1:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ λόγος , καὶ ὁ λόγος ἦν πρὸς τὸν θεόν , καὶ θεὸς ἦν ὁ λόγος .
In principio erat Verbum , et Verbum erat apud Deum , et Deus erat Verbum .
ቀዳሚሁ ቃል ውእቱ ወውእቱ ቃል ኀበ እግዚአብሔር ውእቱ ወእግዚአብሔር ውእቱ ቃል ።
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
1:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὗτος ἦν ἐν ἀρχῇ πρὸς τὸν θεόν .
Hoc erat in principio apud Deum .
ወከማሁ ቀዳሚሁ እምቀዲሙ ኀበ እግዚአብሔር ውእቱ ።
The same was in the beginning with God.
1:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ πάντα δι’ αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο , καὶ χωρὶς αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο οὐδὲ ἕν ὃ γέγονεν
Omnia per ipsum facta sunt : et sine ipso factum est nihil , quod factum est .
ወኵሉ ቦቱ ኮነ ወዘእንበሌሁሰ አልቦ ዘኮነ ወኢምንትኒ እምዘኮነ ።
All things were made through him. Without him, nothing was made that has been made.
1:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐν αὐτῷ ζωὴ ἐστιν , καὶ ἡ ζωὴ ἦν τὸ φῶς τῶν ἀνθρώπων .
In ipso vita erat , et vita erat lux hominum :
ወዘሂ ኮነ በእንቲኣሁ ቦቱ ሕይወት ውእቱ ወሕይወትሰ ብርሃኑ ለዕጓለ እመሕያው ውእቱ ።
In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
1:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ τὸ φῶς ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ φαίνει , καὶ ἡ σκοτία αὐτὸ οὐ κατέλαβεν .
et lux in tenebris lucet , et tenebrae eam non comprehenderunt .
ወብርሃንሰ ዘውስተ ጽልመት ያበርህ ወያርኢ ወጽልመትኒ ኢይረክቦ ወኢይቀርቦ ።
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn’t overcome it.
1:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐγένετο ἄνθρωπος , ἀπεσταλμένος παρὰ θεοῦ , ὄνομα αὐτῷ Ἰωάννης ·
Fuit homo missus a Deo , cui nomen erat Joannes .
ወሀሎ አሐዱ ብእሲ ዘተፈነወ እምኀበ እግዚአብሔር ዘስሙ ዮሐንስ ።
There came a man sent from God, whose name was John.
1:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὗτος ἦλθεν εἰς μαρτυρίαν , ἵνα μαρτυρήσῃ περὶ τοῦ φωτός , ἵνα πάντες πιστεύσωσιν δι’ αὐτοῦ .
Hic venit in testimonium ut testimonium perhiberet de lumine , ut omnes crederent per illum .
ወውእቱ መጽአ ለስምዕ ከመ ይኩን ሰማዕተ በእንተ ብርሃን ከመ ኵሉ ይእመን ቦቱ ።
The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him.
1:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐκ ἦν ἐκεῖνος τὸ φῶς , ἀλλ’ ἵνα μαρτυρήσῃ περὶ τοῦ φωτός .
Non erat ille lux , sed ut testimonium perhiberet de lumine .
ወለሊሁሰ ኢኮነ ብርሃነ ዳእሙ ሰማዕተ ይኩን በእንተ ብርሃን ።
He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light.
1:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἦν τὸ φῶς τὸ ἀληθινόν , ὃ φωτίζει πάντα ἄνθρωπον , ἐρχόμενον εἰς τὸν κόσμον .
Erat lux vera , quae illuminat omnem hominem venientem in hunc mundum .
ወብርሃነ ጽድቅሰ ዘያበርህ ለኵሉ ሰብእ ዘመጽአ ውስተ ዓለም ።
The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.
1:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ ἦν , καὶ ὁ κόσμος δι’ αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο , καὶ ὁ κόσμος αὐτὸν οὐκ ἔγνω .
In mundo erat , et mundus per ipsum factus est , et mundus eum non cognovit .
ወውስተ ዓለም ሀሎ ወዓለምኒ ቦቱ ኮነ ወዓለምሰ ኢያእመሮ ።
He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn’t recognize him.
1:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰς τὰ ἴδια ἦλθεν , καὶ οἱ ἴδιοι αὐτὸν οὐ παρέλαβον .
In propria venit , et sui eum non receperunt .
ውስተ ዚኣሁ መጽአ ወእሊኣሁሰ ኢተወክፍዎ ።
He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him.
1:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅσοι δὲ ἔλαβον αὐτόν , ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς ἐξουσίαν τέκνα θεοῦ γενέσθαι , τοῖς πιστεύουσιν εἰς τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ,
Quotquot autem receperunt eum , dedit eis potestatem filios Dei fieri , his qui credunt in nomine ejus :
ወለእለሰ ተወክፍዎ ወሀቦሙ ሥልጣነ ውሉደ እግዚአብሔር ይኩኑ ለእለ አምኑ በስሙ ።
But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name:
1:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἳ οὐκ ἐξ αἱμάτων οὐδὲ ἐκ θελήματος σαρκὸς οὐδὲ ἐκ θελήματος ἀνδρὸς ἀλλ’ ἐκ θεοῦ ἐγεννήθησαν .
qui non ex sanguinibus , neque ex voluntate carnis , neque ex voluntate viri , sed ex Deo nati sunt .
እለ ኢኮኑ እምነ ዘሥጋ ወደም ወኢእምሥምረተ ብእሲ ወብእሲት አላ እም እግዚአብሔር ተወልዱ ።
who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
1:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὁ λόγος σὰρξ ἐγένετο καὶ ἐσκήνωσεν ἐν ἡμῖν , καὶ ἐθεασάμεθα τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ , δόξαν ὡς μονογενοῦς παρὰ πατρός , πλήρης χάριτος καὶ ἀληθείας .
Et Verbum caro factum est , et habitavit in nobis : et vidimus gloriam ejus , gloriam quasi unigeniti a Patre plenum gratiae et veritatis .
ወውእቱ ቃል ሥጋ ኮነ ወኀደረ ላዕሌነ ወርኢነ ስብሐቲሁ ከመ ስብሐተ አሐዱ ዋሕድ ለአቡሁ ዘምሉእ ጸጋ ወጽድቀ ወሞገሰ ።
The Word became flesh and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the only born Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.
1:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἰωάννης μαρτυρεῖ περὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ κέκραγεν λέγων · οὗτος ἦν ὃν εἶπον · ὁ ὀπίσω μου ἐρχόμενος ἔμπροσθέν μου γέγονεν , ὅτι πρῶτός μου ἦν .
Joannes testimonium perhibet de ipso , et clamat dicens : Hic erat quem dixi : Qui post me venturus est , ante me factus est : quia prior me erat .
ዮሐንስ ሰማዕቱ በእንቲኣሁ ከልሐ ወይቤ ዝውእቱ ዘእቤለክሙ አነ በእንቲኣሁ ይመጽእ እምድኅሬየ ብእሲ ዘሀሎ እምቅድሜየ እስመ ውእቱ ቀደመኒ ።
John testified about him. He cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.’”
1:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ πληρώματος αὐτοῦ ἡμεῖς πάντες ἐλάβομεν , καὶ χάριν ἀντὶ χάριτος ·
Et de plenitudine ejus nos omnes accepimus , et gratiam pro gratia :
እስመ እምተረፈ ዚኣሁ ነሣእነ ንሕነ ኵልነ ጸጋ በዲበ ጸጋ ።
From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.
1:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι ὁ νόμος διὰ Μωϋσέως ἐδόθη , ἡ χάρις καὶ ἡ ἀλήθεια διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐγένετο .
quia lex per Moysen data est , gratia et veritas per Jesum Christum facta est .
እስመ ኦሪት በሙሴ ተውህበት ለነ ጸጋሰ ወጽድቅ በኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ኮነ ለነ ።
For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.
1:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ θεὸν οὐδεὶς ἑώρακεν πώποτε · ὁ μονογενὴς υἱὸς ὁ ὢν εἰς τὸν κόλπον τοῦ πατρός , ἐκεῖνος ἐξηγήσατο .
Deum nemo vidit umquam : unigenitus Filius , qui est in sinu Patris , ipse enarravit .
ለእግዚአብሔርሰ አልቦ ዘርእዮ ግሙራ አላ ወልድ ዋሕድ ዘሀሎ ውስተ ሕፅነ አቡሁ ውእቱ ነገረነ ።
No one has seen God at any time. The only born Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared him.
1:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ αὕτη ἐστὶν ἡ μαρτυρία τοῦ Ἰωάννου , ὅτε ἀπέστειλαν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι ἐξ Ἱεροσολύμων ἱερεῖς καὶ Λευείτας ἵνα ἐρωτήσωσιν αὐτόν · σὺ τίς εἶ ;
Et hoc est testimonium Joannis , quando miserunt Judaei ab Jerosolymis sacerdotes et Levitas ad eum ut interrogarent eum : Tu quis es ?
ወዝንቱ ውእቱ ስምዑ ለዮሐንስ አመ ለአኩ ኀቤሁ አይሁድ እምኢየሩሳሌም ካህናተ ወሌዋውያነ ከመ ይሰአልዎ ወይበልዎ መኑ አንተ ።
This is John’s testimony, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”
1:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὡμολόγησεν καὶ οὐκ ἠρνήσατο , καὶ ὡμολόγησεν ὅτι ἐγὼ οὐκ εἰμὶ ὁ Χριστός .
Et confessus est , et non negavit , et confessus est : Quia non sum ego Christus .
ወአምነ ወኢክሕደ ከመ ኢኮነ ውእቱ ክርስቶስሃ ።
He declared, and didn’t deny, but he declared, “I am not the Christ.”
1:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτόν · τί οὖν ; Ἡλείας εἶ ; λέγει · οὐκ εἰμί . ὁ προφήτης εἶ σύ ; καὶ ἀπεκρίθη · οὔ .
Et interrogaverunt eum : Quid ergo ? Elias es tu ? Et dixit : Non sum . Propheta es tu ? Et respondit : Non .
ወይቤልዎ መኑ አንተ ኤልያስኑ አንተ ወይቤ ኢኮንኩ ወይቤልዎ ነቢይኑ አንተ ወይቤ አልቦ ።
They asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” He answered, “No.”
1:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπαν οὖν αὐτῷ · τίς εἶ ; ἵνα ἀπόκρισιν δῶμεν τοῖς πέμψασιν ἡμᾶς · τί λέγεις περὶ σεαυτοῦ ;
Dixerunt ergo ei : Quis es ut responsum demus his qui miserunt nos ? quid dicis de teipso ?
ወይቤልዎ መኑመ አንተ እንከ ከመ ናይድዖሙ ወናጠይቆሙ ለእለ ለአኩነ ወፈነዉነ ወመነ ትብል ርእሰከ ።
They said therefore to him, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”
1:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔφη · ἐγὼ φωνὴ βοῶντος ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ · εὐθύνατε τὴν ὁδὸν κυρίου , καθὼς εἶπεν Ἡσαΐας ὁ προφήτης .
Ait : Ego vox clamantis in deserto : Dirigite viam Domini , sicut dixit Isaias propheta .
ወይቤ አንሰ ቃለ ዐዋዲ ዘይሰብክ በገዳም ወይብል ጺሑአ ፍኖቶ ለእግዚአብሔር በከመ ይቤ ኢሳይያስ ነቢይ ።
He said, “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”
1:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἀπεσταλμένοι ἦσαν ἐκ τῶν Φαρισαίων .
Et qui missi fuerant , erant ex pharisaeis .
ወእለሰ ተፈነዉ እምፈሪሳውያን እሙንቱ ።
The ones who had been sent were from the Pharisees.
1:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ · τί οὖν βαπτίζεις , εἰ σὺ οὐκ εἶ ὁ Χριστὸς οὐδὲ Ἡλείας οὐδὲ ὁ προφήτης ;
Et interrogaverunt eum , et dixerunt ei : Quid ergo baptizas , si tu non es Christus , neque Elias , neque propheta ?
ወተስእልዎ ወይቤልዎ በእፎ እንከ ታጠምቅ ለእመ ኢኮንከ ክርስቶስሃ ወኢኤልያስሃ ወኢነቢየ ።
They asked him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?”
1:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰωάννης λέγων · ἐγὼ βαπτίζω ἐν ὕδατι · μέσος ὑμῶν στήκει , ὃν ὑμεῖς οὐκ οἴδατε ,
Respondit eis Joannes , dicens : Ego baptizo in aqua : medius autem vestrum stetit , quem vos nescitis .
ወአውሥአ ዮሐንስ ወይቤሎሙ አንሰ አጠምቀክሙ በማይ ወማእከሌክሙ ሀሎ ይቀውም ዘኢተአምርዎ አንትሙ ።
John answered them, “I baptize in water, but among you stands one whom you don’t know.
1:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ ὀπίσω μου ἐρχόμενος , οὗ οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐγὼ ἄξιος ἵνα λύσω αὐτοῦ τὸν ἱμάντα τοῦ ὑποδήματος .
Ipse est qui post me venturus est , qui ante me factus est : cujus ego non sum dignus ut solvam ejus corrigiam calceamenti .
ዘይመጽእ እምድኅሬየ ውእቱ ዘሀሎ እምቅድሜየ ዘኢይደልወኒ እፍታሕ ቶታነ አሣእኒሁ እምእገሪሁ ወውእቱ ያጠምቀክሙ በመንፈስ ቅዱስ ወበእሳት ።
He is the one who comes after me, who is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I’m not worthy to loosen.”
1:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ ταῦτα ἐν Βηθανίᾳ ἐγένετο πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου , ὅπου ἦν ὁ Ἰωάννης βαπτίζων .
Haec in Bethania facta sunt trans Jordanem , ubi erat Joannes baptizans .
ወከመዝ ኮነ በቢታንያ በቤተ ራባ ፥ በማዕዶተ ዮርዳኖስ በኀበ ሀሎ ዮሐንስ ያጠምቅ ።
These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
1:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τῇ ἐπαύριον βλέπει τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἐρχόμενον πρὸς αὐτόν , καὶ λέγει · ἴδε ὁ ἀμνὸς τοῦ θεοῦ ὁ αἴρων τὴν ἁμαρτίαν τοῦ κόσμου .
Altera die vidit Joannes Jesum venientem ad se , et ait : Ecce agnus Dei , ecce qui tollit peccatum mundi .
ወአመ ሳኒታ ርእዮ ዮሐንስ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ እንዘ ይመጽእ ኀቤሁ ወይቤ ነዋ በግዑ ለእግዚአብሔር ዘያአትት ወያሴስል ኀጢአተ ዓለም ።
The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
1:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὗτός ἐστιν ὑπὲρ οὗ ἐγὼ εἶπον · ὀπίσω μου ἔρχεται ἀνὴρ ὃς ἔμπροσθέν μου γέγονεν , ὅτι πρῶτός μου ἦν .
Hic est de quo dixi : Post me venit vir qui ante me factus est : quia prior me erat :
ዝንቱ ውእቱ ዘእቤለክሙ አነ በእንቲኣሁ ይመጽእ እምድኅሬየ ብእሲ ዘሀሎ እምቅድሜየ እስመ እምቅድሜየ ውእቱ ኮነ ።
This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.’
1:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ κἀγὼ οὐκ ᾔδειν αὐτόν , ἀλλ’ ἵνα φανερωθῇ τῷ Ἰσραήλ , διὰ τοῦτο ἦλθον ἐγὼ ἐν ὕδατι βαπτίζων .
et ego nesciebam eum , sed ut manifestetur in Israël , propterea veni ego in aqua baptizans .
ወአንሰ ኢየአምሮ ዳእሙ ከመ ያእምርዎ እስራኤል በእንተዝ መጻእኩ አነ ከመ አጥምቅ በማይ ።
I didn’t know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water, that he would be revealed to Israel.”
1:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐμαρτύρησεν Ἰωάννης λέγων ὅτι τεθέαμαι τὸ πνεῦμα καταβαῖνον ὡς περιστερὰν ἐξ οὐρανοῦ , καὶ ἔμεινεν ἐπ’ αὐτόν .
Et testimonium perhibuit Joannes , dicens : Quia vidi Spiritum descendentem quasi columbam de caelo , et mansit super eum .
ወነገረ ስምዖ ዮሐንስ ወይቤ ርኢኩ መንፈስ ቅዱስ እንዘ ይወርድ እምሰማይ ከመ እንተ ርግብ ወይነብር ዲቤሁ ።
John testified, saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.
1:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ κἀγὼ οὐκ ᾔδειν αὐτόν , ἀλλ’ ὁ πέμψας με βαπτίζειν ἐν ὕδατι , ἐκεῖνός μοι εἶπεν · ἐφ’ ὃν ἂν ἴδῃς τὸ πνεῦμα καταβαῖνον καὶ μένον ἐπ’ αὐτόν , οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ βαπτίζων ἐν πνεύματι ἁγίῳ .
Et ego nesciebam eum : sed qui misit me baptizare in aqua , ille mihi dixit : Super quem videris Spiritum descendentem , et manentem super eum , hic est qui baptizat in Spiritu Sancto .
ወአንሰ ኢየአምሮ ወባሕቱ ዘፈነወኒ ከመ አጥምቅ በማይ ውእቱ ይቤለኒ ዲበ ዘርኢከ ይወርድ መንፈስ ቅዱስ ወይነብር ዲቤሁ ውእቱኬ ዘያጠምቅ በመንፈስ ቅዱስ ።
I didn’t recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘On whomever you will see the Spirit descending and remaining on him is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’
1:34 ⧉ ⤴︎ κἀγὼ ἑώρακα , καὶ μεμαρτύρηκα ὅτι οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ .
Et ego vidi : et testimonium perhibui quia hic est Filius Dei .
ወለልየ ርኢኩ ወአነ ሰማዕቱ ከመ ዝንቱ ውእቱ ወልዱ ለእግዚአብሔር ።
I have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.”
1:35 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τῇ ἐπαύριον πάλιν εἱστήκει ὁ Ἰωάννης καὶ ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ δύο ,
Altera die iterum stabat Joannes , et ex discipulis ejus duo .
ወበሳኒታ ካዕበ እንዘ ይቀውም ዮሐንስ ወክልኤቱ እምአርዳኢሁ ።
Again, the next day, John was standing with two of his disciples,
1:36 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐμβλέψας τῷ Ἰησοῦ περιπατοῦντι λέγει · ἴδε ὁ ἀμνὸς τοῦ θεοῦ .
Et respiciens Jesum ambulantem , dicit : Ecce agnus Dei .
ርእዮ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ እንዘ የሐውር ወይቤ ነዋ በግዑ ለእግዚአብሔር ዘያአትት ወያሴስል ኀጢአተ ዓለም ።
and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”
1:37 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἤκουσαν οἱ δύο μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος , καὶ ἠκολούθησαν τῷ Ἰησοῦ .
Et audierunt eum duo discipuli loquentem , et secuti sunt Jesum .
ወሰምዕዎ ክልኤሆሙ አርዳኢሁ እንዘ ይብል ከመዝ ወተለውዎ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ።
The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
1:38 ⧉ ⤴︎ στραφεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ θεασάμενος αὐτοὺς ἀκολουθοῦντας λέγει αὐτοῖς ·
Conversus autem Jesus , et videns eos sequentes se , dicit eis : Quid quaeritis ? Qui dixerunt ei : Rabbi (quod dicitur interpretatum Magister ), ubi habitas ?
ወተመዪጦ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ርእዮሙ እንዘ ይተልውዎ ወይቤሎሙ ምንተ ተኀሥሡ ።
Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), “where are you staying?”
1:39 ⧉ ⤴︎ τί ζητεῖτε ; οἱ δὲ εἶπαν αὐτῷ · ῥαββεί , ὃ λέγεται ἑρμηνευόμενον διδάσκαλε , ποῦ μένεις ;
Dicit eis : Venite et videte . Venerunt , et viderunt ubi maneret , et apud eum manserunt die illo : hora autem erat quasi decima .
ወይቤልዎ ረቢ ዘበትርጓሜሁ ሊቅ ብሂል አይቴ ተኀድር ።
He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.
1:40 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγει αὐτοῖς · ἔρχεσθε καὶ ὄψεσθε . ἦλθαν οὖν καὶ εἶδαν ποῦ μένει , καὶ παρ’ αὐτῷ ἔμειναν τὴν ἡμέραν ἐκείνην · ὥρα ἦν ὡς δεκάτη .
Erat autem Andreas , frater Simonis Petri , unus ex duobus qui audierant a Joanne , et secuti fuerant eum .
ወይቤሎሙ ንዑ ትርአዩ ኀበ አኀድር ወሖሩ ወርእዩ ኀበ የኀድር ወወዐሉ ኀቤሁ ይእተ ዕለተ እስከ ዐሥሩ ሰዓት ።
One of the two who heard John and followed him was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
1:41 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἦν Ἀνδρέας ὁ ἀδελφὸς Σίμωνος Πέτρου εἷς ἐκ τῶν δύο τῶν ἀκουσάντων παρὰ Ἰωάννου καὶ ἀκολουθησάντων αὐτῷ ·
Invenit hic primum fratrem suum Simonem , et dicit ei : Invenimus Messiam (quod est interpretatum Christus ).
ወአሐዱ ውእቱ እንድርያስ እኍሁ ለስምዖን ጴጥሮስ እምክልኤቱ እለ ሰምዑ በኀበ ዮሐንስ ወተለውዎ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ።
He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which is, being interpreted, Christ ).
1:42 ⧉ ⤴︎ εὑρίσκει οὗτος πρῶτος τὸν ἀδελφὸν τὸν ἴδιον Σίμωνα καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ · εὑρήκαμεν τὸν Μεσσίαν , ὅ ἐστιν μεθερμηνευόμενον Χριστός .
Et adduxit eum ad Jesum . Intuitus autem eum Jesus , dixit : Tu es Simon , filius Jona ; tu vocaberis Cephas , quod interpretatur Petrus .
ወለሊሁ አቅደመ ረኪበ እኅዋሁ ስምዖንሃ ወይቤሎ ረከብናሁ ለማስያስ ዘበትርጓሜሁ ይብልዎ ክርስቶስ ።
He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is by interpretation, Peter).
1:43 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἤγαγεν αὐτὸν πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν . ἐμβλέψας αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν · σὺ εἶ Σίμων ὁ υἱὸς Ἰωάννου , σὺ κληθήσῃ Κηφᾶς , ὃ ἑρμηνεύεται Πέτρος .
In crastinum voluit exire in Galilaeam , et invenit Philippum . Et dicit ei Jesus : Sequere me .
ወውእቱ ወሰዶ ኀበ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወሶበ ርእዮ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ይቤሎ አንተኑ ስምዖን ወልደ ዮና አንተኬ ትሰመይ ኬፋ ዘበትርጓሜሁ ጴጥሮስ ።
On the next day, he was determined to go out into Galilee, and he found Philip. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.”
1:44 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τῇ ἐπαύριον ἠθέλησεν ἐξελθεῖν εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν , καὶ εὑρίσκει Φίλιππον . καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς , ἀκολούθει μοι .
Erat autem Philippus a Bethsaida , civitate Andreae et Petri .
ወበሳኒታ ፈቀደ ይሑር ገሊላ ወረከቦ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ለፊልጶስ ወይቤሎ ትልወኒ ።
Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
1:45 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἦν δὲ ὁ Φίλιππος ἀπὸ Βηθσαϊδά , ἐκ τῆς πόλεως Ἀνδρέου καὶ Πέτρου .
Invenit Philippus Nathanaël , et dicit ei : Quem scripsit Moyses in lege , et prophetae , invenimus Jesum filium Joseph a Nazareth .
ወውእቱሰ ፊልጶስ ዘቤተ ሳይዳ እምሀገረ እንድርያስ ወጴጥሮስ ።
Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets, wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
1:46 ⧉ ⤴︎ εὑρίσκει Φίλιππος τὸν Ναθαναὴλ καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ · ὃν ἔγραψεν Μωϋσῆς ἐν τῷ νόμῳ καὶ οἱ προφῆται , εὑρήκαμεν , Ἰησοῦν υἱὸν τοῦ Ἰωσὴφ τὸν ἀπὸ Ναζαρέτ .
Et dixit ei Nathanaël : A Nazareth potest aliquid boni esse ? Dicit ei Philippus : Veni et vide .
ወረከቦ ፊልጶስ ለናትናኤል ወይቤሎ ረከብናሁ ለኢየሱስ ወልደ ዮሴፍ ዘእምናዝሬት ዘጸሐፈ ሙሴ ውስተ ኦሪት ወነቢያትኒ ተነበዩ በእንቲአሁ ።
Nathanael said to him, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
1:47 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ναθαναήλ · ἐκ Ναζαρὲτ δύναταί τι ἀγαθὸν εἶναι ; λέγει αὐτῷ Φίλιππος · ἔρχου καὶ ἴδε .
Vidit Jesus Nathanaël venientem ad se , et dicit de eo : Ecce vere Israëlita , in quo dolus non est .
ወይቤሎ ናትናኤል ቦኑ ይትከሀል እምናዝሬት ከመ ይፃእ ብእሲ ኄር ወይቤሎ ፊልጶስ ነዓ ትርአይ ።
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said about him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”
1:48 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶδεν Ἰησοῦς τὸν Ναθαναὴλ ἐρχόμενον πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ λέγει περὶ αὐτοῦ · ἴδε ἀληθῶς Ἰσραηλείτης , ἐν ᾧ δόλος οὐκ ἔστιν .
Dicit ei Nathanaël : Unde me nosti ? Respondit Jesus , et dixit ei : Priusquam te Philippus vocavit , cum esses sub ficu , vidi te .
ወሶበ ርእዮ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ለናትናኤል እንዘ ይመጽእ ኀቤሁ ይቤ በእንቲኣሁ ነዋ ዘበአማን እስራኤላዊ ዘአልቦ ጽልሑት ውስተ ልቡ ።
Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
1:49 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγει αὐτῷ Ναθαναήλ · πόθεν με γινώσκεις ; ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ · πρὸ τοῦ σε Φίλιππον φωνῆσαι ὄντα ὑπὸ τὴν συκῆν εἶδόν σε .
Respondit ei Nathanaël , et ait : Rabbi , tu es Filius Dei , tu es rex Israël .
ወይቤሎ ናትናኤል በአይቴ ተአምረኒ ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎ እምቅድመ ይጸውዕከ ፊልጶስ ርኢኩከ በታሕተ ዕፀ በለስ ።
Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are King of Israel!”
1:50 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ Ναθαναήλ · ῥαββεί , σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ , σὺ βασιλεὺς εἶ τοῦ Ἰσραήλ .
Respondit Jesus , et dixit ei : Quia dixi tibi : Vidi te sub ficu , credis ; majus his videbis .
ወአውሥአ ናትናኤል ወይቤሎ ረቢ አማን አንተ ውእቱ ወልደ እግዚአብሔር ወንጉሠ እስራኤል አንተ ።
Jesus answered him, “Because I told you, ‘I saw you underneath the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these!”
1:51 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ · ὅτι εἶπόν σοι ὅτι εἶδόν σε ὑποκάτω τῆς συκῆς , πιστεύεις ; μείζω τούτων ὄψῃ . καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ · ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν , ὄψεσθε τὸν οὐρανὸν ἀνεῳγότα καὶ τοὺς ἀγγέλους τοῦ θεοῦ ἀναβαίνοντας καὶ καταβαίνοντας ἐπὶ τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου .
Et dicit ei : Amen , amen dico vobis , videbitis caelum apertum , et angelos Dei ascendentes , et descendentes supra Filium hominis .
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎ እስመ እመ እቤለከሁ ርኢኩከ በታሕተ ዕፀ በለስ ተአምንሁ እምይእዜሰ ዘየዐቢ እምዝ ትሬኢ ።
He said to him, “Most certainly, I tell you all, hereafter you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
1:52 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — ወይቤሎሙ አማን አማን እብለክሙ እምይእዜሰ ትሬእዩ እንዘ ይትረኀዋ ሰማያት ወመላእክተ እግዚአብሔር እንዘ የዐርጉ ወይወርዱ ኀበ ወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው ።
He said to him, “Most certainly, I tell you all, hereafter you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
