16:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ διὰ τοῦτο δῑ ὁμοίων ἐκολάσθησαν ἀξίως καὶ διὰ πλήθους κνωδάλων ἐβασανίσθησαν
Propter hæc et per his similia passi sunt digne tormenta , et per multitudinem bestiarum exterminati sunt .
ወበእንተዝ ፡ ዘበዘይመስሎሙ ፡ ለአማልክቲሆሙ ፡ ተቀሥፉ ፡ በጽድቅ ፡ እስመ ፡ ይደልዎሙ ፡ ወበብዙኀን ፡ እለ ፡ ይትሐወሱ ፡ ሕሱማን ፡ ተፅዕሩ ።
For this cause were these men worthily punished through creatures like those which they worship, And tormented through a multitude of vermin.
16:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀνθ’ ἧς κολάσεως εὐεργετήσας τὸν λαόν σου εἰς ἐπιθυμίαν ὀρέξεως ξένην γεῦσιν τροφὴν ἡτοίμασας ὀρτυγομήτραν
Pro quibus tormentis bene disposuisti populum tuum , quibus dedisti concupiscentiam delectamenti sui novum saporem , escam parans eis ortygometram :
ወአሠነይከ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ለሕዝብከ ፡ አንፃረ ፡ ፀሮሙ ፡ ወወሀብኮሙ ፡ ፍርፍርተ ፡ መብልዐ ፡ ለፍትወቶሙ ፡ ወይጥዓሙ ፡ ፍትወተ ፡ ዘጣዕሙ ፡ ነኪር ።
Instead of which punishment, you, bestowing benefits on your people, Preparedst quails for food, Food of rare taste, to satisfy the desire of their appetite;
16:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἵνα ἐκεῖνοι μὲν ἐπιθυμοῦντες τροφὴν διὰ τὴν εἰδέχθειαν τῶν ἐπαπεσταλμένων καὶ τὴν ἀναγκαίαν ὄρεξιν ἀποστρέφωνται αὐτοὶ δὲ ἐπ’ ὀλίγον ἐνδεεῖς γενόμενοι καὶ ξένης μετάσχωσι γεύσεως
ut illi quidem , concupiscentes escam propter ea quæ illis ostensa et missa sunt , etiam a necessaria concupiscentia averterentur . Hi autem in brevi inopes facti , novam gustaverunt escam .
ወእልክቱሰ ፡ አመ ፡ ፈተዉ ፡ መብልዐ ፡ ወባሕቱ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ግብር ፡ ዘተፈነወ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ ይትመየጡ ፡ ወዘዘልፈ ፡ ልማደ ፡ መነኑ ።
To the end that your enemies, desiring food, Might for the hideousness of the creatures sent among them Loathe even the necessary appetite; But these, your people, having for a short space suffered lack, Might even partake of food of rare taste.
16:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔδει γὰρ ἐκείνοις μὲν ἀπαραίτητον ἔνδειαν ἐπελθεῖν τυραννοῦσιν τούτοις δὲ μόνον δειχθῆναι πῶς οἱ ἐχθροὶ αὐτῶν ἐβασανίζοντο
Oportebat enim illis sine excusatione quidem supervenire interitum exercentibus tyrannidem ; his autem tantum ostendere quemadmodum inimici eorum exterminabantur .
ወእሉሰ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ረከቦሙ ፡ ዓፀባ ፡ ወኃጥኡ ፡ ኅዳጠ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ ተደለዉ ፡ ለመብልዕ ፡ ዘነኪር ፡ ጣዕሙ ።
For it was needful that upon those should come inexorable lack in their tyrannous dealing, But that to these it should only be showed how their enemies were tormented.
16:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ γὰρ ὅτε αὐτοῖς δεινὸς ἐπῆλθεν θηρίων θυμὸς δήγμασίν τε σκολιῶν διεφθείροντο ὄφεων οὐ μέχρι τέλους ἔμεινεν ἡ ὀργή σου
Etenim cum illis supervenit sæva bestiarum ira , morsibus perversorum colubrorum exterminabantur .
እስመ ፡ መፍቅድ ፡ ጸውዐ ፡ ይብጻሕ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እልክቱ ፡ ኵነኔ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ምሂክ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኅዩላን ፡ ወእኩያን ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ይርአዩ ፡ እሉ ፡ እፎ ፡ ባሕቲቶሙ ፡ ተፅዕሩ ፡ አፅራሪሆሙ ።
For even when terrible raging of wild beasts came upon your people, And they were perishing by the bites of crooked serpents, Your wrath continued not to the uttermost;
16:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰς νουθεσίαν δὲ πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐταράχθησαν σύμβολον ἔχοντες σωτηρίας εἰς ἀνάμνησιν ἐντολῆς νόμου σου
Sed non in perpetuum ira tua permansit , sed ad correptionem in brevi turbati sunt , signum habentes salutis ad commemorationem mandati legis tuæ .
ወለእመ ፡ መጽኦሙ ፡ መዓተ ፡ አራዊት ፡ ፀዋጋን ፡ ወኀልቁ ፡ በንስከተ ፡ አራዊተ ፡ ምድር ፡ እኩያን ፡ አኮ ፡ ለዝሉፉ ፡ ዘፀንዐ ፡ መዓትከ ፡ ዳዕሙ ፡ ተሀውኩ ፡ ኅዳጠ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይትገሠዑ ።
But for admonition were they troubled for a short space, Having a token of salvation, To put them in remembrance of the commandment of your law:
16:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ γὰρ ἐπιστραφεὶς οὐ διὰ τὸ θεωρούμενον ἐσῴζετο ἀλλὰ διὰ σὲ τὸν πάντων σωτῆρα
Qui enim conversus est , non per hoc quod videbat sanabatur , sed per te , omnium salvatorem .
ወዝንቱ ፡ ትእምርት ፡ ኮኖሙ ፡ መድኃኒተ ፡ ያዘክሮሙ ፡ ትእዛዛ ፡ ሕግከ ።
For he that turned toward it was not saved because of that which was seen, But because of you, the Saviour of all.
16:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐν τούτῳ δὲ ἔπεισας τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ἡμῶν ὅτι σὺ εἶ ὁ ῥυόμενος ἐκ παντὸς κακοῦ
In hoc autem ostendisti inimicis nostris quia tu es qui liberas ab omni malo .
እስመ ፡ ዘተመይጠ ፡ እምኔሆሙ ፡ አኮ ፡ ዘድኅነ ፡ በዘርእየ ፡ አላ ፡ በእንቲአከ ፡ ድኅነ ፡ ኦ ፡ መድኃኔ ፡ ኵሉ ።
Yes, and in this did you persuade our enemies, That you are he that delivers out of every evil.
16:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὓς μὲν γὰρ ἀκρίδων καὶ μυιῶν ἀπέκτεινεν δήγματα καὶ οὐχ εὑρέθη ἴαμα τῇ ψυχῇ αὐτῶν ὅτι ἄξιοι ἦσαν ὑπὸ τοιούτων κολασθῆναι
Illos enim locustarum et muscarum occiderunt morsus , et non est inventa sanitas animæ illorum , quia digni erant ab hujuscemodi exterminari .
ወበዝኒ ፡ አመከርኮሙ ፡ ወአእመንኮሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ አንተ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዛታድኅን ፡ እምኵሉ ፡ እኩይ ።
For them verily the bites of locusts and flies did kill, And there was not found a healing for their life, Because they were worthy to be punished by such as these;
16:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοὺς δὲ υἱούς σου οὐδὲ ἰοβόλων δρακόντων ἐνίκησαν ὀδόντες τὸ ἔλεος γάρ σου ἀντιπαρῆλθεν καὶ ἰάσατο αὐτούς
Filios autem tuos nec draconum venenatorum vicerunt dentes : misericordia enim tua adveniens sanabat illos .
እስመ ፡ ለእልክቱ ፡ ቀተሎሙ ፡ ንስከተ ፡ አንበጣ ፡ ወጽንጽንያ ፡ ወኢተረክበ ፡ ፈውስ ፡ ለነፍሶሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ ይደልዎሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትኰንኖሙ ፡ በዘከመዝ ፡ አምሳል ።
But your sons not the very teeth of venomous dragons overcame, For your mercy passed by where they were, and healed them.
16:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰς γὰρ ὑπόμνησιν τῶν λογίων σου ἐνεκεντρίζοντο καὶ ὀξέως διεσῴζοντο ἵνα μὴ εἰς βαθεῖαν ἐμπεσόντες λήθην ἀπερίσπαστοι γένωνται τῆς σῆς εὐεργεσίας
In memoria enim sermonum tuorum examinabantur , et velociter salvabantur : ne in altam incidentes oblivionem non possent tuo uti adjutorio .
ወለውሉድከሰ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ተአዘዙ ፡ ቦሙ ፡ ስነነ ፡ አክይስት ፡ ዘቦቱ ፡ ሕምዝ ፡ እስመ ፡ ምሕረትከ ፡ መጽኦሙ ፡ ወፈወሶሙ ።
For they were bitten, to put them in remembrance of your oracles; And were quickly saved, lest, falling into deep forgetfulness, They should become unable to be roused by your beneficence:
16:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ γὰρ οὔτε βοτάνη οὔτε μάλαγμα ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτούς ἀλλὰ ὁ σός κύριε λόγος ὁ πάντας ἰώμενος
Etenim neque herba , neque malagma sanavit eos : sed tuus , Domine , sermo , qui sanat omnia .
እስመ ፡ ለተዘክሮ ፡ ቃልከ ፡ ጥዕሙ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ወፍጡነ ፡ ሐይዉ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይደቁ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ርስዓት ፡ ዕሙቅ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ኢይደቁ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ካልእ ፡ ምግባር ፡ ወሕማም ፡ እምዝክረ ፡ ሠናያቲከ ።
For of a truth it was neither herb nor mollifying plaister that cured them, But your word, O Lord, which heals all things;
16:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ σὺ γὰρ ζωῆς καὶ θανάτου ἐξουσίαν ἔχεις καὶ κατάγεις εἰς πύλας ᾅδου καὶ ἀνάγεις
Tu es enim , Domine , qui vitæ et mortis habes potestatem , et deducis ad portas mortis , et reducis .
እስመ ፡ አኮ ፡ ዕፅ ፡ ዘይሰትይዎ ፡ ወኢሥራይ ፡ ዘይቀብዕዎ ፡ ዘፈወሶሙ ፡ አላ ፡ ቃለ ፡ ዚአከ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ዘኵሎ ፡ ይፌውስ ።
For you have authority over life and death, And you lead down to the gates of Hades, and lead up again.
16:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἄνθρωπος δὲ ἀποκτέννει μὲν τῇ κακίᾳ αὐτοῦ ἐξελθὸν δὲ πνεῦμα οὐκ ἀναστρέφει οὐδὲ ἀναλύει ψυχὴν παραλημφθεῖσαν
Homo autem occidit quidem per malitiam ; et cum exierit spiritus , non revertetur , nec revocabit animam quæ recepta est .
እስመ ፡ ለሞት ፡ ወለሕይወት ፡ ሥልጣን ፡ ብከ ፡ ወታወርድ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አናቅጸ ፡ ሲኦል ፡ ወታወፅእ ።
But though a man may kill by his wickedness, Yet the spirit that is gone forth he turns not again, Neither gives release to the soul that Hades has received.
16:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ τὴν δὲ σὴν χεῖρα φυγεῖν ἀδύνατόν ἐστιν
Sed tuam manum effugere impossibile est .
ወሰብእሰ ፡ ይቀትል ፡ በእኩይ ፡ ወእምከመ ፡ ወፅአ ፡ መንፈስ ፡ ኢይገብእ ፡ ወኢትሠወጥ ፡ ነፍስ ፡ እንተ ፡ ተነሥአት ።
But your hand it is not possible to escape;
16:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀρνούμενοι γάρ σε εἰδέναι ἀσεβεῖς ἐν ἰσχύι βραχίονός σου ἐμαστιγώθησαν ξένοις ὑετοῖς καὶ χαλάζαις καὶ ὄμβροις διωκόμενοι ἀπαραιτήτοις καὶ πυρὶ καταναλισκόμενοι
Negantes enim te nosse impii , per fortitudinem brachii tui flagellati sunt : novis aquis , et grandinibus , et pluviis persecutionem passi , et per ignem consumpti .
ወእምእደ ፡ ዚአከሰ ፡ ጐይይ ፡ ኢይትከሀል ፡ ወኢይደሉ ።
For ungodly men, refusing to know you, were scourged in the strength of your arm, Pursued with strange rains and hails and showers inexorable, And utterly consumed with fire;
16:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ τὸ γὰρ παραδοξότατον ἐν τῷ πάντα σβεννύντι ὕδατι πλεῖον ἐνήργει τὸ πῦρ ὑπέρμαχος γὰρ ὁ κόσμος ἐστὶν δικαίων
Quod enim mirabile erat , in aqua , quæ omnia extinguit , plus ignis valebat : vindex est enim orbis justorum .
ወሶበ ፡ አእመርከ ፡ ከመ ፡ ረሲዓን ፡ ይክሕዱከ ፡ በኃይለ ፡ መዝራዕትከ ፡ ተቀሥፉ ፡ ወኃልቁ ።
For, what was most marvelous of all, In the water which quenches all things the fire wrought yet more mightily; For the world fights for the righteous.
16:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ ποτὲ μὲν γὰρ ἡμεροῦτο φλόξ ἵνα μὴ καταφλέξῃ τὰ ἐπ’ ἀσεβεῖς ἀπεσταλμένα ζῷα ἀλλ’ αὐτοὶ βλέποντες εἰδῶσιν ὅτι θεοῦ κρίσει ἐλαύνονται
Quodam enim tempore mansuetabatur ignis , ne comburerentur quæ ad impios missa erant animalia , sed ut ipsi videntes scirent quoniam Dei judicio patiuntur persecutionem .
ወተሰዱ ፡ በዝናም ፡ ነኪር ፡ ወበበረድ ፡ ወበአስራበ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ምሕረት ፡ ወኢክልአት ፡ ወኃልቁ ፡ በእሳት ።
For at one time the flame lost its fierceness, That it might not burn up the creatures sent against the ungodly, But that these themselves as they looked might see that they were chased through the judgement of God:
16:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ ποτὲ δὲ καὶ μεταξὺ ὕδατος ὑπὲρ τὴν πυρὸς δύναμιν φλέγει ἵνα ἀδίκου γῆς γενήματα διαφθείρῃ
Et quodam tempore in aqua supra virtutem ignis exardescebat undique , ut iniquæ terræ nationem exterminaret .
ወዘመንከርሰ ፡ ግብር ፡ ዘኢይትከሀል ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘይጠፍእ ፡ በማይ ፡ ፈድፋደ ፡ ተገብረ ፡ ወተሠልጠ ፡ ውስቴቱ ፡ እሳት ፡ እስመ ፡ ዓለም ፡ መርድእ ፡ ለጻድቃን ፡ ውእቱ ።
And at another time even in the midst of water it burns above the power of fire, That it may destroy the fruits of an unrighteous land.
16:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀνθ’ ὧν ἀγγέλων τροφὴν ἐψώμισας τὸν λαόν σου καὶ ἕτοιμον ἄρτον ἀπ’ οὐρανοῦ παρέσχες αὐτοῖς ἀκοπιάτως πᾶσαν ἡδονὴν ἰσχύοντα καὶ πρὸς πᾶσαν ἁρμόνιον γεῦσιν
Pro quibus angelorum esca nutrivisti populum tuum , et paratum panem de cælo præstitisti illis sine labore , omne delectamentum in se habentem , et omnis saporis suavitatem .
እስመ ፡ ላህበ ፡ ነድ ፡ ኮነ ፡ ልሙደ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢያውዒ ፡ እንስሳ ፡ ዘተፈነወ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ረሲዓን ።
Instead whereof you gave your people angels’ food to eat, And bread ready for their use did you provide for them from heaven without their toil, Bread having the virtue of every pleasant savor, And agreeing to every taste;
16:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡ μὲν γὰρ ὑπόστασίς σου τὴν σὴν πρὸς τέκνα ἐνεφάνιζεν γλυκύτητα τῇ δὲ τοῦ προσφερομένου ἐπιθυμίᾳ ὑπηρετῶν πρὸς ὅ τις ἐβούλετο μετεκιρνᾶτο
Substantia enim tua dulcedinem tuam , quam in filios habes , ostendebat ; et deserviens uniuscujusque voluntati , ad quod quisque volebat convertebatur .
ወባሕቱ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ርእዩ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ የአምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ በኵነኔ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ይሰደዱ ፡ ወቦሙ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ማይ ፡ ይነድድ ፡ ኃይለ ፡ እሳት ፡ ፈድፋደ ፡ ከመ ፡ ያማስን ፡ ወያጥፍእ ፡ ፍሬያተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ዓማፂት ።
For your nature manifested your sweetness toward your children; While that bread, ministering to the desire of the eater, Tempered itself according to every man’s choice.
16:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ χιὼν δὲ καὶ κρύσταλλος ὑπέμεινε πῦρ καὶ οὐκ ἐτήκετο ἵνα γνῶσιν ὅτι τοὺς τῶν ἐχθρῶν καρποὺς κατέφθειρε πῦρ φλεγόμενον ἐν τῇ χαλάζῃ καὶ ἐν τοῖς ὑετοῖς διαστράπτον
Nix autem et glacies sustinebant vim ignis , et non tabescebant : ut scirent quoniam fructus inimicorum exterminabat ignis ardens in grandine et pluvia coruscans ;
ወበህየንቴሁ ፡ አብላዕከ ፡ ለሕዝብከ ፡ መብልዐ ፡ መላእክት ፡ ወፈነውከ ፡ ኅብስተ ፡ ድልወ ፡ እምሰማይ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ፃማ ፡ ዘይትኄየል ፡ ጣዕሙ ፡ እምኵሉ ፡ ዘይጥዕም ፡ ወያኃሥር ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ጣዕመ ።
But snow and ice endured fire, and melted not, That men might know that fire was destroying the fruits of the enemies, Burning in the hail and flashing in the rains;
16:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦτο πάλιν δ’ ἵνα τραφῶσιν δίκαιοι καὶ τῆς ἰδίας ἐπιλέλησται δυνάμεως
hic autem iterum ut nutrirentur justi , etiam suæ virtutis oblitus est .
እስመ ፡ አርአያ ፡ መልክዕከ ፡ ዘላዕሉ ፡ ከሠተ ፡ ጣዕመ ፡ ምዕርዕርናከ ፡ ለውሉድከ ፡ ወይትፋለስ ፡ ጣዕሙ ፡ ለዘይነሥእ ፡ እምኔሁ ፡ ወይትለአከ ፡ ለፈጽሞ ፡ ፍትዎቶሙ ፡ ዘሐለዩ ፡ እምነ ፡ መባልዕት ፡ ወፈቀዱ ።
And that this element again, in order that righteous men may be nourished, Hath even forgotten its own power.
16:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡ γὰρ κτίσις σοὶ τῷ ποιήσαντι ὑπηρετοῦσα ἐπιτείνεται εἰς κόλασιν κατὰ τῶν ἀδίκων καὶ ἀνίεται εἰς εὐεργεσίαν ὑπὲρ τῶν ἐπὶ σοὶ πεποιθότων
Creatura enim tibi factori deserviens , exardescit in tormentum adversus injustos , et lenior fit ad benefaciendum pro his qui in te confidunt .
በረድኒ ፡ ወአስሐትጸንዑ ፡ ወቆሙ ፡ ዘምስለ ፡ እሳት ፡ ወኢተመስዉ ፡ ከመ ፡ ያእምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ ፍሬያተ ፡ አዝርእቶሙ ፡ ለአፅራር ፡ አማሰት ፡ ወአጥፍአት ፡ እሳት ፡ እንዘ ፡ ትነድድ ፡ ውስተ ፡ በረድ ፡ ወውስተ ፡ ዝናማትኒ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ትበርቅ ።
For the creation, ministering to you its maker, Straineth its force against the unrighteous, for punishment, And slackeneth it in behalf of those who trust in you, for beneficence.
16:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ διὰ τοῦτο καὶ τότε εἰς πάντα μεταλλευομένη τῇ παντοτρόφῳ σου δωρεᾷ ὑπηρέτει πρὸς τὴν τῶν δεομένων θέλησιν
Propter hoc et tunc in omnia transfigurata , omnium nutrici gratiæ tuæ deserviebat , ad voluntatem eorum qui a te desiderabant :
ወዘንተ ፡ ካዕበ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ተሴሰዩ ፡ ጻድቃን ፡ ኃይለ ፡ ሲሳየ ፡ ርእሶሙ ፡ ረስዑ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ፍጥረት ፡ ለከ ፡ ይትለአክ ።
Therefore at that time also, converting itself into all forms, It ministered to your all-nourishing bounty, According to the desire of those who made supplication;
16:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἵνα μάθωσιν οἱ υἱοί σου οὓς ἠγάπησας κύριε ὅτι οὐχ αἱ γενέσεις τῶν καρπῶν τρέφουσιν ἄνθρωπον ἀλλὰ τὸ ῥῆμά σου τοὺς σοὶ πιστεύοντας διατηρεῖ
ut scirent filii tui quos dilexisti , Domine , quoniam non nativitatis fructus pascunt homines , sed sermo tuus hos qui in te crediderint conservat .
ኦ ፡ ገባሪ ፡ ትሰፍሕ ፡ ኵነኔ ፡ ዘይትፌኖ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ዓማፅያን ፡ ወትጼጉ ፡ ተድላ ፡ ይብጻሕ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እለ ፡ ይትአመኑ ፡ ብከ ።
That your sons, whom you loved, O Lord, might learn That it is not the growth of the earth’s fruits that nourishes a man, But that your word preserves those who trust you.
16:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ τὸ γὰρ ὑπὸ πυρὸς μὴ φθειρόμενον ἁπλῶς ὑπὸ βραχείας ἀκτῖνος ἡλίου θερμαινόμενον ἐτήκετο
Quod enim ab igne non poterat exterminari , statim ab exiguo radio solis calefactum tabescebat :
ወበእንተዝ ፡ አሜሃ ፡ ሀብትከ ፡ ሀለወት ፡ ትትፋለስ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ግብር ፡ ወትትለአከ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ መብልዕ ፡ መንገለ ፡ መፍቅድ ፡ ዘሰአሉ ፡ ወፈተዉ ።
For that which was not marred by fire, When it was simply warmed by a faint sunbeam melted away;
16:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅπως γνωστὸν ᾖ ὅτι δεῖ φθάνειν τὸν ἥλιον ἐπ’ εὐχαριστίαν σου καὶ πρὸς ἀνατολὴν φωτὸς ἐντυγχάνειν σοι
ut notum omnibus esset quoniam oportet prævenire solem ad benedictionem tuam , et ad ortum lucis te adorare .
ከመ ፡ ያእምሩ ፡ ውሉድከ ፡ እለ ፡ አፍቀርኮሙ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ከመ ፡ አኮ ፡ ዘዘዚአሁ ፡ ፍሬያተ ፡ ዘርእ ፡ ዘይሴሴ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ አላ ፡ ቃልከ ፡ የዓቅቦሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ይትዌከሉ ፡ ብከ ።
That it might be known that we must rise before the sun to give you thanks, And must plead with you at the dawning of the light:
16:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀχαρίστου γὰρ ἐλπὶς ὡς χειμέριος πάχνη τακήσεται καὶ ῥυήσεται ὡς ὕδωρ ἄχρηστον
Ingrati enim spes tamquam hibernalis glacies tabescet , et disperiet tamquam aqua supervacua .
እስመ ፡ ዘኢያማስኖ ፡ እሳት ፡ በከ ፡ በንስቲት ፡ ላህበ ፡ ፀሐይ ፡ መዊቆ ፡ ተመስወ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይትአመር ።
For the hope of the unthankful will melt as the winter’s hoar frost, And will flow away as water that has no use.
