1:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית בָּרָ֣א אֱלֹהִ֑ים אֵ֥ת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֵ֥ת הָאָֽרֶץ ׃
ἐν ἀρχῇ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν
In principio creavit Deus caelum et terram .
በቀዳሚ ፡ ገብረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሰማየ ፡ ወምድረ ።
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
1:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהָאָ֗רֶץ הָיְתָ֥ה תֹ֙הוּ֙ וָבֹ֔הוּ וְחֹ֖שֶׁךְ עַל ־פְּנֵ֣י תְה֑וֹם וְר֣וּחַ אֱלֹהִ֔ים מְרַחֶ֖פֶת עַל ־פְּנֵ֥י הַמָּֽיִם ׃
ἡ δὲ γῆ ἦν ἀόρατος καὶ ἀκατασκεύαστος καὶ σκότος ἐπάνω τῆς ἀβύσσου καὶ πνεῦμα θεοῦ ἐπεφέρετο ἐπάνω τοῦ ὕδατος
Terra autem erat inanis et vacua , et tenebrae erant super faciem abyssi : et spiritus Dei ferebatur super aquas .
ወምድርሰ ፡ ኢታስተርኢ ፡ ወኢኮነት ፡ ድሉተ ፡ ወጽልመት ፡ መልዕልተ ፡ ቀላይ ፡ ወመንፈሰ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ይጼልል ፡ መልዕልተ ፡ ማይ ።
The earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep and God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.
1:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֖ים יְהִ֣י א֑וֹר וַֽיְהִי ־אֽוֹר ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός γενηθήτω φῶς καὶ ἐγένετο φῶς
Dixitque Deus : Fiat lux . Et facta est lux .
ወይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለይኩን ፡ ብርሃን ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ብርሃን ።
God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
1:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֧רְא אֱלֹהִ֛ים אֶת ־הָא֖וֹר כִּי ־ט֑וֹב וַיַּבְדֵּ֣ל אֱלֹהִ֔ים בֵּ֥ין הָא֖וֹר וּבֵ֥ין הַחֹֽשֶׁךְ ׃
καὶ εἶδεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ φῶς ὅτι καλόν καὶ διεχώρισεν ὁ θεὸς ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ φωτὸς καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ σκότους
Et vidit Deus lucem quod esset bona : et divisit lucem a tenebris .
ወርእዮ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለብርሃን ፡ ከመ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ወፈለጠ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ብርሃን ፡ ወማእከለ ፡ ጽልመት ።
God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness.
1:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּקְרָ֨א אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀לָאוֹר֙ י֔וֹם וְלַחֹ֖שֶׁךְ קָ֣רָא לָ֑יְלָה וַֽיְהִי ־עֶ֥רֶב וַֽיְהִי ־בֹ֖קֶר י֥וֹם אֶחָֽד ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ φῶς ἡμέραν καὶ τὸ σκότος ἐκάλεσεν νύκτα καὶ ἐγένετο ἑσπέρα καὶ ἐγένετο πρωί ἡμέρα μία
Appellavitque lucem Diem , et tenebras Noctem : factumque est vespere et mane , dies unus .
ወሰመዮ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለብርሃን ፡ ዕለተ ፡ ወለጽልመት ፡ ሌሊተ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ሌሊተ ፡ ወጸብሐ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ መዓልተ ፡ ፩ ።
God called the light “day”, and the darkness he called “night”. There was evening and there was morning, the first day.
1:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֔ים יְהִ֥י רָקִ֖יעַ בְּת֣וֹךְ הַמָּ֑יִם וִיהִ֣י מַבְדִּ֔יל בֵּ֥ין מַ֖יִם לָמָֽיִם ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός γενηθήτω στερέωμα ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ ὕδατος καὶ ἔστω διαχωρίζον ἀνὰ μέσον ὕδατος καὶ ὕδατος καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως
Dixit quoque Deus : Fiat firmamentum in medio aquarum : et dividat aquas ab aquis .
ወይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለይኩን ፡ ጠፈር ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ማይ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይፍልጥ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ማይ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ከማሁ ።
God said, “Let there be an expanse in the middle of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”
1:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֣עַשׂ אֱלֹהִים֮ אֶת ־הָרָקִ֒יעַ֒ וַיַּבְדֵּ֗ל בֵּ֤ין הַמַּ֙יִם֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ מִתַּ֣חַת לָרָקִ֔יעַ וּבֵ֣ין הַמַּ֔יִם אֲשֶׁ֖ר מֵעַ֣ל לָרָקִ֑יעַ וַֽיְהִי ־כֵֽן ׃
καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ στερέωμα καὶ διεχώρισεν ὁ θεὸς ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ ὕδατος ὃ ἦν ὑποκάτω τοῦ στερεώματος καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ ὕδατος τοῦ ἐπάνω τοῦ στερεώματος
Et fecit Deus firmamentum , divisitque aquas , quae erant sub firmamento , ab his , quae erant super firmamentum . Et factum est ita .
ወገብረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ጠፈረ ፡ ወፈለጠ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ማእብለ ፡ ማይ ፡ ዘታሕተ ፡ ጠፈር ፡ ወማእከለ ፡ ማይ ፡ ዘመልዕልተ ፡ ጠፈር ።
God made the expanse, and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so.
1:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּקְרָ֧א אֱלֹהִ֛ים לָֽרָקִ֖יעַ שָׁמָ֑יִם וַֽיְהִי ־עֶ֥רֶב וַֽיְהִי ־בֹ֖קֶר י֥וֹם שֵׁנִֽי ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ στερέωμα οὐρανόν καὶ εἶδεν ὁ θεὸς ὅτι καλόν καὶ ἐγένετο ἑσπέρα καὶ ἐγένετο πρωί ἡμέρα δευτέρα
Vocavitque Deus firmamentum , Caelum : et factum est vespere et mane , dies secundus .
ወሰመዮ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ጠፈር ፡ ሰማየ ፡ ወርእየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ሌሊተ ፡ ወጸብሐ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ካልእተ ፡ ዕለተ ።
God called the expanse “sky”. There was evening and there was morning, a second day.
1:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֗ים יִקָּו֨וּ הַמַּ֜יִם מִתַּ֤חַת הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ אֶל ־מָק֣וֹם אֶחָ֔ד וְתֵרָאֶ֖ה הַיַּבָּשָׁ֑ה וַֽיְהִי ־כֵֽן ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός συναχθήτω τὸ ὕδωρ τὸ ὑποκάτω τοῦ οὐρανοῦ εἰς συναγωγὴν μίαν καὶ ὀφθήτω ἡ ξηρά καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως καὶ συνήχθη τὸ ὕδωρ τὸ ὑποκάτω τοῦ οὐρανοῦ εἰς τὰς συναγωγὰς αὐτῶν καὶ ὤφθη ἡ ξηρά
Dixit vero Deus : Congregentur aquae , quae sub caelo sunt , in locum unum : et appareat arida . Et factum est ita .
ወይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለይትጋባእ ፡ ማይ ፡ ዘመትሕተ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ መካን ፡ ወያስተርኢ ፡ የብስ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ውተጋብአ ፡ ማይ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምእላዲሁ ፡ ወአስተርአየ ፡ የብስ ።
God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear;” and it was so.
1:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּקְרָ֨א אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀לַיַּבָּשָׁה֙ אֶ֔רֶץ וּלְמִקְוֵ֥ה הַמַּ֖יִם קָרָ֣א יַמִּ֑ים וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי ־טֽוֹב ׃
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ὁ θεὸς τὴν ξηρὰν γῆν καὶ τὰ συστήματα τῶν ὑδάτων ἐκάλεσεν θαλάσσας καὶ εἶδεν ὁ θεὸς ὅτι καλόν
Et vocavit Deus aridam Terram , congregationesque aquarum appellavit Maria . Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum .
ወሰመዮ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለየብስ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ወለምእላዲሁ ፡ ለማይ ፡ ሰመዮ ፡ ባሕረ ፡ ወርእየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ ሠናይ ።
God called the dry land “earth”, and the gathering together of the waters he called “seas”. God saw that it was good.
1:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֗ים תַּֽדְשֵׁ֤א הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ דֶּ֗שֶׁא עֵ֚שֶׂב מַזְרִ֣יעַ זֶ֔רַע עֵ֣ץ פְּרִ֞י עֹ֤שֶׂה פְּרִי֙ לְמִינ֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר זַרְעוֹ ־ב֖וֹ עַל ־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַֽיְהִי ־כֵֽן ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός βλαστησάτω ἡ γῆ βοτάνην χόρτου σπεῖρον σπέρμα κατὰ γένος καὶ καθ’ ὁμοιότητα καὶ ξύλον κάρπιμον ποιοῦν καρπόν οὗ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ κατὰ γένος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως
Et ait : Germinet terra herbam virentem , et facientem semen , et lignum pomiferum faciens fructum juxta genus suum , cujus semen in semetipso sit super terram . Et factum est ita .
ወይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለታብቍል ፡ ምድር ፡ ሐመልማለ ፡ ሣዕር ፡ ዘይዘራእ ፡ በበዘርኡ ፡ ወበበዘመዱ ፡ ወዘበበ ፡ አምሳሊሁ ፡ ወዕፀወ ፡ ዘይፈሪ ፡ ወይገብር ፡ ፋሬሁ ፡ ዘእምውስቴቱ ፡ ዘርኡ ፡ ዘይወጽእ ፡ ዘይከውን ፡ በበዘመዱ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ከማሁ ።
God said, “Let the earth yield grass, herbs yielding seeds, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with their seeds in it, on the earth;” and it was so.
1:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתּוֹצֵ֨א הָאָ֜רֶץ דֶּ֠שֶׁא עֵ֣שֶׂב מַזְרִ֤יעַ זֶ֙רַע֙ לְמִינֵ֔הוּ וְעֵ֧ץ עֹֽשֶׂה ־פְּרִ֛י אֲשֶׁ֥ר זַרְעוֹ ־ב֖וֹ לְמִינֵ֑הוּ וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי ־טֽוֹב ׃
καὶ ἐξήνεγκεν ἡ γῆ βοτάνην χόρτου σπεῖρον σπέρμα κατὰ γένος καὶ καθ’ ὁμοιότητα καὶ ξύλον κάρπιμον ποιοῦν καρπόν οὗ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ κατὰ γένος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ εἶδεν ὁ θεὸς ὅτι καλόν
Et protulit terra herbam virentem , et facientem semen juxta genus suum , lignumque faciens fructum , et habens unumquodque sementem secundum speciem suam . Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum .
ወአውጽአት ፡ ምድር ፡ ሐመልማለ ፡ [ሣዕር ፡] ዘይዘራእ ፡ ዘርኡ ፡ ዘበበዘመዱ ፡ ወበበአርአያሁ ፡ ወዕፀወ ፡ ዘይፈሪ ፡ ወይገብር ፡ ፍሬሁ ፡ ዘእምውስቴቱ ፡ ዘርእ ፡ ዘይከውን ፡ በበዘመዱ ፡ መልዕልተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወርእየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ ሠናይ ።
The earth yielded grass, herbs yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with their seeds in it, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.
1:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַֽיְהִי ־עֶ֥רֶב וַֽיְהִי ־בֹ֖קֶר י֥וֹם שְׁלִישִֽׁי ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐγένετο ἑσπέρα καὶ ἐγένετο πρωί ἡμέρα τρίτη
Et factum est vespere et mane , dies tertius .
ወኮነ ፡ ሌሊተ ፡ ወጸብሐ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ሣልስተ ፡ ዕለት ።
There was evening and there was morning, a third day.
1:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֗ים יְהִ֤י מְאֹרֹת֙ בִּרְקִ֣יעַ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם לְהַבְדִּ֕יל בֵּ֥ין הַיּ֖וֹם וּבֵ֣ין הַלָּ֑יְלָה וְהָי֤וּ לְאֹתֹת֙ וּלְמ֣וֹעֲדִ֔ים וּלְיָמִ֖ים וְשָׁנִֽים ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός γενηθήτωσαν φωστῆρες ἐν τῷ στερεώματι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ εἰς φαῦσιν τῆς γῆς τοῦ διαχωρίζειν ἀνὰ μέσον τῆς ἡμέρας καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῆς νυκτὸς καὶ ἔστωσαν εἰς σημεῖα καὶ εἰς καιροὺς καὶ εἰς ἡμέρας καὶ εἰς ἐνιαυτοὺς
Dixit autem Deus : Fiant luminaria in firmamento caeli , et dividant diem ac noctem , et sint in signa et tempora , et dies et annos :
ወይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ይኩኑ ፡ ብርሃናት ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጠፈረ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ከመ ፡ ያብርሁ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወይፍልጡ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ወማእከለ ፡ ሌሊት ፡ ወይኩኑ ፡ ለተአምር ፡ ወለዘመን ፡ ወለመዋዕል ፡ ወለዓመታት ።
God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs to mark seasons, days, and years;
1:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהָי֤וּ לִמְאוֹרֹת֙ בִּרְקִ֣יעַ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם לְהָאִ֖יר עַל ־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַֽיְהִי ־כֵֽן ׃
καὶ ἔστωσαν εἰς φαῦσιν ἐν τῷ στερεώματι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ὥστε φαίνειν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως
ut luceant in firmamento caeli , et illuminent terram . Et factum est ita .
ወይኩኑ ፡ ለአብርሆ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጠፈረ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ከመ ፡ ያብርሁ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ከማሁ ።
and let them be for lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth;” and it was so.
1:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֣עַשׂ אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֶת ־שְׁנֵ֥י הַמְּאֹרֹ֖ת הַגְּדֹלִ֑ים אֶת ־הַמָּא֤וֹר הַגָּדֹל֙ לְמֶמְשֶׁ֣לֶת הַיּ֔וֹם וְאֶת ־הַמָּא֤וֹר הַקָּטֹן֙ לְמֶמְשֶׁ֣לֶת הַלַּ֔יְלָה וְאֵ֖ת הַכּוֹכָבִֽים ׃
καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τοὺς δύο φωστῆρας τοὺς μεγάλους τὸν φωστῆρα τὸν μέγαν εἰς ἀρχὰς τῆς ἡμέρας καὶ τὸν φωστῆρα τὸν ἐλάσσω εἰς ἀρχὰς τῆς νυκτός καὶ τοὺς ἀστέρας
Fecitque Deus duo luminaria magna : luminare majus , ut praeesset diei : et luminare minus , ut praeesset nocti : et stellas .
ወገብረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ብርሃናተ ፡ ክልኤተ ፡ ዐበይተ ፡ ዘየዐቢ ፡ ብርሃን ፡ ከመ ፡ ይምልክ ፡ መዐልተ ፡ ወዘይንእስ ፡ ብርሃን ፡ ከመ ፡ ይምልክ ፡ ሌሊተ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ከዋክብቲሁ ።
God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He also made the stars.
1:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּתֵּ֥ן אֹתָ֛ם אֱלֹהִ֖ים בִּרְקִ֣יעַ הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם לְהָאִ֖יר עַל ־הָאָֽרֶץ ׃
καὶ ἔθετο αὐτοὺς ὁ θεὸς ἐν τῷ στερεώματι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ὥστε φαίνειν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς
Et posuit eas in firmamento caeli , ut lucerent super terram ,
ወሤሞሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጠፈረ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ከመ ፡ ያብርሁ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ምድር ፡
God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light to the earth,
1:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְלִמְשֹׁל֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם וּבַלַּ֔יְלָה וּֽלְהַבְדִּ֔יל בֵּ֥ין הָא֖וֹר וּבֵ֣ין הַחֹ֑שֶׁךְ וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי ־טֽוֹב ׃
καὶ ἄρχειν τῆς ἡμέρας καὶ τῆς νυκτὸς καὶ διαχωρίζειν ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ φωτὸς καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ σκότους καὶ εἶδεν ὁ θεὸς ὅτι καλόν
et praeessent diei ac nocti , et dividerent lucem ac tenebras . Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum .
ወይኰንንዋ ፡ ለዕለት ፡ ወለሌሊትኒ ፡ ወይፍልጡ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ሌሊት ፡ ወማእከለ ፡ ብርሃን ፡ ወርእየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ ሠናይ ።
and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good.
1:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַֽיְהִי ־עֶ֥רֶב וַֽיְהִי ־בֹ֖קֶר י֥וֹם רְבִיעִֽי ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐγένετο ἑσπέρα καὶ ἐγένετο πρωί ἡμέρα τετάρτη
Et factum est vespere et mane , dies quartus .
ወኮነ ፡ ሌሊተ ፡ ወጸብሐ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ራብዕተ ፡ ዕለተ ።
There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
1:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֔ים יִשְׁרְצ֣וּ הַמַּ֔יִם שֶׁ֖רֶץ נֶ֣פֶשׁ חַיָּ֑ה וְעוֹף֙ יְעוֹפֵ֣ף עַל ־הָאָ֔רֶץ עַל ־פְּנֵ֖י רְקִ֥יעַ הַשָּׁמָֽיִם ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός ἐξαγαγέτω τὰ ὕδατα ἑρπετὰ ψυχῶν ζωσῶν καὶ πετεινὰ πετόμενα ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς κατὰ τὸ στερέωμα τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως
Dixit etiam Deus : Producant aquae reptile animae viventis , et volatile super terram sub firmamento caeli .
ወይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለታውጽእ ፡ ማይ ፡ ዘይትሐወስ ፡ ዘቦ ፡ መንፈሰ ፡ ሕይወት ፡ ወአዕዋፈ ፡ ዘይሠርር ፡ መልዕልተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወመትሕት ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ከማሁ ።
God said, “Let the waters abound with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky.”
1:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּבְרָ֣א אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֶת ־הַתַּנִּינִ֖ם הַגְּדֹלִ֑ים וְאֵ֣ת כׇּל ־נֶ֣פֶשׁ הַֽחַיָּ֣ה ׀הָֽרֹמֶ֡שֶׂת אֲשֶׁר֩ שָׁרְצ֨וּ הַמַּ֜יִם לְמִֽינֵהֶ֗ם וְאֵ֨ת כׇּל ־ע֤וֹף כָּנָף֙ לְמִינֵ֔הוּ וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי ־טֽוֹב ׃
καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὰ κήτη τὰ μεγάλα καὶ πᾶσαν ψυχὴν ζῴων ἑρπετῶν ἃ ἐξήγαγεν τὰ ὕδατα κατὰ γένη αὐτῶν καὶ πᾶν πετεινὸν πτερωτὸν κατὰ γένος καὶ εἶδεν ὁ θεὸς ὅτι καλά
Creavitque Deus cete grandia , et omnem animam viventem atque motabilem , quam produxerant aquae in species suas , et omne volatile secundum genus suum . Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum .
ወገብረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዐናብርተ ፡ ዐበይተ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ነፍሰ ፡ ሕይወት ፡ ዘይትሐወስ ፡ ዘአውጽአ ፡ ማይ ፡ በበዘመዱ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዖፈ ፡ ዘይሠርር ፡ በበዘመዱ ፡ ወርእየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ ሠናይ ።
God created the large sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind. God saw that it was good.
1:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְבָ֧רֶךְ אֹתָ֛ם אֱלֹהִ֖ים לֵאמֹ֑ר פְּר֣וּ וּרְב֗וּ וּמִלְא֤וּ אֶת ־הַמַּ֙יִם֙ בַּיַּמִּ֔ים וְהָע֖וֹף יִ֥רֶב בָּאָֽרֶץ ׃
καὶ ηὐλόγησεν αὐτὰ ὁ θεὸς λέγων αὐξάνεσθε καὶ πληθύνεσθε καὶ πληρώσατε τὰ ὕδατα ἐν ταῖς θαλάσσαις καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ πληθυνέσθωσαν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς
Benedixitque eis , dicens : Crescite , et multiplicamini , et replete aquas maris : avesque multiplicentur super terram .
ወባረኮሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ብዝኁ ፡ ወተባዝኁ ፡ ወምልእዋ ፡ ለምድር ፡ ወአዕዋፍኒ ፡ ይብዝኁ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ።
God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”
1:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַֽיְהִי ־עֶ֥רֶב וַֽיְהִי ־בֹ֖קֶר י֥וֹם חֲמִישִֽׁי ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐγένετο ἑσπέρα καὶ ἐγένετο πρωί ἡμέρα πέμπτη
Et factum est vespere et mane , dies quintus .
ወኮነ ፡ ሌሊተ ፡ ወጸብሐ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ኃምስተ ፡ ዕለተ ።
There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
1:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֗ים תּוֹצֵ֨א הָאָ֜רֶץ נֶ֤פֶשׁ חַיָּה֙ לְמִינָ֔הּ בְּהֵמָ֥ה וָרֶ֛מֶשׂ וְחַֽיְתוֹ ־אֶ֖רֶץ לְמִינָ֑הּ וַֽיְהִי ־כֵֽן ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός ἐξαγαγέτω ἡ γῆ ψυχὴν ζῶσαν κατὰ γένος τετράποδα καὶ ἑρπετὰ καὶ θηρία τῆς γῆς κατὰ γένος καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως
Dixit quoque Deus : Producat terra animam viventem in genere suo , jumenta , et reptilia , et bestias terrae secundum species suas . Factumque est ita .
ወይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለታውጽእ ፡ ምድር ፡ ዘመደ ፡ እንስሳ ፡ ወዘይትሐወስ ፡ ወአራዊተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ዘበበ ፡ ዘመዱ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ከማሁ ።
God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures after their kind, livestock, creeping things, and animals of the earth after their kind;” and it was so.
1:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֣עַשׂ אֱלֹהִים֩ אֶת ־חַיַּ֨ת הָאָ֜רֶץ לְמִינָ֗הּ וְאֶת ־הַבְּהֵמָה֙ לְמִינָ֔הּ וְאֵ֛ת כׇּל ־רֶ֥מֶשׂ הָֽאֲדָמָ֖ה לְמִינֵ֑הוּ וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי ־טֽוֹב ׃
καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὰ θηρία τῆς γῆς κατὰ γένος καὶ τὰ κτήνη κατὰ γένος καὶ πάντα τὰ ἑρπετὰ τῆς γῆς κατὰ γένος αὐτῶν καὶ εἶδεν ὁ θεὸς ὅτι καλά
Et fecit Deus bestias terrae juxta species suas , et jumenta , et omne reptile terrae in genere suo . Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum ,
ወገብረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እንስሳ ፡ ዘበበ ፡ ዘመዱ ፡ [ወኵሎ ፡ ዘይትሐወስ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ በበዘመዱ ፡ ወአራዊተ ፡ ምድር ፡ በበዘመዱ ፡] ወርእየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ ሠናይ ።
God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the livestock after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. God saw that it was good.
1:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֔ים נַֽעֲשֶׂ֥ה אָדָ֛ם בְּצַלְמֵ֖נוּ כִּדְמוּתֵ֑נוּ וְיִרְדּוּ֩ בִדְגַ֨ת הַיָּ֜ם וּבְע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם וּבַבְּהֵמָה֙ וּבְכׇל ־הָאָ֔רֶץ וּבְכׇל ־הָרֶ֖מֶשׂ הָֽרֹמֵ֥שׂ עַל ־הָאָֽרֶץ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός ποιήσωμεν ἄνθρωπον κατ’ εἰκόνα ἡμετέραν καὶ καθ’ ὁμοίωσιν καὶ ἀρχέτωσαν τῶν ἰχθύων τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ τῶν πετεινῶν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τῶν κτηνῶν καὶ πάσης τῆς γῆς καὶ πάντων τῶν ἑρπετῶν τῶν ἑρπόντων ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς
et ait : Faciamus hominem ad imaginem et similitudinem nostram : et praesit piscibus maris , et volatilibus caeli , et bestiis , universaeque terrae , omnique reptili , quod movetur in terra .
ወይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ንግበር ፡ ሰብአ ፡ በአርአያነ ፡ ወበአምሳሊነ ፡ ወይኰንን ፡ ዐሣተ ፡ ባሕር ፡ ወአራዊተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወአዕዋፈ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወእንስሳሂ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ወአራዊተ ፡ ዘይትሐወስ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ምድር ።
God said, “Let’s make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
1:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּבְרָ֨א אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀אֶת ־הָֽאָדָם֙ בְּצַלְמ֔וֹ בְּצֶ֥לֶם אֱלֹהִ֖ים בָּרָ֣א אֹת֑וֹ זָכָ֥ר וּנְקֵבָ֖ה בָּרָ֥א אֹתָֽם ׃
καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον κατ’ εἰκόνα θεοῦ ἐποίησεν αὐτόν ἄρσεν καὶ θῆλυ ἐποίησεν αὐτούς
Et creavit Deus hominem ad imaginem suam : ad imaginem Dei creavit illum , masculum et feminam creavit eos .
ወገብሮ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለእጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ በአምሳለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ተባዕተ ፡ ወአንስተ ፡ ገብሮሙ ።
God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.
1:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ אֹתָם֮ אֱלֹהִים֒ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לָהֶ֜ם אֱלֹהִ֗ים פְּר֥וּ וּרְב֛וּ וּמִלְא֥וּ אֶת ־הָאָ֖רֶץ וְכִבְשֻׁ֑הָ וּרְד֞וּ בִּדְגַ֤ת הַיָּם֙ וּבְע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וּבְכׇל ־חַיָּ֖ה הָֽרֹמֶ֥שֶׂת עַל ־הָאָֽרֶץ ׃
καὶ ηὐλόγησεν αὐτοὺς ὁ θεὸς λέγων αὐξάνεσθε καὶ πληθύνεσθε καὶ πληρώσατε τὴν γῆν καὶ κατακυριεύσατε αὐτῆς καὶ ἄρχετε τῶν ἰχθύων τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ τῶν πετεινῶν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ πάντων τῶν κτηνῶν καὶ πάσης τῆς γῆς καὶ πάντων τῶν ἑρπετῶν τῶν ἑρπόντων ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς
Benedixitque illis Deus , et ait : Crescite et multiplicamini , et replete terram , et subjicite eam , et dominamini piscibus maris , et volatilibus caeli , et universis animantibus , quae moventur super terram .
ወባረኮሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ብዝኁ ፡ ወተባዝኁ ፡ ወምልእዋ ፡ ለምድር ፡ ወቅንይዋ ፡ ወኰንንዎሙ ፡ ለዓሣተ ፡ ባሕር ፡ ወለአዕዋፈ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወለኵሉ ፡ እንስሳ ፡ ወለኵሉ ፡ ዘይትሐወስ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ምድር ።
God blessed them. God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
1:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֗ים הִנֵּה֩ נָתַ֨תִּי לָכֶ֜ם אֶת ־כׇּל ־עֵ֣שֶׂב ׀ זֹרֵ֣עַ זֶ֗רַע אֲשֶׁר֙ עַל ־פְּנֵ֣י כׇל ־הָאָ֔רֶץ וְאֶת ־כׇּל ־הָעֵ֛ץ אֲשֶׁר ־בּ֥וֹ פְרִי ־עֵ֖ץ זֹרֵ֣עַ זָ֑רַע לָכֶ֥ם יִֽהְיֶ֖ה לְאׇכְלָֽה ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός ἰδοὺ δέδωκα ὑμῖν πᾶν χόρτον σπόριμον σπεῖρον σπέρμα ὅ ἐστιν ἐπάνω πάσης τῆς γῆς καὶ πᾶν ξύλον ὃ ἔχει ἐν ἑαυτῷ καρπὸν σπέρματος σπορίμου ὑμῖν ἔσται εἰς βρῶσιν
Dixitque Deus : Ecce dedi vobis omnem herbam afferentem semen super terram , et universa ligna quae habent in semetipsis sementem generis sui , ut sint vobis in escam :
ወይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ናሁ ፡ ወሀብኩክሙ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ሣዕረ ፡ ዘይዘራእ ፡ ወይበቍል ፡ በዘርኡ ፡ ተዘሪኦ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ዕፀው ፡ ዘሀሎ ፡ ውስቴቱ ፡ ዘርኡ ፡ ዘይዘራእ ፡ በፍሬሁ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ መብልዕ ፤
God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.
1:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּֽלְכׇל ־חַיַּ֣ת הָ֠אָ֠רֶץ וּלְכׇל ־ע֨וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֜יִם וּלְכֹ֣ל ׀ רוֹמֵ֣שׂ עַל ־הָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁר ־בּוֹ֙ נֶ֣פֶשׁ חַיָּ֔ה אֶת ־כׇּל ־יֶ֥רֶק עֵ֖שֶׂב לְאׇכְלָ֑ה וַֽיְהִי ־כֵֽן ׃
καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς θηρίοις τῆς γῆς καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς πετεινοῖς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ παντὶ ἑρπετῷ τῷ ἕρποντι ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ὃ ἔχει ἐν ἑαυτῷ ψυχὴν ζωῆς πάντα χόρτον χλωρὸν εἰς βρῶσιν καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως
et cunctis animantibus terrae , omnique volucri caeli , et universis quae moventur in terra , et in quibus est anima vivens , ut habeant ad vescendum . Et factum est ita .
ወለኵሉ ፡ አራዊተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወለኵሉ ፡ አዕዋፈ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወለኵሉ ፡ ዘይትሐወስ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ዘቦ ፡ መንፈሰ ፡ ሕይወት ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ሐመልማለ ፡ ሣዕር ፡ ይኩንክሙ ፡ መብልዐ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ከማሁ ።
To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food;” and it was so.
1:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֤רְא אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת ־כׇּל ־אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֔ה וְהִנֵּה ־ט֖וֹב מְאֹ֑ד וַֽיְהִי ־עֶ֥רֶב וַֽיְהִי ־בֹ֖קֶר י֥וֹם הַשִּׁשִּֽׁי ׃ {פ}
καὶ εἶδεν ὁ θεὸς τὰ πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησεν καὶ ἰδοὺ καλὰ λίαν καὶ ἐγένετο ἑσπέρα καὶ ἐγένετο πρωί ἡμέρα ἕκτη
Viditque Deus cuncta quae fecerat , et erant valde bona . Et factum est vespere et mane , dies sextus .
ወርእየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘገብረ ፡ ከመ ፡ ጥቀ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ሌሊተ ፡ ወጸብሐ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ሳድስተ ፡ ዕለተ ።
God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.
