17:1
בִּשְׁנַת֙ שְׁתֵּ֣ים עֶשְׂרֵ֔ה לְאָחָ֖ז מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה מָ֠לַ֠ךְ הוֹשֵׁ֨עַ בֶּן־אֵלָ֧ה בְשֹׁמְר֛וֹן עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל תֵּ֥שַׁע שָׁנִֽים׃
ἐν ἔτει δωδεκάτῳ τῷ Αχαζ βασιλεῖ Ιουδα ἐβασίλευσεν Ωσηε υἱὸς Ηλα ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ ἐπὶ Ισραηλ ἐννέα ἔτη
Anno duodecimo Achaz regis Juda, regnavit Osee filius Ela in Samaria super Israël novem annis.
አመ፡ ፲ወ፪ዓመተ፡ መንግሥቱ፡ ለአካዝ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ይሁደ፡ ነግሠ፡ ሆሴዕ፡ ወልደ፡ ኤላ፡ በሰማርያ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ፱ክረምተ።
In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah began to reign in Samaria over Israel for nine years.
17:2
וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה רַ֗ק לֹ֚א כְּמַלְכֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָי֖וּ לְפָנָֽיו׃
καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ πονηρὸν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς κυρίου πλὴν οὐχ ὡς οἱ βασιλεῖς Ισραηλ οἳ ἦσαν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ
Fecitque malum coram Domino, sed non sicut reges Israël qui ante eum fuerant.
ወገብረ፡ እኩየ፡ ቅድመ፡ አዕይንቲሁ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወባሕቱ፡ ኢከመ፡ ነገሥተ፡ እስራኤል፡ እለ፡ እምቅድሜሁ።
He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, yet not as the kings of Israel who were before him.
17:3
עָלָ֣יו עָלָ֔ה שַׁלְמַנְאֶ֖סֶר מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֑וּר וַֽיְהִי־ל֤וֹ הוֹשֵׁ֙עַ֙ עֶ֔בֶד וַיָּ֥שֶׁב ל֖וֹ מִנְחָֽה׃
ἐπ’ αὐτὸν ἀνέβη Σαλαμανασαρ βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῷ Ωσηε δοῦλος καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν αὐτῷ μαναα
Contra hunc ascendit Salmanasar rex Assyriorum, et factus est ei Osee servus, reddebatque illi tributa.
ወዐርገ፡ ስልምናሶር፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ ወኮኖ፡ ሆሴዕ፡ ገብረ፡ ወአግብአ፡ ሎቱ፡ መሀና።
Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him; and Hoshea became his servant, and brought him tribute.
17:4
וַיִּמְצָא֩ מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁ֨וּר בְּהוֹשֵׁ֜עַ קֶ֗שֶׁר אֲשֶׁ֨ר שָׁלַ֤ח מַלְאָכִים֙ אֶל־ס֣וֹא מֶֽלֶךְ־מִצְרַ֔יִם וְלֹא־הֶעֱלָ֥ה מִנְחָ֛ה לְמֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּׁ֖וּר כְּשָׁנָ֣ה בְשָׁנָ֑ה וַֽיַּעְצְרֵ֙הוּ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר וַיַּאַסְרֵ֖הוּ בֵּ֥ית כֶּֽלֶא׃
καὶ εὗρεν βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων ἐν τῷ Ωσηε ἀδικίαν ὅτι ἀπέστειλεν ἀγγέλους πρὸς Σηγωρ βασιλέα Αἰγύπτου καὶ οὐκ ἤνεγκεν μαναα τῷ βασιλεῖ Ἀσσυρίων ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ ἐκείνῳ καὶ ἐπολιόρκησεν αὐτὸν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων καὶ ἔδησεν αὐτὸν ἐν οἴκῳ φυλακῆς
Cumque deprehendisset rex Assyriorum Osee, quod rebellare nitens misisset nuntios ad Sua regem Aegypti ne praestaret tributa regi Assyriorum sicut singulis annis solitus erat, obsedit eum, et vinctum misit in carcerem.
ወብእሶ፡ ለንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ እስመ፡ ፈነወ፡ ሐዋርያተ፡ ኀበ፡ ሰጎል፡ ንጉሠ፡ ግብጽ፡ ወኢያምጽአ፡ ሎቱ፡ መሀና፡ ለንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ በውእቱ፡ ዓመት፡ ወተቃተሎ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ ወአሰሮ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤተ፡ ሞቅሕ።
The king of Assyria discovered a conspiracy in Hoshea; for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria seized him, and bound him in prison.
17:5
וַיַּ֥עַל מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁ֖וּר בְּכׇל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיַּ֙עַל֙ שֹׁמְר֔וֹן וַיָּ֥צַר עָלֶ֖יהָ שָׁלֹ֥שׁ שָׁנִֽים׃
καὶ ἀνέβη ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ καὶ ἀνέβη εἰς Σαμάρειαν καὶ ἐπολιόρκησεν ἐπ’ αὐτὴν τρία ἔτη
Pervagatusque est omnem terram : et ascendens Samariam, obsedit eam tribus annis.
ወዐርገ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ ውስተ፡ ኵሉ፡ ምድር፡ ወዐርገ፡ ውስተ፡ ሰማርያ፡ ወተቃተለ፡ ፫ዓመተ።
Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
17:6
בִּשְׁנַ֨ת הַתְּשִׁעִ֜ית לְהוֹשֵׁ֗עַ לָכַ֤ד מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּר֙ אֶת־שֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן וַיֶּ֥גֶל אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אַשּׁ֑וּרָה וַיֹּ֨שֶׁב אוֹתָ֜ם בַּחְלַ֧ח וּבְחָב֛וֹר נְהַ֥ר גּוֹזָ֖ן וְעָרֵ֥י מָדָֽי׃ {פ}
ἐν ἔτει ἐνάτῳ Ωσηε συνέλαβεν βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων τὴν Σαμάρειαν καὶ ἀπῴκισεν τὸν Ισραηλ εἰς Ἀσσυρίους καὶ κατῴκισεν αὐτοὺς ἐν Αλαε καὶ ἐν Αβωρ ποταμοῖς Γωζαν καὶ Ορη Μήδων
Anno autem nono Osee, cepit rex Assyriorum Samariam, et transtulit Israël in Assyrios : posuitque eos in Hala et in Habor juxta fluvium Gozan, in civitatibus Medorum.
ወአመ፡ ፱፡ ዓመተ፡ መንግሥቱ፡ ለሆሴዕ፡ ነሥኣ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ ለሰማርያ፡ ወአፍለሶሙ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ብሔረ፡ ፋርስ፡ ወአንበሮሙ፡ ውስተ፡ አላሔ፡ ወውስተ፡ አቦር፡ አፍላገ፡ ጎዛን፡ ወውስተ፡ አድባረ፡ ሜዶን።
In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria and carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
17:7
וַיְהִ֗י כִּֽי־חָטְא֤וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לַיהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֔ם הַמַּעֲלֶ֤ה אֹתָם֙ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם מִתַּ֕חַת יַ֖ד פַּרְעֹ֣ה מֶֽלֶךְ־מִצְרָ֑יִם וַיִּֽירְא֖וּ אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִֽים׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτι ἥμαρτον οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ αὐτῶν τῷ ἀναγαγόντι αὐτοὺς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου ὑποκάτωθεν χειρὸς Φαραω βασιλέως Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν θεοὺς ἑτέρους
Factum est enim, cum peccassent filii Israël Domino Deo suo, qui eduxerat eos de terra Aegypti, de manu Pharaonis regis Aegypti, coluerunt deos alienos.
ወአመ፡ ይኤብሱ፡ ደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ አምላኮሙ፡ ዘአውፅኦሙ፡ አምድረ፡ ግብጽ፡ እምታሕተ፡ እዴሁ፡ ለፈርዖን፡ ንጉሠ፡ ግብጽ፡ ወኢፈርህዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወአምላኩ፡ ባዕደ፡ አማልክተ።
It was so because the children of Israel had sinned against Yahweh their God, who brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,
17:8
וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙ בְּחֻקּ֣וֹת הַגּוֹיִ֔ם אֲשֶׁר֙ הוֹרִ֣ישׁ יְהֹוָ֔ה מִפְּנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וּמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשֽׂוּ׃
καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν τοῖς δικαιώμασιν τῶν ἐθνῶν ὧν ἐξῆρεν κύριος ἀπὸ προσώπου υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ οἱ βασιλεῖς Ισραηλ ὅσοι ἐποίησαν
Et ambulaverunt juxta ritum gentium quas consumpserat Dominus in conspectu filiorum Israël et regum Israël, quia similiter fecerant.
ወሖሩ፡ በሕገ፡ አሕዛብ፡ እለ፡ አሰሰለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እምቅድመ፡ ገጾሙ፡ ለደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወኵሉ፡ ዘገብሩ፡ ነገሥተ፡ እስራኤል ፤
and walked in the statutes of the nations whom Yahweh cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they made.
17:9
וַיְחַפְּא֣וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל דְּבָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא־כֵ֔ן עַל־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם וַיִּבְנ֨וּ לָהֶ֤ם בָּמוֹת֙ בְּכׇל־עָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם מִמִּגְדַּ֥ל נוֹצְרִ֖ים עַד־עִ֥יר מִבְצָֽר׃
καὶ ὅσοι ἠμφιέσαντο οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ λόγους οὐχ οὕτως κατὰ κυρίου θεοῦ αὐτῶν καὶ ᾠκοδόμησαν ἑαυτοῖς ὑψηλὰ ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῶν ἀπὸ πύργου φυλασσόντων ἕως πόλεως ὀχυρᾶς
Et offenderunt filii Israël verbis non rectis Dominum Deum suum : et aedificaverunt sibi excelsa in cunctis urbibus suis, a turre custodum usque ad civitatem munitam.
ወኵሉ፡ ዘፈጠሩ፡ ነገረ፡ ደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ ዘኢይፈቅድ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላኮሙ፡ ወሐነጹ፡ ሎሙ፡ አብያተ፡ አማልክት፡ ውስተ፡ ኵሉ፡ አህጉሪሆሙ፡ እምነ፡ ማኅፈዶሙ፡ ለሰብአ፡ ዐይን፡ እስከ፡ አህጉረ፡ ቅጽር።
The children of Israel secretly did things that were not right against Yahweh their God; and they built high places for themselves in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city;
17:10
וַיַּצִּ֧בוּ לָהֶ֛ם מַצֵּב֖וֹת וַאֲשֵׁרִ֑ים עַ֚ל כׇּל־גִּבְעָ֣ה גְבֹהָ֔ה וְתַ֖חַת כׇּל־עֵ֥ץ רַעֲנָֽן׃
καὶ ἐστήλωσαν ἑαυτοῖς στήλας καὶ ἄλση ἐπὶ παντὶ βουνῷ ὑψηλῷ καὶ ὑποκάτω παντὸς ξύλου ἀλσώδους
Feceruntque sibi statuas et lucos in omni colle sublimi, et subter omne lignum nemorosum :
ወገብሩ፡ ሎሙ፡ ምስለ፡ ወአምለኩ፡ ወአሕረሙ፡ ዖመ፡ ውስተ፡ ኵሉ፡ አድባር፡ ነዋኅት፡ ወአውግር፡ ወታሕተ፡ ኵሉ፡ ዖም፡ ጽፉቅ።
and they set up for themselves pillars and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree;
17:11
וַיְקַטְּרוּ־שָׁם֙ בְּכׇל־בָּמ֔וֹת כַּגּוֹיִ֕ם אֲשֶׁר־הֶגְלָ֥ה יְהֹוָ֖ה מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם וַֽיַּעֲשׂוּ֙ דְּבָרִ֣ים רָעִ֔ים לְהַכְעִ֖יס אֶת־יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ ἐθυμίασαν ἐκεῖ ἐν πᾶσιν ὑψηλοῖς καθὼς τὰ ἔθνη ἃ ἀπῴκισεν κύριος ἐκ προσώπου αὐτῶν καὶ ἐποίησαν κοινωνοὺς καὶ ἐχάραξαν τοῦ παροργίσαι τὸν κύριον
et adolebant ibi incensum super aras in morem gentium quas transtulerat Dominus a facie eorum : feceruntque verba pessima irritantes Dominum.
ወዐጠኑ፡ ህየ፡ ውስተ፡ ኵሉ፡ አብያተ፡ አማልክቲሆሙ፡ በከመ፡ አሕዛብ፡ እለ፡ አሰሰለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እምቅድመ፡ ገጾሙ፡ ወገብሩ፡ ምሕራማተ፡ ወጸቈኑ፡ ከመ፡ ያምዕዕዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር።
and there they burned incense in all the high places, as the nations whom Yahweh carried away before them did; and they did wicked things to provoke Yahweh to anger;
17:12
וַיַּֽעַבְד֖וּ הַגִּלֻּלִ֑ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר אָמַ֤ר יְהֹוָה֙ לָהֶ֔ם לֹ֥א תַעֲשׂ֖וּ אֶת־הַדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃
καὶ ἐλάτρευσαν τοῖς εἰδώλοις οἷς εἶπεν κύριος αὐτοῖς οὐ ποιήσετε τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο κυρίῳ
Et coluerunt immunditias de quibus praecepit eis Dominus ne facerent verbum hoc.
ወተቀንዩ፡ ለአማልክት፡ ዘይቤሎሙ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዑቁ፡ ኢትግበሩ፡ ዘነገረ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር።
and they served idols, of which Yahweh had said to them, “You shall not do this thing.”
17:13
וַיָּ֣עַד יְהֹוָ֡ה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל וּבִיהוּדָ֡ה בְּיַד֩ כׇּל־[נְבִיאֵ֨י] (נביאו) כׇל־חֹזֶ֜ה לֵאמֹ֗ר שֻׁ֜֠בוּ מִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֤ם הָֽרָעִים֙ וְשִׁמְרוּ֙ מִצְוֺתַ֣י חֻקּוֹתַ֔י כְּכׇ֨ל־הַתּוֹרָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוִּ֖יתִי אֶת־אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם וַֽאֲשֶׁר֙ שָׁלַ֣חְתִּי אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם בְּיַ֖ד עֲבָדַ֥י הַנְּבִיאִֽים׃
καὶ διεμαρτύρατο κύριος ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐν τῷ Ιουδα ἐν χειρὶ πάντων τῶν προφητῶν αὐτοῦ παντὸς ὁρῶντος λέγων ἀποστράφητε ἀπὸ τῶν ὁδῶν ὑμῶν τῶν πονηρῶν καὶ φυλάξατε τὰς ἐντολάς μου καὶ τὰ δικαιώματά μου καὶ πάντα τὸν νόμον ὃν ἐνετειλάμην τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν ὅσα ἀπέστειλα αὐτοῖς ἐν χειρὶ τῶν δούλων μου τῶν προφητῶν
Et testificatus est Dominus in Israël et in Juda per manum omnium prophetarum et videntium, dicens : Revertimini a viis vestris pessimis, et custodite praecepta mea et caeremonias, juxta omnem legem quam praecepi patribus vestris, et sicut misi ad vos in manu servorum meorum prophetarum.
ወተካየዶሙ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ወለይሁዳ፡ በአደ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ነቢያቲሁ፡ እንዘ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ይሰምዑ፡ ወይቤሎሙ፡ ተመየጡ፡ እምፍኖትክሙ፡ እኪት፡ ወዕቀቡ፡ ፍናውየ፡ ወትእዛዝየ፡ ወኵነኔየ፡ ወኵሎ፡ ሕግየ፡ ዘአዘዝክዎሙ፡ ለአበዊክሙ፡ ወኵሎ፡ ዘለአኩ፡ ሎሙ፡ ምስለ፡ አግብርትየ፡ ነቢያት።
Yet Yahweh testified to Israel and to Judah, by every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”
17:14
וְלֹ֖א שָׁמֵ֑עוּ וַיַּקְשׁ֤וּ אֶת־עׇרְפָּם֙ כְּעֹ֣רֶף אֲבוֹתָ֔ם אֲשֶׁר֙ לֹ֣א הֶאֱמִ֔ינוּ בַּֽיהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃
καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσαν καὶ ἐσκλήρυναν τὸν νῶτον αὐτῶν ὑπὲρ τὸν νῶτον τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν
Qui non audierunt, sed induraverunt cervicem suam juxta cervicem patrum suorum, qui noluerunt obedire Domino Deo suo.
ወኢሰምዑ፡ ወአጽንዑ፡ ዘባናቲሆሙ፡ እምዘባናተ፡ አበዊሆሙ።
Notwithstanding, they would not listen, but hardened their neck like the neck of their fathers who didn’t believe in Yahweh their God.
17:15
וַיִּמְאֲס֣וּ אֶת־חֻקָּ֗יו וְאֶת־בְּרִיתוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּרַ֣ת אֶת־אֲבוֹתָ֔ם וְאֵת֙ עֵֽדְוֺתָ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֵעִ֖יד בָּ֑ם וַיֵּ֨לְכ֜וּ אַחֲרֵ֤י הַהֶ֙בֶל֙ וַיֶּהְבָּ֔לוּ וְאַחֲרֵ֤י הַגּוֹיִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר סְבִֽיבֹתָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֤ה יְהֹוָה֙ אֹתָ֔ם לְבִלְתִּ֖י עֲשׂ֥וֹת כָּהֶֽם׃
καὶ τὰ μαρτύρια αὐτοῦ ὅσα διεμαρτύρατο αὐτοῖς οὐκ ἐφύλαξαν καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ὀπίσω τῶν ματαίων καὶ ἐματαιώθησαν καὶ ὀπίσω τῶν ἐθνῶν τῶν περικύκλῳ αὐτῶν ὧν ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς τοῦ μὴ ποιῆσαι κατὰ ταῦτα
Et abjecerunt legitima ejus, et pactum quod pepigit cum patribus eorum, et testificationes quibus contestatus est eos : secutique sunt vanitates, et vane egerunt : et secuti sunt gentes quae erant per circuitum eorum, super quibus praeceperat Dominus eis ut non facerent sicut et illae faciebant.
ወኵሎ፡ ኪዳነ፡ ዘተካየዶሙ፡ ኢዐቀቡ፡ ወተለዉ፡ ከንቶ፡ ወኮኑ፡ ከንቶ፡ ወተለዉ፡ አሕዛበ፡ እለ፡ ዐውዶሙ፡ ዘአዘዞሙ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ከመ፡ ኢይግበሩ፡ ከማሆሙ።
They rejected his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified to them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom Yahweh had commanded them that they should not do like them.
17:16
וַיַּעַזְב֗וּ אֶת־כׇּל־מִצְוֺת֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֔ם וַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּ לָהֶ֛ם מַסֵּכָ֖ה (שנים) [שְׁנֵ֣י] עֲגָלִ֑ים וַיַּעֲשׂ֣וּ אֲשֵׁירָ֗ה וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲווּ֙ לְכׇל־צְבָ֣א הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַיַּעַבְד֖וּ אֶת־הַבָּֽעַל׃
ἐγκατέλιπον τὰς ἐντολὰς κυρίου θεοῦ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοῖς χώνευμα δύο δαμάλεις καὶ ἐποίησαν ἄλση καὶ προσεκύνησαν πάσῃ τῇ δυνάμει τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἐλάτρευσαν τῷ Βααλ
Et dereliquerunt omnia praecepta Domini Dei sui : feceruntque sibi conflatiles duos vitulos, et lucos, et adoraverunt universam militiam caeli : servieruntque Baal,
ወኀደጉ፡ ትእዛዘ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላኮሙ፡ ወገብሩ፡ ሎሙ፡ ስብኮ፡ ፪እጐልተ፡ ወገብሩ፡ ሎሙ፡ ምሕራማተ፡ ዖም፡ ወሰገዱ፡ ለኵሉ፡ ኀይለ፡ ሰማይ፡ ወአምላክዎ፡ ለበዓል።
They abandoned all the commandments of Yahweh their God, and made molten images for themselves, even two calves, and made an Asherah, and worshiped all the army of the sky, and served Baal.
17:17
וַֽ֠יַּעֲבִ֠ירוּ אֶת־בְּנֵיהֶ֤ם וְאֶת־בְּנֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙ בָּאֵ֔שׁ וַיִּקְסְמ֥וּ קְסָמִ֖ים וַיְנַחֵ֑שׁוּ וַיִּֽתְמַכְּר֗וּ לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת הָרַ֛ע בְּעֵינֵ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה לְהַכְעִיסֽוֹ׃
καὶ διῆγον τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτῶν ἐν πυρὶ καὶ ἐμαντεύοντο μαντείας καὶ οἰωνίζοντο καὶ ἐπράθησαν τοῦ ποιῆσαι τὸ πονηρὸν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς κυρίου παροργίσαι αὐτόν
et consecraverunt filios suos et filias suas per ignem : et divinationibus inserviebant, et auguriis : et tradiderunt se ut facerent malum coram Domino, ut irritarent eum.
ወሦዑ፡ ሎሙ፡ ደቂቆሙ፡ ወአዋልዲሆሙ፡ በእሳት፡ ወያስተቃስሙ፡ ወያሰግሉ፡ ወተሠየጡ፡ ከመ፡ ይግበሩ፡ እኩየ፡ ቅድመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወከመ፡ ያምዕዕዎ።
They caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, to provoke him to anger.
17:18
וַיִּתְאַנַּ֨ף יְהֹוָ֤ה מְאֹד֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיְסִרֵ֖ם מֵעַ֣ל פָּנָ֑יו לֹ֣א נִשְׁאַ֔ר רַ֛ק שֵׁ֥בֶט יְהוּדָ֖ה לְבַדּֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἐθυμώθη κύριος σφόδρα ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ καὶ ἀπέστησεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐχ ὑπελείφθη πλὴν φυλὴ Ιουδα μονωτάτη
Iratusque est Dominus vehementer Israëli, et abstulit eos a conspectu suo, et non remansit nisi tribus Juda tantummodo.
ወተምዐ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ፈድፋደ፡ ላዕለ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወገደፎሙ፡ እምቅድመ፡ ገጹ፡ ወኢተርፉ፡ እንበለ፡ ነገደ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ባሕቲቶሙ።
Therefore Yahweh was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight. There was none left but the tribe of Judah only.
17:19
גַּם־יְהוּדָ֕ה לֹ֣א שָׁמַ֔ר אֶת־מִצְוֺ֖ת יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם וַיֵּ֣לְכ֔וּ בְּחֻקּ֥וֹת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשֽׂוּ׃
καί γε Ιουδας οὐκ ἐφύλαξεν τὰς ἐντολὰς κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ἐν τοῖς δικαιώμασιν Ισραηλ οἷς ἐποίησαν
Sed nec ipse Juda custodivit mandata Domini Dei sui : verum ambulavit in erroribus Israël, quos operatus fuerat.
ወይሁዳኒ፡ ኢዐቀቡ፡ ትእዛዘ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላኮሙ፡ ወሖሩ፡ በግዕዞሙ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ዘገብሩ፡ ወኀደግዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር።
Also Judah didn’t keep the commandments of Yahweh their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.
17:20
וַיִּמְאַ֨ס יְהֹוָ֜ה בְּכׇל־זֶ֤רַע יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַיְעַנֵּ֔ם וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֖ם בְּיַד־שֹׁסִ֑ים עַ֛ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִשְׁלִיכָ֖ם מִפָּנָֽיו׃
καὶ ἀπεώσαντο τὸν κύριον ἐν παντὶ σπέρματι Ισραηλ καὶ ἐσάλευσεν αὐτοὺς καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοὺς ἐν χειρὶ διαρπαζόντων αὐτούς ἕως οὗ ἀπέρριψεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ
Projecitque Dominus omne semen Israël, et afflixit eos, et tradidit eos in manu diripientium, donec projiceret eos a facie sua :
ወተምዕዐ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ላዕለ፡ ኵሉ፡ ዘርአ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወሆኮሙ፡ ወአግብኦሙ፡ ውስተ፡ እዴሆሙ፡ ለእለ፡ ይትማሠጥዎሙ፡ እስከ፡ ገደፎሙ፡ እምቅድመ፡ ገጹ።
Yahweh rejected all the offspring of Israel, afflicted them, and delivered them into the hands of raiders, until he had cast them out of his sight.
17:21
כִּֽי־קָרַ֣ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מֵעַל֙ בֵּ֣ית דָּוִ֔ד וַיַּמְלִ֖יכוּ אֶת־יָרׇבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־נְבָ֑ט (וידא) [וַיַּדַּ֨ח] יָרׇבְעָ֤ם אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מֵאַחֲרֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה וְהֶחֱטִיאָ֖ם חֲטָאָ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה׃
ὅτι πλὴν Ισραηλ ἐπάνωθεν οἴκου Δαυιδ καὶ ἐβασίλευσαν τὸν Ιεροβοαμ υἱὸν Ναβατ καὶ ἐξέωσεν Ιεροβοαμ τὸν Ισραηλ ἐξόπισθεν κυρίου καὶ ἐξήμαρτεν αὐτοὺς ἁμαρτίαν μεγάλην
ex eo jam tempore quo scissus est Israël a domo David, et constituerunt sibi regem Jeroboam filium Nabat : separavit enim Jeroboam Israël a Domino, et peccare eos fecit peccatum magnum.
ወአልቦ፡ እምቤተ፡ ዳዊት፡ ዘእንበለ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወአንገሥዎ፡ ለኢዮርብዓም፡ ወልደ፡ ናባጥ፡ ወአኅደጎሙ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ተሊዎቶ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወአስሐቶሙ፡ በዐቢይ፡ ጌጋይ።
For he tore Israel from David’s house; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king; and Jeroboam drove Israel from following Yahweh, and made them sin a great sin.
17:22
וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּכׇל־חַטֹּ֥אות יָרׇבְעָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה לֹא־סָ֖רוּ מִמֶּֽנָּה׃
καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἐν πάσῃ ἁμαρτίᾳ Ιεροβοαμ ᾗ ἐποίησεν οὐκ ἀπέστησαν ἀπ’ αὐτῆς
Et ambulaverunt filii Israël in universis peccatis Jeroboam quae fecerat : et non recesserunt ab eis,
ወተለዉ፡ ደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ ኵሎ፡ ኀጢአቶ፡ ለኢዮርብንም፡ ዘገብረ፡ ወኢኀዶጉ፡ ኪያሁ ፤
The children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they didn’t depart from them
17:23
עַ֠ד אֲשֶׁר־הֵסִ֨יר יְהֹוָ֤ה אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מֵעַ֣ל פָּנָ֔יו כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֔ר בְּיַ֖ד כׇּל־עֲבָדָ֣יו הַנְּבִיאִ֑ים וַיִּ֨גֶל יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל מֵעַ֤ל אַדְמָתוֹ֙ אַשּׁ֔וּרָה עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃ {פ}
ἕως οὗ μετέστησεν κύριος τὸν Ισραηλ ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καθὼς ἐλάλησεν κύριος ἐν χειρὶ πάντων τῶν δούλων αὐτοῦ τῶν προφητῶν καὶ ἀπῳκίσθη Ισραηλ ἐπάνωθεν τῆς γῆς αὐτοῦ εἰς Ἀσσυρίους ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης
usquequo Dominus auferret Israël a facie sua, sicut locutus fuerat in manu omnium servorum suorum prophetarum : translatusque est Israël de terra sua in Assyrios, usque in diem hanc.
እስከ፡ ገደፎሙ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለእስራኤል፡ እምቅድመ፡ ገጹ፡ በከመ፡ ነበበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በእደ፡ ኵሉ፡ አግብርቲሁ፡ ነቢያት ፤ ወፈለሱ፡ እስራኤል፡ እምብሔሮሙ፡ ለብሔረ፡ ፋርስ፡ እስከ፡ ዮም።
until Yahweh removed Israel out of his sight, as he said by all his servants the prophets. So Israel was carried away out of their own land to Assyria to this day.
17:24
וַיָּבֵ֣א מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁ֡וּר מִבָּבֶ֡ל וּ֠מִכּ֠וּתָה וּמֵעַוָּ֤א וּמֵֽחֲמָת֙ וּסְפַרְוַ֔יִם וַיֹּ֙שֶׁב֙ בְּעָרֵ֣י שֹֽׁמְר֔וֹן תַּ֖חַת בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּֽרְשׁוּ֙ אֶת־שֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן וַיֵּֽשְׁב֖וּ בְּעָרֶֽיהָ׃
καὶ ἤγαγεν βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων ἐκ Βαβυλῶνος τὸν ἐκ Χουνθα καὶ ἀπὸ Αια καὶ ἀπὸ Αιμαθ καὶ Σεπφαρουαιν καὶ κατῳκίσθησαν ἐν πόλεσιν Σαμαρείας ἀντὶ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ ἐκληρονόμησαν τὴν Σαμάρειαν καὶ κατῴκησαν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῆς
Adduxit autem rex Assyriorum de Babylone, et de Cutha, et de Avah, et de Emath, et de Sepharvaim : et collocavit eos in civitatibus Samariae pro filiis Israël : qui possederunt Samariam, et habitaverunt in urbibus ejus.
ወወሰዶሙ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ እምባቢሎን፡ ለአኩንታ፡ ወእምነ፡ ኤላ፡ ወእምኤማት፡ ወሴፋራሔም፡ ወአንበሮሙ፡ ውስተ፡ አህጉረ፡ ሰማርያ፡ ህየንቴሆሙ፡ ለደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወወረስዋ፡ ለሰማርያ፡ ወተካፈልዋ፡ ወነበሩ፡ ውስተ፡ አህጉሪሃ።
The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, from Cuthah, from Avva, and from Hamath and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they possessed Samaria and lived in its cities.
17:25
וַיְהִ֗י בִּתְחִלַּת֙ שִׁבְתָּ֣ם שָׁ֔ם לֹ֥א יָרְא֖וּ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיְשַׁלַּ֨ח יְהֹוָ֤ה בָּהֶם֙ אֶת־הָ֣אֲרָי֔וֹת וַיִּֽהְי֥וּ הֹרְגִ֖ים בָּהֶֽם׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν ἀρχῇ τῆς καθέδρας αὐτῶν οὐκ ἐφοβήθησαν τὸν κύριον καὶ ἀπέστειλεν κύριος ἐν αὐτοῖς τοὺς λέοντας καὶ ἦσαν ἀποκτέννοντες ἐν αὐτοῖς
Cumque ibi habitare coepissent, non timebant Dominum : et immisit in eos Dominus leones, qui interficiebant eos.
ወእምዝ፡ በቀዳሚ፡ ንብረቶሙ፡ ኢፈርህዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወፈነወ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዐናብስተ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ፡ ወቀተልዎሙ።
So it was, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they didn’t fear Yahweh. Therefore Yahweh sent lions among them, which killed some of them.
17:26
וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ לְמֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁוּר֮ לֵאמֹר֒ הַגּוֹיִ֗ם אֲשֶׁ֤ר הִגְלִ֙יתָ֙ וַתּ֙וֹשֶׁב֙ בְּעָרֵ֣י שֹׁמְר֔וֹן לֹ֣א יָֽדְע֔וּ אֶת־מִשְׁפַּ֖ט אֱלֹהֵ֣י הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיְשַׁלַּח־בָּ֣ם אֶת־הָאֲרָי֗וֹת וְהִנָּם֙ מְמִיתִ֣ים אוֹתָ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁר֙ אֵינָ֣ם יֹדְעִ֔ים אֶת־מִשְׁפַּ֖ט אֱלֹהֵ֥י הָאָֽרֶץ׃
καὶ εἶπον τῷ βασιλεῖ Ἀσσυρίων λέγοντες τὰ ἔθνη ἃ ἀπῴκισας καὶ ἀντεκάθισας ἐν πόλεσιν Σαμαρείας οὐκ ἔγνωσαν τὸ κρίμα τοῦ θεοῦ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἀπέστειλεν εἰς αὐτοὺς τοὺς λέοντας καὶ ἰδού εἰσιν θανατοῦντες αὐτούς καθότι οὐκ οἴδασιν τὸ κρίμα τοῦ θεοῦ τῆς γῆς
Nuntiatumque est regi Assyriorum, et dictum : Gentes quas transtulisti, et habitare fecisti in civitatibus Samariae, ignorant legitima Dei terrae : et immisit in eos Dominus leones, et ecce interficiunt eos, eo quod ignorent ritum Dei terrae.
ወይቤ፡ ልዎ፡ ለንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ እልክቱ፡ አሕዛብ፡ እለ፡ አፍለስከ፡ ወአንበርከ፡ ውስተ፡ አህጉረ፡ ሰማርያ፡ ወኢያእመሩ፡ ሕጎ፡ ለአምላ[ከ]፡ ውእቱ፡ ብሔር፡ ወፈነወ፡ ዐናብስተ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ፡ ወበልዕዎሙ፡ ወቀተልዎሙ፡ እስመ፡ ኢያእመሩ፡ ሕጎ፡ ለአምላ[ከ]፡ ውእቱ፡ ብሔር።
Therefore they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, “The nations which you have carried away and placed in the cities of Samaria don’t know the law of the god of the land. Therefore he has sent lions among them; and behold, they kill them, because they don’t know the law of the god of the land.”
17:27
וַיְצַ֨ו מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁ֜וּר לֵאמֹ֗ר הֹלִ֤יכוּ שָׁ֙מָּה֙ אֶחָ֤ד מֵהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִגְלִיתֶ֣ם מִשָּׁ֔ם וְיֵלְכ֖וּ וְיֵ֣שְׁבוּ שָׁ֑ם וְיֹרֵ֕ם אֶת־מִשְׁפַּ֖ט אֱלֹהֵ֥י הָאָֽרֶץ׃
καὶ ἐνετείλατο ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων λέγων ἀπάγετε ἐκεῖθεν καὶ πορευέσθωσαν καὶ κατοικείτωσαν ἐκεῖ καὶ φωτιοῦσιν αὐτοὺς τὸ κρίμα τοῦ θεοῦ τῆς γῆς
Praecepit autem rex Assyriorum, dicens : Ducite illuc unum de sacerdotibus quos inde captivos adduxistis, et vadat, et habitet cum eis : et doceat eos legitima Dei terrae.
ወአዘዘ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ ይንሥኡ፡ እምውስተ፡ አይሁድ፡ ፩ካህነ፡ ወይሰዱ፡ ወያንብሮ፡ ምስሌሆሙ፡ ወይምሀ[ሮ]ሙ፡ ሕጎ፡ ለአምላ[ከ]፡ ብሔር።
Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, “Carry there one of the priests whom you brought from there; and let him go and dwell there, and let him teach them the law of the god of the land.”
17:28
וַיָּבֹ֞א אֶחָ֣ד מֵהַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר הִגְלוּ֙ מִשֹּׁ֣מְר֔וֹן וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב בְּבֵֽית־אֵ֑ל וַֽיְהִי֙ מוֹרֶ֣ה אֹתָ֔ם אֵ֖יךְ יִֽירְא֥וּ אֶת־יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ ἤγαγον ἕνα τῶν ἱερέων ὧν ἀπῴκισαν ἀπὸ Σαμαρείας καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐν Βαιθηλ καὶ ἦν φωτίζων αὐτοὺς πῶς φοβηθῶσιν τὸν κύριον
Igitur cum venisset unus de sacerdotibus his qui captivi ducti fuerant de Samaria, habitavit in Bethel, et docebat eos quomodo colerent Dominum.
ወወሰዱ፡ ፩ካህነ፡ እምውስተ፡ እለ፡ አፍለሱ፡ እምሰማርያ፡ ወአንበርዎ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤቴል፡ ወመሀሮሙ፡ ውእቱ፡ ካህን፡ ከመ፡ ይፍርህዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር።
So one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and lived in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear Yahweh.
17:29
וַיִּהְי֣וּ עֹשִׂ֔ים גּ֥וֹי גּ֖וֹי אֱלֹהָ֑יו וַיַּנִּ֣יחוּ׀ בְּבֵ֣ית הַבָּמ֗וֹת אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשׂוּ֙ הַשֹּׁ֣מְרֹנִ֔ים גּ֥וֹי גּוֹי֙ בְּעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֛ר הֵ֥ם יֹשְׁבִ֖ים שָֽׁם׃
καὶ ἦσαν ποιοῦντες ἔθνη ἔθνη θεοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ ἔθηκαν ἐν οἴκῳ τῶν ὑψηλῶν ὧν ἐποίησαν οἱ Σαμαρῖται ἔθνη ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῶν ἐν αἷς κατῴκουν ἐν αὐταῖς
Et unaquaeque gens fabricata est deum suum : posueruntque eos in fanis excelsis quae fecerant Samaritae, gens et gens in urbibus suis, in quibus habitabat.
ወገብሩ፡ በበሕዘቢሆሙ፡ አማልክቲሆሙ፡ ወአንበርዎሙ፡ ውስተ፡ አብያተ፡ አማልክት፡ ዘገብሩ፡ ሰብአ፡ ሰማርያ፡ ወበበ፡ ሕዘቢሆሙ፡ ወአህጉሪሆሙ፡ እለ፡ ውስቴቶን፡ ይነብሩ።
However every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they lived.
17:30
וְאַנְשֵׁ֣י בָבֶ֗ל עָשׂוּ֙ אֶת־סֻכּ֣וֹת בְּנ֔וֹת וְאַ֨נְשֵׁי־כ֔וּת עָשׂ֖וּ אֶת־נֵֽרְגַ֑ל וְאַנְשֵׁ֥י חֲמָ֖ת עָשׂ֥וּ אֶת־אֲשִׁימָֽא׃
καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες Βαβυλῶνος ἐποίησαν τὴν Σοκχωθβαινιθ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες Χουθ ἐποίησαν τὴν Νηριγελ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες Αιμαθ ἐποίησαν τὴν Ασιμαθ
Viri enim Babylonii fecerunt Sochothbenoth : viri autem Cuthaei fecerunt Nergel : et viri de Emath fecerunt Asima.
ወሰብአ፡ ባቢሎን፡ ገብርዋ፡ ለሰከተቤናሆን፡ ወሰብአ፡ ኵቱ፡ ገብርዋ፡ ለኤርጌት፡ ወሰብአ፡ ኤማት፡ ገብርዋ፡ ለኤሴማት ።
The men of Babylon made Succoth Benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,
17:31
וְהָעַוִּ֛ים עָשׂ֥וּ נִבְחַ֖ז וְאֶת־תַּרְתָּ֑ק וְהַסְפַרְוִ֗ים שֹׂרְפִ֤ים אֶת־בְּנֵיהֶם֙ בָּאֵ֔שׁ לְאַדְרַמֶּ֥לֶךְ וַֽעֲנַמֶּ֖לֶךְ (אלה) [אֱלֹהֵ֥י] (ספרים) [סְפַרְוָֽיִם]׃
καὶ οἱ Ευαῖοι ἐποίησαν τὴν Εβλαζερ καὶ τὴν Θαρθακ καὶ οἱ Σεπφαρουαιν κατέκαιον τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτῶν ἐν πυρὶ τῷ Αδραμελεχ καὶ Ανημελεχ θεοῖς Σεπφαρουαιν
Porro Hevaei fecerunt Nebahaz et Tharthac. Hi autem qui erant de Sepharvaim, comburebant filios suos igni, Adramelech et Anamelech diis Sepharvaim,
ወሰብአ፡ ኤዌዎን፡ ገብርዋ፡ ለኤብላዘር፡ ወለትርቃት፡ ወለሌፍሮን፡ በኀበ፡ ሦዑ፡ ውሉዶሙ፡ ባእሳት፡ ለአድራሜሌክ፡ ወእኔሜሌክ፡ አማልክተ፡ ሴፋርም።
and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.
17:32
וַיִּהְי֥וּ יְרֵאִ֖ים אֶת־יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיַּעֲשׂ֨וּ לָהֶ֤ם מִקְצוֹתָם֙ כֹּהֲנֵ֣י בָמ֔וֹת וַיִּהְי֛וּ עֹשִׂ֥ים לָהֶ֖ם בְּבֵ֥ית הַבָּמֽוֹת׃
καὶ ἦσαν φοβούμενοι τὸν κύριον καὶ κατῴκισαν τὰ βδελύγματα αὐτῶν ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις τῶν ὑψηλῶν ἃ ἐποίησαν ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ ἔθνος ἔθνος ἐν πόλει ἐν ᾗ κατῴκουν ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ ἦσαν φοβούμενοι τὸν κύριον καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοῖς ἱερεῖς τῶν ὑψηλῶν καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοῖς ἐν οἴκῳ τῶν ὑψηλῶν
et nihilominus colebant Dominum. Fecerunt autem sibi de novissimis sacerdotes excelsorum, et ponebant eos in fanis sublimibus.
ወተፀምዱ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ እሙንቱ፡ ወአማልክቲሆሙ፡ አንበሩ፡ ውስተ፡ አብያት፡ ዘሰማርያ፡ ዘአማልክቲሆሙ፡ በበሕዘቢሆሙ፡ ለለአህጉሪሆሙ።
So they feared Yahweh, and also made from among themselves priests of the high places for themselves, who sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.
17:33
אֶת־יְהֹוָ֖ה הָי֣וּ יְרֵאִ֑ים וְאֶת־אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶם֙ הָי֣וּ עֹֽבְדִ֔ים כְּמִשְׁפַּט֙ הַגּוֹיִ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־הִגְל֥וּ אֹתָ֖ם מִשָּֽׁם׃
τὸν κύριον ἐφοβοῦντο καὶ τοῖς θεοῖς αὐτῶν ἐλάτρευον κατὰ τὸ κρίμα τῶν ἐθνῶν ὅθεν ἀπῴκισεν αὐτοὺς ἐκεῖθεν
Et cum Dominum colerent, diis quoque suis serviebant juxta consuetudinem gentium, de quibus translati fuerant Samariam.
ወፈርሁ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እንዘ፡ አማልክቲሆሙ፡ ያመልኩ፡ በሕገ፡ አሕዛብ፡ እለ፡ አፍለሱ፡ በህየ፡ እስከ፡ ዮም።
They feared Yahweh, and also served their own gods, after the ways of the nations from among whom they had been carried away.
17:34
עַ֣ד הַיּ֤וֹם הַזֶּה֙ הֵ֣ם עֹשִׂ֔ים כַּמִּשְׁפָּטִ֖ים הָרִֽאשֹׁנִ֑ים אֵינָ֤ם יְרֵאִים֙ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֔ה וְאֵינָ֣ם עֹשִׂ֗ים כְּחֻקֹּתָם֙ וּכְמִשְׁפָּטָ֔ם וְכַתּוֹרָ֣ה וְכַמִּצְוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֤ה יְהֹוָה֙ אֶת־בְּנֵ֣י יַעֲקֹ֔ב אֲשֶׁר־שָׂ֥ם שְׁמ֖וֹ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης αὐτοὶ ἐποίουν κατὰ τὸ κρίμα αὐτῶν αὐτοὶ φοβοῦνται καὶ αὐτοὶ ποιοῦσιν κατὰ τὰ δικαιώματα αὐτῶν καὶ κατὰ τὴν κρίσιν αὐτῶν καὶ κατὰ τὸν νόμον καὶ κατὰ τὴν ἐντολήν ἣν ἐνετείλατο κύριος τοῖς υἱοῖς Ιακωβ οὗ ἔθηκεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ισραηλ
Usque in praesentem diem morem sequuntur antiquum : non timent Dominum, neque custodiunt caeremonias ejus, judicia, et legem, et mandatum, quod praeceperat Dominus filiis Jacob, quem cognominavit Israël :
ወይፈርህዎ፡ እሙንቱ፡ ወለሊሆሙ፡ ይገብሩ፡ በሕጎሙ፡ ዘያለምዱ፡ ወበሕገ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወበትእዛዙ፡ ዘአዘዞሙ፡ ለደቂቀ፡ ያዕቆብ፡ ወሰመዮ፡ ስሞ፡ እስራኤል።
To this day they do what they did before. They don’t fear Yahweh, and they do not follow the statutes, or the ordinances, or the law, or the commandment which Yahweh commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
17:35
וַיִּכְרֹ֨ת יְהֹוָ֤ה אִתָּם֙ בְּרִ֔ית וַיְצַוֵּ֣ם לֵאמֹ֔ר לֹ֥א תִֽירְא֖וּ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֑ים וְלֹא־תִשְׁתַּחֲו֣וּ לָהֶ֔ם וְלֹ֣א תַעַבְד֔וּם וְלֹ֥א תִזְבְּח֖וּ לָהֶֽם׃
καὶ διέθετο κύριος μετ’ αὐτῶν διαθήκην καὶ ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς λέγων οὐ φοβηθήσεσθε θεοὺς ἑτέρους καὶ οὐ προσκυνήσετε αὐτοῖς καὶ οὐ λατρεύσετε αὐτοῖς καὶ οὐ θυσιάσετε αὐτοῖς
et percusserat cum eis pactum, et mandaverat eis, dicens : Nolite timere deos alienos, et non adoretis eos, neque colatis eos, et non immoletis eis :
ወተካየደ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ኪዳነ፡ ምስሌሆሙ፡ ወአዘዞሙ፡ ወይቤሎሙ፡ ኢትፍርሁ፡ ባዕደ፡ አማልክተ፡ ወኢትስግዱ፡ ሎሙ፡ ወኢታምልክዎሙ፡ ወኢትሡቡ፡ ሎሙ።
with whom Yahweh had made a covenant and commanded them, saying, “You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them;
17:36
כִּ֣י אִֽם־אֶת־יְהֹוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁר֩ הֶעֱלָ֨ה אֶתְכֶ֜ם מֵאֶ֧רֶץ מִצְרַ֛יִם בְּכֹ֧חַ גָּד֛וֹל וּבִזְר֥וֹעַ נְטוּיָ֖ה אֹת֣וֹ תִירָ֑אוּ וְל֥וֹ תִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּ וְל֥וֹ תִזְבָּֽחוּ׃
ὅτι ἀλλ’ ἢ τῷ κυρίῳ ὃς ἀνήγαγεν ὑμᾶς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου ἐν ἰσχύι μεγάλῃ καὶ ἐν βραχίονι ὑψηλῷ αὐτὸν φοβηθήσεσθε καὶ αὐτῷ προσκυνήσετε καὶ αὐτῷ θύσετε
sed Dominum Deum vestrum, qui eduxit vos de terra Aegypti in fortitudine magna et in brachio extento, ipsum timete, et illum adorate, et ipsi immolate.
ዘእንበለ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ዘአውፅአክሙ፡ እምድረ፡ ግብጽ፡ በዐቢይ፡ ኀይል፡ ወበመዝራዕቱ፡ ልዑል፡ ሎቱ፡ ፍርህዎ፡ ወሎቱ፡ ስግዱ፡ ወሎቱ፡ ሡዑ።
but you shall fear Yahweh, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm, and you shall bow yourselves to him, and you shall sacrifice to him.
17:37
וְאֶת־הַחֻקִּ֨ים וְאֶת־הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֜ים וְהַתּוֹרָ֤ה וְהַמִּצְוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּתַ֣ב לָכֶ֔ם תִּשְׁמְר֥וּן לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת כׇּל־הַיָּמִ֑ים וְלֹ֥א תִֽירְא֖וּ אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִֽים׃
καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα καὶ τὰ κρίματα καὶ τὸν νόμον καὶ τὰς ἐντολάς ἃς ἔγραψεν ὑμῖν φυλάσσεσθε ποιεῖν πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας καὶ οὐ φοβηθήσεσθε θεοὺς ἑτέρους
Caeremonias quoque, et judicia, et legem, et mandatum, quod scripsit vobis, custodite ut faciatis cunctis diebus : et non timeatis deos alienos.
ወዕቀቡ፡ ኵሎ፡ ኵነኔሁ፡ ወሕጎ፡ ወትእዛዞ፡ ዘጸሐፈ፡ ለክሙ፡ ከመ፡ ትግበርዎ፡ ኵሎ፡ መዋዕሊክሙ፡ ወኢትፍርሁ፡ ባዕደ፡ አማልክተ።
The statutes and the ordinances, and the law and the commandment which he wrote for you, you shall observe to do forever more. You shall not fear other gods.
17:38
וְהַבְּרִ֛ית אֲשֶׁר־כָּרַ֥תִּי אִתְּכֶ֖ם לֹ֣א תִשְׁכָּ֑חוּ וְלֹ֥א תִֽירְא֖וּ אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִֽים׃
καὶ τὴν διαθήκην ἣν διέθετο μεθ’ ὑμῶν οὐκ ἐπιλήσεσθε καὶ οὐ φοβηθήσεσθε θεοὺς ἑτέρους
Et pactum quod percussit vobiscum, nolite oblivisci : nec colatis deos alienos,
ወኢትርስዑ፡ ኪዳነ፡ ዘተካየደክሙ፡ ወኢትፍርሁ፡ ባዕደ፡ አማልክተ።
You shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you. You shall not fear other gods.
17:39
כִּ֛י אִֽם־אֶת־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם תִּירָ֑אוּ וְהוּא֙ יַצִּ֣יל אֶתְכֶ֔ם מִיַּ֖ד כׇּל־אֹיְבֵיכֶֽם׃
ὅτι ἀλλ’ ἢ τὸν κύριον θεὸν ὑμῶν φοβηθήσεσθε καὶ αὐτὸς ἐξελεῖται ὑμᾶς ἐκ πάντων τῶν ἐχθρῶν ὑμῶν
sed Dominum Deum vestrum timete, et ipse eruet vos de manu omnium inimicorum vestrorum.
ዘእንበለ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክክሙ፡ ኪያሁ፡ ፍርህዎ፡ ወውእቱ፡ ያድኅነክሙ፡ እምነ፡ ኵሉ፡ ፀርክሙ።
But you shall fear Yahweh your God, and he will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.”
17:40
וְלֹ֖א שָׁמֵ֑עוּ כִּ֛י אִֽם־כְּמִשְׁפָּטָ֥ם הָֽרִאשׁ֖וֹן הֵ֥ם עֹשִֽׂים׃
καὶ οὐκ ἀκούσεσθε ἐπὶ τῷ κρίματι αὐτῶν ὃ αὐτοὶ ποιοῦσιν
Illi vero non audierunt, sed juxta consuetudinem suam pristinam perpetrabant.
ወኢታፅምእዎሙ፡ ሕጎሙ፡ ዘከመ፡ ይገብሩ፡ እሙንቱ።
However they didn’t listen, but they did what they did before.
17:41
וַיִּהְי֣וּ׀ הַגּוֹיִ֣ם הָאֵ֗לֶּה יְרֵאִים֙ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֔ה וְאֶת־פְּסִֽילֵיהֶ֖ם הָי֣וּ עֹֽבְדִ֑ים גַּם־בְּנֵיהֶ֣ם׀ וּבְנֵ֣י בְנֵיהֶ֗ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשׂ֤וּ אֲבֹתָם֙ הֵ֣ם עֹשִׂ֔ים עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃ {פ}
καὶ ἦσαν τὰ ἔθνη ταῦτα φοβούμενοι τὸν κύριον καὶ τοῖς γλυπτοῖς αὐτῶν ἦσαν δουλεύοντες καί γε οἱ υἱοὶ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν υἱῶν αὐτῶν καθὰ ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτῶν ποιοῦσιν ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης
Fuerunt igitur gentes istae timentes quidem Dominum, sed nihilominus et idolis suis servientes : nam et filii eorum, et nepotes, sicut fecerunt patres sui, ita faciunt usque in praesentem diem.
ወነበሩ፡ እሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ እንዘ፡ ይፈርህዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወለአማልክቲሆሙ፡ ይትቀነዩ፡ ወውሉዶሙኒ፡ ወውሉደ፡ ውሉዶሙኒ፡ በከመ፡ ገብሩ፡ አበዊሆሙ፡ ገብሩ፡ እሙንቱ፡ እስከ፡ ዮም።
So these nations feared Yahweh, and also served their engraved images. Their children did likewise, and so did their children’s children. They do as their fathers did to this day.
