29:1
וַיִּשָּׂ֥א יַעֲקֹ֖ב רַגְלָ֑יו וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ אַ֥רְצָה בְנֵי־קֶֽדֶם׃
καὶ ἐξάρας Ιακωβ τοὺς πόδας ἐπορεύθη εἰς γῆν ἀνατολῶν πρὸς Λαβαν τὸν υἱὸν Βαθουηλ τοῦ Σύρου ἀδελφὸν δὲ Ρεβεκκας μητρὸς Ιακωβ καὶ Ησαυ
Profectus ergo Jacob venit in terram orientalem.
ወተንሥአ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወሖረ ፡ ጽባሐ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ላባ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ባቱኤል ፡ ሶርያዊ ፡ እኁሃ ፡ ለርብቃ ፡ እሞሙ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ወለዔሳው ።
Then Jacob went on his journey, and came to the land of the children of the east.
29:2
וַיַּ֞רְא וְהִנֵּ֧ה בְאֵ֣ר בַּשָּׂדֶ֗ה וְהִנֵּה־שָׁ֞ם שְׁלֹשָׁ֤ה עֶדְרֵי־צֹאן֙ רֹבְצִ֣ים עָלֶ֔יהָ כִּ֚י מִן־הַבְּאֵ֣ר הַהִ֔וא יַשְׁק֖וּ הָעֲדָרִ֑ים וְהָאֶ֥בֶן גְּדֹלָ֖ה עַל־פִּ֥י הַבְּאֵֽר׃
καὶ ὁρᾷ καὶ ἰδοὺ φρέαρ ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ ἦσαν δὲ ἐκεῖ τρία ποίμνια προβάτων ἀναπαυόμενα ἐπ’ αὐτοῦ ἐκ γὰρ τοῦ φρέατος ἐκείνου ἐπότιζον τὰ ποίμνια λίθος δὲ ἦν μέγας ἐπὶ τῷ στόματι τοῦ φρέατος
Et vidit puteum in agro, tres quoque greges ovium accubantes juxta eum : nam ex illo adaquabantur pecora, et os ejus grandi lapide claudebatur.
ወሶበ ፡ ይኔጽር ፡ ወይሬኢ ፡ ዐዘቅተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ወሀሎ ፡ ህየ ፡ ሠላስ ፡ አባግዕ ፡ ወያዐርፋ ፡ ላዕሌሃ ፡ እስመ ፡ እምነ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ዐዘቅት ፡ ያሰትይዎን ፡ ለውእቶን ፡ አባግዕ ፡ ወዲበ ፡ አፉሃ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ዐዘቅት ፡ እብን ፡ ዐቢይ ።
He looked, and saw a well in the field, and saw three flocks of sheep lying there by it. For out of that well they watered the flocks. The stone on the well’s mouth was large.
29:3
וְנֶאֶסְפוּ־שָׁ֣מָּה כׇל־הָעֲדָרִ֗ים וְגָלְל֤וּ אֶת־הָאֶ֙בֶן֙ מֵעַל֙ פִּ֣י הַבְּאֵ֔ר וְהִשְׁק֖וּ אֶת־הַצֹּ֑אן וְהֵשִׁ֧יבוּ אֶת־הָאֶ֛בֶן עַל־פִּ֥י הַבְּאֵ֖ר לִמְקֹמָֽהּ׃
καὶ συνήγοντο ἐκεῖ πάντα τὰ ποίμνια καὶ ἀπεκύλιον τὸν λίθον ἀπὸ τοῦ στόματος τοῦ φρέατος καὶ ἐπότιζον τὰ πρόβατα καὶ ἀπεκαθίστων τὸν λίθον ἐπὶ τὸ στόμα τοῦ φρέατος εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτοῦ
Morisque erat ut cunctis ovibus congregatis devolverent lapidem, et refectis gregibus rursum super os putei ponerent.
ወይትጋብኡ ፡ ህየ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ ኖሎት ፡ ወያሴስልዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ እብን ፡ እምአፈ ፡ ዐዘቅት ፡ ወእምዝ ፡ ያሰትዩ ፡ አባግዒሆሙ ፡ ወያገብእዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ እብን ፡ ውስተ ፡ አፈ ፡ ዐዘቅት ።
There all the flocks were gathered. They rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone back on the well’s mouth in its place.
29:4
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהֶם֙ יַעֲקֹ֔ב אַחַ֖י מֵאַ֣יִן אַתֶּ֑ם וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ מֵחָרָ֖ן אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς Ιακωβ ἀδελφοί πόθεν ἐστὲ ὑμεῖς οἱ δὲ εἶπαν ἐκ Χαρραν ἐσμέν
Dixitque ad pastores : Fratres, unde estis ? Qui responderunt : De Haran.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ አኅዊነ ፡ እምነ ፡ አይቴ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ እምነ ፡ ካራን ፡ ንሕነ ።
Jacob said to them, “My relatives, where are you from?” They said, “We are from Haran.”
29:5
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָהֶ֔ם הַיְדַעְתֶּ֖ם אֶת־לָבָ֣ן בֶּן־נָח֑וֹר וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ יָדָֽעְנוּ׃
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς γινώσκετε Λαβαν τὸν υἱὸν Ναχωρ οἱ δὲ εἶπαν γινώσκομεν
Quos interrogans, Numquid, ait, nostis Laban filium Nachor ? Dixerunt : Novimus.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ታአምርዎኑ ፡ ለላባ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ናኮር ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ናአምሮ ።
He said to them, “Do you know Laban, the son of Nahor?” They said, “We know him.”
29:6
וַיֹּ֥אמֶר לָהֶ֖ם הֲשָׁל֣וֹם ל֑וֹ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ שָׁל֔וֹם וְהִנֵּה֙ רָחֵ֣ל בִּתּ֔וֹ בָּאָ֖ה עִם־הַצֹּֽאן׃
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς ὑγιαίνει οἱ δὲ εἶπαν ὑγιαίνει καὶ ἰδοὺ Ραχηλ ἡ θυγάτηρ αὐτοῦ ἤρχετο μετὰ τῶν προβάτων
Sanusne est ? inquit. Valet, inquiunt : et ecce Rachel filia ejus venit cum grege suo.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ዳኅንኑ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ዳኅን ፡ ወእንዘ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይትናገሩ ፡ ናሁ ፡ መጽአት ፡ ራሔል ፡ ምስለ ፡ አባግዐ ፡ አቡሃ ።
He said to them, “Is it well with him?” They said, “It is well. See, Rachel, his daughter, is coming with the sheep.”
29:7
וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הֵ֥ן עוֹד֙ הַיּ֣וֹם גָּד֔וֹל לֹא־עֵ֖ת הֵאָסֵ֣ף הַמִּקְנֶ֑ה הַשְׁק֥וּ הַצֹּ֖אן וּלְכ֥וּ רְעֽוּ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ιακωβ ἔτι ἐστὶν ἡμέρα πολλή οὔπω ὥρα συναχθῆναι τὰ κτήνη ποτίσαντες τὰ πρόβατα ἀπελθόντες βόσκετε
Dixitque Jacob : Adhuc multum diei superest, nec est tempus ut reducantur ad caulas greges : date ante potum ovibus, et sic eas ad pastum reducite.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ዓዲኑ ፡ ኢበጽሐ ፡ ሰዐት ፡ ከመ ፡ ይትጋባእ ፡ እንስሳክሙ ፡ ወታሰትዩ ፡ ወይሑር ፡ ይትረዐይ ።
He said, “Behold, it is still the middle of the day, not time to gather the livestock together. Water the sheep, and go and feed them.”
29:8
וַיֹּאמְרוּ֮ לֹ֣א נוּכַל֒ עַ֣ד אֲשֶׁ֤ר יֵאָֽסְפוּ֙ כׇּל־הָ֣עֲדָרִ֔ים וְגָֽלְלוּ֙ אֶת־הָאֶ֔בֶן מֵעַ֖ל פִּ֣י הַבְּאֵ֑ר וְהִשְׁקִ֖ינוּ הַצֹּֽאן׃
οἱ δὲ εἶπαν οὐ δυνησόμεθα ἕως τοῦ συναχθῆναι πάντας τοὺς ποιμένας καὶ ἀποκυλίσωσιν τὸν λίθον ἀπὸ τοῦ στόματος τοῦ φρέατος καὶ ποτιοῦμεν τὰ πρόβατα
Qui responderunt : Non possumus, donec omnia pecora congregentur, et amoveamus lapidem de ore putei, ut adaquemus greges.
ወይቤልዎ ፡ ኢንክል ፡ ለእመ ፡ ኢይትጋብኡ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ ኖሎት ፡ ወያሰስልዋ ፡ ለዛቲ ፡ እብን ፡ እምአፈ ፡ ዐዘቅት ፡ ወናሰቲ ፡ አባግዒነ ።
They said, “We can’t, until all the flocks are gathered together, and they roll the stone from the well’s mouth. Then we will water the sheep.”
29:9
עוֹדֶ֖נּוּ מְדַבֵּ֣ר עִמָּ֑ם וְרָחֵ֣ל׀ בָּ֗אָה עִם־הַצֹּאן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְאָבִ֔יהָ כִּ֥י רֹעָ֖ה הִֽוא׃
ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος αὐτοῖς καὶ Ραχηλ ἡ θυγάτηρ Λαβαν ἤρχετο μετὰ τῶν προβάτων τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῆς αὐτὴ γὰρ ἔβοσκεν τὰ πρόβατα τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῆς
Adhuc loquebantur, et ecce Rachel veniebat cum ovibus patris sui : nam gregem ipsa pascebat.
ወእንዘ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ይትናገሩ ፡ በጽሐት ፡ ራሔል ፡ ምስለ ፡ አባግዐ ፡ አቡሃ ።
While he was yet speaking with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep, for she kept them.
29:10
וַיְהִ֡י כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ רָאָ֨ה יַעֲקֹ֜ב אֶת־רָחֵ֗ל בַּת־לָבָן֙ אֲחִ֣י אִמּ֔וֹ וְאֶת־צֹ֥אן לָבָ֖ן אֲחִ֣י אִמּ֑וֹ וַיִּגַּ֣שׁ יַעֲקֹ֗ב וַיָּ֤גֶל אֶת־הָאֶ֙בֶן֙ מֵעַל֙ פִּ֣י הַבְּאֵ֔ר וַיַּ֕שְׁקְ אֶת־צֹ֥אן לָבָ֖ן אֲחִ֥י אִמּֽוֹ׃
ἐγένετο δὲ ὡς εἶδεν Ιακωβ τὴν Ραχηλ θυγατέρα Λαβαν ἀδελφοῦ τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ πρόβατα Λαβαν ἀδελφοῦ τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ προσελθὼν Ιακωβ ἀπεκύλισεν τὸν λίθον ἀπὸ τοῦ στόματος τοῦ φρέατος καὶ ἐπότισεν τὰ πρόβατα Λαβαν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ
Quam cum vidisset Jacob, et sciret consobrinam suam, ovesque Laban avunculi sui, amovit lapidem quo puteus claudebatur.
ወሶበ ፡ ርእያ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ለራሔል ፡ ወለተ ፡ ላባ ፡ እኁሃ ፡ ለእሙ ፡ [አሰሰለ ፡ እብነ ፡ እምዐዘቅት ፡ ወአስተየ ፡ ላቲ ፡ አባግዒሃ ።]
When Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban, his mother’s brother, and the sheep of Laban, his mother’s brother, Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother’s brother.
29:11
וַיִּשַּׁ֥ק יַעֲקֹ֖ב לְרָחֵ֑ל וַיִּשָּׂ֥א אֶת־קֹל֖וֹ וַיֵּֽבְךְּ׃
καὶ ἐφίλησεν Ιακωβ τὴν Ραχηλ καὶ βοήσας τῇ φωνῇ αὐτοῦ ἔκλαυσεν
Et adaquato grege, osculatus est eam : et elevata voce flevit,
ወሰዐማ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ለራሔል ፡ ወጸርኀ ፡ በቃሉ ፡ ወበከየ ።
Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.
29:12
וַיַּגֵּ֨ד יַעֲקֹ֜ב לְרָחֵ֗ל כִּ֣י אֲחִ֤י אָבִ֙יהָ֙ ה֔וּא וְכִ֥י בֶן־רִבְקָ֖ה ה֑וּא וַתָּ֖רׇץ וַתַּגֵּ֥ד לְאָבִֽיהָ׃
καὶ ἀνήγγειλεν τῇ Ραχηλ ὅτι ἀδελφὸς τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῆς ἐστιν καὶ ὅτι υἱὸς Ρεβεκκας ἐστίν καὶ δραμοῦσα ἀπήγγειλεν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτῆς κατὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα
et indicavit ei quod frater esset patris sui, et filius Rebeccae : at illa festinans nuntiavit patri suo.
ወአይድዓ ፡ ለራሔል ፡ ከመ ፡ ወልደ ፡ እኅቱ ፡ ለአቡሃ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ርብቃ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወሮጸት ፡ ራሔል ፡ ወአይድዐቶ ፡ ለአቡሃ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ነገረ ።
Jacob told Rachel that he was her father’s relative, and that he was Rebekah’s son. She ran and told her father.
29:13
וַיְהִי֩ כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ לָבָ֜ן אֶת־שֵׁ֣מַע׀ יַעֲקֹ֣ב בֶּן־אֲחֹת֗וֹ וַיָּ֤רׇץ לִקְרָאתוֹ֙ וַיְחַבֶּק־לוֹ֙ וַיְנַשֶּׁק־ל֔וֹ וַיְבִיאֵ֖הוּ אֶל־בֵּית֑וֹ וַיְסַפֵּ֣ר לְלָבָ֔ן אֵ֥ת כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִ֖ים הָאֵֽלֶּה׃
ἐγένετο δὲ ὡς ἤκουσεν Λαβαν τὸ ὄνομα Ιακωβ τοῦ υἱοῦ τῆς ἀδελφῆς αὐτοῦ ἔδραμεν εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτῷ καὶ περιλαβὼν αὐτὸν ἐφίλησεν καὶ εἰσήγαγεν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ καὶ διηγήσατο τῷ Λαβαν πάντας τοὺς λόγους τούτους
Qui cum audisset venisse Jacob filium sororis suae, cucurrit obviam ei : complexusque eum, et in oscula ruens, duxit in domum suam. Auditis autem causis itineris,
ወሶበ ፡ ሰምዐ ፡ ላባ ፡ ስመ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ርብቃ ፡ እኅቱ ፡ ሮጸ ፡ ወተቀበሎ ፡ ወሐቀፎ ፡ ወሰዐሞ ፡ ወወሰዶ ፡ ቤቶ ፡ ወነገሮ ፡ ለላባ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ነገረ ።
When Laban heard the news of Jacob, his sister’s son, he ran to meet Jacob, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. Jacob told Laban all these things.
29:14
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ לָבָ֔ן אַ֛ךְ עַצְמִ֥י וּבְשָׂרִ֖י אָ֑תָּה וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב עִמּ֖וֹ חֹ֥דֶשׁ יָמִֽים׃
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Λαβαν ἐκ τῶν ὀστῶν μου καὶ ἐκ τῆς σαρκός μου εἶ σύ καὶ ἦν μετ’ αὐτοῦ μῆνα ἡμερῶν
respondit : Os meum es, et caro mea. Et postquam impleti sunt dies mensis unius,
ወይቤሎ ፡ ላባ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ እምነ ፡ ዐጽምየ ፡ ወእምነ ፡ ሥጋየ ፡ አንተ ፡ ወነበረ ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ሠላሳ ፡ መዋዕለ ።
Laban said to him, “Surely you are my bone and my flesh.” Jacob stayed with him for a month.
29:15
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָבָן֙ לְיַעֲקֹ֔ב הֲכִי־אָחִ֣י אַ֔תָּה וַעֲבַדְתַּ֖נִי חִנָּ֑ם הַגִּ֥ידָה לִּ֖י מַה־מַּשְׂכֻּרְתֶּֽךָ׃
εἶπεν δὲ Λαβαν τῷ Ιακωβ ὅτι γὰρ ἀδελφός μου εἶ οὐ δουλεύσεις μοι δωρεάν ἀπάγγειλόν μοι τίς ὁ μισθός σού ἐστιν
dixit ei : Num quia frater meus es, gratis servies mihi ? dic quid mercedis accipias.
ወይቤሎ ፡ ላባ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ እስመ ፡ እኁየ ፡ አንተ ፡ ኢትትቀነይ ፡ ሊተ ፡ በከ ፡ [ንግረኒ ፡] ምንት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዐስብከ ።
Laban said to Jacob, “Because you are my relative, should you therefore serve me for nothing? Tell me, what will your wages be?”
29:16
וּלְלָבָ֖ן שְׁתֵּ֣י בָנ֑וֹת שֵׁ֤ם הַגְּדֹלָה֙ לֵאָ֔ה וְשֵׁ֥ם הַקְּטַנָּ֖ה רָחֵֽל׃
τῷ δὲ Λαβαν δύο θυγατέρες ὄνομα τῇ μείζονι Λεια καὶ ὄνομα τῇ νεωτέρᾳ Ραχηλ
Habebat vero duas filias : nomen majoris Lia, minor vero appellabatur Rachel.
ወቦቱ ፡ ላባ ፡ ክልኤ ፡ አዋልደ ፡ ወስማ ፡ ለአሐቲ ፡ ለእንተ ፡ ትልህቅ ፡ ልያ ፡ ወለእንተ ፡ ትንእስ ፡ ራሔል ።
Laban had two daughters. The name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.
29:17
וְעֵינֵ֥י לֵאָ֖ה רַכּ֑וֹת וְרָחֵל֙ הָֽיְתָ֔ה יְפַת־תֹּ֖אַר וִיפַ֥ת מַרְאֶֽה׃
οἱ δὲ ὀφθαλμοὶ Λειας ἀσθενεῖς Ραχηλ δὲ καλὴ τῷ εἴδει καὶ ὡραία τῇ ὄψει
Sed Lia lippis erat oculis : Rachel decora facie, et venusto aspectu.
ወልያሰ ፡ ትደዊ ፡ አዕይንቲሃ ፡ ወራሔልሰ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ራእያ ፡ ወለሓይ ፡ ገጻ ።
Leah’s eyes were weak, but Rachel was beautiful in form and attractive.
29:18
וַיֶּאֱהַ֥ב יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת־רָחֵ֑ל וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אֶֽעֱבׇדְךָ֙ שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים בְּרָחֵ֥ל בִּתְּךָ֖ הַקְּטַנָּֽה׃
ἠγάπησεν δὲ Ιακωβ τὴν Ραχηλ καὶ εἶπεν δουλεύσω σοι ἑπτὰ ἔτη περὶ Ραχηλ τῆς θυγατρός σου τῆς νεωτέρας
Quam diligens Jacob, ait : Serviam tibi pro Rachel filia tua minore, septem annis.
ወአፍቀራ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ለራሔል ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ለላባ ፡ እትቀነይ ፡ ለከ ፡ ሰብዐተ ፡ ዓመተ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ራሔል ፡ ወለትከ ፡ እንተ ፡ ትንእስ ፡ (ወሀበኒያ ፡ ኪያሃ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትኩነኒ ፡ ብእሲተ ።)
Jacob loved Rachel. He said, “I will serve you seven years for Rachel, your younger daughter.”
29:19
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָבָ֗ן ט֚וֹב תִּתִּ֣י אֹתָ֣הּ לָ֔ךְ מִתִּתִּ֥י אֹתָ֖הּ לְאִ֣ישׁ אַחֵ֑ר שְׁבָ֖ה עִמָּדִֽי׃
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Λαβαν βέλτιον δοῦναί με αὐτὴν σοὶ ἢ δοῦναί με αὐτὴν ἀνδρὶ ἑτέρῳ οἴκησον μετ’ ἐμοῦ
Respondit Laban : Melius est ut tibi eam dem quam alteri viro : mane apud me.
ወይቤሎ ፡ ላባ ፡ ይኄይሰኒ ፡ ለከ ፡ አሀብ ፡ (ለማእምርየ ፡ ወለሥጋየ ፡) እምነ ፡ ለካልእ ፡ ብእሲ ፤ ንበር ፡ እንከሰ ።
Laban said, “It is better that I give her to you, than that I should give her to another man. Stay with me.”
29:20
וַיַּעֲבֹ֧ד יַעֲקֹ֛ב בְּרָחֵ֖ל שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֑ים וַיִּהְי֤וּ בְעֵינָיו֙ כְּיָמִ֣ים אֲחָדִ֔ים בְּאַהֲבָת֖וֹ אֹתָֽהּ׃
καὶ ἐδούλευσεν Ιακωβ περὶ Ραχηλ ἔτη ἑπτά καὶ ἦσαν ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ ὡς ἡμέραι ὀλίγαι παρὰ τὸ ἀγαπᾶν αὐτὸν αὐτήν
Servivit ergo Jacob pro Rachel septem annis : et videbantur illi pauci dies prae amoris magnitudine.
ወተቀንየ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ሰብዐተ ፡ ዓመተ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ራሔል ፡ ወኮና ፡ በቅድሜሁ ፡ ከመ ፡ ዘኅዳጥ ፡ መዋዕል ፡ እስመ ፡ ያፈቅራ ።
Jacob served seven years for Rachel. They seemed to him but a few days, for the love he had for her.
29:21
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֤ב אֶל־לָבָן֙ הָבָ֣ה אֶת־אִשְׁתִּ֔י כִּ֥י מָלְא֖וּ יָמָ֑י וְאָב֖וֹאָה אֵלֶֽיהָ׃
εἶπεν δὲ Ιακωβ πρὸς Λαβαν ἀπόδος τὴν γυναῖκά μου πεπλήρωνται γὰρ αἱ ἡμέραι μου ὅπως εἰσέλθω πρὸς αὐτήν
Dixitque ad Laban : Da mihi uxorem meam : quia jam tempus impletum est, ut ingrediar ad illam.
ወይቤሎ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ለላባ ፡ ሀበኒያ ፡ እንከሰ ፡ ብእሲትየ ፡ ከመ ፡ እባእ ፡ ኀቤሃ ፡ እስመ ፡ ፈጸምኩ ፡ መዋዕሊሁ ።
Jacob said to Laban, “Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in to her.”
29:22
וַיֶּאֱסֹ֥ף לָבָ֛ן אֶת־כׇּל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י הַמָּק֖וֹם וַיַּ֥עַשׂ מִשְׁתֶּֽה׃
συνήγαγεν δὲ Λαβαν πάντας τοὺς ἄνδρας τοῦ τόπου καὶ ἐποίησεν γάμον
Qui vocatis multis amicorum turbis ad convivium, fecit nuptias.
ወአስተጋብኦሙ ፡ ላባ ፡ ለኵሎሙ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ብሔር ፡ ወገብረ ፡ ከብካበ ።
Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.
29:23
וַיְהִ֣י בָעֶ֔רֶב וַיִּקַּח֙ אֶת־לֵאָ֣ה בִתּ֔וֹ וַיָּבֵ֥א אֹתָ֖הּ אֵלָ֑יו וַיָּבֹ֖א אֵלֶֽיהָ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ἑσπέρα καὶ λαβὼν Λαβαν Λειαν τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ εἰσήγαγεν αὐτὴν πρὸς Ιακωβ καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτὴν Ιακωβ
Et vespere Liam filiam suam introduxit ad eum,
ወሶበ ፡ መስየ ፡ ነሥኣ ፡ ላባ ፡ ለልያ ፡ ወለቱ ፡ ወአብኣ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ያዕቆብ ።
In the evening, he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to Jacob. He went in to her.
29:24
וַיִּתֵּ֤ן לָבָן֙ לָ֔הּ אֶת־זִלְפָּ֖ה שִׁפְחָת֑וֹ לְלֵאָ֥ה בִתּ֖וֹ שִׁפְחָֽה׃
ἔδωκεν δὲ Λαβαν Λεια τῇ θυγατρὶ αὐτοῦ Ζελφαν τὴν παιδίσκην αὐτοῦ αὐτῇ παιδίσκην
dans ancillam filiae, Zelpham nomine. Ad quam cum ex more Jacob fuisset ingressus, facto mane vidit Liam :
ወወሀባ ፡ ላባ ፡ ለወለቱ ፡ ልያ ፡ ዘለፋሃ ፡ ወለተ ፡ ትኩና ፡ አመተ ።
Laban gave Zilpah his servant to his daughter Leah for a servant.
29:25
וַיְהִ֣י בַבֹּ֔קֶר וְהִנֵּה־הִ֖וא לֵאָ֑ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל־לָבָ֗ן מַה־זֹּאת֙ עָשִׂ֣יתָ לִּ֔י הֲלֹ֤א בְרָחֵל֙ עָבַ֣דְתִּי עִמָּ֔ךְ וְלָ֖מָּה רִמִּיתָֽנִי׃
ἐγένετο δὲ πρωί καὶ ἰδοὺ ἦν Λεια εἶπεν δὲ Ιακωβ τῷ Λαβαν τί τοῦτο ἐποίησάς μοι οὐ περὶ Ραχηλ ἐδούλευσα παρὰ σοί καὶ ἵνα τί παρελογίσω με
et dixit ad socerum suum : Quid est quod facere voluisti ? nonne pro Rachel servivi tibi ? quare imposuisti mihi ?
ወሶበ ፡ ጸብሐ ፡ ነያ ፡ ልያ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ለላባ ፡ ምንተ ፡ ረሴይከኒ ፡ አኮኑ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ራሔል ፡ ተቀነይኩ ፡ ለከ ፡ ምንተ ፡ አስታሕቀርከኒ ።
In the morning, behold, it was Leah! He said to Laban, “What is this you have done to me? Didn’t I serve with you for Rachel? Why then have you deceived me?”
29:26
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לָבָ֔ן לֹא־יֵעָשֶׂ֥ה כֵ֖ן בִּמְקוֹמֵ֑נוּ לָתֵ֥ת הַצְּעִירָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י הַבְּכִירָֽה׃
εἶπεν δὲ Λαβαν οὐκ ἔστιν οὕτως ἐν τῷ τόπῳ ἡμῶν δοῦναι τὴν νεωτέραν πρὶν ἢ τὴν πρεσβυτέραν
Respondit Laban : Non est in loco nostro consuetudinis, ut minores ante tradamus ad nuptias.
ወይቤሎ ፡ ላባ ፡ ኢኮነ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ በብሔርነሰ ፡ ኢይቀድሙ ፡ ውሂበ ፡ እንተ ፡ ትንእስ ፡ እንዘ ፡ እንተ ፡ ትልህቅ ፡ ሀለወት ።
Laban said, “It is not done so in our place, to give the younger before the firstborn.
29:27
מַלֵּ֖א שְׁבֻ֣עַ זֹ֑את וְנִתְּנָ֨ה לְךָ֜ גַּם־אֶת־זֹ֗את בַּעֲבֹדָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תַּעֲבֹ֣ד עִמָּדִ֔י ע֖וֹד שֶֽׁבַע־שָׁנִ֥ים אֲחֵרֽוֹת׃
συντέλεσον οὖν τὰ ἕβδομα ταύτης καὶ δώσω σοι καὶ ταύτην ἀντὶ τῆς ἐργασίας ἧς ἐργᾷ παρ’ ἐμοὶ ἔτι ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἕτερα
Imple hebdomadam dierum hujus copulae : et hanc quoque dabo tibi pro opere quo serviturus es mihi septem annis aliis.
ፈጽም ፡ ለዛቲኒ ፡ ሰብዐተ ፡ ዓመተ ፡ ወእሁበከ ፡ ኪያሃኒ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ዘተቀነይከ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ካልአ ፡ ሰብዐተ ፡ ዓመተ ።
Fulfill the week of this one, and we will give you the other also for the service which you will serve with me for seven more years.”
29:28
וַיַּ֤עַשׂ יַעֲקֹב֙ כֵּ֔ן וַיְמַלֵּ֖א שְׁבֻ֣עַ זֹ֑את וַיִּתֶּן־ל֛וֹ אֶת־רָחֵ֥ל בִּתּ֖וֹ ל֥וֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃
ἐποίησεν δὲ Ιακωβ οὕτως καὶ ἀνεπλήρωσεν τὰ ἕβδομα ταύτης καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ Λαβαν Ραχηλ τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ αὐτῷ γυναῖκα
Acquievit placito : et hebdomada transacta, Rachel duxit uxorem :
ወገብረ ፡ ላቲኒ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወፈጸመ ፡ ላቲኒ ፡ ሰብዐተ ፡ ዓመቲሃ ፡ ወወሀቦ ፡ ላባ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ራሔልሃ ።
Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week. He gave him Rachel his daughter as wife.
29:29
וַיִּתֵּ֤ן לָבָן֙ לְרָחֵ֣ל בִּתּ֔וֹ אֶת־בִּלְהָ֖ה שִׁפְחָת֑וֹ לָ֖הּ לְשִׁפְחָֽה׃
ἔδωκεν δὲ Λαβαν Ραχηλ τῇ θυγατρὶ αὐτοῦ Βαλλαν τὴν παιδίσκην αὐτοῦ αὐτῇ παιδίσκην
cui pater servam Balam tradiderat.
ወወሀባ ፡ ለራሔል ፡ ባላሃ ፡ ትኩና ፡ አመታ ።
Laban gave Bilhah, his servant, to his daughter Rachel to be her servant.
29:30
וַיָּבֹא֙ גַּ֣ם אֶל־רָחֵ֔ל וַיֶּאֱהַ֥ב גַּֽם־אֶת־רָחֵ֖ל מִלֵּאָ֑ה וַיַּעֲבֹ֣ד עִמּ֔וֹ ע֖וֹד שֶֽׁבַע־שָׁנִ֥ים אֲחֵרֽוֹת׃
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς Ραχηλ ἠγάπησεν δὲ Ραχηλ μᾶλλον ἢ Λειαν καὶ ἐδούλευσεν αὐτῷ ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἕτερα
Tandemque potitus optatis nuptiis, amorem sequentis priori praetulit, serviens apud eum septem annis aliis.
ወቦአ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ራሔል ፡ ወአፍቀራ ፡ ፈድፋደ ፡ እምነ ፡ ልያ ፡ ወተቀንየ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ካልእተ ፡ ሰብዐተ ፡ ዓመተ ፡ በእንቲአሃ ።
He went in also to Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him seven more years.
29:31
וַיַּ֤רְא יְהֹוָה֙ כִּֽי־שְׂנוּאָ֣ה לֵאָ֔ה וַיִּפְתַּ֖ח אֶת־רַחְמָ֑הּ וְרָחֵ֖ל עֲקָרָֽה׃
ἰδὼν δὲ κύριος ὅτι μισεῖται Λεια ἤνοιξεν τὴν μήτραν αὐτῆς Ραχηλ δὲ ἦν στεῖρα
Videns autem Dominus quod despiceret Liam, aperuit vulvam ejus, sorore sterili permanente.
ወሶበ ፡ ርእየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ ትጸላእ ፡ ልያ ፡ ፈትሐ ፡ ማሕፀና ፡ ወራሔልሰ ፡ ኮነት ፡ መካነ ።
Yahweh saw that Leah was hated, and he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren.
29:32
וַתַּ֤הַר לֵאָה֙ וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֔ן וַתִּקְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ רְאוּבֵ֑ן כִּ֣י אָֽמְרָ֗ה כִּֽי־רָאָ֤ה יְהֹוָה֙ בְּעׇנְיִ֔י כִּ֥י עַתָּ֖ה יֶאֱהָבַ֥נִי אִישִֽׁי׃
καὶ συνέλαβεν Λεια καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱὸν τῷ Ιακωβ ἐκάλεσεν δὲ τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ρουβην λέγουσα διότι εἶδέν μου κύριος τὴν ταπείνωσιν νῦν με ἀγαπήσει ὁ ἀνήρ μου
Quae conceptum genuit filium, vocavitque nomen ejus Ruben, dicens : Vidit Dominus humilitatem meam : nunc amabit me vir meus.
ወፀንሰት ፡ ልያ ፡ ወወለደት ፡ ወልደ ፡ ወሰመየቶ ፡ ስሞ ፡ ሩቤል ፡ እንዘ ፡ ትብል ፡ እስመ ፡ ርእየኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ትሕትናየ ፡ ወእምይእዜሰ ፡ ያፈቅረኒ ፡ ምትየ ።
Leah conceived, and bore a son, and she named him Reuben. For she said, “Because Yahweh has looked at my affliction; for now my husband will love me.”
29:33
וַתַּ֣הַר עוֹד֮ וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּן֒ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר כִּֽי־שָׁמַ֤ע יְהֹוָה֙ כִּֽי־שְׂנוּאָ֣ה אָנֹ֔כִי וַיִּתֶּן־לִ֖י גַּם־אֶת־זֶ֑ה וַתִּקְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ שִׁמְעֽוֹן׃
καὶ συνέλαβεν πάλιν Λεια καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱὸν δεύτερον τῷ Ιακωβ καὶ εἶπεν ὅτι ἤκουσεν κύριος ὅτι μισοῦμαι καὶ προσέδωκέν μοι καὶ τοῦτον ἐκάλεσεν δὲ τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Συμεων
Rursumque concepit et peperit filium, et ait : Quoniam audivit me Dominus haberi contemptui, dedit etiam istum mihi ; vocavitque nomen ejus Simeon.
ወደገመት ፡ ፀንሰት ፡ ልያ ፡ ወወለደት ፡ ወልደ ፡ ካልአ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ወትቤ ፡ እስመ ፡ ሰምዐኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ እጸላእ ፡ ወሰከኒ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ወሰመየቶ ፡ ስሞ ፡ ስምዖን ።
She conceived again, and bore a son, and said, “Because Yahweh has heard that I am hated, he has therefore given me this son also.” She named him Simeon.
29:34
וַתַּ֣הַר עוֹד֮ וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּן֒ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר עַתָּ֤ה הַפַּ֙עַם֙ יִלָּוֶ֤ה אִישִׁי֙ אֵלַ֔י כִּֽי־יָלַ֥דְתִּי ל֖וֹ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה בָנִ֑ים עַל־כֵּ֥ן קָרָֽא־שְׁמ֖וֹ לֵוִֽי׃
καὶ συνέλαβεν ἔτι καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱὸν καὶ εἶπεν ἐν τῷ νῦν καιρῷ πρὸς ἐμοῦ ἔσται ὁ ἀνήρ μου ἔτεκον γὰρ αὐτῷ τρεῖς υἱούς διὰ τοῦτο ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Λευι
Concepitque tertio, et genuit alium filium : dixitque : Nunc quoque copulabitur mihi maritus meus : eo quod pepererim ei tres filios : et idcirco appellavit nomen ejus Levi.
ወፀንሰት ፡ ዓዲ ፡ ወወለደት ፡ ወልደ ፡ ወትቤ ፡ እምይእዜሰኬ ፡ ኀቤየ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ምትየ ፡ እስመ ፡ ወለድኩ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ሠለስተ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ወሰመየት ፡ ስሞ ፡ ሌዊ ።
She conceived again, and bore a son. She said, “Now this time my husband will be joined to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.
29:35
וַתַּ֨הַר ע֜וֹד וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֗ן וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ הַפַּ֙עַם֙ אוֹדֶ֣ה אֶת־יְהֹוָ֔ה עַל־כֵּ֛ן קָרְאָ֥ה שְׁמ֖וֹ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖ד מִלֶּֽדֶת׃
καὶ συλλαβοῦσα ἔτι ἔτεκεν υἱὸν καὶ εἶπεν νῦν ἔτι τοῦτο ἐξομολογήσομαι κυρίῳ διὰ τοῦτο ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ιουδα καὶ ἔστη τοῦ τίκτειν
Quarto concepit, et peperit filium, et ait : Modo confitebor Domino, et ob hoc vocavit eum Judam : cessavitque parere.
ወፀንሰት ፡ ዓዲ ፡ ወወለደት ፡ ወልደ ፡ ወትቤ ፡ ይእዜ ፡ ዓዲ ፡ በእንተዝ ፡ አአምኖ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክ ፡ ወበእንተዝ ፡ ሰመየት ፡ ስሞ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ [ወአቀመት ፡ ወሊደ ።]
She conceived again, and bore a son. She said, “This time I will praise Yahweh.” Therefore she named him Judah. Then she stopped bearing.
