Psalms 11 — 4 originals side by side

Versification differs between traditions. Columns are aligned by verse number; where a text has no such verse the cell is left blank rather than forced into line. Tap any word for a gloss.

⚠️ The Chinese and English alongside are the CUV and the WEB, both translated from the Masoretic Text; they follow a different textual tradition from the Greek and Latin shown here and will disagree in places.
ℹ️ Some verses here have no matching verse in the public-domain translations (the Psalm superscriptions are not numbered verses in the CUV or the WEB). Those verses were translated by this site with AI (Claude), not taken from the WEB.

In finem. Psalmus David.

11:1
In Domino confido ; quomodo dicitis animae meae : Transmigra in montem sicut passer ?
In Yahweh, I take refuge. How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain”?
11:2
Quoniam ecce peccatores intenderunt arcum ; paraverunt sagittas suas in pharetra, ut sagittent in obscuro rectos corde :
For, behold, the wicked bend their bows. They set their arrows on the strings, that they may shoot in darkness at the upright in heart.
11:3
If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?
11:4
Dominus in templo sancto suo ; Dominus in caelo sedes ejus. Oculi ejus in pauperem respiciunt ; palpebrae ejus interrogant filios hominum.
Yahweh is in his holy temple. Yahweh is on his throne in heaven. His eyes observe. His eyes examine the children of men.
11:5
Yahweh examines the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and him who loves violence.
11:6
Pluet super peccatores laqueos ; ignis et sulphur, et spiritus procellarum, pars calicis eorum.
On the wicked he will rain blazing coals; fire, sulfur, and scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.
11:7
כִּֽי־צַדִּ֣יק יְ֭הֹוָה צְדָק֣וֹת אָהֵ֑ב יָ֝שָׁ֗ר יֶחֱז֥וּ פָנֵֽימוֹ׃ {פ}
Quoniam justus Dominus, et justitias dilexit : aequitatem vidit vultus ejus.
For Yahweh is righteous. He loves righteousness. The upright shall see his face.
