמִּצְרַ֖יִם וְעַד ־הֵֽנָּה ׃
ἄφες τὴν ἁμαρτίαν τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ κατὰ τὸ μέγα ἔλεός σου καθάπερ ἵλεως αὐτοῖς ἐγένου ἀπ’ Αἰγύπτου ἕως τοῦ νῦν
Dimitte , obsecro , peccatum populi hujus secundum magnitudinem misericordiae tuae , sicut propitius fuisti egredientibus de Aegypto usque ad locum istum .
ኅድግ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ኀጣይኢሆሙ ፡ ለዝንቱ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ በከመ ፡ ዕበየ ፡ ምሕረትከ ፡ ወበከመ ፡ መሓሬ ፡ ኮንከ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ እምነ ፡ ብሔረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ እስከ ፡ ይእዜ ።
Please pardon the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of your loving kindness, and just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.”
14:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהֹוָ֔ה סָלַ֖חְתִּי כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἵλεως αὐτοῖς εἰμι κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμά σου
Dixitque Dominus : Dimisi juxta verbum tuum .
ወይቤሎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ናሁ ፡ ምህርክዎሙ ፡ በከመ ፡ ትቤ ።
Yahweh said, “I have pardoned according to your word;
14:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאוּלָ֖ם חַי ־אָ֑נִי וְיִמָּלֵ֥א כְבוֹד ־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶת ־כׇּל ־הָאָֽרֶץ ׃
ἀλλὰ ζῶ ἐγὼ καὶ ζῶν τὸ ὄνομά μου καὶ ἐμπλήσει ἡ δόξα κυρίου πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν
Vivo ego : et implebitur gloria Domini universa terra .
አላ ፡ ሕያው ፡ አነ ፡ ወሕያው ፡ ስምየ ፡ ወይመልእ ፡ ስብሐቲሁ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ምድረ ፤
but in very deed—as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with Yahweh’s glory—
14:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֣י כׇל ־הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים הָרֹאִ֤ים אֶת ־כְּבֹדִי֙ וְאֶת ־אֹ֣תֹתַ֔י אֲשֶׁר ־עָשִׂ֥יתִי בְמִצְרַ֖יִם וּבַמִּדְבָּ֑ר וַיְנַסּ֣וּ אֹתִ֗י זֶ֚ה עֶ֣שֶׂר פְּעָמִ֔ים וְלֹ֥א שָׁמְע֖וּ בְּקוֹלִֽי ׃
ὅτι πάντες οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ ὁρῶντες τὴν δόξαν μου καὶ τὰ σημεῖα ἃ ἐποίησα ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ταύτῃ καὶ ἐπείρασάν με τοῦτο δέκατον καὶ οὐκ εἰσήκουσάν μου τῆς φωνῆς
Attamen omnes homines qui viderunt majestatem meam , et signa quae feci in Aegypto et in solitudine , et tentaverunt me jam per decem vices , nec obedierunt voci meae ,
ከመ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ ዕደው ፡ እለ ፡ ርእይዎ ፡ ለስብሐቲየ ፡ ወለተአምርየ ፡ ዘገበርኩ ፡ [በ ]ብሔረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ [ወበገዳም ፡] ወእምዝ ፡ አመከሩኒ ፡ ናሁ ፡ ዓሥር ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ወኢሰምዑ ፡ ቃልየ ፤
because all those men who have seen my glory and my signs, which I worked in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not listened to my voice;
14:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ אִם ־יִרְאוּ֙ אֶת ־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִשְׁבַּ֖עְתִּי לַאֲבֹתָ֑ם וְכׇל ־מְנַאֲצַ֖י לֹ֥א יִרְאֽוּהָ ׃
ἦ μὴν οὐκ ὄψονται τὴν γῆν ἣν ὤμοσα τοῖς πατράσιν αὐτῶν ἀλλ’ ἢ τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν ἅ ἐστιν μετ’ ἐμοῦ ὧδε ὅσοι οὐκ οἴδασιν ἀγαθὸν οὐδὲ κακόν πᾶς νεώτερος ἄπειρος τούτοις δώσω τὴν γῆν πάντες δὲ οἱ παροξύναντές με οὐκ ὄψονται αὐτήν
non videbunt terram pro qua juravi patribus eorum , nec quisquam ex illis qui detraxit mihi , intuebitur eam .
ከመ ፡ ኢይሬእይዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ መሐልኩ ፡ ለአበዊሆሙ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ውሉዶሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ሀለው ፡ ምስሌየ ፡ ዝየ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ኢያአምሩ ፡ ሠናይተ ፡ ወእኪተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ንኡስ ፡ ዘአልቦ ፡ ዘያአምር ፡ ሎሙ ፡ እሁባ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወኵሎሙ ፡ ባሕቱ ፡ እለ ፡ ወሐኩኒ ፡ ኢይሬእይዋ ።
surely they shall not see the land which I swore to their fathers, neither shall any of those who despised me see it.
14:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְעַבְדִּ֣י כָלֵ֗ב עֵ֣קֶב הָֽיְתָ֞ה ר֤וּחַ אַחֶ֙רֶת֙ עִמּ֔וֹ וַיְמַלֵּ֖א אַחֲרָ֑י וַהֲבִֽיאֹתִ֗יו אֶל ־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ אֲשֶׁר ־בָּ֣א שָׁ֔מָּה וְזַרְע֖וֹ יוֹרִשֶֽׁנָּה ׃
ὁ δὲ παῖς μου Χαλεβ ὅτι ἐγενήθη πνεῦμα ἕτερον ἐν αὐτῷ καὶ ἐπηκολούθησέν μοι εἰσάξω αὐτὸν εἰς τὴν γῆν εἰς ἣν εἰσῆλθεν ἐκεῖ καὶ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ κληρονομήσει αὐτήν
Servum meum Caleb , qui plenus alio spiritu secutus est me , inducam in terram hanc , quam circuivit ; et semen ejus possidebit eam .
ወቍልዔየ ፡ ባሕቱ ፡ ካሌብ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኮነ ፡ ካልእ ፡ መንፈስ ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ ወተለወኒ ፡ አበውኦ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ ውስቴታ ፡ ቦአ ፡ ህየ ፡ ወዘርኡ ፡ ይትዋረሳ ።
But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and has followed me fully, him I will bring into the land into which he went. His offspring shall possess it.
14:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהָעֲמָלֵקִ֥י וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י יוֹשֵׁ֣ב בָּעֵ֑מֶק מָחָ֗ר פְּנ֨וּ וּסְע֥וּ לָכֶ֛ם הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר דֶּ֥רֶךְ יַם ־סֽוּף ׃ {פ}
ὁ δὲ Αμαληκ καὶ ὁ Χαναναῖος κατοικοῦσιν ἐν τῇ κοιλάδι αὔριον ἐπιστράφητε ὑμεῖς καὶ ἀπάρατε εἰς τὴν ἔρημον ὁδὸν θάλασσαν ἐρυθράν
Quoniam Amalecites et Chananaeus habitant in vallibus . Cras movete castra , et revertimini in solitudinem per viam maris Rubri .
ወዐማሌቅ ፡ ወከናአን ፡ ንቡራን ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቈላተ ፡ አውርዮን ፤ ወአንትሙሰ ፡ ገዐዙ ፡ ወግ ብኡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ዘፍኖተ ፡ ባሕረ ፡ ኤርትራ ።
Since the Amalekite and the Canaanite dwell in the valley, tomorrow turn and go into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.”
14:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה אֶל ־מֹשֶׁ֥ה וְאֶֽל ־אַהֲרֹ֖ן לֵאמֹֽר ׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν καὶ Ααρων λέγων
Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen et Aaron , dicens :
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ወለአሮን ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብል ፤
Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
14:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ עַד ־מָתַ֗י לָעֵדָ֤ה הָֽרָעָה֙ הַזֹּ֔את אֲשֶׁ֛ר הֵ֥מָּה מַלִּינִ֖ים עָלָ֑י אֶת ־תְּלֻנּ֞וֹת בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר הֵ֧מָּה מַלִּינִ֛ים עָלַ֖י שָׁמָֽעְתִּי ׃
ἕως τίνος τὴν συναγωγὴν τὴν πονηρὰν ταύτην ἃ αὐτοὶ γογγύζουσιν ἐναντίον ἐμοῦ τὴν γόγγυσιν τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἣν ἐγόγγυσαν περὶ ὑμῶν ἀκήκοα
Usquequo multitudo haec pessima murmurat contra me ? querelas filiorum Israël audivi .
እስከ ፡ ማእዜኑ ፡ አሰምዖሙ ፡ ነጐርጓሮሙ ፡ ለዛቲ ፡ ትዕይንት ፡ ዘያንጐረጕሩ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ላዕሌክሙ ፡ ዘአንጐርጐሩ ፡ በቅድሜየ ።
“How long shall I bear with this evil congregation that complain against me? I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel, which they complain against me.
14:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֱמֹ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם חַי ־אָ֙נִי֙ נְאֻם ־יְהֹוָ֔ה אִם ־לֹ֕א כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּרְתֶּ֖ם בְּאׇזְנָ֑י כֵּ֖ן אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֥ה לָכֶֽם ׃
εἰπὸν αὐτοῖς ζῶ ἐγώ λέγει κύριος ἦ μὴν ὃν τρόπον λελαλήκατε εἰς τὰ ὦτά μου οὕτως ποιήσω ὑμῖν
Dic ergo eis : Vivo ego , ait Dominus : sicut locuti estis audiente me , sic faciam vobis .
በሎሙ ፡ ሕያው ፡ አነ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እመ ፡ አኮ ፡ ዳእሙ ፡ በከመ ፡ ነበብ [ክሙ ] ፡ ውስተ ፡ እ [ዝንየ ] ፡ ከማሁ ፡ እገብረክሙ ፡ በዝንቱ ፡ ገዳም ።
Tell them, ‘As I live, says Yahweh, surely as you have spoken in my ears, so I will do to you.
14:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ בַּמִּדְבָּ֣ר הַ֠זֶּ֠ה יִפְּל֨וּ פִגְרֵיכֶ֜ם וְכׇל ־פְּקֻדֵיכֶם֙ לְכׇל ־מִסְפַּרְכֶ֔ם מִבֶּ֛ן עֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה וָמָ֑עְלָה אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֲלִֽינֹתֶ֖ם עָלָֽי ׃
ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ταύτῃ πεσεῖται τὰ κῶλα ὑμῶν καὶ πᾶσα ἡ ἐπισκοπὴ ὑμῶν καὶ οἱ κατηριθμημένοι ὑμῶν ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω ὅσοι ἐγόγγυσαν ἐπ’ ἐμοί
In solitudine hac jacebunt cadavera vestra . Omnes qui numerati estis a viginti annis et supra , et murmurastis contra me ,
ወይወድቅ ፡ አብድንቲክሙ ፡ ወኵልክሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ተፋቀድክሙ ፡ ወእለ ፡ ተኈለቍክሙ ፡ ዘእም ፡ ፳ዓም ፡ ወላዕሉ ፡ እምኔሁ ፡ ኵልክሙ ፡ እለ ፡ አንጐርጐርክሙ ፡ ላዕሌየ ፤
Your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness; and all who were counted of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, who have complained against me,
14:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ אִם ־אַתֶּם֙ תָּבֹ֣אוּ אֶל ־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָשָׂ֙אתִי֙ אֶת ־יָדִ֔י לְשַׁכֵּ֥ן אֶתְכֶ֖ם בָּ֑הּ כִּ֚י אִם ־כָּלֵ֣ב בֶּן ־יְפֻנֶּ֔ה וִיהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ בִּן ־נֽוּן ׃
εἰ ὑμεῖς εἰσελεύσεσθε εἰς τὴν γῆν ἐφ’ ἣν ἐξέτεινα τὴν χεῖρά μου κατασκηνῶσαι ὑμᾶς ἐπ’ αὐτῆς ἀλλ’ ἢ Χαλεβ υἱὸς Ιεφοννη καὶ Ἰησοῦς ὁ τοῦ Ναυη
non intrabitis terram , super quam levavi manum meam ut habitare vos facerem , praeter Caleb filium Jephone , et Josue filium Nun .
ከመ ፡ ኢትበውእዋ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ ሰፋሕኩ ፡ እዴየ ፡ ከመ ፡ አንብርክሙ ፡ ውስቴታ ፡ እንበለ ፡ ካሌብ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዬፎኒ ፡ ወኢየሱስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ነዌ ።
surely you shall not come into the land concerning which I swore that I would make you dwell therein, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
14:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְטַ֨פְּכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲמַרְתֶּ֖ם לָבַ֣ז יִהְיֶ֑ה וְהֵבֵיאתִ֣י אֹתָ֔ם וְיָֽדְעוּ֙ אֶת ־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר מְאַסְתֶּ֖ם בָּֽהּ ׃
καὶ τὰ παιδία ἃ εἴπατε ἐν διαρπαγῇ ἔσεσθαι εἰσάξω αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν γῆν καὶ κληρονομήσουσιν τὴν γῆν ἣν ὑμεῖς ἀπέστητε ἀπ’ αὐτῆς
Parvulos autem vestros , de quibus dixistis quod praedae hostibus forent , introducam , ut videant terram , quae vobis displicuit .
ወደቂቀ ፡ እለ ፡ ትቤሉ ፡ ሕብልያ ፡ ይከውኑ ፡ አበውኦሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወይትዋረስዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ተራሐቅክሙ ፡ እምኔሃ ።
But I will bring in your little ones that you said should be captured or killed, and they shall know the land which you have rejected.
14:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּפִגְרֵיכֶ֖ם אַתֶּ֑ם יִפְּל֖וּ בַּמִּדְבָּ֥ר הַזֶּֽה ׃
καὶ τὰ κῶλα ὑμῶν πεσεῖται ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ταύτῃ
Vestra cadavera jacebunt in solitudine .
ወይወድቅ ፡ አብድንቲክሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ገዳም ።
But as for you, your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness.
14:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּ֠בְנֵיכֶ֠ם יִהְי֨וּ רֹעִ֤ים בַּמִּדְבָּר֙ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה וְנָשְׂא֖וּ אֶת ־זְנוּתֵיכֶ֑ם עַד ־תֹּ֥ם פִּגְרֵיכֶ֖ם בַּמִּדְבָּֽר ׃
οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ ὑμῶν ἔσονται νεμόμενοι ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη καὶ ἀνοίσουσιν τὴν πορνείαν ὑμῶν ἕως ἂν ἀναλωθῇ τὰ κῶλα ὑμῶν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ
Filii vestri erunt vagi in deserto annis quadraginta , et portabunt fornicationem vestram , donec consumantur cadavera patrum in deserto ,
ወይትረዐዩ ፡ ደቂቅክሙ ፡ አርብዓ ፡ ዓመ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፤
Your children shall be wanderers in the wilderness forty years, and shall bear your prostitution, until your dead bodies are consumed in the wilderness.
14:34 ⧉ ⤴︎ בְּמִסְפַּ֨ר הַיָּמִ֜ים אֲשֶׁר ־תַּרְתֶּ֣ם אֶת ־הָאָ֘רֶץ֮ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים יוֹם֒ י֣וֹם לַשָּׁנָ֞ה י֣וֹם לַשָּׁנָ֗ה תִּשְׂאוּ֙ אֶת ־עֲוֺנֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם אַרְבָּעִ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה וִֽידַעְתֶּ֖ם אֶת ־תְּנוּאָתִֽי ׃
κατὰ τὸν ἀριθμὸν τῶν ἡμερῶν ὅσας κατεσκέψασθε τὴν γῆν τεσσαράκοντα ἡμέρας ἡμέραν τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ λήμψεσθε τὰς ἁμαρτίας ὑμῶν τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη καὶ γνώσεσθε τὸν θυμὸν τῆς ὀργῆς μου
juxta numerum quadraginta dierum , quibus considerastis terram : annus pro die imputabitur . Et quadraginta annis recipietis iniquitates vestras , et scietis ultionem meam :
በከመ ፡ ኍለቊሆሙ ፡ ለእልክቱ ፡ መዋዕል ፡ እለ ፡ ቦንቱ ፡ ርእይዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ አርብዓ ፡ ዕለተ ፤ አሐቲ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ዓመተ ፡ ትከውነክሙ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ኀጢአትክሙ ፡ ወይኩንክሙ ፡ ፵ዓመ ፡ ወታአምሩ ፡ እንከ ፡ መንሱተ ፡ መዐትየ ።
After the number of the days in which you spied out the land, even forty days, for every day a year, you will bear your iniquities, even forty years, and you will know my alienation.’
14:35 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֲנִ֣י יְהֹוָה֮ דִּבַּ֒רְתִּי֒ אִם ־לֹ֣א ׀ זֹ֣את אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֗ה לְכׇל ־הָעֵדָ֤ה הָֽרָעָה֙ הַזֹּ֔את הַנּוֹעָדִ֖ים עָלָ֑י בַּמִּדְבָּ֥ר הַזֶּ֛ה יִתַּ֖מּוּ וְשָׁ֥ם יָמֻֽתוּ ׃
ἐγὼ κύριος ἐλάλησα ἦ μὴν οὕτως ποιήσω τῇ συναγωγῇ τῇ πονηρᾷ ταύτῃ τῇ ἐπισυνεσταμένῃ ἐπ’ ἐμέ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ταύτῃ ἐξαναλωθήσονται καὶ ἐκεῖ ἀποθανοῦνται
quoniam sicut locutus sum , ita faciam omni multitudini huic pessimae , quae consurrexit adversum me : in solitudine hac deficiet , et morietur .
እስመ ፡ አነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዘነብኩ ፡ ከመ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ እገብራ ፡ ለዛቲ ፡ ትዕይንት ፡ እኪት ፡ እንተ ፡ ኀበረት ፡ ላዕሌየ ፡ በዝንቱ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ለይጥፍኡ ፡ ወበህየ ፡ ለይሙቱ ።
I, Yahweh, have spoken. I will surely do this to all this evil congregation who are gathered together against me. In this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.”
14:36 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהָ֣אֲנָשִׁ֔ים אֲשֶׁר ־שָׁלַ֥ח מֹשֶׁ֖ה לָת֣וּר אֶת ־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיָּשֻׁ֗בוּ (וילונו ) [וַיַּלִּ֤ינוּ ] עָלָיו֙ אֶת ־כׇּל ־הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה לְהוֹצִ֥יא דִבָּ֖ה עַל ־הָאָֽרֶץ ׃
καὶ οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὓς ἀπέστειλεν Μωυσῆς κατασκέψασθαι τὴν γῆν καὶ παραγενηθέντες διεγόγγυσαν κατ’ αὐτῆς πρὸς τὴν συναγωγὴν ἐξενέγκαι ῥήματα πονηρὰ περὶ τῆς γῆς
Igitur omnes viri , quos miserat Moyses ad contemplandam terram , et qui reversi murmurare fecerant contra eum omnem multitudinem , detrahentes terrae quod esset mala ,
ወእልክቱ ፡ ዕደው ፡ እለ ፡ ፈነዎሙ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይርአይዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ አመ ፡ ገብኡ ፡ አንጐርጐሩ ፡ በእንቲአሃ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ተዓይን ፡ ወአውፅኡ ፡ ነገረ ፡ እኩየ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፤
The men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation to murmur against him by bringing up an evil report against the land,
14:37 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיָּמֻ֙תוּ֙ הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים מוֹצִאֵ֥י דִבַּת ־הָאָ֖רֶץ רָעָ֑ה בַּמַּגֵּפָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה ׃
καὶ ἀπέθανον οἱ ἄνθρωποι οἱ κατείπαντες κατὰ τῆς γῆς πονηρὰ ἐν τῇ πληγῇ ἔναντι κυρίου
mortui sunt atque percussi in conspectu Domini .
ወሞቱ ፡ ውእቶሙ ፡ ዕደው ፡ እለ ፡ ይቤልዋ ፡ እኪት ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወምድርሰ ፡ ሠናይት ፡ ይእቲ ፡ በቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
even those men who brought up an evil report of the land, died by the plague before Yahweh.
14:38 ⧉ ⤴︎ וִיהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ בִּן ־נ֔וּן וְכָלֵ֖ב בֶּן ־יְפֻנֶּ֑ה חָיוּ֙ מִן ־הָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים הָהֵ֔ם הַהֹלְכִ֖ים לָת֥וּר אֶת ־הָאָֽרֶץ ׃
καὶ Ἰησοῦς υἱὸς Ναυη καὶ Χαλεβ υἱὸς Ιεφοννη ἔζησαν ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἐκείνων τῶν πεπορευμένων κατασκέψασθαι τὴν γῆν
Josue autem filius Nun , et Caleb filius Jephone , vixerunt ex omnibus qui perrexerant ad considerandam terram .
ወኢያሱ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ነዌ ፡ ወካሌብ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዬፎኔ ፡ እለ ፡ ኀይው ፡ እምኔሆሙ ፡ ለውእቶሙ ፡ ዕደው ፡ እለ ፡ ሖሩ ፡ ይርአይዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ።
But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive of those men who went to spy out the land.
14:39 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְדַבֵּ֤ר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶת ־הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה אֶֽל ־כׇּל ־בְּנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּֽתְאַבְּל֥וּ הָעָ֖ם מְאֹֽד ׃
καὶ ἐλάλησεν Μωυσῆς τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα πρὸς πάντας υἱοὺς Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπένθησεν ὁ λαὸς σφόδρα
Locutusque est Moyses universa verba haec ad omnes filios Israël , et luxit populus nimis .
ወነገሮሙ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ነገረ ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወላሐወ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ጥቀ ።
Moses told these words to all the children of Israel, and the people mourned greatly.
14:40 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּשְׁכִּ֣מוּ בַבֹּ֔קֶר וַיַּֽעֲל֥וּ אֶל ־רֹאשׁ ־הָהָ֖ר לֵאמֹ֑ר הִנֶּ֗נּוּ וְעָלִ֛ינוּ אֶל ־הַמָּק֛וֹם אֲשֶׁר ־אָמַ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה כִּ֥י חָטָֽאנוּ ׃
καὶ ὀρθρίσαντες τὸ πρωὶ ἀνέβησαν εἰς τὴν κορυφὴν τοῦ ὄρους λέγοντες ἰδοὺ οἵδε ἡμεῖς ἀναβησόμεθα εἰς τὸν τόπον ὃν εἶπεν κύριος ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν
Et ecce mane primo surgentes ascenderunt verticem montis , atque dixerunt : Parati sumus ascendere ad locum , de quo Dominus locutus est : quia peccavimus .
ወጌሡ ፡ በጽባሕ ፡ ወዐርጉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ርእሰ ፡ ደብር ፡ ወይቤሉ ፡ ናሁ ፡ ንሕነ ፡ ነዐርግ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ መካን ፡ ዘይቤለነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ አበስነ ፡ በእንቲአሁ ።
They rose up early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, “Behold, we are here, and will go up to the place which Yahweh has promised; for we have sinned.”
14:41 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֔ה לָ֥מָּה זֶּ֛ה אַתֶּ֥ם עֹבְרִ֖ים אֶת ־פִּ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה וְהִ֖וא לֹ֥א תִצְלָֽח ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Μωυσῆς ἵνα τί ὑμεῖς παραβαίνετε τὸ ῥῆμα κυρίου οὐκ εὔοδα ἔσται ὑμῖν
Quibus Moyses : Cur , inquit , transgredimini verbum Domini , quod vobis non cedet in prosperum ?
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ለምንት ፡ ለክሙ ፡ ትትዓደው ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኢኮነ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ ከመዝ ።
Moses said, “Why now do you disobey the commandment of Yahweh, since it shall not prosper?
14:42 ⧉ ⤴︎ אַֽל ־תַּעֲל֔וּ כִּ֛י אֵ֥ין יְהֹוָ֖ה בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑ם וְלֹא֙ תִּנָּ֣גְפ֔וּ לִפְנֵ֖י אֹיְבֵיכֶֽם ׃
μὴ ἀναβαίνετε οὐ γάρ ἐστιν κύριος μεθ’ ὑμῶν καὶ πεσεῖσθε πρὸ προσώπου τῶν ἐχθρῶν ὑμῶν
nolite ascendere : non enim est Dominus vobiscum : ne corruatis coram inimicis vestris .
ኢትዕረጉ ፡ እስመ ፡ አሀለወ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ምስሌክሙ ፡ ወትወድቁ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ፀርክሙ ።
Don’t go up, for Yahweh isn’t among you; that way you won’t be struck down before your enemies.
14:43 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּי֩ הָעֲמָלֵקִ֨י וְהַכְּנַעֲנִ֥י שָׁם֙ לִפְנֵיכֶ֔ם וּנְפַלְתֶּ֖ם בֶּחָ֑רֶב כִּֽי ־עַל ־כֵּ֤ן שַׁבְתֶּם֙ מֵאַחֲרֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה וְלֹא ־יִהְיֶ֥ה יְהֹוָ֖ה עִמָּכֶֽם ׃
ὅτι ὁ Αμαληκ καὶ ὁ Χαναναῖος ἐκεῖ ἔμπροσθεν ὑμῶν καὶ πεσεῖσθε μαχαίρᾳ οὗ εἵνεκεν ἀπεστράφητε ἀπειθοῦντες κυρίῳ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται κύριος ἐν ὑμῖν
Amalecites et Chananaeus ante vos sunt , quorum gladio corruetis , eo quod nolueritis acquiescere Domino : nec erit Dominus vobiscum .
እስመ ፡ ዐማሌቅ ፡ ወከናአን ፡ ሀለው ፡ ህየ ፡ ቅድሜክሙ ፡ ወትወድቁ ፡ በኀፂን ፡ በበይነ ፡ ዘተመየጥክሙ ፡ ወክህድክምዎ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወኢሀለወ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ምስሌክሙ ።
For there the Amalekite and the Canaanite are before you, and you will fall by the sword because you turned back from following Yahweh; therefore Yahweh will not be with you.”
14:44 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּעְפִּ֕לוּ לַעֲל֖וֹת אֶל ־רֹ֣אשׁ הָהָ֑ר וַאֲר֤וֹן בְּרִית ־יְהֹוָה֙ וּמֹשֶׁ֔ה לֹא ־מָ֖שׁוּ מִקֶּ֥רֶב הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה ׃
καὶ διαβιασάμενοι ἀνέβησαν ἐπὶ τὴν κορυφὴν τοῦ ὄρους ἡ δὲ κιβωτὸς τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου καὶ Μωυσῆς οὐκ ἐκινήθησαν ἐκ τῆς παρεμβολῆς
At illi contenebrati ascenderunt in verticem montis . Arca autem testamenti Domini et Moyses non recesserunt de castris .
ወተኀይሎሙ ፡ ዐርጉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ርእሰ ፡ ደብር ፡ ወታቦተ ፡ ሕጉሰ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወሙሴሂ ፡ ኢተሐውሱ ፡ እምነ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ትዕይንት ።
But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain. Nevertheless, the ark of Yahweh’s covenant and Moses didn’t depart out of the camp.
14:45 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּ֤רֶד הָעֲמָלֵקִי֙ וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י הַיֹּשֵׁ֖ב בָּהָ֣ר הַה֑וּא וַיַּכּ֥וּם וַֽיַּכְּת֖וּם עַד ־הַֽחׇרְמָֽה ׃ {פ}
καὶ κατέβη ὁ Αμαληκ καὶ ὁ Χαναναῖος ὁ ἐγκαθήμενος ἐν τῷ ὄρει ἐκείνῳ καὶ ἐτρέψαντο αὐτοὺς καὶ κατέκοψαν αὐτοὺς ἕως Ερμαν καὶ ἀπεστράφησαν εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν
Descenditque Amalecites et Chananaeus , qui habitabat in monte : et percutiens eos atque concidens , persecutus est eos usque Horma .
ወወረዱ ፡ ዐማሌቅ ፡ ወከናአን ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ደብር ፡ ወሰደድዎሙ ፡ እስከ ፡ ኤርማ ፡ ወገብኡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ትዕይንት ።
Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites who lived in that mountain, and struck them and beat them down even to Hormah.
