But indeed, when Caius had held the rule not even four full years, the emperor Claudius succeeded him. In his time, a famine pressed upon the inhabited world — a thing which even writers far removed from our account have handed down in their own histories — and the prediction in the Acts of the Apostles, made by the prophet Agabus concerning the famine that was to come upon the whole inhabited world, reached its fulfilment.
