2:1
וַיְכֻלּ֛וּ הַשָּׁמַ֥יִם וְהָאָ֖רֶץ וְכׇל־צְבָאָֽם׃
καὶ συνετελέσθησαν ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ἡ γῆ καὶ πᾶς ὁ κόσμος αὐτῶν
Igitur perfecti sunt caeli et terra, et omnis ornatus eorum.
ተፈጸመ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወምድር ።
The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished.
2:2
וַיְכַ֤ל אֱלֹהִים֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י מְלַאכְתּ֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה וַיִּשְׁבֹּת֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י מִכׇּל־מְלַאכְתּ֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָֽׂה׃
καὶ συνετέλεσεν ὁ θεὸς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἕκτῃ τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ ἃ ἐποίησεν καὶ κατέπαυσεν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν ἔργων αὐτοῦ ὧν ἐποίησεν
Complevitque Deus die septimo opus suum quod fecerat : et requievit die septimo ab universo opere quod patrarat.
ወኵሎ ፡ ዓለመ ፡ ፈጸመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ገቢረ ፡ ግብሮ ፡ ወአዕረፈ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በሳብዕት ፡ ዕለት ፡ እምኵሉ ፡ ግብሩ ።
On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.
2:3
וַיְבָ֤רֶךְ אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־י֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י וַיְקַדֵּ֖שׁ אֹת֑וֹ כִּ֣י ב֤וֹ שָׁבַת֙ מִכׇּל־מְלַאכְתּ֔וֹ אֲשֶׁר־בָּרָ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ {פ}
καὶ ηὐλόγησεν ὁ θεὸς τὴν ἡμέραν τὴν ἑβδόμην καὶ ἡγίασεν αὐτήν ὅτι ἐν αὐτῇ κατέπαυσεν ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν ἔργων αὐτοῦ ὧν ἤρξατο ὁ θεὸς ποιῆσαι
Et benedixit diei septimo, et sanctificavit illum, quia in ipso cessaverat ab omni opere suo quod creavit Deus ut faceret.
ወባረካ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለዕለት ፡ ሳብዕት ፡ ወቀደሳ ፡ እስመ ፡ ባቲ ፡ አዕረፈ ፡ እምኵሉ ፡ ግብሩ ፡ ዘአኀዘ ፡ ይግበር ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done.
2:4
אֵ֣לֶּה תוֹלְד֧וֹת הַשָּׁמַ֛יִם וְהָאָ֖רֶץ בְּהִבָּֽרְאָ֑ם בְּי֗וֹם עֲשׂ֛וֹת יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶ֥רֶץ וְשָׁמָֽיִם׃
αὕτη ἡ βίβλος γενέσεως οὐρανοῦ καὶ γῆς ὅτε ἐγένετο ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν
Istae sunt generationes caeli et terrae, quando creata sunt, in die quo fecit Dominus Deus caelum et terram,
ዛቲ ፡ መጽሐፍ ፡ እንተ ፡ ፍጥረተ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወምድር ፡ አመ ፡ ኮነት ፡ ዕለት ፡ እንተ ፡ ባቲ ፡ ገብረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሰማየ ፡ ወምድረ ፤
This is the history of the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Yahweh God made the earth and the heavens.
2:5
וְכֹ֣ל׀ שִׂ֣יחַ הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה טֶ֚רֶם יִֽהְיֶ֣ה בָאָ֔רֶץ וְכׇל־עֵ֥שֶׂב הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה טֶ֣רֶם יִצְמָ֑ח כִּי֩ לֹ֨א הִמְטִ֜יר יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ וְאָדָ֣ם אַ֔יִן לַֽעֲבֹ֖ד אֶת־הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃
καὶ πᾶν χλωρὸν ἀγροῦ πρὸ τοῦ γενέσθαι ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ πάντα χόρτον ἀγροῦ πρὸ τοῦ ἀνατεῖλαι οὐ γὰρ ἔβρεξεν ὁ θεὸς ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ ἄνθρωπος οὐκ ἦν ἐργάζεσθαι τὴν γῆν
et omne virgultum agri antequam oriretur in terra, omnemque herbam regionis priusquam germinaret : non enim pluerat Dominus Deus super terram, et homo non erat qui operaretur terram :
ወኵሉ ፡ ኀመልማለ ፡ [ሐቅል ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ይኩን ፡ በምድር ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ኀመልማለ ፡] ምድር ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ይብቈል ፡ እስመ ፡ ኢያዝነመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዲበ ፡ ምድር ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ይትፈጠር ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ።
No plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Yahweh God had not caused it to rain on the earth. There was not a man to till the ground,
2:6
וְאֵ֖ד יַֽעֲלֶ֣ה מִן־הָאָ֑רֶץ וְהִשְׁקָ֖ה אֶֽת־כׇּל־פְּנֵ֥י הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃
πηγὴ δὲ ἀνέβαινεν ἐκ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐπότιζεν πᾶν τὸ πρόσωπον τῆς γῆς
sed fons ascendebat e terra, irrigans universam superficiem terrae.
አላ ፡ ነቀዐ ፡ ማይ ፡ የዐርግ ፡ ባሕቱ ፡ እምነ ፡ ምድር ፡ [ወይሰቅያ ፡ ለየብስ ፡] ።
but a mist went up from the earth, and watered the whole surface of the ground.
2:7
וַיִּ֩יצֶר֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֜ים אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֗ם עָפָר֙ מִן־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה וַיִּפַּ֥ח בְּאַפָּ֖יו נִשְׁמַ֣ת חַיִּ֑ים וַיְהִ֥י הָֽאָדָ֖ם לְנֶ֥פֶשׁ חַיָּֽה׃
καὶ ἔπλασεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον χοῦν ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐνεφύσησεν εἰς τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ πνοὴν ζωῆς καὶ ἐγένετο ὁ ἄνθρωπος εἰς ψυχὴν ζῶσαν
Formavit igitur Dominus Deus hominem de limo terrae, et inspiravit in faciem ejus spiraculum vitae, et factus est homo in animam viventem.
ወገብሮ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሰብእ ፡ እምነ ፡ መሬተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወነፍኀ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ገጹ ፡ መንፈሰ ፡ ሕይወት ፡ ወኮነ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ ለመንፈሰ ፡ ሕይወት ።
Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
2:8
וַיִּטַּ֞ע יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהִ֛ים גַּן־בְּעֵ֖דֶן מִקֶּ֑דֶם וַיָּ֣שֶׂם שָׁ֔ם אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָצָֽר׃
καὶ ἐφύτευσεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς παράδεισον ἐν Εδεμ κατὰ ἀνατολὰς καὶ ἔθετο ἐκεῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον ὃν ἔπλασεν
Plantaverat autem Dominus Deus paradisum voluptatis a principio, in quo posuit hominem quem formaverat.
ወተከለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኤድም ፡ ገነተ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ መንገለ ፡ ጽባሕ ፡ ወሤሞ ፡ ህየ ፡ ለእጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ ዘገብረ ።
Yahweh God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.
2:9
וַיַּצְמַ֞ח יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ מִן־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה כׇּל־עֵ֛ץ נֶחְמָ֥ד לְמַרְאֶ֖ה וְט֣וֹב לְמַאֲכָ֑ל וְעֵ֤ץ הַֽחַיִּים֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ הַגָּ֔ן וְעֵ֕ץ הַדַּ֖עַת ט֥וֹב וָרָֽע׃
καὶ ἐξανέτειλεν ὁ θεὸς ἔτι ἐκ τῆς γῆς πᾶν ξύλον ὡραῖον εἰς ὅρασιν καὶ καλὸν εἰς βρῶσιν καὶ τὸ ξύλον τῆς ζωῆς ἐν μέσῳ τῷ παραδείσῳ καὶ τὸ ξύλον τοῦ εἰδέναι γνωστὸν καλοῦ καὶ πονηροῦ
Produxitque Dominus Deus de humo omne lignum pulchrum visu, et ad vescendum suave lignum etiam vitae in medio paradisi, lignumque scientiae boni et mali.
ወአብቈለ ፡ ዓዲ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እምነ ፡ ምድር ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዕፀወ ፡ ዘሠናይ ፡ ለበሊዕ ፡ ወሠናይ ፡ ለርእይ ፡ ወዕፀ ፡ ሕይወትኒ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ገነት ፡ ወዕፀኒ ፡ ዘያርኢ ፡ ወያሌቡ ፡ ሠናየ ፡ ወእኩየ ።
Out of the ground Yahweh God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food, including the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
2:10
וְנָהָר֙ יֹצֵ֣א מֵעֵ֔דֶן לְהַשְׁק֖וֹת אֶת־הַגָּ֑ן וּמִשָּׁם֙ יִפָּרֵ֔ד וְהָיָ֖ה לְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה רָאשִֽׁים׃
ποταμὸς δὲ ἐκπορεύεται ἐξ Εδεμ ποτίζειν τὸν παράδεισον ἐκεῖθεν ἀφορίζεται εἰς τέσσαρας ἀρχάς
Et fluvius egrediebatur de loco voluptatis ad irrigandum paradisum, qui inde dividitur in quatuor capita.
ወፈለግ ፡ ይወጽእ ፡ እምነ ፡ ቅድሜሁ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይስቅያ ፡ ለገነት ፡ ወእምህየ ፡ ይትፈለጥ ፡ ለአርባዕቱ ፡ መኣዝነ ፡ ዓለም ።
A river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became the source of four rivers.
2:11
שֵׁ֥ם הָֽאֶחָ֖ד פִּישׁ֑וֹן ה֣וּא הַסֹּבֵ֗ב אֵ֚ת כׇּל־אֶ֣רֶץ הַֽחֲוִילָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־שָׁ֖ם הַזָּהָֽב׃
ὄνομα τῷ ἑνὶ Φισων οὗτος ὁ κυκλῶν πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν Ευιλατ ἐκεῖ οὗ ἐστιν τὸ χρυσίον
Nomen uni Phison : ipse est qui circuit omnem terram Hevilath, ubi nascitur aurum :
ስሙ ፡ ለአሐዱ ፡ ፈለግ ፡ ፊሶን ፡ [ውእቱ ፡] ዘየዐውድ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ኤውላጦን ፡ ወህየ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሀሎ ፡ ወርቅ ።
The name of the first is Pishon: it flows through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
2:12
וּֽזְהַ֛ב הָאָ֥רֶץ הַהִ֖וא ט֑וֹב שָׁ֥ם הַבְּדֹ֖לַח וְאֶ֥בֶן הַשֹּֽׁהַם׃
τὸ δὲ χρυσίον τῆς γῆς ἐκείνης καλόν καὶ ἐκεῖ ἐστιν ὁ ἄνθραξ καὶ ὁ λίθος ὁ πράσινος
et aurum terrae illius optimum est ; ibi invenitur bdellium, et lapis onychinus.
ወወርቃ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ወህየ ፡ ሀሎ ፡ ዕንቍ ፡ ዘየኀቱ ፡ ወዕንቍ ፡ ኀመልሚል ።
and the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and onyx stone are also there.
2:13
וְשֵֽׁם־הַנָּהָ֥ר הַשֵּׁנִ֖י גִּיח֑וֹן ה֣וּא הַסּוֹבֵ֔ב אֵ֖ת כׇּל־אֶ֥רֶץ כּֽוּשׁ׃
καὶ ὄνομα τῷ ποταμῷ τῷ δευτέρῳ Γηων οὗτος ὁ κυκλῶν πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν Αἰθιοπίας
Et nomen fluvii secundi Gehon ; ipse est qui circumit omnem terram Aethiopiae.
ወስሙ ፡ ለካልእ ፡ ፈለግ ፡ ጌዮን ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘየዐውድ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ኢትዮጵያ ።
The name of the second river is Gihon. It is the same river that flows through the whole land of Cush.
2:14
וְשֵׁ֨ם הַנָּהָ֤ר הַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙ חִדֶּ֔קֶל ה֥וּא הַֽהֹלֵ֖ךְ קִדְמַ֣ת אַשּׁ֑וּר וְהַנָּהָ֥ר הָֽרְבִיעִ֖י ה֥וּא פְרָֽת׃
καὶ ὁ ποταμὸς ὁ τρίτος Τίγρις οὗτος ὁ πορευόμενος κατέναντι Ἀσσυρίων ὁ δὲ ποταμὸς ὁ τέταρτος οὗτος Εὐφράτης
Nomen vero fluminis tertii, Tigris : ipse vadit contra Assyrios. Fluvius autem quartus, ipse est Euphrates.
ወፈለግ ፡ ሣልስ ፡ ጤግርስ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘየሐውር ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ፋርስ ፤ ወፈለግ ፡ ራብዕ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ አፍራጥስ ።
The name of the third river is Hiddekel. This is the one which flows in front of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.
2:15
וַיִּקַּ֛ח יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶת־הָֽאָדָ֑ם וַיַּנִּחֵ֣הוּ בְגַן־עֵ֔דֶן לְעׇבְדָ֖הּ וּלְשׇׁמְרָֽהּ׃
καὶ ἔλαβεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον ὃν ἔπλασεν καὶ ἔθετο αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ ἐργάζεσθαι αὐτὸν καὶ φυλάσσειν
Tulit ergo Dominus Deus hominem, et posuit eum in paradiso voluptatis, ut operaretur, et custodiret illum :
ወነሥኦ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለእጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ ዘገብረ ፡ ወሤሞ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገነት ፡ ከመ ፡ ይትገበራ ፡ ወይዕቀባ ።
Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.
2:16
וַיְצַו֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֔ים עַל־הָֽאָדָ֖ם לֵאמֹ֑ר מִכֹּ֥ל עֵֽץ־הַגָּ֖ן אָכֹ֥ל תֹּאכֵֽל׃
καὶ ἐνετείλατο κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῷ Αδαμ λέγων ἀπὸ παντὸς ξύλου τοῦ ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ βρώσει φάγῃ
praecepitque ei, dicens : Ex omni ligno paradisi comede ;
ወአዘዞ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለአዳም ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ እምኵሉ ፡ ዕፅ ፡ ዘሀሎ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገነት ፡ ብላዕ ።
Yahweh God commanded the man, saying, “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden;
2:17
וּמֵעֵ֗ץ הַדַּ֙עַת֙ ט֣וֹב וָרָ֔ע לֹ֥א תֹאכַ֖ל מִמֶּ֑נּוּ כִּ֗י בְּי֛וֹם אֲכׇלְךָ֥ מִמֶּ֖נּוּ מ֥וֹת תָּמֽוּת׃
ἀπὸ δὲ τοῦ ξύλου τοῦ γινώσκειν καλὸν καὶ πονηρόν οὐ φάγεσθε ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ ᾗ δ’ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ φάγητε ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ θανάτῳ ἀποθανεῖσθε
de ligno autem scientiae boni et mali ne comedas : in quocumque enim die comederis ex eo, morte morieris.
ወእምዕፅ[ሰ] ፡ ዘያሌቡ ፡ ሠናየ ፡ ወእኩየ ፡ ኢትብላዕ ፡ እምኔሁ ፡ እስመ ፡ በዕለት ፡ እንተ ፡ ትበልዑ ፡ እምኔሁ ፡ ሞተ ፡ ትመውቱ ።
but you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”
2:18
וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֔ים לֹא־ט֛וֹב הֱי֥וֹת הָֽאָדָ֖ם לְבַדּ֑וֹ אֶֽעֱשֶׂה־לּ֥וֹ עֵ֖זֶר כְּנֶגְדּֽוֹ׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος ὁ θεός οὐ καλὸν εἶναι τὸν ἄνθρωπον μόνον ποιήσωμεν αὐτῷ βοηθὸν κατ’ αὐτόν
Dixit quoque Dominus Deus : Non est bonum esse hominem solum : faciamus ei adjutorium simile sibi.
ወይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኢኮነ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ለእጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ ይንበር ፡ ባሕቲቱ ፡ ንግበር ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ቢጸ ፡ ዘይረድኦ ።
Yahweh God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
2:19
וַיִּ֩צֶר֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֜ים מִן־הָֽאֲדָמָ֗ה כׇּל־חַיַּ֤ת הַשָּׂדֶה֙ וְאֵת֙ כׇּל־ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַיָּבֵא֙ אֶל־הָ֣אָדָ֔ם לִרְא֖וֹת מַה־יִּקְרָא־ל֑וֹ וְכֹל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִקְרָא־ל֧וֹ הָֽאָדָ֛ם נֶ֥פֶשׁ חַיָּ֖ה ה֥וּא שְׁמֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἔπλασεν ὁ θεὸς ἔτι ἐκ τῆς γῆς πάντα τὰ θηρία τοῦ ἀγροῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἤγαγεν αὐτὰ πρὸς τὸν Αδαμ ἰδεῖν τί καλέσει αὐτά καὶ πᾶν ὃ ἐὰν ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὸ Αδαμ ψυχὴν ζῶσαν τοῦτο ὄνομα αὐτοῦ
Formatis igitur Dominus Deus de humo cunctis animantibus terrae, et universis volatilibus caeli, adduxit ea ad Adam, ut videret quid vocaret ea : omne enim quod vocavit Adam animae viventis, ipsum est nomen ejus.
ወገብረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዓዲ ፡ አራዊተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ እምነ ፡ ምድር ፡ (ኵሎ ፡ አራዊተ ፡ ገዳም ፡) ወኵሎ ፡ አዕዋፈ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወአምጽኦሙ ፡ ኀበ ፡ አዳም ፡ ከመ ፡ ይርአይ ፡ ወምንተ ፡ ይሰምዮሙ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ሰመዮሙ ፡ አዳም ፡ ለለነፍሰ ፡ ሕይወት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ይኩን ፡ ስሞሙ ።
Out of the ground Yahweh God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called every living creature became its name.
2:20
וַיִּקְרָ֨א הָֽאָדָ֜ם שֵׁמ֗וֹת לְכׇל־הַבְּהֵמָה֙ וּלְע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וּלְכֹ֖ל חַיַּ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה וּלְאָדָ֕ם לֹֽא־מָצָ֥א עֵ֖זֶר כְּנֶגְדּֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Αδαμ ὀνόματα πᾶσιν τοῖς κτήνεσιν καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς πετεινοῖς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς θηρίοις τοῦ ἀγροῦ τῷ δὲ Αδαμ οὐχ εὑρέθη βοηθὸς ὅμοιος αὐτῷ
Appellavitque Adam nominibus suis cuncta animantia, et universa volatilia caeli, et omnes bestias terrae : Adae vero non inveniebatur adjutor similis ejus.
ወሰመዮሙ ፡ አዳም ፡ ኵሎ ፡ አስማቲሆሙ ፡ ለእንስሳ ፡ ወለአዕዋፈ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወለኵሉ ፡ አራዊተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ወለአዳምሰ ፡ ኢተረክበ ፡ ረድኤቱ ፡ ዘከማሁ ።
The man gave names to all livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field; but for man there was not found a helper comparable to him.
2:21
וַיַּפֵּל֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֧ים׀תַּרְדֵּמָ֛ה עַל־הָאָדָ֖ם וַיִּישָׁ֑ן וַיִּקַּ֗ח אַחַת֙ מִצַּלְעֹתָ֔יו וַיִּסְגֹּ֥ר בָּשָׂ֖ר תַּחְתֶּֽנָּה׃
καὶ ἐπέβαλεν ὁ θεὸς ἔκστασιν ἐπὶ τὸν Αδαμ καὶ ὕπνωσεν καὶ ἔλαβεν μίαν τῶν πλευρῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνεπλήρωσεν σάρκα ἀντ’ αὐτῆς
Immisit ergo Dominus Deus soporem in Adam : cumque obdormisset, tulit unam de costis ejus, et replevit carnem pro ea.
ወፈነወ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ድቃሰ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ አዳም ፡ ወኖመ ፡ ወነሥአ ፡ አሐደ ፡ እምዐጽመ ፡ ገቦሁ ፡ ወመልአ ፡ ሥጋ ፡ መካና ።
Yahweh God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. As the man slept, he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.
2:22
וַיִּ֩בֶן֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֧ים׀אֶֽת־הַצֵּלָ֛ע אֲשֶׁר־לָקַ֥ח מִן־הָֽאָדָ֖ם לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וַיְבִאֶ֖הָ אֶל־הָֽאָדָֽם׃
καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τὴν πλευράν ἣν ἔλαβεν ἀπὸ τοῦ Αδαμ εἰς γυναῖκα καὶ ἤγαγεν αὐτὴν πρὸς τὸν Αδαμ
Et aedificavit Dominus Deus costam, quam tulerat de Adam, in mulierem : et adduxit eam ad Adam.
ወነደቃ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ዐጽመ ፡ ገቦ ፡ እንተ ፡ ነሥአ ፡ እምነ ፡ አዳም ፡ ወረሰያ ፡ ብእሲቶ ፡ ወአምጽአ ፡ ኀበ ፡ አዳም ።
Yahweh God made a woman from the rib which he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.
2:23
וַיֹּ֘אמֶר֮ הָֽאָדָם֒ זֹ֣את הַפַּ֗עַם עֶ֚צֶם מֵֽעֲצָמַ֔י וּבָשָׂ֖ר מִבְּשָׂרִ֑י לְזֹאת֙ יִקָּרֵ֣א אִשָּׁ֔ה כִּ֥י מֵאִ֖ישׁ לֻֽקְחָה־זֹּֽאת׃
καὶ εἶπεν Αδαμ τοῦτο νῦν ὀστοῦν ἐκ τῶν ὀστέων μου καὶ σὰρξ ἐκ τῆς σαρκός μου αὕτη κληθήσεται γυνή ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ ἀνδρὸς αὐτῆς ἐλήμφθη αὕτη
Dixitque Adam : Hoc nunc os ex ossibus meis, et caro de carne mea : haec vocabitur Virago, quoniam de viro sumpta est.
ወይቤ ፡ አዳም ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዐጽም ፡ እምዐጽምየ ፡ ወሥጋ ፡ እምሥጋየ ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ለትኩነኒ ፡ ብእሲትየ ፡ እስመ ፡ እምታ ፡ ወጽአት ፡ ይእቲ ።
The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of Man.”
2:24
עַל־כֵּן֙ יַֽעֲזׇב־אִ֔ישׁ אֶת־אָבִ֖יו וְאֶת־אִמּ֑וֹ וְדָבַ֣ק בְּאִשְׁתּ֔וֹ וְהָי֖וּ לְבָשָׂ֥ר אֶחָֽד׃
ἕνεκεν τούτου καταλείψει ἄνθρωπος τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν μητέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ προσκολληθήσεται πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔσονται οἱ δύο εἰς σάρκα μίαν
Quam ob rem relinquet homo patrem suum, et matrem, et adhaerebit uxori suae : et erunt duo in carne una.
ወበእንተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ይኅድግ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ አባሁ ፡ ወእሞ ፡ ወይትልዋ ፡ ለብእሲቱ ፡ ወይከውኑ ፡ ክልኤሆሙ ፡ አሐደ ፡ ሥጋ ።
Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.
2:25
וַיִּֽהְי֤וּ שְׁנֵיהֶם֙ עֲרוּמִּ֔ים הָֽאָדָ֖ם וְאִשְׁתּ֑וֹ וְלֹ֖א יִתְבֹּשָֽׁשׁוּ׃
καὶ ἦσαν οἱ δύο γυμνοί ὅ τε Αδαμ καὶ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ᾐσχύνοντο
Erat autem uterque nudus, Adam scilicet et uxor ejus : et non erubescebant.
ወሀለው ፡ አዳም ፡ ወብእሲቱ ፡ ዕራቃኒሆሙ ፡ ወኢየኀፍሩ ።
The man and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed.
