78:276⧉ ⤴︎
Αἱ εὐχαί σου γὰρ , φησὶ , καὶ αἱ ἐλεημοσύναι σου ἀνέβησαν εἰς μνημόσυνον ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ
For 'thy prayers,' it says, 'and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.'
因為經上說：「你的禱告和你的賙濟，已達到神面前蒙記念了。」
78:277⧉ ⤴︎
Οὐκ εὐχὴ δὲ μόνον , ἀλλὰ καὶ νηστεία ἐντεῦθεν τὰ νεῦρα ἔχει
And not prayer only, but fasting also draws its sinews from this same source.
並且不僅是禱告，就連禁食也是從這同一根源得著它的筋力。

Κἂν νηστεύῃς χωρὶς ἐλεημοσύνης , οὐδὲ νηστεία τὸ πρᾶγμα λογίζεται·
If you fast without almsgiving, the deed is not even reckoned as a fast;
你若禁食而沒有施捨，這件事甚至不算為禁食；

ἀλλὰ γαστριζομένου καὶ μεθύοντος χείρων ὁ τοιοῦτος , καὶ τοσούτῳ χείρων , ὅσῳ τρυφῆς ὠμότης χαλεπώτερον
rather, such a one is worse than the man who stuffs himself and is drunken—and worse by just so much as cruelty is more grievous than self-indulgence.
反倒這樣的人比那飽食醉酒的人更壞——並且壞得正如同殘忍比放縱更為可惡的程度。
78:280⧉ ⤴︎
Καὶ τί λέγω νηστείαν; Κἂν γὰρ σωφρονῇς , κἂν παρθενεύῃς , ἐκτὸς ἕστηκας τοῦ νυμφῶνος , ἐλεημοσύνην οὐκ ἔχων
And why do I speak of fasting? For even if you are chaste, even if you keep your virginity, you stand outside the bridal chamber if you have no mercy.
我又何必單說禁食呢？因為你即使守貞潔，即使守童貞，倘若沒有憐憫的施捨，你仍然要被關在婚筵的門外。
78:281⧉ ⤴︎
Καίτοι τί παρθενίας ἴσον , ὃ μηδὲ ἐν τῇ Καινῇ ὑπὸ νόμου ἦλθεν ἀνάγκην διὰ τὸ ὑπερέχον; ἀλλ' ὅμως ἐκβάλλεται , ὅταν τὴν ἐλεημοσύνην μὴ ἔχῃ
And yet what is equal to virginity, which not even under the New Covenant was brought under the constraint of law, by reason of its surpassing excellence? Nevertheless it is cast out, whenever it lacks mercy.
然而還有甚麼能與童貞相比呢？童貞因其超凡的卓越，即使在新約之下也未被立為律法的強制要求；可是一旦缺乏憐憫，它照樣被逐出去。
78:282⧉ ⤴︎
Εἰ δὲ παρθένοι ἐκβάλλονται , ἐπειδὴ ταύτην οὐκ εἶχον μετὰ δαψιλείας τῆς προσηκούσης , τίς δυνήσεται ταύτης ἄνευ συγγνώμης τυχεῖν; Οὐκ ἔστιν οὐδεὶς , ἀλλ' ἀπολέσθαι πάντως ἀνάγκη τὸν ταύτην οὐκ ἔχοντα
But if virgins are cast out because they did not possess this with the fitting abundance, who will be able to obtain any pardon without it? There is no one; rather, he who has it not must utterly perish.
然而，若童女因未曾以應有的豐盛擁有此德便被逐出，那麼缺乏它的人又怎能得著任何寬赦呢？絕無一人能得，凡沒有憐憫的人必定全然滅亡。
78:283⧉ ⤴︎
Εἰ γὰρ ἐν τοῖς βιωτικοῖς οὐδεὶς ἑαυτῷ ζῇ , ἀλλὰ καὶ χειροτέχνης , καὶ στρατιώτης , καὶ γεωργὸς , καὶ ἔμπορος , πρὸς τὸ κοινῇ συμφέρον καὶ τὸ τῷ πλησίον ὠφέλιμον συντελοῦσιν ἅπαντες·
For if in the affairs of this life no one lives for himself alone, but the craftsman, the soldier, the farmer, and the merchant all contribute toward the common good and the benefit of their neighbour,
因為在今生的事務中，沒有人單為自己而活；工匠、軍人、農夫、商人，人人都為著公共的益處與鄰舍的好處而效力；
78:284⧉ ⤴︎
πολλῷ μᾶλλον ἐπὶ τῶν πνευματικῶν τοῦτο δεῖ ποιεῖν
how much more ought this to be done in things spiritual!
那麼在屬靈的事上，我們豈不更當如此行嗎！
78:285⧉ ⤴︎
Τοῦτο γὰρ μάλιστά ἐστι ζῇν·
For this above all is truly to live;
因為這才最真是活著；
78:286⧉ ⤴︎
ὡς ὅγε ἑαυτῷ ζῶν μόνον , καὶ πάντων ὑπερορῶν , περιττός ἐστι , καὶ οὐδὲ ἄνθρωπος , οὐδὲ τοῦ γένους τοῦ ἡμετέρου
since he who lives for himself alone, and despises all others, is superfluous, and is not even a man, nor of our race.
至於那只為自己而活、藐視眾人的，乃是多餘的，他甚至不算為人，也不屬於我們的族類。
78:287⧉ ⤴︎
Τί οὖν , φησὶν , ἂν τὰ καθ' ἑαυτὸν παρίδω
'What then,' one says, 'if I neglect my own concerns
有人問說：「那麼，若我為了尋求別人的事，

τὰ τῶν ἄλλων ἐπιζητῶν; Οὐκ ἔστι τὰ τῶν ἄλλων ἐπιζητοῦντα τὰ ἑαυτοῦ παριδεῖν
while seeking after the things of others?' It is not possible for one who seeks the things of others to neglect his own.
反倒疏忽了自己的事，那又如何呢？」尋求別人益處的人，斷不會疏忽自己的事。
78:289⧉ ⤴︎
Ὁ γὰρ τὰ τῶν ἄλλων ἐπιζητῶν , οὐδένα λυπεῖ , ἀλλ' ἐλεεῖ πάντας , ὠφελεῖ εἰς δύναμιν τὴν ἑαυτοῦ·
For he who seeks the things of others grieves no one, but has mercy on all, and benefits them to the utmost of his power;
因為尋求別人益處的人，不使任何人憂愁，反倒憐憫眾人，並盡自己的力量使他們得益處；
78:290⧉ ⤴︎
οὐδένα ἁρπάσεται , οὐδένα πλεονεκτήσει , οὐ κλέψει , οὐ ψευδομαρτυρήσει·
he will plunder no one, defraud no one, will not steal, will not bear false witness;
他不搶奪人，不佔人的便宜，不偷竊，不作假見證；
78:291⧉ ⤴︎
πάσης ἀφέξεται κακίας , πάσης ἐπιλήψεται ἀρετῆς , καὶ ὑπερεύξεται τῶν ἐχθρῶν , καὶ εὐεργετήσει τοὺς ἐπιβουλεύοντας·
he will abstain from all vice, lay hold of all virtue, and will pray on behalf of his enemies, and will do good to those who plot against him;
他必遠避一切的惡，持守一切的德，並為仇敵代求，善待那些謀害他的人；
78:292⧉ ⤴︎
καὶ οὔτε λοιδορήσεταί τινι , οὔτε κακῶς ἐρεῖ , κἂν μυρία ἀκούσῃ κακῶς , ἀλλ' ἐρεῖ τὰ ἀποστολικά·
and he will neither revile anyone, nor speak evil, even if he hears himself abused ten thousand times, but will say with the apostle:
他也不辱罵任何人，不說惡言，縱使聽見自己被人辱罵千萬次，仍要說出使徒的話：
78:293⧉ ⤴︎
Τίς ἀσθενεῖ , καὶ οὐκ ἀσθενῶ; τίς σκανδαλίζεται , καὶ οὐκ ἐγὼ πυροῦμαι; Ἐν δὲ τῷ τὰ ἡμέτερα σκοπεῖν οὐ πάντως καὶ τὰ τῶν ἄλλων ἕψεται
'Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is made to stumble, and I am not inflamed?' But in looking after our own affairs, the things of others do not by any means follow.
「有誰軟弱，我不軟弱呢？有誰跌倒，我不焦急呢？」然而人單顧念自己的事，別人的益處卻未必因此隨之而來。
78:294⧉ ⤴︎
Ἐκ τούτων ἁπάντων πεισθέντες , ὡς οὐκ ἔνι σωθῆναι μὴ τὸ κοινῇ συμφέρον σκοποῦντα , καὶ τὸν διχοτομηθέντα τοῦτον ἰδόντες , καὶ τὸν τὸ
Being persuaded then by all these things, that it is not possible to be saved unless one looks to the common good, and beholding this man who was cut asunder, and the one who
所以我們既因這一切的事得以確信：人若不顧念公共的益處，便不能得救；又看見那被腰斬的人，以及那
78:295⧉ ⤴︎
τάλαντον κατορύξαντα , ταύτην ἑλώμεθα τὴν ὁδὸν , ἵνα καὶ τῆς αἰωνίου τύχωμεν ζωῆς·
buried his talent, let us choose this way, that we too may obtain eternal life;
把銀子埋在地裡的人，就讓我們揀選這條路，好叫我們也得著永生；
78:296⧉ ⤴︎
ἧς γένοιτο πάντας ἡμᾶς ἐπιτυχεῖν , χάριτι καὶ φιλανθρωπίᾳ τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ , ᾧ ἡ δόξα εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων
which may it be granted to us all to attain, by the grace and lovingkindness of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom be glory unto the ages of ages.
願我們眾人都得以承受這永生，藉著我們主耶穌基督的恩典與慈愛；願榮耀歸與祂，直到永永遠遠。
