μακάριος ἀνήρ ὃς οὐκ ὠλίσθησεν ἐν τῷ στόματι αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐ κατενύγη ἐν λύπῃ ἁμαρτιῶν
Beatus vir qui non est lapsus verbo ex ore suo, et non est stimulatus in tristitia delicti.

14:2
μακάριος οὗ οὐ κατέγνω ἡ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ ὃς οὐκ ἔπεσεν ἀπὸ τῆς ἐλπίδος αὐτοῦ
Felix qui non habuit animi sui tristitiam, et non excidit a spe sua.
ብፁዕ፡ ዘኢየሐዝን፡ ነፍሶ፡ ወዘኢሀጕል፡ ተስፋሁ።
Blessed is he whose soul does not condemn him, And who is not fallen from his hope.
14:3
ἀνδρὶ μικρολόγῳ οὐ καλὸς ὁ πλοῦτος καὶ ἀνθρώπῳ βασκάνῳ ἵνα τί χρήματα
Viro cupido et tenaci sine ratione est substantia : et homini livido ad quid aurum ?
ለብእሲ፡ ዘኢየአምር፡ ቃለ፡ ኢይደልዎ፡ ብዕል፡ ወለብእሲ፡ ጠዋዒ፡ ኢይደልዎ፡ ንዋይ።
Riches are not comely for a niggard; And what should an envious man do with money?
14:4
ὁ συνάγων ἀπὸ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτοῦ συνάγει ἄλλοις καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἀγαθοῖς αὐτοῦ τρυφήσουσιν ἕτεροι
Qui acervat ex animo suo injuste, aliis congregat, et in bonis illius alius luxuriabitur.
ዘይቄቅያ፡ ለነፍሱ፡ ይዘግብ፡ ለባዕድ፡ ወካልእ፡ ይፌግዕ፡ በንዋዩ።
He that gathers by taking from his own soul gathers for others; And others will revel in his goods.
14:5
ὁ πονηρὸς ἑαυτῷ τίνι ἀγαθὸς ἔσται καὶ οὐ μὴ εὐφρανθήσεται ἐν τοῖς χρήμασιν αὐτοῦ
Qui sibi nequam est, cui alii bonus erit ? et non jucundabitur in bonis suis.
ዘለነፍሱ፡ ይጠውዕ፡ ለመኑ፡ ሀለዎ፡ ይጸጉ፡ ወዘኢይትፌሣሕ፡ በንዋዩ።
He that is evil to himself, to whom will he be good? And he will not rejoice in his possessions.
14:6
τοῦ βασκαίνοντος ἑαυτὸν οὐκ ἔστιν πονηρότερος καὶ τοῦτο ἀνταπόδομα τῆς κακίας αὐτοῦ
Qui sibi invidet, nihil est illo nequius : et hæc redditio est malitiæ illius.
ወአልቦ፡ ዘየአክዮ፡ እምዘይጠውያ፡ ለነፍሱ፡ ወውእቱ፡ ይከውኖ፡ ፍዳሃ፡ ለእከይሁ።
There is none more evil than he that envies himself; And this is a recompense of his wickedness.
14:7
κἂν εὖ ποιῇ ἐν λήθῃ ποιεῖ καὶ ἐπ’ ἐσχάτων ἐκφαίνει τὴν κακίαν αὐτοῦ
Et si bene fecerit, ignoranter et non volens facit : et in novissimo manifestat malitiam suam.
ወሶበኒ፡ ያሤኒ፡ አመ፡ ረስዐ፡ ዳእሙ፡ ያሤኒ፡ ወድኅረ፡ ያዔውቅ፡ እከይሁ።
Even if he does good, he does it in forgetfulness; And at the last he shows forth his wickedness.
14:8
πονηρὸς ὁ βασκαίνων ὀφθαλμῷ ἀποστρέφων πρόσωπον καὶ ὑπερορῶν ψυχάς
Nequam est oculus lividi : et avertens faciem suam, et despiciens animam suam.
እኩይ፡ ዐይነ፡ ጠዋዒ፡ ዘይመይጥ፡ ገጾ፡ ይትዔወር፡ ነፍሶ።
Evil is he that envies with his eye, Turning away the face, and despising the souls of men.
14:9
πλεονέκτου ὀφθαλμὸς οὐκ ἐμπίπλαται μερίδι καὶ ἀδικία πονηρὰ ἀναξηραίνει ψυχήν
Insatiabilis oculus cupidi in parte iniquitatis : non satiabitur donec consumat arefaciens animam suam.
ኢያጸግቦ፡ ክፍሉ፡ ለዐይነ፡ ሥሡዕ፡ ወእከየ፡ ልቡ፡ ያቋቊዖ፡ ለአዕፅምቲሁ።
A covetous man’s eye is not satisfied with his portion; And wicked injustice dries up his soul.
14:10
ὀφθαλμὸς πονηρὸς φθονερὸς ἐπ’ ἄρτῳ καὶ ἐλλιπὴς ἐπὶ τῆς τραπέζης αὐτοῦ
Oculus malus ad mala, et non saturabitur pane, sed indigens et in tristitia erit super mensam suam.
ዐይኑ፡ ለሐማሚ፡ ይጠውዕ፡ እክለ፡ ወይደነግፁ፡ በውስተ፡ ማእድ።
An evil eye is grudging of bread, And he is miserly at his table
14:11
τέκνον καθὼς ἐὰν ἔχῃς εὖ ποίει σεαυτὸν καὶ προσφορὰς κυρίῳ ἀξίως πρόσαγε
Fili, si habes, benefac tecum, et Deo dignas oblationes offer.
ወልድየ፡ በአምጣነ፡ ትክል፡ አስተደልዋ፡ ለነፍስከ፡ ወአብእ፡ መባአ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ በዘይደልወከ።
My son, according as you have, do well to yourself, And bring offerings to the Lord worthily.
14:12
μνήσθητι ὅτι θάνατος οὐ χρονιεῖ καὶ διαθήκη ᾅδου οὐχ ὑπεδείχθη σοι
Memor esto quoniam mors non tardat, et testamentum inferorum, quia demonstratum est tibi : testamentum enim hujus mundi morte morietur.
ወተዘከር፡ ከመ፡ ኢይጐነዲ፡ ሞት፡ ወኢታስተሐዘብከ፡ ዕለተ፡ ሞት።
Remember that death will not wait, And that the covenant of the grave is not showed to you.
14:13
πρίν σε τελευτῆσαι εὖ ποίει φίλῳ καὶ κατὰ τὴν ἰσχύν σου ἔκτεινον καὶ δὸς αὐτῷ
Ante mortem benefac amico tuo, et secundum vires tuas exporrigens da pauperi.
ዘእንበለ፡ ትሙት፡ አሠኒ፡ ለቢጽከ፡ ወበአምጣነ፡ ትክል፡ ስፋሕ፡ እዴከ፡ ወሀብ።
Do well to your friend before you die; And according to your ability stretch out your hand and give to him.
14:14
μὴ ἀφυστερήσῃς ἀπὸ ἀγαθῆς ἡμέρας καὶ μερὶς ἐπιθυμίας ἀγαθῆς μή σε παρελθάτω
Non defrauderis a die bono, et particula boni doni non te prætereat.
ወኢትትኀጣእ፡[እም]ዕለተ፡ ትፍሥሕት(ከ)፤ ወመክፈልተ፡ ሠናይ፡ ኢያምሥጥከ።
Defraud not yourself of a good day; And don’t let the portion of a good desire pass you by.
14:15
οὐχὶ ἑτέρῳ καταλείψεις τοὺς πόνους σου καὶ τοὺς κόπους σου εἰς διαίρεσιν κλήρου
Nonne aliis relinques dolores et labores tuos in divisione sortis ?
አኮኑ፡ ለባዕድ፡ ተኀድጎ፡ ለጻማከ፡ ወኵሎ፡ ተግባረከ፡ ይትካፈሉ፡ መዋርስቲከ።
Shall you not leave your labors to another? And your toils to be divided by lot?
14:16
δὸς καὶ λαβὲ καὶ ἀπάτησον τὴν ψυχήν σου ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν ᾅδου ζητῆσαι τρυφήν
Da et accipe, et justifica animam tuam.
ንሣእ፡ ወሀብ፡ ወአስተፍሥሓ፡ ለነፍስከ፡ እስመ፡ አልቦ፡ ዘትረክብ፡ ትፍሥሕተ፡ በውስተ፡ መቃብር።
Give, and take, and decieve your soul; For there is no seeking of luxury in the grave.
14:17
πᾶσα σὰρξ ὡς ἱμάτιον παλαιοῦται ἡ γὰρ διαθήκη ἀπ’ αἰῶνος θανάτῳ ἀποθανῇ
Ante obitum tuum operare justitiam, quoniam non est apud inferos invenire cibum.
ኵሉ፡ ዘነፍስ፡ ይበሊ፡ ከመ፡ ልብስ፡ እስመ፡ ትእዛዘ፡ ሕግ፡ ተፈጥረ፡ ሞተ፡ ትሙት።
All flesh waxes old as a garment; For the covenant from the beginning is, You shall die the death.
14:18
ὡς φύλλον θάλλον ἐπὶ δένδρου δασέος τὰ μὲν καταβάλλει ἄλλα δὲ φύει οὕτως γενεὰ σαρκὸς καὶ αἵματος ἡ μὲν τελευτᾷ ἑτέρα δὲ γεννᾶται
Omnis caro sicut fœnum veterascet, et sicut folium fructificans in arbore viridi.
ከመ፡ ቈጽለ፡ ዕፅ፡ ዘጽፉቅ፡ ቈጽሉ፡ ዘቀዳሚ፡ ይትነገፍ፡ ወደኃሪ፡ ይሠርጽ፡ ከማሁ፡ ኵሉ፡ ትውልድ፡ ዘሥጋ፡ ወደም፡ ዘዝክቱ፡ ይትወለድ፡ ወዝክቱ፡ ይመውት።
As of the leaves flourishing on a thick tree, Some it sheds, and some it makes to grow; So also of the generations of flesh and blood, One comes to an end, and another is born.
14:19
πᾶν ἔργον σηπόμενον ἐκλείπει καὶ ὁ ἐργαζόμενος αὐτὸ μετ’ αὐτοῦ ἀπελεύσεται
Alia generantur, et alia dejiciuntur : sic generatio carnis et sanguinis, alia finitur, et alia nascitur.
ኵሉ፡ ግብር፡ ይበሊ፡ ወየኀልቅ፡ ምስሌሁ።
Every work rots and falls away, And the worker thereof shall depart with it.
14:20
μακάριος ἀνήρ ὃς ἐν σοφίᾳ μελετήσει καὶ ὃς ἐν συνέσει αὐτοῦ διαλεχθήσεται
Omne opus corruptibile in fine deficiet, et qui illud operatur ibit cum illo.
ወባሕቱ፡ ብፁዕ፡ ብእሲ፡ እንዘ፡ ጠቢብ፡ ውእቱ፡ ዘሞተ፡ ወዘተምህረ፡ ወዐቀበ፡ ጥበቢሁ።
Blessed is the man that shall meditate in wisdom, And that shall discourse by his understanding.
14:21
ὁ διανοούμενος τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτῆς ἐν καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἀποκρύφοις αὐτῆς ἐννοηθήσεται
Et omne opus electum justificabitur, et qui operatur illud honorabitur in illo.
ወዘይኄሊ፡ ፍናዊሃ፡ ለጥበብ፡ በልቡ፡ ወይትሜሃር፡ ኅቡአቲሃ።
He that considers her ways in his heart Shall also have knowledge in her secrets.
14:22
ἔξελθε ὀπίσω αὐτῆς ὡς ἰχνευτὴς καὶ ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτῆς ἐνέδρευε
Beatus vir qui in sapientia morabitur, et qui in justitia sua meditabitur, et in sensu cogitabit circumspectionem Dei :
ትልዋ፡ ድኅሬሃ፡ ወኅሥሣ፡ አሠራ፡ ወዕቀብ፡ ፍናዊሃ።
Go forth after her as one that tracketh, And lie in wait in her ways.
14:23
ὁ παρακύπτων διὰ τῶν θυρίδων αὐτῆς καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν θυρωμάτων αὐτῆς ἀκροάσεται
qui excogitat vias illius in corde suo, et in absconditis suis intelligens, vadens post illam quasi investigator, et in viis illius consistens :
ዘይሔውጽ፡ እንተ፡ መሳክዊሃ፡ ወያፀምእ፡ በውስተ፡ አናቅጺሃ።
He that pries in at her windows Shall also hearken at her doors.
14:24
ὁ καταλύων σύνεγγυς τοῦ οἴκου αὐτῆς καὶ πήξει πάσσαλον ἐν τοῖς τοίχοις αὐτῆς
qui respicit per fenestras illius, et in januis illius audiens :
ወዘየኀድር፡ ቅሩበ፡ ቤታ፡ ወይተክል፡ መታክሊሁ፡ ውስተ፡ አረፋቲሃ።
He that lodges close to her house Shall also fasten a nail in her walls.
14:25
στήσει τὴν σκηνὴν αὐτοῦ κατὰ χεῖρας αὐτῆς καὶ καταλύσει ἐν καταλύματι ἀγαθῶν
qui requiescit juxta domum illius, et in parietibus illius figens palum, statuet casulam suam ad manus illius, et requiescent in casula illius bona per ævum.
ወያቀውም፡ ደብተራሁ፡ ውስተ፡ እደዊሃ፡ ወየኀችር፡ ውስተ፡ መኃድሪሃ፡ ሠናይ።
He shall pitch his tent near at hand to her, And will lodge in a lodging where good things are.
14:26
θήσει τὰ τέκνα αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ σκέπῃ αὐτῆς καὶ ὑπὸ τοὺς κλάδους αὐτῆς αὐλισθήσεται
Statuet filios suos sub tegmine illius, et sub ramis ejus morabitur.
ወያነብር፡ ውሉዶ፡ ውስተ፡ ጽላሎታ፡ ወይበይት፡ ታሕተ፡ አዕጹቂሃ።
He will set his children under her shelter, And will rest under her branches.
14:27
σκεπασθήσεται ὑπ’ αὐτῆς ἀπὸ καύματος καὶ ἐν τῇ δόξῃ αὐτῆς καταλύσει
Protegetur sub tegmine illius a fervore, et in gloria ejus requiescet.
ወያጸልል፡ እምነ፡ መርቄ፡ ታሕቴሃ፡ ወያዐርፍ፡ በውስተ፡ ክብራ።
By her he will be covered from heat, And will lodge in her glory.
