33:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר ־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρός με λέγων
Et factum est verbum Domini ad me , dicens :
ወነበበኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይቤለኒ ።
Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
33:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ בֶּן ־אָדָ֗ם דַּבֵּ֤ר אֶל ־בְּנֵֽי ־עַמְּךָ֙ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם אֶ֕רֶץ כִּֽי ־אָבִ֥יא עָלֶ֖יהָ חָ֑רֶב וְלָקְח֨וּ עַם ־הָאָ֜רֶץ אִ֤ישׁ אֶחָד֙ מִקְצֵיהֶ֔ם וְנָתְנ֥וּ אֹת֛וֹ לָהֶ֖ם לְצֹפֶֽה ׃
υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου λάλησον τοῖς υἱοῖς τοῦ λαοῦ σου καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς γῆ ἐφ’ ἣν ἂν ἐπάγω ῥομφαίαν καὶ λάβῃ ὁ λαὸς τῆς γῆς ἄνθρωπον ἕνα ἐξ αὐτῶν καὶ δῶσιν αὐτὸν ἑαυτοῖς εἰς σκοπόν
Fili hominis , loquere ad filios populi tui , et dices ad eos : Terra , cum induxero super eam gladium , et tulerit populus terrae virum unum de novissimis suis , et constituerit eum super se speculatorem :
ወልደ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ ንግሮሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ ሕዝብከ ፡ ወበሎሙ ፡ ብሔር ፡ ኀበ ፡ አመጽእ ፡ ኲናተ ፡ ወይነሥኡ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ ምድር ፡ አሐደ ፡ ብእሴ ፡ እምኔሆሙ ፡ ወረሰይዎ ፡ መርሐ ።
“Son of man, speak to the children of your people, and tell them, ‘When I bring the sword on a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and set him for their watchman,
33:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְרָאָ֥ה אֶת ־הַחֶ֖רֶב בָּאָ֣ה עַל ־הָאָ֑רֶץ וְתָקַ֥ע בַּשּׁוֹפָ֖ר וְהִזְהִ֥יר אֶת ־הָעָֽם ׃
καὶ ἴδῃ τὴν ῥομφαίαν ἐρχομένην ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ σαλπίσῃ τῇ σάλπιγγι καὶ σημάνῃ τῷ λαῷ
et ille viderit gladium venientem super terram , et cecinerit buccina , et annuntiaverit populo :
ወርእየ ፡ ኲናተ ፡ ትመጽእ ፡ ለብሔር ፡ ወነፍኀ ፡ በቀርን ፡ ትእምርተ ፡ ለሠራዊት ።
if, when he sees the sword come on the land, he blows the trumpet and warns the people,
33:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְשָׁמַ֨ע הַשֹּׁמֵ֜עַ אֶת ־ק֤וֹל הַשּׁוֹפָר֙ וְלֹ֣א נִזְהָ֔ר וַתָּ֥בוֹא חֶ֖רֶב וַתִּקָּחֵ֑הוּ דָּמ֖וֹ בְּרֹאשׁ֥וֹ יִֽהְיֶֽה ׃
καὶ ἀκούσῃ ὁ ἀκούσας τὴν φωνὴν τῆς σάλπιγγος καὶ μὴ φυλάξηται καὶ ἐπέλθῃ ἡ ῥομφαία καὶ καταλάβῃ αὐτόν τὸ αἷμα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ ἔσται
audiens autem quisquis ille est sonitum buccinae , et non se observaverit , veneritque gladius , et tulerit eum : sanguis ipsius super caput ejus erit .
ወሰምዐ ፡ ዘይሰምዕ ፡ ቃለ ፡ ቀርን ፡ ወኢተግሕሠ ፣፡ ወመጽአ ፡ ኲናት ፡ ወረከቦ ፣፡ ይገብእ ፡ ደሙ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ርእሱ ።
then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and doesn’t heed the warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, his blood will be on his own head.
33:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֵת֩ ק֨וֹל הַשּׁוֹפָ֤ר שָׁמַע֙ וְלֹ֣א נִזְהָ֔ר דָּמ֖וֹ בּ֣וֹ יִֽהְיֶ֑ה וְה֥וּא נִזְהָ֖ר נַפְשׁ֥וֹ מִלֵּֽט ׃
ὅτι τὴν φωνὴν τῆς σάλπιγγος ἀκούσας οὐκ ἐφυλάξατο τὸ αἷμα αὐτοῦ ἐπ’ αὐτοῦ ἔσται καὶ οὗτος ὅτι ἐφυλάξατο τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἐξείλατο
Sonum buccinae audivit , et non se observavit : sanguis ejus in ipso erit . Si autem se custodierit , animam suam salvabit .
እስመ ፡ ሰምዐ ፡ ቃለ ፡ ቀርን ፡ ወኢተግሕሠ ፡ ወደሙ ፡ ይሰወጥ ፡ ዲቤሁ ፡ ወዝኩሰ ፡ እስመ ፡ ተግሕሠ ፡ አድኀነ ፡ ነፍሶ ።
He heard the sound of the trumpet and didn’t take warning. His blood will be on him; whereas if he had heeded the warning, he would have delivered his soul.
33:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְ֠הַצֹּפֶ֠ה כִּי ־יִרְאֶ֨ה אֶת ־הַחֶ֜רֶב בָּאָ֗ה וְלֹֽא ־תָקַ֤ע בַּשּׁוֹפָר֙ וְהָעָ֣ם לֹֽא ־נִזְהָ֔ר וַתָּב֣וֹא חֶ֔רֶב וַתִּקַּ֥ח מֵהֶ֖ם נָ֑פֶשׁ ה֚וּא בַּעֲוֺנ֣וֹ נִלְקָ֔ח וְדָמ֖וֹ מִיַּֽד ־הַצֹּפֶ֥ה אֶדְרֹֽשׁ ׃ {פ}
καὶ ὁ σκοπός ἐὰν ἴδῃ τὴν ῥομφαίαν ἐρχομένην καὶ μὴ σημάνῃ τῇ σάλπιγγι καὶ ὁ λαὸς μὴ φυλάξηται καὶ ἐλθοῦσα ἡ ῥομφαία λάβῃ ἐξ αὐτῶν ψυχήν αὕτη διὰ τὴν αὑτῆς ἀνομίαν ἐλήμφθη καὶ τὸ αἷμα ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ σκοποῦ ἐκζητήσω
Quod si speculator viderit gladium venientem , et non insonuerit buccina , et populus se non custodierit , veneritque gladius , et tulerit de eis animam : ille quidem in iniquitate sua captus est ; sanguinem autem ejus de manu speculatoris requiram .
ወሰብአ ፡ ዐይን ፡ ለእመ ፡ ርእየ ፡ ኲናተ ፡ ትመጽእ ፡ ወኢተአምረ ፡ በቃለ ፡ ቀርን ፡ ወኢተግሕሠ ፡ ሕዝብ ፣፡ ወትመጽእ ፡ ኲናት ፡ ወትነሥእ ፡ ነፍሶሙ ፡ ይጠፍኡ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ኃጢአቶሙ ፡ ወእትኀሠሥ ፡ ደሞሙ ፡ እምነ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ዐይን ።
But if the watchman sees the sword come and doesn’t blow the trumpet, and the people aren’t warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.’
33:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַתָּ֣ה בֶן ־אָדָ֔ם צֹפֶ֥ה נְתַתִּ֖יךָ לְבֵ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְשָׁמַעְתָּ֤ מִפִּי֙ דָּבָ֔ר וְהִזְהַרְתָּ֥ אֹתָ֖ם מִמֶּֽנִּי ׃
καὶ σύ υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου σκοπὸν δέδωκά σε τῷ οἴκῳ Ισραηλ καὶ ἀκούσῃ ἐκ στόματός μου λόγον
Et tu , fili hominis , speculatorem dedi te domui Israël : audiens ergo ex ore meo sermonem , annuntiabis eis ex me .
ወአንተ ፡ ወልደ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፣፡ ሰብአ ፡ ዐይን ፡ ረሰይኩከ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ከመ ፡ ትስማዕ ፡ ቃለ ፡ እምአፉየ ፡ ወታስተዐቅቦሙ ፡ እምኔየ ።
“So you, son of man, I have set you a watchman to the house of Israel. Therefore hear the word from my mouth, and give them warnings from me.
33:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ בְּאׇמְרִ֣י לָרָשָׁ֗ע רָשָׁע֙ מ֣וֹת תָּמ֔וּת וְלֹ֣א דִבַּ֔רְתָּ לְהַזְהִ֥יר רָשָׁ֖ע מִדַּרְכּ֑וֹ ה֤וּא רָשָׁע֙ בַּעֲוֺנ֣וֹ יָמ֔וּת וְדָמ֖וֹ מִיָּדְךָ֥ אֲבַקֵּֽשׁ ׃
ἐν τῷ εἶπαί με τῷ ἁμαρτωλῷ θανάτῳ θανατωθήσῃ καὶ μὴ λαλήσῃς τοῦ φυλάξασθαι τὸν ἀσεβῆ ἀπὸ τῆς ὁδοῦ αὐτοῦ αὐτὸς ὁ ἄνομος τῇ ἀνομίᾳ αὐτοῦ ἀποθανεῖται τὸ δὲ αἷμα αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῆς χειρός σου ἐκζητήσω
Si me dicente ad impium : Impie , morte morieris : non fueris locutus ut se custodiat impius a via sua , ipse impius in iniquitate sua morietur ; sanguinem autem ejus de manu tua requiram .
እምከመ ፡ እቤሎ ፡ ለኃጥእ ፡ ሞተ ፡ ትመውት ፣፡ ወኢትቤሎ ፡ ለኃጥእ ፡ ይኅድግ ፡ ፍኖቶ ፡ እኩየ ፣፡ ውእቱሂ ፡ ኃጥእ ፡ ይመውት ፡ በኃጢአቱ ፡ ወደሞ ፡ እትኀሠሥ ፡ እምእዴከ ።
When I tell the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you don’t speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man will die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at your hand.
33:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְ֠אַתָּ֠ה כִּי ־הִזְהַ֨רְתָּ רָשָׁ֤ע מִדַּרְכּוֹ֙ לָשׁ֣וּב מִמֶּ֔נָּה וְלֹא ־שָׁ֖ב מִדַּרְכּ֑וֹ ה֚וּא בַּעֲוֺנ֣וֹ יָמ֔וּת וְאַתָּ֖ה נַפְשְׁךָ֥ הִצַּֽלְתָּ ׃ {פ}
σὺ δὲ ἐὰν προαπαγγείλῃς τῷ ἀσεβεῖ τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ τοῦ ἀποστρέψαι ἀπ’ αὐτῆς καὶ μὴ ἀποστρέψῃ ἀπὸ τῆς ὁδοῦ αὐτοῦ οὗτος τῇ ἀσεβείᾳ αὐτοῦ ἀποθανεῖται καὶ σὺ τὴν ψυχὴν σαυτοῦ ἐξῄρησαι
Si autem annuntiante te ad impium ut a viis suis convertatur , non fuerit conversus a via sua , ipse in iniquitate sua morietur , porro tu animam tuam liberasti .
ወአንተሰ ፡ እምከመ ፡ ነገርኮ ፡ ለኃጥእ ፡ ይሠሥድግ ፡ ፍኖቶ ፡ ወኢተመይጠ ፡ እምፍኖቱ ፣፡ ውእቱ ፡ ይመውት ፡ በኃጢአቱ ፡ ወአንተ ፡ አድኀንከ ፡ ነፍሰከ ።
Nevertheless, if you warn the wicked of his way to turn from it, and he doesn’t turn from his way; he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your soul.
33:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַתָּ֣ה בֶן ־אָדָ֗ם אֱמֹר֙ אֶל ־בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כֵּ֤ן אֲמַרְתֶּם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר כִּֽי ־פְשָׁעֵ֥ינוּ וְחַטֹּאתֵ֖ינוּ עָלֵ֑ינוּ וּבָ֛ם אֲנַ֥חְנוּ נְמַקִּ֖ים וְאֵ֥יךְ נִֽחְיֶֽה ׃
καὶ σύ υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου εἰπὸν τῷ οἴκῳ Ισραηλ οὕτως ἐλαλήσατε λέγοντες αἱ πλάναι ἡμῶν καὶ αἱ ἀνομίαι ἡμῶν ἐφ’ ἡμῖν εἰσιν καὶ ἐν αὐταῖς ἡμεῖς τηκόμεθα καὶ πῶς ζησόμεθα
Tu ergo , fili hominis , dic ad domum Israël : Sic locuti estis , dicentes : Iniquitates nostrae et peccata nostra super nos sunt , et in ipsis nos tabescimus : quomodo ergo vivere poterimus ?
ወአንተ ፡ ወልደ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ በሎሙ ፡ ለቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ትብሉ ፡ ኃጢአትነ ፡ ወጌጋይነ ፡ ዲቤነ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወቦቱ ፡ ንማስን ፡ ወእፎ ፡ እንከ ፡ ነሐዩ ።
“You, son of man, tell the house of Israel: ‘You say this, “Our transgressions and our sins are on us, and we pine away in them. How then can we live?”’
33:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֱמֹ֨ר אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם חַי ־אָ֣נִי ׀ נְאֻ֣ם ׀ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֗ה אִם ־אֶחְפֹּץ֙ בְּמ֣וֹת הָרָשָׁ֔ע כִּ֣י אִם ־בְּשׁ֥וּב רָשָׁ֛ע מִדַּרְכּ֖וֹ וְחָיָ֑ה שׁ֣וּבוּ שׁ֜וּבוּ מִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֧ם הָרָעִ֛ים וְלָ֥מָּה תָמ֖וּתוּ בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃ {פ}
εἰπὸν αὐτοῖς ζῶ ἐγώ τάδε λέγει κύριος οὐ βούλομαι τὸν θάνατον τοῦ ἀσεβοῦς ὡς τὸ ἀποστρέψαι τὸν ἀσεβῆ ἀπὸ τῆς ὁδοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ ζῆν αὐτόν ἀποστροφῇ ἀποστρέψατε ἀπὸ τῆς ὁδοῦ ὑμῶν καὶ ἵνα τί ἀποθνῄσκετε οἶκος Ισραηλ
Dic ad eos : Vivo ego , dicit Dominus Deus , nolo mortem impii , sed ut convertatur impius a via sua , et vivat . Convertimini , convertimini a viis vestris pessimis , et quare moriemini , domus Israël ?
በሎሙ ፡ ሕያው ፡ አነ ፡ ይቤ ፡ አዶናይ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይፈቅድ ፡ ይሙት ፡ ኃጥእ ፣፡ ዳእሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይነስሕ ፡ ወይኅድግ ፡ ፍኖቶ ፡ እኪተ ፡ ወየሐዩ ። ተመየጡ ፡ ተመየጡ ፡ እምፍኖትክሙ ፡ እኩይ ፡ ወለምት ፡ ትመውቱ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ።
Tell them, ‘“As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why will you die, house of Israel?”’
33:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַתָּ֣ה בֶן ־אָדָ֗ם אֱמֹ֤ר אֶל ־בְּנֵֽי ־עַמְּךָ֙ צִדְקַ֣ת הַצַּדִּ֗יק לֹ֤א תַצִּילֶ֙נּוּ֙ בְּי֣וֹם פִּשְׁע֔וֹ וְרִשְׁעַ֤ת הָֽרָשָׁע֙ לֹא ־יִכָּ֣שֶׁל בָּ֔הּ בְּי֖וֹם שׁוּב֣וֹ מֵֽרִשְׁע֑וֹ וְצַדִּ֗יק לֹ֥א יוּכַ֛ל לִֽחְי֥וֹת בָּ֖הּ בְּי֥וֹם חֲטֹאתֽוֹ ׃
εἰπὸν πρὸς τοὺς υἱοὺς τοῦ λαοῦ σου δικαιοσύνη δικαίου οὐ μὴ ἐξέληται αὐτὸν ἐν ᾗ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ πλανηθῇ καὶ ἀνομία ἀσεβοῦς οὐ μὴ κακώσῃ αὐτὸν ἐν ᾗ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ ἀποστρέψῃ ἀπὸ τῆς ἀνομίας αὐτοῦ καὶ δίκαιος οὐ μὴ δύνηται σωθῆναι
Tu itaque , fili hominis , dic ad filios populi tui : Justitia justi non liberabit eum , in quacumque die peccaverit , et impietas impii non nocebit ei , in quacumque die conversus fuerit ab impietate sua : et justus non poterit vivere in justitia sua , in quacumque die peccaverit .
ወአንተ ፡ ወልደ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ በሎሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ ሕዝብከ ፡ ጽድቁ ፡ ለጻድቅ ፡ ኢያድኅኖ ፡ አመ ፡ ይጌጊ ፡ ወኃጢአቱ ፡ ለኃጥእ ፡ ኢያሐምሞ ፡ አመ ፡ ይኔስሕ ፡ እምጌጋዩ ፡ ወጻድቅኒ ፡ ኢይድኅን ፡ እምከመ ፡ አሰበ ።
“You, son of man, tell the children of your people, ‘The righteousness of the righteous will not deliver him in the day of his disobedience. And as for the wickedness of the wicked, he will not fall by it in the day that he turns from his wickedness; neither will he who is righteous be able to live by it in the day that he sins.
33:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ בְּאׇמְרִ֤י לַצַּדִּיק֙ חָיֹ֣ה יִֽחְיֶ֔ה וְהוּא ־בָטַ֥ח עַל ־צִדְקָת֖וֹ וְעָ֣שָׂה עָ֑וֶל כׇּל ־צִדְקֹתָו֙ לֹ֣א תִזָּכַ֔רְנָה וּבְעַוְל֥וֹ אֲשֶׁר ־עָשָׂ֖ה בּ֥וֹ יָמֽוּת ׃
ἐν τῷ εἶπαί με τῷ δικαίῳ οὗτος πέποιθεν ἐπὶ τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ αὐτοῦ καὶ ποιήσῃ ἀνομίαν πᾶσαι αἱ δικαιοσύναι αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ ἀναμνησθῶσιν ἐν τῇ ἀδικίᾳ αὐτοῦ ᾗ ἐποίησεν ἐν αὐτῇ ἀποθανεῖται
Etiamsi dixero justo quod vita vivat , et confisus in justitia sua fecerit iniquitatem , omnes justitiae ejus oblivioni tradentur , et in iniquitate sua quam operatus est , in ipsa morietur .
ሶበ ፡ እቤሎ ፡ ለጻድቅ ፡ ሕይወተ ፡ ተሐዩ ፡ ለእመ ፡ ተአመነ ፡ በጽድቁ ፡ ወገብረ ፡ ኃጢአተ ፣፡ ኵሎ ፡ ጽድቆ ፡ ኢይዜከር ፡ ሎቱ ፡ በኃጢአቱ ፡ ዘገብረ ፡ ይመውት ።
When I tell the righteous that he will surely live, if he trusts in his righteousness and commits iniquity, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered; but he will die in his iniquity that he has committed.
33:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבְאׇמְרִ֥י לָרָשָׁ֖ע מ֣וֹת תָּמ֑וּת וְשָׁב֙ מֵֽחַטָּאת֔וֹ וְעָשָׂ֥ה מִשְׁפָּ֖ט וּצְדָקָֽה ׃
καὶ ἐν τῷ εἶπαί με τῷ ἀσεβεῖ θανάτῳ θανατωθήσῃ καὶ ἀποστρέψῃ ἀπὸ τῆς ἁμαρτίας αὐτοῦ καὶ ποιήσῃ κρίμα καὶ δικαιοσύνην
Si autem dixero impio : Morte morieris : et egerit poenitentiam a peccato suo , feceritque judicium et justitiam ,
ወእምከመ ፡ እቤሎ ፡ ለኃጥእ ፡ ሞተ ፡ ትመውት ፣፡ ወነስሐ ፡ እምኃጢአቱ ፡ ወገብረ ፡ ጽድቀ ፡ ወርትዐ ።
Again, when I say to the wicked, “You will surely die,” if he turns from his sin and does that which is lawful and right,
33:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ חֲבֹ֨ל יָשִׁ֤יב רָשָׁע֙ גְּזֵלָ֣ה יְשַׁלֵּ֔ם בְּחֻקּ֤וֹת הַֽחַיִּים֙ הָלַ֔ךְ לְבִלְתִּ֖י עֲשׂ֣וֹת עָ֑וֶל חָי֥וֹ יִֽחְיֶ֖ה לֹ֥א יָמֽוּת ׃
καὶ ἐνεχύρασμα ἀποδῷ καὶ ἅρπαγμα ἀποτείσῃ ἐν προστάγμασιν ζωῆς διαπορεύηται τοῦ μὴ ποιῆσαι ἄδικον ζωῇ ζήσεται καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ
et pignus restituerit ille impius , rapinamque reddiderit , in mandatis vitae ambulaverit , nec fecerit quidquam injustum : vita vivet , et non morietur .
ወአግብአ ፡ አኅዞ ፡ ወፈደየ ፡ ዘሄደ ፡ ወበሕገ ፡ ሕይወት ፡ ሖረ ፡ ወኢገብረ ፡ ኃጢአተ ፡ ሕይወተ ፡ የሐዩ ፡ ወኢይመውት ፡ በኃጢአቱ ፡ ዘአበሰ ።
if the wicked restore the pledge, give again that which he had taken by robbery, walk in the statutes of life, committing no iniquity, he will surely live. He will not die.
33:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ כׇּל ־חַטֹּאתָו֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָטָ֔א לֹ֥א תִזָּכַ֖רְנָה ל֑וֹ מִשְׁפָּ֧ט וּצְדָקָ֛ה עָשָׂ֖ה חָי֥וֹ יִֽחְיֶֽה ׃
πᾶσαι αἱ ἁμαρτίαι αὐτοῦ ἃς ἥμαρτεν οὐ μὴ ἀναμνησθῶσιν ὅτι κρίμα καὶ δικαιοσύνην ἐποίησεν ἐν αὐτοῖς ζήσεται
Omnia peccata ejus quae peccavit , non imputabuntur ei : judicium et justitiam fecit : vita vivet .
ወኢይዜከር ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ጌጋዩ ፡ እስመ ፡ ገብረ ፡ ጽድቀ ፡ ወርትዐ ፡ ወቦቱ ፡ የሐዩ ።
None of his sins that he has committed will be remembered against him. He has done that which is lawful and right. He will surely live.
33:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאָֽמְרוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י עַמְּךָ֔ לֹ֥א יִתָּכֵ֖ן דֶּ֣רֶךְ אֲדֹנָ֑י וְהֵ֖מָּה דַּרְכָּ֥ם לֹא ־יִתָּכֵֽן ׃
καὶ ἐροῦσιν οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ λαοῦ σου οὐκ εὐθεῖα ἡ ὁδὸς τοῦ κυρίου καὶ αὕτη ἡ ὁδὸς αὐτῶν οὐκ εὐθεῖα
Et dixerunt filii populi tui : Non est aequi ponderis via Domini : et ipsorum via injusta est .
ወይብሉ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ሕዝብከ ፡ ኢኮነ ፡ ርቱዐ ፡ ፍኖተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ። ወፍኖተ ፡ ዚአሆሙ ፡ ኢኮነ ፡ ርቱዐ ።
“‘Yet the children of your people say, “The way of the Lord is not fair;” but as for them, their way is not fair.
33:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ בְּשׁוּב ־צַדִּ֥יק מִצִּדְקָת֖וֹ וְעָ֣שָׂה עָ֑וֶל וּמֵ֖ת בָּהֶֽם ׃
ἐν τῷ ἀποστρέψαι δίκαιον ἀπὸ τῆς δικαιοσύνης αὐτοῦ καὶ ποιήσῃ ἀνομίας καὶ ἀποθανεῖται ἐν αὐταῖς
Cum enim recesserit justus a justitia sua , feceritque iniquitates , morietur in eis .
እምከመ ፡ ተመይጠ ፡ ጻድቅ ፡ እምጽድቁ ፡ ወገብረ ፡ ኃጢአተ ፣፡ ይመውት ፡ ቦቱ ።
When the righteous turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he will even die therein.
33:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבְשׁ֤וּב רָשָׁע֙ מֵֽרִשְׁעָת֔וֹ וְעָשָׂ֥ה מִשְׁפָּ֖ט וּצְדָקָ֑ה עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם ה֥וּא יִֽחְיֶֽה ׃
καὶ ἐν τῷ ἀποστρέψαι τὸν ἁμαρτωλὸν ἀπὸ τῆς ἀνομίας αὐτοῦ καὶ ποιήσῃ κρίμα καὶ δικαιοσύνην ἐν αὐτοῖς αὐτὸς ζήσεται
Et cum recesserit impius ab impietate sua , feceritque judicium et justitiam , vivet in eis .
ወለእመ ፡ ተመይጠ ፡ ኃጥእ ፡ እምኃጢአቱ ፡ ወገብረ ፡ ጽድቀ ፡ ወርትዐ ፣፡ የሐዩ ፡ ቦቱ ።
When the wicked turns from his wickedness and does that which is lawful and right, he will live by it.
33:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֕ם לֹ֥א יִתָּכֵ֖ן דֶּ֣רֶךְ אֲדֹנָ֑י אִ֧ישׁ כִּדְרָכָ֛יו אֶשְׁפּ֥וֹט אֶתְכֶ֖ם בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃ {פ}
καὶ τοῦτό ἐστιν ὃ εἴπατε οὐκ εὐθεῖα ἡ ὁδὸς κυρίου ἕκαστον ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτοῦ κρινῶ ὑμᾶς οἶκος Ισραηλ
Et dicitis : Non est recta via Domini . Unumquemque juxta vias suas judicabo de vobis , domus Israël .
ወዝ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘይብሉ ፡ ኢኮነ ፡ ርቱዐ ፡ ፍኖተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ። ወእኴንነክሙ ፡ በከመ ፡ ፍኖትክሙ ፡ ለኵልክሙ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እስራኤል ።
Yet you say, “The way of the Lord is not fair.” House of Israel, I will judge every one of you after his ways.’”
33:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֞י בִּשְׁתֵּ֧י עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה שָׁנָ֗ה בָּעֲשִׂרִ֛י בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֥ה לַחֹ֖דֶשׁ לְגָלוּתֵ֑נוּ בָּא ־אֵלַ֨י הַפָּלִ֧יט מִירוּשָׁלַ֛͏ִם לֵאמֹ֖ר הֻכְּתָ֥ה הָעִֽיר ׃
καὶ ἐγενήθη ἐν τῷ δωδεκάτῳ ἔτει ἐν τῷ δωδεκάτῳ μηνὶ πέμπτῃ τοῦ μηνὸς τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας ἡμῶν ἦλθεν ὁ ἀνασωθεὶς πρός με ἀπὸ Ιερουσαλημ λέγων ἑάλω ἡ πόλις
Et factum est in duodecimo anno , in decimo mense , in quinta mensis transmigrationis nostrae , venit ad me qui fugerat de Jerusalem , dicens : Vastata est civitas .
ወኮነ ፡ አመ ፡ ፲ወ፪ ፡ ዓመት ፣፡ በዐሥራይ ፡ ወርኅ ፡ ወአመ ፡ ኃሙሱ ፡ ለሠርቅ ፡ እምዘ ፡ ተፄወውነ ፣፡ መጽአ ፡ ኀቤየ ፡ ዘድኅነ ፡ እምኢየሩሳሌም ፡ ወይቤለኒ ፡ ተቀትለት ፡ ሀገር ።
In the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, one who had escaped out of Jerusalem came to me, saying, “The city has been defeated!”
33:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְיַד ־יְהֹוָה֩ הָיְתָ֨ה אֵלַ֜י בָּעֶ֗רֶב לִפְנֵי֙ בּ֣וֹא הַפָּלִ֔יט וַיִּפְתַּ֣ח אֶת ־פִּ֔י עַד ־בּ֥וֹא אֵלַ֖י בַּבֹּ֑קֶר וַיִּפָּ֣תַח פִּ֔י וְלֹ֥א נֶאֱלַ֖מְתִּי עֽוֹד ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐγενήθη ἐπ’ ἐμὲ χεὶρ κυρίου ἑσπέρας πρὶν ἐλθεῖν αὐτὸν καὶ ἤνοιξέν μου τὸ στόμα ἕως ἦλθεν πρός με τὸ πρωί καὶ ἀνοιχθέν μου τὸ στόμα οὐ συνεσχέθη ἔτι
Manus autem Domini facta fuerat ad me vespere , antequam veniret qui fugerat : aperuitque os meum donec veniret ad me mane : et aperto ore meo , non silui amplius .
ወመጽአ ፡ እደ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኀቤየ ፡ ፍና ፡ ሰርክ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ይምጻእ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘድኅነ ፡ ወከሠተ ፡ አፉየ ፡ እስከ ፡ መጽአ ፡ ኀቤየ ፡ በጽባሕ ። ወአብቂዎ ፡ አፉየ ፡ ኢተጋብአ ፡ እንከ ።
Now Yahweh’s hand had been on me in the evening, before he who had escaped came; and he had opened my mouth until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no longer mute.
33:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר ־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר ׃
καὶ ἐγενήθη λόγος κυρίου πρός με λέγων
Et factum est verbum Domini ad me , dicens :
ወነበበኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይቤለኒ ።
Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
33:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ בֶּן ־אָדָ֗ם יֹ֠שְׁבֵ֠י הֶחֳרָב֨וֹת הָאֵ֜לֶּה עַל ־אַדְמַ֤ת יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֹמְרִ֣ים לֵאמֹ֔ר אֶחָד֙ הָיָ֣ה אַבְרָהָ֔ם וַיִּירַ֖שׁ אֶת ־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַאֲנַ֣חְנוּ רַבִּ֔ים לָ֛נוּ נִתְּנָ֥ה הָאָ֖רֶץ לְמוֹרָשָֽׁה ׃ {ס}
υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὰς ἠρημωμένας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς τοῦ Ισραηλ λέγουσιν εἷς ἦν Αβρααμ καὶ κατέσχεν τὴν γῆν καὶ ἡμεῖς πλείους ἐσμέν ἡμῖν δέδοται ἡ γῆ εἰς κατάσχεσιν
Fili hominis , qui habitant in ruinosis his super humum Israël , loquentes aiunt : Unus erat Abraham , et haereditate possedit terram : nos autem multi sumus : nobis data est terra in possessionem .
ወልደ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፣፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መዝበረ ፡ ምድረ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ይቤሉ ፡ አብርሃም ፡ ፩ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ኰነና ፡ ለምድር ፡ ወንሕነ ፡ ንበዝኅ ፡ ወለነ ፡ ተውህበት ፡ ምድር ፡ ንኰንና ።
“Son of man, those who inhabit the waste places in the land of Israel speak, saying, ‘Abraham was one, and he inherited the land; but we are many. The land is given us for inheritance.’
33:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ לָכֵן֩ אֱמֹ֨ר אֲלֵהֶ֜ם כֹּה ־אָמַ֣ר ׀ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֗ה עַל ־הַדָּ֧ם ׀תֹּאכֵ֛לוּ וְעֵינֵכֶ֛ם תִּשְׂא֥וּ אֶל ־גִּלּוּלֵיכֶ֖ם וְדָ֣ם תִּשְׁפֹּ֑כוּ וְהָאָ֖רֶץ תִּירָֽשׁוּ ׃
διὰ τοῦτο εἰπὸν αὐτοῖς τάδε λέγει κύριος κύριος
Idcirco dices ad eos : Haec dicit Dominus Deus : Qui in sanguine comeditis , et oculos vestros levatis ad immunditias vestras , et sanguinem funditis , numquid terram haereditate possidebitis ?
በበይነ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ በሎሙ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አዶናይ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ደም ፡ ትበልዑ ፡ ወታነሥኡ ፡ ዐይነክሙ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ጣዖትክሙ ፡ ወትቀትሉ ፡ ነፍሰ ፣፡ ወትወርሱኑ ፡ ምድረ ።
Therefore tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “You eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes to your idols, and shed blood. So should you possess the land?
33:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ עֲמַדְתֶּ֤ם עַֽל ־חַרְבְּכֶם֙ עֲשִׂיתֶ֣ן תּוֹעֵבָ֔ה וְאִ֛ישׁ אֶת ־אֵ֥שֶׁת רֵעֵ֖הוּ טִמֵּאתֶ֑ם וְהָאָ֖רֶץ תִּירָֽשׁוּ ׃ {ס}
— stetistis in gladiis vestris , fecistis abominationes , et unusquisque uxorem proximi sui polluit : et terram haereditate possidebitis ?
ቀዊመክሙ ፡ በኲናትክሙ ፡ ወገበርክሙ ፡ ጣዖተ ፡ ወአርኰስክሙ ፡ ብእሲተ ፡ ቢጽክሙ ፣፡ ወትወርሱኑ ፡ ምድረ ።
You stand on your sword, you work abomination, and every one of you defiles his neighbor’s wife. So should you possess the land?”’
33:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ כֹּה ־תֹאמַ֨ר אֲלֵהֶ֜ם כֹּה ־אָמַ֨ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִה֮ חַי ־אָ֒נִי֒ אִם ־לֹ֞א אֲשֶׁ֤ר בֶּֽחֳרָבוֹת֙ בַּחֶ֣רֶב יִפֹּ֔לוּ וַֽאֲשֶׁר֙ עַל ־פְּנֵ֣י הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה לַחַיָּ֥ה נְתַתִּ֖יו לְאׇכְל֑וֹ וַאֲשֶׁ֛ר בַּמְּצָד֥וֹת וּבַמְּעָר֖וֹת בַּדֶּ֥בֶר יָמֽוּתוּ ׃
ζῶ ἐγώ εἰ μὴν οἱ ἐν ταῖς ἠρημωμέναις μαχαίρᾳ πεσοῦνται καὶ οἱ ἐπὶ προσώπου τοῦ πεδίου τοῖς θηρίοις τοῦ ἀγροῦ δοθήσονται εἰς κατάβρωμα καὶ τοὺς ἐν ταῖς τετειχισμέναις καὶ τοὺς ἐν τοῖς σπηλαίοις θανάτῳ ἀποκτενῶ
Haec dices ad eos : Sic dicit Dominus Deus : Vivo ego , quia qui in ruinosis habitant , gladio cadent : et qui in agro est , bestiis tradetur ad devorandum : qui autem in praesidiis et speluncis sunt , peste morientur .
በበይነ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ በሎሙ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ አዶናይ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሕያው ፡ አነ ፣፡ ዳእሙ ፡ እለ ፡ በሙስናት ፡ በመጣብሕ ፡ ይወድቁ ፣፡ ወእለሂ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገጸ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ለአርዌ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ይትወሀቡ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ሲሳዮሙ ፣፡ ወእለሂ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጥቅም ፡ ወእለ ፡ ውስተ ፡ በአታት ፡ በብድብድ ፡ ይመውቱ ።
“You shall tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “As I live, surely those who are in the waste places will fall by the sword. I will give whoever is in the open field to the animals to be devoured, and those who are in the strongholds and in the caves will die of the pestilence.
33:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְנָתַתִּ֤י אֶת ־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ שְׁמָמָ֣ה וּמְשַׁמָּ֔ה וְנִשְׁבַּ֖ת גְּא֣וֹן עֻזָּ֑הּ וְשָׁ֥מְמ֛וּ הָרֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵאֵ֥ין עוֹבֵֽר ׃
καὶ δώσω τὴν γῆν ἔρημον καὶ ἀπολεῖται ἡ ὕβρις τῆς ἰσχύος αὐτῆς καὶ ἐρημωθήσεται τὰ ὄρη τοῦ Ισραηλ διὰ τὸ μὴ εἶναι διαπορευόμενον
Et dabo terram in solitudinem et in desertum , et deficiet superba fortitudo ejus : et desolabuntur montes Israël , eo quod nullus sit qui per eos transeat :
ወእሬስያ ፡ ለምድር ፡ በድወ ፡ ወየኃልቅ ፡ ጽዕለተ ፡ ኃይላ ፣፡ ወይማስኑ ፡ አድባረ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘየሐውሮሙ ።
I will make the land a desolation and an astonishment. The pride of her power will cease. The mountains of Israel will be desolate, so that no one will pass through.
33:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְיָדְע֖וּ כִּֽי ־אֲנִ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה בְּתִתִּ֤י אֶת ־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ שְׁמָמָ֣ה וּמְשַׁמָּ֔ה עַ֥ל כׇּל ־תּוֹעֲבֹתָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשֽׂוּ ׃ {פ}
καὶ γνώσονται ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι κύριος καὶ ποιήσω τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν ἔρημον καὶ ἐρημωθήσεται διὰ πάντα τὰ βδελύγματα αὐτῶν ἃ ἐποίησαν
et scient quia ego Dominus , cum dedero terram eorum desolatam et desertam , propter universas abominationes suas quas operati sunt .
ወየአምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ አነ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ። ወእሬስያ ፡ በድወ ፡ ለምድሮሙ ፡ ወተኀሥር ፡ በእንተ ፡ ጣዖቶሙ ፡ ዘገብሩ ።
Then they will know that I am Yahweh, when I have made the land a desolation and an astonishment because of all their abominations which they have committed.”’
33:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַתָּ֣ה בֶן ־אָדָ֔ם בְּנֵ֣י עַמְּךָ֗ הַנִּדְבָּרִ֤ים בְּךָ֙ אֵ֣צֶל הַקִּיר֔וֹת וּבְפִתְחֵ֖י הַבָּתִּ֑ים וְדִבֶּר ־חַ֣ד אֶת ־אַחַ֗ד אִ֤ישׁ אֶת ־אָחִיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר בֹּאוּ ־נָ֣א וְשִׁמְע֔וּ מָ֣ה הַדָּבָ֔ר הַיּוֹצֵ֖א מֵאֵ֥ת יְהֹוָֽה ׃
καὶ σύ υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ λαοῦ σου οἱ λαλοῦντες περὶ σοῦ παρὰ τὰ τείχη καὶ ἐν τοῖς πυλῶσι τῶν οἰκιῶν καὶ λαλοῦσιν ἄνθρωπος τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ λέγοντες συνέλθωμεν καὶ ἀκούσωμεν τὰ ἐκπορευόμενα παρὰ κυρίου
Et tu , fili hominis , filii populi tui , qui loquuntur de te juxta muros et in ostiis domorum , et dicunt unus ad alterum , vir ad proximum suum , loquentes : Venite , et audiamus quis sit sermo egrediens a Domino .
ወአንተሂ ፡ ወልደ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፣፡ ይብሉ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ሕዝብከ ፡ በእንቲአከ ፡ በኀበ ፡ አረፍት ፡ ወበዴዴያተ ፡ አብያት ፡ ወይትናገር ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ቢጹ ፡ ወይቤሉ ፡ ንዑ ፡ ንሑር ፡ ወንስማዕ ፡ ዘይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
“As for you, son of man, the children of your people talk about you by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak to one another, everyone to his brother, saying, ‘Please come and hear what the word is that comes out from Yahweh.’
33:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְיָב֣וֹאוּ אֵ֠לֶ֠יךָ כִּמְבוֹא ־עָ֞ם וְיֵשְׁב֤וּ לְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙ עַמִּ֔י וְשָֽׁמְעוּ֙ אֶת ־דְּבָרֶ֔יךָ וְאוֹתָ֖ם לֹ֣א יַעֲשׂ֑וּ כִּֽי ־עֲגָבִ֤ים בְּפִיהֶם֙ הֵ֣מָּה עֹשִׂ֔ים אַחֲרֵ֥י בִצְעָ֖ם לִבָּ֥ם הֹלֵֽךְ ׃
ἔρχονται πρὸς σέ ὡς συμπορεύεται λαός καὶ κάθηνται ἐναντίον σου καὶ ἀκούουσιν τὰ ῥήματά σου καὶ αὐτὰ οὐ μὴ ποιήσουσιν ὅτι ψεῦδος ἐν τῷ στόματι αὐτῶν καὶ ὀπίσω τῶν μιασμάτων ἡ καρδία αὐτῶν
Et veniunt ad te , quasi si ingrediatur populus , et sedent coram te populus meus : et audiunt sermones tuos , et non faciunt eos : quia in canticum oris sui vertunt illos , et avaritiam suam sequitur cor eorum .
ወይመጽኡ ፡ ኀቤከ ፡ ኅቡረ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወይነብሩ ፡ ቅድሜከ ፡ ሕዝብየ ፡ ወያጸምዑ ፡ ቃለከ ፡ ወኢይገብርዎ ፣፡ እስመ ፡ ሐሰት ፡ ውስተ ፡ አፉሆሙ ፡ ወጣዖተ ፡ ይተሉ ፡ ልቦሙ ።
They come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear your words, but don’t do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their gain.
33:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהִנְּךָ֤ לָהֶם֙ כְּשִׁ֣יר עֲגָבִ֔ים יְפֵ֥ה ק֖וֹל וּמֵטִ֣ב נַגֵּ֑ן וְשָֽׁמְעוּ֙ אֶת ־דְּבָרֶ֔יךָ וְעֹשִׂ֥ים אֵינָ֖ם אוֹתָֽם ׃
καὶ γίνῃ αὐτοῖς ὡς φωνὴ ψαλτηρίου ἡδυφώνου εὐαρμόστου καὶ ἀκούσονταί σου τὰ ῥήματα καὶ οὐ μὴ ποιήσουσιν αὐτά
Et es eis quasi carmen musicum , quod suavi dulcique sono canitur : et audiunt verba tua , et non faciunt ea .
ወኮንኮሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ቃለ ፡ መዝሙር ፡ ዘሐዋዝ ፡ ቃለ ፡ ቃናሁ ፣፡ ወይሰምዑ ፡ ቃለከ ፡ ወኢይገብርዎ ።
Behold, you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they don’t do them.
33:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּבְבֹאָ֑הּ הִנֵּ֣ה בָאָ֔ה וְיָ֣דְע֔וּ כִּ֥י נָבִ֖יא הָיָ֥ה בְתוֹכָֽם ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἡνίκα ἂν ἔλθῃ ἐροῦσιν ἰδοὺ ἥκει καὶ γνώσονται ὅτι προφήτης ἦν ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν
Et cum venerit quod praedictum est (ecce enim venit ), tunc scient quod prophetes fuerit inter eos .
ወሶበ ፡ መጽአ ፡ ይብሉ ፡ ናሁ ፡ መጽአ ፣፡ ወየአምሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ ነቢይ ፡ አንተ ፡ በማእከሎሙ ።
“When this comes to pass—behold, it comes—then they will know that a prophet has been among them.”
