129:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ שִׁ֗יר הַֽמַּ֫עֲל֥וֹת רַ֭בַּת צְרָר֣וּנִי מִנְּעוּרַ֑י יֹאמַר ־נָ֝֗א יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
ᾠδὴ τῶν ἀναβαθμῶν πλεονάκις ἐπολέμησάν με ἐκ νεότητός μου εἰπάτω δὴ Ισραηλ
Canticum graduum . Saepe expugnaverunt me a juventute mea , dicat nunc Israël ;
— Many times they have afflicted me from my youth up. Let Israel now say:
129:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ רַ֭בַּת צְרָר֣וּנִי מִנְּעוּרָ֑י גַּ֝֗ם לֹא ־יָ֥כְלוּ לִֽי ׃
πλεονάκις ἐπολέμησάν με ἐκ νεότητός μου καὶ γὰρ οὐκ ἠδυνήθησάν μοι
saepe expugnaverunt me a juventute mea : etenim non potuerunt mihi .
— many times they have afflicted me from my youth up, yet they have not prevailed against me.
129:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ עַל ־גַּ֭בִּי חָרְשׁ֣וּ חֹרְשִׁ֑ים הֶ֝אֱרִ֗יכוּ (למענותם ) [לְמַעֲנִיתָֽם ]׃
ἐπὶ τοῦ νώτου μου ἐτέκταινον οἱ ἁμαρτωλοί ἐμάκρυναν τὴν ἀνομίαν αὐτῶν
Supra dorsum meum fabricaverunt peccatores ; prolongaverunt iniquitatem suam .
ማኅሌት ፡ ዘበመዓርጊሁ ። ዘልፈ ፡ ይፀብኡኒ ፡ እምንእስየ ፤ ይብል ፡ እስራኤል ።
The plowers plowed on my back. They made their furrows long.
129:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ יְהֹוָ֥ה צַדִּ֑יק קִ֝צֵּ֗ץ עֲב֣וֹת רְשָׁעִֽים ׃
κύριος δίκαιος συνέκοψεν αὐχένας ἁμαρτωλῶν
Dominus justus concidit cervices peccatorum .
ዘልፈ ፡ ይፀብኡኒ ፡ እምንእስየ ፤ ወባሕቱ ፡ ኢክህሉኒ ።
Yahweh is righteous. He has cut apart the cords of the wicked.
129:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ יֵ֭בֹשׁוּ וְיִסֹּ֣גוּ אָח֑וֹר כֹּ֝֗ל שֹׂנְאֵ֥י צִיּֽוֹן ׃
αἰσχυνθήτωσαν καὶ ἀποστραφήτωσαν εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω πάντες οἱ μισοῦντες Σιων
Confundantur , et convertantur retrorsum omnes qui oderunt Sion .
ዲበ ፡ ዘባንየ ፡ ዘበጡ ፡ ኃጥኣን ፤ ወአስተርሐቅዋ ፡ ለኃጢአቶሙ ።
Let them be disappointed and turned backward, all those who hate Zion.
129:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ יִ֭הְיוּ כַּחֲצִ֣יר גַּגּ֑וֹת שֶׁקַּדְמַ֖ת שָׁלַ֣ף יָבֵֽשׁ ׃
γενηθήτωσαν ὡς χόρτος δωμάτων ὃς πρὸ τοῦ ἐκσπασθῆναι ἐξηράνθη
Fiant sicut foenum tectorum , quod priusquam evellatur exaruit :
እግዚአብሔር ፡ ጻድቅ ፡ ሰበረ ፡ አሕዳፊሆሙ ፡ ለኃጥኣን ። ይትኀፈሩ ፡ ወይግብኡ ፡ ድኅሬሆሙ ፤ ኵሎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ይጸልእዋ ፡ ለጽዮን ።
Let them be as the grass on the housetops, which withers before it grows up,
129:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ שֶׁלֹּ֤א מִלֵּ֖א כַפּ֥וֹ קוֹצֵ֗ר וְחִצְנ֥וֹ מְעַמֵּֽר ׃
οὗ οὐκ ἐπλήρωσεν τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ὁ θερίζων καὶ τὸν κόλπον αὐτοῦ ὁ τὰ δράγματα συλλέγων
de quo non implevit manum suam qui metit , et sinum suum qui manipulos colligit .
ወይኩኑ ፡ ከመ ፡ ሣዕረ ፡ አንሕስት ፤ ወይየብስ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ይምሐውዎ ።
with which the reaper doesn’t fill his hand, nor he who binds sheaves, his bosom.
129:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְלֹ֤א אָמְר֨וּ ׀ הָעֹבְרִ֗ים בִּרְכַּֽת ־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם בֵּרַ֥כְנוּ אֶ֝תְכֶ֗ם בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהֹוָֽה ׃ {פ}
καὶ οὐκ εἶπαν οἱ παράγοντες εὐλογία κυρίου ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς εὐλογήκαμεν ὑμᾶς ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου
Et non dixerunt qui praeteribant : Benedictio Domini super vos . Benediximus vobis in nomine Domini .
ወኢይመልእ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ ለዘ ፡ የዐፅዶ ፤ ወኢሕፅኖ ፡ ለዘ ፡ ያስተጋብእ ፡ ከላስስቲሁ ። ወኢይበሉ ፡ እለ ፡ የኀልፉ ፡ በረከተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ምስሌሆሙ ፤ ባረክናክሙ ፡ በስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
Neither do those who go by say, “The blessing of Yahweh be on you. We bless you in Yahweh’s name.”
