47:1
וַיָּבֹ֣א יוֹסֵף֮ וַיַּגֵּ֣ד לְפַרְעֹה֒ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אָבִ֨י וְאַחַ֜י וְצֹאנָ֤ם וּבְקָרָם֙ וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָהֶ֔ם בָּ֖אוּ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וְהִנָּ֖ם בְּאֶ֥רֶץ גֹּֽשֶׁן׃
ἐλθὼν δὲ Ιωσηφ ἀπήγγειλεν τῷ Φαραω λέγων ὁ πατήρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου καὶ τὰ κτήνη καὶ οἱ βόες αὐτῶν καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτῶν ἦλθον ἐκ γῆς Χανααν καὶ ἰδού εἰσιν ἐν γῇ Γεσεμ
Ingressus ergo Joseph nuntiavit Pharaoni, dicens : Pater meus et fratres, oves eorum et armenta, et cuncta quae possident, venerunt de terra Chanaan : et ecce consistunt in terra Gessen.
ወመጽአ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ወነገሮ ፡ ለፈርዖን ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ አቡየ ፡ ወአኀዊየ ፡ ወእንስሳሆሙ ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ንዋዮሙ ፡ መጽኡ ፡ እምድረ ፡ ከናአን ፡ ወናሁ ፡ በጽሑ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ጌሴም ።
Then Joseph went in and told Pharaoh, and said, “My father and my brothers, with their flocks, their herds, and all that they own, have come out of the land of Canaan; and behold, they are in the land of Goshen.”
47:2
וּמִקְצֵ֣ה אֶחָ֔יו לָקַ֖ח חֲמִשָּׁ֣ה אֲנָשִׁ֑ים וַיַּצִּגֵ֖ם לִפְנֵ֥י פַרְעֹֽה׃
ἀπὸ δὲ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ παρέλαβεν πέντε ἄνδρας καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτοὺς ἐναντίον Φαραω
Extremos quoque fratrum suorum quinque viros constituit coram rege :
ወነሥአ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ እምአኀዊሁ ፡ ኀምስተ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ወአብጽሖሙ ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ፈርዖን ።
From among his brothers he took five men, and presented them to Pharaoh.
47:3
וַיֹּ֧אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֛ה אֶל־אֶחָ֖יו מַה־מַּעֲשֵׂיכֶ֑ם וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֗ה רֹעֵ֥ה צֹאן֙ עֲבָדֶ֔יךָ גַּם־אֲנַ֖חְנוּ גַּם־אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Φαραω τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς Ιωσηφ τί τὸ ἔργον ὑμῶν οἱ δὲ εἶπαν τῷ Φαραω ποιμένες προβάτων οἱ παῖδές σου καὶ ἡμεῖς καὶ οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν
quos ille interrogavit : Quid habetis operis ? Responderunt : Pastores ovium sumus servi tui, et nos et patres nostri.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ፈርዖን ፡ ለአኀዊሁ ፡ ለዮሴፍ ፡ ምንት ፡ ተግባርክሙ ፤ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ለፈርዖን ፡ ኖሎተ ፡ አባግዕ ፡ ንሕነ ፡ አግብርቲከ ፡ ንሕነሂ ፡ ወአበዊነሂ ።
Pharaoh said to his brothers, “What is your occupation?” They said to Pharaoh, “Your servants are shepherds, both we, and our fathers.”
47:4
וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֗ה לָג֣וּר בָּאָ֘רֶץ֮ בָּ֒אנוּ֒ כִּי־אֵ֣ין מִרְעֶ֗ה לַצֹּאן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לַעֲבָדֶ֔יךָ כִּֽי־כָבֵ֥ד הָרָעָ֖ב בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וְעַתָּ֛ה יֵֽשְׁבוּ־נָ֥א עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ בְּאֶ֥רֶץ גֹּֽשֶׁן׃
εἶπαν δὲ τῷ Φαραω παροικεῖν ἐν τῇ γῇ ἥκαμεν οὐ γάρ ἐστιν νομὴ τοῖς κτήνεσιν τῶν παίδων σου ἐνίσχυσεν γὰρ ὁ λιμὸς ἐν γῇ Χανααν νῦν οὖν κατοικήσομεν οἱ παῖδές σου ἐν γῇ Γεσεμ
Ad peregrinandum in terra tua venimus : quoniam non est herba gregibus servorum tuorum, ingravescente fame in terra Chanaan : petimusque ut esse nos jubeas servos tuos in terra Gessen.
ወይቤልዎ ፡ ለፈርዖን ፡ አኅድረነ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ ኀበ ፡ መጻእነ ፡ እስመ ፡ አልቦ ፡ ምርዓየ ፡ ለእንስሳ ፡ አግብርቲከ ፡ ወዐብየ ፡ ረኃብ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ከናአን ፤ ወይእዜኒ ፡ አኅድር ፡ አግብርቲከ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ጌሴም ።
They also said to Pharaoh, “We have come to live as foreigners in the land, for there is no pasture for your servants’ flocks. For the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. Now therefore, please let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen.”
47:5
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֔ה אֶל־יוֹסֵ֖ף לֵאמֹ֑ר אָבִ֥יךָ וְאַחֶ֖יךָ בָּ֥אוּ אֵלֶֽיךָ׃
εἶπεν δὲ Φαραω τῷ Ιωσφη κατοικείτωσαν ἐν γῇ Γεσεμ εἰ δὲ ἐπίστῃ ὅτι εἰσὶν ἐν αὐτοῖς ἄνδρες δυνατοί κατάστησον αὐτοὺς ἄρχοντας τῶν ἐμῶν κτηνῶν ἦλθον δὲ εἰς Αἴγυπτον πρὸς Ιωσηφ Ιακωβ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἤκουσεν Φαραω βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου καὶ εἶπεν Φαραω πρὸς Ιωσηφ λέγων ὁ πατήρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου ἥκασι πρὸς σέ
Dixit itaque rex ad Joseph : Pater tuus et fratres tui venerunt ad te.
ወይቤሎ ፡ ፈርዖን ፡ ለዮሴፍ ፡ እስመ ፡ መጽኡ ፡ አቡከ ፡ ወአኀዊከ ፡ ኀቤከ ፤
Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying, “Your father and your brothers have come to you.
47:6
אֶ֤רֶץ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ לְפָנֶ֣יךָ הִ֔וא בְּמֵיטַ֣ב הָאָ֔רֶץ הוֹשֵׁ֥ב אֶת־אָבִ֖יךָ וְאֶת־אַחֶ֑יךָ יֵשְׁבוּ֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ גֹּ֔שֶׁן וְאִם־יָדַ֗עְתָּ וְיֶשׁ־בָּם֙ אַנְשֵׁי־חַ֔יִל וְשַׂמְתָּ֛ם שָׂרֵ֥י מִקְנֶ֖ה עַל־אֲשֶׁר־לִֽי׃
ἰδοὺ ἡ γῆ Αἰγύπτου ἐναντίον σού ἐστιν ἐν τῇ βελτίστῃ γῇ κατοίκισον τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου
Terra Aegypti in conspectu tuo est : in optimo loco fac eos habitare, et trade eis terram Gessen. Quod si nosti in eis esse viros industrios, constitue illos magistros pecorum meorum.
ናሁ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ቅድሜከ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እንተ ፡ ትኄይስ ፡ ይኅድሩ ፡ አቡከ ፡ ወአኀዊከ ፡ ወእመሰ ፡ ቦቱ ፡ እለ ፡ ታአምር ፡ ከመ ፡ ቦቱ ፡ ጽኑዓነ ፡ በውስቴቶሙ ፡ ዕደወ ፡ ሢሞሙ ፡ መላእክተ ፡ ኖሎት ፡ ለእንስሳየ ።
The land of Egypt is before you. Make your father and your brothers dwell in the best of the land. Let them dwell in the land of Goshen. If you know any able men among them, then put them in charge of my livestock.”
47:7
וַיָּבֵ֤א יוֹסֵף֙ אֶת־יַֽעֲקֹ֣ב אָבִ֔יו וַיַּֽעֲמִדֵ֖הוּ לִפְנֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֑ה וַיְבָ֥רֶךְ יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת־פַּרְעֹֽה׃
εἰσήγαγεν δὲ Ιωσηφ Ιακωβ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτὸν ἐναντίον Φαραω καὶ εὐλόγησεν Ιακωβ τὸν Φαραω
Post haec introduxit Joseph patrem suum ad regem, et statuit eum coram eo : qui benedicens illi,
ወአምጽኦ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ለአቡሁ ፡ ወአቀሞ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ፈርዖን ፡ ወባረኮ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ለፈርዖን ።
Joseph brought in Jacob, his father, and set him before Pharaoh; and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
47:8
וַיֹּ֥אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֖ה אֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֑ב כַּמָּ֕ה יְמֵ֖י שְׁנֵ֥י חַיֶּֽיךָ׃
εἶπεν δὲ Φαραω τῷ Ιακωβ πόσα ἔτη ἡμερῶν τῆς ζωῆς σου
et interrogatus ab eo : Quot sunt dies annorum vitae tuae ?
ወይቤሎ ፡ ፈርዖን ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ሚመጠን ፡ መዋዕል ፡ ዘሐየውከ ።
Pharaoh said to Jacob, “How old are you?”
47:9
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יַעֲקֹב֙ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֔ה יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵ֣י מְגוּרַ֔י שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים וּמְאַ֖ת שָׁנָ֑ה מְעַ֣ט וְרָעִ֗ים הָיוּ֙ יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵ֣י חַיַּ֔י וְלֹ֣א הִשִּׂ֗יגוּ אֶת־יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵי֙ חַיֵּ֣י אֲבֹתַ֔י בִּימֵ֖י מְגוּרֵיהֶֽם׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ιακωβ τῷ Φαραω αἱ ἡμέραι τῶν ἐτῶν τῆς ζωῆς μου ἃς παροικῶ ἑκατὸν τριάκοντα ἔτη μικραὶ καὶ πονηραὶ γεγόνασιν αἱ ἡμέραι τῶν ἐτῶν τῆς ζωῆς μου οὐκ ἀφίκοντο εἰς τὰς ἡμέρας τῶν ἐτῶν τῆς ζωῆς τῶν πατέρων μου ἃς ἡμέρας παρῴκησαν
respondit : Dies peregrinationis meae centum triginta annorum sunt, parvi et mali, et non pervenerunt usque ad dies patrum meorum quibus peregrinati sunt.
ወይቤሎ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ለፈርዖን ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ ሕይወትየሰ ፡ ዘሐየውኩ ፡ ምእት ፡ ወሠላሳ ፡ እማንቱ ፡ ዓመት ፡ ሕዳጥ ፡ ወእኩያተ ፡ ኮናኒ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ ሕይወትየ ፡ ወዓመትየኒ ፡ ወኢከመ ፡ ምንት ፡ ኮናኒ ፡ በኀበ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ አበዊየ ፡ ዘሐይው ።
Jacob said to Pharaoh, “The years of my pilgrimage are one hundred thirty years. The days of the years of my life have been few and evil. They have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.”
47:10
וַיְבָ֥רֶךְ יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת־פַּרְעֹ֑ה וַיֵּצֵ֖א מִלִּפְנֵ֥י פַרְעֹֽה׃
καὶ εὐλογήσας Ιακωβ τὸν Φαραω ἐξῆλθεν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ
Et benedicto rege, egressus est foras.
ወሶበ ፡ ባረኮ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ለፈርዖን ፡ ወፅአ ፡ እምኀቤሁ ።
Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from the presence of Pharaoh.
47:11
וַיּוֹשֵׁ֣ב יוֹסֵף֮ אֶת־אָבִ֣יו וְאֶת־אֶחָיו֒ וַיִּתֵּ֨ן לָהֶ֤ם אֲחֻזָּה֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בְּמֵיטַ֥ב הָאָ֖רֶץ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ רַעְמְסֵ֑ס כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֥ה פַרְעֹֽה׃
καὶ κατῴκισεν Ιωσηφ τὸν πατέρα καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς κατάσχεσιν ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτου ἐν τῇ βελτίστῃ γῇ ἐν γῇ Ραμεσση καθὰ προσέταξεν Φαραω
Joseph vero patri et fratribus suis dedit possessionem in Aegypto in optimo terrae loco, Ramesses, ut praeceperat Pharao.
ወአኅደሮሙ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ለአቡሁ ፡ ወለአኀዊሁ ፡ ወወሀቦሙ ፡ ምኵናነ ፡ በምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እንተ ፡ ትኄይስ ፡ ምድር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ [ራምሴ ፡] ዘአዘዘ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ፈርዖን ።
Joseph placed his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
47:12
וַיְכַלְכֵּ֤ל יוֹסֵף֙ אֶת־אָבִ֣יו וְאֶת־אֶחָ֔יו וְאֵ֖ת כׇּל־בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֑יו לֶ֖חֶם לְפִ֥י הַטָּֽף׃
καὶ ἐσιτομέτρει Ιωσηφ τῷ πατρὶ καὶ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ παντὶ τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ σῖτον κατὰ σῶμα
Et alebat eos, omnemque domum patris sui, praebens cibaria singulis.
ወዮሴፍ ፡ ይሰፍር ፡ ስርናየ ፡ ሲሳየ ፡ [ለ]አቡሁ ፡ ወለአኀዊሁ ፡ ወለኵሉ ፡ ቤተ ፡ አቡሁ ፡ ለለ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ ነፍስ ፡ ይሰፍር ፡ ሲሳየ ፡ ስርናየ ።
Joseph provided his father, his brothers, and all of his father’s household with bread, according to the sizes of their families.
47:13
וְלֶ֤חֶם אֵין֙ בְּכׇל־הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּֽי־כָבֵ֥ד הָרָעָ֖ב מְאֹ֑ד וַתֵּ֜לַהּ אֶ֤רֶץ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ וְאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן מִפְּנֵ֖י הָרָעָֽב׃
σῖτος δὲ οὐκ ἦν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ ἐνίσχυσεν γὰρ ὁ λιμὸς σφόδρα ἐξέλιπεν δὲ ἡ γῆ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἡ γῆ Χανααν ἀπὸ τοῦ λιμοῦ
In toto enim orbe panis deerat, et oppresserat fames terram, maxime Aegypti et Chanaan.
ወአልቦ ፡ ስርናየ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ እስመ ፡ ዐብየ ፡ ረኃብ ፡ ጥቀ ፡ ወኀልቀ ፡ በረኃብ ፡ ብሔረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወከናአን ።
There was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.
47:14
וַיְלַקֵּ֣ט יוֹסֵ֗ף אֶת־כׇּל־הַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ הַנִּמְצָ֤א בְאֶֽרֶץ־מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ וּבְאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן בַּשֶּׁ֖בֶר אֲשֶׁר־הֵ֣ם שֹׁבְרִ֑ים וַיָּבֵ֥א יוֹסֵ֛ף אֶת־הַכֶּ֖סֶף בֵּ֥יתָה פַרְעֹֽה׃
συνήγαγεν δὲ Ιωσηφ πᾶν τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ εὑρεθὲν ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐν γῇ Χανααν τοῦ σίτου οὗ ἠγόραζον καὶ ἐσιτομέτρει αὐτοῖς καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν Ιωσηφ πᾶν τὸ ἀργύριον εἰς τὸν οἶκον Φαραω
E quibus omnem pecuniam congregavit pro venditione frumenti, et intulit eam in aerarium regis.
ወአስተጋብአ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ወርቀ ፡ ዘአምጽኡ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወሰብአ ፡ ከናአን ፡ ሤጠ ፡ እክል ፡ ዘሤጠ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ወአብአ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ወርቀ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ፈርዖን ።
Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.
47:15
וַיִּתֹּ֣ם הַכֶּ֗סֶף מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֘יִם֮ וּמֵאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֒עַן֒ וַיָּבֹ֩אוּ֩ כׇל־מִצְרַ֨יִם אֶל־יוֹסֵ֤ף לֵאמֹר֙ הָֽבָה־לָּ֣נוּ לֶ֔חֶם וְלָ֥מָּה נָמ֖וּת נֶגְדֶּ֑ךָ כִּ֥י אָפֵ֖ס כָּֽסֶף׃
καὶ ἐξέλιπεν πᾶν τὸ ἀργύριον ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐκ γῆς Χανααν ἦλθον δὲ πάντες οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι πρὸς Ιωσηφ λέγοντες δὸς ἡμῖν ἄρτους καὶ ἵνα τί ἀποθνῄσκομεν ἐναντίον σου ἐκλέλοιπεν γὰρ τὸ ἀργύριον ἡμῶν
Cumque defecisset emptoribus pretium, venit cuncta Aegyptus ad Joseph, dicens : Da nobis panes : quare morimur coram te, deficiente pecunia ?
ወኀልቀ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ወርቅ ፡ ዘብሔረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወዘብሔረ ፡ ከናአን ፡ ወመጽኡ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ሀበነ ፡ እክለ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢንሙት ፡ በቅድሜከ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኀልቀ ፡ ወርቅነ ።
When the money was all spent in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph, and said, “Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For our money fails.”
47:16
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ הָב֣וּ מִקְנֵיכֶ֔ם וְאֶתְּנָ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם בְּמִקְנֵיכֶ֑ם אִם־אָפֵ֖ס כָּֽסֶף׃
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς Ιωσηφ φέρετε τὰ κτήνη ὑμῶν καὶ δώσω ὑμῖν ἄρτους ἀντὶ τῶν κτηνῶν ὑμῶν εἰ ἐκλέλοιπεν τὸ ἀργύριον
Quibus ille respondit : Adducite pecora vestra, et dabo vobis pro eis cibos, si pretium non habetis.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ አምጽኡ ፡ እንስሳክሙ ፡ ወአሀብክሙ ፡ እክለ ፡ ህየንተ ፡ እንስሳክሙ ፡ እመ ፡ ኀልቀ ፡ ወርቅክሙ ።
Joseph said, “Give me your livestock; and I will give you food for your livestock, if your money is gone.”
47:17
וַיָּבִ֣יאוּ אֶת־מִקְנֵיהֶם֮ אֶל־יוֹסֵף֒ וַיִּתֵּ֣ן לָהֶם֩ יוֹסֵ֨ף לֶ֜חֶם בַּסּוּסִ֗ים וּבְמִקְנֵ֥ה הַצֹּ֛אן וּבְמִקְנֵ֥ה הַבָּקָ֖ר וּבַחֲמֹרִ֑ים וַיְנַהֲלֵ֤ם בַּלֶּ֙חֶם֙ בְּכׇל־מִקְנֵהֶ֔ם בַּשָּׁנָ֖ה הַהִֽוא׃
ἤγαγον δὲ τὰ κτήνη πρὸς Ιωσηφ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς Ιωσηφ ἄρτους ἀντὶ τῶν ἵππων καὶ ἀντὶ τῶν προβάτων καὶ ἀντὶ τῶν βοῶν καὶ ἀντὶ τῶν ὄνων καὶ ἐξέθρεψεν αὐτοὺς ἐν ἄρτοις ἀντὶ πάντων τῶν κτηνῶν αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ ἐκείνῳ
Quae cum adduxissent, dedit eis alimenta pro equis, et ovibus, et bobus, et asinis : sustentavitque eos illo anno pro commutatione pecorum.
ወአምጽኡ ፡ እንስሳሆሙ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ወወሀቦሙ ፡ እክለ ፡ ህየንተ ፡ አባግዒሆሙ ፡ ወአልህምቲሆሙ ፡ ወህየንተ ፡ አእዱጊሆሙ ፡ ሴሰዮሙ ፡ እክለ ፡ በይእቲ ፡ ዓመት ።
They brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for the horses, and for the flocks, and for the herds, and for the donkeys: and he fed them with bread in exchange for all their livestock for that year.
47:18
וַתִּתֹּם֮ הַשָּׁנָ֣ה הַהִוא֒ וַיָּבֹ֨אוּ אֵלָ֜יו בַּשָּׁנָ֣ה הַשֵּׁנִ֗ית וַיֹּ֤אמְרוּ לוֹ֙ לֹֽא־נְכַחֵ֣ד מֵֽאֲדֹנִ֔י כִּ֚י אִם־תַּ֣ם הַכֶּ֔סֶף וּמִקְנֵ֥ה הַבְּהֵמָ֖ה אֶל־אֲדֹנִ֑י לֹ֤א נִשְׁאַר֙ לִפְנֵ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔י בִּלְתִּ֥י אִם־גְּוִיָּתֵ֖נוּ וְאַדְמָתֵֽנוּ׃
ἐξῆλθεν δὲ τὸ ἔτος ἐκεῖνο καὶ ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ δευτέρῳ καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ μήποτε ἐκτριβῶμεν ἀπὸ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν εἰ γὰρ ἐκλέλοιπεν τὸ ἀργύριον καὶ τὰ ὑπάρχοντα καὶ τὰ κτήνη πρὸς σὲ τὸν κύριον καὶ οὐχ ὑπολείπεται ἡμῖν ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν ἀλλ’ ἢ τὸ ἴδιον σῶμα καὶ ἡ γῆ ἡμῶν
Venerunt quoque anno secundo, et dixerunt ei : Non celabimus dominum nostrum quod deficiente pecunia, pecora simul defecerunt : nec clam te est, quod absque corporibus et terra nihil habeamus.
ወኀልቀት ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ዓመት ፡ ወመጽኡ ፡ ኀቤሁ ፡ በካልእት ፡ ዓመት ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢንሙት ፡ ወኢንኅለቅ ፡ ለእግዚእነ ፡ እስመ ፡ ተወድአ ፡ ወርቅነሂ ፡ ወንዋይነሂ ፡ ወእንስሳነሂ ፡ ወአኅለቅናሁ ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘተረፈ ፡ ለነ ፡ በቅድሜከ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ሥጋነ ፡ ዘዚአነ ፡ ወምድርነ ።
When that year was ended, they came to him the second year, and said to him, “We will not hide from my lord how our money is all spent, and the herds of livestock are my lord’s. There is nothing left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands.
47:19
לָ֧מָּה נָמ֣וּת לְעֵינֶ֗יךָ גַּם־אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ גַּ֣ם אַדְמָתֵ֔נוּ קְנֵֽה־אֹתָ֥נוּ וְאֶת־אַדְמָתֵ֖נוּ בַּלָּ֑חֶם וְנִֽהְיֶ֞ה אֲנַ֤חְנוּ וְאַדְמָתֵ֙נוּ֙ עֲבָדִ֣ים לְפַרְעֹ֔ה וְתֶן־זֶ֗רַע וְנִֽחְיֶה֙ וְלֹ֣א נָמ֔וּת וְהָאֲדָמָ֖ה לֹ֥א תֵשָֽׁם׃
ἵνα οὖν μὴ ἀποθάνωμεν ἐναντίον σου καὶ ἡ γῆ ἐρημωθῇ κτῆσαι ἡμᾶς καὶ τὴν γῆν ἡμῶν ἀντὶ ἄρτων καὶ ἐσόμεθα ἡμεῖς καὶ ἡ γῆ ἡμῶν παῖδες Φαραω δὸς σπέρμα ἵνα σπείρωμεν καὶ ζῶμεν καὶ μὴ ἀποθάνωμεν καὶ ἡ γῆ οὐκ ἐρημωθήσεται
Cur ergo moriemur te vidente ? et nos et terra nostra tui erimus : eme nos in servitutem regiam, et praebe semina, ne pereunte cultore redigatur terra in solitudinem.
ከመ ፡ ኢንሙት ፡ እንከ ፡ በቅድሜከ ፡ ወምድርነኒ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢትማስን ፡ ንሥአነ ፡ ወአጥርየነ ፡ ኪያነሂ ፡ ወምድረነሂ ፡ ህየንተ ፡ እክል ፡ ወንኩን ፡ አግብርተ ፡ ለፈርዖን ፡ ወምድርነሂ ፡ ትኩን ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ወሀበነ ፡ ዘርአ ፡ ወንዝራእ ፡ ከመ ፡ ንሕየው ፡ ወኢንሙት ፡ ወምድርነሂ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢትማስን ።
Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants to Pharaoh. Give us seed, that we may live, and not die, and that the land won’t be desolate.”
47:20
וַיִּ֨קֶן יוֹסֵ֜ף אֶת־כׇּל־אַדְמַ֤ת מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ לְפַרְעֹ֔ה כִּֽי־מָכְר֤וּ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ אִ֣ישׁ שָׂדֵ֔הוּ כִּֽי־חָזַ֥ק עֲלֵהֶ֖ם הָרָעָ֑ב וַתְּהִ֥י הָאָ֖רֶץ לְפַרְעֹֽה׃
καὶ ἐκτήσατο Ιωσηφ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν τῶν Αἰγυπτίων τῷ Φαραω ἀπέδοντο γὰρ οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν τῷ Φαραω ἐπεκράτησεν γὰρ αὐτῶν ὁ λιμός καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ γῆ Φαραω
Emit igitur Joseph omnem terram Aegypti, vendentibus singulis possessiones suas prae magnitudine famis. Subjecitque eam Pharaoni,
ወአጥረየ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ምድሮሙ ፡ ለግብጽ ፡ ወአግብአ ፡ ለፈርዖን ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ምድሮሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኀየሎሙ ፡ ረኃብ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ምድር ፡ ለፈርዖን ።
So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh, for every man of the Egyptians sold his field, because the famine was severe on them, and the land became Pharaoh’s.
47:21
וְאֶ֨ת־הָעָ֔ם הֶעֱבִ֥יר אֹת֖וֹ לֶעָרִ֑ים מִקְצֵ֥ה גְבוּל־מִצְרַ֖יִם וְעַד־קָצֵֽהוּ׃
καὶ τὸν λαὸν κατεδουλώσατο αὐτῷ εἰς παῖδας ἀπ’ ἄκρων ὁρίων Αἰγύπτου ἕως τῶν ἄκρων
et cunctos populos ejus a novissimis terminis Aegypti usque ad extremos fines ejus,
ወኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ኮንዎ ፡ አግብርቲሁ ፡ ወቀነዮሙ ፡ እምአጽናፈ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወአድባሪሆሙኒ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ደወሎሙ ፡ ለግብጽ ፡ እምአጽናፈ ፡ ደወሎሙ ፤
As for the people, he moved them to the cities from one end of the border of Egypt even to the other end of it.
47:22
רַ֛ק אַדְמַ֥ת הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים לֹ֣א קָנָ֑ה כִּי֩ חֹ֨ק לַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים מֵאֵ֣ת פַּרְעֹ֗ה וְאָֽכְל֤וּ אֶת־חֻקָּם֙ אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֤ן לָהֶם֙ פַּרְעֹ֔ה עַל־כֵּ֕ן לֹ֥א מָכְר֖וּ אֶת־אַדְמָתָֽם׃
χωρὶς τῆς γῆς τῶν ἱερέων μόνον οὐκ ἐκτήσατο ταύτην Ιωσηφ ἐν δόσει γὰρ ἔδωκεν δόμα τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν Φαραω καὶ ἤσθιον τὴν δόσιν ἣν ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς Φαραω διὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἀπέδοντο τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν
praeter terram sacerdotum, quae a rege tradita fuerat eis : quibus et statuta cibaria ex horreis publicis praebebantur, et idcirco non sunt compulsi vendere possessiones suas.
ዘእንበለ ፡ ምድሮሙ ፡ ለማርያን ፡ ባሕቲታ ፡ እንተ ፡ ኢያጥረየ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ እስመ ፡ ወሀቦሙ ፡ ፈርዖን ፡ ለማርያን ፡ ወፈተቶሙ ፡ ወጸገዎሙ ፡ ወበእንተዝ ፡ ኢሤጡ ፡ ምድሮሙ ።
Only he didn’t buy the land of the priests, for the priests had a portion from Pharaoh, and ate their portion which Pharaoh gave them. That is why they didn’t sell their land.
47:23
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ אֶל־הָעָ֔ם הֵן֩ קָנִ֨יתִי אֶתְכֶ֥ם הַיּ֛וֹם וְאֶת־אַדְמַתְכֶ֖ם לְפַרְעֹ֑ה הֵֽא־לָכֶ֣ם זֶ֔רַע וּזְרַעְתֶּ֖ם אֶת־הָאֲדָמָֽה׃
εἶπεν δὲ Ιωσηφ πᾶσι τοῖς Αἰγυπτίοις ἰδοὺ κέκτημαι ὑμᾶς καὶ τὴν γῆν ὑμῶν σήμερον τῷ Φαραω λάβετε ἑαυτοῖς σπέρμα καὶ σπείρατε τὴν γῆν
Dixit ergo Joseph ad populos : En ut cernitis, et vos et terram vestram Pharao possidet : accipite semina, et serite agros,
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ለኵሎሙ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ናሁ ፡ ተሣየጥኩክሙ ፡ ኪያክሙሂ ፡ ወምድርክሙሂ ፡ ለፈርዖን ፡ ንሥኡ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ ዘርአ ፡ ወዝርእዋ ፡ ለምድርክሙ ።
Then Joseph said to the people, “Behold, I have bought you and your land today for Pharaoh. Behold, here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land.
47:24
וְהָיָה֙ בַּתְּבוּאֹ֔ת וּנְתַתֶּ֥ם חֲמִישִׁ֖ית לְפַרְעֹ֑ה וְאַרְבַּ֣ע הַיָּדֹ֡ת יִהְיֶ֣ה לָכֶם֩ לְזֶ֨רַע הַשָּׂדֶ֧ה וּֽלְאׇכְלְכֶ֛ם וְלַאֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּבָתֵּיכֶ֖ם וְלֶאֱכֹ֥ל לְטַפְּכֶֽם׃
καὶ ἔσται τὰ γενήματα αὐτῆς δώσετε τὸ πέμπτον μέρος τῷ Φαραω τὰ δὲ τέσσαρα μέρη ἔσται ὑμῖν αὐτοῖς εἰς σπέρμα τῇ γῇ καὶ εἰς βρῶσιν ὑμῖν καὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις ὑμῶν
ut fruges habere possitis. Quintam partem regi dabitis : quatuor reliquas permitto vobis in sementem, et in cibum familiis et liberis vestris.
ወታገብኡ ፡ ለፈርዖን ፡ እክለ ፡ ኃምስተ ፡ እደ ፡ (ክፍለ ፡) ወአርባዕተ ፡ እደ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ ዘይከውነክሙ ፡ ዘርአ ፡ ለምድርክሙ ፡ ወለሲሳይክሙ ፡ ወለሲሳየ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሰብእክሙ ።
It will happen at the harvests, that you shall give a fifth to Pharaoh, and four parts will be your own, for seed of the field, for your food, for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.”
47:25
וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ הֶחֱיִתָ֑נוּ נִמְצָא־חֵן֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔י וְהָיִ֥ינוּ עֲבָדִ֖ים לְפַרְעֹֽה׃
καὶ εἶπαν σέσωκας ἡμᾶς εὕρομεν χάριν ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν καὶ ἐσόμεθα παῖδες Φαραω
Qui responderunt : Salus nostra in manu tua est : respiciat nos tantum dominus noster, et laeti serviemus regi.
ወይቤልዎ ፡ አሕየውከነ ፡ ወረከብነ ፡ ሞገሰ ፡ በቅድሜሁ ፡ ለእግዚእነ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ አግብርተ ፡ ለፈርዖን ።
They said, “You have saved our lives! Let us find favor in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.”
47:26
וַיָּ֣שֶׂם אֹתָ֣הּ יוֹסֵ֡ף לְחֹק֩ עַד־הַיּ֨וֹם הַזֶּ֜ה עַל־אַדְמַ֥ת מִצְרַ֛יִם לְפַרְעֹ֖ה לַחֹ֑מֶשׁ רַ֞ק אַדְמַ֤ת הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ לְבַדָּ֔ם לֹ֥א הָיְתָ֖ה לְפַרְעֹֽה׃
καὶ ἔθετο αὐτοῖς Ιωσηφ εἰς πρόσταγμα ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης ἐπὶ γῆν Αἰγύπτου τῷ Φαραω ἀποπεμπτοῦν χωρὶς τῆς γῆς τῶν ἱερέων μόνον οὐκ ἦν τῷ Φαραω
Ex eo tempore usque in praesentem diem, in universa terra Aegypti regibus quinta pars solvitur, et factum est quasi in legem, absque terra sacerdotali, quae libera ab hac conditione fuit.
ወኮነት ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ሥርዐት ፡ እንተ ፡ ሠርዐ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወቆመት ፡ እስከ ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ከመ ፡ ያግብኡ ፡ ኃምስተ ፡ እደ ፡ ለፈርዖን ፡ እስከ ፡ ዮም ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ማርያን ፡ ባሕቲታ ፡ እንተ ፡ ኢኮነት ፡ ለፈርዖን ።
Joseph made it a statute concerning the land of Egypt to this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth. Only the land of the priests alone didn’t become Pharaoh’s.
47:27
וַיֵּ֧שֶׁב יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם בְּאֶ֣רֶץ גֹּ֑שֶׁן וַיֵּאָחֲז֣וּ בָ֔הּ וַיִּפְר֥וּ וַיִּרְבּ֖וּ מְאֹֽד׃
κατῴκησεν δὲ Ισραηλ ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς Γεσεμ καὶ ἐκληρονόμησαν ἐπ’ αὐτῆς καὶ ηὐξήθησαν καὶ ἐπληθύνθησαν σφόδρα
Habitavit ergo Israël in Aegypto, id est, in terra Gessen, et possedit eam : auctusque est, et multiplicatus nimis.
ወነበረ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጌሴም ፡ ወኮነት ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ክፍሎሙ ፡ ወበዝኁ ፡ ወመልኡ ፡ ጥቀ ።
Israel lived in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen; and they got themselves possessions therein, and were fruitful, and multiplied exceedingly.
47:28
וַיְחִ֤י יַעֲקֹב֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם שְׁבַ֥ע עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה שָׁנָ֑ה וַיְהִ֤י יְמֵֽי־יַעֲקֹב֙ שְׁנֵ֣י חַיָּ֔יו שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּמְאַ֖ת שָׁנָֽה׃
ἐπέζησεν δὲ Ιακωβ ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ δέκα ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἐγένοντο δὲ αἱ ἡμέραι Ιακωβ ἐνιαυτῶν τῆς ζωῆς αὐτοῦ ἑκατὸν τεσσαράκοντα ἑπτὰ ἔτη
Et vixit in ea decem et septem annis : factique sunt omnes dies vitae illius, centum quadraginta septem annorum.
ወሐይወ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ በምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ዐሠርተ ፡ ወሰባዕተ ፡ ዓመተ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ዓመተ ፡ ሕይወቱ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ምእተ ፡ ወአርብዓ ፡ ወ[ሰባዕት ፡] ዓመተ ።
Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years. So the days of Jacob, the years of his life, were one hundred forty-seven years.
47:29
וַיִּקְרְב֣וּ יְמֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ לָמוּת֒ וַיִּקְרָ֣א׀ לִבְנ֣וֹ לְיוֹסֵ֗ף וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ אִם־נָ֨א מָצָ֤אתִי חֵן֙ בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ שִֽׂים־נָ֥א יָדְךָ֖ תַּ֣חַת יְרֵכִ֑י וְעָשִׂ֤יתָ עִמָּדִי֙ חֶ֣סֶד וֶאֱמֶ֔ת אַל־נָ֥א תִקְבְּרֵ֖נִי בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃
ἤγγισαν δὲ αἱ ἡμέραι Ισραηλ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ Ιωσηφ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ εἰ εὕρηκα χάριν ἐναντίον σου ὑπόθες τὴν χεῖρά σου ὑπὸ τὸν μηρόν μου καὶ ποιήσεις ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἐλεημοσύνην καὶ ἀλήθειαν τοῦ μή με θάψαι ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ
Cumque appropinquare cerneret diem mortis suae, vocavit filium suum Joseph, et dixit ad eum : Si inveni gratiam in conspectu tuo, pone manum tuam sub femore meo : et facies mihi misericordiam et veritatem, ut non sepelias me in Aegypto :
ወቀርበ ፡ መዋዕሊሁ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ለመዊት ፡ ወጸውዖ ፡ ለወልዱ ፡ [ዮሴፍ ፡] ወይቤሎ ፡ እመ ፡ ረከብኩ ፡ ሞገሰ ፡ ቅድሜከ ፡ ደይ ፡ እዴከ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ሥጋየ ፡ ወግበር ፡ ላዕሌየ ፡ ምሕረተ ፡ ወጽድቀ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢትቅብረኒ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ግብጽ ።
The time came near that Israel must die, and he called his son Joseph, and said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me. Please don’t bury me in Egypt,
47:30
וְשָֽׁכַבְתִּי֙ עִם־אֲבֹתַ֔י וּנְשָׂאתַ֙נִי֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם וּקְבַרְתַּ֖נִי בִּקְבֻרָתָ֑ם וַיֹּאמַ֕ר אָנֹכִ֖י אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֥ה כִדְבָרֶֽךָ׃
ἀλλὰ κοιμηθήσομαι μετὰ τῶν πατέρων μου καὶ ἀρεῖς με ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ θάψεις με ἐν τῷ τάφῳ αὐτῶν ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἐγὼ ποιήσω κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμά σου
sed dormiam cum patribus meis, et auferas me de terra hac, condasque in sepulchro majorum meorum. Cui respondit Joseph : Ego faciam quod jussisti.
ዳእሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ እኑም ፡ ምስለ ፡ አበዊየ ፡ ወአውጽአኒ ፡ እምነ ፡ ብሔረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወቅብረኒ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መቃብሮሙ ፡ ለአበዊየ ፤ ወይቤሎ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ኦሆ ፡ እገብር ፡ በከመ ፡ ትቤ ።
but when I sleep with my fathers, you shall carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their burying place.” Joseph said, “I will do as you have said.”
47:31
וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הִשָּֽׁבְעָה֙ לִ֔י וַיִּשָּׁבַ֖ע ל֑וֹ וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עַל־רֹ֥אשׁ הַמִּטָּֽה׃ {פ}
εἶπεν δέ ὄμοσόν μοι καὶ ὤμοσεν αὐτῷ καὶ προσεκύνησεν Ισραηλ ἐπὶ τὸ ἄκρον τῆς ῥάβδου αὐτοῦ
Et ille : Jura ergo, inquit, mihi. Quo jurante, adoravit Israël Deum, conversus ad lectuli caput.
ወይቤሎ ፡ መሐልኬ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ወመሐለ ፡ ሎቴ ፡ ወሰገደ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ውስተ ፡ ከተማ ፡ በትሩ ።
Israel said, “Swear to me,” and he swore to him. Then Israel bowed himself on the bed’s head.
