15:1
אַחַ֣ר׀ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֗לֶּה הָיָ֤ה דְבַר־יְהֹוָה֙ אֶל־אַבְרָ֔ם בַּֽמַּחֲזֶ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר אַל־תִּירָ֣א אַבְרָ֗ם אָנֹכִי֙ מָגֵ֣ן לָ֔ךְ שְׂכָרְךָ֖ הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃
μετὰ δὲ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα ἐγενήθη ῥῆμα κυρίου πρὸς Αβραμ ἐν ὁράματι λέγων μὴ φοβοῦ Αβραμ ἐγὼ ὑπερασπίζω σου ὁ μισθός σου πολὺς ἔσται σφόδρα
His itaque transactis, factus est sermo Domini ad Abram per visionem dicens : Noli timere, Abram : ego protector tuus sum, et merces tua magna nimis.
ወእምድኅረ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ነገር ፡ ኮነ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኀበ ፡ አብራም ፡ በራእይ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ ኢትፍራህ ፡ አብራም ፡ አነ ፡ ኣጸንዐከ ፡ ወዐስብከ ፡ ብዙኅ ፡ ጥቀ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ በኀቤየ ።
After these things Yahweh’s word came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Don’t be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
15:2
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אַבְרָ֗ם אֲדֹנָ֤י יֱהֹוִה֙ מַה־תִּתֶּן־לִ֔י וְאָנֹכִ֖י הוֹלֵ֣ךְ עֲרִירִ֑י וּבֶן־מֶ֣שֶׁק בֵּיתִ֔י ה֖וּא דַּמֶּ֥שֶׂק אֱלִיעֶֽזֶר׃
λέγει δὲ Αβραμ δέσποτα τί μοι δώσεις ἐγὼ δὲ ἀπολύομαι ἄτεκνος ὁ δὲ υἱὸς Μασεκ τῆς οἰκογενοῦς μου οὗτος Δαμασκὸς Ελιεζερ
Dixitque Abram : Domine Deus, quid dabis mihi ? ego vadam absque liberis, et filius procuratoris domus meae iste Damascus Eliezer.
ወይቤሎ ፡ አብራም ፡ ምንት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ዘትሁበኒ ፡ ወናሁ ፡ እመውት ፡ እንዘ ፡ አልብየ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ ወናሁ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ማሴቅ ፡ ዘደማስቆ ፡ ዘይብልዎ ፡ ኢያውብር ፡ ዘእምነ ፡ ትውልደ ፡ ዘመድየ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ይወርሰኒ ።
Abram said, “Lord Yahweh, what will you give me, since I go childless, and he who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?”
15:3
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אַבְרָ֔ם הֵ֣ן לִ֔י לֹ֥א נָתַ֖תָּה זָ֑רַע וְהִנֵּ֥ה בֶן־בֵּיתִ֖י יוֹרֵ֥שׁ אֹתִֽי׃
καὶ εἶπεν Αβραμ ἐπειδὴ ἐμοὶ οὐκ ἔδωκας σπέρμα ὁ δὲ οἰκογενής μου κληρονομήσει με
Addiditque Abram : Mihi autem non dedisti semen, et ecce vernaculus meus, haeres meus erit.
ይቤ ፡ አብራም ፡ እስመ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ኢወሀብከኒ ፡ ዘርአ ፡ ትውልደ ፡ ዘመድየ ፡ ይወርሰኒ ።
Abram said, “Behold, you have given no children to me: and, behold, one born in my house is my heir.”
15:4
וְהִנֵּ֨ה דְבַר־יְהֹוָ֤ה אֵלָיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר לֹ֥א יִֽירָשְׁךָ֖ זֶ֑ה כִּי־אִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֵצֵ֣א מִמֵּעֶ֔יךָ ה֖וּא יִֽירָשֶֽׁךָ׃
καὶ εὐθὺς φωνὴ κυρίου ἐγένετο πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγων οὐ κληρονομήσει σε οὗτος ἀλλ’ ὃς ἐξελεύσεται ἐκ σοῦ οὗτος κληρονομήσει σε
Statimque sermo Domini factus est ad eum, dicens : Non erit hic haeres tuus, sed qui egredietur de utero tuo, ipsum habebis haeredem.
ወበጊዜሃ ፡ ኮነ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብል ፡ ኢይወርሴከ ፡ ውእቱሰ ፡ ካልእ ፡ ይወጽእ ፡ እምኔከ ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ይወርሰከ ።
Behold, Yahweh’s word came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir, but he who will come out of your own body will be your heir.”
15:5
וַיּוֹצֵ֨א אֹת֜וֹ הַח֗וּצָה וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ הַבֶּט־נָ֣א הַשָּׁמַ֗יְמָה וּסְפֹר֙ הַכּ֣וֹכָבִ֔ים אִם־תּוּכַ֖ל לִסְפֹּ֣ר אֹתָ֑ם וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֔וֹ כֹּ֥ה יִהְיֶ֖ה זַרְעֶֽךָ׃
ἐξήγαγεν δὲ αὐτὸν ἔξω καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἀνάβλεψον δὴ εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ ἀρίθμησον τοὺς ἀστέρας εἰ δυνήσῃ ἐξαριθμῆσαι αὐτούς καὶ εἶπεν οὕτως ἔσται τὸ σπέρμα σου
Eduxitque eum foras, et ait illi : Suspice caelum, et numera stellas, si potes. Et dixit ei : Sic erit semen tuum.
ወአውጽኦ ፡ አፍአ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ ነጽር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ወኈልቆሙ ፡ ለከዋክብት ፡ ለእመ ፡ ትክል ፡ ኈልቆቶሙ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘርእከ ።
Yahweh brought him outside, and said, “Look now toward the sky, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” He said to Abram, “So your offspring will be.”
15:6
וְהֶאֱמִ֖ן בַּֽיהֹוָ֑ה וַיַּחְשְׁבֶ֥הָ לּ֖וֹ צְדָקָֽה׃
καὶ ἐπίστευσεν Αβραμ τῷ θεῷ καὶ ἐλογίσθη αὐτῷ εἰς δικαιοσύνην
Credidit Abram Deo, et reputatum est illi ad justitiam.
ወአምኖ ፡ አብራም ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወተኈለቆ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ጽድቀ ።
He believed in Yahweh, who credited it to him for righteousness.
15:7
וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אֵלָ֑יו אֲנִ֣י יְהֹוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר הוֹצֵאתִ֙יךָ֙ מֵא֣וּר כַּשְׂדִּ֔ים לָ֧תֶת לְךָ֛ אֶת־הָאָ֥רֶץ הַזֹּ֖את לְרִשְׁתָּֽהּ׃
εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς αὐτόν ἐγὼ ὁ θεὸς ὁ ἐξαγαγών σε ἐκ χώρας Χαλδαίων ὥστε δοῦναί σοι τὴν γῆν ταύτην κληρονομῆσαι
Dixitque ad eum : Ego Dominus qui eduxi te de Ur Chaldaeorum ut darem tibi terram istam, et possideres eam.
ወይቤሎ ፡ አነ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላክከ ፡ ዘአውጻእኩከ ፡ እምነ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ከላዴዎን ፡ ከመ ፡ አሀብካሃ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ ትትዋረሳ ።
He said to Abram, “I am Yahweh who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give you this land to inherit it.”
15:8
וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה בַּמָּ֥ה אֵדַ֖ע כִּ֥י אִֽירָשֶֽׁנָּה׃
εἶπεν δέ δέσποτα κύριε κατὰ τί γνώσομαι ὅτι κληρονομήσω αὐτήν
At ille ait : Domine Deus, unde scire possum quod possessurus sim eam ?
ወይቤሎ ፡ [እግዚኦ ፡ በምንት ፡ ኣአምር ፡ ከመ ፡ እወርሳ ።
He said, “Lord Yahweh, how will I know that I will inherit it?”
15:9
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗יו קְחָ֥ה לִי֙ עֶגְלָ֣ה מְשֻׁלֶּ֔שֶׁת וְעֵ֥ז מְשֻׁלֶּ֖שֶׁת וְאַ֣יִל מְשֻׁלָּ֑שׁ וְתֹ֖ר וְגוֹזָֽל׃
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ λαβέ μοι δάμαλιν τριετίζουσαν καὶ αἶγα τριετίζουσαν καὶ κριὸν τριετίζοντα καὶ τρυγόνα καὶ περιστεράν
Et respondens Dominus : Sume, inquit, mihi vaccam triennem, et capram trimam, et arietem annorum trium, turturem quoque et columbam.
ወይቤሎ ፡] ንሣእ ፡ ለከ ፡ ለህመ ፡ ዘሠለስቱ ፡ ዓመቱ ፡ ወጠሌ ፡ ዘሠለስቱ ፡ ዓመቱ ፡ ወበግዐ ፡ ዘ፫ዓመቱ ፡ ወማዕነቀ ፡ ወርግበ ።
He said to him, “Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”
15:10
וַיִּֽקַּֽח־ל֣וֹ אֶת־כׇּל־אֵ֗לֶּה וַיְבַתֵּ֤ר אֹתָם֙ בַּתָּ֔וֶךְ וַיִּתֵּ֥ן אִישׁ־בִּתְר֖וֹ לִקְרַ֣את רֵעֵ֑הוּ וְאֶת־הַצִּפֹּ֖ר לֹ֥א בָתָֽר׃
ἔλαβεν δὲ αὐτῷ πάντα ταῦτα καὶ διεῖλεν αὐτὰ μέσα καὶ ἔθηκεν αὐτὰ ἀντιπρόσωπα ἀλλήλοις τὰ δὲ ὄρνεα οὐ διεῖλεν
Qui tollens universa haec, divisit ea per medium, et utrasque partes contra se altrinsecus posuit ; aves autem non divisit.
ወንሣእ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ወምትሮሙ ፡ እምነ ፡ ማእከሎሙ ፡ ወለአዕዋፍሰ ፡ ኢትምትሮን ።
He brought him all these, and divided them in the middle, and laid each half opposite the other; but he didn’t divide the birds.
15:11
וַיֵּ֥רֶד הָעַ֖יִט עַל־הַפְּגָרִ֑ים וַיַּשֵּׁ֥ב אֹתָ֖ם אַבְרָֽם׃
κατέβη δὲ ὄρνεα ἐπὶ τὰ σώματα τὰ διχοτομήματα αὐτῶν καὶ συνεκάθισεν αὐτοῖς Αβραμ
Descenderuntque volucres super cadavera, et abigebat eas Abram.
ወወረዱ ፡ እልክቱ ፡ አዕዋፍ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ዝክቱ ፡ ዘመዶሙ ፡ ዘተመትሩ ፡ ወነበረ ፡ አብራም ፡ ኀቤሆሙ ።
The birds of prey came down on the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.
15:12
וַיְהִ֤י הַשֶּׁ֙מֶשׁ֙ לָב֔וֹא וְתַרְדֵּמָ֖ה נָפְלָ֣ה עַל־אַבְרָ֑ם וְהִנֵּ֥ה אֵימָ֛ה חֲשֵׁכָ֥ה גְדֹלָ֖ה נֹפֶ֥לֶת עָלָֽיו׃
περὶ δὲ ἡλίου δυσμὰς ἔκστασις ἐπέπεσεν τῷ Αβραμ καὶ ἰδοὺ φόβος σκοτεινὸς μέγας ἐπιπίπτει αὐτῷ
Cumque sol occumberet, sopor irruit super Abram, et horror magnus et tenebrosus invasit eum.
ወሶበ ፡ የዐርብ ፡ ፀሓይ ፡ ድንጋፄ ፡ መጽኦ ፡ ለአብራም ፡ ወናሁ ፡ ግሩም ፡ ጽልመት ፡ ወዐቢይ ፡ መጽአ ፡ ላዕሌሁ ።
When the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. Now terror and great darkness fell on him.
15:13
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְאַבְרָ֗ם יָדֹ֨עַ תֵּדַ֜ע כִּי־גֵ֣ר׀ יִהְיֶ֣ה זַרְעֲךָ֗ בְּאֶ֙רֶץ֙ לֹ֣א לָהֶ֔ם וַעֲבָד֖וּם וְעִנּ֣וּ אֹתָ֑ם אַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָֽה׃
καὶ ἐρρέθη πρὸς Αβραμ γινώσκων γνώσῃ ὅτι πάροικον ἔσται τὸ σπέρμα σου ἐν γῇ οὐκ ἰδίᾳ καὶ δουλώσουσιν αὐτοὺς καὶ κακώσουσιν αὐτοὺς καὶ ταπεινώσουσιν αὐτοὺς τετρακόσια ἔτη
Dictumque est ad eum : Scito praenoscens quod peregrinum futurum sit semen tuum in terra non sua, et subjicient eos servituti, et affligent quadringentis annis.
ወይቤልዎ ፡ ለአብራም ፡ አእምሮ ፡ አእምር ፡ ከመ ፡ ሀለዎ ፡ ለዘርእከ ፡ ፈላሴ ፡ ይኩን ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ እንተ ፡ ኢኮነት ፡ እንቲአአሆሙ ፡ ወይቀንይዎሙ ፡ ወይሣቅይዎሙ ፡ ወያጼዕርዎሙ ፡ አርባዕተ ፡ ምእታ ፡ ዓመተ ።
He said to Abram, “Know for sure that your offspring will live as foreigners in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them. They will afflict them four hundred years.
15:14
וְגַ֧ם אֶת־הַגּ֛וֹי אֲשֶׁ֥ר יַעֲבֹ֖דוּ דָּ֣ן אָנֹ֑כִי וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵ֥ן יֵצְא֖וּ בִּרְכֻ֥שׁ גָּדֽוֹל׃
τὸ δὲ ἔθνος ᾧ ἐὰν δουλεύσωσιν κρινῶ ἐγώ μετὰ δὲ ταῦτα ἐξελεύσονται ὧδε μετὰ ἀποσκευῆς πολλῆς
Verumtamen gentem, cui servituri sunt, ego judicabo : et post haec egredientur cum magna substantia.
ወለውእቱሰ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ እለ ፡ ይሣቅይዎሙ ፡ አነ ፡ እኬንኖሙ ፡ ወእምድኅረ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ይወጽኡ ፡ ዝየ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ብዙኅ ፡ ንዋይ ።
I will also judge that nation, whom they will serve. Afterward they will come out with great wealth;
15:15
וְאַתָּ֛ה תָּב֥וֹא אֶל־אֲבֹתֶ֖יךָ בְּשָׁל֑וֹם תִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּשֵׂיבָ֥ה טוֹבָֽה׃
σὺ δὲ ἀπελεύσῃ πρὸς τοὺς πατέρας σου μετ’ εἰρήνης ταφεὶς ἐν γήρει καλῷ
Tu autem ibis ad patres tuos in pace, sepultus in senectute bona.
ወአንተሰ ፡ ተሐውር ፡ ወትገብእ ፡ ኀበ ፡ አበዊከ ፡ በርሥእ ፡ ሠናይ ።
but you will go to your fathers in peace. You will be buried at a good old age.
15:16
וְד֥וֹר רְבִיעִ֖י יָשׁ֣וּבוּ הֵ֑נָּה כִּ֧י לֹא־שָׁלֵ֛ם עֲוֺ֥ן הָאֱמֹרִ֖י עַד־הֵֽנָּה׃
τετάρτη δὲ γενεὰ ἀποστραφήσονται ὧδε οὔπω γὰρ ἀναπεπλήρωνται αἱ ἁμαρτίαι τῶν Αμορραίων ἕως τοῦ νῦν
Generatione autem quarta revertentur huc : necdum enim completae sunt iniquitates Amorrhaeorum usque ad praesens tempus.
ወበራብዕ ፡ ትውልድ ፡ ይገብኡ ፡ ዝየ ፡ እስመ ፡ እስከ ፡ ይእዜ ፡ ኢተፈጸመ ፡ ኀጣውኢሆሙ ፡ ለአሞሬዎን ።
In the fourth generation they will come here again, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full.”
15:17
וַיְהִ֤י הַשֶּׁ֙מֶשׁ֙ בָּ֔אָה וַעֲלָטָ֖ה הָיָ֑ה וְהִנֵּ֨ה תַנּ֤וּר עָשָׁן֙ וְלַפִּ֣יד אֵ֔שׁ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָבַ֔ר בֵּ֖ין הַגְּזָרִ֥ים הָאֵֽלֶּה׃
ἐπεὶ δὲ ἐγίνετο ὁ ἥλιος πρὸς δυσμαῖς φλὸξ ἐγένετο καὶ ἰδοὺ κλίβανος καπνιζόμενος καὶ λαμπάδες πυρός αἳ διῆλθον ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν διχοτομημάτων τούτων
Cum ergo occubuisset sol, facta est caligo tenebrosa, et apparuit clibanus fumans, et lampas ignis transiens inter divisiones illas.
ወሶበ ፡ ኮነ ፡ ጊዜ ፡ ይዕረብ ፡ ፀሓይ ፡ መጽአ ፡ ነድ ፡ ወመጽአ ፡ እሳት ፡ ወመጽአ ፡ እቶን ፡ ዘይጠይስ ፡ ኀለፈ ፡ እንት ፡ ማእከሉ ፡ ለውእቱ ፡ ዘመተረ ።
It came to pass that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold, a smoking furnace and a flaming torch passed between these pieces.
15:18
בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא כָּרַ֧ת יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶת־אַבְרָ֖ם בְּרִ֣ית לֵאמֹ֑ר לְזַרְעֲךָ֗ נָתַ֙תִּי֙ אֶת־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֔את מִנְּהַ֣ר מִצְרַ֔יִם עַד־הַנָּהָ֥ר הַגָּדֹ֖ל נְהַר־פְּרָֽת׃
ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ διέθετο κύριος τῷ Αβραμ διαθήκην λέγων τῷ σπέρματί σου δώσω τὴν γῆν ταύτην ἀπὸ τοῦ ποταμοῦ Αἰγύπτου ἕως τοῦ ποταμοῦ τοῦ μεγάλου ποταμοῦ Εὐφράτου
In illo die pepigit Dominus foedus cum Abram, dicens : Semini tuo dabo terram hanc a fluvio Aegypti usque ad fluvium magnum Euphraten,
ወበይእቲ ፡ ዕለት ፡ አቅመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለአብራም ፡ ዘአሰፈዎ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ ለዘርእከ ፡ እሁባ ፡ ለዛቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ እምነ ፡ ፈለገ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ እስከ ፡ ፈለግ ፡ ዐቢይ ፡ ፈለገ ፡ ኤፍራጦስ ፤
In that day Yahweh made a covenant with Abram, saying, “I have given this land to your offspring, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:
15:19
אֶת־הַקֵּינִי֙ וְאֶת־הַקְּנִזִּ֔י וְאֵ֖ת הַקַּדְמֹנִֽי׃
τοὺς Καιναίους καὶ τοὺς Κενεζαίους καὶ τοὺς Κεδμωναίους
Cinaeos, et Cenezaeos, Cedmonaeos,
ዘቄኖስ ፡ ወዘቄኔዜዎስ ፡ ወዘቄሜኔሎስ ፤
the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites,
15:20
וְאֶת־הַחִתִּ֥י וְאֶת־הַפְּרִזִּ֖י וְאֶת־הָרְפָאִֽים׃
καὶ τοὺς Χετταίους καὶ τοὺς Φερεζαίους καὶ τοὺς Ραφαϊν
et Hethaeos, et Pherezaeos, Raphaim quoque,
ወዘቄጥዮስ ፡ ወዘፌሬዜዎስ ፡ ወዘፈራዮን ፤
the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim,
15:21
וְאֶת־הָֽאֱמֹרִי֙ וְאֶת־הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י וְאֶת־הַגִּרְגָּשִׁ֖י וְאֶת־הַיְבוּסִֽי׃ {ס}
καὶ τοὺς Αμορραίους καὶ τοὺς Χαναναίους καὶ τοὺς Ευαίους καὶ τοὺς Γεργεσαίους καὶ τοὺς Ιεβουσαίους
et Amorrhaeos, et Chananaeos, et Gergesaeos, et Jebusaeos.
ወዘአሞሬዎስ ፡ ወዘከናኔዎን ፡ ወዘጌርጌሴዎስ ፡ ወ[ዘኢያቡሴ]ዎስ ።
the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”
