'Today, most beloved brethren, let us with all our efforts and a devout mind celebrate the anniversary festivity of the consecration of this holy church,' etc. It ends: 'And let us rejoice at so great a festivity, that we may be found worthy to be sharers in the heavens,' etc. In our appendix we placed it among the spurious writings of Saint Maximus, column 78, since the whole cast of that oration differs by a whole heaven from the phrasing and ornament of speech of the holy prelate of Turin. Just as, therefore, we regarded the testimony of the Vatican codex Reginensis 539 as nothing, so neither does the authority of the Paris codex 3822 recall us from the same opinion.

'Whoever, sighing after the saving precepts of God, shall have striven to bring low the pride of his swollen mind—hateful to all—will be able to conquer the devil, the Lord himself giving support,' etc. It ends: 'The loving-kindness of the Almighty is offended; to flee, through the love of the true God,' etc.
