6:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ δὲ πορευόμενοι τὴν ὁδὸν ἦλθον ἑσπέρας ἐπὶ τὸν Τίγριν ποταμὸν καὶ ηὐλίζοντο ἐκεῖ καὶ ἐξῆλθεν τὸ παιδίον καὶ ὁ ἄγγελος μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ὁ κύων ἐξῆλθεν μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπορεύθη μετ’ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ἀμφότεροι καὶ ἔτυχεν αὐτοῖς νὺξ μία καὶ ηὐλίσθησαν ἐπὶ τοῦ Τίγριδος ποταμοῦ
Profectus est autem Tobias , et canis secutus est eum , et mansit prima mansione juxta fluvium Tigris .
ወእንዘ ፡ የሐውሩ ፡ ፍኖቶሙ ፡ በጽሑ ፡ በጣኔስ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ተከዚ ፡ ምሴተ ፡ ወቤቱ ፡ በህየ ።
Now as they went on their journey, they came at evening to the river Tigris, and they lodged there.
6:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ τὸ δὲ παιδάριον κατέβη περικλύσασθαι καὶ ἀνεπήδησεν ἰχθὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ ποταμοῦ καὶ ἐβουλήθη καταπιεῖν τὸ παιδάριον καὶ κατέβη τὸ παιδίον περινίψασθαι τοὺς πόδας εἰς τὸν Τίγριν ποταμόν καὶ ἀναπηδήσας ἰχθὺς μέγας ἐκ τοῦ ὕδατος ἐβούλετο καταπιεῖν τὸν πόδα τοῦ παιδαρίου καὶ ἔκραξεν
Et exivit ut lavaret pedes suos , et ecce piscis immanis exivit ad devorandum eum .
ወወረደ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወልድ ፡ ይትሐፀብ ፡ ወሠረረ ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ ዓሣ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ተከዚ ፡ ወፈቀደ ፡ የሐጦ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ወልድ ።
But the young man went down to wash himself, and a fish leaped out of the river, and would have swallowed up the young man.
6:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ ἄγγελος εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἐπιλαβοῦ τοῦ ἰχθύος καὶ ἐκράτησεν τὸν ἰχθὺν τὸ παιδάριον καὶ ἀνέβαλεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ ὁ ἄγγελος τῷ παιδαρίῳ εἶπεν ἐπιλαβοῦ καὶ ἐγκρατὴς τοῦ ἰχθύος γενοῦ καὶ ἐκράτησεν τὸ παιδάριον τοῦ ἰχθύος καὶ ἀνήνεγκεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν
Quem expavescens Tobias clamavit voce magna , dicens : Domine , invadit me .
ወይቤሎ ፡ መልአክ ፡ አኃዞ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ዓሣ ፡ ወአኃዞ ፡ ለዓሣ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወልድ ፡ ወአውጽኦ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ።
But the angel said to him, “Grab the fish!” So the young man grabbed the fish, and hauled it up onto the land.
6:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ ἄγγελος ἀνάτεμε τὸν ἰχθὺν καὶ λαβὼν τὴν καρδίαν καὶ τὸ ἧπαρ καὶ τὴν χολὴν θὲς ἀσφαλῶς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ ἄγγελος ἀνάσχισον τὸν ἰχθὺν καὶ ἔξελε τὴν χολὴν καὶ τὴν καρδίαν καὶ τὸ ἧπαρ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπόθες αὐτὰ μετὰ σαυτοῦ καὶ τὰ ἔγκατα ἔκβαλε ἔστιν γὰρ εἰς φάρμακον χρήσιμον ἡ χολὴ καὶ ἡ καρδία καὶ τὸ ἧπαρ αὐτοῦ
Et dixit ei angelus : Apprehende branchiam ejus , et trahe eum ad te . Quod cum fecisset , attraxit eum in siccum , et palpitare cœpit ante pedes ejus .
ወይቤሎ ፡ ዝኩ ፡ መልአክ ፡ ምትሮ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ዓሣ ፡ ወንሣእ ፡ ልቦ ፡ ወከብዶ ፡ ወሐሞቶ ፡ ወአጽንዕ ፡ ዓቂቦቶ ።
And the angel said to him, “Cut the fish open, and take the heart, the liver, and the gall, and keep them with you.”
6:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ παιδάριον ὡς εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ ἄγγελος τὸν δὲ ἰχθὺν ὀπτήσαντες ἔφαγον καὶ ἀνασχίσας τὸ παιδάριον τὸν ἰχθὺν συνήγαγεν τὴν χολὴν καὶ τὴν καρδίαν καὶ τὸ ἧπαρ καὶ ὤπτησεν τοῦ ἰχθύος καὶ ἔφαγεν καὶ ἀφῆκεν ἐξ αὐτοῦ ἡλισμένον
Tunc dixit ei angelus : Exentera hunc piscem , et cor ejus , et fel , et jecur repone tibi : sunt enim hæc necessaria ad medicamenta utiliter .
ወገብረ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወልድ ፡ በከመ ፡ አዘዞ ፡ መልአክ ፡ ወዓሣሁኒ ፡ ጠበሱ ፡ ወበልዑ ፡ ወጌሡ ፡ ክልኤሆሙ ፡ ወበጽሑ ፡ በጣኔስ ።
And the young man did as the angel commanded him; but they roasted the fish, and ate it. And they both went on their way, till they drew near to Ecbatana.
6:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὥδευον ἀμφότεροι ἕως ἤγγισαν ἐν Ἐκβατάνοις καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ἀμφότεροι κοινῶς ἕως ἤγγισαν εἰς Μηδίαν
Quod cum fecisset , assavit carnes ejus , et secum tulerunt in via : cetera salierunt , quæ sufficerent eis , quousque pervenirent in Rages civitatem Medorum .
ወይቤሎ ፡ ዝኩ ፡ ወልድ ፡ ለመልአክ ፡ አንተ ፡ እኁየ ፡ አዛርያ ፡ ምንት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ከብዱ ፡ ወልቡ ፡ ወሐሞቱ ፡ ለዝንቱ ፡ ዓሣ ።
The young man said to the angel, “Brother Azarias, of what use is the heart, the liver, and the gall of the fish?”
6:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εἶπεν τὸ παιδάριον τῷ ἀγγέλῳ Αζαρια ἄδελφε τί ἐστιν τὸ ἧπαρ καὶ ἡ καρδία καὶ ἡ χολὴ τοῦ ἰχθύος καὶ τότε ἠρώτησεν τὸ παιδάριον τὸν ἄγγελον καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Αζαρια ἄδελφε τί τὸ φάρμακον ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ καὶ τῷ ἥπατι τοῦ ἰχθύος καὶ ἐν τῇ χολῇ
Tunc interrogavit Tobias angelum , et dixit ei : Obsecro te , Azaria frater , ut dicas mihi quod remedium habebunt ista , quæ de pisce servare jussisti ?
ወይቤሎ ፡ ልቡ ፡ ወከብዱ ፡ ለእመቦ ፡ ዘየሐምሞ ፡ ጋኔን ፡ እኵይ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ያጠይሱ ፡ ቅድሜሁ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ወእመኒ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ ወኢየሐምም ፡ እንከ ።
He said to him, “About the heart and the liver: If a demon or an evil spirit troubles anyone, we must burn those and make smoke of them before the man or the woman, and the affliction will flee.
6:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἡ καρδία καὶ τὸ ἧπαρ ἐάν τινα ὀχλῇ δαιμόνιον ἢ πνεῦμα πονηρόν ταῦτα δεῖ καπνίσαι ἐνώπιον ἀνθρώπου ἢ γυναικός καὶ οὐκέτι οὐ μὴ ὀχληθῇ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἡ καρδία καὶ τὸ ἧπαρ τοῦ ἰχθύος κάπνισον ἐνώπιον ἀνθρώπου ἢ γυναικός ᾧ ἀπάντημα δαιμονίου ἢ πνεύματος πονηροῦ καὶ φεύξεται ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ πᾶν ἀπάντημα καὶ οὐ μὴ μείνωσιν μετ’ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα
Et respondens angelus , dixit ei : Cordis ejus particulam si super carbones ponas , fumus ejus extricat omne genus dæmoniorum sive a viro , sive a muliere , ita ut ultra non accedat ad eos .
ወሐሞቶሰ ፡ ይኵሕልዎ ፡ ለብእሲ ፡ ዘቦቱ ፡ ጢስ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አዕይንቲሁ ፡ ወየሐዩ ።
But as for the gall, it is good to anoint a man that has white films in his eyes, and he will be healed.”
6:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡ δὲ χολή ἐγχρῖσαι ἄνθρωπον ὃς ἔχει λευκώματα ἐν τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς καὶ ἰαθήσεται καὶ ἡ χολή ἐγχρῖσαι ἀνθρώπου ὀφθαλμούς οὗ λευκώματα ἀνέβησαν ἐπ’ αὐτῶν ἐμφυσῆσαι ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ τῶν λευκωμάτων καὶ ὑγιαίνουσιν
Et fel valet ad ungendos oculos in quibus fuerit albugo , et sanabuntur .
ወሶበ ፡ ቀርቡ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ራጊስ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ መልአክ ፡ አንተ ፡ እኁየ ፡ ዮምኬ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ራጉኤል ፡ ነኅድር ።
But when they drew near to Rages,
6:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς δὲ προσήγγισαν τῇ Ραγη καὶ ὅτε εἰσῆλθεν εἰς Μηδίαν καὶ ἤδη ἤγγιζεν εἰς Ἐκβάτανα
Et dixit ei Tobias : Ubi vis ut maneamus ?
ወአዝማዲከ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወቦ ፡ አሐቲ ፡ ወለት ፡ ዘስማ ፡ ሣራ ፡ ወእትናገርኑ ፡ በእንቲአሃ ፡ የሀቡከ ፡ ትኩንከ ፡ ብእሲተ ።
the angel said to the young man, “Brother, today we will lodge with Raguel. He is your kinsman. He has an only daughter named Sarah. I will speak about her, that she should be given to you for a wife.
6:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν ὁ ἄγγελος τῷ παιδαρίῳ ἄδελφε σήμερον αὐλισθησόμεθα παρὰ Ραγουηλ καὶ αὐτὸς συγγενής σού ἐστιν καὶ ἔστιν αὐτῷ θυγάτηρ μονογενὴς ὀνόματι Σαρρα λέγει Ραφαηλ τῷ παιδαρίῳ Τωβια ἄδελφε καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἰδοὺ ἐγώ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἐν τοῖς Ραγουήλου τὴν νύκτα ταύτην δεῖ ἡμᾶς αὐλισθῆναι καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος συγγενής σού ἐστιν καὶ ἔστιν αὐτῷ θυγάτηρ ᾗ ὄνομα Σαρρα
Respondensque angelus , ait : Est hic Raguel nomine , vir propinquus de tribu tua , et hic habet filiam nomine Saram , sed neque masculum neque feminam ullam habet aliam præter eam .
እስመ ፡ ለከ ፡ ይበጽሐከ ፡ ርስታ ፡ ወአንተ ፡ ሀሎከ ፡ እምነ ፡ አዝማዲሃ ፡ ወወለታኒ ፡ ሠናይት ፡ ወጠባብ ።
For her inheritance belongs to you, and you only are of her kindred.
6:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ λαλήσω περὶ αὐτῆς τοῦ δοθῆναί σοι αὐτὴν εἰς γυναῖκα ὅτι σοὶ ἐπιβάλλει ἡ κληρονομία αὐτῆς καὶ σὺ μόνος εἶ ἐκ τοῦ γένους αὐτῆς καὶ τὸ κοράσιον καλὸν καὶ φρόνιμόν ἐστιν καὶ υἱὸς ἄρσην οὐδὲ θυγάτηρ ὑπάρχει αὐτῷ πλὴν Σαρρας μόνης καὶ σὺ ἔγγιστα αὐτῆς εἶ παρὰ πάντας ἀνθρώπους κληρονομῆσαι αὐτήν καὶ τὰ ὄντα τῷ πατρὶ αὐτῆς σοὶ δικαιοῦται κληρονομῆσαι καὶ τὸ κοράσιον φρόνιμον καὶ ἀνδρεῖον καὶ καλὸν λίαν καὶ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτῆς καλός
Tibi debetur omnis substantia ejus , et oportet eam te accipere conjugem .
ወይእዜኒ ፡ ስምዓኒ ፡ ወእትናገሮ ፡ ለአቡሃ ፡ ወሶበ ፡ ገባዕነ ፡ እምነ ፡ ራጊስ ፡ ንገብር ፡ በዓለ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኢይገብር ፡ የሀባ ፡ ራጉኤል ፡ ለካልዕ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ሕገ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ወእምአብደረ ፡ ትሙት ፡ እስመ ፡ ርስታ ፡ ለከ ፡ ይበጽሐከ ፡ እምኵሉ ፡ ሰብእ ።
The maid is fair and wise. And now hear me, and I will speak to her father. When we return from Rages we will celebrate the marriage; for I know that Raguel may in no way marry her to another according to the law of Moses, or else he would be liable to death, because it belongs to you to take the inheritance, rather than any other.”
6:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ νῦν ἄκουσόν μου καὶ λαλήσω τῷ πατρὶ αὐτῆς καὶ ὅταν ὑποστρέψωμεν ἐκ Ῥάγων ποιήσομεν τὸν γάμον διότι ἐπίσταμαι Ραγουηλ ὅτι οὐ μὴ δῷ αὐτὴν ἀνδρὶ ἑτέρῳ κατὰ τὸν νόμον Μωυσῆ ἢ ὀφειλέσει θάνατον ὅτι τὴν κληρονομίαν σοὶ καθήκει λαβεῖν ἢ πάντα ἄνθρωπον καὶ εἶπεν δεδικαίωταί σοι λαβεῖν αὐτήν καὶ ἄκουσόν μου ἄδελφε καὶ λαλήσω τῷ πατρὶ περὶ τοῦ κορασίου τὴν νύκτα ταύτην ἵνα λημψόμεθά σοι αὐτὴν νύμφην καὶ ὅταν ἐπιστρέψωμεν ἐκ Ῥάγων ποιήσομεν τὸν γάμον αὐτῆς καὶ ἐπίσταμαι ὅτι οὐ μὴ δυνηθῇ Ραγουηλ κωλῦσαι αὐτὴν ἀπὸ σοῦ ἢ ἐγγυᾶσθαι ἑτέρῳ ὀφειλήσειν θάνατον κατὰ τὴν κρίσιν τῆς βίβλου Μωυσέως διὰ τὸ γινώσκειν ὅτι σοὶ κληρονομία καθήκει λαβεῖν τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ παρὰ πάντα ἄνθρωπον καὶ νῦν ἄκουσόν μου ἄδελφε καὶ λαλήσομεν περὶ τοῦ κορασίου τὴν νύκτα ταύτην καὶ μνηστευσόμεθά σοι αὐτήν καὶ ὅταν ἐπιστρέψωμεν ἐκ Ῥάγων λημψόμεθα αὐτὴν καὶ ἀπάξομεν αὐτὴν μεθ’ ἡμῶν εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου
Pete ergo eam a patre ejus , et dabit tibi eam in uxorem .
ወይቤሎ ፡ ዝኩ ፡ ወልድ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ መልአክ ፡ አንተ ፡ እኁየ ፡ አዛርያ ፡ ሰማዕኩ ፡ አነ ፡ ከመ ፡ አስተዋሰብዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ወለት ፡ ለሰብእቱ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ወኵሎሙ ፡ ሞቱ ፡ አመ ፡ ከብካብ ።
Then the young man said to the angel, “Brother Azarias, I have heard that this maid has been given to seven men, and that they all perished in the bride-chamber.
6:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ τότε εἶπεν τὸ παιδάριον τῷ ἀγγέλῳ Αζαρια ἄδελφε ἀκήκοα ἐγὼ τὸ κοράσιον δεδόσθαι ἑπτὰ ἀνδράσιν καὶ πάντας ἐν τῷ νυμφῶνι ἀπολωλότας τότε ἀποκριθεὶς Τωβιας εἶπεν τῷ Ραφαηλ Αζαρια ἄδελφε ἤκουσα ὅτι ἑπτὰ ἤδη ἐδόθη ἀνδράσιν καὶ ἀπέθανον ἐν τοῖς νυμφῶσιν αὐτῶν τὴν νύκτα ὁπότε εἰσεπορεύοντο πρὸς αὐτήν καὶ ἀπέθνῃσκον καὶ ἤκουσα λεγόντων αὐτῶν ὅτι δαιμόνιον ἀποκτέννει αὐτούς
Tunc respondit Tobias , et dixit : Audio quia tradita est septem viris , et mortui sunt : sed et hoc audivi , quia dæmonium occidit illos .
ወይእዜኒ ፡ ባሕቲትየ ፡ አነ ፡ ለአቡየ ፡ እፈርህ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ቦእኩ ፡ ኢይሙት ፡ ወኢይወርድ ፡ ሕይወቶሙ ፡ ለአቡየ ፡ ወእምየ ፡ በፃዕር ፡ ወአልቦሙ ፡ ካልዕ ፡ ወልድ ፡ ዘይቀብሮሙ ።
Now I am the only son of my father, and I am afraid, lest I go in and die, even as those before me. For a demon loves her, which harms no man, but those which come to her. Now I fear lest I die, and bring my father’s and my mother’s life to the grave with sorrow because of me. They have no other son to bury them.”
6:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ νῦν ἐγὼ μόνος εἰμὶ τῷ πατρὶ καὶ φοβοῦμαι μὴ εἰσελθὼν ἀποθάνω καθὼς καὶ οἱ πρότεροι ὅτι δαιμόνιον φιλεῖ αὐτήν ὃ οὐκ ἀδικεῖ οὐδένα πλὴν τῶν προσαγόντων αὐτῇ καὶ νῦν ἐγὼ φοβοῦμαι μὴ ἀποθάνω καὶ κατάξω τὴν ζωὴν τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ τῆς μητρός μου μετ’ ὀδύνης ἐπ’ ἐμοὶ εἰς τὸν τάφον αὐτῶν καὶ υἱὸς ἕτερος οὐχ ὑπάρχει αὐτοῖς ὃς θάψει αὐτούς καὶ νῦν φοβοῦμαι ἐγώ ὅτι αὐτὴν οὐκ ἀδικεῖ ἀλλ’ ὃς ἂν θελήσῃ ἐγγίσαι αὐτῆς ἀποκτέννει αὐτόν μονογενής εἰμι τῷ πατρί μου μὴ ἀποθάνω καὶ κατάξω τὴν ζωὴν τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ τῆς μητρός μου μετ’ ὀδύνης ἐπ’ ἐμοὶ εἰς τὸν τάφον αὐτῶν καὶ υἱὸς ἕτερος οὐχ ὑπάρχει αὐτοῖς ἵνα θάψῃ αὐτούς
Timeo ergo , ne forte et mihi hæc eveniant : et cum sim unicus parentibus meis , deponam senectutem illorum cum tristitia ad inferos .
ወይቤሎ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ መልአክ ፡ ኢትዜከርኑ ፡ ቃለ ፡ ዘአዘዘከ ፡ አቡከ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትንሣእ ፡ ለከ ፡ ብእሲተ ፡ አምአዝማዲከ ፡ ወይእዜኒ ፡ ስምዐኒ ፡ አንተ ፡ እኁየ ፡ ወበእንተ ፡ ጋኔንሰ ፡ ኢያኅዝንከ ፡ እስመ ፡ በዝንቱ ፡ ሌሊት ፡ ትትወሀብ ፡ ለከ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ እምአዝማዲከ ።
But the angel said to him, “Don’t you remember the words which your father commanded you, that you should take a wife of your own kindred? Now hear me, brother; for she will be your wife. Don’t worry about the demon; for this night she will be given you as wife.
6:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ ἄγγελος οὐ μέμνησαι τῶν λόγων ὧν ἐνετείλατό σοι ὁ πατήρ σου ὑπὲρ τοῦ λαβεῖν σε γυναῖκα ἐκ τοῦ γένους σου καὶ νῦν ἄκουσόν μου ἄδελφε διότι σοὶ ἔσται εἰς γυναῖκα καὶ τοῦ δαιμονίου μηδένα λόγον ἔχε ὅτι τὴν νύκτα ταύτην δοθήσεταί σοι αὕτη εἰς γυναῖκα καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ οὐ μέμνησαι τὰς ἐντολὰς τοῦ πατρός σου ὅτι ἐνετείλατό σοι λαβεῖν γυναῖκα ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ πατρός σου καὶ νῦν ἄκουσόν μου ἄδελφε καὶ μὴ λόγον ἔχε τοῦ δαιμονίου τούτου καὶ λαβέ καὶ γινώσκω ἐγὼ ὅτι τὴν νύκτα ταύτην δοθήσεταί σοι γυνή
Tunc angelus Raphaël dixit ei : Audi me , et ostendam tibi qui sunt , quibus prævalere potest dæmonium .
ወሶበ ፡ ቦእከ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጽርሕከ ፡ ንሣእ ፡ ለከ ፡ ሕራረ ፡ ዕጣን ፡ ወደይ ፡ እምነ ፡ ከብዱ ፡ ወልቡ ፡ ለዝኩ ፡ ዓሣ ፡ ወአጢስ ፡ ቦቱ ።
And when you come into the bride-chamber, you shall take the ashes of incense, and shall lay upon them some of the heart and liver of the fish, and shall make smoke with them.
6:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐὰν εἰσέλθῃς εἰς τὸν νυμφῶνα λήμψῃ τέφραν θυμιαμάτων καὶ ἐπιθήσεις ἀπὸ τῆς καρδίας καὶ τοῦ ἥπατος τοῦ ἰχθύος καὶ καπνίσεις καὶ ὀσφρανθήσεται τὸ δαιμόνιον καὶ φεύξεται καὶ οὐκ ἐπανελεύσεται τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ ὅταν εἰσέλθῃς εἰς τὸν νυμφῶνα λαβὲ ἐκ τοῦ ἥπατος τοῦ ἰχθύος καὶ τὴν καρδίαν καὶ ἐπίθες ἐπὶ τὴν τέφραν τῶν θυμιαμάτων καὶ ἡ ὀσμὴ πορεύσεται καὶ ὀσφρανθήσεται τὸ δαιμόνιον καὶ φεύξεται καὶ οὐκέτι μὴ φανῇ περὶ αὐτὴν τὸν πάντα αἰῶνα
Hi namque qui conjugium ita suscipiunt , ut Deum a se et a sua mente excludant , et suæ libidini ita vacent sicut equus et mulus quibus non est intellectus : habet potestatem dæmonium super eos .
ወሶበ ፡ ፄነዎ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ጋኔን ፡ ይጐይይ ፡ ወኢይገብእ ፡ ለዓለም ፡ ወሶበ ፡ ቦእከ ፡ ኀቤሃ ፡ ጽርሑ ፡ ክልኤክሙ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ መሐሪ ፡ ወያድኅነክሙ ፡ ወይምሕረክሙ ፡ ወኢትፍርሁ ፡ እንከ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኪያክሙ ፡ አስተዳለወ ፡ እምነ ፡ ዓለም ፡ ወአንተ ፡ ታድኅና ፡ ወተሐውር ፡ ምስሌከ ፡ ወእብለከ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትረክብ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ እምኔሃ ፡ ወሰሚዖ ፡ ጦብያ ፡ አንከረ ፡ ወተለዋ ፡ ነፍሱ ፡ ኀቤሃ ፡ ጥቀ ፡ ወበጽሑ ፡ ውስተ ፡ በጣኔስ ።
The demon will smell it, and flee away, and never come again any more. But when you go near to her, both of you rise up, and cry to God who is merciful. He will save you, and have mercy on you. Don’t be afraid, for she was prepared for you from the beginning; and you will save her, and she will go with you. And I suppose that you will have children with her.” When Tobias heard these things, he loved her, and his soul was strongly joined to her.
6:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅταν δὲ προσπορεύῃ αὐτῇ ἐγέρθητε ἀμφότεροι καὶ βοήσατε πρὸς τὸν ἐλεήμονα θεόν καὶ σώσει ὑμᾶς καὶ ἐλεήσει μὴ φοβοῦ ὅτι σοὶ αὐτὴ ἡτοιμασμένη ἦν ἀπὸ τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ σὺ αὐτὴν σώσεις καὶ πορεύσεται μετὰ σοῦ καὶ ὑπολαμβάνω ὅτι σοὶ ἔσται ἐξ αὐτῆς παιδία καὶ ὅταν μέλλῃς γίνεσθαι μετ’ αὐτῆς ἐξεγέρθητε πρῶτον ἀμφότεροι καὶ προσεύξασθε καὶ δεήθητε τοῦ κυρίου τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἵνα ἔλεος γένηται καὶ σωτηρία ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς καὶ μὴ φοβοῦ σοὶ γάρ ἐστιν μεμερισμένη πρὸ τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ σὺ αὐτὴν σώσεις καὶ μετὰ σοῦ πορεύσεται καὶ ὑπολαμβάνω ὅτι ἔσονταί σοι ἐξ αὐτῆς παιδία καὶ ἔσονταί σοι ὡς ἀδελφοί μὴ λόγον ἔχε
Tu autem cum acceperis eam , ingressus cubiculum , per tres dies continens esto ab ea , et nihil aliud nisi orationibus vacabis cum ea .
— And when you approach her, both of you rise up and cry out to the merciful God, and he will save you and have mercy on you. Do not be afraid, for she was destined for you from of old; and you shall save her, and she shall go with you; and I suppose that you shall have children by her. And when you are about to be with her, first rise up, both of you, and pray and beseech the Lord of heaven, that mercy and deliverance may come upon you. And do not be afraid, for she has been allotted to you before the world began; and you shall save her, and she shall go with you; and I suppose that you shall have children by her, and they shall be to you as brothers. Take no thought of it.
6:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὡς ἤκουσεν Τωβιας ταῦτα ἐφίλησεν αὐτήν καὶ ἡ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ ἐκολλήθη αὐτῇ σφόδρα καὶ ὅτε ἤκουσεν Τωβιας τῶν λόγων Ραφαηλ καὶ ὅτι ἔστιν αὐτῷ ἀδελφὴ ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματος τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ λίαν ἠγάπησεν αὐτήν καὶ ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ ἐκολλήθη εἰς αὐτήν
Ipsa autem nocte , incenso jecore piscis , fugabitur dæmonium .
— And when Tobias heard these things, he loved her, and his soul was joined fast to her. And when Tobias heard the words of Raphael, and that she was his kinswoman, of the seed of the house of his father, he loved her exceedingly, and his heart was knit to her.
