μὴ ἐπιθύμει τέκνων πλῆθος ἀχρήστων μηδὲ εὐφραίνου ἐπὶ υἱοῖς ἀσεβέσιν
Ne jucunderis in filiis impiis, si multiplicentur : nec oblecteris super ipsos, si non est timor Dei in illis.
ወኢትፍቅድ፡ ብዙኀ፡ ውሉደ፡ እለ፡ አልቦሙ፡ በቊዐ፡ ወኢትትፌሣሕ፡ በእኩይ፡ ውሉድ።
Desire not a multitude of unprofitable children, Neither delight in ungodly sons.
16:2
ἐὰν πληθύνωσιν μὴ εὐφραίνου ἐπ’ αὐτοῖς εἰ μή ἐστιν φόβος κυρίου μετ’ αὐτῶν
Non credas vitæ illorum, et ne respexeris in labores eorum.
ወለእመኒ፡ በዝኁ፡ ኢትትፌሣሕ፡ ቦሙ፡ ለእመ፡ አልቦሙ፡ ፍርሀተ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ላዕሌሆሙ።
If they multiply, delight not in them, Except the fear of the Lord be with them.
16:3
μὴ ἐμπιστεύσῃς τῇ ζωῇ αὐτῶν καὶ μὴ ἔπεχε ἐπὶ τὸ πλῆθος αὐτῶν κρείσσων γὰρ εἷς ἢ χίλιοι καὶ ἀποθανεῖν ἄτεκνον ἢ ἔχειν τέκνα ἀσεβῆ
Melior est enim unus timens Deum, quam mille filii impii :
ኢትትአመኖሙ፡ በሕይወቶሙ፡ ወኢያስተፌሥሕከ፡ ብዝኆሙ። ይኄይስ፡ አሐዱ፡ እምዐሠርቱ፡ ምእት፡ ወይኄይስ፡ መዋቲ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ ውሉድ፡ እምወሊደ፡ እኩይ።
Trust not you in their life, Neither rely on their condition: For one is better than a thousand; And to die childless than to have ungodly children.
16:4
ἀπὸ γὰρ ἑνὸς συνετοῦ συνοικισθήσεται πόλις φυλὴ δὲ ἀνόμων ἐρημωθήσεται
et utile est mori sine filiis, quam relinquere filios impios.
እስመ፡ በ፩ጠቢብ፡ ትጸንዕ፡ ሀገር፡ ወሕዝቦሙሰ፡ ለኃጥኣን፡ ይጠፍኡ።
For from one that has understanding will a city be peopled; But a race of wicked men will be made desolate.
16:5
πολλὰ τοιαῦτα ἑόρακεν ὁ ὀφθαλμός μου καὶ ἰσχυρότερα τούτων ἀκήκοεν τὸ οὖς μου
Ab uno sensato inhabitabitur patria : tribus impiorum deseretur.
ብዙኀ፡ ዘከመዝ፡ ርእየት፡ ዐይንየ፡ ወዘየዐቢ፡ እምዝ፡ ሰምዐት፡ እዝንየ።
Many such things I have seen with my eyes; And my ear has heard mightier things than these.
16:6
ἐν συναγωγῇ ἁμαρτωλῶν ἐκκαυθήσεται πῦρ καὶ ἐν ἔθνει ἀπειθεῖ ἐξεκαύθη ὀργή
Multa talia vidit oculis meus, et fortiora horum audivit auris mea.
ውስተ፡ ማኅበሮሙ፡ ለኃጥኣን፡ ትነድድ፡ እሳት፡ ወላዕለ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ዐላዊያን፡ ትነድድ፡ መዐት።
In the congregation of sinners will a fire be kindled; And in a disobedient nation wrath is kindled.
16:7
οὐκ ἐξιλάσατο περὶ τῶν ἀρχαίων γιγάντων οἳ ἀπέστησαν τῇ ἰσχύι αὐτῶν
In synagoga peccantium exardebit ignis, et in gente incredibili exardescet ira.
ወቀድምትኒ፡ እለ፡ ይርባሕ፡ ኢያድኀኑ፡ ነፍሶሙ፡ እለ፡ ተአመኑ፡ በኀይሎሙ።
He was not pacified toward the giants of old time, Who revolted in their strength.
16:8
οὐκ ἐφείσατο περὶ τῆς παροικίας Λωτ οὓς ἐβδελύξατο διὰ τὴν ὑπερηφανίαν αὐτῶν
Non exoraverunt pro peccatis suis antiqui gigantes, qui destructi sunt confidentes suæ virtuti.
ወኢመሐካ፡ ለብሔር፡ ኀበ፡ ነበረ፡ ሎጥ፡ እለ፡ አዕበዩ፡ ርእሶሙ፡ ወአስቆረርዎ፡ ለሎጥ።
He spared not those with whom Lot sojourned, Whom he abhorred for their pride.
16:9
οὐκ ἠλέησεν ἔθνος ἀπωλείας τοὺς ἐξηρμένους ἐν ἁμαρτίαις αὐτῶν
Et non pepercit peregrinationi Lot, et execratus est eos præ superbia verbi illorum.
ወኢተሣሀሎ፡ ለሕዝብ፡ ኃጥእ፡ እለ፡ ተሠርዉ፡ በኃጢአቶሙ፤
He pitied not the people of perdition, Who were taken away in their sins.
16:10
καὶ οὕτως ἑξακοσίας χιλιάδας πεζῶν τοὺς ἐπισυναχθέντας ἐν σκληροκαρδίᾳ αὐτῶν
Non misertus est illis, gentem totam perdens, et extollentem se in peccatis suis.
ስሳ፡ እልፍ፡ አጋር፡ እሙንቱ፡ እለ፡ ተጋብኡ፡ ወአእከዩ፡ ልቦሙ።
And in like manner the six hundred thousand footmen, Who were gathered together in the hardness of their hearts.
16:11
κἂν ᾖ εἷς σκληροτράχηλος θαυμαστὸν τοῦτο εἰ ἀθῳωθήσεται ἔλεος γὰρ καὶ ὀργὴ παρ’ αὐτῷ δυνάστης ἐξιλασμῶν καὶ ἐκχέων ὀργήν
Et sicut sexcenta millia peditum, qui congregati sunt in duritia cordis sui : et si unus fuisset cervicatus, mirum si fuisset immunis.
ወእመኒ፡ ቦ፡ አሐዱ፡ ዘአግዘፈ፡ ክሳዶ፡ ወውእቱኒ፡ ነኪር፡ ለእመ፡ ድኅነ፡ እስመ፡ ሣህልኒ፡ ወመቅሰፍትኒ፡ እምኀቤሁ፡ ወይክል፡ ተሣህሎ፡ ወይክል፡ አምጽኦ፡ መቅሠፍት።
Even if there be one stiff-necked person, It is marvel if he will be unpunished: For mercy and wrath are with him; He is mighty to forgive, and he pours out wrath.
16:12
κατὰ τὸ πολὺ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ οὕτως καὶ πολὺς ὁ ἔλεγχος αὐτοῦ ἄνδρα κατὰ τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ κρινεῖ
Misericordia enim et ira est cum illo : potens exoratio, et effundens iram.
በአምጣነ፡ ብዝኀ፡ ምሕረቱ፡ ከማሁ፡ ተግሣጹ፡ ወይፈድዮ፡ ለሰብእ፡ በከመ፡ ምግባሩ።
As his mercy is great, so is his correction also: He judges a man according to his works.
16:13
οὐκ ἐκφεύξεται ἐν ἁρπάγματι ἁμαρτωλός καὶ οὐ μὴ καθυστερήσει ὑπομονὴ εὐσεβοῦς
Secundum misericordiam suam, sic correptio illius homines secundum opera sua judicat.
ወኢያመሥጥ፡ ኃጥእ፡ እምነ፡ ጻሕፍ፡ ወኢየሀጕል፡ ጻድቅ፡ ዕሴተ፡ ትዕግሥቱ።
The sinner will not escape with his plunder; And the perseverance of the godly will not be frustrated.
16:14
πάσῃ ἐλεημοσύνῃ ποιήσει τόπον ἕκαστος κατὰ τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ εὑρήσει
Non effugiet in rapina peccator, et non retardabit sufferentia misericordiam facientis.
ኵሉ፡ ምጽዋተ፡ ሣህለ፡ ያመጽእ፡ ወኵሉ፡ ሰብእ፡ ይረክብ፡ ዘከመ፡ ግዕዙ።
He will make room for every work of mercy; Each man will find according to his works.
16:15—
Omnis misericordia faciet locum unicuique, secundum meritum operum suorum, et secundum intellectum peregrinationis ipsius.
—
Every act of mercy shall make room for each one, according to the merit of his works, and according to the understanding of his sojourning.
16:17
μὴ εἴπῃς ὅτι ἀπὸ κυρίου κρυβήσομαι καὶ ἐξ ὕψους τίς μου μνησθήσεται ἐν λαῷ πλείονι οὐ μὴ γνωσθῶ τίς γὰρ ἡ ψυχή μου ἐν ἀμετρήτῳ κτίσει
in populo magno non agnoscar : quæ est enim anima mea in tam immensa creatura ?
ኢትበል፡ ኣመሥጥ፡ እምእግዚአብሔር፡ ወአልቦ፡ ዘይረክበኒ፡ በሰማያት፡ ወበውስተ፡ ብዙኅ፡ አሕዛብ፡ አልቦ፡ ዘያአምረኒ፡ ወምንትኑ፡ ኈልቋ፡ ለነፍስየ፡ በውስተ፡ ኵሉ፡ ዓለም።
Don’t say, I shall be hidden from the Lord; And who will remember me from on high? I will not be known among so many people; For what is my soul in a boundless creation?
16:18
ἰδοὺ ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἄβυσσος καὶ γῆ ἐν τῇ ἐπισκοπῇ αὐτοῦ σαλευθήσονται
Ecce cælum et cæli cælorum, abyssus, et universa terra, et quæ in eis sunt, in conspectu illius commovebuntur.
ናሁ፡ ሰማይ፡ ወሰማይኒ፡ ዘመልዕልተ፡ ሰማይ፡ ወቀላይኒ፡ ወምድርኒ፡ ኵሉዝ፡ ያድለቀልቅ፡ እመከመ፡ ሐወጾሙ።
Behold, the heaven, and the heaven of heavens, The deep, and the earth, will be moved when he shall visit.
16:19
ἅμα τὰ ὄρη καὶ τὰ θεμέλια τῆς γῆς ἐν τῷ ἐπιβλέψαι εἰς αὐτὰ τρόμῳ συσσείονται
Montes simul, et colles, et fundamenta terræ, cum conspexerit illa Deus, tremore concutientur.
ወአድባርኒ፡ ወመሠረተ፡ ምድርኒ፡ እምከመ፡ ነጸሮሙ፡ ይርዕዱ፡ ወያድለቀልቁ።
The mountains and the foundations of the earth together Are shaken with trembling, when he looks upon them.
16:20
καὶ ἐπ’ αὐτοῖς οὐ διανοηθήσεται καρδία καὶ τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ τίς ἐνθυμηθήσεται
Et in omnibus his insensatum est cor, et omne cor intelligitur ab illo.
ወበዝኒ፡ ኢይኄልዮ፡ ልብ፡ መኑ፡ ይክል፡ አእምሮ፡ ፍናዊሁ።
And no heart will think upon these things: And who shall conceive his ways?
16:21
καὶ καταιγίς ἣν οὐκ ὄψεται ἄνθρωπος τὰ δὲ πλείονα τῶν ἔργων αὐτοῦ ἐν ἀποκρύφοις
Et vias illius quis intelligit, et procellam quam nec oculus videbit hominis ?
ወዐውሎሂ፡ ዘኢይሬኢ፡ እጓለ፡ እመሕያው፡ ወዘይበዝኅ፡ ግብሩ፡ ኅቡእ፡ ውእቱ።
And there is a tempest which no man will see; Yes, the more part of his works are hid.
16:22
ἔργα δικαιοσύνης τίς ἀναγγελεῖ ἢ τίς ὑπομενεῖ μακρὰν γὰρ ἡ διαθήκη
Nam plurima illius opera sunt in absconsis : sed opera justitiæ ejus quis enuntiabit, aut quis sustinebit ? longe enim est testamentum a quibusdam, et interrogatio omnium in consummatione est.
ግብረ፡ ጽድቅ፡ መኑ፡ ይሜህር፡ ወመኑ፡ ይጸንሕ፡ ተስፋሐ፡ ለምሕረቱ።
Who will declare the works of his righteousness? Or who will endure them? For his covenant is afar off.
16:23
ἐλαττούμενος καρδίᾳ διανοεῖται ταῦτα καὶ ἀνὴρ ἄφρων καὶ πλανώμενος διανοεῖται μωρά
Qui minoratur corde cogitat inania, et vir imprudens et errans cogitat stulta.
ሕጹጸ፡ ልብ፡ ያኄሊ፡ ከመዝ፡ ብእሲ፡ አብድ፡ ወጊጉይ፡ ይኄሊ፡ እበደ።
He that is lacking in understanding thinks upon these things; And an unwise and erring man thinks follies.
16:24
ἄκουσόν μου τέκνον καὶ μάθε ἐπιστήμην καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν λόγων μου πρόσεχε τῇ καρδίᾳ σου
Audi me, fili, et disce disciplinam sensus, et in verbis meis attende in corde tuo :
ስምዐኒ፡ ወልድ፡ ወተመሀር፡ ጥበበ፡ ወአፅምእ፡ እምልብከ፡ ለነገር።
My son, hearken to me, and learn knowledge, And give heed to my words with your heart.
16:25
ἐκφανῶ ἐν σταθμῷ παιδείαν καὶ ἐν ἀκριβείᾳ ἀπαγγελῶ ἐπιστήμην
et dicam in æquitate disciplinam, et scrutabor enarrare sapientiam : et in verbis meis attende in corde tuo, et dico in æquitate spiritus virtutes quas posuit Deus in opera sua ab initio, et in veritate enuntio scientiam ejus.
አርእያ፡ ለጥበብከ፡ ደሊወከ፡ በመዳልው፡ ወጠይቅ፡ ነገራ፡ ለትምህርትከ።
I will show forth instruction by weight, And declare knowledge exactly.
16:26
ἐν κρίσει κυρίου τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς καὶ ἀπὸ ποιήσεως αὐτῶν διέστειλεν μερίδας αὐτῶν
In judicio Dei opera ejus ab initio, et ab institutione ipsorum distinxit partes illorum, et initia eorum in gentibus suis.
ግብሩ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ተፈጥረ፡ በኵነኔሁ፡ ወፈሊጦሙ፡ ሥርዐቶሙ፡ በበ፡ በሓውርቲሆሙ።
In the judgement of the Lord are his works from the beginning; And from the making of them he disposed the parts thereof.
16:27
ἐκόσμησεν εἰς αἰῶνα τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς ἀρχὰς αὐτῶν εἰς γενεὰς αὐτῶν οὔτε ἐπείνασαν οὔτε ἐκοπίασαν καὶ οὐκ ἐξέλιπον ἀπὸ τῶν ἔργων αὐτῶν
Ornavit in æternum opera illorum : nec esurierunt, nec laboraverunt, et non destiterunt ab operibus suis.
ወሠርዐ፡ ኵሎ፡ ግብሮ፡ በዘይቀውም፡ ዓለም፡ ወአሕዛቢሆሙ፡ በበፍጥረቶሙ፡ ዘኢይጸምእ፡ ወዘኢይርኅብ፡ ወዘኢየኀልቅ፡ ግብሮሙ።
He garnished his works forever, And the beginnings of them to their generations: They neither hunger, nor are weary, And they cease not from their works.
16:28
ἕκαστος τὸν πλησίον αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἐξέθλιψεν καὶ ἕως αἰῶνος οὐκ ἀπειθήσουσιν τοῦ ῥήματος αὐτοῦ
Unusquisque proximum sibi non angustiabit in æternum :
ወኢይጠወቅ፡ አሐዱ፡ ምስለ፡ ካልኡ፡ ወለዓለም፡ ኢይትገሐሡ፡ እምነ፡ ቃሉ።
No one thrusteth aside his neighbor; And they will never disobey his word.
16:29
καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα κύριος εἰς τὴν γῆν ἐπέβλεψεν καὶ ἐνέπλησεν αὐτὴν τῶν ἀγαθῶν αὐτοῦ
non sis incredibilis verbo illius.
ወእምዝ፡ ነጸረ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ወአጽገባ፡ እምነ፡ (ኵሉ)፡ በረከቱ።
After this also the Lord looked upon the earth, And filled it with his blessings.
16:30
ψυχῇ παντὸς ζῴου ἐκάλυψεν τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτῆς καὶ εἰς αὐτὴν ἡ ἀποστροφὴ αὐτῶν
Post hæc Deus in terram respexit, et implevit illam bonis suis :
መንፈሰ፡ ኵሉ፡ ዘሕያው፡ መልአ፡ ላዕለ፡ ምድር፡ ወውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ምግባኢሆሙ።
All manner of living things covered the face thereof; And into it is their return.
