20:1
וּבֶן־הֲדַ֣ד מֶלֶךְ־אֲרָ֗ם קָבַץ֙ אֶת־כׇּל־חֵיל֔וֹ וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים וּשְׁנַ֥יִם מֶ֛לֶךְ אִתּ֖וֹ וְס֣וּס וָרָ֑כֶב וַיַּ֗עַל וַיָּ֙צַר֙ עַל־שֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן וַיִּלָּ֖חֶם בָּֽהּ׃
καὶ ἀμπελὼν εἷς ἦν τῷ Ναβουθαι τῷ Ιεζραηλίτῃ παρὰ τῷ ἅλῳ Αχααβ βασιλέως Σαμαρείας
Porro Benadad rex Syriae congregavit omnem exercitum suum, et triginta duos reges secum, et equos, et currus : et ascendens pugnabat contra Samariam, et obsidebat eam.
ወአስተጋብአ፡ ወልደ፡ አዴር፡ ኵሎ፡ ኀይሎ፡ ወዐርገ፡ ወዐገታ፡ ለሰማርያ፡ ወነበረ፡ ይሰቀቦሙ፡ ወሀለዉ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ፴ወ፪ነገሥት፡ ወኵሉ፡ አፍራሲሆሙ፡ ወሰረገላቲሆሙ፡ ወዐርጉ፡ ወዐገትዋ፡ ለሰማርያ፡ ወቀተልዋ።
Ben Hadad the king of Syria gathered all his army together; and there were thirty-two kings with him, with horses and chariots. He went up and besieged Samaria, and fought against it.
20:2
וַיִּשְׁלַ֧ח מַלְאָכִ֛ים אֶל־אַחְאָ֥ב מֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל הָעִֽירָה׃
καὶ ἐλάλησεν Αχααβ πρὸς Ναβουθαι λέγων δός μοι τὸν ἀμπελῶνά σου καὶ ἔσται μοι εἰς κῆπον λαχάνων ὅτι ἐγγίων οὗτος τῷ οἴκῳ μου καὶ δώσω σοι ἀμπελῶνα ἄλλον ἀγαθὸν ὑπὲρ αὐτόν εἰ δὲ ἀρέσκει ἐνώπιόν σου δώσω σοι ἀργύριον ἀντάλλαγμα τοῦ ἀμπελῶνός σου τούτου καὶ ἔσται μοι εἰς κῆπον λαχάνων
Mittensque nuntios ad Achab regem Israël in civitatem,
ወለአከ፡ ሐዋርያተ፡ ኀበ፡ አካአብ፡ ንጉሠ፡ እስራኤል፡ እንዘ፡ ይብል፡ ከመዝአ፡ ይቤ፡ ወልደ፡ አዴርአ ፤
He sent messengers into the city to Ahab king of Israel and said to him, “Ben Hadad says,
20:3
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר בֶּן־הֲדַ֔ד כַּסְפְּךָ֥ וּֽזְהָבְךָ֖ לִי־ה֑וּא וְנָשֶׁ֧יךָ וּבָנֶ֛יךָ הַטּוֹבִ֖ים לִי־הֵֽם׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ναβουθαι πρὸς Αχααβ μή μοι γένοιτο παρὰ θεοῦ μου δοῦναι κληρονομίαν πατέρων μου σοί
ait : Haec dicit Benadad : Argentum tuum, et aurum tuum meum est : et uxores tuae, et filii tui optimi, mei sunt.
ወርቅከኒአ፡ ወብሩርከኒአ፡ ዚአየአ፡ ውእቱአ፡ ወአንስቲያከኒአ፡ ወውሉድከኒ፡ ዚአየአ፡ ውእቱአ።
‘Your silver and your gold are mine. Your wives also and your children, even the best, are mine.’”
20:4
וַיַּ֤עַן מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַיֹּ֔אמֶר כִּדְבָרְךָ֖ אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ לְךָ֥ אֲנִ֖י וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־לִֽי׃
καὶ ἐγένετο τὸ πνεῦμα Αχααβ τεταραγμένον καὶ ἐκοιμήθη ἐπὶ τῆς κλίνης αὐτοῦ καὶ συνεκάλυψεν τὸ πρώσωπον αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔφαγεν ἄρτον
Responditque rex Israël : Juxta verbum tuum, domine mi rex, tuus sum ego, et omnia mea.
ወአውሥአ፡ አካአብ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ በከመ፡ ትቤአ፡ እግዚኦ፡ ንጉሥአ፡ አነኒአ፡ ዚአከአ፡ ወኵሉአ፡ ዘዚአየአ፡ ዚአከአ፡ ውእቱአ።
The king of Israel answered, “It is according to your saying, my lord, O king. I am yours, and all that I have.”
20:5
וַיָּשֻׁ֙בוּ֙ הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ כֹּה־אָמַ֥ר בֶּן־הֲדַ֖ד לֵאמֹ֑ר כִּֽי־שָׁלַ֤חְתִּי אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר כַּסְפְּךָ֧ וּֽזְהָבְךָ֛ וְנָשֶׁ֥יךָ וּבָנֶ֖יךָ לִ֥י תִתֵּֽן׃
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Ιεζαβελ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτόν τί τὸ πνεῦμά σου τεταραγμένον καὶ οὐκ εἶ σὺ ἐσθίων ἄρτον
Revertentesque nuntii, dixerunt : Haec dicit Benadad, qui misit nos ad te : Argentum tuum, et aurum tuum, et uxores tuas, et filios tuos, dabis mihi.
ወደገመ፡ ልኢከ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ ወመጽኡ፡ ሐዋርያቲሁ፡ ወይቤልዎ፡ ለአካአብ፡ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ ወልደ፡ አዴር፡ ናሁአ፡ ለአኩአ፡ ኀቤከአ፡ አነ፡ ፈኑ፡ ሊተ፡ ወርቀከ፡ ወብሩረከ፡ ወአንስቲያከኒ።
The messengers came again and said, “Ben Hadad says, ‘I sent indeed to you, saying, “You shall deliver me your silver, your gold, your wives, and your children;
20:6
כִּ֣י׀ אִם־כָּעֵ֣ת מָחָ֗ר אֶשְׁלַ֤ח אֶת־עֲבָדַי֙ אֵלֶ֔יךָ וְחִפְּשׂוּ֙ אֶת־בֵּ֣יתְךָ֔ וְאֵ֖ת בָּתֵּ֣י עֲבָדֶ֑יךָ וְהָיָה֙ כׇּל־מַחְמַ֣ד עֵינֶ֔יךָ יָשִׂ֥ימוּ בְיָדָ֖ם וְלָקָֽחוּ׃
καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτήν ὅτι ἐλάλησα πρὸς Ναβουθαι τὸν Ιεζραηλίτην λέγων δός μοι τὸν ἀμπελῶνά σου ἀργυρίου εἰ δὲ βούλει δώσω σοι ἀμπελῶνα ἄλλον ἀντ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν οὐ δώσω σοι κληρονομίαν πατέρων μου
Cras igitur hac eadem hora mittam servos meos ad te, et scrutabuntur domum tuam, et domum servorum tuorum : et omne quod eis placuerit, ponent in manibus suis, et auferent.
ወእመአኮ፡ ጌሰም፡ ዘጊዜ፡ እፌኑ፡ ደቅየ፡ ወይፈትኑ፡ ዜተከ፡ ወቤተ፡ ደቂቅከ፡ ወኵሎ፡ ዘአፍተዎሙ፡ ወዘአደሞሙ፡ ለዐይኖሙ፡ ወኵሎ፡ ዘገሰሱ፡ በእደዊሆሙአ፡ ይነሥኡአ።
but I will send my servants to you tomorrow about this time, and they will search your house and the houses of your servants. Whatever is pleasant in your eyes, they will put it in their hand, and take it away.”’”
20:7
וַיִּקְרָ֤א מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לְכׇל־זִקְנֵ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ דְּעוּ־נָ֣א וּרְא֔וּ כִּ֥י רָעָ֖ה זֶ֣ה מְבַקֵּ֑שׁ כִּֽי־שָׁלַ֨ח אֵלַ֜י לְנָשַׁ֤י וּלְבָנַי֙ וּלְכַסְפִּ֣י וְלִזְהָבִ֔י וְלֹ֥א מָנַ֖עְתִּי מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃
καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Ιεζαβελ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ σὺ νῦν οὕτως ποιεῖς βασιλέα ἐπὶ Ισραηλ ἀνάστηθι φάγε ἄρτον καὶ σαυτοῦ γενοῦ ἐγὼ δώσω σοι τὸν ἀμπελῶνα Ναβουθαι τοῦ Ιεζραηλίτου
Vocavit autem rex Israël omnes seniores terrae, et ait : Animadvertite, et videte quoniam insidietur nobis : misit enim ad me pro uxoribus meis, et filiis, et pro argento et auro : et non abnui.
ወጸውዖሙ፡ ንጉሠ፡ እስራኤል፡ ለኵሉ፡ ረባናት፡ ወይቤሎሙ፡ ርእዩ፡ ከመ፡ እኪተ፡ የኀሥሥ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ለአከ፡ ኀቤየ፡ በእንተ፡ አንስቲያየ፡ ወበእንተ፡ ደቂቅየ፡ ወበእንተ፡ አዋልድየ ፤ ወወርቅየሰ፡ ወብሩርየ፡ ኢከላእክዎ።
Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, “Please notice how this man seeks mischief; for he sent to me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I didn’t deny him.”
20:8
וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ אֵלָ֛יו כׇּל־הַזְּקֵנִ֖ים וְכׇל־הָעָ֑ם אַל־תִּשְׁמַ֖ע וְל֥וֹא תֹאבֶֽה׃
καὶ ἔγραψεν βιβλίον ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι Αχααβ καὶ ἐσφραγίσατο τῇ σφραγῖδι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπέστειλεν τὸ βιβλίον πρὸς τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους καὶ τοὺς ἐλευθέρους τοὺς κατοικοῦντας μετὰ Ναβουθαι
Dixeruntque omnes majores natu, et universus populus, ad eum : Non audias, neque acquiescas illi.
ወይቤልዎ፡ ረባናት፡ ወኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ እንብከ፡ ኢትበሎ፡ አሆ።
All the elders and all the people said to him, “Don’t listen, and don’t consent.”
20:9
וַיֹּ֜אמֶר לְמַלְאֲכֵ֣י בֶן־הֲדַ֗ד אִמְר֞וּ לַאדֹנִ֤י הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ כֹּל֩ אֲשֶׁר־שָׁלַ֨חְתָּ אֶל־עַבְדְּךָ֤ בָרִֽאשֹׁנָה֙ אֶעֱשֶׂ֔ה וְהַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה לֹ֥א אוּכַ֖ל לַעֲשׂ֑וֹת וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙ הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים וַיְשִׁבֻ֖הוּ דָּבָֽר׃
καὶ ἐγέγραπτο ἐν τοῖς βιβλίοις λέγων νηστεύσατε νηστείαν καὶ καθίσατε τὸν Ναβουθαι ἐν ἀρχῇ τοῦ λαοῦ
Respondit itaque nuntiis Benadad : Dicite domino meo regi : Omnia propter quae misisti ad me servum tuum in initio, faciam : hanc autem rem facere non possum.
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ለሐዋርያቲሁ፡ ለወልደ፡ አዴር፡ በልዎ፡ ለእግዚእክሙ፡ ኵሎአ፡ ዘለአከአ፡ ኀበ፡ ገብርከ፡ ቀዲሙ፡ እገብር፧ወዘንተሰ፡ ነገርአ፡ ኢይክልአ፡ ገቢርአ፡ ወሖሩ፡ እሙንቱ፡ ሐዋርያት፡ ወነገርዎ፡ ዘንተ፡ ቃለ።
Therefore he said to the messengers of Ben Hadad, “Tell my lord the king, ‘All that you sent for to your servant at the first I will do, but this thing I cannot do.’” The messengers departed and brought him back the message.
20:10
וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח אֵלָיו֙ בֶּן־הֲדַ֔ד וַיֹּ֕אמֶר כֹּה־יַעֲשׂ֥וּן לִ֛י אֱלֹהִ֖ים וְכֹ֣ה יוֹסִ֑פוּ אִם־יִשְׂפֹּק֙ עֲפַ֣ר שֹׁמְר֔וֹן לִשְׁעָלִ֕ים לְכׇל־הָעָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּרַגְלָֽי׃
καὶ ἐγκαθίσατε δύο ἄνδρας υἱοὺς παρανόμων ἐξ ἐναντίας αὐτοῦ καὶ καταμαρτυρησάτωσαν αὐτοῦ λέγοντες ηὐλόγησεν θεὸν καὶ βασιλέα καὶ ἐξαγαγέτωσαν αὐτὸν καὶ λιθοβολησάτωσαν αὐτόν καὶ ἀποθανέτω
Reversique nuntii retulerunt ei. Qui remisit, et ait : Haec faciant mihi dii, et haec addant, si suffecerit pulvis Samariae pugillis omnis populi qui sequitur me.
ወለአኮሙ፡ ካዕበ፡ ወልደ፡ አዴር፡ ኀቤሁ፡ እንዘ፡ ይብል፡ ከመዝአ፡ ለይረስየኒአ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወከመዝ፡ ለይቅትለኒአ፡ ለእመ፡ ኢኬድዎ፡ ለምድርክሙ፡ ሶርያ፡ ወኵሉ፡ ሕዝብየ፡ ወሠራዊትየ፡ ወእመ፡ ኢረሰይዎአ፡ ማኅደረ፡ ቈናጽልአ።
Ben Hadad sent to him, and said, “The gods do so to me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria will be enough for handfuls for all the people who follow me.”
20:11
וַיַּ֤עַן מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דַּבְּר֔וּ אַל־יִתְהַלֵּ֥ל חֹגֵ֖ר כִּמְפַתֵּֽחַ׃
καὶ ἐποίησαν οἱ ἄνδρες τῆς πόλεως αὐτοῦ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι καὶ οἱ ἐλεύθεροι οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν τῇ πόλει αὐτοῦ καθὰ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς Ιεζαβελ καθὰ γέγραπται ἐν τοῖς βιβλίοις οἷς ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς αὐτούς
Et respondens rex Israël, ait : Dicite ei : Ne glorietur, accinctus aeque ut discinctus.
ወአውሥአ፡ ንጉሠ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ይኩንአ፡ ወኢይትመካሕ፡ ዘሰናምአ፡ ከመአ፡ ርቱዕአ።
The king of Israel answered, “Tell him, ‘Don’t let him who puts on his armor brag like he who takes it off.’”
20:12
וַיְהִ֗י כִּשְׁמֹ֙עַ֙ אֶת־הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה וְה֥וּא שֹׁתֶ֛ה ה֥וּא וְהַמְּלָכִ֖ים בַּסֻּכּ֑וֹת וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֶל־עֲבָדָיו֙ שִׂ֔ימוּ וַיָּשִׂ֖ימוּ עַל־הָעִֽיר׃
ἐκάλεσαν νηστείαν καὶ ἐκάθισαν τὸν Ναβουθαι ἐν ἀρχῇ τοῦ λαοῦ
Factum est autem cum audisset Benadad verbum istud, bibebat ipse et reges in umbraculis : et ait servis suis : Circumdate civitatem. Et circumdederunt eam.
ወእምዝ፡ ሶበ፡ ሰምዐ፡ ዘንተ፡ ቃለ፡ ወሀለወ፡ ውስተ፡ ደብተራሁ፡ ይሰቲ፡ ምስለ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ነገሥት፡ እለ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ወይቤሎሙ፡ ለደቁ፡ ሕጽሩ፡ ሐጹረ፡ ውስተ፡ ሀገር።
When Ben Hadad heard this message as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, he said to his servants, “Prepare to attack!” So they prepared to attack the city.
20:13
וְהִנֵּ֣ה׀ נָבִ֣יא אֶחָ֗ד נִגַּשׁ֮ אֶל־אַחְאָ֣ב מֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה הֲֽרָאִ֔יתָ אֵ֛ת כׇּל־הֶהָמ֥וֹן הַגָּד֖וֹל הַזֶּ֑ה הִנְנִ֨י נֹתְנ֤וֹ בְיָֽדְךָ֙ הַיּ֔וֹם וְיָדַעְתָּ֖ כִּֽי־אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ ἦλθον δύο ἄνδρες υἱοὶ παρανόμων καὶ ἐκάθισαν ἐξ ἐναντίας αὐτοῦ καὶ κατεμαρτύρησαν αὐτοῦ λέγοντες ηὐλόγηκας θεὸν καὶ βασιλέα καὶ ἐξήγαγον αὐτὸν ἔξω τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἐλιθοβόλησαν αὐτὸν λίθοις καὶ ἀπέθανεν
Et ecce propheta unus accedens ad Achab regem Israël, ait ei : Haec dicit Dominus : Certe vidisti omnem multitudinem hanc nimiam ? ecce ego tradam eam in manu tua hodie, ut scias quia ego sum Dominus.
ወመጽአ፡ ፩ነቢይ፡ ኀበ፡ ንጉሠ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ርኢከኑአ፡ ኵሎአ፡ አሕዛብአ፡ ዘንተ፡ ብዙኀ ፤ ናሁ፡ አነ፡ ኣገብኦሙ፡ ዮም፡ ውስተ፡ እዴከ፡ ወታአምር፡ እንከአ፡ ከመአ፡ አነአ፡ ውእቱአ፡ እግዚአብሔርአ።
Behold, a prophet came near to Ahab king of Israel, and said, “Yahweh says, ‘Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand today. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.’”
20:14
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אַחְאָב֙ בְּמִ֔י וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ כֹּה־אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה בְּנַעֲרֵ֖י שָׂרֵ֣י הַמְּדִינ֑וֹת וַיֹּ֛אמֶר מִי־יֶאְסֹ֥ר הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אָֽתָּה׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλαν πρὸς Ιεζαβελ λέγοντες λελιθοβόληται Ναβουθαι καὶ τέθνηκεν
Et ait Achab : Per quem ? Dixitque ei : Haec dicit Dominus : Per pedissequos principum provinciarum. Et ait : Quis incipiet praeliari ? Et ille dixit : Tu.
ወይቤ፡ አካአብ፡ በምንተ፡ ኣአምር፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በደቆሙ፡ ለመላእክቱ፡ አድያም፡ ወይቤሎ፡ አካአብ፡ መኑ፡ ይቀድም፡ ስሒጠ፡ ወመኑ፡ ያስተኣኅዝ፡ ቀትለ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ነቢይ፡ አንተ።
Ahab said, “By whom?” He said, “Yahweh says, ‘By the young men of the princes of the provinces.’” Then he said, “Who shall begin the battle?” He answered, “You.”
20:15
וַיִּפְקֹ֗ד אֶֽת־נַעֲרֵי֙ שָׂרֵ֣י הַמְּדִינ֔וֹת וַיִּהְי֕וּ מָאתַ֖יִם שְׁנַ֣יִם וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֑ים וְאַחֲרֵיהֶ֗ם פָּקַ֧ד אֶת־כׇּל־הָעָ֛ם כׇּל־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שִׁבְעַ֥ת אֲלָפִֽים׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσεν Ιεζαβελ καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Αχααβ ἀνάστα κληρονόμει τὸν ἀμπελῶνα Ναβουθαι τοῦ Ιεζραηλίτου ὃς οὐκ ἔδωκέν σοι ἀργυρίου ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν Ναβουθαι ζῶν ὅτι τέθνηκεν
Recensuit ergo pueros principum provinciarum, et reperit numerum ducentorum triginta duorum : et recensuit post eos populum, omnes filios Israël, septem millia.
ወኍልቆሙ፡ ፪፻ወ፴ወ፪ነገሥት፡ እለ፡ ይረድእዎ።
Then he mustered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty-two. After them, he mustered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand.
20:16
וַיֵּצְא֖וּ בַּֽצׇּהֳרָ֑יִם וּבֶן־הֲדַד֩ שֹׁתֶ֨ה שִׁכּ֜וֹר בַּסֻּכּ֗וֹת ה֧וּא וְהַמְּלָכִ֛ים שְׁלֹשִֽׁים־וּשְׁנַ֥יִם מֶ֖לֶךְ עֹזֵ֥ר אֹתֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσεν Αχααβ ὅτι τέθνηκεν Ναβουθαι ὁ Ιεζραηλίτης καὶ διέρρηξεν τὰ ἱμάτια ἑαυτοῦ καὶ περιεβάλετο σάκκον καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ ταῦτα καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ κατέβη Αχααβ εἰς τὸν ἀμπελῶνα Ναβουθαι τοῦ Ιεζραηλίτου κληρονομῆσαι αὐτόν
Et egressi sunt meridie. Benadad autem bibebat temulentus in umbraculo suo, et reges triginta duo cum eo, qui ad auxilium ejus venerant.

They went out at noon. But Ben Hadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty-two kings who helped him.
20:17
וַיֵּצְא֗וּ נַעֲרֵ֛י שָׂרֵ֥י הַמְּדִינ֖וֹת בָּרִֽאשֹׁנָ֑ה וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח בֶּן־הֲדַ֗ד וַיַּגִּ֤ידוּ לוֹ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אֲנָשִׁ֕ים יָצְא֖וּ מִשֹּׁמְרֽוֹן׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Ηλιου τὸν Θεσβίτην λέγων
Egressi sunt autem pueri principum provinciarum in prima fronte. Misit itaque Benadad : qui nuntiaverunt ei, dicentes : Viri egressi sunt de Samaria.
ወወፅኡ፡ ደቀ፡ መላእክተ፡ አድያም፡ ቀደሙ ፤ ወለአኩ፡ ወነገርዎ፡ ለንጉሠ፡ ሶርያ፡ ወይቤልዎ፡ ናሁአ፡ መጽኡአ፡ ዕደውአ፡ እምነ፡ ሰማርያ።
The young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Ben Hadad sent out, and they told him, saying, “Men are coming out from Samaria.”
20:18
וַיֹּ֛אמֶר אִם־לְשָׁל֥וֹם יָצָ֖אוּ תִּפְשׂ֣וּם חַיִּ֑ים וְאִ֧ם לְמִלְחָמָ֛ה יָצָ֖אוּ חַיִּ֥ים תִּפְשֽׂוּם׃
ἀνάστηθι καὶ κατάβηθι εἰς ἀπαντὴν Αχααβ βασιλέως Ισραηλ τοῦ ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ ἰδοὺ οὗτος ἐν ἀμπελῶνι Ναβουθαι ὅτι καταβέβηκεν ἐκεῖ κληρονομῆσαι αὐτόν
Et ille ait : Sive pro pace veniunt, apprehendite eos vivos : sive ut praelientur, vivos eos capite.
ወዳኅና፡ ቀናገሮሙአ፡ በሰላምአ፡ እንከሰአ፡ ከመአ፡ ሕያዋኒሆሙ፡ የአኀዝዎሙ ፤ ዘይወጽእአ፡ ወኢይትዐወቅአ፡ እምነአ፡ ሀገርአ።
He said, “If they have come out for peace, take them alive; or if they have come out for war, take them alive.”
20:19
וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ יָצְא֣וּ מִן־הָעִ֔יר נַעֲרֵ֖י שָׂרֵ֣י הַמְּדִינ֑וֹת וְהַחַ֖יִל אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃
καὶ λαλήσεις πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγων τάδε λέγει κύριος ὡς σὺ ἐφόνευσας καὶ ἐκληρονόμησας διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος ἐν παντὶ τόπῳ ᾧ ἔλειξαν αἱ ὕες καὶ οἱ κύνες τὸ αἷμα Ναβουθαι ἐκεῖ λείξουσιν οἱ κύνες τὸ αἷμά σου καὶ αἱ πόρναι λούσονται ἐν τῷ αἵματί σου
Egressi sunt ergo pueri principum provinciarum, ac reliquus exercitus sequebatur :
ወእሙንቱሰ፡ ኀለፉ፡ ወድኡ፡ እምነ፡ ሀገር፡ እልክቱ፡ ደቀ፡ መላእክተ፡ አድያም፡ ወሰራዊትሰ፡ ድኅሬሆሙ።
So these went out of the city, the young men of the princes of the provinces, and the army which followed them.
20:20
וַיַּכּוּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ אִישׁ֔וֹ וַיָּנֻ֣סֽוּ אֲרָ֔ם וַֽיִּרְדְּפֵ֖ם יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּמָּלֵ֗ט בֶּן־הֲדַד֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֔ם עַל־ס֖וּס וּפָרָשִֽׁים׃
καὶ εἶπεν Αχααβ πρὸς Ηλιου εἰ εὕρηκάς με ὁ ἐχθρός μου καὶ εἶπεν εὕρηκα διότι μάτην πέπρασαι ποιῆσαι τὸ πονηρὸν ἐνώπιον κυρίου παροργίσαι αὐτόν
et percussit unusquisque virum qui contra se veniebat : fugeruntque Syri, et persecutus est eos Israël. Fugit quoque Benadad rex Syriae in equo cum equitibus suis.
ወቀተሉ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ወደገሙ፡ ቀቲለ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ወእምዝ፡ ጐዩ፡ ሶርያ፡ ወዴገንዎሙ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወአምሰጠ፡ ወልደ፡ አዴር፡ በፈረስ፡ ረዋጺ።
They each killed his man. The Syrians fled, and Israel pursued them. Ben Hadad the king of Syria escaped on a horse with horsemen.
20:21
וַיֵּצֵא֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיַּ֥ךְ אֶת־הַסּ֖וּס וְאֶת־הָרָ֑כֶב וְהִכָּ֥ה בַאֲרָ֖ם מַכָּ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה׃
τάδε λέγει κύριος ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐπάγω ἐπὶ σὲ κακὰ καὶ ἐκκαύσω ὀπίσω σου καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσω τοῦ Αχααβ οὐροῦντα πρὸς τοῖχον καὶ συνεχόμενον καὶ ἐγκαταλελειμμένον ἐν Ισραηλ
Necnon egressus rex Israël percussit equos et currus, et percussit Syriam plaga magna.
ወወፅአ፡ ንጉሠ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወነሥአ፡ ኵሎ፡ አፍራሲሆሙ፡ ወሰረገላቲሆሙ፡ ወቀተሎሙ፡ ዐቢየ፡ ቀትለ፡ ለሶርያ።
The king of Israel went out and struck the horses and chariots, and killed the Syrians with a great slaughter.
20:22
וַיִּגַּ֤שׁ הַנָּבִיא֙ אֶל־מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ לֵ֣ךְ הִתְחַזַּ֔ק וְדַ֥ע וּרְאֵ֖ה אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־תַּעֲשֶׂ֑ה כִּ֚י לִתְשׁוּבַ֣ת הַשָּׁנָ֔ה מֶ֥לֶךְ אֲרָ֖ם עֹלֶ֥ה עָלֶֽיךָ׃ {פ}
καὶ δώσω τὸν οἶκόν σου ὡς τὸν οἶκον Ιεροβοαμ υἱοῦ Ναβατ καὶ ὡς τὸν οἶκον Βαασα υἱοῦ Αχια περὶ τῶν παροργισμάτων ὧν παρώργισας καὶ ἐξήμαρτες τὸν Ισραηλ
Accedens autem propheta ad regem Israël, dixit ei : Vade, et confortare, et scito, et vide quid facias : sequenti enim anno rex Syriae ascendet contra te.
ወመጽአ፡ ነቢይ፡ ኀበ፡ ንጉሠ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወይቤሎ፡ አጽንዕ፡ ርእሰከ፡ ወአእምር፡ ዘከመ፡ ትገብር፡ እስመ፡ ዓመ፡ ዘይመጽእ፡ የዐርግ፡ ላዕሌከ፡ ወልደ፡ አዴር፡ ንጉሠ፡ ሶርያ።
The prophet came near to the king of Israel and said to him, “Go, strengthen yourself, and plan what you must do, for at the return of the year, the king of Syria will come up against you.”
20:23
וְעַבְדֵ֨י מֶלֶךְ־אֲרָ֜ם אָמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֗יו אֱלֹהֵ֤י הָרִים֙ אֱלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ם עַל־כֵּ֖ן חָזְק֣וּ מִמֶּ֑נּוּ וְאוּלָ֗ם נִלָּחֵ֤ם אִתָּם֙ בַּמִּישׁ֔וֹר אִם־לֹ֥א נֶחֱזַ֖ק מֵהֶֽם׃
καὶ τῇ Ιεζαβελ ἐλάλησεν κύριος λέγων οἱ κύνες καταφάγονται αὐτὴν ἐν τῷ προτειχίσματι Ιεζραελ
Servi vero regis Syriae dixerunt ei : Dii montium sunt dii eorum, ideo superaverunt nos : sed melius est ut pugnemus contra eos in campestribus, et obtinebimus eos.
ወይቤቤልዎ፡ ደቁ፡ ለንጉሠ፡ ሶርያ፡ አምላከ፡ አድባር፡ ውእቱ፡ አምላከ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወአኮ፡ አምላከ፡ ቈላት፡ ወበበይነ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ሞኡነ፡ ወእመሰ፡ አፍጠነ፡ ጸቢኦቶሙ፡ ንመውኦሙ።
The servants of the king of Syria said to him, “Their god is a god of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we. But let’s fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than they.
20:24
וְאֶת־הַדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּ֖ה עֲשֵׂ֑ה הָסֵ֤ר הַמְּלָכִים֙ אִ֣ישׁ מִמְּקֹמ֔וֹ וְשִׂ֥ים פַּח֖וֹת תַּחְתֵּיהֶֽם׃
τὸν τεθνηκότα τοῦ Αχααβ ἐν τῇ πόλει φάγονται οἱ κύνες καὶ τὸν τεθνηκότα αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ φάγονται τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ
Tu ergo verbum hoc fac : amove reges singulos ab exercitu tuo, et pone principes pro eis :
ወዘንተ፡ ነገረ፡ ዘንብለከ፡ ግበር ፤ ፈንዎሙ፡ ለእሉ፡ ነገሥት፡ ይእትዉ፡ በሓውርቲሆሙ፡ ወሢም፡ ህየንቴሆሙ፡ መላእክተ፡ ሰራዊት።
Do this thing: take the kings away, every man out of his place, and put captains in their place.
20:25
וְאַתָּ֣ה תִֽמְנֶֽה־לְךָ֣׀חַ֡יִל כַּחַ֩יִל֩ הַנֹּפֵ֨ל מֵאוֹתָ֜ךְ וְס֥וּס כַּסּ֣וּס׀ וְרֶ֣כֶב כָּרֶ֗כֶב וְנִֽלָּחֲמָ֤ה אוֹתָם֙ בַּמִּישׁ֔וֹר אִם־לֹ֥א נֶחֱזַ֖ק מֵהֶ֑ם וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע לְקֹלָ֖ם וַיַּ֥עַשׂ כֵּֽן׃ {פ}
πλὴν ματαίως Αχααβ ὡς ἐπράθη ποιῆσαι τὸ πονηρὸν ἐνώπιον κυρίου ὡς μετέθηκεν αὐτὸν Ιεζαβελ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ
et instaura numerum militum qui ceciderunt de tuis, et equos secundum equos pristinos, et currus secundum currus quos ante habuisti : et pugnabimus contra eos in campestribus, et videbis quod obtinebimus eos. Credidit consilio eorum, et fecit ita.
ወናመጽእ፡ ለከ፡ ካልኣነ፡ ሰራዊተ፡ ህየንቴሆሙ፡ ወሢም፡ ህየንቴሆሙ፡ ተክሎሙ፡ ለእለ፡ ሞቱ፡ ሰራዊትከ፡ ወአፍራስኒ፡ ህየንተ፡ አፍራሲከ፡ ወሰረገላትኒ፡ ህየንተ፡ ሰረገላቲከ፡ ወንጽብኦሙ፡ ፍጡነ፡ ወንመውኦሙ፡ ወሰምዖሙ፡ ወገብሩ፡ ከማሁ።
Muster an army like the army that you have lost, horse for horse and chariot for chariot. We will fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than they are.” He listened to their voice and did so.
20:26
וַֽיְהִי֙ לִתְשׁוּבַ֣ת הַשָּׁנָ֔ה וַיִּפְקֹ֥ד בֶּן־הֲדַ֖ד אֶת־אֲרָ֑ם וַיַּ֣עַל אֲפֵ֔קָה לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה עִם־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
καὶ ἐβδελύχθη σφόδρα πορεύεσθαι ὀπίσω τῶν βδελυγμάτων κατὰ πάντα ἃ ἐποίησεν ὁ Αμορραῖος ὃν ἐξωλέθρευσεν κύριος ἀπὸ προσώπου υἱῶν Ισραηλ
Igitur postquam annus transierat, recensuit Benadad Syros, et ascendit in Aphec ut pugnaret contra Israël.
ወእምዝ፡ በዓመቱ፡ ኈለቆሙ፡ ወልደ፡ አዴር፡ ለኵሉ፡ ሶርያ፡ ወዐርገ፡ ውስተ፡ ኤፌቃ፡ ከመ፡ ይትቃተሎሙ፡ ለእስራኤል።
At the return of the year, Ben Hadad mustered the Syrians and went up to Aphek to fight against Israel.
20:27
וּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל הׇתְפָּקְדוּ֙ וְכׇלְכְּל֔וּ וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ לִקְרָאתָ֑ם וַיַּחֲנ֨וּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל נֶגְדָּ֗ם כִּשְׁנֵי֙ חֲשִׂפֵ֣י עִזִּ֔ים וַאֲרָ֖ם מִלְא֥וּ אֶת־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
καὶ ὑπὲρ τοῦ λόγου ὡς κατενύγη Αχααβ ἀπὸ προσώπου τοῦ κυρίου καὶ ἐπορεύετο κλαίων καὶ διέρρηξεν τὸν χιτῶνα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐζώσατο σάκκον ἐπὶ τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνήστευσεν καὶ περιεβάλετο σάκκον ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ ἐπάταξεν Ναβουθαι τὸν Ιεζραηλίτην
Porro filii Israël recensiti sunt, et acceptis cibariis profecti ex adverso, castraque metati sunt contra eos, quasi duo parvi greges caprarum : Syri autem repleverunt terram.
ወደቂቀ፡ እስራኤልኒ፡ ተንሥኡ፡ ወትቀበልዎሙ፡ ወተዐየኑ፡ እስራኤል፡ አንጻሮሙ፡ ወከኑ፡ በኀቤሆሙ፡ ከመ፡ ፪መራዕየ፡ አጣሊ፡ ወሶርያሰ፡ መልእዋ፡ ለምድር።
The children of Israel were mustered and given provisions, and went against them. The children of Israel encamped before them like two little flocks of young goats, but the Syrians filled the country.
20:28
וַיִּגַּ֞שׁ אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים וַיֹּ֘אמֶר֮ אֶל־מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ וַיֹּ֜אמֶר כֹּֽה־אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה יַ֠עַן אֲשֶׁ֨ר אָמְר֤וּ אֲרָם֙ אֱלֹהֵ֤י הָרִים֙ יְהֹוָ֔ה וְלֹֽא־אֱלֹהֵ֥י עֲמָקִ֖ים ה֑וּא וְ֠נָתַתִּ֠י אֶת־כׇּל־הֶהָמ֨וֹן הַגָּד֤וֹל הַזֶּה֙ בְּיָדֶ֔ךָ וִידַעְתֶּ֖ם כִּֽי־אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ῥῆμα κυρίου ἐν χειρὶ δούλου αὐτοῦ Ηλιου περὶ Αχααβ καὶ εἶπεν κύριος
(Et accedens unus vir Dei, dixit ad regem Israël : Haec dicit Dominus : Quia dixerunt Syri : Deus montium est Dominus, et non est Deus vallium : dabo omnem multitudinem hanc grandem in manu tua, et scietis quia ego sum Dominus.)
ወመጽአ፡ ብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ለንጉሠ፡ እስራኤል፡ እስመ፡ ይቤሉ፡ ሶርያ፡ አምላከ፡ አድባር፡ ውእቱ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላከ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወኢኮነ፡ አምላክ፡ ቈላት፡ ወኣገብኦሙ፡ ለዝንቱ፡ ኀይሎሙ፡ ዐቢይ፡ ውስተ፡ እዴከ፡ ወታአምር፡ ከመ፡ ውእቱ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
A man of God came near and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, “Yahweh says, ‘Because the Syrians have said, “Yahweh is a god of the hills, but he is not a god of the valleys,” therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am Yahweh.’”
20:29
וַֽיַּחֲנ֧וּ אֵ֦לֶּה נֹֽכַח־אֵ֖לֶּה שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים וַיְהִ֣י׀ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י וַתִּקְרַב֙ הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה וַיַּכּ֨וּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֧ל אֶת־אֲרָ֛ם מֵאָה־אֶ֥לֶף רַגְלִ֖י בְּי֥וֹם אֶחָֽד׃
ἑώρακας ὡς κατενύγη Αχααβ ἀπὸ προσώπου μου οὐκ ἐπάξω τὴν κακίαν ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις αὐτοῦ ἀλλ’ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ ἐπάξω τὴν κακίαν
Dirigebantque septem diebus ex adverso hi atque illi acies, septima autem die commissum est bellum : percusseruntque filii Israël de Syris centum millia peditum in die una.
ወተዐየኑ፡ እሉ፡ ቅድመ፡ እልክቱ፡ ሰቡዐ፡ መዋዕለ፡ ወአመ፡ ፯ዕለት፡ ተኣኀዙ፡ ይትቃተሉ፡ ወቀተልዎሙ፡ እስራኤል፡ ለሶርያ፡ ፲፼፡ በአሐቲ፡ ዕለት፡ አጋር።
They encamped opposite each other for seven days. Then on the seventh day the battle was joined; and the children of Israel killed one hundred thousand footmen of the Syrians in one day.
20:30
וַיָּנֻ֨סוּ הַנּוֹתָרִ֥ים׀אֲפֵ֘קָה֮ אֶל־הָעִיר֒ וַתִּפֹּל֙ הַחוֹמָ֔ה עַל־עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְשִׁבְעָ֥ה אֶ֛לֶף אִ֖ישׁ הַנּוֹתָרִ֑ים וּבֶן־הֲדַ֣ד נָ֔ס וַיָּבֹ֥א אֶל־הָעִ֖יר חֶ֥דֶר בְּחָֽדֶר׃
—
Fugerunt autem qui remanserant in Aphec, in civitatem : et cecidit murus super viginti septem millia hominum qui remanserant. Porro Benadad fugiens ingressus est civitatem, in cubiculum quod erat intra cubiculum.
ወጐዩ፡ እለ፡ ተርፉ፡ ውስተ፡ ሀገረ፡ አፌቃ፡ ወበህየ፡ ወድቀ፡ አረፍት፡ ላዕለ፡ ክልኤ፡ ፼ወ፸፻ብእሲ፡ እለ፡ ተርፉ፡ ውስተ፡ ሀገረ፡ አፍቃ፡ ወእምሰጠ፡ ወልደ፡ እዴር፡ ወቦአ፡ ውስተ፡ ውሳጥያተ፡ ጽርሑ።
But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and the wall fell on twenty-seven thousand men who were left. Ben Hadad fled and came into the city, into an inner room.
20:31
וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָיו֮ עֲבָדָיו֒ הִנֵּה־נָ֣א שָׁמַ֔עְנוּ כִּ֗י מַלְכֵי֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּֽי־מַלְכֵ֥י חֶ֖סֶד הֵ֑ם נָשִׂ֣ימָה נָּא֩ שַׂקִּ֨ים בְּמׇתְנֵ֜ינוּ וַחֲבָלִ֣ים בְּרֹאשֵׁ֗נוּ וְנֵצֵא֙ אֶל־מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אוּלַ֖י יְחַיֶּ֥ה אֶת־נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃
—
Dixeruntque ei servi sui : Ecce, audivimus quod reges domus Israël clementes sint : ponamus itaque saccos in lumbis nostris, et funiculos in capitibus nostris, et egrediamur ad regem Israël : forsitan salvabit animas nostras.
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ለደቁ፡ ኣአምር፡ ከመ፡ ነገሥተ፡ እስራኤል፡ ነገሥት፡ መሓርያን፡ እሙንቱ፡ ወንልበስ፡ ሠቀ፡ ወንቅንት፡ ውስተ፡ ሐቌነ፡ ወንትቀጸል፡ አሕባለ፡ ውስተ፡ አርእስቲነ፡ ወንሖር፡ ኀሰ፡ ንጉሠ፡ እስራኤል፡ ዮጊ፡ ያሐይወነ፡ ነፍሰነ።
His servants said to him, “See now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings. Please let us put sackcloth on our bodies and ropes on our heads, and go out to the king of Israel. Maybe he will save your life.”
20:32
וַיַּחְגְּרוּ֩ שַׂקִּ֨ים בְּמׇתְנֵיהֶ֜ם וַחֲבָלִ֣ים בְּרָאשֵׁיהֶ֗ם וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ אֶל־מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ עַבְדְּךָ֧ בֶן־הֲדַ֛ד אָמַ֖ר תְּחִי־נָ֣א נַפְשִׁ֑י וַיֹּ֛אמֶר הַעוֹדֶ֥נּוּ חַ֖י אָחִ֥י הֽוּא׃
—
Accinxerunt saccis lumbos suos, et posuerunt funiculos in capitibus suis, veneruntque ad regem Israël, et dixerunt ei : Servus tuus Benadad dicit : Vivat, oro te, anima mea. Et ille ait : Si adhuc vivit, frater meus est.
ወቀነቱ፡ ሠቀ፡ ውስተ፡ ሐቌሆሙ፡ ወተቀጸሉ፡ አሕባለ፡ ውስተ፡ ርእሶሙ፡ ወይቤልዎ፡ ለንጉሠ፡ እስራኤል፡ ይቤለከ፡ ገብርከ፡ ወልደ፡ አዴር፡ አሕይወነአ፡ ነፍሰነአ፡ ወይቤ፡ ሕያውኑአ፡ ውእቱ፡ እኁየ።
So they put sackcloth on their bodies and ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, “Your servant Ben Hadad says, ‘Please let me live.’” He said, “Is he still alive? He is my brother.”
20:33
וְהָאֲנָשִׁים֩ יְנַחֲשׁ֨וּ וַֽיְמַהֲר֜וּ וַיַּחְלְט֣וּ הֲמִמֶּ֗נּוּ וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ אָחִ֣יךָ בֶן־הֲדַ֔ד וַיֹּ֖אמֶר בֹּ֣אוּ קָחֻ֑הוּ וַיֵּצֵ֤א אֵלָיו֙ בֶּן־הֲדַ֔ד וַֽיַּעֲלֵ֖הוּ עַל־הַמֶּרְכָּבָֽה׃
—
Quod acceperunt viri pro omine : et festinantes rapuerunt verbum ex ore ejus, atque dixerunt : Frater tuus Benadad. Et dixit eis : Ite, et adducite eum ad me. Egressus est ergo ad eum Benadad, et levavit eum in currum suum.
ወአስተቀሰሙ፡ እሙንቱ፡ ዕደው፡ ሶበ፡ ተናገሮሙ፡ ሠናየ፡ ወእምዝ፡ ይቤልዎ፡ መጽአ፡ እኁከ፡ ወልደ፡ አዴር፡ ወይቤሎሙ፡ ባኡ፡ ወአምጽእዎ፡ ወወፅአ፡ ወልደ፡ አዴር፡ ወሖረ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ ወነሥኦ፡ ወአጽዐኖ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ ውስተ፡ ሰረገላቲሁ።
Now the men observed diligently and hurried to take this phrase; and they said, “Your brother Ben Hadad.” Then he said, “Go, bring him.” Then Ben Hadad came out to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.
20:34
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֡יו הֶעָרִ֣ים אֲשֶׁר־לָֽקַח־אָבִי֩ מֵאֵ֨ת אָבִ֜יךָ אָשִׁ֗יב וְ֠חֻצ֠וֹת תָּשִׂ֨ים לְךָ֤ בְדַמֶּ֙שֶׂק֙ כַּֽאֲשֶׁר־שָׂ֤ם אָבִי֙ בְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן וַאֲנִ֖י בַּבְּרִ֣ית אֲשַׁלְּחֶ֑ךָּ וַיִּכְרׇת־ל֥וֹ בְרִ֖ית וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵֽהוּ׃ {ס}
—
Qui dixit ei : Civitates quas tulit pater meus a patre tuo, reddam : et plateas fac tibi in Damasco, sicut fecit pater meus in Samaria, et ego foederatus recedam a te. Pepigit ergo foedus, et dimisit eum.
ወይቤሎ፡ ኣገብእ፡ ለከ፡ አህጉረ፡ እለ፡ ነሥአ፡ አቡየ፡ እምነ፡ አቡከ፡ ወትጉበር፡ ለከ፡ ምኅላፈ፡ እንተ፡ ደማስቆ፡ ከመ፡ ገብረ፡ አቡየ፡ እንተ፡ ሰማርያ፡ ወአነኒ፡ ተማሒልየ፡ እፌንወከ፡ ወእምዝ፡ ተማሐሉ፡ ወፈነዎ።
Ben Hadad said to him, “The cities which my father took from your father I will restore. You shall make streets for yourself in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria.” “I”, said Ahab, “will let you go with this covenant.” So he made a covenant with him and let him go.
20:35
וְאִ֨ישׁ אֶחָ֜ד מִבְּנֵ֣י הַנְּבִיאִ֗ים אָמַ֧ר אֶל־רֵעֵ֛הוּ בִּדְבַ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה הַכֵּ֣ינִי נָ֑א וַיְמָאֵ֥ן הָאִ֖ישׁ לְהַכֹּתֽוֹ׃
—
Tunc vir quidam de filiis prophetarum dixit ad socium suum in sermone Domini : Percute me. At ille noluit percutere.
ወ፩ብእሲ፡ እምውስተ፡ ደቆሙ፡ ለነቢያት፡ ይቤሎ፡ ለካልኡ፡ ቅትለኒ፡ በቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወአበዮ፡ ውእቱ፡ ብእሲ፡ ቀቲሎቶ።
A certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow by Yahweh’s word, “Please strike me!” The man refused to strike him.
20:36
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ יַ֚עַן אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹא־שָׁמַ֙עְתָּ֙ בְּק֣וֹל יְהֹוָ֔ה הִנְּךָ֤ הוֹלֵךְ֙ מֵֽאִתִּ֔י וְהִכְּךָ֖ הָאַרְיֵ֑ה וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ מֵֽאֶצְל֔וֹ וַיִּמְצָאֵ֥הוּ הָאַרְיֵ֖ה וַיַּכֵּֽהוּ׃
—
Cui ait : Quia noluisti audire vocem Domini, ecce recedes a me, et percutiet te leo. Cumque paululum recessisset ab eo, invenit eum leo, atque percussit.
ወይቤሎ፡ እስመ፡ አበይከ፡ ሰሚዐ፡ ቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ሶበ፡ ሖርከ፡ እምኀቤየ፡ ይቀትለከ፡ ዐንበሳ፡ ወሖረ፡ እምኀቤሁ፡ ወረከቦ፡ ዐንበሳ፡ ወቀተሎ።
Then he said to him, “Because you have not obeyed Yahweh’s voice, behold, as soon as you have departed from me, a lion will kill you.” As soon as he had departed from him, a lion found him and killed him.
20:37
וַיִּמְצָא֙ אִ֣ישׁ אַחֵ֔ר וַיֹּ֖אמֶר הַכֵּ֣ינִי נָ֑א וַיַּכֵּ֥הוּ הָאִ֖ישׁ הַכֵּ֥ה וּפָצֹֽעַ׃
—
Sed et alterum inveniens virum, dixit ad eum : Percute me. Qui percussit eum, et vulneravit.
ወእምዝ፡ ረከበ፡ ካልአ፡ ብእሴ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ቅትለኒ፡ ወቀተሎ፡ ውእቱ፡ ብእሲ፡ ወእምድኅረ፡ ቀተሎ፡ ቀጥቀጦ።
Then he found another man, and said, “Please strike me.” The man struck him and wounded him.
20:38
וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ הַנָּבִ֔יא וַיַּעֲמֹ֥ד לַמֶּ֖לֶךְ עַל־הַדָּ֑רֶךְ וַיִּתְחַפֵּ֥שׂ בָּאֲפֵ֖ר עַל־עֵינָֽיו׃
—
Abiit ergo propheta, et occurrit regi in via, et mutavit aspersione pulveris os et oculos suos.
ወሖረ፡ ፩ነቢይ፡ ኀበ፡ ንጉሠ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወቆመ፡ ውስተ፡ ፍኖት፡ ወአሰረ፡ ተሌሳ፡ ውስተ፡ አዕይንቲሁ።
So the prophet departed and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with his headband over his eyes.
20:39
וַיְהִ֤י הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ עֹבֵ֔ר וְה֖וּא צָעַ֣ק אֶל־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיֹּ֜אמֶר עַבְדְּךָ֣׀ יָצָ֣א בְקֶרֶב־הַמִּלְחָמָ֗ה וְהִנֵּֽה־אִ֨ישׁ סָ֜ר וַיָּבֵ֧א אֵלַ֣י אִ֗ישׁ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ שְׁמֹר֙ אֶת־הָאִ֣ישׁ הַזֶּ֔ה אִם־הִפָּקֵד֙ יִפָּקֵ֔ד וְהָיְתָ֤ה נַפְשְׁךָ֙ תַּ֣חַת נַפְשׁ֔וֹ א֥וֹ כִכַּר־כֶּ֖סֶף תִּשְׁקֽוֹל׃
—
Cumque rex transisset, clamavit ad regem, et ait : Servus tuus egressus est ad praeliandum cominus : cumque fugisset vir unus, adduxit eum quidam ad me, et ait : Custodi virum istum : qui si lapsus fuerit, erit anima tua pro anima ejus, aut talentum argenti appendes.
ወእንዘ፡ የኀልፍ፡ ጸርኀ፡ ሎቱ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ጸብአ፡ ገብርከ፡ ምስለ፡ ሰራዊት፡ ጻባኢት፡ ወመጽአ፡ ፩ብእሲ፡ ኀቤየ፡ ወአምጽአ፡ ሊተ፡ ብእሴ፡ ወይቤለኒ፡ ዕቀቦ፡ ለዝንቱ፡ ብእሲ፡ ወእመሰ፡ ተኀጥአከ፡ ወአምሰጠከ፡ ነፍስከ፡ ህየንተ፡ ነፍሱ፡ ወእመ፡ አኮ፡ መክሊተ፡ ብሩር፡ ታደሉ፡ ሊተ።
As the king passed by, he cried to the king, and he said, “Your servant went out into the middle of the battle; and behold, a man came over and brought a man to me, and said, ‘Guard this man! If by any means he is missing, then your life shall be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.’
20:40
וַיְהִ֣י עַבְדְּךָ֗ עֹשֵׂ֥ה הֵ֛נָּה וָהֵ֖נָּה וְה֣וּא אֵינֶ֑נּוּ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֧יו מֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל כֵּ֥ן מִשְׁפָּטֶ֖ךָ אַתָּ֥ה חָרָֽצְתָּ׃
—
Dum autem ego turbatus huc illucque me verterem, subito non comparuit. Et ait rex Israël ad eum : Hoc est judicium tuum, quod ipse decrevisti.
ወእምዝ፡ እስከ፡ እትመየጥ፡ ለፌ፡ ወከሐከ፡ ኀጣእክዎ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ንጉሠ፡ እስራኤል፡ ለሊከ፡ ቀተልኮ፡ ወናሁ፡ ትትዐወቅ፡ ከመ፡ ፈያት፡ አንተ።
As your servant was busy here and there, he was gone.” The king of Israel said to him, “So shall your judgment be. You yourself have decided it.”
20:41
וַיְמַהֵ֕ר וַיָּ֙סַר֙ אֶת־הָ֣אֲפֵ֔ר (מעל) [מֵעֲלֵ֖י] עֵינָ֑יו וַיַּכֵּ֤ר אֹתוֹ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּ֥י מֵהַנְּבִיאִ֖ים הֽוּא׃
—
At ille statim abstersit pulverem de facie sua, et cognovit eum rex Israël, quod esset de prophetis.
ወበጊዜሃ፡ አሰሰለ፡ ተቤሳ፡ እምዲበ፡ አዕይንቲሁ፡ ወአእመሮ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ከመ፡ እምውስተ፡ ነቢያት፡ ውእቱ።
He hurried, and took the headband away from his eyes; and the king of Israel recognized that he was one of the prophets.
20:42
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗יו כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה יַ֛עַן שִׁלַּ֥חְתָּ אֶת־אִישׁ־חֶרְמִ֖י מִיָּ֑ד וְהָיְתָ֤ה נַפְשְׁךָ֙ תַּ֣חַת נַפְשׁ֔וֹ וְעַמְּךָ֖ תַּ֥חַת עַמּֽוֹ׃
—
Qui ait ad eum : Haec dicit Dominus : Quia dimisisti virum dignum morte de manu tua, erit anima tua pro anima ejus, et populus tuus pro populo ejus.
ወይቤሎ፡ ውእቱ፡ ነቢይ፡ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እስመ፡ አውፃእከ፡ ብእሴ፡ ትሤሮአ፡ ነፍስከአ፡ ትኩንአ፡ ህየንተአ፡ ነፍሱአ፡ ወሕዝብከአ፡ ህየንተኣ፡ ሕዝቡ።
He said to him, “Yahweh says, ‘Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life will take the place of his life, and your people take the place of his people.’”
20:43
וַיֵּ֧לֶךְ מֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל עַל־בֵּית֖וֹ סַ֣ר וְזָעֵ֑ף וַיָּבֹ֖א שֹׁמְרֽוֹנָה׃ {פ}
—
Reversus est igitur rex Israël in domum suam, audire contemnens, et furibundus venit in Samariam.
ወሖረ፡ ንጉሠ፡ እስራኤል፡ ሕዙኑ፡ ወትኩዙ።
The king of Israel went to his house sullen and angry, and came to Samaria.
