Καταμάθωμεν οὖν αὐτῆς τὰ θεμέλια , τὰς πύλας τὰς ἀπὸ σαπφείρου καὶ μαργαριτῶν συγκειμένας·
Let us then learn thoroughly its foundations, its gates composed of sapphire and pearls;
那麼就讓我們細細認識它的根基，並那用藍寶石和珍珠所砌成的門；

καὶ γὰρ ἔχομεν ἄριστον χειραγωγὸν τὸν Ματθαῖον
for indeed we have in Matthew an excellent guide to lead us by the hand.
因為在馬太身上，我們實在有一位極好的嚮導，牽著我們的手引領我們。

Διὰ γὰρ τῆς αὐτοῦ πύλης εἴσιμεν νῦν , καὶ δεῖ πολλῆς ἡμῖν τῆς σπουδῆς
For it is through His gate that we are now entering, and we have need of great diligence.
因為我們如今正是經由祂的門進入，這需要我們極大的殷勤努力。

Ἂν γὰρ ἴδῃ τινὰ μὴ προσέχοντα , ἐκβάλλει τῆς πόλεως
For if He sees anyone not attending, He casts him out of the city.
因為祂若看見有人不專心留意，就把他趕出城外。

Καὶ γάρ ἐστι βασιλικωτάτη ἡ πόλις καὶ περιφανής·
For indeed this city is most royal and illustrious;
因為這城實在是至為尊貴、榮耀顯赫的；

οὐχ ὥσπερ αἱ παρ' ἡμῖν , εἰς ἀγορὰν καὶ βασίλεια διῃρημένη·
not like those among us, divided into marketplace and palace;
並不像我們這裡的城，分為市集與王宮兩處；

ἀλλὰ πάντα βασίλεια τὰ ἐκεῖ
but there all things are palaces.
而是那裡的一切盡都是王宮。
1:216⧉ ⤴︎
Ἀναπετάσωμεν τοίνυν τὰς πύλας τῆς διανοίας , ἀναπετάσωμεν τὴν ἀκοὴν , καὶ μετὰ φρίκης πολλῆς μέλλοντες ἐπιβαίνειν τῶν προθύρων , προσκυνήσωμεν τὸν ἐν αὐτῇ βασιλέα·
Let us therefore fling open the gates of the understanding, let us fling open our hearing, and, being about to set foot upon the threshold with much awe, let us do homage to the King who is within;
因此，讓我們敞開悟性的門，敞開我們的耳朵，帶著極大的敬畏將要踏上這門檻之際，向那位在其中的君王下拜致敬；

καὶ γὰρ εὐθέως ἡ πρώτη προσβολὴ καταπλῆξαι δύναται τὸν θεατήν
for indeed the very first approach is able to astound the beholder.
因為單單那最初的一瞥，就足以令觀看者驚駭震撼。
1:218⧉ ⤴︎
Κεκλεισμέναι μὲν νῦν εἰσιν ἡμῖν αἱ πύλαι·
The gates are now shut for us;
如今這些門對我們仍是關閉的；
1:219⧉ ⤴︎
ὅταν δὲ ἴδωμεν αὐτὰς ἀναπετασθείσας ( τοῦτο γάρ ἐστιν ἡ τῶν ζητημάτων λύσις ), τότε ὀψόμεθα πολλὴν ἔνδον τὴν ἀστραπήν
but when we see them flung open (for this is the solving of the questions), then shall we behold the great lightning within.
但當我們看見這些門被敞開之時（因為這正是諸般疑難的解答），我們便要看見裡面那大放的閃電光輝。
1:220⧉ ⤴︎
Καὶ γὰρ τοῖς τοῦ πνεύματος ὁδηγούμενος ὀφθαλμοῖς , πάντα σοι ἐπαγγέλλεται δεικνῦναι ὁ τελώνης οὗτος·
For being guided by the eyes of the Spirit, this publican promises to show you all things:
因為藉著聖靈的眼睛引導，這位稅吏應許要向你顯明一切：

ποῦ μὲν ὁ βασιλεὺς κάθηται·
where the King is seated;
君王坐在何處；
1:222⧉ ⤴︎
καὶ τίνες αὐτῷ τῶν στρατευμάτων παρεστήκασι·
and which of the hosts stand beside Him;
有哪些軍隊侍立在祂旁邊；
1:223⧉ ⤴︎
καὶ ποῦ μὲν ἄγγελοι , ποῦ δὲ ἀρχάγγελοι·
and where are the angels, and where the archangels;
眾天使在何處，眾天使長又在何處；
1:224⧉ ⤴︎
καὶ τίς τοῖς νέοις πολίταις ἐν τῇ πόλει ταύτῃ τόπος ἀφώρισται , καὶ ποία ἡ ἐκεῖ φέρουσα ὁδός·
and what place has been set apart in this city for the new citizens, and what is the road that leads there;
在這城中為新公民所劃定的是甚麼地方，通往那裡的又是甚麼道路；
1:225⧉ ⤴︎
καὶ τίνα ἔλαβον λῆξιν οἱ πρῶτον πολιτευσάμενοι ἐκεῖ , καὶ οἱ μετ' ἐκείνους , καὶ οἱ μετὰ τούτους·
and what portion those received who were the first to hold citizenship there, and those after them, and those after these;
那最先在那裡取得公民身分的人得了甚麼分，其後的人與再其後的人又得了甚麼分；
1:226⧉ ⤴︎
καὶ ὅσα τῶν δήμων ἐκείνων τὰ τάγματα , καὶ ὅσα τῆς βουλῆς , καὶ πόσαι ἀξιωμάτων διαφοραί
and how many are the orders of those peoples, and how many those of the council, and how many the distinctions of ranks.
那些民眾的班次有多少，議會的班次有多少，尊榮品級的區別又有多少。
1:227⧉ ⤴︎
Μὴ τοίνυν μετὰ θορύβου καὶ ταραχῆς εἰσίωμεν , ἀλλὰ μετὰ σιγῆς μυστικῆς
Let us therefore not enter with tumult and confusion, but with mystic silence.
因此，讓我們不要帶著喧嚷與紛亂進入，而要帶著奧祕的靜默進入。
1:228⧉ ⤴︎
θεάτρου σιγῆς πολλῆς γενομένης , τότε τὰ τοῦ βασιλέως ἀναγινώσκεται γράμματα , πολλῷ μᾶλλον ἐπὶ τῆς πόλεως ταύτης ἅπαντας δεῖ κατεστάλθαι , καὶ ὀρθαῖς ταῖς ψυχαῖς καὶ ταῖς ἀκοαῖς ἑστάναι
When in the theatre great silence has fallen, then are the King's letters read aloud; much more in this city must all be composed, and stand with upright souls and hearing.
在劇場中當大眾靜默下來，那時才宣讀君王的文書；那麼在這城裡就更當眾人都收斂靜肅，以正直的心靈與耳朵站立。
1:229⧉ ⤴︎
Οὐ γὰρ ἐπιγείου τινὸς , ἀλλὰ τοῦ τῶν ἀγγέλων Δεσπότου τὰ γράμματα ἀναγινώσκεσθαι μέλλει
For it is not the letters of some earthly one, but of the Lord of the angels, that are about to be read aloud.
因為將要宣讀的，不是某位屬地之人的文書，而是眾天使之主宰的文書。
1:230⧉ ⤴︎
Ἂν οὕτως ἑαυτοὺς ῥυθμίσωμεν , καὶ αὐτὴ τοῦ Πνεύματος ἡ χάρις ὁδηγήσει μετὰ πολλῆς ἀκριβείας ἡμᾶς , καὶ πρὸς αὐτὸν ἥξομεν τὸν θρόνον τὸν βασιλικὸν , καὶ πάντων ἐπιτευξόμεθα τῶν ἀγαθῶν , χάριτι καὶ φιλανθρωπίᾳ τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ , ᾧ ἡ δόξα καὶ τὸ κράτος , ἅμα τῷ Πατρὶ καὶ τῷ ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι , νῦν καὶ ἀεὶ καὶ εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων
If we thus order ourselves, the grace of the Spirit itself will guide us with much exactness, and we shall come to the very royal throne, and attain to all good things, by the grace and lovingkindness of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom be glory and dominion, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of the ages.
我們若這樣調整自己，聖靈的恩典必要極其精確地引導我們，我們便要來到那君王的寶座前，並得著一切美善，這都是靠著我們主耶穌基督的恩典與慈愛；願榮耀與權能都歸給祂，並歸給父與聖靈，從今直到永永遠遠。
