8:1
וַ֭יַּעַן בִּלְדַּ֥ד הַשּׁוּחִ֗י וַיֹּאמַֽר׃
ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Βαλδαδ ὁ Σαυχίτης λέγει
Respondens autem Baldad Suhites, dixit :
ወእደ፡ ተናገረ፡ በልዳዶስ፡ አውኬናዊ፡ ተሰጥወ፡ ወይቤ።
Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,
8:2
עַד־אָ֥ן תְּמַלֶּל־אֵ֑לֶּה וְר֥וּחַ כַּ֝בִּ֗יר אִמְרֵי־פִֽיךָ׃
μέχρι τίνος λαλήσεις ταῦτα πνεῦμα πολυρῆμον τοῦ στόματός σου
Usquequo loqueris talia, et spiritus multiplex sermones oris tui ?
እስከ፡ ማእዜኑ፡ ትነብብ፡ ከመዝ፡ መንፈሰ፡ ነቢብኑ፡ ውስተ፡ አፉከ።
“How long will you speak these things? Shall the words of your mouth be a mighty wind?
8:3
הַ֭אֵל יְעַוֵּ֣ת מִשְׁפָּ֑ט וְאִם־שַׁ֝דַּ֗י יְעַוֵּת־צֶֽדֶק׃
μὴ ὁ κύριος ἀδικήσει κρίνων ἢ ὁ τὰ πάντα ποιήσας ταράξει τὸ δίκαιον
Numquid Deus supplantat judicium ? aut Omnipotens subvertit quod justum est ?
ቦኑ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ይኴንን፡ በዓመፃ፡ ወፈጣሬ፡ ኵሉ፡ የሀውኮኑ፡ ለጻድቅ።
Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert righteousness?
8:4
אִם־בָּנֶ֥יךָ חָֽטְאוּ־ל֑וֹ וַֽ֝יְשַׁלְּחֵ֗ם בְּיַד־פִּשְׁעָֽם׃
εἰ οἱ υἱοί σου ἥμαρτον ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ ἀπέστειλεν ἐν χειρὶ ἀνομίας αὐτῶν
Etiam si filii tui peccaverunt ei, et dimisit eos in manu iniquitatis suae :
እመሰኬ፡ አበሱ፡ ደቂቅከ፡ ቅድሜሁ፡ ፈነወ፡ በእንተ፡ ኃጢእቶሙ::
If your children have sinned against him, he has delivered them into the hand of their disobedience.
8:5
אִם־אַ֭תָּה תְּשַׁחֵ֣ר אֶל־אֵ֑ל וְאֶל־שַׁ֝דַּ֗י תִּתְחַנָּֽן׃
σὺ δὲ ὄρθριζε πρὸς κύριον παντοκράτορα δεόμενος
tu tamen si diluculo consurrexeris ad Deum, et Omnipotentem fueris deprecatus ;
ወአንተሰ፡ ጊሥ፡ ኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወጸሊ።
If you want to seek God diligently, make your supplication to the Almighty.
8:6
אִם־זַ֥ךְ וְיָשָׁ֗ר אָ֥֫תָּה כִּֽי־עַ֭תָּה יָעִ֣יר עָלֶ֑יךָ וְ֝שִׁלַּ֗ם נְוַ֣ת צִדְקֶֽךָ׃
εἰ καθαρὸς εἶ καὶ ἀληθινός δεήσεως ἐπακούσεταί σου ἀποκαταστήσει δέ σοι δίαιταν δικαιοσύνης
si mundus et rectus incesseris : statim evigilabit ad te, et pacatum reddet habitaculum justitiae tuae,
ለእመ፡ ጻድቅ፡ አንተ፡ ወንጹሕ፡ ይሰምዓከ፡ ፍጡነ፡ ስእለ፡ ተከ፡ ወየዓሥየከ፡ ፍዳ፡ ጽድቅከ።
If you were pure and upright, surely now he would awaken for you, and make the habitation of your righteousness prosperous.
8:7
וְהָיָ֣ה רֵאשִׁיתְךָ֣ מִצְעָ֑ר וְ֝אַחֲרִֽיתְךָ֗ יִשְׂגֶּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃
ἔσται οὖν τὰ μὲν πρῶτά σου ὀλίγα τὰ δὲ ἔσχατά σου ἀμύθητα
in tantum ut si priora tua fuerint parva, et novissima tua multiplicentur nimis.
ወእመ፡ ውኁድ፡ ቀዳሚትከ፡ አልቦ፡ ኊልቊ፡ ለደኃሪትከ።
Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase.
8:8
כִּֽי־שְׁאַל־נָ֭א לְדֹ֣ר רִישׁ֑וֹן וְ֝כוֹנֵ֗ן לְחֵ֣קֶר אֲבוֹתָֽם׃
ἐπερώτησον γὰρ γενεὰν πρώτην ἐξιχνίασον δὲ κατὰ γένος πατέρων
Interroga enim generationem pristinam, et diligenter investiga patrum memoriam
ከመዝ፡ ይብል፡ ኢዮብ፡ ይትከሃለኒኑ፡ እዕርግ፡ ሰማየ፡ ወእስርቅ፡ መዛግብቲሁ፡ ወእመቀ፡ ምድር፡ ከማሁ፡ ተሰአሎሙ፡ ለቀደምተ፡ ዓለም፡ ወሕትቶሙ፡ ለአበው፡ በበሕዘዚቢሆሙ።
“Please inquire of past generations. Find out about the learning of their fathers.
8:9
כִּֽי־תְמ֣וֹל אֲ֭נַחְנוּ וְלֹ֣א נֵדָ֑ע כִּ֤י צֵ֖ל יָמֵ֣ינוּ עֲלֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃
χθιζοὶ γάρ ἐσμεν καὶ οὐκ οἴδαμεν σκιὰ γάρ ἐστιν ἡμῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ὁ βίος
(hesterni quippe sumus, et ignoramus, quoniam sicut umbra dies nostri sunt super terram),
ሣሬት፡ ንሕነ፡ ወኢነአምር፡ ወጽላሎት፡ ውእቱ፡ ሕይወትነ፡ ዲበ፡ ምድር።
(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow.)
8:10
הֲלֹא־הֵ֣ם י֭וֹרוּךָ יֹ֣אמְרוּ לָ֑ךְ וּ֝מִלִּבָּ֗ם יוֹצִ֥אוּ מִלִּֽים׃
ἦ οὐχ οὗτοί σε διδάξουσιν καὶ ἀναγγελοῦσιν καὶ ἐκ καρδίας ἐξάξουσιν ῥήματα
et ipsi docebunt te, loquentur tibi, et de corde suo proferent eloquia.
ወእሙንቱ፡ ይሜህሩከ፡ ወይነግሩከ፡ ወያወጽኡ፡ ለከ፡ ነገረ፡ እምልቦሙ።
Shall they not teach you, tell you, and utter words out of their heart?
8:11
הֲיִֽגְאֶה־גֹּ֭מֶא בְּלֹ֣א בִצָּ֑ה יִשְׂגֶּה־אָ֥חוּ בְלִי־מָֽיִם׃
μὴ θάλλει πάπυρος ἄνευ ὕδατος ἢ ὑψωθήσεται βούτομον ἄνευ πότου
Numquid vivere potest scirpus absque humore ? aut crescere carectum sine aqua ?
ይበቊልኑ፡ ሣዕር፡ ዘእንበለ፡ ማይ፡ ወይልህቅኑ፡ ሐመልማል፡ ዘእንበለ፡ ይስቅይዎ፡፡ 12፡ ወኵሉ፡ ሣዕር፡ ዘኢይሰቲ፡ ማየ፡ ይየብሰ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ ይግምድዎ።
“Can the papyrus grow up without mire? Can the rushes grow without water?
8:12
עֹדֶ֣נּוּ בְ֭אִבּוֹ לֹ֣א יִקָּטֵ֑ף וְלִפְנֵ֖י כׇל־חָצִ֣יר יִיבָֽשׁ׃
ἔτι ὂν ἐπὶ ῥίζης καὶ οὐ μὴ θερισθῇ πρὸ τοῦ πιεῖν πᾶσα βοτάνη οὐχὶ ξηραίνεται
Cum adhuc sit in flore, nec carpatur manu, ante omnes herbas arescit.
—
While it is yet in its greenness, not cut down, it withers before any other reed.
8:13
כֵּ֗ן אׇ֭רְחוֹת כׇּל־שֹׁ֣כְחֵי אֵ֑ל וְתִקְוַ֖ת חָנֵ֣ף תֹּאבֵֽד׃
οὕτως τοίνυν ἔσται τὰ ἔσχατα πάντων τῶν ἐπιλανθανομένων τοῦ κυρίου ἐλπὶς γὰρ ἀσεβοῦς ἀπολεῖται
Sic viae omnium qui obliviscuntur Deum, et spes hypocritae peribit.
ከማሁ፡ ደኃሪቶሙ፡ ለኵሎሙ፡ እለ፡ ይረስዕዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወትጠፍእ፡ ተስፋሆሙ፡ ለኃጥአን።
So are the paths of all who forget God. The hope of the godless man will perish,
8:14
אֲשֶׁר־יָק֥וֹט כִּסְל֑וֹ וּבֵ֥ית עַ֝כָּבִ֗ישׁ מִבְטַחֽוֹ׃
ἀοίκητος γὰρ αὐτοῦ ἔσται ὁ οἶκος ἀράχνη δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀποβήσεται ἡ σκηνή
Non ei placebit vecordia sua, et sicut tela aranearum fiducia ejus.
ወምዝቡር፡ ውእቱ፡ ወሣሬት፡ ይከውን፡ ማኅደሮ።
whose confidence will break apart, whose trust is a spider’s web.
8:15
יִשָּׁעֵ֣ן עַל־בֵּ֭יתוֹ וְלֹ֣א יַעֲמֹ֑ד יַחֲזִ֥יק בּ֝֗וֹ וְלֹ֣א יָקֽוּם׃
ἐὰν ὑπερείσῃ τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ στῇ ἐπιλαβομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ ὑπομείνῃ
Innitetur super domum suam, et non stabit ; fulciet eam, et non consurget.
ወእመሂ፡ አጽንዖ፡ ለቤቱ፡ ኢይቀውም፡ ዘወጠነሂ፡ ኢይፌጽም።
He will lean on his house, but it will not stand. He will cling to it, but it will not endure.
8:16
רָטֹ֣ב ה֭וּא לִפְנֵי־שָׁ֑מֶשׁ וְעַ֥ל גַּ֝נָּת֗וֹ יֹנַקְתּ֥וֹ תֵצֵֽא׃
ὑγρὸς γάρ ἐστιν ὑπὸ ἡλίου καὶ ἐκ σαπρίας αὐτοῦ ὁ ῥάδαμνος αὐτοῦ ἐξελεύσεται
Humectus videtur antequam veniat sol, et in ortu suo germen ejus egredietur.
ወስሕቡብ፡ ውእቱ፡ ቤቱ፡ በታሕተ፡ ፀሐይ፡ ወውስተ፡ ገነቱ፡ ልምላሜሁ፡ ይየብሰ።
He is green before the sun. His shoots go out along his garden.
8:17
עַל־גַּ֭ל שׇׁרָשָׁ֣יו יְסֻבָּ֑כוּ בֵּ֖ית אֲבָנִ֣ים יֶחֱזֶֽה׃
ἐπὶ συναγωγὴν λίθων κοιμᾶται ἐν δὲ μέσῳ χαλίκων ζήσεται
Super acervum petrarum radices ejus densabuntur, et inter lapides commorabitur.
ወበእከዩሂ፡ የኀልቅ፡ ኃይሉ፡ ወማእከለ፡ ጾላእት፡ ይበይት፡ ወውስተ፡ ሐዝሐዝ፡ የሐዩ።
His roots are wrapped around the rock pile. He sees the place of stones.
8:18
אִם־יְבַלְּעֶ֥נּוּ מִמְּקֹמ֑וֹ וְכִ֥חֶשׁ בּ֝֗וֹ לֹ֣א רְאִיתִֽיךָ׃
ἐὰν καταπίῃ ὁ τόπος ψεύσεται αὐτόν οὐχ ἑόρακας τοιαῦτα
Si absorbuerit eum de loco suo, negabit eum, et dicet : Non novi te.
ወእመሰ፡ ውኅጦ፡ ምድር፡ ወሐሰዎ፡ ኢርኢኩ፡ ዘከመዝ፡ እስመ፡ ከማሁ፡ ይትገፈትዑ፡ ረሲዓን።
If he is destroyed from his place, then it will deny him, saying, ‘I have not seen you.’
8:19
הֶן־ה֭וּא מְשׂ֣וֹשׂ דַּרְכּ֑וֹ וּ֝מֵעָפָ֗ר אַחֵ֥ר יִצְמָֽחוּ׃
ὅτι καταστροφὴ ἀσεβοῦς τοιαύτη ἐκ δὲ γῆς ἄλλον ἀναβλαστήσει
Haec est enim laetitia viae ejus, ut rursum de terra alii germinentur.
ወካልእ፡ ይበቊል፡ እምድር።
Behold, this is the joy of his way. Out of the earth, others will spring.
8:20
הֶן־אֵ֭ל לֹ֣א יִמְאַס־תָּ֑ם וְלֹֽא־יַ֝חֲזִ֗יק בְּיַד־מְרֵעִֽים׃
ὁ γὰρ κύριος οὐ μὴ ἀποποιήσηται τὸν ἄκακον πᾶν δὲ δῶρον ἀσεβοῦς οὐ δέξεται
Deus non projiciet simplicem, nec porriget manum malignis,
እግዚአብሔርሰ፡ ኢይገድፎ፡ ለየዋህ፡ ወኢያጸንዕ፡ እደ፡ እኩያን፡ ወኢይትሜጦ፡ መባእ፡ ኃጥአን።
“Behold, God will not cast away a blameless man, neither will he uphold the evildoers.
8:21
עַד־יְמַלֵּ֣ה שְׂח֣וֹק פִּ֑יךָ וּשְׂפָתֶ֥יךָ תְרוּעָֽה׃
ἀληθινῶν δὲ στόμα ἐμπλήσει γέλωτος τὰ δὲ χείλη αὐτῶν ἐξομολογήσεως
donec impleatur risu os tuum, et labia tua jubilo.
አፈ፡ ራትዓን፡ ይመልእ፡ ሰሐቀ፡ ወየአምና፡ ከናፍሪሆሙ።
He will still fill your mouth with laughter, your lips with shouting.
8:22
שֹׂנְאֶ֥יךָ יִלְבְּשׁוּ־בֹ֑שֶׁת וְאֹ֖הֶל רְשָׁעִ֣ים אֵינֶֽנּוּ׃ {פ}
οἱ δὲ ἐχθροὶ αὐτῶν ἐνδύσονται αἰσχύνην δίαιτα δὲ ἀσεβοῦς οὐκ ἔσται
Qui oderunt te induentur confusione, et tabernaculum impiorum non subsistet.
ወጻላእቶሙኒ፡ ይለብሱ፡ ኃፍረተ፡ ወይጠፍእ፡ ቤተ፡ ኃጥአን።
Those who hate you will be clothed with shame. The tent of the wicked will be no more.”
