34:1
וַתֵּצֵ֤א דִינָה֙ בַּת־לֵאָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָלְדָ֖ה לְיַעֲקֹ֑ב לִרְא֖וֹת בִּבְנ֥וֹת הָאָֽרֶץ׃
ἐξῆλθεν δὲ Δινα ἡ θυγάτηρ Λειας ἣν ἔτεκεν τῷ Ιακωβ καταμαθεῖν τὰς θυγατέρας τῶν ἐγχωρίων
Egressa est autem Dina filia Liae ut videret mulieres regionis illius.
ወወፅአት ፡ ዲና ፡ ወለተ ፡ ልያ ፡ እንተ ፡ ወለደት ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትርአይ ፡ አዋልደ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ብሔር ።
Dinah, the daughter of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.
34:2
וַיַּ֨רְא אֹתָ֜הּ שְׁכֶ֧ם בֶּן־חֲמ֛וֹר הַֽחִוִּ֖י נְשִׂ֣יא הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיִּקַּ֥ח אֹתָ֛הּ וַיִּשְׁכַּ֥ב אֹתָ֖הּ וַיְעַנֶּֽהָ׃
καὶ εἶδεν αὐτὴν Συχεμ ὁ υἱὸς Εμμωρ ὁ Χορραῖος ὁ ἄρχων τῆς γῆς καὶ λαβὼν αὐτὴν ἐκοιμήθη μετ’ αὐτῆς καὶ ἐταπείνωσεν αὐτήν
Quam cum vidisset Sichem filius Hemor Hevaei, princeps terrae illius, adamavit eam : et rapuit, et dormivit cum illa, vi opprimens virginem.
ወርእያ ፡ ሴኬም ፡ ወልደ ፡ ኤሞር ፡ ኮርያዊ ፡ መልአከ ፡ ብሔር ፡ ወነሥኣ ፡ ወሰከበ ፡ ምስሌሃ ፡ ወአኅሰራ ።
Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her. He took her, lay with her, and humbled her.
34:3
וַתִּדְבַּ֣ק נַפְשׁ֔וֹ בְּדִינָ֖ה בַּֽת־יַעֲקֹ֑ב וַיֶּֽאֱהַב֙ אֶת־הַֽנַּעֲרָ֔ וַיְדַבֵּ֖ר עַל־לֵ֥ב הַֽנַּעֲרָֽ׃
καὶ προσέσχεν τῇ ψυχῇ Δινας τῆς θυγατρὸς Ιακωβ καὶ ἠγάπησεν τὴν παρθένον καὶ ἐλάλησεν κατὰ τὴν διάνοιαν τῆς παρθένου αὐτῇ
Et conglutinata est anima ejus cum ea, tristemque delinivit blanditiis.
ወርእያ ፡ ነፍስታ ፡ ለዲና ፡ ወለተ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወአፍቀራ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ድንግል ፡ ወተናገረ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ግዕዛ ።
His soul joined to Dinah, the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the young lady, and spoke kindly to the young lady.
34:4
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שְׁכֶ֔ם אֶל־חֲמ֥וֹר אָבִ֖יו לֵאמֹ֑ר קַֽח־לִ֛י אֶת־הַיַּלְדָּ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את לְאִשָּֽׁה׃
εἶπεν δὲ Συχεμ πρὸς Εμμωρ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ λέγων λαβέ μοι τὴν παιδίσκην ταύτην εἰς γυναῖκα
Et pergens ad Hemor patrem suum : Accipe, inquit, mihi puellam hanc conjugem.
ወይቤሎ ፡ ሴኬም ፡ ለኤሞር ፡ አቡሁ ፡ ንሥኣ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ለዛቲ ፡ ድንግል ፡ ትኩነኒ ፡ ብእሲተ ።
Shechem spoke to his father, Hamor, saying, “Get me this young lady as a wife.”
34:5
וְיַעֲקֹ֣ב שָׁמַ֗ע כִּ֤י טִמֵּא֙ אֶת־דִּינָ֣ה בִתּ֔וֹ וּבָנָ֛יו הָי֥וּ אֶת־מִקְנֵ֖הוּ בַּשָּׂדֶ֑ה וְהֶחֱרִ֥שׁ יַעֲקֹ֖ב עַד־בֹּאָֽם׃
Ιακωβ δὲ ἤκουσεν ὅτι ἐμίανεν ὁ υἱὸς Εμμωρ Διναν τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ ἦσαν μετὰ τῶν κτηνῶν αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ παρεσιώπησεν δὲ Ιακωβ ἕως τοῦ ἐλθεῖν αὐτούς
Quod cum audisset Jacob absentibus filiis, et in pastu pecorum occupatis, siluit donec redirent.
ወሰምዐ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ከመ ፡ አርኰሳ ፡ ለዲና ፡ ወለቱ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ኤሞር ፡ ወደቂቁሰ ፡ ሐቅለ ፡ ሀለው ፡ ምስለ ፡ እንስሳ ፡ ወአርመመ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ እስከ ፡ ይበጽሑ ።
Now Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah, his daughter; and his sons were with his livestock in the field. Jacob held his peace until they came.
34:6
וַיֵּצֵ֛א חֲמ֥וֹר אֲבִֽי־שְׁכֶ֖ם אֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֑ב לְדַבֵּ֖ר אִתּֽוֹ׃
ἐξῆλθεν δὲ Εμμωρ ὁ πατὴρ Συχεμ πρὸς Ιακωβ λαλῆσαι αὐτῷ
Egresso autem Hemor patre Sichem ut loqueretur ad Jacob,
ወመጽአ ፡ ኤሞር ፡ አቡሁ ፡ ለሴኬም ፡ ኀበ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይትናገሮ ።
Hamor the father of Shechem went out to Jacob to talk with him.
34:7
וּבְנֵ֨י יַעֲקֹ֜ב בָּ֤אוּ מִן־הַשָּׂדֶה֙ כְּשׇׁמְעָ֔ם וַיִּֽתְעַצְּבוּ֙ הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים וַיִּ֥חַר לָהֶ֖ם מְאֹ֑ד כִּֽי־נְבָלָ֞ה עָשָׂ֣ה בְיִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל לִשְׁכַּב֙ אֶת־בַּֽת־יַעֲקֹ֔ב וְכֵ֖ן לֹ֥א יֵעָשֶֽׂה׃
οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ιακωβ ἦλθον ἐκ τοῦ πεδίου ὡς δὲ ἤκουσαν κατενύχθησαν οἱ ἄνδρες καὶ λυπηρὸν ἦν αὐτοῖς σφόδρα ὅτι ἄσχημον ἐποίησεν ἐν Ισραηλ κοιμηθεὶς μετὰ τῆς θυγατρὸς Ιακωβ καὶ οὐχ οὕτως ἔσται
ecce filii ejus veniebant de agro : auditoque quod acciderat, irati sunt valde, eo quod foedam rem operatus esset in Israël et, violata filia Jacob, rem illicitam perpetrasset.
ወመጽኡ ፡ ደቂቁ ፡ እምሐቅል ፡ ወሶበ ፡ ሰምዑ ፡ ደንገፁ ፡ ጥቀ ፡ ወተከዙ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኀፍረተ ፡ ገብረ ፡ ሴኬም ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ዘከመ ፡ ሰከበ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ወለተ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወኢኮነ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ሕጉ ።
The sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it. The men were grieved, and they were very angry, because he had done folly in Israel in lying with Jacob’s daughter, a thing that ought not to be done.
34:8
וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר חֲמ֖וֹר אִתָּ֣ם לֵאמֹ֑ר שְׁכֶ֣ם בְּנִ֗י חָֽשְׁקָ֤ה נַפְשׁוֹ֙ בְּבִתְּכֶ֔ם תְּנ֨וּ נָ֥א אֹתָ֛הּ ל֖וֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃
καὶ ἐλάλησεν Εμμωρ αὐτοῖς λέγων Συχεμ ὁ υἱός μου προείλατο τῇ ψυχῇ τὴν θυγατέρα ὑμῶν δότε οὖν αὐτὴν αὐτῷ γυναῖκα
Locutus est itaque Hemor ad eos : Sichem filii mei adhaesit anima filiae vestrae : date eam illi uxorem :
ወተናገሮሙ ፡ ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ሴኬም ፡ ወልድየ ፡ አፍቀራ ፡ ለወለትክሙ ፡ ሀብዎ ፡ ትኩኖ ፡ ብእሲተ ።
Hamor talked with them, saying, “The soul of my son, Shechem, longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as a wife.
34:9
וְהִֽתְחַתְּנ֖וּ אֹתָ֑נוּ בְּנֹֽתֵיכֶם֙ תִּתְּנוּ־לָ֔נוּ וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵ֖ינוּ תִּקְח֥וּ לָכֶֽם׃
ἐπιγαμβρεύσασθε ἡμῖν τὰς θυγατέρας ὑμῶν δότε ἡμῖν καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας ἡμῶν λάβετε τοῖς υἱοῖς ὑμῶν
et jungamus vicissim connubia : filias vestras tradite nobis, et filias nostras accipite,
ወትትሐመውነ ፡ ሀቡነ ፡ አዋልዲክሙ ፡ ወአዋልዲነኒ ፡ ንሥኡ ፡ ለደቂቅክሙ ።
Make marriages with us. Give your daughters to us, and take our daughters for yourselves.
34:10
וְאִתָּ֖נוּ תֵּשֵׁ֑בוּ וְהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ תִּהְיֶ֣ה לִפְנֵיכֶ֔ם שְׁבוּ֙ וּסְחָר֔וּהָ וְהֵֽאָחֲז֖וּ בָּֽהּ׃
καὶ ἐν ἡμῖν κατοικεῖτε καὶ ἡ γῆ ἰδοὺ πλατεῖα ἐναντίον ὑμῶν κατοικεῖτε καὶ ἐμπορεύεσθε ἐπ’ αὐτῆς καὶ ἐγκτήσασθε ἐν αὐτῇ
et habitate nobiscum : terra in potestate vestra est : exercete, negotiamini, et possidete eam.
ወንበሩ ፡ ምስሌነ ፡ ወምድርሰ ፡ ናሁ ፡ ርሒብ ፡ ቅድሜክሙ ፡ ወኅድሩ ፡ ወተገበሩ ፡ ውስቴታ ።
You shall dwell with us, and the land will be before you. Live and trade in it, and get possessions in it.”
34:11
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר שְׁכֶם֙ אֶל־אָבִ֣יהָ וְאֶל־אַחֶ֔יהָ אֶמְצָא־חֵ֖ן בְּעֵינֵיכֶ֑ם וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר תֹּאמְר֛וּ אֵלַ֖י אֶתֵּֽן׃
εἶπεν δὲ Συχεμ πρὸς τὸν πατέρα αὐτῆς καὶ πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτῆς εὕροιμι χάριν ἐναντίον ὑμῶν καὶ ὃ ἐὰν εἴπητε δώσομεν
Sed et Sichem ad patrem et ad fratres ejus ait : Inveniam gratiam coram vobis : et quaecumque statueritis, dabo :
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ሴኬም ፡ ለአቡሃ ፡ ወለአኀዊሃ ፡ ረከብኩ ፡ ጸጋ ፡ በቅድሜክሙ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዘትብሉ ፡ እሁብ ።
Shechem said to her father and to her brothers, “Let me find favor in your eyes, and whatever you will tell me I will give.
34:12
הַרְבּ֨וּ עָלַ֤י מְאֹד֙ מֹ֣הַר וּמַתָּ֔ן וְאֶ֨תְּנָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר תֹּאמְר֖וּ אֵלָ֑י וּתְנוּ־לִ֥י אֶת־הַֽנַּעֲרָ֖ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃
πληθύνατε τὴν φερνὴν σφόδρα καὶ δώσω καθότι ἂν εἴπητέ μοι καὶ δώσετέ μοι τὴν παῖδα ταύτην εἰς γυναῖκα
augete dotem, et munera postulate, et libenter tribuam quod petieritis : tantum date mihi puellam hanc uxorem.
(ረስዩ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ዛተ ፡ ፍትሐ ፡ በቅድሜክሙ ፡ ወዘትቤሉ ፡) ወመጠነ ፡ አብዛኅክሙ ፡ ጥቀ ፡ ሕጼሃ ፡ እሁበክሙ ፡ ወሀቡኒያ ፡ ለዛቲ ፡ ወለት ፡ ትኩነኒ ፡ ብእሲተ ።
Ask me a great amount for a dowry, and I will give whatever you ask of me, but give me the young lady as a wife.”
34:13
וַיַּעֲנ֨וּ בְנֵֽי־יַעֲקֹ֜ב אֶת־שְׁכֶ֨ם וְאֶת־חֲמ֥וֹר אָבִ֛יו בְּמִרְמָ֖ה וַיְדַבֵּ֑רוּ אֲשֶׁ֣ר טִמֵּ֔א אֵ֖ת דִּינָ֥ה אֲחֹתָֽם׃
ἀπεκρίθησαν δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ Ιακωβ τῷ Συχεμ καὶ Εμμωρ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ μετὰ δόλου καὶ ἐλάλησαν αὐτοῖς ὅτι ἐμίαναν Διναν τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῶν
Responderunt filii Jacob Sichem et patri ejus in dolo, saevientes ob stuprum sororis :
ወአውሥእዎ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ለሴኬም ፡ ወለኤሞር ፡ አቡሁ ፡ በጕሕሉት ፡ ወይቤልዎሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ አርኰስዋ ፡ ለዲና ፡ እኅቶሙ ።
The sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father with deceit when they spoke, because he had defiled Dinah their sister,
34:14
וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם לֹ֤א נוּכַל֙ לַעֲשׂוֹת֙ הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה לָתֵת֙ אֶת־אֲחֹתֵ֔נוּ לְאִ֖ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־ל֣וֹ עׇרְלָ֑ה כִּֽי־חֶרְפָּ֥ה הִ֖וא לָֽנוּ׃
καὶ εἶπαν αὐτοῖς Συμεων καὶ Λευι οἱ ἀδελφοὶ Δινας υἱοὶ δὲ Λειας οὐ δυνησόμεθα ποιῆσαι τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο δοῦναι τὴν ἀδελφὴν ἡμῶν ἀνθρώπῳ ὃς ἔχει ἀκροβυστίαν ἔστιν γὰρ ὄνειδος ἡμῖν
Non possumus facere quod petitis, nec dare sororem nostram homini incircumciso : quod illicitum et nefarium est apud nos.
ወይቤልዎሙ ፡ ስምዖን ፡ ወሌዊ ፡ አኀዊሃ ፡ ለዲና ፡ ኢንክል ፡ ገቢሮቶ ፡ ለዝንቱ ፡ ነገር ፡ ከመ ፡ ነሀብ ፡ እኅተነ ፡ ለብእሲ ፡ ዘኢኮነ ፡ ግዙረ ፡ እስመ ፡ ፅእለት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ለነ ።
and said to them, “We can’t do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised; for that is a reproach to us.
34:15
אַךְ־בְּזֹ֖את נֵא֣וֹת לָכֶ֑ם אִ֚ם תִּהְי֣וּ כָמֹ֔נוּ לְהִמֹּ֥ל לָכֶ֖ם כׇּל־זָכָֽר׃
ἐν τούτῳ ὁμοιωθησόμεθα ὑμῖν καὶ κατοικήσομεν ἐν ὑμῖν ἐὰν γένησθε ὡς ἡμεῖς καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐν τῷ περιτμηθῆναι ὑμῶν πᾶν ἀρσενικόν
Sed in hoc valebimus foederari, si volueritis esse similes nostri, et circumcidatur in vobis omne masculini sexus ;
ወበዝንቱ ፡ ባሕቱ ፡ ትኩኑ ፡ ከማነ ፡ ወንነብር ፡ ምስሌክሙ ፡ ለእመ ፡ ገዘርክሙ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ተባዕተክሙ ።
Only on this condition will we consent to you. If you will be as we are, that every male of you be circumcised,
34:16
וְנָתַ֤נּוּ אֶת־בְּנֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙ לָכֶ֔ם וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵיכֶ֖ם נִֽקַּֽח־לָ֑נוּ וְיָשַׁ֣בְנוּ אִתְּכֶ֔ם וְהָיִ֖ינוּ לְעַ֥ם אֶחָֽד׃
καὶ δώσομεν τὰς θυγατέρας ἡμῶν ὑμῖν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων ὑμῶν λημψόμεθα ἡμῖν γυναῖκας καὶ οἰκήσομεν παρ’ ὑμῖν καὶ ἐσόμεθα ὡς γένος ἕν
tunc dabimus et accipiemus mutuo filias vestras ac nostras : et habitabimus vobiscum, erimusque unus populus.
ወንሁበክሙ ፡ አዋልዲነ ፡ ወንነሥእ ፡ አዋልዲክሙ ፡ ለነ ፡ አንስቲያ ፡ ወንነብር ፡ ምስሌክሙ ፡ ወንከውን ፡ አሐደ ፡ ዘመደ ።
then will we give our daughters to you; and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.
34:17
וְאִם־לֹ֧א תִשְׁמְע֛וּ אֵלֵ֖ינוּ לְהִמּ֑וֹל וְלָקַ֥חְנוּ אֶת־בִּתֵּ֖נוּ וְהָלָֽכְנוּ׃
ἐὰν δὲ μὴ εἰσακούσητε ἡμῶν τοῦ περιτέμνεσθαι λαβόντες τὰς θυγατέρας ἡμῶν ἀπελευσόμεθα
Si autem circumcidi nolueritis, tollemus filiam nostram, et recedemus.
ወለእመሰ ፡ ኢሰማዕክሙነ ፡ ንነሥእ ፡ አዋልዲነ ፡ ወነሐውር ።
But if you will not listen to us and be circumcised, then we will take our sister, and we will be gone.”
34:18
וַיִּֽיטְב֥וּ דִבְרֵיהֶ֖ם בְּעֵינֵ֣י חֲמ֑וֹר וּבְעֵינֵ֖י שְׁכֶ֥ם בֶּן־חֲמֽוֹר׃
καὶ ἤρεσαν οἱ λόγοι ἐναντίον Εμμωρ καὶ ἐναντίον Συχεμ τοῦ υἱοῦ Εμμωρ
Placuit oblatio eorum Hemor, et Sichem filio ejus,
ወአደሞሙ ፡ ለኤሞር ፡ ወለሴኬም ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ነገር ።
Their words pleased Hamor and Shechem, Hamor’s son.
34:19
וְלֹֽא־אֵחַ֤ר הַנַּ֙עַר֙ לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת הַדָּבָ֔ר כִּ֥י חָפֵ֖ץ בְּבַֽת־יַעֲקֹ֑ב וְה֣וּא נִכְבָּ֔ד מִכֹּ֖ל בֵּ֥ית אָבִֽיו׃
καὶ οὐκ ἐχρόνισεν ὁ νεανίσκος τοῦ ποιῆσαι τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο ἐνέκειτο γὰρ τῇ θυγατρὶ Ιακωβ αὐτὸς δὲ ἦν ἐνδοξότατος πάντων τῶν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ
nec distulit adolescens quin statim quod petebatur expleret : amabat enim puellam valde, et ipse erat inclytus in omni domo patris sui.
ወኢጐንደየ ፡ ገቢሮቶ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወልድ ፡ ለዝንቱ ፡ ነገር ፡ እስመ ፡ ያፈቅራ ፡ ለወለተ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ይከብር ፡ እምነ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ቤተ ፡ አቡሁ ።
The young man didn’t wait to do this thing, because he had delight in Jacob’s daughter, and he was honored above all the house of his father.
34:20
וַיָּבֹ֥א חֲמ֛וֹר וּשְׁכֶ֥ם בְּנ֖וֹ אֶל־שַׁ֣עַר עִירָ֑ם וַֽיְדַבְּר֛וּ אֶל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י עִירָ֖ם לֵאמֹֽר׃
ἦλθεν δὲ Εμμωρ καὶ Συχεμ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ πρὸς τὴν πύλην τῆς πόλεως αὐτῶν καὶ ἐλάλησαν πρὸς τοὺς ἄνδρας τῆς πόλεως αὐτῶν λέγοντες
Ingressique portam urbis, locuti sunt ad populum :
ወሖሩ ፡ ኤሞር ፡ ወሴኬም ፡ ውስተ ፡ አንጻረ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ወነገሩ ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ዕደወ ፡ ሀገሮሙ ።
Hamor and Shechem, his son, came to the gate of their city, and talked with the men of their city, saying,
34:21
הָאֲנָשִׁ֨ים הָאֵ֜לֶּה שְֽׁלֵמִ֧ים הֵ֣ם אִתָּ֗נוּ וְיֵשְׁב֤וּ בָאָ֙רֶץ֙ וְיִסְחֲר֣וּ אֹתָ֔הּ וְהָאָ֛רֶץ הִנֵּ֥ה רַֽחֲבַת־יָדַ֖יִם לִפְנֵיהֶ֑ם אֶת־בְּנֹתָם֙ נִקַּֽח־לָ֣נוּ לְנָשִׁ֔ים וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵ֖ינוּ נִתֵּ֥ן לָהֶֽם׃
οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὗτοι εἰρηνικοί εἰσιν μεθ’ ἡμῶν οἰκείτωσαν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐμπορευέσθωσαν αὐτήν ἡ δὲ γῆ ἰδοὺ πλατεῖα ἐναντίον αὐτῶν τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτῶν λημψόμεθα ἡμῖν γυναῖκας καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας ἡμῶν δώσομεν αὐτοῖς
Viri isti pacifici sunt, et volunt habitare nobiscum : negotientur in terra, et exerceant eam, quae spatiosa et lata cultoribus indiget : filias eorum accipiemus uxores, et nostras illis dabimus.
ወይቤልዎሙ ፡ እሉ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ስንአ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ምስሌነ ፡ ወይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድርነ ፡ ወይትጌበርዋ ፡ እስመ ፡ ረሓብ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ቅድሜሆሙ ፡ ወአዋልዲሆሙኒ ፡ ንነሥእ ፡ ለነ ፡ አንስቲያ ፡ ወአዋልዲነኒ ፡ ንሁቦሙ ።
“These men are peaceful with us. Therefore let them live in the land and trade in it. For behold, the land is large enough for them. Let’s take their daughters to us for wives, and let’s give them our daughters.
34:22
אַךְ־בְּ֠זֹ֠את יֵאֹ֨תוּ לָ֤נוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים֙ לָשֶׁ֣בֶת אִתָּ֔נוּ לִהְי֖וֹת לְעַ֣ם אֶחָ֑ד בְּהִמּ֥וֹל לָ֙נוּ֙ כׇּל־זָכָ֔ר כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר הֵ֥ם נִמֹּלִֽים׃
μόνον ἐν τούτῳ ὁμοιωθήσονται ἡμῖν οἱ ἄνθρωποι τοῦ κατοικεῖν μεθ’ ἡμῶν ὥστε εἶναι λαὸν ἕνα ἐν τῷ περιτέμνεσθαι ἡμῶν πᾶν ἀρσενικόν καθὰ καὶ αὐτοὶ περιτέτμηνται
Unum est quo differtur tantum bonum : si circumcidamus masculos nostros, ritum gentis imitantes.
ወበዝ ፡ ባሕቲታ ፡ ንትመሰሎሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ እሙንቱሂ ፡ ይኩኑ ፡ ከማነ ፡ እሉ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ወንኩን ፡ አሐደ ፡ ዘመደ ፡ ወንግዝር ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ተባዕተነ ፡ በከመ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ይትገዘሩ ።
Only on this condition will the men consent to us to live with us, to become one people, if every male among us is circumcised, as they are circumcised.
34:23
מִקְנֵהֶ֤ם וְקִנְיָנָם֙ וְכׇל־בְּהֶמְתָּ֔ם הֲל֥וֹא לָ֖נוּ הֵ֑ם אַ֚ךְ נֵא֣וֹתָה לָהֶ֔ם וְיֵשְׁב֖וּ אִתָּֽנוּ׃
καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ τετράποδα οὐχ ἡμῶν ἔσται μόνον ἐν τούτῳ ὁμοιωθῶμεν αὐτοῖς καὶ οἰκήσουσιν μεθ’ ἡμῶν
Et substantia eorum, et pecora, et cuncta quae possident, nostra erunt : tantum in hoc acquiescamus, et habitantes simul, unum efficiemus populum.
ወመራዕይሆሙኒ ፡ ወንዋዮሙኒ ፡ ወእንስሳሆሙኒ ፡ አኮኑ ፡ ለነ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወበዝንቱ ፡ ባሕቱ ፡ ከመ ፡ ንኩን ፡ ከማሆሙ ፡ ወይነብሩ ፡ ማእከሌነ ።
Won’t their livestock and their possessions and all their animals be ours? Only let’s give our consent to them, and they will dwell with us.”
34:24
וַיִּשְׁמְע֤וּ אֶל־חֲמוֹר֙ וְאֶל־שְׁכֶ֣ם בְּנ֔וֹ כׇּל־יֹצְאֵ֖י שַׁ֣עַר עִיר֑וֹ וַיִּמֹּ֙לוּ֙ כׇּל־זָכָ֔ר כׇּל־יֹצְאֵ֖י שַׁ֥עַר עִירֽוֹ׃
καὶ εἰσήκουσαν Εμμωρ καὶ Συχεμ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ πάντες οἱ ἐκπορευόμενοι τὴν πύλην τῆς πόλεως αὐτῶν καὶ περιετέμοντο τὴν σάρκα τῆς ἀκροβυστίας αὐτῶν πᾶς ἄρσην
Assensique sunt omnes, circumcisis cunctis maribus.
ወይቤልዎ ፡ ለኤሞር ፡ [ወለወልዱ ፡] ሴኬም ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ይበውኡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አንቀጸ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ኦሆ ፡ ወተገዝሩ ፡ ከተማ ፡ ሥጋ ፡ ነፍስቶሙ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ተባዕቶሙ ።
All who went out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor, and to Shechem his son; and every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.
34:25
וַיְהִי֩ בַיּ֨וֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֜י בִּֽהְיוֹתָ֣ם כֹּֽאֲבִ֗ים וַיִּקְח֣וּ שְׁנֵֽי־בְנֵי־יַ֠עֲקֹ֠ב שִׁמְע֨וֹן וְלֵוִ֜י אֲחֵ֤י דִינָה֙ אִ֣ישׁ חַרְבּ֔וֹ וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ עַל־הָעִ֖יר בֶּ֑טַח וַיַּֽהַרְג֖וּ כׇּל־זָכָֽר׃
ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ ὅτε ἦσαν ἐν τῷ πόνῳ ἔλαβον οἱ δύο υἱοὶ Ιακωβ Συμεων καὶ Λευι οἱ ἀδελφοὶ Δινας ἕκαστος τὴν μάχαιραν αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὴν πόλιν ἀσφαλῶς καὶ ἀπέκτειναν πᾶν ἀρσενικόν
Et ecce, die tertio, quando gravissimus vulnerum dolor est : arreptis duo filii Jacob, Simeon et Levi fratres Dinae, gladiis, ingressi sunt urbem confidenter : interfectisque omnibus masculis,
ወእምዝ ፡ አመ ፡ ሣልስት ፡ ዕለት ፡ እንዘ ፡ ሀለው ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሕማም ፡ ወጽሉዓን ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ነሥኡ ፡ ክልኤሆሙ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ስምዖን ፡ ወሌዊ ፡ አኀዊሃ ፡ ለዲና ፡ ወነሥኡ ፡ መጣብኂሆሙ ፡ ዘዘ ፡ ዚአሆሙ ፡ ወቦኡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ተታቢዖሙ ፡ ወቀተሉ ፡ ተባዕቶሙ ።
On the third day, when they were sore, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, each took his sword, came upon the unsuspecting city, and killed all the males.
34:26
וְאֶת־חֲמוֹר֙ וְאֶת־שְׁכֶ֣ם בְּנ֔וֹ הָרְג֖וּ לְפִי־חָ֑רֶב וַיִּקְח֧וּ אֶת־דִּינָ֛ה מִבֵּ֥ית שְׁכֶ֖ם וַיֵּצֵֽאוּ׃
τόν τε Εμμωρ καὶ Συχεμ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἀπέκτειναν ἐν στόματι μαχαίρας καὶ ἔλαβον τὴν Διναν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ Συχεμ καὶ ἐξῆλθον
Hemor et Sichem pariter necaverunt, tollentes Dinam de domo Sichem sororem suam.
ወለኤሞርሂ ፡ ወለሴኬምሂ ፡ ቀተልዎሙ ፡ ወነሥእዋ ፡ ለዲና ፡ እኅቶሙ ፡ ወአውፅእዋ ፡ እምነ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ሴኬም ።
They killed Hamor and Shechem, his son, with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and went away.
34:27
בְּנֵ֣י יַעֲקֹ֗ב בָּ֚אוּ עַל־הַ֣חֲלָלִ֔ים וַיָּבֹ֖זּוּ הָעִ֑יר אֲשֶׁ֥ר טִמְּא֖וּ אֲחוֹתָֽם׃
οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ιακωβ εἰσῆλθον ἐπὶ τοὺς τραυματίας καὶ διήρπασαν τὴν πόλιν ἐν ᾗ ἐμίαναν Διναν τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῶν
Quibus egressis, irruerunt super occisos ceteri filii Jacob : et depopulati sunt urbem in ultionem stupri.
ወቦኡ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ቅቱላን ፡ ወበርበርዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ሀገር ፡ እንተ ፡ ውስቴታ ፡ አርኰስዋ ፡ ለዲና ፡ እኅቶሙ ።
Jacob’s sons came on the dead, and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister.
34:28
אֶת־צֹאנָ֥ם וְאֶת־בְּקָרָ֖ם וְאֶת־חֲמֹרֵיהֶ֑ם וְאֵ֧ת אֲשֶׁר־בָּעִ֛יר וְאֶת־אֲשֶׁ֥ר בַּשָּׂדֶ֖ה לָקָֽחוּ׃
καὶ τὰ πρόβατα αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς βόας αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς ὄνους αὐτῶν ὅσα τε ἦν ἐν τῇ πόλει καὶ ὅσα ἦν ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ ἔλαβον
Oves eorum, et armenta, et asinos, cunctaque vastantes quae in domibus et in agris erant,
ወነሥእዎሙ ፡ አባግዒሆሙ ፡ ወአልህምቲሆሙ ፡ ወአእዱጊሆሙ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዘሀሎ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሐቀል ፡ ወውስተ ፡ ሀገር ፤
They took their flocks, their herds, their donkeys, that which was in the city, that which was in the field,
34:29
וְאֶת־כׇּל־חֵילָ֤ם וְאֶת־כׇּל־טַפָּם֙ וְאֶת־נְשֵׁיהֶ֔ם שָׁב֖וּ וַיָּבֹ֑זּוּ וְאֵ֖ת כׇּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר בַּבָּֽיִת׃
καὶ πάντα τὰ σώματα αὐτῶν καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀποσκευὴν αὐτῶν καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας αὐτῶν ᾐχμαλώτευσαν καὶ διήρπασαν ὅσα τε ἦν ἐν τῇ πόλει καὶ ὅσα ἦν ἐν ταῖς οἰκίαις
parvulos quoque eorum et uxores duxerunt captivas.
ወነባሪሆሙኒ ፡ ወአንስቲያሆሙኒ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ቍስቋሶሙ ፡ ወፄወውዎ ፡ ወበርበሩ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘውስተ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ወዘውስተ ፡ አብያት ።
and all their wealth. They took captive all their little ones and their wives, and took as plunder everything that was in the house.
34:30
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֜ב אֶל־שִׁמְע֣וֹן וְאֶל־לֵוִי֮ עֲכַרְתֶּ֣ם אֹתִי֒ לְהַבְאִישֵׁ֙נִי֙ בְּיֹשֵׁ֣ב הָאָ֔רֶץ בַּֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י וּבַפְּרִזִּ֑י וַאֲנִי֙ מְתֵ֣י מִסְפָּ֔ר וְנֶאֶסְפ֤וּ עָלַי֙ וְהִכּ֔וּנִי וְנִשְׁמַדְתִּ֖י אֲנִ֥י וּבֵיתִֽי׃
εἶπεν δὲ Ιακωβ Συμεων καὶ Λευι μισητόν με πεποιήκατε ὥστε πονηρόν με εἶναι πᾶσιν τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν τὴν γῆν ἔν τε τοῖς Χαναναίοις καὶ τοῖς Φερεζαίοις ἐγὼ δὲ ὀλιγοστός εἰμι ἐν ἀριθμῷ καὶ συναχθέντες ἐπ’ ἐμὲ συγκόψουσίν με καὶ ἐκτριβήσομαι ἐγὼ καὶ ὁ οἶκός μου
Quibus patratis audacter, Jacob dixit ad Simeon et Levi : Turbastis me, et odiosum fecistis me Chananaeis, et Pherezaeis habitatoribus terrae hujus : nos pauci sumus ; illi congregati percutient me, et delebor ego, et domus mea.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ለስምዖን ፡ ወለሌዊ ፡ እኩየ ፡ ረሰይክሙ ፡ ወአጽላእክሙኒ ፡ በኀበ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ምድር ፡ ኀበ ፡ ከናኔዎን ፡ ወ[ፌር]ዜዎን ፡ ወአንሰ ፡ ውሑድ ፡ አነ ፡ በኍልቍየ ፡ ወይትጋብኡ ፡ ላዕሌየ ፡ ወይቀትሉኒ ፡ ወእትቀጠቀጥ ፡ አነ ፡ ወቤትየ ።
Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have troubled me, to make me odious to the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites. I am few in number. They will gather themselves together against me and strike me, and I will be destroyed, I and my house.”
34:31
וַיֹּאמְר֑וּ הַכְזוֹנָ֕ה יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה אֶת־אֲחוֹתֵֽנוּ׃ {פ}
οἱ δὲ εἶπαν ἀλλ’ ὡσεὶ πόρνῃ χρήσωνται τῇ ἀδελφῇ ἡμῶν
Responderunt : Numquid ut scorto abuti debuere sorore nostra ?
ወይቤልዎ ፡ ለምንትኬ ፡ ከመ ፡ ዘማ ፡ ረሰይዋ ፡ ለእኅትነ ።
They said, “Should he deal with our sister as with a prostitute?”
