ጽነዕ፡ ውእቱ፡ በውስተ፡ ቀትል፡ ኢያሱ፡ ወለደ፡ ነዌ፡ ወተለዎ፡ እምነ፡ ሙሴ፡ ተነብዮት፡ ወኮነ፡ በከመ፡ ስሙ፡ ዐቢየ፡ ወአድኀኖሙ፡ ለኅሩያኒሁ፡ ወተበቀለ፡ ፀሮሙ፡ ከመ፡ ያውርሶሙ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ምድሮሙ።
Joshua the son of Nun was valiant in war, And was the successor of Moses in prophecies: Who according to his name was made great For the saving of God’s elect, To take vengeance of the enemies that rose up against them, That he might give Israel their inheritance.
46:2
ὡς ἐδοξάσθη ἐν τῷ ἐπᾶραι χεῖρας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τῷ ἐκτεῖναι ῥομφαίαν ἐπὶ πόλεις
maximus in salutem electorum Dei, expugnare insurgentes hostes, ut consequeretur hæreditatem Israël.
ወተሰብሐ፡ ሶበ፡ አንሥአ፡ እዴሁ፡ ወሶበ፡ ቈልቈለ፡ ኲናተ፡ ላዕለ፡ አህጉሪሆሙ።
How was he glorified in the lifting up his hands, And in stretching out his sword against the cities!
46:3
τίς πρότερος αὐτοῦ οὕτως ἔστη τοὺς γὰρ πολέμους κυρίου αὐτὸς ἐπήγαγεν
Quam gloriam adeptus est in tollendo manus suas, et jactando contra civitates rhomphæas !
መኑ፡ እምቅድሜሁ፡ ዘኮነ፡ ከማሁ፡ ወለሊሁ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ጸብአ፡ ሎሙ፡ ፀሮሙ።
Who before him so stood fast? For the Lord himself brought his enemies to him.
46:4
οὐχὶ ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ ἐνεποδίσθη ὁ ἥλιος καὶ μία ἡμέρα ἐγενήθη πρὸς δύο
Quis ante illum sic restitit ? nam hostes ipse Dominus perduxit.
አኮኑ፡ በእዴሁ፡ ቆመት፡ ፀሓይ፡ ወአሐቲ፡ ዕለት፡ ሰኑየ፡ መዋዕለ፡ ኮነት።
Did not the sun go back by his hand? And did not one day become as two?
46:5
ἐπεκαλέσατο τὸν ὕψιστον δυνάστην ἐν τῷ θλῖψαι αὐτὸν ἐχθροὺς κυκλόθεν καὶ ἐπήκουσεν αὐτοῦ μέγας κύριος ἐν λίθοις χαλάζης δυνάμεως κραταιᾶς
An non in iracundia ejus impeditus est sol, et una dies facta est quasi duo ?
ወጸውዖ፡ ለልዑል፡ ወኀያል፡ ሶበ፡ አመንደብዎ፡ ፀሩ፡ እምዐውዱ፤ወ[አውሥኦ]፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዐቢይ፡ በእብነ፡ በረድ፡ ወበኀይል፡ ጽኑዕ።
He called upon the Most High and Mighty One, When his foes pressed him round about; And the great Lord heard him.
46:6
κατέρραξεν ἐπ’ ἔθνος πόλεμον καὶ ἐν καταβάσει ἀπώλεσεν ἀνθεστηκότας ἵνα γνῶσιν ἔθνη πανοπλίαν αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἐναντίον κυρίου ὁ πόλεμος αὐτοῦ
Invocavit Altissimum potentem, in oppugnando inimicos undique : et audivit illum magnus et sanctus Deus, in saxis grandinis virtutis valde fortis.
ወአዝነመ፡ ላዕለ፡ ሕዝብ፡ እለ፡ ጸብእዎሙ፡ በውስተ፡ ጸድፍ፡ አጥፍኦሙ፡ ለእለ፡ ተቃተልዎሙ፡ ከመ፡ ያእምሩ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ኀይሎ፡ እስመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ውእቱ፡ ዘይጸብኦሙ፡ ወአትለወ፡ ምስሌሆሙ፡ ኀይሎ።
With hailstones of mighty power He caused war to break violently upon the nation, And in the going down he destroyed those who resisted; That the nations might know his armor, How that he fought in the sight of the Lord; For he followed after the Mighty One.
46:7
καὶ γὰρ ἐπηκολούθησεν ὀπίσω δυνάστου καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις Μωυσέως ἐποίησεν ἔλεος αὐτὸς καὶ Χαλεβ υἱὸς Ιεφοννη ἀντιστῆναι ἔναντι ἐκκλησίας κωλῦσαι λαὸν ἀπὸ ἁμαρτίας καὶ κοπάσαι γογγυσμὸν πονηρίας
Impetum fecit contra gentem hostilem, et in descensu perdidit contrarios :
ወበመዋዕለ፡ ሙሴኒ፡ ገብረ፡ ሣህሎ፡ ምስሌሆሙ፡ ውእቱ፡ ወካሌብ፡ ወልደ፡ ዮፎኒ፡ ወተቃወሙ፡ ቅድመ፡ ፀር፡ ወከልእዎሙ፡ ለሕዝብ፡ ጌጋየ፡ ወአኅደግዎሙ፡ እኩየ፡ ነጐርጓረ።
Also in the time of Moses he did a work of mercy, He and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, In that they withstood the adversary, Hindered the people from sin, And stilled the murmuring of wickedness.
46:8
καὶ αὐτοὶ δύο ὄντες διεσώθησαν ἀπὸ ἑξακοσίων χιλιάδων πεζῶν εἰσαγαγεῖν αὐτοὺς εἰς κληρονομίαν εἰς γῆν ῥέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι
ut cognoscant gentes potentiam ejus, quia contra Deum pugnare non est facile. Et secutus est a tergo potentis :
ወእሙንቱ፡ ዳእሙ፡ ክልኤሆሙ፡ እለ፡ ድኅኑ፡ እምነ፡ ስሳ፡ እልፍ፡ አጋራን፡ ወቦኡ፡ ምድረ፡ እንተ፡ ትውሕዝ፡ ሐሊበ፡ ወመዓረ።
And of six hundred thousand people on foot, they two alone were preserved To bring them into the heritage, Even into a land flowing with milk and honey.
46:9
καὶ ἔδωκεν ὁ κύριος τῷ Χαλεβ ἰσχύν καὶ ἕως γήρους διέμεινεν αὐτῷ ἐπιβῆναι αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸ ὕψος τῆς γῆς καὶ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ κατέσχεν κληρονομίαν
et in diebus Moysi misericordiam fecit, ipse, et Caleb filius Jephone, stare contra hostem, et prohibere gentem a peccatis, et perfringere murmur malitiæ.
ወወሀቦ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ኀይለ፡ ለካሌብ፡ ወነበረ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ እስከ፡ አመ፡ ይልህቅ፡ ወአዕረጎ፡ ውስተ፡ መልዕልተ፡ ምድር፡ ወውሉዱ፡ ተካፈሉ፡ ርስቶሙ።
Also the Lord gave strength to Caleb, And it remained with him to his old age; So that he entered upon the height of the land, And his seed obtained it for a heritage:
46:10
ὅπως ἴδωσιν πάντες οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ὅτι καλὸν τὸ πορεύεσθαι ὀπίσω κυρίου
Et ipsi duo constituti a periculo liberati sunt a numero sexcentorum millium peditum, inducere illos in hæreditatem, in terram quæ manat lac et mel.
ከመ፡ ይርአዮ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ ከመ፡ ሠናይ፡ ተሊዎቱ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር።
That all the children of Israel might see That it is good to walk after the Lord.
46:11
καὶ οἱ κριταί ἕκαστος τῷ αὐτοῦ ὀνόματι ὅσων οὐκ ἐξεπόρνευσεν ἡ καρδία καὶ ὅσοι οὐκ ἀπεστράφησαν ἀπὸ κυρίου εἴη τὸ μνημόσυνον αὐτῶν ἐν εὐλογίαις
Et dedit Dominus ipsi Caleb fortitudinem, et usque in senectutem permansit illi virtus, ut ascenderet in excelsum terræ locum, et semen ipsius obtinuit hæreditatem,
ወመኳንንቲሆሙኒ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ በበአስማቲሆሙ፡ ወኵሎሙ፡ እለ፡ ኢዘመዎ፡ ልቦሙ፡ ወኵሎሙ፡ እለ፡ ኢኀደግዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ቡሩክ፡ ለይኩን፡ ዝክሮሙ።
Also the judges, every one by his name, All whose hearts went not a whoring, And who turned not away from the Lord, May their memorial be blessed.
46:12
τὰ ὀστᾶ αὐτῶν ἀναθάλοι ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτῶν καὶ τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῶν ἀντικαταλλασσόμενον ἐφ’ υἱοῖς δεδοξασμένων αὐτῶν
ut viderent omnes filii Israël quia bonum est obsequi sancto Deo.
ወይትፈሣሕ፡ አዕጽምቲሆሙ፡ በኀበ፡ ሀለዉ፡ ወይትባረኩ፡ ውሉዶሙ፡ ወይክበሩ።
May their bones flourish again out of their place, And may the name of those who have been honored be renewed upon their children.
46:13
ἠγαπημένος ὑπὸ κυρίου αὐτοῦ Σαμουηλ προφήτης κυρίου κατέστησεν βασιλείαν καὶ ἔχρισεν ἄρχοντας ἐπὶ τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ
Et judices singuli suo nomine, quorum non est corruptum cor, qui non aversi sunt a Domino,
ሳሙኤልኒ፡ ፍቁር፡ ውእቱ፡ በኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወነቢይ፡ ውእቱ፡ በኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወያነግሥ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ወይቀብእ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ለሕዝቡ።
Samuel, the prophet of the Lord, beloved of his Lord, Established a kingdom, and anointed princes over his people.
46:14
ἐν νόμῳ κυρίου ἔκρινεν συναγωγήν καὶ ἐπεσκέψατο κύριος τὸν Ιακωβ
ut sit memoria illorum in benedictione, et ossa eorum pullulent de loco suo :
ወበሕገ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡[ኰነነ፡]፡ ትእይንተ፡ ወተሣሀሎ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለያዕቆብ።
By the law of the Lord he judged the congregation, And the Lord visited Jacob.
46:15
ἐν πίστει αὐτοῦ ἠκριβάσθη προφήτης καὶ ἐγνώσθη ἐν ῥήμασιν αὐτοῦ πιστὸς ὁράσεως
et nomen eorum permaneat in æternum, permanens ad filios illorum, sanctorum virorum gloria.
ወበሃይማኖቱ፡ ጸንዐ፡ ተነብዮ፡ ነቢይ፡ ወአስተርአየ፡ በቃሉ፡ ራእየ፡ ምእመን።
By his faithfulness he was proved to be a prophet, And by his words he was known to be faithful in vision.
46:16
καὶ ἐπεκαλέσατο τὸν κύριον δυνάστην ἐν τῷ θλῖψαι ἐχθροὺς αὐτοῦ κυκλόθεν ἐν προσφορᾷ ἀρνὸς γαλαθηνοῦ
Dilectus a Domino Deo suo Samuel, propheta Domini, renovavit imperium, et unxit principes in gente sua.
ወጸውዖ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ኀያል፡ ሶበ፡ አመንደብዎ፡ ፀሩ፡ ወዐገትዎ፡ በመሥዋዕተ፡ ማሕስዐ፡ በግዕ።
Also when his enemies pressed him round about He called upon the Lord, the Mighty One, With the offering of the sucking lamb.
46:17
καὶ ἐβρόντησεν ἀπ’ οὐρανοῦ ὁ κύριος καὶ ἐν ἤχῳ μεγάλῳ ἀκουστὴν ἐποίησεν τὴν φωνὴν αὐτοῦ
In lege Domini congregationem judicavit, et vidit Deus Jacob : et in fide sua probatus est propheta,
ወአንጐድጐደ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በሰማይ፡ ወበዐቢይ፡ ፀዓዕ፡ ገብረ፡ ድምፀ፡ ቃሉ።
And the Lord thundered from heaven, And with a mighty sound made his voice to be heard.
46:18
καὶ ἐξέτριψεν ἡγουμένους Τυρίων καὶ πάντας ἄρχοντας Φυλιστιιμ
et cognitus est in verbis suis fidelis, quia vidit Deum lucis.
ወቀጥቀጦሙ፡ ለነገሥተ፡ ጢሮስ፡ ወለኵሎሙ፡ ነገሥተ፡ ፍልስጥኤም።
And he utterly destroyed the rulers of the Tyrians, And all the princes of the Philistines.
46:19
καὶ πρὸ καιροῦ κοιμήσεως αἰῶνος ἐπεμαρτύρατο ἔναντι κυρίου καὶ χριστοῦ αὐτοῦ χρήματα καὶ ἕως ὑποδημάτων ἀπὸ πάσης σαρκὸς οὐκ εἴληφα καὶ οὐκ ἐνεκάλεσεν αὐτῷ ἄνθρωπος
Et invocavit Dominum omnipotentem, in oppugnando hostes circumstantes undique, in oblatione agni inviolati.
ወእንበለ፡ ይብጻሕ፡ ዕለተ፡ ሞቱ፡ አስምዖ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወለመሲሑ፡ እምንዋዮሙ፡ እስከ፡ አሣእኒሆሙ፡ ከመ፡ ኢይነሥአ፡ እምኔሆሙ፡ እምኵሎሙ፡ ወአልቦ፡ እምውስቴቶሙ፡ ዘግእዞ።
Also before the time of his long sleep He made protestations in the sight of the lord and his anointed, I have not taken any man’s goods, so much as a shoe: And no man did accuse him.
46:20
καὶ μετὰ τὸ ὑπνῶσαι αὐτὸν προεφήτευσεν καὶ ὑπέδειξεν βασιλεῖ τὴν τελευτὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνύψωσεν ἐκ γῆς τὴν φωνὴν αὐτοῦ ἐν προφητείᾳ ἐξαλεῖψαι ἀνομίαν λαοῦ
Et intonuit de cælo Dominus, et in sonitu magno auditam fecit vocem suam :
ወተነበየ፡ እምድኅረ፡ ሞተ፡ ወነገረ፡ ሞቶ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ወአ[ን]ሥአ፡ ቃሎ፡ እምውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ወበተነብዮቱ፡ አደምሰሰ፡ ጌጋዮሙ፡ ለሕዝብ።
And after he fell asleep he prophesied, And showed the king his end, And lifted up his voice from the earth in prophecy, To blot out the wickedness of the people.
