He who sins in no way at all — this one would be both blameless and blessed.
1:6263⧉ ⤴︎
Blessed are they who search out his testimonies; they shall seek him with the whole heart.
1:6264⧉ ⤴︎
For one ought not to keep the law rightly at one time, and become a transgressor at another.
1:6265⧉ ⤴︎
For what profit is there in simply searching out his testimonies, yet not seeking God with the whole heart? For 'they that work iniquity have not walked in his ways.'
1:6266⧉ ⤴︎
所以,犯罪的人其實並不認識神聖的律法;
Therefore the one who sins does not truly know the divine law;
1:6267⧉ ⤴︎
for to know it is to practice it.
1:6268⧉ ⤴︎
You have commanded that your commandments be kept diligently.
1:6269⧉ ⤴︎
Would that my ways were directed to keep your statutes!
1:6270⧉ ⤴︎
他知道,若沒有從上而來的幫助,無人能謹守律法,於是他藉著禱告為自己求得此事;
Knowing that without help from above it is impossible for anyone to become a keeper of the law, he secures this for himself by prayer;
1:6271⧉ ⤴︎
The word 'would that' is used in place of 'may it come to pass.'
1:6272⧉ ⤴︎
I will give thanks to you in uprightness of heart.

After the prayer, he also sets down what proceeds from his own resolve.
1:6274⧉ ⤴︎
For the beginning of salvation is confession.
1:6275⧉ ⤴︎
Do not forsake me utterly.
1:6276⧉ ⤴︎
Again he calls upon the help that comes from above.
1:6277⧉ ⤴︎
By what shall a young man direct his way? For, he says, youth is full of many stumbling-blocks.
1:6278⧉ ⤴︎
How, then, does one overcome these things, if not by keeping the words of God always in memory? For the contemplation of the divine law is altogether both purifying and protective.
1:6279⧉ ⤴︎
With my whole heart I have sought you out.
1:6280⧉ ⤴︎
他說,倘若記念神能使人脫離撒但的網羅,那麼我已將自己整個的心思都獻給了你——我的神;
If, he says, the remembrance of God prepares one to escape the snares of Satan, then I have devoted the whole of my own mind to you, God;
1:6281⧉ ⤴︎
I am worthy not to remain outside your commandments.
1:6282⧉ ⤴︎
他這話——免得有人因我們接下來要說的而心生絕望——是指:那些僅憑對律法的熱切之心而行、卻缺乏悟性的人,便陷入了愚昧;
Now what he says here — lest it become for anyone an occasion of despair with regard to what we are about to say — is this: those who pursue the law merely out of eager desire, without understanding, fall into senselessness;
1:6283⧉ ⤴︎
or, for many, it turns their zeal into its very opposite, so that in the very things wherein they think they are succeeding, they have actually failed — according to what is said by Solomon:
1:6284⧉ ⤴︎
有一條路,人以為是正的;
There is a way which seems right to men;
1:6285⧉ ⤴︎
but its end comes to the depths of Hades.
1:6286⧉ ⤴︎
Therefore, whoever seeks God with only half a heart, wishing now to devote himself to God, now to the world, this one He casts out from His own commandments, as an unworthy soldier.
1:6287⧉ ⤴︎
In my heart I have hidden your sayings.
1:6288⧉ ⤴︎
For unless one locks up the commandments of God within the heart as within a treasury, the evildoer comes and snatches them away.
1:6289⧉ ⤴︎
He sins against God who, having been deemed worthy of more secret sayings — sayings worthy of being hidden from the multitude — does not hide them from those from whom they ought to be hidden.
1:6290⧉ ⤴︎
因為危險不僅在於說謊言,也在於說真話——就是當一個人把根本不該說出的事全盤說出之時;
For the danger lies not only in speaking falsehoods, but also in speaking truths, whenever one declares altogether things that ought not to be told;
1:6291⧉ ⤴︎
For pearls ought not to be cast before swine, nor should holy things be given to dogs.
1:6292⧉ ⤴︎

他察覺到自己因盡心尋求神而有的長進,便稱頌神,為自己已蒙的恩典獻上感謝;
Perceiving his own advancement, which came from seeking God with his whole heart, he blesses Him, giving thanks already for what he has been deemed worthy to receive;
1:6294⧉ ⤴︎
and from Him he seeks to learn what meaning His statutes hold.
1:6295⧉ ⤴︎

In the way of your testimonies I delighted, as in all riches.
1:6299⧉ ⤴︎
他教導我們,甚麼才是照神而言的真財富;
He teaches us what wealth according to God truly is;
1:6300⧉ ⤴︎
在今生,沒有任何事物能擄獲我——無論是金錢、官位,還是權勢;
Nothing in the present life has captivated me — not gold, not rank, not power;
1:6301⧉ ⤴︎
But instead of all things, your testimonies are to me gladness and wealth.
1:6302⧉ ⤴︎

1:6305⧉ ⤴︎
but it makes the one who has understood them put them into practice.
1:6306⧉ ⤴︎
For it is not the hearers of God's ordinances who are righteous before God, but the doers of them.
1:6307⧉ ⤴︎
For in this way one will never forget them.

And what does he wish to be given him in return for what he has offered, but that his mind be enlightened, that he may know the wonderful works of God? 'Open my eyes, and I will understand the wonders of your law.'

Vanity is the madness for spectacles, the beholding of things not fitting, and also the improper fantasy of the mind, which Paul also makes clear, saying:
1:6343⧉ ⤴︎

Observe that 'vanity of mind' is spoken of whenever one has a mind, and does not use it for the contemplation of true things, but hands it over to Satan who binds it.

And the words 'Remove my reproach' come after he has set [the word] as, so to speak, a guardian of the divine laws.
1:6352⧉ ⤴︎
