5:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Περὶ δὲ τῶν χρόνων καὶ τῶν καιρῶν , ἀδελφοί , οὐ χρείαν ἔχετε ὑμῖν γράφεσθαι ·
De temporibus autem , et momentis , fratres , non indigetis ut scribamus vobis .
ወበእንተሰ ዕድሜሁ ወዕለቱ ወጊዜሁ አኀዊነ ኢትፈቅዱ ንጽሐፍ ለክሙ ።
But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.
5:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ αὐτοὶ γὰρ ἀκριβῶς οἴδατε ὅτι ἡμέρα κυρίου ὡς κλέπτης ἐν νυκτὶ οὕτως ἔρχεται .
Ipsi enim diligenter scitis quia dies Domini , sicut fur in nocte , ita veniet :
ለሊክሙ ተአምሩ ጥዩቀ ከመ ዕለተ እግዚእነ ትመጽእ ከመ ምጽአተ ሰራቂ ሌሊተ ከማሁ ይከውን ምጽአቱ ።
For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.
5:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅταν λέγωσιν , εἰρήνη καὶ ἀσφάλεια , τότε αἰφνίδιος αὐτοῖς ἐπίσταται ὄλεθρος ὥσπερ ἡ ὠδὶν τῇ ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσῃ , καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐκφύγωσιν .
cum enim dixerint : Pax et securitas : tunc repentinus eis superveniet interitus , sicut dolor in utero habenti , et non effugient .
አመ ይብሉ እለ ይክሕዱ ኪያሁ ከመ ውስተ ዳኅን ወሰላም እሙንቱ ወህየ ግብተ ይመጽኦሙ ተሠርዎ ከመ ፅንስት እንተ ይመጽኣ ማሕምም ወኢይክሉ አምስጦ ።
For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape.
5:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὑμεῖς δέ , ἀδελφοί , οὐκ ἐστὲ ἐν σκότει , ἵνα ἡ ἡμέρα ὑμᾶς ὡς κλέπτης καταλάβῃ ,
Vos autem , fratres , non estis in tenebris , ut vos dies illa tamquam fur comprehendat :
ወአንትሙሰ አኀዊነ ኢሀለውክሙ ውስተ ጽልመት ከመ ይርከብክሙ ውእቱ ዕለት ከመ ሰራቂ ።
But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief.
5:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ πάντες γὰρ ὑμεῖς υἱοὶ φωτός ἐστε καὶ υἱοὶ ἡμέρας . οὐκ ἐσμὲν νυκτὸς οὐδὲ σκότους ·
omnes enim vos filii lucis estis , et filii diei : non sumus noctis , neque tenebrarum .
እስመ ኵልክሙ ውሉደ ብርሃን አንትሙ ወውሉደ መዓልት ወኢኮንክሙ ውሉደ ሌሊት ወኢውሉደ ጽልመት ።
You are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,
5:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἄρα οὖν μὴ καθεύδωμεν ὡς οἱ λοιποί , ἀλλὰ γρηγορῶμεν καὶ νήφωμεν .
Igitur non dormiamus sicut et ceteri , sed vigilemus , et sobrii simus .
ወኢንኑም እንከ ከመ እልኩ አላ ንንቃህ በኅሊናነ ወንትጋህ ወንጥበብ ።
so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.
5:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ γὰρ καθεύδοντες νυκτὸς καθεύδουσιν , καὶ οἱ μεθυσκόμενοι νυκτὸς μεθύουσιν ·
Qui enim dormiunt , nocte dormiunt : et qui ebrii sunt , nocte ebrii sunt .
እስመ እለ ይነውሙ ሌሊተ ይነውሙ ወእለሂ ይሰክሩ ሌሊተ ይሰክሩ ።
For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunk are drunk in the night.
5:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡμεῖς δὲ ἡμέρας ὄντες νήφωμεν , ἐνδυσάμενοι θώρακα πίστεως καὶ ἀγάπης καὶ περικεφαλαίαν ἐλπίδα σωτηρίας ·
Nos autem , qui diei sumus , sobrii simus , induti loricam fidei et caritatis , et galeam spem salutis :
ወንሕነሰ እንዘ ውሉደ መዓልት ንሕነ ንንቃሕ ወንልበስ ልብሰ ኀጺን ዘሃይማኖት ወዘተፋቅሮ ወንትቀጸል ጌራ ተስፋ መድኀኒት ።
But since we belong to the day, let’s be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
5:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι οὐκ ἔθετο ἡμᾶς ὁ θεὸς εἰς ὀργὴν ἀλλὰ εἰς περιποίησιν σωτηρίας διὰ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ ,
quoniam non posuit nos Deus in iram , sed in acquisitionem salutis per Dominum nostrum Jesum Christum ,
እስመ ኢረሰየነ እግዚአብሔር ለመንሱት ዘእንበለ ለሕይወት ወለመድኀኒት በእግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ፤
For God didn’t appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
5:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦ ἀποθανόντος περὶ ἡμῶν ἵνα εἴτε γρηγορῶμεν εἴτε καθεύδωμεν ἅμα σὺν αὐτῷ ζήσωμεν .
qui mortuus est pro nobis : ut sive vigilemus , sive dormiamus , simul cum illo vivamus .
ዘሞተ ለነ ቤዛነ እመኒ ንቁሃን ንሕነ ወእመኒ ንዉማን ምስሌሁ ነሐዩ ኵልነ ።
who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
5:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ διὸ παρακαλεῖτε ἀλλήλους καὶ οἰκοδομεῖτε εἷς τὸν ἕνα , καθὼς καὶ ποιεῖτε .
Propter quod consolamini invicem , et aedificate alterutrum , sicut et facitis .
ወይእዜኒ አስተፍሥሑ ቢጸክሙ በእንተዝ ወይሕንጽ አሐዱ አሐዱ ካልኦ ዘከመ ትገብሩ ዓዲ ።
Therefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do.
5:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐρωτῶμεν δὲ ὑμᾶς , ἀδελφοί , εἰδέναι τοὺς κοπιῶντας ἐν ὑμῖν καὶ προϊσταμένους ὑμῶν ἐν κυρίῳ καὶ νουθετοῦντας ὑμᾶς ,
Rogamus autem vos , fratres , ut noveritis eos qui laborant inter vos , et praesunt vobis in Domino , et monent vos ,
ወናስተበቍዐክሙ አኀዊነ ዑቅዎሙ ለእለ ይጻምዉ በውስቴትክሙ ወለእለ ይቀውሙ ለክሙ በእንተ እግዚእነ ወይሜህሩክሙ ።
But we beg you, brothers, to know those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,
5:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἡγεῖσθαι αὐτοὺς ὑπερεκπερισσοῦ ἐν ἀγάπῃ διὰ τὸ ἔργον αὐτῶν . εἰρηνεύετε ἐν αὐτοῖς .
ut habeatis illos abundantius in caritate propter opus illorum : pacem habete cum eis .
አክብርዎሙ ፈድፋደ ወአፍቅርዎሙ በእንተ ምግባሮሙ ወተአምኅዎሙ ።
and to respect and honor them in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
5:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ παρακαλοῦμεν δὲ ὑμᾶς , ἀδελφοί , νουθετεῖτε τοὺς ἀτάκτους , παραμυθεῖσθε τοὺς ὀλιγοψύχους , ἀντέχεσθε τῶν ἀσθενῶν , μακροθυμεῖτε πρὸς πάντας .
Rogamus autem vos , fratres , corripite inquietos , consolamini pusillanimes , suscipite infirmos , patientes estote ad omnes .
ወናስተቍዐክሙ አኀዊነ ገሥጽዎሙ ለዝሉፋን ናዝዝዎሙ ለኅዙናን ጹርዎሙ ለድኩማን ወተዐገሡ ላዕለ ኵሉ ።
We exhort you, brothers: Admonish the disorderly; encourage the faint-hearted; support the weak; be patient toward all.
5:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁρᾶτε μή τις κακὸν ἀντὶ κακοῦ τινι ἀποδοῖ , ἀλλὰ πάντοτε τὸ ἀγαθὸν διώκετε εἰς ἀλλήλους καὶ εἰς πάντας .
Videte ne quis malum pro malo alicui reddat : sed semper quod bonum est sectamini in invicem , et in omnes .
ዑቁ ኢትግበሩ እኩየ ህየንተ እኪት አላ ተባደሩ ዘልፈ ለሠናይ በበይናቲክሙ ወለኵሉሂ ።
See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good for one another and for all.
5:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ πάντοτε χαίρετε ,
Semper gaudete .
ተፈሥሑ በኵሉ ጊዜ ወጸልዩ ወትረ ።
Always rejoice.
5:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀδιαλείπτως προσεύχεσθε ,
Sine intermissione orate .
አእኵትዎ ለእግዚአብሔር አብ በእንተ ኵሉ ግብር ።
Pray without ceasing.
5:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐν παντὶ εὐχαριστεῖτε · τοῦτο γὰρ θέλημα θεοῦ ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ εἰς ὑμᾶς .
In omnibus gratias agite : haec est enim voluntas Dei in Christo Jesu in omnibus vobis .
እስመ ዝ ውእቱ ፈቃዱ ለእግዚአብሔር እምውስቴትክሙ በኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ።
In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.
5:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ τὸ πνεῦμα μὴ σβέννυτε ,
Spiritum nolite extinguere .
መንፈሰ ኢታጥፍኡ ።
Don’t quench the Spirit.
5:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ προφητείας μὴ ἐξουθενεῖτε ·
Prophetias nolite spernere .
ወተነብዮ ኢትመንኑ ።
Don’t despise prophecies.
5:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ πάντα δὲ δοκιμάζετε , τὸ καλὸν κατέχετε ,
Omnia autem probate : quod bonum est tenete .
ወኵሎ አመክሩ ወዘሠናይ አጽንዑ ።
Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good.
5:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπὸ παντὸς εἴδους πονηροῦ ἀπέχεσθε .
Ab omni specie mala abstinete vos .
ወተገኀሡ እምኵሉ ምግባር እኩይ ።
Abstain from every form of evil.
5:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ Αὐτὸς δὲ ὁ θεὸς τῆς εἰρήνης ἁγιάσαι ὑμᾶς ὁλοτελεῖς , καὶ ὁλόκληρον ὑμῶν τὸ πνεῦμα καὶ ἡ ψυχὴ καὶ τὸ σῶμα ἀμέμπτως ἐν τῇ παρουσίᾳ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ τηρηθείη .
Ipse autem Deus pacis sanctificet vos per omnia : ut integer spiritus vester , et anima , et corpus sine querela in adventu Domini nostri Jesu Christi servetur .
ወእግዚአብሔር አምላከ ሰላም ይቀድስክሙ ፍጹመ ወያጥዒክሙ ነፍሰክሙ ወመንፈሰክሙ ወሥጋክሙ በንጽሕ እስከ ምጽአተ እግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ።
May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
5:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ πιστὸς ὁ καλῶν ὑμᾶς , ὃς καὶ ποιήσει .
Fidelis est , qui vocavit vos : qui etiam faciet .
ወዘጸውዐክሙ ጻድቅ ውእቱ ይግበር ለክሙ ዘንተ ።
He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it.
5:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἀδελφοί , προσεύχεσθε περὶ ἡμῶν .
Fratres , orate pro nobis .
ኦ አኀዊነ ጸልዩ ለነ ።
Brothers, pray for us.
5:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀσπάσασθε τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς πάντας ἐν φιλήματι ἁγίῳ .
Salutate fratres omnes in osculo sancto .
አምኁ ኵሎ አኀዊነ በአምኃ ቅድሳት ወተአምኁ በበይናቲክሙ ።
Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
5:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐνορκίζω ὑμᾶς τὸν κύριον ἀναγνωσθῆναι τὴν ἐπιστολὴν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς .
Adjuro vos per Dominum ut legatur epistola haec omnibus sanctis fratribus .
አምሕለክሙ በእግዚእነ ታንብብዋ ለዛቲ መጽሐፍ ላዕለ ኵሎሙ አኀዊነ ቅዱሳን ።
I solemnly command you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the holy brothers.
5:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἡ χάρις τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ μεθ’ ὑμῶν .
Gratia Domini nostri Jesu Christi vobiscum . Amen .
ጸጋሁ ለእግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ምስሌክሙ ፤ አሜን ። ተፈጸመ መልእክት ቀዳማዊ ኀበ ሰብአ ተሰሎንቄ ወተጽሕፈ በአቴና ወተፈነወ ምስለ ጢሞቴዎስ ወስልዋኖስ ። ወስብሐት ለእግዚአብሔር አሜን ።
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
