9:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ θεὲ πατέρων καὶ κύριε τοῦ ἐλέους ὁ ποιήσας τὰ πάντα ἐν λόγῳ σου
Deus patrum meorum , et Domine misericordiæ , qui fecisti omnia verbo tuo ,
ወእቤ ፡ እምኵሉ ፡ ልብየ ፡ አምላከ ፡ አቡየ ፡ ወእግዚኣ ፡ ለምሕረት ፡ ዘገበርከ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዓለመ ፡ በቃልከ ።
O God of the fathers, and Lord who keep your mercy, Who made all things by your word;
9:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ τῇ σοφίᾳ σου κατασκευάσας ἄνθρωπον ἵνα δεσπόζῃ τῶν ὑπὸ σοῦ γενομένων κτισμάτων
et sapientia tua constituisti hominem , ut dominaretur creaturæ quæ a te facta est ,
ወበጥበብከ ፡ ረሰይከ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይኰንን ፡ ዘእምኀቤከ ፡ ተገብረ ፡ ፍጥረተ ።
And by your wisdom you formedst man, That he should have dominion over the creatures that were made by you,
9:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ διέπῃ τὸν κόσμον ἐν ὁσιότητι καὶ δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ ἐν εὐθύτητι ψυχῆς κρίσιν κρίνῃ
ut disponat orbem terrarum in æquitate et justitia , et in directione cordis judicium judicet :
ወያንሶሱ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወይሥራዕ ፡ ዓለመ ፡ በኂሩትከ ፡ ወበጽድቅከ ፡ ወበርትዐ ፡ መንፈሰ ፡ ኵነኔ ፡ ይኴንን ።
And rule the world in holiness and righteousness, And execute judgement in uprightness of soul;
9:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ δός μοι τὴν τῶν σῶν θρόνων πάρεδρον σοφίαν καὶ μή με ἀποδοκιμάσῃς ἐκ παίδων σου
da mihi sedium tuarum assistricem sapientiam , et noli me reprobare a pueris tuis :
ሀበኒ ፡ እንተ ፡ እምኀበ ፡ መናብርቲከ ፡ ትነብር ፡ ጥበበ ።
Give me wisdom, her that sits by you on your throne; And reject me not from among your servants:
9:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι ἐγὼ δοῦλος σὸς καὶ υἱὸς τῆς παιδίσκης σου ἄνθρωπος ἀσθενὴς καὶ ὀλιγοχρόνιος καὶ ἐλάσσων ἐν συνέσει κρίσεως καὶ νόμων
quoniam servus tuus sum ego , et filius ancillæ tuæ ; homo infirmus , et exigui temporis , et minor ad intellectum judicii et legum .
ወኢትመንነኒ ፡ እማእከለ ፡ አግብርቲከ ፡ እስመ ፡ አነ ፡ ገብርከ ፡ ወልደ ፡ አመትከ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ድውየ ፡ ኃይል ፡ ወሕፁፀ ፡ መዋዕል ፡ ወትሑት ፡ ለአእምሮ ፡ ሕገ ፡ ፍትሕ ።
Because I am your bondman and the son of your handmaid, A man weak and short-lived, And of small power to understand judgement and laws.
9:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ κἂν γάρ τις ᾖ τέλειος ἐν υἱοῖς ἀνθρώπων τῆς ἀπὸ σοῦ σοφίας ἀπούσης εἰς οὐδὲν λογισθήσεται
Nam etsi quis erit consummatus inter filios hominum , si ab illo abfuerit sapientia tua , in nihilum computabitur .
ወለእመኒቦ ፡ ዘኮነ ፡ ፍጹመ ፡ እምውሉደ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ እምከመ ፡ ርኅቅት ፡ እምኔሁ ፡ ጥበብ ፡ እንተ ፡ እምኀቤከ ፡ እስመ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ከመ ፡ ወኢምንትኒ ፡ እምኮነ ።
For even if a man be perfect among the sons of men, Yet if the wisdom that comes from you be not with him, he will be held in no account.
9:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ σύ με προείλω βασιλέα λαοῦ σου καὶ δικαστὴν υἱῶν σου καὶ θυγατέρων
Tu elegisti me regem populo tuo , et judicem filiorum tuorum et filiarum :
አንተ ፡ ኃረይከኒ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ለሕዝብከ ፡ ወመኰንነ ፡ ለውሉድከ ፡ ወለአዋልዲከ ።
You did choose me before my kindred to be king of your people, And to do judgement for your sons and daughters.
9:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπας οἰκοδομῆσαι ναὸν ἐν ὄρει ἁγίῳ σου καὶ ἐν πόλει κατασκηνώσεώς σου θυσιαστήριον μίμημα σκηνῆς ἁγίας ἣν προητοίμασας ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς
et dixisti me ædificare templum in monte sancto tuo , et in civitate habitationis tuæ altare : similitudinem tabernaculi sancti tui quod præparasti ab initio .
ወትቤ ፡ ይትሐነጽ ፡ ቤተ ፡ በደብረ ፡ መቅደስከ ፡ ወውስተ ፡ ሀገረ ፡ ምዕራፍከ ፡ ምሥዋዕ ፡ አምሳለ ፡ ቅድሳተ ፡ ስብሐቲከ ፡ እንተ ፡ አስተዳሎከ ፡ እምፍጥረት ።
You gave command to build a sanctuary in your holy mountain, And an altar in the city of your habitation, A copy of the holy tabernacle which you prepared beforehand from the beginning.
9:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ μετὰ σοῦ ἡ σοφία ἡ εἰδυῖα τὰ ἔργα σου καὶ παροῦσα ὅτε ἐποίεις τὸν κόσμον καὶ ἐπισταμένη τί ἀρεστὸν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς σου καὶ τί εὐθὲς ἐν ἐντολαῖς σου
Et tecum sapientia tua , quæ novit opera tua , quæ et affuit tunc cum orbem terrarum faceres , et sciebat quid esset placitum oculis tuis , et quid directum in præceptis tuis .
ወምስሌከ ፡ ጥበብ ፡ እንተ ፡ ተአምር ፡ ግብረከ ፡ ወሀለወት ፡ አመ ፡ ትገብር ፡ ዓለመ ፡ ወይእቲ ፡ ትጤይቅ ፡ ምንት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘያሠምረከ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ አዕይንቲከ ፡ ወምንት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘርቱዕ ፡ በትእዛዛቲከ ።
And with you is wisdom, which knows your works, And was present when you were making the world, And which understands what is pleasing in your eyes, And what is right according to your commandments.
9:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐξαπόστειλον αὐτὴν ἐξ ἁγίων οὐρανῶν καὶ ἀπὸ θρόνου δόξης σου πέμψον αὐτήν ἵνα συμπαροῦσά μοι κοπιάσῃ καὶ γνῶ τί εὐάρεστόν ἐστιν παρὰ σοί
Mitte illam de cælis sanctis tuis , et a sede magnitudinis tuæ , ut mecum sit et mecum laboret , ut sciam quid acceptum sit apud te :
ፈንዋ ፡ እምቅዱሳት ፡ ሰማያት ፡ ከመ ፡ ትትነሣእ ፡ ወትምጻእ ፡ ኀቤየ ፡ ፈንዋ ፡ እመንበረ ፡ ስብሐቲከ ፡ ወአእምር ፡ ምንት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘያሠምረከ ፡ ከመ ፡ ተሃሉ ፡ ምስሌየ ፡ ወትፃሙ ።
Send her forth out of the holy heavens, And from the throne of your glory bid her come, That being present with me she may toil with me, And that I may learn what is well-pleasing before you.
9:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἶδε γὰρ ἐκείνη πάντα καὶ συνίει καὶ ὁδηγήσει με ἐν ταῖς πράξεσί μου σωφρόνως καὶ φυλάξει με ἐν τῇ δόξῃ αὐτῆς
scit enim illa omnia , et intelligit , et deducet me in operibus meis sobrie , et custodiet me in sua potentia .
እስመ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ተአምር ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ግብረከ ፡ ዘአንተ ፡ ትጤይቅ ፡ ወይእቲ ፡ ትምርሐኒ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ ምግባራትየ ፡ ንጹሐ ፡ ወትዕቀበኒ ፡ በክብራ ፡ ወይኩን ፡ ምግባራትየ ፡ ሥሙረ ።
For she knows all things and has understanding thereof, And in my doings she will guide me in ways of soberness, And she will guard me in her glory.
9:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἔσται προσδεκτὰ τὰ ἔργα μου καὶ διακρινῶ τὸν λαόν σου δικαίως καὶ ἔσομαι ἄξιος θρόνων πατρός μου
Et erunt accepta opera mea , et disponam populum tuum juste , et ero dignus sedium patris mei .
ወእኰንን ፡ ሕዝበከ ፡ በጽድቅ ፡ ወእኩን ፡ ድልወ ፡ ለመናብርተ ፡ አበውየ ።
And so will my works be acceptible, And I will judge your people righteously, And I will be worthy of my father’s throne.
9:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ τίς γὰρ ἄνθρωπος γνώσεται βουλὴν θεοῦ ἢ τίς ἐνθυμηθήσεται τί θέλει ὁ κύριος
Quis enim hominum poterit scire consilium Dei ? aut quis poterit cogitare quid velit Deus ?
መኑ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ ዘየአምር ፡ ምክረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወመኑ ፡ ዘይሔሊ ፡ ወየአምር ፡ ምንተ ፡ ይፈቅድ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እስመ ፡ ሕሊናሆሙ ፡ ለመዋትያን ፡ ፈራህ ፡ ወመብእስ ፡ ሕሊናሆሙ ።
For what man will know the counsel of God? Or who will conceive what the Lord willeth?
9:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ λογισμοὶ γὰρ θνητῶν δειλοί καὶ ἐπισφαλεῖς αἱ ἐπίνοιαι ἡμῶν
Cogitationes enim mortalium timidæ , et incertæ providentiæ nostræ ;
እስመ ፡ ሥጋ ፡ ዘይማስን ፡ ይከድና ፡ ለነፍስ ፡ ወይከብዳ ፡ ወማኅደር ፡ ምድራዊ ፡ ይከድን ፡ ልበ ።
For the thoughts of mortals are timorous, And our plans are prone to fail.
9:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ φθαρτὸν γὰρ σῶμα βαρύνει ψυχήν καὶ βρίθει τὸ γεῶδες σκῆνος νοῦν πολυφρόντιδα
corpus enim quod corrumpitur aggravat animam , et terrena inhabitatio deprimit sensum multa cogitantem .
በብዙኅ ፡ ፃሕቅ ፡ ወትካዝ ፡ ወበዕፁብ ፡ ለእመ ፡ አየነ ፡ ንረክብ ፡ ምግባረ ፡ ዘውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወንረክብ ፡ በፃማ ፡ ግብረ ፡ እንተ ፡ ንገሥሣ ፡ በእደዊነ ፡ ወዘውስተ ፡ ሰማይሰ ፡ መኑ ፡ ፈተነ ፡ ወምክረከመኑ ፡ አእመረ ።
For a corruptible body weighs down the soul, And the earthy frame lies heavy on a mind that is full of cares.
9:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ μόλις εἰκάζομεν τὰ ἐπὶ γῆς καὶ τὰ ἐν χερσὶν εὑρίσκομεν μετὰ πόνου τὰ δὲ ἐν οὐρανοῖς τίς ἐξιχνίασεν
Et difficile æstimamus quæ in terra sunt , et quæ in prospectu sunt invenimus cum labore : quæ autem in cælis sunt , quis investigabit ?
ወሶበ ፡ አኮ ፡ አንተ ፡ እመ ፡ ኢወሀብከ ፡ ጥበበ ፡ ወፈኖከ ፡ ኀቤሁ ፡ እምአርያም ፡ ቅዱሰ ፡ መንፈሰከ ።
And hardly do we divine the things that are on earth, And the things that are close at hand we find with labor; But the things that are in the heavens who ever yet traced out?
9:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ βουλὴν δέ σου τίς ἔγνω εἰ μὴ σὺ ἔδωκας σοφίαν καὶ ἔπεμψας τὸ ἅγιόν σου πνεῦμα ἀπὸ ὑψίστων
Sensum autem tuum , quis sciet , nisi tu dederis sapientiam , et miseris spiritum sanctum tuum de altissimis ,
ወበእንተዝ ፡ ረትዓት ፡ ፍኖቶሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወዘያሠምረከ ፡ አእመሩ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ በጥበብ ፡ ወድኅኑ ፡ ባቲ ።
And who ever gained knowledge of your counsel, except you gave wisdom, And sent your holy spirit from on high?
9:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ οὕτως διωρθώθησαν αἱ τρίβοι τῶν ἐπὶ γῆς καὶ τὰ ἀρεστά σου ἐδιδάχθησαν ἄνθρωποι καὶ τῇ σοφίᾳ ἐσώθησαν
et sic correctæ sint semitæ eorum qui sunt in terris , et quæ tibi placent didicerint homines ?
— And it was thus that the ways of them which are on earth were corrected, And men were taught the things that are pleasing to you; And through wisdom were they saved.
