14:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔יא חָלָ֖ה אֲבִיָּ֥ה בֶן ־יָרׇבְעָֽם ׃
— In tempore illo aegrotavit Abia filius Jeroboam .
— At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick.
14:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יָרׇבְעָ֜ם לְאִשְׁתּ֗וֹ ק֤וּמִי נָא֙ וְהִשְׁתַּנִּ֔ית וְלֹ֣א יֵֽדְע֔וּ כִּי ־[אַ֖תְּ ] (אתי ) אֵ֣שֶׁת יָרׇבְעָ֑ם וְהָלַ֣כְתְּ שִׁלֹ֗ה הִנֵּה ־שָׁם֙ אֲחִיָּ֣ה הַנָּבִ֔יא הוּא ־דִבֶּ֥ר עָלַ֛י לְמֶ֖לֶךְ עַל ־הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּֽה ׃
— Dixitque Jeroboam uxori suae : Surge , et commuta habitum , ne cognoscaris quod sis uxor Jeroboam , et vade in Silo , ubi est Ahias propheta , qui locutus est mihi quod regnaturus essem super populum hunc .
— Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please get up and disguise yourself, so that you won’t be recognized as Jeroboam’s wife. Go to Shiloh. Behold, Ahijah the prophet is there, who said that I would be king over this people.
14:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְלָקַ֣חַתְּ בְּ֠יָדֵ֠ךְ עֲשָׂרָ֨ה לֶ֧חֶם וְנִקֻּדִ֛ים וּבַקְבֻּ֥ק דְּבַ֖שׁ וּבָ֣את אֵלָ֑יו ה֚וּא יַגִּ֣יד לָ֔ךְ מַה ־יִּֽהְיֶ֖ה לַנָּֽעַר ׃
— Tolle quoque in manu tua decem panes , et crustulam , et vas mellis , et vade ad illum : ipse enim indicabit tibi quid eventurum sit puero huic .
— Take with you ten loaves of bread, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will become of the child.”
14:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתַּ֤עַשׂ כֵּן֙ אֵ֣שֶׁת יָרׇבְעָ֔ם וַתָּ֙קׇם֙ וַתֵּ֣לֶךְ שִׁלֹ֔ה וַתָּבֹ֖א בֵּ֣ית אֲחִיָּ֑ה וַאֲחִיָּ֙הוּ֙ לֹא ־יָכֹ֣ל לִרְא֔וֹת כִּ֛י קָ֥מוּ עֵינָ֖יו מִשֵּׂיבֽוֹ ׃ {פ}
— Fecit ut dixerat , uxor Jeroboam : et consurgens abiit in Silo , et venit in domum Ahiae : at ille non poterat videre , quia caligaverant oculi ejus prae senectute .
— Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to Ahijah’s house. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.
14:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיהֹוָ֞ה אָמַ֣ר אֶל ־אֲחִיָּ֗הוּ הִנֵּ֣ה אֵ֣שֶׁת יָרׇבְעָ֡ם בָּאָ֣ה לִדְרֹשׁ֩ דָּבָ֨ר מֵעִמְּךָ֤ אֶל ־בְּנָהּ֙ כִּֽי ־חֹלֶ֣ה ה֔וּא כָּזֹ֥ה וְכָזֶ֖ה תְּדַבֵּ֣ר אֵלֶ֑יהָ וִיהִ֣י כְבֹאָ֔הּ וְהִ֖יא מִתְנַכֵּרָֽה ׃
— Dixit autem Dominus ad Ahiam : Ecce uxor Jeroboam ingreditur ut consulat te super filio suo qui aegrotat : haec et haec loqueris ei . Cum ergo illa intraret , et dissimularet se esse quae erat ,
— Yahweh said to Ahijah, “Behold, Jeroboam’s wife is coming to inquire of you concerning her son, for he is sick. Tell her such and such; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”
14:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִי֩ כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ אֲחִיָּ֜הוּ אֶת ־ק֤וֹל רַגְלֶ֙יהָ֙ בָּאָ֣ה בַפֶּ֔תַח וַיֹּ֕אמֶר בֹּ֖אִי אֵ֣שֶׁת יָרׇבְעָ֑ם לָ֣מָּה זֶּ֗ה אַ֚תְּ מִתְנַכֵּרָ֔ה וְאָ֣נֹכִ֔י שָׁל֥וּחַ אֵלַ֖יִךְ קָשָֽׁה ׃
— audivit Ahias sonitum pedum ejus introëuntis per ostium , et ait : Ingredere , uxor Jeroboam : quare aliam te esse simulas ? ego autem missus sum ad te durus nuntius .
— So when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, he said, “Come in, Jeroboam’s wife! Why do you pretend to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy news.
14:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ לְכִ֞י אִמְרִ֣י לְיָרׇבְעָ֗ם כֹּֽה ־אָמַ֤ר יְהֹוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל יַ֛עַן אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֲרִמֹתִ֖יךָ מִתּ֣וֹךְ הָעָ֑ם וָאֶתֶּנְךָ֣ נָגִ֔יד עַ֖ל עַמִּ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
— Vade , et dic Jeroboam : Haec dicit Dominus Deus Israël : Quia exaltavi te de medio populi , et dedi te ducem super populum meum Israël ,
— Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,
14:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֶקְרַ֤ע אֶת ־הַמַּמְלָכָה֙ מִבֵּ֣ית דָּוִ֔ד וָאֶתְּנֶ֖הָ לָ֑ךְ וְלֹֽא ־הָיִ֜יתָ כְּעַבְדִּ֣י דָוִ֗ד אֲשֶׁר֩ שָׁמַ֨ר מִצְוֺתַ֜י וַֽאֲשֶׁר ־הָלַ֤ךְ אַֽחֲרַי֙ בְּכׇל ־לְבָב֔וֹ לַעֲשׂ֕וֹת רַ֖ק הַיָּשָׁ֥ר בְּעֵינָֽי ׃
— et scidi regnum domus David , et dedi illud tibi , et non fuisti sicut servus meus David , qui custodivit mandata mea , et secutus est me in toto corde suo , faciens quod placitum esset in conspectu meo :
— and tore the kingdom away from David’s house, and gave it to you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes,
14:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתָּ֣רַע לַעֲשׂ֔וֹת מִכֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁר ־הָי֣וּ לְפָנֶ֑יךָ וַתֵּ֡לֶךְ וַתַּֽעֲשֶׂה ־לְּךָ֩ אֱלֹהִ֨ים אֲחֵרִ֤ים וּמַסֵּכוֹת֙ לְהַכְעִיסֵ֔נִי וְאֹתִ֥י הִשְׁלַ֖כְתָּ אַחֲרֵ֥י גַוֶּֽךָ ׃
— sed operatus es mala super omnes qui fuerunt ante te , et fecisti tibi deos alienos et conflatiles , ut me ad iracundiam provocares , me autem projecisti post corpus tuum :
— but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made for yourself other gods, molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back,
14:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ לָכֵ֗ן הִנְנִ֨י מֵבִ֤יא רָעָה֙ אֶל ־בֵּ֣ית יָרׇבְעָ֔ם וְהִכְרַתִּ֤י לְיָֽרׇבְעָם֙ מַשְׁתִּ֣ין בְּקִ֔יר עָצ֥וּר וְעָז֖וּב בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וּבִֽעַרְתִּי֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י בֵית ־יָרׇבְעָ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר יְבַעֵ֥ר הַגָּלָ֖ל עַד ־תֻּמּֽוֹ ׃
— idcirco ecce ego inducam mala super domum Jeroboam , et percutiam de Jeroboam mingentem ad parietem , et clausum , et novissimum in Israël : et mundabo reliquias domus Jeroboam , sicut mundari solet fimus usque ad purum .
— therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall, he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung until it is all gone.
14:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ הַמֵּ֨ת לְיָרׇבְעָ֤ם בָּעִיר֙ יֹאכְל֣וּ הַכְּלָבִ֔ים וְהַמֵּת֙ בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה יֹאכְל֖וּ ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם כִּ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר ׃
— Qui mortui fuerint de Jeroboam in civitate , comedent eos canes : qui autem mortui fuerint in agro , vorabunt eos aves caeli : quia Dominus locutus est .
— The dogs will eat whoever belongs to Jeroboam who dies in the city; and the birds of the sky will eat whoever dies in the field, for Yahweh has spoken it.”’
14:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַ֥תְּ ק֖וּמִי לְכִ֣י לְבֵיתֵ֑ךְ בְּבֹאָ֥הֿ רַגְלַ֛יִךְ הָעִ֖ירָה וּמֵ֥ת הַיָּֽלֶד ׃
— Tu igitur surge , et vade in domum tuam : et in ipso introitu pedum tuorum in urbem , morietur puer ,
— Arise therefore, and go to your house. When your feet enter into the city, the child will die.
14:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְסָֽפְדוּ ־ל֤וֹ כׇל ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וְקָבְר֣וּ אֹת֔וֹ כִּי ־זֶ֣ה לְבַדּ֔וֹ יָבֹ֥א לְיָרׇבְעָ֖ם אֶל ־קָ֑בֶר יַ֣עַן נִמְצָא ־ב֞וֹ דָּבָ֣ר ט֗וֹב אֶל ־יְהֹוָ֛ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּבֵ֥ית יָרׇבְעָֽם ׃
— et planget eum omnis Israël , et sepeliet : iste enim solus inferetur de Jeroboam in sepulchrum , quia inventus est super eo sermo bonus a Domino Deo Israël in domo Jeroboam .
— All Israel will mourn for him and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam will come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.
14:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהֵקִים֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה ל֥וֹ מֶ֙לֶךְ֙ עַל ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר יַכְרִ֛ית אֶת ־בֵּ֥ית יָרׇבְעָ֖ם זֶ֣ה הַיּ֑וֹם וּמֶ֖ה גַּם ־עָֽתָּה ׃
— Constituet autem sibi Dominus regem super Israël , qui percutiet domum Jeroboam in hac die , et in hoc tempore :
— Moreover Yahweh will raise up a king for himself over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is the day! What? Even now.
14:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהִכָּ֨ה יְהֹוָ֜ה אֶת ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר יָנ֣וּד הַקָּנֶה֮ בַּמַּ֒יִם֒ וְנָתַ֣שׁ אֶת ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מֵ֠עַ֠ל הָאֲדָמָ֨ה הַטּוֹבָ֤ה הַזֹּאת֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָתַן֙ לַאֲב֣וֹתֵיהֶ֔ם וְזֵרָ֖ם מֵעֵ֣בֶר לַנָּהָ֑ר יַ֗עַן אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשׂוּ֙ אֶת ־אֲשֵׁ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם מַכְעִיסִ֖ים אֶת ־יְהֹוָֽה ׃
— et percutiet Dominus Deus Israël , sicut moveri solet arundo in aqua : et evellet Israël de terra bona hac , quam dedit patribus eorum , et ventilabit eos trans flumen : quia fecerunt sibi lucos , ut irritarent Dominum .
— For Yahweh will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherah poles, provoking Yahweh to anger.
14:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְיִתֵּ֖ן אֶת ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל בִּגְלַ֞ל חַטֹּ֤אות יָֽרׇבְעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָטָ֔א וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר הֶחֱטִ֖יא אֶת ־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
— Et tradet Dominus Israël propter peccata Jeroboam , qui peccavit , et peccare fecit Israël .
— He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin.”
14:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתָּ֙קׇם֙ אֵ֣שֶׁת יָרׇבְעָ֔ם וַתֵּ֖לֶךְ וַתָּבֹ֣א תִרְצָ֑תָה הִ֛יא בָּאָ֥ה בְסַף ־הַבַּ֖יִת וְהַנַּ֥עַר מֵֽת ׃
— Surrexit itaque uxor Jeroboam , et abiit , et venit in Thersa : cumque illa ingrederetur limen domus , puer mortuus est ,
— Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.
14:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּקְבְּר֥וּ אֹת֛וֹ וַיִּסְפְּדוּ ־ל֖וֹ כׇּל ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כִּדְבַ֤ר יְהֹוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֔ר בְּיַד ־עַבְדּ֖וֹ אֲחִיָּ֥הוּ הַנָּבִֽיא ׃
— et sepelierunt eum . Et planxit eum omnis Israël juxta sermonem Domini , quem locutus est in manu servi sui Ahiae prophetae .
— All Israel buried him and mourned for him, according to Yahweh’s word, which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the prophet.
14:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְיֶ֙תֶר֙ דִּבְרֵ֣י יָרׇבְעָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִלְחַ֖ם וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר מָלָ֑ךְ הִנָּ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל ־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
— Reliqua autem verborum Jeroboam , quomodo pugnaverit , et quomodo regnaverit , ecce scripta sunt in libro verborum dierum regum Israël .
— The rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he fought and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
14:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהַיָּמִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר מָלַ֣ךְ יָרׇבְעָ֔ם עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וּשְׁתַּ֖יִם שָׁנָ֑ה וַיִּשְׁכַּב֙ עִם ־אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ נָדָ֥ב בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו ׃ {פ}
— Dies autem quibus regnavit Jeroboam , viginti duo anni sunt : et dormivit cum patribus suis , regnavitque Nadab filius ejus pro eo .
— The days which Jeroboam reigned were twenty two years; then he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his place.
14:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּרְחַבְעָם֙ בֶּן ־שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה מָלַ֖ךְ בִּיהוּדָ֑ה בֶּן ־אַרְבָּעִ֣ים וְאַחַ֣ת שָׁנָה֩ רְחַבְעָ֨ם בְּמׇלְכ֜וֹ וּֽשְׁבַ֨ע עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה שָׁנָ֣ה ׀ מָלַ֣ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלַ֗͏ִם הָ֠עִ֠יר אֲשֶׁר ־בָּחַ֨ר יְהֹוָ֜ה לָשׂ֨וּם אֶת ־שְׁמ֥וֹ שָׁם֙ מִכֹּל֙ שִׁבְטֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ נַעֲמָ֖ה הָעַמֹּנִֽית ׃
καὶ Ροβοαμ υἱὸς Σαλωμων ἐβασίλευσεν ἐπὶ Ιουδα υἱὸς τεσσαράκοντα καὶ ἑνὸς ἐνιαυτῶν Ροβοαμ ἐν τῷ βασιλεύειν αὐτὸν καὶ δέκα ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ τῇ πόλει ἣν ἐξελέξατο κύριος θέσθαι τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ἐκεῖ ἐκ πασῶν φυλῶν τοῦ Ισραηλ καὶ τὸ ὄνομα τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ Νααμα ἡ Αμμανῖτις
Porro Roboam filius Salomonis regnavit in Juda . Quadraginta et unius anni erat Roboam cum regnare coepisset : decem et septem annos regnavit in Jerusalem civitate , quam elegit Dominus ut poneret nomen suum ibi , ex omnibus tribubus Israël . Nomen autem matris ejus Naama Ammanitis .
ወነግሠ ፡ ሮብዓም ፡ ወልደ ፡ ሰሎሞን ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ወአመ ፡ ይነግሥ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ፵ዓም ፡ ወ፩ውእቱ ፡ ወ፲ወ፯ዓመተ ፡ ነግሠ ፡ በኢየሩሳሌም ፡ በሀገር ፡ እንተ ፡ ኀርየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ያቅም ፡ ስሞ ፡ በህየ ፡ እምነ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወስማ ፡ ለእሙ ፡ ናሐኖን ፡ ዐሞናዊት ።
Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.
14:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֧עַשׂ יְהוּדָ֛ה הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיְקַנְא֣וּ אֹת֗וֹ מִכֹּל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשׂ֣וּ אֲבֹתָ֔ם בְּחַטֹּאתָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר חָטָֽאוּ ׃
καὶ ἐποίησεν Ροβοαμ τὸ πονηρὸν ἐνώπιον κυρίου καὶ παρεζήλωσεν αὐτὸν ἐν πᾶσιν οἷς ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις αὐτῶν αἷς ἥμαρτον
Et fecit Judas malum coram Domino , et irritaverunt eum super omnibus quae fecerant patres eorum in peccatis suis quae peccaverunt .
ወገብረ ፡ ሮብዓም ፡ እኩየ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወኣቅንአ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ ዘገብሩ ፡ አበዊሁ ፡ ወበአበሳሆሙ ፡ ዘአበሱ ።
Judah did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.
14:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּבְנ֨וּ גַם ־הֵ֧מָּה לָהֶ֛ם בָּמ֥וֹת וּמַצֵּב֖וֹת וַאֲשֵׁרִ֑ים עַ֚ל כׇּל ־גִּבְעָ֣ה גְבֹהָ֔ה וְתַ֖חַת כׇּל ־עֵ֥ץ רַעֲנָֽן ׃
καὶ ᾠκοδόμησαν ἑαυτοῖς ὑψηλὰ καὶ στήλας καὶ ἄλση ἐπὶ πάντα βουνὸν ὑψηλὸν καὶ ὑποκάτω παντὸς ξύλου συσκίου
Aedificaverunt enim et ipsi sibi aras , et statuas , et lucos super omnem collem excelsum , et subter omnem arborem frondosam :
ወሐነጹ ፡ አብያተ ፡ አማልክት ፡ ወአቀመ ፡ ምስሌሆሙ ፡ ሐውልተ ፡ ምሕራማቲሆሙ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ አውግር ፡ ልዑላት ፡ ወታሕተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዖም ፡ ጽፉቅ ፡ ዘቦ ፡ ጽላሎተ ።
For they also built for themselves high places, sacred pillars, and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.
14:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְגַם ־קָדֵ֖שׁ הָיָ֣ה בָאָ֑רֶץ עָשׂ֗וּ כְּכֹל֙ הַתּוֹעֲבֹ֣ת הַגּוֹיִ֔ם אֲשֶׁר֙ הוֹרִ֣ישׁ יְהֹוָ֔ה מִפְּנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃ {פ}
καὶ σύνδεσμος ἐγενήθη ἐν τῇ γῇ καὶ ἐποίησαν ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν βδελυγμάτων τῶν ἐθνῶν ὧν ἐξῆρεν κύριος ἀπὸ προσώπου υἱῶν Ισραηλ
sed et effeminati fuerunt in terra , feceruntque omnes abominationes gentium quas attrivit Dominus ante faciem filiorum Israël .
ወአኅበረ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወገብሩ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ ርኵሶሙ ፡ ለአሕዛብ ፡ ዘአሰሰለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጾሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ።
There were also sodomites in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which Yahweh drove out before the children of Israel.
14:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֛י בַּשָּׁנָ֥ה הַחֲמִישִׁ֖ית לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ רְחַבְעָ֑ם עָלָ֛ה (שושק ) [שִׁישַׁ֥ק ] מֶלֶךְ ־מִצְרַ֖יִם עַל ־יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ τῷ πέμπτῳ βασιλεύοντος Ροβοαμ ἀνέβη Σουσακιμ βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ
In quinto autem anno regni Roboam , ascendit Sesac rex Aegypti in Jerusalem ,
ወእምዝ ፡ አመ ፡ ኃምስ ፡ ዓመት ፡ እምዘ ፡ ነግሠ ፡ ሮብዓም ፡ ዐርገ ፡ ሱስቀም ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም ።
In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem;
14:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּקַּ֞ח אֶת ־אֹצְר֣וֹת בֵּית ־יְהֹוָ֗ה וְאֶת ־אֽוֹצְרוֹת֙ בֵּ֣ית הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְאֶת ־הַכֹּ֖ל לָקָ֑ח וַיִּקַּח֙ אֶת ־כׇּל ־מָגִנֵּ֣י הַזָּהָ֔ב אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה שְׁלֹמֹֽה ׃
καὶ ἔλαβεν πάντας τοὺς θησαυροὺς οἴκου κυρίου καὶ τοὺς θησαυροὺς οἴκου τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ τὰ δόρατα τὰ χρυσᾶ ἃ ἔλαβεν Δαυιδ ἐκ χειρὸς τῶν παίδων Αδρααζαρ βασιλέως Σουβα καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν αὐτὰ εἰς Ιερουσαλημ τὰ πάντα ἔλαβεν ὅπλα τὰ χρυσᾶ
et tulit thesauros domus Domini , et thesauros regios , et universa diripuit : scuta quoque aurea , quae fecerat Salomon :
ወነሥአ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ መዛግብተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወመዛግብተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወኲናታተ ፡ ዘወርቅ ፡ ዘሰለበ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ እምላዕለ ፡ ደቀ ፡ አድርዐዛር ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ሱባ ፡ ወአእተወ ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘሰለበ ፤ ወላትወኒ ፡ ዘወርቅ ፡ ወወሰደ ፡ ብሔረ ፡ ግብጽ ።
and he took away the treasures of Yahweh’s house and the treasures of the king’s house. He even took away all of it, including all the gold shields which Solomon had made.
14:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֨עַשׂ הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ רְחַבְעָם֙ תַּחְתָּ֔ם מָגִנֵּ֖י נְחֹ֑שֶׁת וְהִפְקִ֗יד עַל ־יַד֙ שָׂרֵ֣י הָרָצִ֔ים הַשֹּׁ֣מְרִ֔ים פֶּ֖תַח בֵּ֥ית הַמֶּֽלֶךְ ׃
καὶ ἐποίησεν Ροβοαμ ὁ βασιλεὺς ὅπλα χαλκᾶ ἀντ’ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπέθεντο ἐπ’ αὐτὸν οἱ ἡγούμενοι τῶν παρατρεχόντων οἱ φυλάσσοντες τὸν πυλῶνα οἴκου τοῦ βασιλέως
pro quibus fecit rex Roboam scuta aerea , et tradidit ea in manum ducum scutariorum , et eorum qui excubabant ante ostium domus regis .
ወገብረ ፡ ሮብዓም ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወላትወ ፡ ዘብርት ፡ ህየንቴሆሙ ፡ ወአወፈዮን ፡ ለመላእክቲሆሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ይረውጹ ፡ ቅድሜሁ ፡ ወእለ ፡ የዐቅቡ ፡ ዴዴ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ንጉሥ ።
King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who guarded the door of the king’s house.
14:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְהִ֛י מִדֵּי ־בֹ֥א הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ בֵּ֣ית יְהֹוָ֑ה יִשָּׂאוּם֙ הָרָצִ֔ים וֶהֱשִׁיב֖וּם אֶל ־תָּ֥א הָרָצִֽים ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε εἰσεπορεύετο ὁ βασιλεὺς εἰς οἶκον κυρίου καὶ ᾖρον αὐτὰ οἱ παρατρέχοντες καὶ ἀπηρείδοντο αὐτὰ εἰς τὸ θεε τῶν παρατρεχόντων
Cumque ingrederetur rex in domum Domini , portabant ea qui praeeundi habebant officium : et postea reportabant ad armamentarium scutariorum .
ወእምዝ ፡ ሶበ ፡ የሐውር ፡ ቤተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ይጸውርዎን ፡ እለ ፡ የሐውሩ ፡ ቅድሜሁ ፡ ወይጸንሕዎ ፡ እስከ ፡ ይወፅእ ፡ በምቅዋሞሙ ።
It was so, that as often as the king went into Yahweh’s house, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.
14:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְיֶ֛תֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י רְחַבְעָ֖ם וְכׇל ־אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה הֲלֹא ־הֵ֣מָּה כְתוּבִ֗ים עַל ־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה ׃
καὶ τὰ λοιπὰ τῶν λόγων Ροβοαμ καὶ πάντα ἃ ἐποίησεν οὐκ ἰδοὺ ταῦτα γεγραμμένα ἐν βιβλίῳ λόγων τῶν ἡμερῶν τοῖς βασιλεῦσιν Ιουδα
Reliqua autem sermonum Roboam , et omnia quae fecit , ecce scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Juda .
ወዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ነገሩ ፡ ለሮብዓም ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ግብሩ ፡ ዘገብረ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘጽሑፍ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መጽሐፈ ፡ ነዚያት ፡ ወዓመተ ፡ መንግሥቱ ፡ በይሁዳ ።
Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
14:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּמִלְחָמָ֨ה הָיְתָ֧ה בֵין ־רְחַבְעָ֛ם וּבֵ֥ין יָרׇבְעָ֖ם כׇּל ־הַיָּמִֽים ׃
καὶ πόλεμος ἦν ἀνὰ μέσον Ροβοαμ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Ιεροβοαμ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας
Fuitque bellum inter Roboam et Jeroboam cunctis diebus .
ወኵሉ ፡ ንብረቶሙ ፡ በቀትል ፡ በኵሉ ፡ መዋዕሊሆሙ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ሮብዓም ፡ ወማእከለ ፡ ኢዮራብዓም ።
There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
14:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּשְׁכַּ֨ב רְחַבְעָ֜ם עִם ־אֲבֹתָ֗יו וַיִּקָּבֵ֤ר עִם ־אֲבֹתָיו֙ בְּעִ֣יר דָּוִ֔ד וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ נַעֲמָ֖ה הָעַמֹּנִ֑ית וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אֲבִיָּ֥ם בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐκοιμήθη Ροβοαμ μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ καὶ θάπτεται μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ ἐν πόλει Δαυιδ καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Αβιου υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἀντ’ αὐτοῦ
Dormivitque Roboam cum patribus suis , et sepultus est cum eis in civitate David : nomen autem matris ejus Naama Ammanitis : et regnavit Abiam filius ejus pro eo .
ወሰከበ ፡ ሮብዓም ፡ ምስለ ፡ አበዊሁ ፡ ወተቀብረ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሀገረ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ወነግሠ ፡ አብያ ፡ ወልዱ ፡ ህየንቴሁ ።
Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in David’s city. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess. Abijam his son reigned in his place.
