5:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Πρεσβυτέρῳ μὴ ἐπιπλήξῃς , ἀλλὰ παρακάλει ὡς πατέρα , νεωτέρους ὡς ἀδελφούς ,
Seniorem ne increpaveris , sed obsecra ut patrem : juvenes , ut fratres :
ሊቃናተ ኢታመጕጽ ተአዘዝ ከመ ዘለአቡከ ወለንኡሳን ከመ ዘለአኀዊከ ።
Don’t rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brothers;
5:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ πρεσβυτέρας ὡς μητέρας , νεωτέρας ὡς ἀδελφὰς ἐν πάσῃ ἁγνείᾳ .
anus , ut matres : juvenculas , ut sorores in omni castitate :
ወለልሂቃትሂ ከመ ዘለእምከ ወለንኡሳትሂ ከመ ዘለአኃቲከ በኵሉ ንጽሕ ።
the elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity.
5:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ Χήρας τίμα τὰς ὄντως χήρας .
viduas honora , quae vere viduae sunt .
ወአክብር ዕቤራተ በጽድቅ ።
Honor widows who are widows indeed.
5:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ δέ τις χήρα τέκνα ἢ ἔκγονα ἔχει , μανθανέτωσαν πρῶτον τὸν ἴδιον οἶκον εὐσεβεῖν καὶ ἀμοιβὰς ἀποδιδόναι τοῖς προγόνοις , τοῦτο γάρ ἐστιν ἀπόδεκτον ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ .
Si qua autem vidua filios , aut nepotes habet : discat primum domum suam regere , et mutuam vicem reddere parentibus : hoc enim acceptum est coram Deo .
ወእመ ቦ እምኔሆሙ ዕቤር እንተ ባቲ ውሉድ አው ደቂቀ ውሉድ ይትመሀሩ ቅድመ አሠንዮ ለቤቶሙ ወይሴስዩ አዝማዲሆሙ እስመ ከማሁ ሠናይ ወሥሙር በቅድመ እግዚአብሔር ።
But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety toward their own family and to repay their parents, for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
5:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡ δὲ ὄντως χήρα καὶ μεμονωμένη ἤλπικεν ἐπὶ θεὸν καὶ προσμένει ταῖς δεήσεσιν καὶ ταῖς προσευχαῖς νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας ·
Quae autem vere vidua est , et desolata , speret in Deum , et instet obsecrationibus , et orationibus nocte ac die .
ወእንተሰ ዕቤር በአማን ንጽሕት እንተ ባሕቲታ ትነብር እስመ ትውክልታ እግዚአብሔር ባሕቲቱ ወትፀመድ ጸሎተ ወትስእል መዐልተ ወሌሊተ ።
Now she who is a widow indeed and desolate, has her hope set on God and continues in petitions and prayers night and day.
5:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡ δὲ σπαταλῶσα ζῶσα τέθνηκεν .
Nam quae in deliciis est , vivens mortua est .
ወእንተሰ ትፌግዕ ምስለ ተውኔት ምውት ይእቲ እንዘ ሕያዋ ።
But she who gives herself to pleasure is dead while she lives.
5:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ταῦτα παράγγελλε , ἵνα ἀνεπίλημπτοι ὦσιν .
Et hoc praecipe , ut irreprehensibiles sint .
ወከመዝ ገሥጽ ከመ ኢያድልዉ ወኢያመክንዩ ።
Also command these things, that they may be without reproach.
5:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ δέ τις τῶν ἰδίων καὶ μάλιστα οἰκείων οὐ προνοεῖται , τὴν πίστιν ἤρνηται καὶ ἔστιν ἀπίστου χείρων .
Si quis autem suorum , et maxime domesticorum , curam non habet , fidem negavit , et est infideli deterior .
ወዘሰ ኢይኄሊ ለቤቱ ወይገድፍ አዝማዲሁ ወፈድፋደሰ ለእመ ኮኑ እምሰብአ ሃይማኖት ውእቱ ክሕደ ሃይማኖቶ ወየአኪ እምዘኢየአምን ።
But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
5:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ Χήρα καταλεγέσθω μὴ ἔλαττον ἐτῶν ἑξήκοντα γεγονυῖα , ἑνὸς ἀνδρὸς γυνή ,
Vidua eligatur non minus sexaginta annorum , quae fuerit unius viri uxor ,
ወለእመ ኀረይከ እቤረ ኅረይ እንተ ስሳ ክረምታ እንተ አሐደ ብእሴ አውሰበት ።
Let no one be enrolled as a widow under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man,
5:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐν ἔργοις καλοῖς μαρτυρουμένη , εἰ ἐτεκνοτρόφησεν , εἰ ἐξενοδόχησεν , εἰ ἁγίων πόδας ἔνιψεν , εἰ θλιβομένοις ἐπήρκεσεν , εἰ παντὶ ἔργῳ ἀγαθῷ ἐπηκολούθησεν .
in operibus bonis testimonium habens , si filios educavit , si hospitio recepit , si sanctorum pedes lavit , si tribulationem patientibus subministravit , si omne opus bonum subsecuta est .
እንተ ይንእድዋ በኵሉ ምግባረ ሠናይ ለእመ አልሀቀት ውሉዳ ወለእመ ነግደ ተወክፈት ወለእመ እግረ ጻድቃን ኀፀበት ወለእመ ርኁበ አጽገበት ወኵሎ ምግባረ ሠናይ ለእመ ተለወት ።
being approved by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has been hospitable to strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, and if she has diligently followed every good work.
5:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ νεωτέρας δὲ χήρας παραιτοῦ · ὅταν γὰρ καταστρηνιάσωσιν τοῦ Χριστοῦ , γαμεῖν θέλουσιν ,
Adolescentiores autem viduas devita : cum enim luxuriatae fuerint in Christo , nubere volunt :
ወለንኡሳትሰ መበለታት ተገሐሦን ወኢትሢሞን ከመ ኢይትፈግዓ ላዕለ ክርስቶስ ወይፈቅዳ ይግብኣ ለአውስቦ ።
But refuse younger widows, for when they have grown wanton against Christ, they desire to marry,
5:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔχουσαι κρίμα ὅτι τὴν πρώτην πίστιν ἠθέτησαν ·
habentes damnationem , quia primam fidem irritam fecerunt ;
ወጽኑሕ ደይኖን ለእመ ክሕዳ ሃይማኖቶን ቀዳሚተ ።
having condemnation, because they have rejected their first pledge.
5:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἅμα δὲ καὶ ἀργαὶ μανθάνουσιν , περιερχόμεναι τὰς οἰκίας , οὐ μόνον δὲ ἀργαὶ ἀλλὰ καὶ φλύαροι καὶ περίεργοι , λαλοῦσαι τὰ μὴ δέοντα .
simul autem et otiosae discunt circuire domos : non solum otiosae , sed et verbosae , et curiosae , loquentes quae non oportet .
ወዓዲ አፅርዕተ ወሀኬተ ይትሜሀራ እንዘ የዐውዳ አብያተ ወአኮ አፅርዕተ ባሕቲቶ አላ ዓዲ ከመ ያብዝኃ ነቢበ ወምግባረ ከንቱ ይፈጥራ ነገረ ዘኢህልው ።
Besides, they also learn to be idle, going about from house to house. Not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.
5:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ βούλομαι οὖν νεωτέρας γαμεῖν , τεκνογονεῖν , οἰκοδεσποτεῖν , μηδεμίαν ἀφορμὴν διδόναι τῷ ἀντικειμένῳ λοιδορίας χάριν ·
Volo ergo juniores nubere , filios procreare , matresfamilias esse , nullam occasionem dare adversario maledicti gratia .
እፈቅድ እንከ ለንኡሳት ያውስባ ወይትዋለዳ ወይኩና በዓልታተ ቤት ከመ ኢይርከብ ምክንያተ ወኢአሐተኒ በዘይጸብኦን ጸላኢ ከመ ኢያጽዕላ ርእሶን ።
I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, and give no occasion to the adversary for insulting.
5:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἤδη γάρ τινες ἐξετράπησαν ὀπίσω τοῦ σατανᾶ .
Jam enim quaedam conversae sunt retro Satanam .
እስመ ቦ እለ ተመይጡ ወተለውዎ ለሰይጣን ።
For already some have turned away after Satan.
5:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἴ τις πιστὴ ἔχει χήρας , ἐπαρκείσθω αὐταῖς , καὶ μὴ βαρείσθω ἡ ἐκκλησία , ἵνα ταῖς ὄντως χήραις ἐπαρκέσῃ .
Si quis fidelis habet viduas , subministret illis , et non gravetur ecclesia : ut iis quae vere viduae sunt , sufficiat .
ወለእመ ቦ እምእመናን ዘቦ ዕቤር ይዕቀባ ወኢያክብድ ላዕለ ቤተ ክርስቲያን ከመ ትክሀል ለእለ በአማን ዕቤራት ።
If any man or woman who believes has widows, let them relieve them, and don’t let the assembly be burdened, that it might relieve those who are widows indeed.
5:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ Οἱ καλῶς προεστῶτες πρεσβύτεροι διπλῆς τιμῆς ἀξιούσθωσαν , μάλιστα οἱ κοπιῶντες ἐν λόγῳ καὶ διδασκαλίᾳ ·
Qui bene praesunt presbyteri , duplici honore digni habeantur : maxime qui laborant in verbo et doctrina .
እለሰ ሠናየ ተልእኩ ቀሲሳን ምክዕቢተ ክብር ይደልዎሙ ወፈድፋደሰ ለእለ ይሰርሑ በቃል ወበምህሮ ።
Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching.
5:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγει γὰρ ἡ γραφή , βοῦν ἀλοῶντα οὐ φιμώσεις · καί , ἄξιος ὁ ἐργάτης τοῦ μισθοῦ αὐτοῦ .
Dicit enim Scriptura : Non alligabis os bovi trituranti . Et : Dignus est operarius mercede sua .
ወይብል መጽሐፍ «ኢትፍፅሞ አፉሁ ለላሕም ሶበ ታከይድ እክለከ ወይደልዎ ዐስቡ ለዘይትቀነይ ።»
For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle the ox when it treads out the grain.” And, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.”
5:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ κατὰ πρεσβυτέρου κατηγορίαν μὴ παραδέχου , ἐκτὸς εἰ μὴ ἐπὶ δύο ἢ τριῶν μαρτύρων .
Adversus presbyterum accusationem noli recipere , nisi sub duobus aut tribus testibus .
ላዕለ ልሂቅ ኢትስማዕ ውዴተ ዘእንበለ ይዝልፍዎ ክልኤቱ ወሠለስቱ ሰማዕት ።
Don’t receive an accusation against an elder except at the word of two or three witnesses.
5:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τοὺς ἁμαρτάνοντας ἐνώπιον πάντων ἔλεγχε , ἵνα καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ φόβον ἔχωσιν .
Peccantes coram omnibus argue : ut et ceteri timorem habeant .
ወለእለሂ ስሕቱ በቅድመ ኵሉ ገሥጾሙ ከመ ባዕድኒ ይፍራህ ።
Those who sin, reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.
5:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ Διαμαρτύρομαι ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ καὶ τῶν ἐκλεκτῶν ἀγγέλων , ἵνα ταῦτα φυλάξῃς χωρὶς προκρίματος , μηδὲν ποιῶν κατὰ πρόσκλισιν .
Testor coram Deo et Christo Jesu , et electis angelis , ut haec custodias sine praejudicio , nihil faciens in alteram partem declinando .
አሰምዕ ለከ በቅድመ እግዚአብሔር ወእግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ወመላእክቲሁ ኅሩያን ከመ ትዕቀብ ዘንተ እንዘ ኢታደሉ ወኢታጽድቆ ለሰብእ ቅድመ ፍትሕ ወኢትግበር ምንተሂ በዘትትሔመይ ።
I command you in the sight of God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the chosen angels, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.
5:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ Χεῖρας ταχέως μηδενὶ ἐπιτίθει , μηδὲ κοινώνει ἁμαρτίαις ἀλλοτρίαις · σεαυτὸν ἁγνὸν τήρει .
Manus cito nemini imposueris , neque communicaveris peccatis alienis . Teipsum castum custodi .
ወኢትሢም ፍጡነ ወኢመነሂ ወኢትሳተፍ በዝ ውስተ ኀጢአተ ባዕድ ወአንጽሕ እንከ ርእሰከ ።
Lay hands hastily on no one. Don’t be a participant in other people’s sins. Keep yourself pure.
5:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ μηκέτι ὑδροπότει , ἀλλὰ οἴνῳ ὀλίγῳ χρῶ διὰ τὸν στόμαχον καὶ τὰς πυκνάς σου ἀσθενείας .
Noli adhuc aquam bibere , sed modico vino utere propter stomachum tuum , et frequentes tuas infirmitates .
ወኢትስተይ ማየ ዕራቆ ኅዳጠ ወይነ ቶስሕ በእንተ ሕማመ ከብድከ ወበእንተ ደዌከ ዘዘልፍ ።
Be no longer a drinker of water only, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent infirmities.
5:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ τινῶν ἀνθρώπων αἱ ἁμαρτίαι πρόδηλοί εἰσιν , προάγουσαι εἰς κρίσιν , τισὶν δὲ καὶ ἐπακολουθοῦσιν ·
Quorumdam hominum peccata manifesta sunt , praecedentia ad judicium : quosdam autem et subsequuntur .
ቦ ሰብእ ዘይትዐወቆ ኀጢአቱ ወይትባደሮ ውስተ ደይን ወቦ ዘይተልዎ ኀጢአቱ ።
Some men’s sins are evident, preceding them to judgment, and some also follow later.
5:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡσαύτως καὶ τὰ ἔργα τὰ καλὰ πρόδηλα , καὶ τὰ ἄλλως ἔχοντα κρυβῆναι οὐ δύνανται .
Similiter et facta bona , manifesta sunt : et quae aliter se habent , abscondi non possunt .
ወከማሁ ዘሂ ይገብር ሠናየ ይትዐወቅ ወዘሂ ካልእ ምግባሩ ኢይትከበት ።
In the same way also there are good works that are obvious, and those that are otherwise can’t be hidden.
