7:1

Holofernes autem altera die præcepit exercitibus suis ut ascenderent contra Bethuliam.
ወበሳኒታ፡ አዘዘ፡ ሆሎፎርኒስ፡ ለኵሉ፡ ሐራሁ፡ ወለኵሉ፡ ሕዝቡ፡ እለ፡ ፀብዑ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ከመ፡ ይግዓዙ፡ ቤጤልዋ፡ ወይሑሩ፡ ይቅድሙ፡ ውስተ፡ ፍትሐታተ፡ አድባር፡ ወይትቃተልዎሙ፡ ለደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል።
The next day Holofernes commanded all his army and all the people who had come to be his allies, that they should move their camp toward Bethulia, take beforehand the ascents of the hill country, and make war against the children of Israel.
7:2
καὶ ἀνέζευξεν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ πᾶς ἀνὴρ δυνατὸς αὐτῶν καὶ ἡ δύναμις αὐτῶν ἀνδρῶν πολεμιστῶν χιλιάδες πεζῶν ἑκατὸν ἑβδομήκοντα καὶ ἱππέων χιλιάδες δέκα δύο χωρὶς τῆς ἀποσκευῆς καὶ τῶν ἀνδρῶν οἳ ἦσαν πεζοὶ ἐν αὐτοῖς πλῆθος πολὺ σφόδρα
Erant autem pedites bellatorum centum viginti millia, et equites viginti duo millia, præter præparationes virorum illorum quos occupaverat captivitas, et abducti fuerant de provinciis et urbibus universæ juventutis.
ወወረዱ፡ ይእተ፡ አሚረ፡ ኵሉ፡ ብእሲ፡ ጽኑዓኒሆሙ፡ ወኃያላኒሆሙ፡ ዕደው፡ መስተቃትላን፡ ዐሠርቱ፡ ወሰብዐቱ፡ ፼፡ ዘበእግር፡ ወዘፈረስ፡ ፼፡ ወ፳፻፡ ዘእንበለ፡ ምስለ፡ ንዋይ፡ ወዘእንበለ፡ ዕደው፡ እለ፡ ኢሮዱ፡ አጋርያን፡ ብዙኃን፡ ጥቀ።
Every mighty man of them moved that day. The army of their men of war was one hundred seventy thousand footmen, plus twelve thousand horsemen, besides the baggage, and the men that were on foot among them: an exceedingly great multitude.
7:3
καὶ παρενέβαλον ἐν τῷ αὐλῶνι πλησίον Βαιτυλουα ἐπὶ τῆς πηγῆς καὶ παρέτειναν εἰς εὖρος ἐπὶ Δωθαϊμ ἕως Βελβαιμ καὶ εἰς μῆκος ἀπὸ Βαιτυλουα ἕως Κυαμωνος ἥ ἐστιν ἀπέναντι τοῦ Εσδρηλων
Omnes paraverunt se pariter ad pugnam contra filios Israël, et venerunt per crepidinem montis usque ad apicem, qui respicit super Dothain, a loco qui dicitur Belma usque ad Chelmon, qui est contra Esdrelon.
ወኀደሩ፡ ውስተ፡ ዓውሎንያ፡ ገቦሃ፡ ለቤጤልዋ፡ ኀበ፡ ነቅዕ፡ ወበጽሐ፡ ተዓይኒሆሙ፡ ኑኁ፡ እስከ፡ ዶታይም፡ ወእስከ፡ ቤልሜም፡ ወግድሙ፡ እስከ፡ ቅያስም፡ እምነ፡ ቤጤልዋ፡ እንተ፡ እምቅድመ፡ አስዲራሎም።
They encamped in the valley near Bethulia, by the fountain. They spread themselves in breadth over Dothaim even to Belmaim, and in length from Bethulia to Cyamon, which is near Esdraelon.
7:4
οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ὡς εἶδον αὐτῶν τὸ πλῆθος ἐταράχθησαν σφόδρα καὶ εἶπαν ἕκαστος πρὸς τὸν πλησίον αὐτοῦ νῦν ἐκλείξουσιν οὗτοι τὸ πρόσωπον τῆς γῆς πάσης καὶ οὔτε τὰ ὄρη τὰ ὑψηλὰ οὔτε αἱ φάραγγες οὔτε οἱ βουνοὶ ὑποστήσονται τὸ βάρος αὐτῶν
Filii autem Israël, ut viderunt multitudinem illorum, prostraverunt se super terram, mittentes cinerem super capita sua, unanimes orantes ut Deus Israël misericordiam suam ostenderet super populum suum.
ወሶበ፡ ርእዩ፡ ብዝኆሙ፡ ደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ ደንገጹ፡ ጥቀ፡ ወተበሀሉ፡ በበይናቲሆሙ፡ የአጽውዎ፡ ይእዜ፡ ለኵሉ፡ ገጸ፡ ምድር፡ እሉ፡ ወአልቦ፡ ዘይክል፡ ፀዊረ፡ ክበዶሙ፡ ኢአድባር፡ ወኢአውግር፡ ወኢቈላት።
But the children of Israel, when they saw the multitude of them, were troubled exceedingly, and everyone said to his neighbor, “Now these men will lick up the face of all the earth. Neither the high mountains, nor the valleys, nor the hills will be able to bear their weight.
7:5
καὶ ἀναλαβόντες ἕκαστος τὰ σκεύη τὰ πολεμικὰ αὐτῶν καὶ ἀνακαύσαντες πυρὰς ἐπὶ τοὺς πύργους αὐτῶν ἔμενον φυλάσσοντες ὅλην τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην
Et assumentes arma sua bellica, sederunt per loca quæ ad angusti itineris tramitem dirigunt inter montosa, et erant custodientes ea tota die et nocte.
ወነሥኡ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ንዋየ፡ ሐቅሎሙ፡ ወአንደዱ፡ እሳተ፡ ውስተ፡ ማኅፈዲሆሙ፡ ወነበሩ፡ የዓቅቡ፡ ኵላ፡ ይእተ፡ ሌሊተ።
Every man took up his weapons of war, and when they had kindled fires upon their towers, they remained and watched all that night.
7:6
τῇ δὲ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ δευτέρᾳ ἐξήγαγεν Ολοφέρνης πᾶσαν τὴν ἵππον αὐτοῦ κατὰ πρόσωπον τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ οἳ ἦσαν ἐν Βαιτυλουα
Porro Holofernes, dum circuit per gyrum, reperit quod fons qui influebat, aquæductum illorum a parte australi extra civitatem dirigeret : et incidi præcepit aquæductum illorum.
ወበሳኒታ፡ ዕለት፡ አውፅአ፡ ሆሎፎርኒስ፡ ኵሎ፡ አፍራሲሁ፡ ቅድሜሆሙ፡ ለደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ እለ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤጤልዋ።
But on the second day Holofernes led out all his horse in the sight of the children of Israel which were in Bethulia,
7:7
καὶ ἐπεσκέψατο τὰς ἀναβάσεις τῆς πόλεως αὐτῶν καὶ τὰς πηγὰς τῶν ὑδάτων ἐφώδευσεν καὶ προκατελάβετο αὐτὰς καὶ ἐπέστησεν αὐταῖς παρεμβολὰς ἀνδρῶν πολεμιστῶν καὶ αὐτὸς ἀνέζευξεν εἰς τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ
Erant tamen non longe a muris fontes, ex quibus furtim videbantur haurire aquam ad refocillandum potius quam ad potandum.
ወፈነወ፡ ሰብአ፡ ዓይን፡ ይርአዩ፡ ፍሥሐታተ፡ አህጉሪሆሙ፡ ወይዑዱ፡ አንቅዕተ፡ ማያቲሆሙ፡ ይቅድምዎ፡ በጺሐ፡ ህየ፡ ወይትዐየንዎሙ፡ ዕደው፡ መስተቃትላን፡ ወውእቱሰ፡ ሮጸ፡ ምስለ፡ ሕዝቡ።
viewed the ascents to their city, and searched out the springs of the waters, seized upon them, and set garrisons of men of war over them. Then he departed back to his people.
7:8
καὶ προσελθόντες αὐτῷ πάντες ἄρχοντες υἱῶν Ησαυ καὶ πάντες οἱ ἡγούμενοι τοῦ λαοῦ Μωαβ καὶ οἱ στρατηγοὶ τῆς παραλίας εἶπαν
Sed filii Ammon et Moab accesserunt ad Holofernem, dicentes : Filii Israël non in lancea nec in sagitta confidunt, sed montes defendunt illos, et muniunt illos colles in præcipitio constituti.
ወመጽኡ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ ኵሉ፡ መላእክተ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ኤሳው፡ ወኵሎሙ፡ መሳፍንተ፡ ቤተ፡ ሞዓብ፡ ወመኳንንተ፡ ጰራልያ።
All the rulers of the children of Esau, all the leaders of the people of Moab, and the captains of the sea coast came to him and said,
7:9
ἀκουσάτω δὴ λόγον ὁ δεσπότης ἡμῶν ἵνα μὴ γένηται θραῦσμα ἐν τῇ δυνάμει σου
Ut ergo sine congressione pugnæ possis superare eos, pone custodes fontium, ut non hauriant aquam ex eis, et sine gladio interficies eos, vel certe fatigati tradent civitatem suam, quam putant in montibus positam superari non posse.
ወይቤልዎ፡ ስማዕ፡ እግዚኦ፡ ቃለነ፡ ከመ፡ ኢይኩን፡ ሙስና፡ ላዕለ፡ ሕዝብከ።
“Let our lord now hear a word, that there be not losses in your army.
7:10
ὁ γὰρ λαὸς οὗτος τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ οὐ πέποιθαν ἐπὶ τοῖς δόρασιν αὐτῶν ἀλλ’ ἐπὶ τοῖς ὕψεσι τῶν ὀρέων ἐν οἷς αὐτοὶ ἐνοικοῦσιν ἐν αὐτοῖς οὐ γάρ ἐστιν εὐχερὲς προσβῆναι ταῖς κορυφαῖς τῶν ὀρέων αὐτῶν
Et placuerunt verba hæc coram Holoferne et coram satellitibus ejus, et constituit per gyrum centenarios per singulos fontes.
እስመ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ሕዝበ፡ ደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ አኮ፡ በኵናቶ፡ ዘይትዌከሉ፡ አላ፡ በላዕለ፡ አጽዋኒሆሙ፡ ወአድባሪሆሙ፡ እለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ውስቴቶሙ፡ እስመ፡ አልቦ፡ ምዕራግ፡ ለአድባሪሆሙ።
For this people of the children of Israel do not trust in their spears, but in the height of the mountains wherein they dwell, for it is not easy to come up to the tops of their mountains.
7:11
καὶ νῦν δέσποτα μὴ πολέμει πρὸς αὐτοὺς καθὼς γίνεται πόλεμος παρατάξεως καὶ οὐ πεσεῖται ἐκ τοῦ λαοῦ σου ἀνὴρ εἷς
Cumque ista custodia per dies viginti fuisset expleta, defecerunt cisternæ et collectiones aquarum omnibus habitantibus Bethuliam, ita ut non esset intra civitatem unde satiarentur vel una die, quoniam ad mensuram dabatur populis aqua quotidie.
ወይእዜኒ፡ እግዚኦ፡ ኢትትቃተሎሙ፡ በሕገ፡ ቀትል፡ ወአልቦ፡ ዘይመውት፡ እምነ፡ ሰብእከ፡ ወኢአሐዱ፡ ብእሲ።
And now, my lord, don’t fight against them as men fight who join battle, and there will not so much as one man of your people perish.
7:12
ἀνάμεινον ἐπὶ τῆς παρεμβολῆς σου διαφυλάσσων πάντα ἄνδρα ἐκ τῆς δυνάμεώς σου καὶ ἐπικρατησάτωσαν οἱ παῖδές σου τῆς πηγῆς τοῦ ὕδατος ἣ ἐκπορεύεται ἐκ τῆς ῥίζης τοῦ ὄρους
Tunc ad Oziam congregati omnes viri feminæque, juvenes et parvuli, omnes simul una voce
ወባሕቱ፡ ጽንሖሙ፡ ምስለ፡ ተዓይኒከ፡ ወይዕቀቡ፡ ኵሎ፡ ዕደወ፡ ኃይልከ፡ ወደቂቅከ፡ ኵሎ፡ አንቅዕተ፡ ማያቲሆሙ፡ ዘይነቅዕ፡ እምጕንደ፡ ደብር፡ ያጸንዑ።
Remain in your camp, and keep every man of your army safe. Let your servants get possession of the water spring, which flows from the foot of the mountain,
7:13
διότι ἐκεῖθεν ὑδρεύονται πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες Βαιτυλουα καὶ ἀνελεῖ αὐτοὺς ἡ δίψα καὶ ἐκδώσουσι τὴν πόλιν αὐτῶν καὶ ἡμεῖς καὶ ὁ λαὸς ἡμῶν ἀναβησόμεθα ἐπὶ τὰς πλησίον κορυφὰς τῶν ὀρέων καὶ παρεμβαλοῦμεν ἐπ’ αὐταῖς εἰς προφυλακὴν τοῦ μὴ ἐξελθεῖν ἐκ τῆς πόλεως ἄνδρα ἕνα
dixerunt : Judicet Deus inter nos et te, quoniam fecisti in nos mala, nolens loqui pacifice cum Assyriis, et propter hoc vendidit nos Deus in manibus eorum.
እስመ፡ እምህየ፡ ይቀድሑ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ እለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ቤጤልዋ፡ ወይቀትሎሙ፡ ጽምዕ፡ ወያገብኡ፡ ድኅሬሆሙ፡ ወንሕነኒ፡ ወሕዝብነኒ፡ ነዓርግ፡ ኀበ፡ ቅሩበ፡ አጽዋኒሆሙ፡ ወአርእስተ፡ አድባሪሆሙ፡ ወነኃድር፡ ህየ፡ ወነዓቅቦሙ፡ ከመ፡ አልቦ፡ ዘይወጽእ፡ እምኔሆሙ፡ ወኢአሐዱ፡ ብእሲ፡ እምውስተ፡ አህጉሪሆሙ።
because all the inhabitants of Bethulia get their water from there. Then thirst will kill them, and they will give up their city. Then we and our people will go up to the tops of the mountains that are near, and will encamp upon them, to watch that not one man gets out of the city.
7:14
καὶ τακήσονται ἐν τῷ λιμῷ αὐτοὶ καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν καὶ πρὶν ἐλθεῖν τὴν ῥομφαίαν ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς καταστρωθήσονται ἐν ταῖς πλατείαις τῆς οἰκήσεως αὐτῶν
Et ideo non est qui adjuvet, cum prosternamur ante oculos eorum in siti, et perditione magna.
ወይጠፍኡ፡ በረሀብ፡ እሙንቱኒ፡ ወአንስቲያሆሙኒ፡ ወውሉዶሙኒ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ ይትቃተልዎሙ፡ ወይትነጽሑ፡ በውስተ፡ ፍና፡ አህጉሪሆሙ።
They will be consumed with famine, they and their wives and their children. Before the sword comes against them they will be laid low in the streets where they dwell.
7:15
καὶ ἀνταποδώσεις αὐτοῖς ἀνταπόδομα πονηρὸν ἀνθ’ ὧν ἐστασίασαν καὶ οὐκ ἀπήντησαν τῷ προσώπῳ σου ἐν εἰρήνῃ
Et nunc congregate universos qui in civitate sunt, ut sponte tradamus nos omnes populo Holofernis.
ወትትቤቀሎሙ፡ እኩየ፡ በቀለ፡ እስመ፡ አዕረሩ፡ ወኢተቀበሉከ፡ በሰላም።
And you will pay them back with evil, because they rebelled, and didn’t meet your face in peace.”
7:16
καὶ ἤρεσαν οἱ λόγοι αὐτῶν ἐνώπιον Ολοφέρνου καὶ ἐνώπιον πάντων τῶν θεραπόντων αὐτοῦ καὶ συνέταξε ποιεῖν καθὰ ἐλάλησαν
Melius est enim ut captivi benedicamus Dominum viventes, quam moriamur, et simus opprobrium omni carni, cum viderimus uxores nostras et infantes nostros mori ante oculos nostros.
ወአደመ፡ ቃሎሙ፡ በቅድሜሁ፡ ለሆሎፎርኒስ፡ ወቅድመ፡ ኵሉ፡ ሰብኡ፡ ወአዘዘ፡ ይግበሩ፡ በከመ፡ ይገብሩ።
Their words were pleasing in the sight of Holofernes and in the sight of all his servants; and he ordered them to do as they had spoken.
7:17
καὶ ἀπῆρεν παρεμβολὴ υἱῶν Αμμων καὶ μετ’ αὐτῶν χιλιάδες πέντε υἱῶν Ασσουρ καὶ παρενέβαλον ἐν τῷ αὐλῶνι καὶ προκατελάβοντο τὰ ὕδατα καὶ τὰς πηγὰς τῶν ὑδάτων τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ
Contestamur hodie cælum et terram, et Deum patrum nostrorum, qui ulciscitur nos secundum peccata nostra, ut jam tradatis civitatem in manu militiæ Holofernis, et sit finis noster brevis in ore gladii, qui longior efficitur in ariditate sitis.
ወግዕዙ፡ ተዓይኒሆሙ፡ ለደቂቀ፡ አሞን፡ ወምስሌሆሙ፡ ፶፻፡ ደቂቀ፡ አሶር፡ ወኃደሩ፡ ውስተ፡ ዓውሎኒ፡ ወቀደሙ፡ አጽንኦ፡ ማያቲሆሙ፡ ወአንቅዕቲሆሙ፡ ለደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል።
And the army of the children of Ammon moved, and with them five thousand of the children of Asshur, and they encamped in the valley. They seized the waters and the springs of the waters of the children of Israel.
7:18
καὶ ἀνέβησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ησαυ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων καὶ παρενέβαλον ἐν τῇ ὀρεινῇ ἀπέναντι Δωθαϊμ καὶ ἀπέστειλαν ἐξ αὐτῶν πρὸς νότον καὶ ἀπηλιώτην ἀπέναντι Εγρεβηλ ἥ ἐστιν πλησίον Χους ἥ ἐστιν ἐπὶ τοῦ χειμάρρου Μοχμουρ καὶ ἡ λοιπὴ στρατιὰ τῶν Ἀσσυρίων παρενέβαλον ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ καὶ ἐκάλυψαν πᾶν τὸ πρόσωπον τῆς γῆς καὶ αἱ σκηναὶ καὶ αἱ ἀπαρτίαι αὐτῶν κατεστρατοπέδευσαν ἐν ὄχλῳ πολλῷ καὶ ἦσαν εἰς πλῆθος πολὺ σφόδρα
Et cum hæc dixissent, factus est fletus et ululatus magnus in ecclesia ab omnibus, et per multas horas una voce clamaverunt ad Deum, dicentes :
ወዐርጉ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ኤሳው፡ ወደቂቀ፡ አሞን፡ ወኃደሩ፡ ውስተ፡ አድባር፡ አንፃረ፡ ዶታይም፡ ወፈነዉ፡ እምውስቴቶሙ፡ እለ፡ መንገለ፡ ዓረብ፡ ዘአዜብ፡ ወኤጴልዮጤን፡ ዘአንፃረ፡ ኤጴራቤል፡ ዘገቦ፡ ኩሲ፡ በኀበ፡ ፈለገ፡ ምኩር፡ ወዘተርፈ፡ ሠራዊቶሙ፡ ለፋርስ፡ ተዓየኑ፡ ውስተ፡ ገዳም፡ ወከደኑ፡ ውስተ፡ ኵሉ፡ ገጸ፡ ምድር፡ ወእምዝ፡ ዓግአዙ፡ ተአይኒሆሙ፡ ወንዋዮሙኒ፡ ብዙኃ፡ ሰብእ፡ ጥቀ፡ ዘአልቦ፡ ዘይበዝኆሙ።
The children of Esau went up with the children of Ammon, and encamped in the hill country near Dothaim. They sent some of them toward the south, and toward the east, near Ekrebel, which is near Chusi, that is upon the brook Mochmur. The rest of the army of the Assyrians encamped in the plain, and covered all the face of the land. Their tents and baggage were pitched upon it in a great crowd. They were an exceedingly great multitude.
7:19
καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἀνεβόησαν πρὸς κύριον θεὸν αὐτῶν ὅτι ὠλιγοψύχησεν τὸ πνεῦμα αὐτῶν ὅτι ἐκύκλωσαν πάντες οἱ ἐχθροὶ αὐτῶν καὶ οὐκ ἦν διαφυγεῖν ἐκ μέσου αὐτῶν
Peccavimus cum patribus nostris : injuste egimus, iniquitatem fecimus.
ወጸርሑ፡ ደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ ኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላኮሙ፡ እስመ፡ አንበዘት፡ ነፍሶሙ፡ እስመ፡ አገትዎሙ፡ ኵሉ፡ ፀሮሙ፡ ወአልቦሙ፡ ሙፃእ፡ እምነ፡ ማዕከሎሙ።
The children of Israel cried to the Lord their God, for their spirit fainted; for all their enemies had surrounded them. There was no way to escape out from among them.
7:20
καὶ ἔμεινεν κύκλῳ αὐτῶν πᾶσα παρεμβολὴ Ασσουρ οἱ πεζοὶ καὶ ἅρματα καὶ οἱ ἱππεῖς αὐτῶν ἡμέρας τριάκοντα τέσσαρας καὶ ἐξέλιπεν πάντας τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Βαιτυλουα πάντα τὰ ἀγγεῖα αὐτῶν τῶν ὑδάτων
Tu, quia pius es, miserere nostri, aut in tuo flagello vindica iniquitates nostras, et noli tradere confitentes te populo qui ignorat te,
ወነበሩ፡ ደቂቀ፡ አሶር፡ ምስለ፡ ኵሉ፡ ተዓይኒሆሙ፡ የዓግትዎሙ፡ አጋሮሙኒ፡ ወሰብአ፡ ሠረገላትኒ፡ ወሰብአ፡ አፍራስኒ፡ ሠሉሰ፡ ወረቡዓ፡ መዋዕለ፡ ወኃልቀ፡ ኵሉ፡ ሙዳየ፡ ማዮሙ፡ ለእለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ቤጤልዋ።
All the army of Asshur remained around them, their footmen and their chariots and their horsemen, thirty-four days. All their vessels of water ran dry for all the inhabitants of Bethulia.
7:21
καὶ οἱ λάκκοι ἐξεκενοῦντο καὶ οὐκ εἶχον πιεῖν εἰς πλησμονὴν ὕδωρ ἡμέραν μίαν ὅτι ἐν μέτρῳ ἐδίδοσαν αὐτοῖς πιεῖν
ut non dicant inter gentes : Ubi est Deus eorum ?
ወአልቦ፡ ዘይሰትዩ፡ ማይ፡ ወዘያረውዮሙ፡ ወበመስፈርት፡ ገብኡ፡ ይስተዩ።
The cisterns were emptied, and they had no water to drink their fill for one day; for they rationed drink by measure.
7:22
καὶ ἠθύμησεν τὰ νήπια αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες καὶ οἱ νεανίσκοι ἐξέλιπον ἀπὸ τῆς δίψης καὶ ἔπιπτον ἐν ταῖς πλατείαις τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἐν ταῖς διόδοις τῶν πυλῶν καὶ οὐκ ἦν κραταίωσις ἔτι ἐν αὐτοῖς
Et cum fatigati ex his clamoribus et his fletibus lassati siluissent,
ወሐሙ፡ ደቂቆሙ፡ ወአንስቲያሆሙ፡ ወወራዙቶሙ፡ ወሐልቁ፡ በጽምዕ፡ ወይወድቁ፡ ውስተ፡ መርህበ፡ ሀገር፡ ወውስተ፡ ፍናወ፡ አናቅጽ፡ ወአልቦሙ፡ ኃይል፡ እንከ።
Their young children were discouraged. The women and the young men fainted for thirst. They fell down in the streets of the city, and in the passages of the gates. There was no longer any strength in them.
7:23
καὶ ἐπισυνήχθησαν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἐπὶ Οζιαν καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας τῆς πόλεως οἱ νεανίσκοι καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες καὶ τὰ παιδία καὶ ἀνεβόησαν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ καὶ εἶπαν ἐναντίον πάντων τῶν πρεσβυτέρων
exsurgens Ozias infusus lacrimis, dixit : Æquo animo estote, fratres, et hos quinque dies expectemus a Domino misericordiam.
ወተጋብኡ፡ ኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ላዕለ፡ ዖዝያን፡ ወመላእክተ፡ ሀገርኒ፡ ወወራዙትኒ፡ ወአንስትኒ፡ ወደቂቅኒ፡ ወጸርሑ፡ በዓቢይ፡ ቃል፡ ወይቤሉ፡ በቅድመ፡ ኵሉ፡ ሊቃውንቲሆሙ።
All the people, including the young men, the women, and the children, were gathered together against Ozias, and against the rulers of the city. They cried with a loud voice, and said before all the elders,
7:24
κρίναι ὁ θεὸς ἀνὰ μέσον ὑμῶν καὶ ἡμῶν ὅτι ἐποιήσατε ἐν ἡμῖν ἀδικίαν μεγάλην οὐ λαλήσαντες εἰρηνικὰ μετὰ υἱῶν Ασσουρ
Forsitan enim indignationem suam abscindet, et dabit gloriam nomini suo.
ይፍታሕ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ማዕከሌነ፡ ወማዕከሌክሙ፡ ከመ፡ ትግበሩ፡ ላዕሌነ፡ ዓቢየ፡ ግፍዐ፡ ዘኢተናገርክሙ፡ ዳህነ፡ በሰላም፡ ምስለ፡ ደቂቀ፡ አሶር።
“God be judge between all of you and us, because you have done us great wrong, in that you have not spoken words of peace with the children of Asshur.
7:25
καὶ νῦν οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ βοηθὸς ἡμῶν ἀλλὰ πέπρακεν ἡμᾶς ὁ θεὸς εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν τοῦ καταστρωθῆναι ἐναντίον αὐτῶν ἐν δίψῃ καὶ ἀπωλείᾳ μεγάλῃ
Si autem transactis quinque diebus non venerit adjutorium, faciemus hæc verba quæ locuti estis.
ወይእዜሰ፡ ኃጣእነ፡ ዘይረድአነ፡ ሦጠነ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ውስተ፡ እዴሆሙ፡ ከመ፡ ንደቅ፡ ቅድሜሆሙ፡ በጽምዕ፡ በዓቢይ፡ ኃጕል።
Now we have no helper; but God has sold us into their hands, that we should be laid low before them with thirst and great destruction.
7:26
καὶ νῦν ἐπικαλέσασθε αὐτοὺς καὶ ἔκδοσθε τὴν πόλιν πᾶσαν εἰς προνομὴν τῷ λαῷ Ολοφέρνου καὶ πάσῃ τῇ δυνάμει αὐτοῦ
—
ወይእዜኒ፡ ግርሩ፡ ሎሙ፡ ወአግብኡ፡ ኵሎ፡ አህጉሪክሙ፡ ወይበርብሩ፡ ሕዝበ፡ ሆሎፎርኒስ፡ ወኵሉ፡ ኃይሉ።
And now summon them, and deliver up the whole city as prey to the people of Holofernes, and to all his army.
7:27
κρεῖσσον γὰρ ἡμῖν γενηθῆναι αὐτοῖς εἰς διαρπαγήν ἐσόμεθα γὰρ εἰς δούλους καὶ ζήσεται ἡ ψυχὴ ἡμῶν καὶ οὐκ ὀψόμεθα τὸν θάνατον τῶν νηπίων ἡμῶν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὰ τέκνα ἡμῶν ἐκλειπούσας τὰς ψυχὰς αὐτῶν
—
እስመ፡ ይኄይሰነ፡ ይበርብሩነ፡ ወንትቀነይ፡ ሎሙ፡ ወትሕየው፡ ነፍስነ፡ ወኢንርአይ፡ ሞተ፡ ደቂቅነ፡ በአዕይንቲነ፡ እስመ፡ ኀልቀት፡ ነፍሶሙ፡ ለአንስቲያነ፡ ወደቂቅነ።
For it is better for us to be made a plunder to them. For we will be servants, and our souls will live, and we will not see the death of our babies before our eyes, and our wives and our children fainting in death.
7:28
μαρτυρόμεθα ὑμῖν τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ τὸν θεὸν ἡμῶν καὶ κύριον τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν ὃς ἐκδικεῖ ἡμᾶς κατὰ τὰς ἁμαρτίας ἡμῶν καὶ κατὰ τὰ ἁμαρτήματα τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν ἵνα μὴ ποιήσῃ κατὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ σήμερον
—
ወናሁ፡ ናሰምዕ፡ ለክሙ፡ ሰማየ፡ ወምድረ፡ ወአምላከ፡ አበዊነ፡ ዘውእቱ፡ ይኴንነነ፡ በከመ፡ ኃጣውኢነ፡ ወበከመ፡ ኃጣውኢሆሙ፡ ለአበዊነ፡ ከመ፡ ኢትግበሩ፡ ዘንተ፡ ነገረ፡ ዮም፡ በዛቲ፡ ዕለት።
We take to witness against you the heaven and the earth, and our God and the Lord of our fathers, who punishes us according to our sins and the sins of our fathers. Do what we have said today!”
7:29
καὶ ἐγένετο κλαυθμὸς μέγας ἐν μέσῳ τῆς ἐκκλησίας πάντων ὁμοθυμαδόν καὶ ἐβόησαν πρὸς κύριον τὸν θεὸν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ
—
ወኮነ፡ ብካይ፡ ዓቢይ፡ በማዕከለ፡ ማኅበሮሙ፡ ወበከዩ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ኅቡረ፡ ወጸርሑ፡ በዓቢይ፡ ቃል፡ ኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
And there was great weeping of all with one consent in the midst of the assembly; and they cried to the Lord God with a loud voice.
7:30
καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς Οζιας θαρσεῖτε ἀδελφοί διακαρτερήσωμεν ἔτι πέντε ἡμέρας ἐν αἷς ἐπιστρέψει κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς οὐ γὰρ ἐγκαταλείψει ἡμᾶς εἰς τέλος
—
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ኦዝያስ፡ ተአመኑ፡ አኃዊነ፡ ወተዓገሡ፡ ዓዲ፡ ሐሙሰ፡ መዋዕለ፡ እስከ፡ ይመይጥ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክነ፡ ምሕረቶ፡ መንገሌነ፡ እስመ፡ አኮ፡ ለዝሉፉ፡ ዘይገድፈነ።
And Ozias said to them, “Brethren, be of good courage! Let us endure five more days, during which the Lord our God will turn his mercy toward us; for he will not forsake us utterly.
7:31
ἐὰν δὲ διέλθωσιν αὗται καὶ μὴ ἔλθῃ ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς βοήθεια ποιήσω κατὰ τὰ ῥήματα ὑμῶν
—
ወእምከመ፡ ኃለፉ፡ እማንቱ፡ መዋዕል፡ ወኢመጽአ፡ ረድኤቱ፡ ላዕሌነ፡ ንገብር፡ ዘከመ፡ ትቤሉ።
But if these days pass, and no help comes to us, I will do what you say.”
7:32
καὶ ἐσκόρπισεν τὸν λαὸν εἰς τὴν ἑαυτοῦ παρεμβολήν καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ τείχη καὶ τοὺς πύργους τῆς πόλεως αὐτῶν ἀπῆλθον καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὰ τέκνα εἰς τοὺς οἴκους αὐτῶν ἀπέστειλαν καὶ ἦσαν ἐν ταπεινώσει πολλῇ ἐν τῇ πόλει
—
ወዘረዎሙ፡ ለሕዝብ፡ ውስተ፡ ትዕይንቶሙ፡ ወውስተ፡ ማኅፈዲሆሙ፡ ወውስተ፡ ዐረፍተ፡ ሀገሮሙ፡ ወሖሩ፡ ወፈነዉ፡ አንስቲያሆሙ፡ ወሕሙማን፡ እሙንቱ፡ ጥቀ፡ ውስተ፡ ሀገር።
Then he dispersed the people, every man to his own camp; and they went away to the walls and towers of their city. He sent the women and children into their houses. They were brought very low in the city.
