12:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐν οἷς ἐπισυναχθεισῶν τῶν μυριάδων τοῦ ὄχλου , ὥστε καταπατεῖν ἀλλήλους , ἤρξατο λέγειν πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ πρῶτον · προσέχετε ἑαυτοῖς ἀπὸ τῆς ζύμης τῶν Φαρισαίων , ἥτις ἐστὶν ὑπόκρισις .
Multis autem turbis circumstantibus , ita ut se invicem conculcarent , coepit dicere ad discipulos suos : Attendite a fermento pharisaeorum , quod est hypocrisis .
ወተጋብኡ ኀቤሁ አእላፍ ሰብእ እስከ ይትካየዱ በበይናቲሆሙ ወአኀዘ ይበሎሙ ለአርዳኢሁ ቅድመ ተዐቀቡ እምነብሑኦሙ ለፈሪሳውያን ዘውእቱ አድልዎ ።
Meanwhile, when a multitude of many thousands had gathered together, so much so that they trampled on each other, he began to tell his disciples first of all, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
12:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐδὲν δὲ συγκεκαλυμμένον ἐστὶν ὃ οὐκ ἀποκαλυφθήσεται , καὶ κρυπτὸν ὃ οὐ γνωσθήσεται .
Nihil autem opertum est , quod non reveletur : neque absconditum , quod non sciatur .
እስመ አልቦ ክዱን ዘኢይትከሠት ወአልቦ ኅቡእ ዘኢያስተርኢ ።
But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.
12:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀνθ’ ὧν ὅσα ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ εἴπατε , ἐν τῷ φωτὶ ἀκουσθήσεται , καὶ ὃ πρὸς τὸ οὖς ἐλαλήσατε ἐν τοῖς ταμείοις , κηρυχθήσεται ἐπὶ τῶν δωμάτων .
Quoniam quae in tenebris dixistis , in lumine dicentur : et quod in aurem locuti estis in cubiculis , praedicabitur in tectis .
ወዘተናገርክምዎ በጽልመት ይትናገርዎ በብርሃን ወይሰማዕ ወዘሂ አልኆሰስክሙ በእዝን ይሰብክዎ በአጽራሕ ወበአንሕስት ።
Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
12:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ Λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν τοῖς φίλοις μου , μὴ φοβηθῆτε ἀπὸ τῶν ἀποκτεννόντων τὸ σῶμα καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα μὴ ἐχόντων περισσότερόν τι ποιῆσαι .
Dico autem vobis amicis meis : Ne terreamini ab his qui occidunt corpus , et post haec non habent amplius quid faciant .
እብለክሙ ለክሙ ለአዕርክትየ ኢትፍርህዎሙ ለእለ ይቀትሉክሙ ነፍስተክሙ ወእምዝ አልቦ ፈድፋደ ዘይክሉ ገቢረ ።
“I tell you, my friends, don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
12:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὑποδειξω δὲ ὑμῖν τίνα φοβηθῆτε · φοβήθητε τὸν μετὰ τὸ ἀποκτεῖναι ἔχοντα ἐξουσίαν ἐμβαλεῖν εἰς τὴν γέενναν · ναί λέγω ὑμῖν , τοῦτον φοβήθητε .
Ostendam autem vobis quem timeatis : timete eum qui , postquam occiderit , habet potestatem mittere in gehennam : ita dico vobis , hunc timete .
ወባሕቱ አርእየክሙ ዘትፈርሁ ፍርህዎሰ ለዘእምድኅረ ቀተለ ብዉሕ ሎቱ ይደይ ነፍሰኒ ወሥጋኒ ውስተ ገሃነም እወ እብለክሙ ኪያሁ ፍርሁ ።
But I will warn you whom you should fear. Fear him who after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehenna. Yes, I tell you, fear him.
12:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐχὶ πέντε στρουθία πωλοῦνται ἀσσαρίων δύο ; καὶ ἓν ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐκ ἔστιν ἐπιλελησμένον ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ .
Nonne quinque passeres veneunt dipondio , et unus ex illis non est in oblivione coram Deo ?
አኮኑ ኀምስ አዕዋፍ ይሠየጣ በክልኤ ጸሪቀ አሶርዮን ወኢአሐቲ እምኔሆን ኢትትረሳዕ በቅድመ እግዚአብሔር ።
“Aren’t five sparrows sold for two assaria coins ? Not one of them is forgotten by God.
12:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀλλὰ καὶ αἱ τρίχες τῆς κεφαλῆς ὑμῶν πᾶσαι ἠρίθμηνται . μὴ φοβεῖσθε · πολλῶν στρουθίων διαφέρετε .
sed et capilli capitis vestri omnes numerati sunt . Nolite ergo timere : multis passeribus pluris estis vos .
ወለክሙሰ ሥዕርተ ርእስክሙኒ ኵሉ ኍሉቅ ውእቱ ኢትፍርሁ እንከ እስመ እምብዙኅ አዕዋፍ ትኄይሱ አንትሙ ።
But the very hairs of your head are all counted. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.
12:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν , πᾶς ὃς ἂν ὁμολογήσῃ ἐν ἐμοὶ ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων , καὶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ὁμολογήσει ἐν αὐτῷ ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀγγέλων τοῦ θεοῦ ·
Dico autem vobis : Omnis quicumque confessus fuerit me coram hominibus , et Filius hominis confitebitur illum coram angelis Dei :
እብለክሙ ኵሉ ዘየአምን ብየ በቅድመ ዕጓለ እመሕያው አአምኖ አነሂ በቅድመ መላእክተ እግዚአብሔር ።
“I tell you, everyone who confesses me before men, the Son of Man will also confess before the angels of God;
12:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ ἀρνησάμενός με ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἀπαρνηθήσεται ἐνώπιον τῶν ἀγγέλων τοῦ θεοῦ .
qui autem negaverit me coram hominibus , negabitur coram angelis Dei .
ወዘሰ ክሕደኒ በቅድመ ዕጓለ እመሕያው እክሕዶ አነሂ በቅደመ መላእክተ እግዚአብሔር ።
but he who denies me in the presence of men will be denied in the presence of God’s angels.
12:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ πᾶς ὃς ἐρεῖ λόγον εἰς τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου , ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ · τῷ δὲ εἰς τὸ ἅγιον πνεῦμα βλασφημήσαντι οὐκ ἀφεθήσεται .
Et omnis qui dicit verbum in Filium hominis , remittetur illi : ei autem qui in Spiritum Sanctum blasphemaverit , non remittetur .
ወኵሉ ዘነበበ ቃለ ፅርፈት ላዕለ ወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው ይትኀደግ ሎቱ ወዘሰ ነበበ ቃለ ፅርፈት ላዕለ መንፈስ ቅዱስ ኢይትኀደግ ሎቱ ኢበዝ ዓለም ወኢበዘ ይመጽእ ዓለም ።
Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but those who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
12:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅταν δὲ εἰσφέρωσιν ὑμᾶς ἐπὶ τὰς συναγωγὰς καὶ τὰς ἀρχὰς καὶ τὰς ἐξουσίας , μὴ μεριμνήσητε πῶς ἢ τί ἀπολογήσησθε ἢ τί εἴπητε ·
Cum autem inducent vos in synagogas , et ad magistratus , et potestates , nolite solliciti esse qualiter , aut quid respondeatis , aut quid dicatis .
ወሶበሂ ይወስዱክሙ አዕዋዳተ ወኀበሂ መላእክት ወነገሥት ወመኳንንት ኢተኀልዩ ዘከመ ትብሉ ወዘከመሂ ትትናገሩ ።
When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, don’t be anxious how or what you will answer or what you will say;
12:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ τὸ γὰρ ἅγιον πνεῦμα διδάξει ὑμᾶς ἐν αὐτῇ τῇ ὥρᾳ ἃ δεῖ εἰπεῖν .
Spiritus enim Sanctus docebit vos in ipsa hora quid oporteat vos dicere .
እስመ መንፈስ ቅዱስ ውእቱ ዘይነብብ በላዕሌክሙ ሶቤሃ ።
for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that same hour what you must say.”
12:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ Εἶπεν δέ τις ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου αὐτῷ · διδάσκαλε , εἰπὲ τῷ ἀδελφῷ μου μερίσασθαι μετ’ ἐμοῦ τὴν κληρονομίαν .
Ait autem ei quidam de turba : Magister , dic fratri meo ut dividat mecum haereditatem .
ወይቤሎ አሐዱ እምሕዝብ ሊቅ በሎ ለእኁየ ይክፍለኒ ርስትየ ።
One of the multitude said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”
12:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ · ἄνθρωπε , τίς με κατέστησεν κριτὴν ἢ μεριστὴν ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς ;
At ille dixit illi : Homo , quis me constituit judicem , aut divisorem super vos ?
ወይቤሎ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ አንተ ብእሲ መኑ ሤመኒ ከፋሌ ወመኰንነ ላዕሌክሙ ።
But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or an arbitrator over you?”
12:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτούς · ὁρᾶτε καὶ φυλάσσεσθε ἀπὸ πάσης πλεονεξίας , ὅτι οὐκ ἐν τῷ περισσεύειν τινὶ ἡ ζωὴ αὐτοῦ ἐστιν ἐκ τῶν ὑπαρχόντων αὐτῷ .
Dixitque ad illos : Videte , et cavete ab omni avaritia : quia non in abundantia cujusquam vita ejus est ex his quae possidet .
ወይቤሎሙ ዑቁ ወተዐቀቡ እምነ ኵሉ ትዕግልት እስመ አኮ በአብዝኆ ንዋይ ዘየሐዩ ሰብእ ።
He said to them, “Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.”
12:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ Εἶπεν δὲ παραβολὴν πρὸς αὐτοὺς λέγων · ἀνθρώπου τινὸς πλουσίου εὐφόρησεν ἡ χώρα .
Dixit autem similitudinem ad illos , dicens : Hominis cujusdam divitis uberes fructus ager attulit :
ወመሰለ ሎሙ ወይቤሎሙ አሐዱ ብእሲ ባዕል ዘሠምረ ሎቱ ተግባሩ ወደለዎ ብሔር ።
He spoke a parable to them, saying, “The ground of a certain rich man produced abundantly.
12:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ διελογίζετο ἐν ἑαυτῷ λέγων · τί ποιήσω , ὅτι οὐκ ἔχω ποῦ συνάξω τοὺς καρπούς μου ;
et cogitabat intra se dicens : Quid faciam , quia non habeo quo congregem fructus meos ?
ወኀለየ በልቡ ወይቤ ምንተ እሬሲ ዘአልብየ ኀበ እዘግብ እክልየ ወበረከትየ ።
He reasoned within himself, saying, ‘What will I do, because I don’t have room to store my crops?’
12:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εἶπεν · τοῦτο ποιήσω · καθελῶ μου τὰς ἀποθήκας καὶ μείζονας οἰκοδομήσω , καὶ συνάξω ἐκεῖ πάντα τὰ γενήματά μου καὶ τὰ ἀγαθά μου ,
Et dixit : Hoc faciam : destruam horrea mea , et majora faciam : et illuc congregabo omnia quae nata sunt mihi , et bona mea ,
ወይቤ ከመዝ እገብር እነሥት ዘትካት መዛግብትየ ወአሐንጽ ካልአ ዘየዐቢ እምኔሁ ወእዘግብ ህየ እክልየ ወበረከትየ ።
He said, ‘This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
12:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐρῶ τῇ ψυχῇ μου · ψυχή , ἔχεις πολλὰ ἀγαθὰ κείμενα εἰς ἔτη πολλά · ἀναπαύου , φάγε , πίε , εὐφραίνου .
et dicam animae meae : Anima , habes multa bona posita in annos plurimos : requiesce , comede , bibe , epulare .
ወእብላ ለነፍስየ ኦ ነፍስየ ብኪ ብዙኅ በረከት ዘዘገብኩ ለኪ ንቡረ ዘየአክለኪ ለብዙኅ ዓመታት አዕርፊ እንከሰ ብልዒ ወስትዪ ወተፈሥሒ ።
I will tell my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.”’
12:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ θεός · ἄφρων , ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ τὴν ψυχήν σου ἀπαιτοῦσιν ἀπὸ σοῦ · ἃ δὲ ἡτοίμασας , τίνι ἔσται ;
Dixit autem illi Deus : Stulte , hac nocte animam tuam repetunt a te : quae autem parasti , cujus erunt ?
ወይቤሎ እግዚአብሔር ኦአብድ በዛቲ ሌሊት ይነሥእዋ ለነፍስከ እምላዕሌከ ለመኑ እንከ ይከውን ዘአስተዳለውከ ።
“But God said to him, ‘You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?’
12:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὕτως ὁ θησαυρίζων αὐτῷ καὶ μὴ εἰς θεὸν πλουτῶν .
Sic est qui sibi thesaurizat , et non est in Deum dives .
ከማሁኬ ዘይዘግብ ሎቱ መዝገበ ዘኢኮነ እምእግዚአብሔር ብዕሉ ።
So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
12:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς μαθητάς αὐτοῦ · διὰ τοῦτο ὑμῖν λέγω , μὴ μεριμνᾶτε τῇ ψυχῇ τί φάγητε , μηδὲ τῷ σώματι τί ἐνδύσησθε .
Dixitque ad discipulos suos : Ideo dico vobis , nolite solliciti esse animae vestrae quid manducetis , neque corpori quid induamini .
ወይቤሎሙ ለአርዳኢሁ በእንተ ዝንቱ እብለክሙ ኢተኀልዩ ለነፍስክሙ ዘትበልዑ ወዘትሰትዩ ወለሥጋክሙ ዘትለብሱ ።
He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear.
12:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡ ψυχὴ πλεῖόν ἐστιν τῆς τροφῆς καὶ τὸ σῶμα τοῦ ἐνδύματος .
Anima plus est quam esca , et corpus plus quam vestimentum .
እስመ ነፍስ ተዐፅብ እምሲሲት ወሥጋ የዐፅብ እምዐራዝ ።
Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
12:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ κατανοήσατε τοὺς κόρακας , ὅτι οὔτε σπείρουσιν οὔτε θερίζουσιν , οἷς οὐκ ἔστιν ταμεῖον οὐδὲ ἀποθήκη , καὶ ὁ θεὸς τρέφει αὐτούς · πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὑμεῖς διαφέρετε τῶν πετεινῶν .
Considerate corvos , quia non seminant , neque metunt , quibus non est cellarium , neque horreum , et Deus pascit illos . Quanto magis vos pluris estis illis ?
ርእዩ ዕጕለ ቋዓት ዘኢይዘርዑ ወኢየአርሩ ወአልቦሙ መዛግብት ወኢውሳጥያት ወእግዚአብሔር ይሴስዮሙ እፎ እንከ ፈድፋደ ትኄይሱ አንትሙ እምአዕዋፍ ።
Consider the ravens: they don’t sow, they don’t reap, they have no warehouse or barn, and God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds!
12:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ τίς δὲ ἐξ ὑμῶν μεριμνῶν δύναται προσθεῖναι ἐπὶ τὴν ἡλικίαν αὐτοῦ πῆχυν ;
Quis autem vestrum cogitando potest adjicere ad staturam suam cubitum unum ?
መኑ እምኔክሙ ኀልዮ ዘይክል ወስኮ አሐደ እመተ በዲበ ቆሙ ።
Which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his height?
12:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ οὖν οὐδὲ ἐλάχιστον δύνασθε , τί περὶ τῶν λοιπῶν μεριμνᾶτε ;
Si ergo neque quod minimum est potestis , quid de ceteris solliciti estis ?
ወሶበ ኢትክሉ ዘንተ ዘይቀልል ለምንት ትኄልዩ ዘየዐፅብ ።
If then you aren’t able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest?
12:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ κατανοήσατε τὰ κρίνα , πῶς οὔτε νήθει οὔτε ὑφαίνει · λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν , οὐδὲ Σολομὼν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ δόξῃ αὐτοῦ περιεβάλετο ὡς ἓν τούτων .
Considerate lilia quomodo crescunt : non laborant , neque nent : dico autem vobis , nec Salomon in omni gloria sua vestiebatur sicut unum ex istis .
ናሁ ጽጌያተ ገዳም ርእዩ ዘከመ ይልህቁ ኢይፈትሉ ወኢይጻምዉ እብለክሙ ከመ ሰሎሞን ጥቀ ኢለብሰ ከመ አሐዱ እምእሉ በኵሉ መዋዕለ ክብሩ ።
Consider the lilies, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
12:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ δὲ ἐν ἀγρῷ τὸν χόρτον ὄντα σήμερον καὶ αὔριον εἰς κλίβανον βαλλόμενον ὁ θεὸς οὕτως ἀμφιέζει , πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὑμᾶς , ὀλιγόπιστοι .
Si autem foenum , quod hodie est in agro , et cras in clibanum mittitur , Deus sic vestit : quanto magis vos pusillae fidei ?
ወለእመ ኮነ ሥርወ ጽጌ ዘዮም ሀሎ ወጌሠመ ውስተ እሳት ይትወደይ ከማሁኬ ይሬሲ እግዚአብሔር እፎ እንከ ፈድፋደ ለክሙ ኦ ሕጹጻነ ሃይማኖት ።
But if this is how God clothes the grass in the field, which today exists and tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith?
12:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὑμεῖς μὴ ζητεῖτε τί φάγητε καὶ τί πίητε , καὶ μὴ μετεωρίζεσθε ·
Et vos nolite quaerere quid manducetis , aut quid bibatis : et nolite in sublime tolli :
አንትሙሂ ኢትኅሥሡ ዘትበልዑ ወዘትሰትዩ ወኢትትፋለሱ ።
“Don’t seek what you will eat or what you will drink; neither be anxious.
12:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ ταῦτα γὰρ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τοῦ κόσμου ἐπιζητοῦσιν · ὑμῶν δὲ ὁ πατὴρ οἶδεν ὅτι χρῄζετε τούτων .
haec enim omnia gentes mundi quaerunt . Pater autem vester scit quoniam his indigetis .
እስመ ዘንተሰ ኵሎ አሕዛበ ዓለም ዘአፍኣ የኀሥሥዎ ወለክሙሰ የአምር አቡክሙ ከመ ተኀሥሥዎ ለዝንቱ ኵሉ ።
For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things.
12:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ πλὴν ζητεῖτε τὴν βασιλείαν αὐτοῦ , καὶ ταῦτα προστεθήσεται ὑμῖν .
Verumtamen quaerite primum regnum Dei , et justitiam ejus : et haec omnia adjicientur vobis .
ወባሕቱ ኅሡ መንግሥተ እግዚአብሔር ወጽድቆ ወዝሰ ኵሉ ይትዌሰክ ለክሙ ።
But seek God’s Kingdom, and all these things will be added to you.
12:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ Μὴ φοβοῦ , τὸ μικρὸν ποίμνιον · ὅτι εὐδόκησεν ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν δοῦναι ὑμῖν τὴν βασιλείαν .
Nolite timere pusillus grex , quia complacuit Patri vestro dare vobis regnum .
ኢትፍራህ ኦ ንኡስ መርዔት እስመ ሠምረ አቡክሙ የሀብክሙ መንግሥቶ ።
“Don’t be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.
12:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ Πωλήσατε τὰ ὑπάρχοντα ὑμῶν καὶ δότε ἐλεημοσύνην · ποιήσατε ἑαυτοῖς βαλλάντια μὴ παλαιούμενα , θησαυρὸν ἀνέκλειπτον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς , ὅπου κλέπτης οὐκ ἐγγίζει οὐδὲ σὴς διαφθείρει .
Vendite quae possidetis , et date eleemosynam . Facite vobis sacculos , qui non veterascunt , thesaurum non deficientem in caelis : quo fur non appropriat , neque tinea corrumpit .
ሢጡ ንዋየክሙ ወሀቡ ምጽዋተ ግበሩ ለክሙ ቍናማተ ዘኢይበሊ ወመዛግብተ በሰማያት ዘኢየኀልቅ ኀበ ኢይረክቦ ሰራቂ ወኢያማስኖ ፃፄ ወቍንቍኔ ።
Sell what you have and give gifts to the needy. Make for yourselves purses which don’t grow old, a treasure in the heavens that doesn’t fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.
12:34 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅπου γάρ ἐστιν ὁ θησαυρὸς ὑμῶν , ἐκεῖ καὶ ἡ καρδία ὑμῶν ἔσται .
Ubi enim thesaurus vester est , ibi et cor vestrum erit .
ወኀበ ሀሎ መዝገብክሙ ህየ ይሄሉ ልብክሙ ።
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
12:35 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἔστωσαν ὑμῶν αἱ ὀσφύες περιεζωσμέναι καὶ οἱ λύχνοι καιόμενοι ·
Sint lumbi vestri praecincti , et lucernae ardentes in manibus vestris ,
ወይኩን ቅኑተ ሐቌክሙ ወኅትወ መኃትዊክሙ ።
“Let your waist be dressed and your lamps burning.
12:36 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὑμεῖς ὅμοιοι ἀνθρώποις προσδεχομένοις τὸν κύριον ἑαυτῶν , πότε ἀναλύσῃ ἐκ τῶν γάμων , ἵνα ἐλθόντος καὶ κρούσαντος εὐθέως ἀνοίξωσιν αὐτῷ .
et vos similes hominibus exspectantibus dominum suum quando revertatur a nuptiis : ut , cum venerit et pulsaverit , confestim aperiant ei .
ወአንትሙኒ ኩኑ ከመ ዕደው እለ ይጸንሑ እግዚኦሙ እስከ የአቱ እምከብካብ ከመ መጺኦ ወጐድጕዶ ያርኅውዎ ሶቤሃ ።
Be like men watching for their lord when he returns from the wedding feast, that when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open to him.
12:37 ⧉ ⤴︎ μακάριοι οἱ δοῦλοι ἐκεῖνοι , οὓς ἐλθὼν ὁ κύριος εὑρήσει γρηγοροῦντας · ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι περιζώσεται καὶ ἀνακλινεῖ αὐτοὺς καὶ παρελθὼν διακονήσει αὐτοῖς .
Beati servi illi quos , cum venerit dominus , invenerit vigilantes : amen dico vobis , quod praecinget se , et faciet illos discumbere , et transiens ministrabit illis .
ብፁዓን እሙንቱ አግብርት እለ ይረክቦሙ እግዚኦሙ መጺኦ እንዘ ከመዝ ይገብሩ ወይተግሁ አማን እብለክሙ ከመ ይቀንት ሐቌሁ ወያረፍቆሙ ወያንሶሱ ማእከሎሙ ወይትለአኮሙ ።
Blessed are those servants whom the lord will find watching when he comes. Most certainly I tell you that he will dress himself, make them recline, and will come and serve them.
12:38 ⧉ ⤴︎ κἂν ἐν τῇ δευτέρᾳ , κἂν ἐν τῇ τρίτῃ φυλακῇ ἔλθῃ καὶ εὕρῃ οὕτως , μακάριοί εἰσίν .
Et si venerit in secunda vigilia , et si in tertia vigilia venerit , et ita invenerit , beati sunt servi illi .
ወእመኒ በካልእት ወእመኒ በሣልስት ሰዓተ ሌሊት መጽአ ወረከቦሙ ከመዝ ብፁዓን እሙንቱ እልክቱ አግብርት ።
They will be blessed if he comes in the second or third watch and finds them so.
12:39 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦτο δὲ γινώσκετε , ὅτι εἰ ᾔδει ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης ποίᾳ ὥρᾳ ὁ κλέπτης ἔρχεται , οὐκ ἂν ἀφῆκεν διορυχθῆναι τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ .
Hoc autem scitote , quoniam si sciret paterfamilias , qua hora fur veniret , vigilaret utique , et non sineret perfodi domum suam .
ወዘንተ ባሕቱ አእምሩ ሶበሁ የአምር በዓለ ቤት እንተ ጊዜ ይመጽእ ሰራቂ እምተግሀ ወእምሐለወ ወእምኢያብሐ ይክርዩ ቤቶ ።
But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.
12:40 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὑμεῖς γίνεσθε ἕτοιμοι , ὅτι ᾗ ὥρᾳ οὐ δοκεῖτε ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἔρχεται .
Et vos estote parati : quia qua hora non putatis , Filius hominis veniet .
ወአንትሙሂ ድልዋኒክሙ ሀልዉ እስመ በጊዜ ኢተሐዘብክሙ ይመጽእ ወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው ።
Therefore be ready also, for the Son of Man is coming in an hour that you don’t expect him.”
12:41 ⧉ ⤴︎ Εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ Πέτρος · κύριε , πρὸς ἡμᾶς τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην λέγεις ἢ καὶ πρὸς πάντας ;
Ait autem ei Petrus : Domine , ad nos dicis hanc parabolam , an et ad omnes ?
ወይቤሎ ጴጥሮስ እግዚኦ ለነኑ ትሜስል ዘንተ ምሳሌ አው ለኵሉኑ ።
Peter said to him, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everybody?”
12:42 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εἶπεν ὁ κύριος · τίς ἄρα ἐστὶν ὁ πιστὸς οἰκονόμος ὁ φρόνιμος , ὃν καταστήσει ὁ κύριος ἐπὶ τῆς θεραπείας αὐτοῦ τοῦ διδόναι ἐν καιρῷ τὸ σιτομέτριον ;
Dixit autem Dominus : Quis , putas , est fidelis dispensator , et prudens , quem constituit dominus supra familiam suam , ut det illis in tempore tritici mensuram ?
ወይቤሎ እግዚእነ መኑ እንጋ ውእቱ መጋቢ ኄር ወምእመን ወጠቢብ ዘይሠይሞ እግዚኡ ላዕለ ኵሉ ሰብአ ቤቱ ከመ የሀቦሙ ሲሳዮሙ በበጊዜሁ ።
The Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the right times?
12:43 ⧉ ⤴︎ μακάριος ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος , ὃν ἐλθὼν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ εὑρήσει ποιοῦντα οὕτως .
Beatus ille servus quem , cum venerit dominus , invenerit ita facientem .
ብፁዕ ውእቱ ገብር ዘመጺኦ እግዚኡ ይረክቦ እንዘ ከመዝ ይገብር ።
Blessed is that servant whom his lord will find doing so when he comes.
12:44 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀληθῶς λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐπὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς ὑπάρχουσιν αὐτοῦ καταστήσει αὐτόν .
Vere dico vobis , quoniam supra omnia quae possidet , constituet illum .
አማን እብለክሙ ከመ ላዕለ ኵሉ ንዋዩ ያሜግቦ ።
Truly I tell you that he will set him over all that he has.
12:45 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐὰν δὲ εἴπῃ ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ · χρονίζει ὁ κύριός μου ἔρχεσθαι , καὶ ἄρξηται τύπτειν τοὺς παῖδας καὶ τὰς παιδίσκας , ἐσθίειν τε καὶ πίνειν καὶ μεθύσκεσθαι ·
Quod si dixerit servus ille in corde suo : Moram facit dominus meus venire : et coeperit percutere servos , et ancillas , et edere , et bibere , et inebriari :
ወእመሰ ይቤ ውእቱ ገብር እኩይ በልቡ ይጐነዲ አቲወ እግዚእየ ወይእኅዝ ይዝብጥ ወያመንዝዝ ደቀ ወአዋልደ ዘቤተ እግዚኡ ወይበልዕ ወይሰቲ ምስለ ሰካርያን ወይሰክር ።
But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My lord delays his coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink and to be drunken,
12:46 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἥξει ὁ κύριος τοῦ δούλου ἐκείνου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ οὐ προσδοκᾷ καὶ ἐν ὥρᾳ ᾗ οὐ γινώσκει , καὶ διχοτομήσει αὐτόν , καὶ τὸ μέρος αὐτοῦ μετὰ τῶν ἀπίστων θήσει .
veniet dominus servi illius in die qua non sperat , et hora qua nescit , et dividet eum , partemque ejus cum infidelibus ponet .
ወይበጽሕ እግዚኡ ለውእቱ ገብር በዕለተ ኢተሐዘበ ወበጊዜ ኢያእመረ ወይመትሮ እማእከሉ ወያገብእ መክፈልቶ ምስለ እለ ኢየአምኑ ።
then the lord of that servant will come in a day when he isn’t expecting him and in an hour that he doesn’t know, and will cut him in two, and place his portion with the unfaithful.
12:47 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐκεῖνος δὲ ὁ δοῦλος ὁ γνοὺς τὸ θέλημα τοῦ κυρίου αὐτοῦ καὶ μὴ ἑτοιμάσας ἢ ποιήσας πρὸς τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ δαρήσεται πολλάς ·
Ille autem servus qui cognovit voluntatem domini sui , et non praeparavit , et non facit secundum voluntatem ejus , vapulabit multis :
ወለገብርሰ ዘየአምር ፈቃደ እግዚኡ ወኢይገብር ወኢያስተዳሉ ዘከመ ይፈቅድ ብዙኅ መቅሠፍቱ ።
That servant who knew his lord’s will, and didn’t prepare nor do what he wanted, will be beaten with many stripes,
12:48 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ μὴ γνούς , ποιήσας δὲ ἄξια πληγῶν , δαρήσεται ὀλίγας . παντὶ δὲ ᾧ ἐδόθη πολύ , πολὺ ζητηθήσεται παρ’ αὐτοῦ , καὶ ᾧ παρέθεντο πολύ , περισσότερον αἰτήσουσιν αὐτόν .
qui autem non cognovit , et fecit digna plagis , vapulabit paucis . Omni autem cui multum datum est , multum quaeretur ab eo : et cui commendaverunt multum , plus petent ab eo .
ወዘሰ ኢየአምር ለእመ ኢገብረ ውኁድ መቅሠፍቱ ወለኵሉ ዘብዙኀ ወሀብዎ ብዙኀ ይትኃሠሥዎ ወለዘኒ ውኁደ አማሕፀንዎ ውኁደ ይትኃሠሥዎ ።
but he who didn’t know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.
12:49 ⧉ ⤴︎ Πῦρ ἦλθον βαλεῖν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν , καὶ τί θέλω εἰ ἤδη ἀνήφθη .
Ignem veni mittere in terram , et quid volo nisi ut accendatur ?
እሳተ አምጻእኩ ለብሔር ወምንተ እፈቅድ ዘእንበለ አንድዶታ ።
“I came to throw fire on the earth. I wish it were already kindled.
12:50 ⧉ ⤴︎ βάπτισμα δὲ ἔχω βαπτισθῆναι , καὶ πῶς συνέχομαι ἕως ὅτου τελεσθῇ .
Baptismo autem habeo baptizari : et quomodo coarctor usque dum perficiatur ?
ወባሕቱ ብየ ጥምቀት ዘእጠመቅ ወጥቀ እትዔገሥ እስከ እፌጽማ ።
But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!
12:51 ⧉ ⤴︎ δοκεῖτε ὅτι εἰρήνην παρεγενόμην δοῦναι ἐν τῇ γῇ ; οὐχί , λέγω ὑμῖν , ἀλλ’ ἢ διαμερισμόν .
Putatis quia pacem veni dare in terram ? non , dico vobis , sed separationem :
ወይቤሎሙ ለሕዝብ ይመስለክሙኑ ሰላመ ዘአምጻእኩ ለምድር አልቦ እብለክሙ ዘእንበለ መጥባሕት ወፍልጣን ።
Do you think that I have come to give peace on the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division.
12:52 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔσονται γὰρ ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν πέντε ἐν ἑνὶ οἴκῳ διαμεμερισμένοι , τρεῖς ἐπὶ δυσὶν καὶ δύο ἐπὶ τρισὶν
erunt enim ex hoc quinque in domo una divisi , tres in duos , et duo in tres
ወእምይዜሰ ለእመ ኀምስቱ ሀለዉ ውስተ አሐዱ ቤት ይትፈለጡ ሠለስቱ እምክልኤቱ ወይትፈለጡ ክልኤቱ እምሠለስቱ ወይትፈለጥ አሐዱ እምካልኡ ።
For from now on, there will be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
12:53 ⧉ ⤴︎ διαμερισθήσονται , πατὴρ ἐπὶ υἱῷ καὶ υἱὸς ἐπὶ πατρί , μήτηρ ἐπὶ θυγατέρα καὶ θυγάτηρ ἐπὶ μητέρα , πενθερὰ ἐπὶ τὴν νύμφην καὶ νύμφη ἐπὶ τὴν πενθεράν .
dividentur : pater in filium , et filius in patrem suum , mater in filiam , et filia in matrem , socrus in nurum suam , et nurus in socrum suam .
ወይትፈለጥ አብ እምወልዱ ወወልድኒ እምአቡሁ ወትትፈለጥ እም እምወለታ ወወለትኒ እምእማ ወሐማት እመርዓታ ወመርዓትኒ እምሐማታ ።
They will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
12:54 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἔλεγεν δὲ καὶ τοῖς ὄχλοις · ὅταν ἴδητε νεφέλην ἀνατέλλουσαν ἐπὶ δυσμῶν , εὐθέως λέγετε ὅτι ὄμβρος ἔρχεται , καὶ γίνεται οὕτως ·
Dicebat autem et ad turbas : Cum videritis nubem orientem ab occasu , statim dicitis : Nimbus venit : et ita fit .
ወእምዝ ይቤሎሙ ለሕዝብ ሶበ ትሬእዩ ደመና ዘይዴምን መንገለ ዓረብ ዝናም ለመጺእ ከመዝ ይከውን ትብሉ ።
He said to the multitudes also, “When you see a cloud rising from the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and so it happens.
12:55 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὅταν νότον πνέοντα , λέγετε ὅτι καύσων ἔσται , καὶ γίνεται .
Et cum austrum flantem , dicitis : Quia aestus erit : et fit .
ወሶበ ይነፍኅ ነፋሰ አዜብ ሐሩር ለመጺእ ከመዝ ይከውን ትብሉ ።
When a south wind blows, you say, ‘There will be a scorching heat,’ and it happens.
12:56 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὑποκριταί , τὸ πρόσωπον τῆς γῆς καὶ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ οἴδατε δοκιμάζειν , τὸν δὲ καιρὸν τοῦτον πῶς οὐ δοκιμάζετε ;
Hypocritae ! faciem caeli et terrae nostis probare : hoc autem tempus quomodo non probatis ?
ኦ መደልዋን ለገጸ ሰማይ ወምድር ተአምሩ አመክሮቶ ወእፎ ኢተአምሩ አመክሮቶን ለእላንቱ መዋዕል ።
You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how is it that you don’t interpret this time?
12:57 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τί δὲ καὶ ἀφ’ ἑαυτῶν οὐ κρίνετε τὸ δίκαιον ;
quid autem et a vobis ipsis non judicatis quod justum est ?
ወለምንትኑ ለሊክሙ ኢትፈትሑ ጽድቀ ።
“Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?
12:58 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς γὰρ ὑπάγεις μετὰ τοῦ ἀντιδίκου σου ἐπ’ ἄρχοντα , ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ δὸς ἐργασίαν ἀπηλλάχθαι ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ , μήποτε κατασύρῃ σε πρὸς τὸν κριτήν , καὶ ὁ κριτής σε παραδώσει τῷ πράκτορι , καὶ ὁ πράκτωρ σε βαλεῖ εἰς φυλακήν .
Cum autem vadis cum adversario tuo ad principem , in via da operam liberari ab illo , ne forte trahat te ad judicem , et judex tradat te exactori , et exactor mittat te in carcerem .
ወሶበ ተሐውር ምስለ ዕድውከ ኀበ መልአክ ተዐረቅ በፍኖት ወሰልጥ ዘትፈድዮ ከመ ኢይትባጻሕከ ኀበ መኰንን ወመኰንን ይሜጥወከ ለወዓሊሁ ወወዓሊሁ ይሞቅሐከ ።
For when you are going with your adversary before the magistrate, try diligently on the way to be released from him, lest perhaps he drag you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.
12:59 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγω σοι , οὐ μὴ ἐξέλθῃς ἐκεῖθεν ἕως καὶ τὸ ἔσχατον λεπτὸν ἀποδῷς .
Dico tibi , non exies inde , donec etiam novissimum minutum reddas .
እብለከ ከመ ኢትወፅእ እምህየ እስከ ሶበ ትሴልጥ ደኃሪተ ገመስ ዘላዕሌከ ።
I tell you, you will by no means get out of there until you have paid the very last penny. ”
