25:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בַּשִּׁטִּ֑ים וַיָּ֣חֶל הָעָ֔ם לִזְנ֖וֹת אֶל ־בְּנ֥וֹת מוֹאָֽב ׃
καὶ κατέλυσεν Ισραηλ ἐν Σαττιν καὶ ἐβεβηλώθη ὁ λαὸς ἐκπορνεῦσαι εἰς τὰς θυγατέρας Μωαβ
Morabatur autem eo tempore Israël in Settim , et fornicatus est populus cum filiabus Moab ,
ወኀደሩ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሰጢም ፡ ወተገመነ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወዘመው ፡ በአዋልደ ፡ ሞአብ ።
Israel stayed in Shittim; and the people began to play the prostitute with the daughters of Moab;
25:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתִּקְרֶ֣אןָ לָעָ֔ם לְזִבְחֵ֖י אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ן וַיֹּ֣אכַל הָעָ֔ם וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּ לֵאלֹֽהֵיהֶֽן ׃
καὶ ἐκάλεσαν αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ ταῖς θυσίαις τῶν εἰδώλων αὐτῶν καὶ ἔφαγεν ὁ λαὸς τῶν θυσιῶν αὐτῶν καὶ προσεκύνησαν τοῖς εἰδώλοις αὐτῶν
quae vocaverunt eos ad sacrificia sua . At ille comederunt et adoraverunt deos earum .
ወጸውዕዎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መሥዋዕተ ፡ አማልክቲሆሙ ፡ ወበልዑ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ መሥዋዕቶሙ ፡ ወሰገዱ ፡ ለአማልክቲሆሙ ።
for they called the people to the sacrifices of their gods. The people ate and bowed down to their gods.
25:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּצָּ֥מֶד יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לְבַ֣עַל פְּע֑וֹר וַיִּֽחַר ־אַ֥ף יְהֹוָ֖ה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
καὶ ἐτελέσθη Ισραηλ τῷ Βεελφεγωρ καὶ ὠργίσθη θυμῷ κύριος τῷ Ισραηλ
Initiatusque est Israël Beelphegor : et iratus Dominus ,
ወተፈጸመ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ለቤዔል ፡ ፌጎር ፡ ወተምዕዐ ፡ መዐተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እስራኤል ።
Israel joined himself to Baal Peor, and Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel.
25:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה אֶל ־מֹשֶׁ֗ה קַ֚ח אֶת ־כׇּל ־רָאשֵׁ֣י הָעָ֔ם וְהוֹקַ֥ע אוֹתָ֛ם לַיהֹוָ֖ה נֶ֣גֶד הַשָּׁ֑מֶשׁ וְיָשֹׁ֛ב חֲר֥וֹן אַף ־יְהֹוָ֖ה מִיִּשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ λαβὲ πάντας τοὺς ἀρχηγοὺς τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ παραδειγμάτισον αὐτοὺς κυρίῳ ἀπέναντι τοῦ ἡλίου καὶ ἀποστραφήσεται ὀργὴ θυμοῦ κυρίου ἀπὸ Ισραηλ
ait ad Moysen : Tolle cunctos principes populi , et suspende eos contra solem in patibulis , ut avertatur furor meus ab Israël .
ወይቤሎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ንሥኦሙ ፡ ለመላእክተ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወተዛለፎሙ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ [*በቅድመ ፡*] ፀሐይ ፡ ወይሴስል ፡ መንሱተ ፡ መዐቱ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ እምነ ፡ እስራኤል ።
Yahweh said to Moses, “Take all the chiefs of the people, and hang them up to Yahweh before the sun, that the fierce anger of Yahweh may turn away from Israel.”
25:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֔ה אֶל ־שֹׁפְטֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל הִרְגוּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ אֲנָשָׁ֔יו הַנִּצְמָדִ֖ים לְבַ֥עַל פְּעֽוֹר ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Μωυσῆς ταῖς φυλαῖς Ισραηλ ἀποκτείνατε ἕκαστος τὸν οἰκεῖον αὐτοῦ τὸν τετελεσμένον τῷ Βεελφεγωρ
Dixitque Moyses ad judices Israël : Occidat unusquisque proximos suos , qui initiati sunt Beelphegor .
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ለሕዝበ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ቅትሉ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ እምኔክሙ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ቤትክሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ገብሩ ፡ ለቤዔል ፡ ፌጎር ።
Moses said to the judges of Israel, “Everyone kill his men who have joined themselves to Baal Peor.”
25:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהִנֵּ֡ה אִישׁ֩ מִבְּנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל בָּ֗א וַיַּקְרֵ֤ב אֶל ־אֶחָיו֙ אֶת ־הַמִּדְיָנִ֔ית לְעֵינֵ֣י מֹשֶׁ֔ה וּלְעֵינֵ֖י כׇּל ־עֲדַ֣ת בְּנֵי ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְהֵ֣מָּה בֹכִ֔ים פֶּ֖תַח אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד ׃
καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνθρωπος τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἐλθὼν προσήγαγεν τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ πρὸς τὴν Μαδιανῖτιν ἐναντίον Μωυσῆ καὶ ἔναντι πάσης συναγωγῆς υἱῶν Ισραηλ αὐτοὶ δὲ ἔκλαιον παρὰ τὴν θύραν τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου
Et ecce unus de filiis Israël intravit coram fratribus suis ad scortum Madianitidem , vidente Moyse , et omni turba filiorum Israël , qui flebant ante fores tabernaculi .
ወናሁ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ እምደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ መጽአ ፡ ወወሰዶ ፡ ለወልዱ ፡ ኀበ ፡ መድናዊት ፡ በቅድመ ፡ ሙሴ ፡ ወበቅድመ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ተዓይኒሆሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወእሙንቱሰ ፡ ሀለው ፡ ይበክዩ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኆኅተ ፡ ደብተራ ፡ ዘመርጡል ።
Behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought to his brothers a Midianite woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, while they were weeping at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
25:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֗רְא פִּֽינְחָס֙ בֶּן ־אֶלְעָזָ֔ר בֶּֽן ־אַהֲרֹ֖ן הַכֹּהֵ֑ן וַיָּ֙קׇם֙ מִתּ֣וֹךְ הָֽעֵדָ֔ה וַיִּקַּ֥ח רֹ֖מַח בְּיָדֽוֹ ׃
καὶ ἰδὼν Φινεες υἱὸς Ελεαζαρ υἱοῦ Ααρων τοῦ ἱερέως ἐξανέστη ἐκ μέσου τῆς συναγωγῆς καὶ λαβὼν σειρομάστην ἐν τῇ χειρὶ
Quod cum vidisset Phinees filius Eleazari filii Aaron sacerdotis , surrexit de medio multitudinis , et arrepto pugione ,
ወሶበ ፡ ርእየ ፡ ፊንሕስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ እልዓዛር ፡ ወልደ ፡ አሮን ፡ ካህን ፡ ተንሥአ ፡ እምነ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ትዕይንት ፡ ወነሥአ ፡ ረምሐ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እዴሁ ።
When Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from the middle of the congregation, and took a spear in his hand.
25:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַ֠יָּבֹ֠א אַחַ֨ר אִֽישׁ ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶל ־הַקֻּבָּ֗ה וַיִּדְקֹר֙ אֶת ־שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם אֵ֚ת אִ֣ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאֶת ־הָאִשָּׁ֖ה אֶל ־קֳבָתָ֑הּ וַתֵּֽעָצַר֙ הַמַּגֵּפָ֔ה מֵעַ֖ל בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
εἰσῆλθεν ὀπίσω τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ Ισραηλίτου εἰς τὴν κάμινον καὶ ἀπεκέντησεν ἀμφοτέρους τόν τε ἄνθρωπον τὸν Ισραηλίτην καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα διὰ τῆς μήτρας αὐτῆς καὶ ἐπαύσατο ἡ πληγὴ ἀπὸ υἱῶν Ισραηλ
ingressus est post virum Israëlitem in lupanar , et perfodit ambos simul , virum scilicet et mulierem in locis genitalibus . Cessavitque plaga a filiis Israël :
ወቦአ ፡ ወተለዎ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ እስራኤላዊ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እቶን ፡ ወረገዞሙ ፡ ለክልኤሆሙ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ እስራኤላዊ ፡ ወለይእቲ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ መድናዊት ፡ እንተ ፡ መንገለ ፡ ሕምሳ ፡ ወሐደገ ፡ መቅሠፍት ፡ እምደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ።
He went after the man of Israel into the pavilion, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her body. So the plague was stopped among the children of Israel.
25:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּהְי֕וּ הַמֵּתִ֖ים בַּמַּגֵּפָ֑ה אַרְבָּעָ֥ה וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים אָֽלֶף ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐγένοντο οἱ τεθνηκότες ἐν τῇ πληγῇ τέσσαρες καὶ εἴκοσι χιλιάδες
et occisi sunt viginti quatuor millia hominum .
ወኮኑ ፡ እለ ፡ ሞቱ ፡ በውስተ ፡ መቅሠፍት ፡ ፪፻-፻፵፻ ።
Those who died by the plague were twenty-four thousand.
25:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל ־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר ׃
καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων
Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen :
ወነበቦ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፤
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
25:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ פִּֽינְחָ֨ס* (בספרי ספרד ואשכנז נהוג לכתוב פִּֽינְחָ֨ס ביו״ד זעירא ) בֶּן ־אֶלְעָזָ֜ר בֶּן ־אַהֲרֹ֣ן הַכֹּהֵ֗ן הֵשִׁ֤יב אֶת ־חֲמָתִי֙ מֵעַ֣ל בְּנֵֽי ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּקַנְא֥וֹ אֶת ־קִנְאָתִ֖י בְּתוֹכָ֑ם וְלֹא ־כִלִּ֥יתִי אֶת ־בְּנֵֽי ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּקִנְאָתִֽי ׃
Φινεες υἱὸς Ελεαζαρ υἱοῦ Ααρων τοῦ ἱερέως κατέπαυσεν τὸν θυμόν μου ἀπὸ υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἐν τῷ ζηλῶσαί μου τὸν ζῆλον ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ οὐκ ἐξανήλωσα τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ ἐν τῷ ζήλῳ μου
Phinees filius Eleazari filii Aaron sacerdotis avertit iram meam a filiis Israël : quia zelo meo commotus est contra eos , ut non ipse delerem filios Israël in zelo meo .
ፊንሕስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ እልዓዛር ፡ ወልደ ፡ አሮን ፡ ካህን ፡ አኅደገኒ ፡ መዐትየ ፡ እምነ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ እስመ ፡ ቀንአ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ቅንአትየ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ ወኢያጥፋእክዎሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ በቀንእየ ።
“Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, in that he was jealous with my jealousy among them, so that I didn’t consume the children of Israel in my jealousy.
25:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ לָכֵ֖ן אֱמֹ֑ר הִנְנִ֨י נֹתֵ֥ן ל֛וֹ אֶת ־בְּרִיתִ֖י שָׁלֽוֹם* (בספרי ספרד ואשכנז וי״ו קטיעא )׃
οὕτως εἰπόν ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ δίδωμι αὐτῷ διαθήκην εἰρήνης
Idcirco loquere ad eum : Ecce do ei pacem foederis mei ,
ወከመዝ ፡ እቤ ፡ ናሁ ፡ እሁቦ ፡ ሕገ ፡ ሰላም ፤
Therefore say, ‘Behold, I give to him my covenant of peace.
25:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהָ֤יְתָה לּוֹ֙ וּלְזַרְע֣וֹ אַחֲרָ֔יו בְּרִ֖ית כְּהֻנַּ֣ת עוֹלָ֑ם תַּ֗חַת אֲשֶׁ֤ר קִנֵּא֙ לֵֽאלֹהָ֔יו וַיְכַפֵּ֖ר עַל ־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
καὶ ἔσται αὐτῷ καὶ τῷ σπέρματι αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτὸν διαθήκη ἱερατείας αἰωνία ἀνθ’ ὧν ἐζήλωσεν τῷ θεῷ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξιλάσατο περὶ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ
et erit tam ipsi quam semini ejus pactum sacerdotii sempiternum : quia zelatus est pro Deo suo , et expiavit scelus filiorum Israël .
ወይኩኖ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ወለዘርኡ ፡ እምድኅሬሁ ፡ ሕገ ፡ [ክህነት ፡] ዘለዓለም ፡ እስመ ፡ ቀንአ ፡ ለአምላኩ ፡ ወአስተስረየ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ።
It shall be to him, and to his offspring after him, the covenant of an everlasting priesthood, because he was jealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.’”
25:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְשֵׁם֩ אִ֨ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל הַמֻּכֶּ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר הֻכָּה֙ אֶת ־הַמִּדְיָנִ֔ית זִמְרִ֖י בֶּן ־סָל֑וּא נְשִׂ֥יא בֵֽית ־אָ֖ב לַשִּׁמְעֹנִֽי ׃
τὸ δὲ ὄνομα τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ Ισραηλίτου τοῦ πεπληγότος ὃς ἐπλήγη μετὰ τῆς Μαδιανίτιδος Ζαμβρι υἱὸς Σαλω ἄρχων οἴκου πατριᾶς τῶν Συμεων
Erat autem nomen viri Israëlitae , qui occisus est cum Madianitide , Zambri filius Salu , dux de cognatione et tribu Simeonis .
ወስሙ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ እስራኤላዊ ፡ ዘተቀትለ ፡ ዝንብሪ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ሐሎ ፡ መልአከ ፡ ቤተ ፡ አበዊሆሙ ፡ ዘስምዖን ።
Now the name of the man of Israel that was slain, who was slain with the Midianite woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a fathers’ house among the Simeonites.
25:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְשֵׁ֨ם הָֽאִשָּׁ֧ה הַמֻּכָּ֛ה הַמִּדְיָנִ֖ית כׇּזְבִּ֣י בַת ־צ֑וּר רֹ֣אשׁ אֻמּ֥וֹת בֵּֽית ־אָ֛ב בְּמִדְיָ֖ן הֽוּא ׃ {פ}
καὶ ὄνομα τῇ γυναικὶ τῇ Μαδιανίτιδι τῇ πεπληγυίᾳ Χασβι θυγάτηρ Σουρ ἄρχοντος ἔθνους Ομμωθ οἴκου πατριᾶς ἐστιν τῶν Μαδιαν
Porro mulier Madianitis , quae pariter interfecta est , vocabatur Cozbi filia Sur principis nobilissimi Madianitarum .
ወስማ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ መድናዊት ፡ እንተ ፡ ተቂትለት ፡ ከስቢ ፡ ወለተ ፡ ሱር ፡ መልአኮሙ ፡ ለሕዝበ ፡ ሳሞት ፡ ዘቤተ ፡ አበዊሆሙ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ለምድያም ።
The name of the Midianite woman who was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur. He was head of the people of a fathers’ house in Midian.
25:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל ־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר ׃
καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων λάλησον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ λέγων
Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen , dicens :
ወነበቦ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለሙሴ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ ንግሮሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወበሎሙ ፤
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
25:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ צָר֖וֹר אֶת ־הַמִּדְיָנִ֑ים וְהִכִּיתֶ֖ם אוֹתָֽם ׃
ἐχθραίνετε τοῖς Μαδιηναίοις καὶ πατάξατε αὐτούς
Hostes vos sentiant Madianitae , et percutite eos :
ተፃረርዎሙ ፡ ለመድናውያን ፡ ወቅትልዎሙ ።
“Harass the Midianites, and strike them;
25:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֣י צֹרְרִ֥ים הֵם֙ לָכֶ֔ם בְּנִכְלֵיהֶ֛ם אֲשֶׁר ־נִכְּל֥וּ לָכֶ֖ם עַל ־דְּבַר ־פְּע֑וֹר וְעַל ־דְּבַ֞ר כׇּזְבִּ֨י בַת ־נְשִׂ֤יא מִדְיָן֙ אֲחֹתָ֔ם הַמֻּכָּ֥ה בְיוֹם ־הַמַּגֵּפָ֖ה עַל ־דְּבַר ־פְּעֽוֹר ׃
ὅτι ἐχθραίνουσιν αὐτοὶ ὑμῖν ἐν δολιότητι ὅσα δολιοῦσιν ὑμᾶς διὰ Φογωρ καὶ διὰ Χασβι θυγατέρα ἄρχοντος Μαδιαν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῶν τὴν πεπληγυῖαν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῆς πληγῆς διὰ Φογωρ
quia et ipsi hostiliter egerunt contra vos , et decepere insidiis per idolum Phogor , et Cozbi filiam ducis Madian sororem suam , quae percussa est in die plagae pro sacrilegio Phogor .
እስመ ፡ እሙንቱኒ ፡ ይፃረሩክሙ ፡ በጕሕሉት ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ዘይትጐሐለውክሙ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ፌጎር ፡ ወበእንተ ፡ ከስቢ ፡ ወለተ ፡ መልአከ ፡ ምድያም ፡ እኅቶሙ ፡ እንተ ፡ ተቀትለት ፡ አመ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ መቅሠፍት ፡ በበይነ ፡ ፌጎር ።
for they harassed you with their wiles, wherein they have deceived you in the matter of Peor, and in the incident regarding Cozbi, the daughter of the prince of Midian, their sister, who was slain on the day of the plague in the matter of Peor.”
