2:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ תִּקְע֨וּ שׁוֹפָ֜ר בְּצִיּ֗וֹן וְהָרִ֙יעוּ֙ בְּהַ֣ר קׇדְשִׁ֔י יִרְגְּז֕וּ כֹּ֖ל יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָ֑רֶץ כִּי ־בָ֥א יוֹם ־יְהֹוָ֖ה כִּ֥י קָרֽוֹב ׃
σαλπίσατε σάλπιγγι ἐν Σιων κηρύξατε ἐν ὄρει ἁγίῳ μου καὶ συγχυθήτωσαν πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὴν γῆν διότι πάρεστιν ἡμέρα κυρίου ὅτι ἐγγύς
Canite tuba in Sion , ululate in monte sancto meo , conturbentur omnes habitatores terrae : quia venit dies Domini , quia prope est .
ንፍኁ ፡ ቀርነ ፡ በጽዩን ፡ ወስብኩ ፡ በደብረ ፡ መቅደስየ ፡ ወይደንግፁ ፡ ኲሎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ እስመ ፡ በጽሐት ፡ ዕለተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወአልጸቀት ።
Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of Yahweh comes, for it is close at hand:
2:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ י֧וֹם חֹ֣שֶׁךְ וַאֲפֵלָ֗ה י֤וֹם עָנָן֙ וַעֲרָפֶ֔ל כְּשַׁ֖חַר פָּרֻ֣שׂ עַל ־הֶהָרִ֑ים עַ֚ם רַ֣ב וְעָצ֔וּם כָּמֹ֗הוּ לֹ֤א נִֽהְיָה֙ מִן ־הָ֣עוֹלָ֔ם וְאַֽחֲרָיו֙ לֹ֣א יוֹסֵ֔ף עַד ־שְׁנֵ֖י דּ֥וֹר וָדֽוֹר ׃
ἡμέρα σκότους καὶ γνόφου ἡμέρα νεφέλης καὶ ὁμίχλης ὡς ὄρθρος χυθήσεται ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη λαὸς πολὺς καὶ ἰσχυρός ὅμοιος αὐτῷ οὐ γέγονεν ἀπὸ τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ μετ’ αὐτὸν οὐ προστεθήσεται ἕως ἐτῶν εἰς γενεὰς γενεῶν
Dies tenebrarum et caliginis , dies nubis et turbinis ; quasi mane expansum super montes populus multus et fortis : similis ei non fuit a principio , et post eum non erit usque in annos generationis et generationis .
ዕለተ ፡ ጽልመት ፡ ወዐውሎ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ ደመና ፡ ወጊሜ ፡ ከመ ፡ ጎሕ ፡ ይዘረዉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ዙኅ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አድባር ፡ ወጽኑዕ ፡ ዘኢኮነ ፡ ካማሁ ፡ እምፍጥት ፡ ዓም ፡ ወኢይደግም ፡ እንከ ፡ እምድኀሬሁ ፡ እስከ ፡ ዓመተ ፡ ትውልደ ፡ ትልድ ።
A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness. As the dawn spreading on the mountains, a great and strong people; there has never been the like, neither will there be any more after them, even to the years of many generations.
2:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ לְפָנָיו֙ אָ֣כְלָה אֵ֔שׁ וְאַחֲרָ֖יו תְּלַהֵ֣ט לֶהָבָ֑ה כְּגַן ־עֵ֨דֶן הָאָ֜רֶץ לְפָנָ֗יו וְאַֽחֲרָיו֙ מִדְבַּ֣ר שְׁמָמָ֔ה וְגַם ־פְּלֵיטָ֖ה לֹא ־הָ֥יְתָה לּֽוֹ ׃
τὰ ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ πῦρ ἀναλίσκον καὶ τὰ ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ ἀναπτομένη φλόξ ὡς παράδεισος τρυφῆς ἡ γῆ πρὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ ὄπισθεν αὐτοῦ πεδίον ἀφανισμοῦ καὶ ἀνασῳζόμενος οὐκ ἔσται αὐτῷ
Ante faciem ejus ignis vorans , et post eum exurens flamma . Quasi hortus voluptatis terra coram eo , et post eum solitudo deserti , neque est qui effugiat eum .
ፈብጽምሂ ፡ እሳት ፡ ይበልዕ ፡ ወበከዋላሂ ፡ ያውዒ ፡ ነበልባል ። ከመ ፡ ገነተ ፡ ትፍሥሕት ፡ ምድር ፡ ቀዳሚሁ ፡ ወይገብዕ ፡ ድኀሬሁ ፡ ከመ ፡ በድወ ፡ ሐሩር ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘያመስጥ ፡ እምኔሁ ።
A fire devours before them, and behind them, a flame burns. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them, a desolate wilderness. Yes, and no one has escaped them.
2:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ כְּמַרְאֵ֥ה סוּסִ֖ים מַרְאֵ֑הוּ וּכְפָרָשִׁ֖ים כֵּ֥ן יְרוּצֽוּן ׃
ὡς ὅρασις ἵππων ἡ ὄψις αὐτῶν καὶ ὡς ἱππεῖς οὕτως καταδιώξονται
Quasi aspectus equorum , aspectus eorum ; et quasi equites , sic current .
ከመ ፡ ገጸ ፡ ፈረስ ፡ ገጾሙ ፡ ወረዋጽያን ፡ ከመ ፡ አፍራስ ።
Their appearance is as the appearance of horses, and they run as horsemen.
2:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ כְּק֣וֹל מַרְכָּב֗וֹת עַל ־רָאשֵׁ֤י הֶהָרִים֙ יְרַקֵּד֔וּן כְּקוֹל֙ לַ֣הַב אֵ֔שׁ אֹכְלָ֖ה קָ֑שׁ כְּעַ֣ם עָצ֔וּם עֱר֖וּךְ מִלְחָמָֽה ׃
ὡς φωνὴ ἁρμάτων ἐπὶ τὰς κορυφὰς τῶν ὀρέων ἐξαλοῦνται καὶ ὡς φωνὴ φλογὸς πυρὸς κατεσθιούσης καλάμην καὶ ὡς λαὸς πολὺς καὶ ἰσχυρὸς παρατασσόμενος εἰς πόλεμον
Sicut sonitus quadrigarum super capita montium exilient , sicut sonitus flammae ignis devorantis stipulam , velut populus fortis praeparatus ad praelium .
ወከመ ፡ ድምፅ ፡ ሠረገላ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አርእስተ ፡ አድባር ፡ ይሜርዱ ፡ ወከመ ፤ደምፀ ፡ ነበልባ ፡ እንተ ፡ ትበልዕ ፡ ብርዐ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ሠራዊት ፡ ብዙኃን ፡ ዋጽኑዓን ፡ እለ ፡ ይታቃተሉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መራድ ።
Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains, they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble, like a strong people set in battle array.
2:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ מִפָּנָ֖יו יָחִ֣ילוּ עַמִּ֑ים כׇּל ־פָּנִ֖ים קִבְּצ֥וּ פָארֽוּר ׃
ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ συντριβήσονται λαοί πᾶν πρόσωπον ὡς πρόσκαυμα χύτρας
A facie ejus cruciabuntur populi ; omnes vultus redigentur in ollam .
ወይትቀጠቀጡ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጹ ፡ ወይከውን ፡ ገጸ ፡ ወይከውን ፡ ገጸ ፡ ኲሎሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ላሽበ ፡ መቅጹት ።
At their presence the peoples are in anguish. All faces have grown pale.
2:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ כְּגִבּוֹרִ֣ים יְרֻצ֔וּן כְּאַנְשֵׁ֥י מִלְחָמָ֖ה יַעֲל֣וּ חוֹמָ֑ה וְאִ֤ישׁ בִּדְרָכָיו֙ יֵֽלֵכ֔וּן וְלֹ֥א יְעַבְּט֖וּן אֹרְחוֹתָֽם ׃
ὡς μαχηταὶ δραμοῦνται καὶ ὡς ἄνδρες πολεμισταὶ ἀναβήσονται ἐπὶ τὰ τείχη καὶ ἕκαστος ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ αὐτοῦ πορεύσεται καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐκκλίνωσιν τὰς τρίβους αὐτῶν
Sicut fortes current ; quasi viri bellatores ascendent murum : viri in viis suis gradientur , et non declinabunt a semitis suis .
ወይረውጹ ፡ ከመ ፡ መስተቃላን ፡ ዋካማ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ተባዕያን ፡ የዐርጉ ፡ አረፍተ ፡ ወኲሎሙ ፡ እንከ ፡ የሐውሩ ፡ በፍኖቶሙ ፡ ወኢይትገሐሱ ፡ እምፍኖቶሙ ።
They run like mighty men. They climb the wall like warriors. They each march in his line, and they don’t swerve off course.
2:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאִ֤ישׁ אָחִיו֙ לֹ֣א יִדְחָק֔וּן גֶּ֥בֶר בִּמְסִלָּת֖וֹ יֵלֵכ֑וּן וּבְעַ֥ד הַשֶּׁ֛לַח יִפֹּ֖לוּ לֹ֥א יִבְצָֽעוּ ׃
καὶ ἕκαστος ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἀφέξεται καταβαρυνόμενοι ἐν τοῖς ὅπλοις αὐτῶν πορεύσονται καὶ ἐν τοῖς βέλεσιν αὐτῶν πεσοῦνται καὶ οὐ μὴ συντελεσθῶσιν
Unusquisque fratrem suum non coarctabit , singuli in calle suo ambulabunt ; sed et per fenestras cadent , et non demolientur .
ወኢይትራኀቁ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ እምካኡ ፡ ጽውራኒሆሙ ፡ ንዋየ ፡ ሐቅሎሙ ፡ ይረውጹ ፡ ዋያኀልቁ ፡ በሐዖሙ ።
One doesn’t jostle another. They each march in their own path. They burst through the defenses and don’t break ranks.
2:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ בָּעִ֣יר יָשֹׁ֗קּוּ בַּֽחוֹמָה֙ יְרֻצ֔וּן בַּבָּתִּ֖ים יַעֲל֑וּ בְּעַ֧ד הַחַלּוֹנִ֛ים יָבֹ֖אוּ כַּגַּנָּֽב ׃
τῆς πόλεως ἐπιλήμψονται καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν τειχέων δραμοῦνται καὶ ἐπὶ τὰς οἰκίας ἀναβήσονται καὶ διὰ θυρίδων εἰσελεύσονται ὡς κλέπται
Urbem ingredientur , in muro current , domos conscendent , per fenestras intrabunt quasi fur .
ወያስተጋብኡ ፡ አህጉረ ፡ ወይረውጹ ፡ ዲበ ፡ አረፍት ፡ ወየዐርጉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አብያ ፡ ወይበውኡ ፡ እንተ ፡ መሳክው ፡ ከመ ፡ ሰረቅት ።
They rush on the city. They run on the wall. They climb up into the houses. They enter in at the windows like thieves.
2:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ לְפָנָיו֙ רָ֣גְזָה אֶ֔רֶץ רָעֲשׁ֖וּ שָׁמָ֑יִם שֶׁ֤מֶשׁ וְיָרֵ֙חַ֙ קָדָ֔רוּ וְכוֹכָבִ֖ים אָסְפ֥וּ נׇגְהָֽם ׃
πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν συγχυθήσεται ἡ γῆ καὶ σεισθήσεται ὁ οὐρανός ὁ ἥλιος καὶ ἡ σελήνη συσκοτάσουσιν καὶ τὰ ἄστρα δύσουσιν τὸ φέγγος αὐτῶν
A facie ejus contremuit terra , moti sunt caeli , sol et luna obtenebrati sunt , et stellae retraxerunt splendorem suum .
ወትደነግፅ ፡ ምድር ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጾሙ ፡ ወታድለቀልቅ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወትጸልም ፡ ፀሐይ ፡ ወወርኀ ፡ ወትጠፍእ ፡ ብርሃኖሙ ፡ ለከመዋክብት ።
The earth quakes before them. The heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.
2:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיהֹוָ֗ה נָתַ֤ן קוֹלוֹ֙ לִפְנֵ֣י חֵיל֔וֹ כִּ֣י רַ֤ב מְאֹד֙ מַחֲנֵ֔הוּ כִּ֥י עָצ֖וּם עֹשֵׂ֣ה דְבָר֑וֹ כִּֽי ־גָד֧וֹל יוֹם ־יְהֹוָ֛ה וְנוֹרָ֥א מְאֹ֖ד וּמִ֥י יְכִילֶֽנּוּ ׃
καὶ κύριος δώσει φωνὴν αὐτοῦ πρὸ προσώπου δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ ὅτι πολλή ἐστιν σφόδρα ἡ παρεμβολὴ αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἰσχυρὰ ἔργα λόγων αὐτοῦ διότι μεγάλη ἡ ἡμέρα τοῦ κυρίου μεγάλη καὶ ἐπιφανὴς σφόδρα καὶ τίς ἔσται ἱκανὸς αὐτῇ
Et Dominus dedit vocem suam ante faciem exercitus sui , quia multa sunt nimis castra ejus , quia fortia et facientia verbum ejus : magnus enim dies Domini , et terribilis valde , et quis sustinebit eum ?
ወይሁብ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ቃሎ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ገጸ ፡ ኀይሉ ፡ እስመ ፡ ብዙኀ ፡ ፈድፋደ ፡ ትዕይንቱ ፡ ወጽኑዑ ፡ ምግባረ ፡ ቃሉ ፡ እስመ ፡ ዓባይ ፡ እለተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወግርመት ፡ ወታስተርኢ ፡ ፈድፋደ ፡ ወምንት ፡ መጠና ፡ መኑ ፡ ይክላ ።
Yahweh thunders his voice before his army, for his forces are very great; for he is strong who obeys his command; for the day of Yahweh is great and very awesome, and who can endure it?
2:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְגַם ־עַתָּה֙ נְאֻם ־יְהֹוָ֔ה שֻׁ֥בוּ עָדַ֖י בְּכׇל ־לְבַבְכֶ֑ם וּבְצ֥וֹם וּבִבְכִ֖י וּבְמִסְפֵּֽד ׃
καὶ νῦν λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν ἐπιστράφητε πρός με ἐξ ὅλης τῆς καρδίας ὑμῶν καὶ ἐν νηστείᾳ καὶ ἐν κλαυθμῷ καὶ ἐν κοπετῷ
Nunc ergo , dicit Dominus , convertimini ad me in toto corde vestro , in jejunio , et in fletu , et in planctu .
ይእዜኒ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክ ፡ ተመየጡ ፡ ኀቤየ ፡ በኲሉ ፡ ልብክሙ ፡ በጾም ፡ ወበላሕ ፡ ወበብካይ ።
“Yet even now,” says Yahweh, “turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.”
2:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְקִרְע֤וּ לְבַבְכֶם֙ וְאַל ־בִּגְדֵיכֶ֔ם וְשׁ֖וּבוּ אֶל ־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם כִּֽי ־חַנּ֤וּן וְרַחוּם֙ ה֔וּא אֶ֤רֶךְ אַפַּ֙יִם֙ וְרַב ־חֶ֔סֶד וְנִחָ֖ם עַל ־הָרָעָֽה ׃
καὶ διαρρήξατε τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν καὶ μὴ τὰ ἱμάτια ὑμῶν καὶ ἐπιστράφητε πρὸς κύριον τὸν θεὸν ὑμῶν ὅτι ἐλεήμων καὶ οἰκτίρμων ἐστίν μακρόθυμος καὶ πολυέλεος καὶ μετανοῶν ἐπὶ ταῖς κακίαις
Et scindite corda vestra , et non vestimenta vestra ; et convertimini ad Dominum Deum vestrum , quia benignus et misericors est , patiens et multae misericordiae , et praestabilis super malitia .
ወሥጥጡ ፡ ልበክሙ ፡ ወአኮ ፡ አልባሲክሙ ፡ ወተመየጡ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክክሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ መሐሪ ፡ ወመስተሣህል ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ርኁቀ ፡ መዐት ፡ ወብዙኀ ፡ ምሕረት ፡ ወይኔስሕ ፡ በእንተ ፡ እኪት ።
Tear your heart and not your garments, and turn to Yahweh, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity.
2:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ מִ֥י יוֹדֵ֖עַ יָשׁ֣וּב וְנִחָ֑ם וְהִשְׁאִ֤יר אַחֲרָיו֙ בְּרָכָ֔ה מִנְחָ֣ה וָנֶ֔סֶךְ לַיהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם ׃ {פ}
τίς οἶδεν εἰ ἐπιστρέψει καὶ μετανοήσει καὶ ὑπολείψεται ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ εὐλογίαν θυσίαν καὶ σπονδὴν κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ ἡμῶν
Quis scit si convertatur , et ignoscat , et relinquat post se benedictionem , sacrificium et libamen Domino Deo vestro ?
መኑ ፡ የአምር ፡ እመ ፡ ይትመየጥ ፡ ወይኔስሕ ፡ ወያተርፍ ፡ ድኀሬሁ ፡ በረከተ ፡ ወመሥዋዕተ ፡ ወሞጻሕተ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክነ ።
Who knows? He may turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal offering and a drink offering to Yahweh, your God.
2:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ תִּקְע֥וּ שׁוֹפָ֖ר בְּצִיּ֑וֹן קַדְּשׁוּ ־צ֖וֹם קִרְא֥וּ עֲצָרָֽה ׃
σαλπίσατε σάλπιγγι ἐν Σιων ἁγιάσατε νηστείαν κηρύξατε θεραπείαν
Canite tuba in Sion , sanctificate jejunium , vocate coetum :
ንፍኁ ፡ ቀርነ ፡ በጽዩን ፡ ቀድሱ ፡ ጾመ ፡ ወስበኩ ፡ ምህልላ ።
Blow the trumpet in Zion! Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly.
2:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ אִסְפוּ ־עָ֞ם קַדְּשׁ֤וּ קָהָל֙ קִבְצ֣וּ זְקֵנִ֔ים אִסְפוּ֙ עֽוֹלָלִ֔ים וְיֹנְקֵ֖י שָׁדָ֑יִם יֵצֵ֤א חָתָן֙ מֵֽחֶדְר֔וֹ וְכַלָּ֖ה מֵחֻפָּתָֽהּ ׃
συναγάγετε λαόν ἁγιάσατε ἐκκλησίαν ἐκλέξασθε πρεσβυτέρους συναγάγετε νήπια θηλάζοντα μαστούς ἐξελθάτω νυμφίος ἐκ τοῦ κοιτῶνος αὐτοῦ καὶ νύμφη ἐκ τοῦ παστοῦ αὐτῆς
congregate populum , sanctificate ecclesiam , coadunate senes , congregate parvulos , et sugentes ubera ; egrediatur sponsus de cubili suo , et sponsa de thalamo suo .
አስተብኡ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ ዋቃድሱ ፡ ማኀበረክሙ ፡ ኀርዩ ፡ ሊቃውነተ ፡ አስተጋብኡ ፡ ሕፃናተ ፡ እለ ፡ ይጠብዉ ፡ ጥበ ፡ ይፃእ ፡ መርዓዊ ፡ እምጽርሑ ፡ ወመርዓት ፡ እመንጦላዕታ ።
Gather the people. Sanctify the assembly. Assemble the elders. Gather the children, and those who nurse from breasts. Let the bridegroom go out of his room, and the bride out of her chamber.
2:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ בֵּ֤ין הָאוּלָם֙ וְלַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ יִבְכּוּ֙ הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים מְשָׁרְתֵ֖י יְהֹוָ֑ה וְֽיֹאמְר֞וּ ח֧וּסָה יְהֹוָ֣ה עַל ־עַמֶּ֗ךָ וְאַל ־תִּתֵּ֨ן נַחֲלָתְךָ֤ לְחֶרְפָּה֙ לִמְשׇׁל ־בָּ֣ם גּוֹיִ֔ם לָ֚מָּה יֹאמְר֣וּ בָעַמִּ֔ים אַיֵּ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם ׃
ἀνὰ μέσον τῆς κρηπῖδος τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου κλαύσονται οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ λειτουργοῦντες κυρίῳ καὶ ἐροῦσιν φεῖσαι κύριε τοῦ λαοῦ σου καὶ μὴ δῷς τὴν κληρονομίαν σου εἰς ὄνειδος τοῦ κατάρξαι αὐτῶν ἔθνη ὅπως μὴ εἴπωσιν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ποῦ ἐστιν ὁ θεὸς αὐτῶν
Inter vestibulum et altare plorabunt sacerdotes , ministri Domini , et dicent : Parce , Domine , parce populo tuo ; et ne des haereditatem tuam in opprobrium , ut dominentur eis nationes . Quare dicunt in populis : Ubi est Deus eorum ?
ወይብክከየ ፡ ካህነት ፡ እ ፡ ላይሠውዑ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ በማእከለ ፡ አቅርንተ ፡ መስዋዕ ፡ ወይበሉ ፡ መሐክ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ሕዝበከ ፡ ወኢታኀስር ፡ ርስተከ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይንፅኅዎሙ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ ዋካማ ፡ ኢይበሉ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ አይቴ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ አምላኮሙ ።
Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, “Spare your people, Yahweh, and don’t give your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
2:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְקַנֵּ֥א יְהֹוָ֖ה לְאַרְצ֑וֹ וַיַּחְמֹ֖ל עַל ־עַמּֽוֹ ׃
καὶ ἐζήλωσεν κύριος τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐφείσατο τοῦ λαοῦ αὐτοῦ
Zelatus est Dominus terram suam , et pepercit populo suo .
ወቀንአ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለምድሩ ፡ ወመሐኮሙ ፡ ለሕዝቡ ።
Then Yahweh was jealous for his land, and had pity on his people.
2:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֨עַן יְהֹוָ֜ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְעַמּ֗וֹ הִנְנִ֨י שֹׁלֵ֤חַ לָכֶם֙ אֶת ־הַדָּגָן֙ וְהַתִּיר֣וֹשׁ וְהַיִּצְהָ֔ר וּשְׂבַעְתֶּ֖ם אֹת֑וֹ וְלֹא ־אֶתֵּ֨ן אֶתְכֶ֥ם ע֛וֹד חֶרְפָּ֖ה בַּגּוֹיִֽם ׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη κύριος καὶ εἶπεν τῷ λαῷ αὐτοῦ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐξαποστέλλω ὑμῖν τὸν σῖτον καὶ τὸν οἶνον καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον καὶ ἐμπλησθήσεσθε αὐτῶν καὶ οὐ δώσω ὑμᾶς οὐκέτι εἰς ὀνειδισμὸν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσι
Et respondit Dominus , et dixit populo suo : Ecce ego mittam vobis frumentum , et vinum , et oleum , et replebimini eis ; et non dabo vos ultra opprobrium in gentibus .
ወተሠጥዎሙ ፡ እግዚብሔር ፡ ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ለሕዝቡ ፡ ናሁ ፡ እነ ፡ እፌኑ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ እክለ ፡ ወወይነ ፡ ወዘይተ ፡ ወትጸግቡ ፡ ወኢይሬስየክሙ ፡ ጽዕለተ ፡ ለአህዛብ ።
Yahweh answered his people, “Behold, I will send you grain, new wine, and oil, and you will be satisfied with them; and I will no more make you a reproach among the nations.
2:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְֽאֶת ־הַצְּפוֹנִ֞י אַרְחִ֣יק מֵעֲלֵיכֶ֗ם וְהִדַּחְתִּיו֮ אֶל ־אֶ֣רֶץ צִיָּ֣ה וּשְׁמָמָה֒ אֶת ־פָּנָ֗יו אֶל ־הַיָּם֙ הַקַּדְמֹנִ֔י וְסֹפ֖וֹ אֶל ־הַיָּ֣ם הָאַחֲר֑וֹן וְעָלָ֣ה בׇאְשׁ֗וֹ וְתַ֙עַל֙ צַחֲנָת֔וֹ כִּ֥י הִגְדִּ֖יל לַעֲשֽׂוֹת ׃
καὶ τὸν ἀπὸ βορρᾶ ἐκδιώξω ἀφ’ ὑμῶν καὶ ἐξώσω αὐτὸν εἰς γῆν ἄνυδρον καὶ ἀφανιῶ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν τὴν πρώτην καὶ τὰ ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν τὴν ἐσχάτην καὶ ἀναβήσεται ἡ σαπρία αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀναβήσεται ὁ βρόμος αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἐμεγάλυνεν τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ
Et eum qui ab aquilone est procul faciam a vobis , et expellam eum in terram inviam et desertam : faciem ejus contra mare orientale , et extremum ejus ad mare novissimum : et ascendet foetor ejus , et ascendet putredo ejus , quia superbe egit .
ወእሰድዶሙ ፡ እምኔክሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ መንገለ ፡ ደብብ ፡ ወእሰድዶሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ በድው ፡ ወአጠፍኦሙ ፡ ፍጽሞሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቀዳሚት ፡ ባሕር ፡ ወየዐርግ ፡ ጺአቱ ፡ ወየዐርግ ፡ ንስሐቱ ፡ እስመ ፡ አዕበየ ፡ ምግባሮ ።
But I will remove the northern army far away from you, and will drive it into a barren and desolate land, its front into the eastern sea, and its back into the western sea; and its stench will come up, and its bad smell will rise.” Surely he has done great things.
2:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ אַל ־תִּֽירְאִ֖י אֲדָמָ֑ה גִּ֣ילִי וּשְׂמָ֔חִי כִּֽי ־הִגְדִּ֥יל יְהֹוָ֖ה לַעֲשֽׂוֹת ׃
θάρσει γῆ χαῖρε καὶ εὐφραίνου ὅτι ἐμεγάλυνεν κύριος τοῦ ποιῆσαι
Noli timere , terra : exsulta , et laetare , quoniam magnificavit Dominus ut faceret .
ተአመኒ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወተፈሥሒ ፡ ወተኀሠዩ ፡ እስመ ፡ አዕበየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከከመ ፡ ይገበር ።
Land, don’t be afraid. Be glad and rejoice, for Yahweh has done great things.
2:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ אַל ־תִּֽירְאוּ֙ בַּהֲמ֣וֹת שָׂדַ֔י כִּ֥י דָשְׁא֖וּ נְא֣וֹת מִדְבָּ֑ר כִּי ־עֵץ֙ נָשָׂ֣א פִרְי֔וֹ תְּאֵנָ֥ה וָגֶ֖פֶן נָתְנ֥וּ חֵילָֽם ׃
θαρσεῖτε κτήνη τοῦ πεδίου ὅτι βεβλάστηκεν πεδία τῆς ἐρήμου ὅτι ξύλον ἤνεγκεν τὸν καρπὸν αὐτοῦ ἄμπελος καὶ συκῆ ἔδωκαν τὴν ἰσχὺν αὐτῶν
Nolite timere , animalia regionis , quia germinaverunt speciosa deserti ; quia lignum attulit fructum suum , ficus et vinea dederunt virtutem suam .
ተአመኑ ፡ እንስሳ ፡ ገዳም ፡ እስመ ፡ ብዕላ ፡ አሕቃላተ ፡ በድው ፡ ወፈርየ ፡ ዕፅ ፡ ወወይን ፡ ወበለስ ፡ ዋሀቡ ፡ ኃይሎሙ ።
Don’t be afraid, you animals of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness spring up, for the tree bears its fruit. The fig tree and the vine yield their strength.
2:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבְנֵ֣י צִיּ֗וֹן גִּ֤ילוּ וְשִׂמְחוּ֙ בַּיהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֔ם כִּֽי ־נָתַ֥ן לָכֶ֛ם אֶת ־הַמּוֹרֶ֖ה לִצְדָקָ֑ה וַיּ֣וֹרֶד לָכֶ֗ם גֶּ֛שֶׁם מוֹרֶ֥ה וּמַלְק֖וֹשׁ בָּרִאשֽׁוֹן ׃
καὶ τὰ τέκνα Σιων χαίρετε καὶ εὐφραίνεσθε ἐπὶ τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ ὑμῶν διότι ἔδωκεν ὑμῖν τὰ βρώματα εἰς δικαιοσύνην καὶ βρέξει ὑμῖν ὑετὸν πρόιμον καὶ ὄψιμον καθὼς ἔμπροσθεν
Et , filii Sion , exsultate , et laetamini in Domino Deo vestro , quia dedit vobis doctorem justitiae , et descendere faciet ad vos imbrem matutinum et serotinum , sicut in principio .
ተፈስሑ ፡ ወተኀሠዩ ፡ በእግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክክሙ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ጽዩን ፡ እስመ ፡ ወሀበክሙ ፡ ሲሳየ ፡ ጽድቅ ፡ ወያዘንመ ፡ ላክሙ ፡ ጸደየ ፡ ወመጸወ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትካት ።
“Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in Yahweh, your God; for he gives you the early rain in just measure, and he causes the rain to come down for you, the early rain and the latter rain, as before.
2:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּמָלְא֥וּ הַגֳּרָנ֖וֹת בָּ֑ר וְהֵשִׁ֥יקוּ הַיְקָבִ֖ים תִּיר֥וֹשׁ וְיִצְהָֽר ׃
καὶ πλησθήσονται αἱ ἅλωνες σίτου καὶ ὑπερεκχυθήσονται αἱ ληνοὶ οἴνου καὶ ἐλαίου
Et implebuntur areae frumento , et redundabunt torcularia vino et oleo .
ወይመልዕ ፡ ዐውደ ፡ እክል ፡ ወይትከዐው ፡ ምክያደ ፡ ወይን ፡ ወዘይት ።
The threshing floors will be full of wheat, and the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.
2:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְשִׁלַּמְתִּ֤י לָכֶם֙ אֶת ־הַשָּׁנִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר֙ אָכַ֣ל הָאַרְבֶּ֔ה הַיֶּ֖לֶק וְהֶחָסִ֣יל וְהַגָּזָ֑ם חֵילִי֙ הַגָּד֔וֹל אֲשֶׁ֥ר שִׁלַּ֖חְתִּי בָּכֶֽם ׃
καὶ ἀνταποδώσω ὑμῖν ἀντὶ τῶν ἐτῶν ὧν κατέφαγεν ἡ ἀκρὶς καὶ ὁ βροῦχος καὶ ἡ ἐρυσίβη καὶ ἡ κάμπη ἡ δύναμίς μου ἡ μεγάλη ἣν ἐξαπέστειλα εἰς ὑμᾶς
Et reddam vobis annos , quos comedit locusta , bruchus , et rubigo , et eruca : fortitudo mea magna quam misi in vos .
ወእፈድየክሙ ፡ ህየንተ ፡ ዓመት ፡ ዘበልዓ ፡ አንበጣ ፡ ወዕፄ ፡ ወዳጎብያ ፡ ወአናኲዕ ፡ ኃይልየ ፡ ዘፈነውኩ ፡ ላዕሌክሙ ።
I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I sent among you.
2:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַאֲכַלְתֶּ֤ם אָכוֹל֙ וְשָׂב֔וֹעַ וְהִלַּלְתֶּ֗ם אֶת ־שֵׁ֤ם יְהֹוָה֙ אֱלֹ֣הֵיכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁר ־עָשָׂ֥ה עִמָּכֶ֖ם לְהַפְלִ֑יא וְלֹא ־יֵבֹ֥שׁוּ עַמִּ֖י לְעוֹלָֽם ׃
καὶ φάγεσθε ἐσθίοντες καὶ ἐμπλησθήσεσθε καὶ αἰνέσετε τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν ἃ ἐποίησεν μεθ’ ὑμῶν εἰς θαυμάσια καὶ οὐ μὴ καταισχυνθῇ ὁ λαός μου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα
Et comedetis vescentes , et saturabimini ; et laudabitis nomen Domini Dei vestri , qui fecit mirabilia vobiscum ; et non confundetur populus meus in sempiternum .
ወተሴሰዩ ፡ ወብልዑ ፡ ወጽገቡ ፡ ወሰበሑ ፡ ስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክነ ፡ ስመ ፡ ገብረ ፡ ለክሙ ፡ መንክረ ፡ ወኢይትኀፈሩ ፡ እንከ ፡ ሕዝብየ ፡ ለዓለም ።
You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied, and will praise the name of Yahweh, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and my people will never again be disappointed.
2:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ וִידַעְתֶּ֗ם כִּ֣י בְקֶ֤רֶב יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אָ֔נִי וַאֲנִ֛י יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם וְאֵ֣ין ע֑וֹד וְלֹא ־יֵבֹ֥שׁוּ עַמִּ֖י לְעוֹלָֽם ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ Ισραηλ ἐγώ εἰμι καὶ ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἔτι πλὴν ἐμοῦ καὶ οὐ μὴ καταισχυνθῶσιν οὐκέτι πᾶς ὁ λαός μου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα
Et scietis quia in medio Israël ego sum , et ego Dominus Deus vester , et non est amplius ; et non confundetur populus meus in aeternum .
ወተአምሩ ፡ እከ ፡ ከመከ ፡ ሀሎኩ ፡ አነ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወአነ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክክሙ ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ባዕደ ፡ ዘእንቤለየ ፡ ወኢይትኀፈሩ ፡ እንከ ፡ ሕዝብየ ፡ ለዓለም ።
You will know that I am among Israel, and that I am Yahweh, your God, and there is no one else; and my people will never again be disappointed.
2:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — Et erit post haec : effundam spiritum meum super omnem carnem , et prophetabunt filii vestri et filiae vestrae : senes vestri somnia somniabunt , et juvenes vestri visiones videbunt .
ወእምድኅረ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ አክዑ ፡ እምነ ፡ መንፈስየ ፡ ላዕለከ ፡ ኲሉ ፡ ዘስጋ ፡ ወይትኔበዩ ፡ ደቂቅክሙ ፡ ወአዋድክሙ ፡ ወሊቃውንቲክሙኒ ፡ ሕልመ ፡ የሐለወሙ ፡ ወወራሲትክሙ ፡ ራእየ ፡ ይሬእዩ ።
“It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions.
2:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — Sed et super servos meos et ancillas in diebus illis effundam spiritum meum .
ወላዕለ ፡ አግብርትየ ፡ ወላዕለ ፡ አእማትየ ፡ ይእተ ፡ አሚረ ፡ እክኡ ፡ እምነ ፡ መንፈስየ ።
And also on the servants and on the handmaids in those days, I will pour out my Spirit.
2:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — Et dabo prodigia in caelo et in terra , sanguinem , et ignem , et vaporem fumi .
ወእገብር ፡ ተአምረ ፡ በሰማይ ፡ በላእሌ ፡ ወበምድር ፡ በታሕቱ ፡ ደመ ፡ ወእሳተ ፡ ወተነ ፡ ጢስ ።
I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth: blood, fire, and pillars of smoke.
2:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — Sol convertetur in tenebras , et luna in sanguinem , antequam veniat dies Domini magnus et horribilis .
ፀሐይኒ ፡ ይጸልም ፡ ወወርኅኒ ፡ ደመ ፡ ይከውን ፡ ዝንበለ ፡ ትብጻሕ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዓባይ ፡ እንተ ፡ ታስተርኢ ።
The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Yahweh comes.
2:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — Et erit : omnis qui invocaverit nomen Domini , salvus erit : quia in monte Sion et in Jerusalem erit salvatio , sicut dixit Dominus , et in residuis quos Dominus vocaverit .
ወኲሉ ፡ ዘጸውዐ ፡ ህቋ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ይድኅን ። እስመ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ደብረ ፡ ጽዩን ፡ ወኢየሩሳሌም ፡ ይድኅኑ ፡ በከመ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ውለ ፡ ይሜህሩ ፡ እለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ጸውዖሙ ።
It will happen that whoever will call on Yahweh’s name shall be saved; for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as Yahweh has said, and among the remnant, those whom Yahweh calls.
