13:1
וְהִנֵּ֣ה׀ אִ֣ישׁ אֱלֹהִ֗ים בָּ֧א מִיהוּדָ֛ה בִּדְבַ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־בֵּֽית־אֵ֑ל וְיָרׇבְעָ֛ם עֹמֵ֥ד עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ לְהַקְטִֽיר׃
καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ ἐξ Ιουδα παρεγένετο ἐν λόγῳ κυρίου εἰς Βαιθηλ καὶ Ιεροβοαμ εἱστήκει ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον τοῦ ἐπιθῦσαι
Et ecce vir Dei venit de Juda in sermone Domini in Bethel, Jeroboam stante super altare, et thus jaciente.
ወናሁ፡ ብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ መጽአ፡ እምነ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤቴል፡ በቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወኢዮርብዓምሰ፡ ይቀውም፡ ውስተ፡ ምሥዋዕ፡ ከመ፡ ይሡዕ።
Behold, a man of God came out of Judah by Yahweh’s word to Bethel; and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.
13:2
וַיִּקְרָ֤א עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ בִּדְבַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ מִזְבֵּ֣חַ מִזְבֵּ֔חַ כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֑ה הִנֵּה־בֵ֞ן נוֹלָ֤ד לְבֵית־דָּוִד֙ יֹאשִׁיָּ֣הֽוּ שְׁמ֔וֹ וְזָבַ֣ח עָלֶ֗יךָ אֶת־כֹּהֲנֵ֤י הַבָּמוֹת֙ הַמַּקְטִרִ֣ים עָלֶ֔יךָ וְעַצְמ֥וֹת אָדָ֖ם יִשְׂרְפ֥וּ עָלֶֽיךָ׃
καὶ ἐπεκάλεσεν πρὸς τὸ θυσιαστήριον ἐν λόγῳ κυρίου καὶ εἶπεν θυσιαστήριον θυσιαστήριον τάδε λέγει κύριος ἰδοὺ υἱὸς τίκτεται τῷ οἴκῳ Δαυιδ Ιωσιας ὄνομα αὐτῷ καὶ θύσει ἐπὶ σὲ τοὺς ἱερεῖς τῶν ὑψηλῶν τοὺς ἐπιθύοντας ἐπὶ σὲ καὶ ὀστᾶ ἀνθρώπων καύσει ἐπὶ σέ
Et exclamavit contra altare in sermone Domini, et ait : Altare, altare, haec dicit Dominus : Ecce filius nascetur domui David, Josias nomine, et immolabit super te sacerdotes excelsorum, qui nunc in te thura succendunt : et ossa hominum super te incendet.
ወጸውዖ፡ ለውእቱ፡ ምሥዋዕ፡ ብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወይቤ፡ ምሥዋዕ፡ ምሥዋዕሰ፡ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ናሁ፡ ወልድ፡ ይትወለድ፡ ለቤተ፡ ዳዊት፡ ኢዮስያስ፡ ስሙ፡ ወይሠውዕ፡ ላዕሌከ፡ ገነውተ፡ አማልክት፡ እለ፡ ሦዑ፡ በዲቤከ፡ ወአዕጽምተ፡ እጓለ፡ እመሕያው፡ ያውዒ፡ ወያነድድ፡ ላዕሌከ።
He cried against the altar by Yahweh’s word, and said, “Altar! Altar! Yahweh says: ‘Behold, a son will be born to David’s house, Josiah by name. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn men’s bones on you.’”
13:3
וְנָתַן֩ בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֤וּא מוֹפֵת֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר זֶ֣ה הַמּוֹפֵ֔ת אֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּבֶּ֣ר יְהֹוָ֑ה הִנֵּ֤ה הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ נִקְרָ֔ע וְנִשְׁפַּ֖ךְ הַדֶּ֥שֶׁן אֲשֶׁר־עָלָֽיו׃
καὶ ἔδωκεν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ τέρας λέγων τοῦτο τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ ἐλάλησεν κύριος λέγων ἰδοὺ τὸ θυσιαστήριον ῥήγνυται καὶ ἐκχυθήσεται ἡ πιότης ἡ ἐπ’ αὐτῷ
Deditque in illa die signum, dicens : Hoc erit signum quod locutus est Dominus : ecce altare scindetur, et effundetur cinis qui in eo est.
ወይከውን፡ ይእተ፡ አሚረ፡ ተኣምር ፤ ዝንቱ፡ ቃል፡ ዘይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፤ ዝንቱ፡ ምሥዋዕ፡ ለይንቃዕ፡ ወይትከዐው፡ ዘውስቴቱ፡ ጽንሓሒሁ።
He gave a sign the same day, saying, “This is the sign which Yahweh has spoken: Behold, the altar will be split apart, and the ashes that are on it will be poured out.”
13:4
וַיְהִי֩ כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶת־דְּבַ֣ר אִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר קָרָ֤א עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ בְּבֵֽית־אֵ֔ל וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח יָרׇבְעָ֧ם אֶת־יָד֛וֹ מֵעַ֥ל הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ לֵאמֹ֣ר׀תִּפְשֻׂ֑הוּ וַתִּיבַ֤שׁ יָדוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁלַ֣ח עָלָ֔יו וְלֹ֥א יָכֹ֖ל לַהֲשִׁיבָ֥הּ אֵלָֽיו׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ιεροβοαμ τῶν λόγων τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ἐπικαλεσαμένου ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον τὸ ἐν Βαιθηλ καὶ ἐξέτεινεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου λέγων συλλάβετε αὐτόν καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐξηράνθη ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ ἣν ἐξέτεινεν ἐπ’ αὐτόν καὶ οὐκ ἠδυνήθη ἐπιστρέψαι αὐτὴν πρὸς ἑαυτόν
Cumque audisset rex sermonem hominis Dei quem inclamaverat contra altare in Bethel, extendit manum suam de altari, dicens : Apprehendite eum. Et exaruit manus ejus quam extenderat contra eum, nec valuit retrahere eam ad se.
ወእምዝ፡ ሶበ፡ ሰምዐ፡ ኢዮርብዓም፡ ቃሎ፡ ለብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘነበበ፡ በዲበ፡ ምሥዋዕ፡ ዘውስተ፡ ቤቴል፡ አንሥአ፡ እዴሁ፡ ንጉሥ፡ በዲበ፡ ምሥዋዕ፡ ወይቤ፡ አኀዝዎ፡ ወእምዝ፡ የብሰት፡ እዴሁ፡ እንተ፡ አንሥአ፡ ላዕሌሁ፡ ወስእነ፡ አግብኦታ፡ ኀቤሁ።
When the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Bethel, Jeroboam put out his hand from the altar, saying, “Seize him!” His hand, which he put out against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to himself.
13:5
וְהַמִּזְבֵּ֣חַ נִקְרָ֔ע וַיִּשָּׁפֵ֥ךְ הַדֶּ֖שֶׁן מִן־הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ כַּמּוֹפֵ֗ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֛ן אִ֥ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים בִּדְבַ֥ר יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον ἐρράγη καὶ ἐξεχύθη ἡ πιότης ἀπὸ τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου κατὰ τὸ τέρας ὃ ἔδωκεν ὁ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν λόγῳ κυρίου
Altare quoque scissum est, et effusus est cinis de altari, juxta signum quod praedixerat vir Dei in sermone Domini.
ወነቅዐ፡ ውእቱ፡ ምሥዋዕ፡ ወተክዕወ፡ ዘውስቴቱ፡ ጽንሓሒሁ፡ በከመ፡ ተኣምር፡ ዘገብረ፡ ውእቱ፡ ብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
The altar was also split apart, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by Yahweh’s word.
13:6
וַיַּ֨עַן הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ אֶל־אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים חַל־נָ֞א אֶת־פְּנֵ֨י יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ וְהִתְפַּלֵּ֣ל בַּעֲדִ֔י וְתָשֹׁ֥ב יָדִ֖י אֵלָ֑י וַיְחַ֤ל אִישׁ־הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־פְּנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה וַתָּ֤שׇׁב יַד־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ אֵלָ֔יו וַתְּהִ֖י כְּבָרִאשֹׁנָֽה׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ιεροβοαμ τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τοῦ θεοῦ δεήθητι τοῦ προσώπου κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου καὶ ἐπιστρεψάτω ἡ χείρ μου πρός με καὶ ἐδεήθη ὁ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ προσώπου κυρίου καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν τὴν χεῖρα τοῦ βασιλέως πρὸς αὐτόν καὶ ἐγένετο καθὼς τὸ πρότερον
Et ait rex ad virum Dei : Deprecare faciem Domini Dei tui, et ora pro me, ut restituatur manus mea mihi. Oravitque vir Dei faciem Domini, et reversa est manus regis ad eum, et facta est sicut prius fuerat.
ወይቤሎ፡ ኢዮርብዓም፡ ለብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ሰአል፡ ሊተ፡ ቅድመ፡ ገጹ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክከ፡ ወትግባእ፡ እዴየ፡ ላዕሌየ፡ ወሰአለ፡ ሎቱ፡ ብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወገብአት፡ እዴሁ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ ወኮነት፡ ከመ፡ ቀዳሚ።
The king answered the man of God, “Now intercede for the favor of Yahweh your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me.” The man of God interceded with Yahweh, and the king’s hand was restored to him, and became as it was before.
13:7
וַיְדַבֵּ֤ר הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ אֶל־אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים בֹּֽאָה־אִתִּ֥י הַבַּ֖יְתָה וּֽסְעָ֑דָה וְאֶתְּנָ֥ה לְךָ֖ מַתָּֽת׃
καὶ ἐλάλησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς πρὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον τοῦ θεοῦ εἴσελθε μετ’ ἐμοῦ εἰς οἶκον καὶ ἀρίστησον καὶ δώσω σοι δόμα
Locutus est autem rex ad virum Dei : Veni mecum domum ut prandeas, et dabo tibi munera.
ወይቤሎ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ለብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ባእ፡ ምስሌየ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤትየ፡ ወምሳሕ፡ ምስሌየ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤትየ።
The king said to the man of God, “Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward.”
13:8
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אִישׁ־הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אִם־תִּתֶּן־לִי֙ אֶת־חֲצִ֣י בֵיתֶ֔ךָ לֹ֥א אָבֹ֖א עִמָּ֑ךְ וְלֹא־אֹ֤כַל לֶ֙חֶם֙ וְלֹ֣א אֶשְׁתֶּה־מַּ֔יִם בַּמָּק֖וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα ἐάν μοι δῷς τὸ ἥμισυ τοῦ οἴκου σου οὐκ εἰσελεύσομαι μετὰ σοῦ οὐδὲ μὴ φάγω ἄρτον οὐδὲ μὴ πίω ὕδωρ ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ
Responditque vir Dei ad regem : Si dederis mihi mediam partem domus tuae, non veniam tecum, nec comedam panem, neque bibam aquam in loco isto :
ወይቤሎ፡ ብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለንጉሥ፡ እመ፡ ሠሀብከኒ፡ መንፈቀ፡ ቤትከ፡ ኢይበውእ፡ ምስሌከ፡ ወኢይበልዕ፡ እክለ፡ ወኢይሰቲ፡ ማየ፡ በዝንቱ፡ መካን።
The man of God said to the king, “Even if you gave me half of your house, I would not go in with you, neither would I eat bread nor drink water in this place;
13:9
כִּי־כֵ֣ן׀ צִוָּ֣ה אֹתִ֗י בִּדְבַ֤ר יְהֹוָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר לֹא־תֹ֥אכַל לֶ֖חֶם וְלֹ֣א תִשְׁתֶּה־מָּ֑יִם וְלֹ֣א תָשׁ֔וּב בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלָֽכְתָּ׃
ὅτι οὕτως ἐνετείλατό μοι ἐν λόγῳ κύριος λέγων μὴ φάγῃς ἄρτον καὶ μὴ πίῃς ὕδωρ καὶ μὴ ἐπιστρέψῃς ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ᾗ ἐπορεύθης ἐν αὐτῇ
sic enim mandatum est mihi in sermone Domini praecipientis : Non comedes panem, neque bibes aquam, nec reverteris per viam qua venisti.
እስመ፡ ከመዝ፡ አዘዘኒ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወይቤለኒ፡ ኢትብላዕ፡ እክለ፡ ወኢትስተይ፡ ማየ፡ ወኢትግባእ፡ ፍኖተ፡ እንተ፡ ባቲ፡ ሖርከ።
for so was it commanded me by Yahweh’s word, saying, ‘You shall eat no bread, drink no water, and don’t return by the way that you came.’”
13:10
וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ אַחֵ֑ר וְלֹא־שָׁ֣ב בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֛ר בָּ֥א בָ֖הּ אֶל־בֵּֽית־אֵֽל׃ {פ}
καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ἐν ὁδῷ ἄλλῃ καὶ οὐκ ἀνέστρεψεν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ᾗ ἦλθεν ἐν αὐτῇ εἰς Βαιθηλ
Abiit ergo per aliam viam, et non est reversus per iter quo venerat in Bethel.
ወአተወ፡ እንተ፡ ካልእ፡ ፍኖት፡ ወኢገብአ፡ በፍኖተ፡ እንተ፡ መጽአ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤቴል።
So he went another way, and didn’t return by the way that he came to Bethel.
13:11
וְנָבִ֤יא אֶחָד֙ זָקֵ֔ן יֹשֵׁ֖ב בְּבֵֽית־אֵ֑ל וַיָּב֣וֹא בְנ֡וֹ וַיְסַפֶּר־ל֣וֹ אֶת־כׇּל־הַמַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂה֩ אִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִ֨ים׀הַיּ֜וֹם בְּבֵֽית־אֵ֗ל אֶת־הַדְּבָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֣ר אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַֽיְסַפְּר֖וּם לַאֲבִיהֶֽם׃
καὶ προφήτης εἷς πρεσβύτης κατῴκει ἐν Βαιθηλ καὶ ἔρχονται οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ διηγήσαντο αὐτῷ ἅπαντα τὰ ἔργα ἃ ἐποίησεν ὁ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἐν Βαιθηλ καὶ τοὺς λόγους οὓς ἐλάλησεν τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῶν
Prophetes autem quidam senex habitabat in Bethel : ad quem venerunt filii sui, et narraverunt ei omnia opera quae fecerat vir Dei illa die in Bethel : et verba quae locutus fuerat ad regem, narraverunt patri suo.
ወሀሎ፡ ብእሲ፡ ነቢይ፡ ልሂቅ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤቴል፡ ዘይነብር፡ ወመጽኡ፡ ደቂቁ፡ ወነገርዎ፡ ኵሎ፡ ግብረ፡ ዘገብረ፡ ብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ይእተ፡ አሚረ፡ በቤቴል፡ ወቃሎ፡ ዘከመ፡ ይቤሎ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ወተምዖሙ፡ አቡሆሙ።
Now an old prophet lived in Bethel, and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel. They also told their father the words which he had spoken to the king.
13:12
וַיְדַבֵּ֤ר אֲלֵהֶם֙ אֲבִיהֶ֔ם אֵי־זֶ֥ה הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ הָלָ֑ךְ וַיִּרְא֣וּ בָנָ֗יו אֶת־הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר הָלַךְ֙ אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֖א מִיהוּדָֽה׃
καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς ὁ πατὴρ αὐτῶν λέγων ποίᾳ ὁδῷ πεπόρευται καὶ δεικνύουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ τὴν ὁδὸν ἐν ᾗ ἀνῆλθεν ὁ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ ὁ ἐλθὼν ἐξ Ιουδα
Et dixit eis pater eorum : Per quam viam abiit ? Ostenderunt ei filii sui viam per quam abierat vir Dei, qui venerat de Juda.
ወይቤሎሙ፡ እንተ፡ አይ፡ ፍኖት፡ ሖረ፡ ወአርአይዎ፡ ደቁ፡ ፍኖተ፡ እንተ፡ ባቲ፡ ሖረ፡ ብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘመጽአ፡ እምይሁዳ።
Their father said to them, “Which way did he go?” Now his sons had seen which way the man of God went, who came from Judah.
13:13
וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־בָּנָ֔יו חִבְשׁוּ־לִ֖י הַחֲמ֑וֹר וַיַּחְבְּשׁוּ־ל֣וֹ הַחֲמ֔וֹר וַיִּרְכַּ֖ב עָלָֽיו׃
καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ ἐπισάξατέ μοι τὸν ὄνον καὶ ἐπέσαξαν αὐτῷ τὸν ὄνον καὶ ἐπέβη ἐπ’ αὐτόν
Et ait filiis suis : Sternite mihi asinum. Qui cum stravissent, ascendit,
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ለደቁ፡ ረሐሉ፡ ሊተ፡ አድግየ፡ ወረሐሉ፡ ሎቱ፡ አድጎ፡ ወተጽዕነ።
He said to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me.” So they saddled the donkey for him; and he rode on it.
13:14
וַיֵּ֗לֶךְ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים וַיִּ֨מְצָאֵ֔הוּ יֹשֵׁ֖ב תַּ֣חַת הָאֵלָ֑ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗יו הַאַתָּ֧ה אִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֥אתָ מִיהוּדָ֖ה וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אָֽנִי׃
καὶ ἐπορεύθη κατόπισθεν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ εὗρεν αὐτὸν καθήμενον ὑπὸ δρῦν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ εἰ σὺ εἶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ ὁ ἐληλυθὼς ἐξ Ιουδα καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἐγώ
et abiit post virum Dei, et invenit eum sedentem subtus terebinthum : et ait illi : Tune es vir Dei qui venisti de Juda ? Respondit ille : Ego sum.
ወሖረ፡ ወዴገኖ፡ ለብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወረከቦ፡ ይነብር፡ ታሕተ፡ ዕፅ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ አንተኑ፡ ውእቱ፡ ብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘመጻእከ፡ እምይሁዳ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ አነ፡ ውእቱ።
He went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak. He said to him, “Are you the man of God who came from Judah?” He said, “I am.”
13:15
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔יו לֵ֥ךְ אִתִּ֖י הַבָּ֑יְתָה וֶאֱכֹ֖ל לָֽחֶם׃
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ δεῦρο μετ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ φάγε ἄρτον
Dixitque ad eum : Veni mecum domum, ut comedas panem.
ወይቤሎ፡ ነዓ፡ ምስሌየ፡ ወብላዕ፡ እክለ።
Then he said to him, “Come home with me and eat bread.”
13:16
וַיֹּ֗אמֶר לֹ֥א אוּכַ֛ל לָשׁ֥וּב אִתָּ֖ךְ וְלָב֣וֹא אִתָּ֑ךְ וְלֹא־אֹ֣כַל לֶ֗חֶם וְלֹֽא־אֶשְׁתֶּ֤ה אִתְּךָ֙ מַ֔יִם בַּמָּק֖וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
καὶ εἶπεν οὐ μὴ δύνωμαι τοῦ ἐπιστρέψαι μετὰ σοῦ οὐδὲ μὴ φάγομαι ἄρτον οὐδὲ πίομαι ὕδωρ ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ
Qui ait : Non possum reverti, neque venire tecum : nec comedam panem, neque bibam aquam in loco isto,
ወይቤሎ፡ ኢይክል፡ ገቢአ፡ ምስሌከ ፤ ኢይበልዕ፡ እክለ፡ ወኢይሰቲ፡ ማየ፡ በዝንቱ፡ መካን።
He said, “I may not return with you, nor go in with you. I will not eat bread or drink water with you in this place.
13:17
כִּֽי־דָבָ֤ר אֵלַי֙ בִּדְבַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה לֹא־תֹאכַ֣ל לֶ֔חֶם וְלֹא־תִשְׁתֶּ֥ה שָׁ֖ם מָ֑יִם לֹא־תָשׁ֣וּב לָלֶ֔כֶת בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ אֲשֶׁר־הָלַ֥כְתָּ בָּֽהּ׃
ὅτι οὕτως ἐντέταλταί μοι ἐν λόγῳ κύριος λέγων μὴ φάγῃς ἄρτον ἐκεῖ καὶ μὴ πίῃς ὕδωρ ἐκεῖ καὶ μὴ ἐπιστρέψῃς ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ᾗ ἐπορεύθης ἐν αὐτῇ
quia locutus est Dominus ad me in sermone Domini, dicens : Non comedes panem, et non bibes aquam ibi, nec reverteris per viam qua ieris.
እስመ፡ ከማሁ፡ አዘዘኒ፡ ቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወይቤለኒ፡ ኢትብላዕ፡ እክለ፡ ወኢትስተይ፡ ማየ፡ በህየ፡ ወኢትግባእ፡ በፍኖት፡ እንተ፡ ባቲ፡ ሖርከ።
For it was said to me by Yahweh’s word, ‘You shall eat no bread or drink water there, and don’t turn again to go by the way that you came.’”
13:18
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ גַּם־אֲנִ֣י נָבִיא֮ כָּמ֒וֹךָ֒ וּמַלְאָ֡ךְ דִּבֶּ֣ר אֵלַי֩ בִּדְבַ֨ר יְהֹוָ֜ה לֵאמֹ֗ר הֲשִׁבֵ֤הוּ אִתְּךָ֙ אֶל־בֵּיתֶ֔ךָ וְיֹ֥אכַל לֶ֖חֶם וְיֵ֣שְׁתְּ מָ֑יִם כִּחֵ֖שׁ לֽוֹ׃
καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν κἀγὼ προφήτης εἰμὶ καθὼς σύ καὶ ἄγγελος λελάληκεν πρός με ἐν ῥήματι κυρίου λέγων ἐπίστρεψον αὐτὸν πρὸς σεαυτὸν εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου καὶ φαγέτω ἄρτον καὶ πιέτω ὕδωρ καὶ ἐψεύσατο αὐτῷ
Qui ait illi : Et ego propheta sum similis tui : et angelus locutus est mihi in sermone Domini, dicens : Reduc eum tecum in domum tuam, ut comedat panem, et bibat aquam. Fefellit eum,
ወይቤሎ፡ ዝክቱ፡ አነኒ፡ ነቢይ፡ አነ፡ ዘከማከ፡ ወመልአክ፡ ነበበኒነ፡ በቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወይቤለኒ፡ አግብኦ፡ ኀቤከ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤትከ፡ ወይብላዕ፡ እክለ፡ ወይስተይ፡ ማየ፡ ወሐሰዎ።
He said to him, “I also am a prophet as you are; and an angel spoke to me by Yahweh’s word, saying, ‘Bring him back with you into your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’” He lied to him.
13:19
וַיָּ֣שׇׁב אִתּ֗וֹ וַיֹּ֥אכַל לֶ֛חֶם בְּבֵית֖וֹ וַיֵּ֥שְׁתְּ מָֽיִם׃
καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν αὐτόν καὶ ἔφαγεν ἄρτον καὶ ἔπιεν ὕδωρ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ
et reduxit secum : comedit ergo panem in domo ejus, et bibit aquam.
ወአግብኦ፡ ወበልዐ፡ እክለ፡ ወሰትየ፡ ማየ፡ በቤቱ።
So he went back with him, ate bread in his house, and drank water.
13:20
וַיְהִ֕י הֵ֥ם יֹשְׁבִ֖ים אֶל־הַשֻּׁלְחָ֑ן {פ} וַֽיְהִי֙ דְּבַר־יְהֹוָ֔ה אֶל־הַנָּבִ֖יא אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֱשִׁיבֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτῶν καθημένων ἐπὶ τῆς τραπέζης καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρὸς τὸν προφήτην τὸν ἐπιστρέψαντα αὐτὸν
Cumque sederent ad mensam, factus est sermo Domini ad prophetam qui reduxerat eum.
ወእምዝ፡ እንዘ፡ ይነብር፡ ውስተ፡ ማእድ፡ ወመጽአ፡ ቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ኀበ፡ ዝክቱ፡ ነቢይ፡ ዘአግብኦ።
As they sat at the table, Yahweh’s word came to the prophet who brought him back;
13:21
וַיִּקְרָ֞א אֶל־אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֤א מִֽיהוּדָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֑ה יַ֗עַן כִּ֤י מָרִ֙יתָ֙ פִּ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה וְלֹ֤א שָׁמַ֙רְתָּ֙ אֶת־הַמִּצְוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוְּךָ֖ יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃
καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον τοῦ θεοῦ τὸν ἥκοντα ἐξ Ιουδα λέγων τάδε λέγει κύριος ἀνθ’ ὧν παρεπίκρανας τὸ ῥῆμα κυρίου καὶ οὐκ ἐφύλαξας τὴν ἐντολήν ἣν ἐνετείλατό σοι κύριος ὁ θεός σου
Et exclamavit ad virum Dei qui venerat de Juda, dicens : Haec dicit Dominus : Quia non obediens fuisti ori Domini, et non custodisti mandatum quod praecepit tibi Dominus Deus tuus,
ወይቤሎ፡ ለብእቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘመጽአ፡ እምይሠሁዳ፡ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እስመ፡ አምረርካሁ፡ ለቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወኢዐቀብከ፡ ትእዛዞ፡ ዘአዘዘከ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክከ ፤
and he cried out to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “Yahweh says, ‘Because you have been disobedient to Yahweh’s word, and have not kept the commandment which Yahweh your God commanded you,
13:22
וַתָּ֗שׇׁב וַתֹּ֤אכַל לֶ֙חֶם֙ וַתֵּ֣שְׁתְּ מַ֔יִם בַּמָּקוֹם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֣ר אֵלֶ֔יךָ אַל־תֹּ֥אכַל לֶ֖חֶם וְאַל־תֵּ֣שְׁתְּ מָ֑יִם לֹא־תָב֥וֹא נִבְלָתְךָ֖ אֶל־קֶ֥בֶר אֲבֹתֶֽיךָ׃
καὶ ἐπέστρεψας καὶ ἔφαγες ἄρτον καὶ ἔπιες ὕδωρ ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ ᾧ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς σὲ λέγων μὴ φάγῃς ἄρτον καὶ μὴ πίῃς ὕδωρ οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθῃ τὸ σῶμά σου εἰς τὸν τάφον τῶν πατέρων σου
et reversus es, et comedisti panem, et bibisti aquam in loco in quo praecepit tibi ne comederes panem neque biberes aquam, non inferetur cadaver tuum in sepulchrum patrum tuorum.
—
but came back, and have eaten bread and drank water in the place of which he said to you, “Eat no bread, and drink no water,” your body will not come to the tomb of your fathers.’”
13:23
וַיְהִ֗י אַחֲרֵ֛י אׇכְל֥וֹ לֶ֖חֶם וְאַחֲרֵ֣י שְׁתוֹת֑וֹ וַיַּחֲבׇשׁ־ל֣וֹ הַחֲמ֔וֹר לַנָּבִ֖יא אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֱשִׁיבֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὸ φαγεῖν ἄρτον καὶ πιεῖν ὕδωρ καὶ ἐπέσαξεν αὐτῷ τὸν ὄνον καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν
Cumque comedisset et bibisset, stravit asinum suum prophetae quem reduxerat.
ወእምዝ፡ እምድኅረ፡ በልዐ፡ እክለ፡ ወስትየ፡ ማየ፡ ወረሐሉ፡ ሎቱ፡ እድጎ፡ ወተንሥአ፡ ወሖረ።
After he had eaten bread and after he drank, he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back.
13:24
וַיֵּ֕לֶךְ וַיִּמְצָאֵ֧הוּ אַרְיֵ֛ה בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ וַיְמִיתֵ֑הוּ וַתְּהִ֤י נִבְלָתוֹ֙ מֻשְׁלֶ֣כֶת בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ וְהַֽחֲמוֹר֙ עֹמֵ֣ד אֶצְלָ֔הּ וְהָ֣אַרְיֵ֔ה עֹמֵ֖ד אֵ֥צֶל הַנְּבֵלָֽה׃
καὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ εὗρεν αὐτὸν λέων ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ καὶ ἐθανάτωσεν αὐτόν καὶ ἦν τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ ἐρριμμένον ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ καὶ ὁ ὄνος εἱστήκει παρ’ αὐτό καὶ ὁ λέων εἱστήκει παρὰ τὸ σῶμα
Qui cum abiisset, invenit eum leo in via, et occidit, et erat cadaver ejus projectum in itinere : asinus autem stabat juxta illum, et leo stabat juxta cadaver.
ወረከቦ፡ ዐንበሳ፡ በፍኖት፡ ወቀተሎ፡ ወተገድፈ፡ በድኑ፡ ውስተ፡ ፍኖት፡ ወአድጉሂ፡ ቆመ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ ወውእቱኒ፡ ዐንበሳ፡ ቆመ፡ ኀቤሁ።
When he had gone, a lion met him by the way and killed him. His body was thrown on the path, and the donkey stood by it. The lion also stood by the body.
13:25
וְהִנֵּ֧ה אֲנָשִׁ֣ים עֹבְרִ֗ים וַיִּרְא֤וּ אֶת־הַנְּבֵלָה֙ מֻשְׁלֶ֣כֶת בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ וְאֶת־הָ֣אַרְיֵ֔ה עֹמֵ֖ד אֵ֣צֶל הַנְּבֵלָ֑ה וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ וַיְדַבְּר֣וּ בָעִ֔יר אֲשֶׁ֛ר הַנָּבִ֥יא הַזָּקֵ֖ן יֹשֵׁ֥ב בָּֽהּ׃
καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνδρες παραπορευόμενοι καὶ εἶδον τὸ θνησιμαῖον ἐρριμμένον ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ καὶ ὁ λέων εἱστήκει ἐχόμενα τοῦ θνησιμαίου καὶ εἰσῆλθον καὶ ἐλάλησαν ἐν τῇ πόλει οὗ ὁ προφήτης ὁ πρεσβύτης κατῴκει ἐν αὐτῇ
Et ecce viri transeuntes viderunt cadaver projectum in via, et leonem stantem juxta cadaver. Et venerunt, et divulgaverunt in civitate in qua prophetes ille senex habitabat.
ወመጽኡ፡ ዕደው፡ እለ፡ የኀልፉ፡ ሠረከቡ፡ በድኖ፡ ግዱፈ፡ ውስተ፡ ፍኖት፡ ወይቀውም፡ ዐንበሳ፡ ኀበ፡ በድኑ፡ ወቦኡ፡ ወዜነዉ፡ ኀበ፡ ሀሎ፡ ይነብር፡ ዝክቱ፡ ነቢይ፡ ልሂቅ።
Behold, men passed by and saw the body thrown on the path, and the lion standing by the body; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet lived.
13:26
וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע הַנָּבִיא֮ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֱשִׁיב֣וֹ מִן־הַדֶּ֒רֶךְ֒ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֣ים ה֔וּא אֲשֶׁ֥ר מָרָ֖ה אֶת־פִּ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיִּתְּנֵ֨הוּ יְהֹוָ֜ה לָאַרְיֵ֗ה וַֽיִּשְׁבְּרֵ֙הוּ֙ וַיְמִתֵ֔הוּ כִּדְבַ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֶּר־לֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἤκουσεν ὁ ἐπιστρέψας αὐτὸν ἐκ τῆς ὁδοῦ καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ οὗτός ἐστιν ὃς παρεπίκρανε τὸ ῥῆμα κυρίου
Quod cum audisset propheta ille qui reduxerat eum de via, ait : Vir Dei est, qui inobediens fuit ori Domini, et tradidit eum Dominus leoni, et confregit eum, et occidit juxta verbum Domini quod locutus est ei.
ወሰምዐ፡ ውእቱ፡ ዘአግብኦ፡ ወይቤ፡ ዝክቱ፡ ብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ውእቱ፡ ዘአምረረ፡ ቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
When the prophet who brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, “It is the man of God who was disobedient to Yahweh’s word. Therefore Yahweh has delivered him to the lion, which has mauled him and slain him, according to Yahweh’s word which he spoke to him.”
13:27
וַיְדַבֵּ֤ר אֶל־בָּנָיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר חִבְשׁוּ־לִ֖י אֶֽת־הַחֲמ֑וֹר וַֽיַּחֲבֹֽשׁוּ׃
—
Dixitque ad filios suos : Sternite mihi asinum. Qui cum stravissent,
—
He said to his sons, saying, “Saddle the donkey for me,” and they saddled it.
13:28
וַיֵּ֗לֶךְ וַיִּמְצָ֤א אֶת־נִבְלָתוֹ֙ מֻשְׁלֶ֣כֶת בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ וַֽחֲמוֹר֙ וְהָ֣אַרְיֵ֔ה עֹמְדִ֖ים אֵ֣צֶל הַנְּבֵלָ֑ה לֹֽא־אָכַ֤ל הָֽאַרְיֵה֙ אֶת־הַנְּבֵלָ֔ה וְלֹ֥א שָׁבַ֖ר אֶֽת־הַחֲמֽוֹר׃
καὶ ἐπορεύθη καὶ εὗρεν τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ ἐρριμμένον ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ καὶ ὁ ὄνος καὶ ὁ λέων εἱστήκεισαν παρὰ τὸ σῶμα καὶ οὐκ ἔφαγεν ὁ λέων τὸ σῶμα τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ οὐ συνέτριψεν τὸν ὄνον
et ille abiisset, invenit cadaver ejus projectum in via, et asinum et leonem stantes juxta cadaver : non comedit leo de cadavere, nec laesit asinum.
ወሖረ፡ ወረከቦ፡ በድኖ፡ ግዱፈ፡ ውስተ፡ ፍኖት፡ ወአድጉ፡ ወዐንበሳ፡ ይቀውሙ፡ ውስተ፡ በድኑ፡ ወኢበልዖ፡ ውእቱ፡ ዐንበሳ፡ ሥጋሁ፡ ለብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወአድጎሂ፡ ኢቀተለ።
He went and found his body thrown on the path, and the donkey and the lion standing by the body. The lion had not eaten the body nor mauled the donkey.
13:29
וַיִּשָּׂ֨א הַנָּבִ֜יא אֶת־נִבְלַ֧ת אִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים וַיַּנִּחֵ֥הוּ אֶֽל־הַחֲמ֖וֹר וַיְשִׁיבֵ֑הוּ וַיָּבֹ֗א אֶל־עִיר֙ הַנָּבִ֣יא הַזָּקֵ֔ן לִסְפֹּ֖ד וּלְקׇבְרֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἦρεν ὁ προφήτης τὸ σῶμα τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἐπέθηκεν αὐτὸ ἐπὶ τὸν ὄνον καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν αὐτὸν εἰς τὴν πόλιν ὁ προφήτης τοῦ θάψαι αὐτὸν
Tulit ergo prophetes cadaver viri Dei, et posuit illud super asinum, et reversus intulit in civitatem prophetae senis ut plangeret eum.
ወነሥአ፡ በድኖ፡ ዝክቱ፡ ነቢይ፡ ለብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወጸዐኖ፡ ላዕለ፡ አድጉ፡ ወአእተዎ፡ ሀገረ፡ ውእቱ፡ ነቢይ ፤
The prophet took up the body of the man of God, and laid it on the donkey, and brought it back. He came to the city of the old prophet to mourn, and to bury him.
13:30
וַיַּנַּ֥ח אֶת־נִבְלָת֖וֹ בְּקִבְר֑וֹ וַיִּסְפְּד֥וּ עָלָ֖יו ה֥וֹי אָחִֽי׃
ἐν τῷ τάφῳ ἑαυτοῦ καὶ ἐκόψαντο αὐτόν οὐαὶ ἀδελφέ
Et posuit cadaver ejus in sepulchro suo, et planxerunt eum : Heu, heu mi frater !
ከመ፡ ይቅብሮ፡ ውስተ፡ መቃብረ፡ ዚአሁ፡ ወበከይዎ፡ ወላሐውዎ።
He laid his body in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, “Alas, my brother!”
13:31
וַיְהִי֮ אַחֲרֵ֣י קׇבְר֣וֹ אֹתוֹ֒ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֶל־בָּנָיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר בְּמוֹתִי֙ וּקְבַרְתֶּ֣ם אֹתִ֔י בַּקֶּ֕בֶר אֲשֶׁ֛ר אִ֥ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים קָב֣וּר בּ֑וֹ אֵ֚צֶל עַצְמֹתָ֔יו הַנִּ֖יחוּ אֶת־עַצְמֹתָֽי׃
καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὸ κόψασθαι αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ λέγων ἐὰν ἀποθάνω θάψατέ με ἐν τῷ τάφῳ τούτῳ οὗ ὁ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ τέθαπται ἐν αὐτῷ παρὰ τὰ ὀστᾶ αὐτοῦ θέτε με ἵνα σωθῶσι τὰ ὀστᾶ μου μετὰ τῶν ὀστῶν αὐτοῦ
Cumque planxissent eum, dixit ad filios suos : Cum mortuus fuero, sepelite me in sepulchro in quo vir Dei sepultus est : juxta ossa ejus ponite ossa mea.
ወእምድኅረ፡ ላሐውዎ፡ ይቤሎሙ፡ ለደቁ፡ አመ፡ ሞትኩ፡ ቅብሩኒ፡ ውስተ፡ ዝንቱ፡ መቃብር፡ ኀበ፡ ተቀብረ፡ ብእሴ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ኀበ፡ ሀለዉ፡ አዕፅምቲሁ፡ ደዩኒ፡ ኪያየ፡ ከመ፡ ይሕየዉ፡ አዕፅምትየ፡ ምስለ፡ አዕፅምቲሁ።
After he had buried him, he spoke to his sons, saying, “When I am dead, bury me in the tomb in which the man of God is buried. Lay my bones beside his bones.
13:32
כִּי֩ הָיֹ֨ה יִֽהְיֶ֜ה הַדָּבָ֗ר אֲשֶׁ֤ר קָרָא֙ בִּדְבַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּבֵֽית־אֵ֑ל וְעַל֙ כׇּל־בָּתֵּ֣י הַבָּמ֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּעָרֵ֥י שֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃ {פ}
ὅτι γινόμενον ἔσται τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ ἐλάλησεν ἐν λόγῳ κυρίου ἐπὶ τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τοῦ ἐν Βαιθηλ καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς οἴκους τοὺς ὑψηλοὺς τοὺς ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ
Profecto enim veniet sermo quem praedixit in sermone Domini contra altare quod est in Bethel, et contra omnia fana excelsorum quae sunt in urbibus Samariae.
እስመ፡ ኮነ፡ ቃሉ፡ ዘነበበ፡ በቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ላዕለ፡ ምሥዋዕ፡ ዘቤቴል፡ ወላዕለ፡ አብያተ፡ አማልክቲሆሙ፡ ዘውስተ፡ ሰማርያ።
For the saying which he cried by Yahweh’s word against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, will surely happen.”
13:33
אַחַר֙ הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה לֹא־שָׁ֥ב יָרׇבְעָ֖ם מִדַּרְכּ֣וֹ הָרָעָ֑ה וַ֠יָּ֠שׇׁב וַיַּ֜עַשׂ מִקְצ֤וֹת הָעָם֙ כֹּהֲנֵ֣י בָמ֔וֹת הֶֽחָפֵץ֙ יְמַלֵּ֣א אֶת־יָד֔וֹ וִיהִ֖י כֹּהֲנֵ֥י בָמֽוֹת׃
καὶ μετὰ τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο οὐκ ἐπέστρεψεν Ιεροβοαμ ἀπὸ τῆς κακίας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν καὶ ἐποίησεν ἐκ μέρους τοῦ λαοῦ ἱερεῖς ὑψηλῶν ὁ βουλόμενος ἐπλήρου τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐγίνετο ἱερεὺς εἰς τὰ ὑψηλά
Post verba haec non est reversus Jeroboam de via sua pessima, sed e contrario fecit de novissimis populi sacerdotes excelsorum : quicumque volebat, implebat manum suam, et fiebat sacerdos excelsorum.
ወእምድኅረ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ነገር፡ ኢተመይጠ፡ ኢዮርብዓም፡ እምነ፡ እከዩ፡ ወገብአ፡ ወገብረ፡ ገነውተ፡ አማልክቲሆሙ፡ እምውስተ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ወለዘፈቀደ፡ ይኩን፡ ገነውተ፡ አማልክቲሆሙ፡ ይፈቱ፡ ወይከውን።
After this thing, Jeroboam didn’t turn from his evil way, but again made priests of the high places from among all the people. Whoever wanted to, he consecrated him, that there might be priests of the high places.

וַֽיְהִי֙ בַּדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה לְחַטַּ֖את בֵּ֣ית יָרׇבְעָ֑ם וּלְהַכְחִיד֙ וּלְהַשְׁמִ֔יד מֵעַ֖ל פְּנֵ֥י הָאֲדָמָֽה׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐγένετο τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο εἰς ἁμαρτίαν τῷ οἴκῳ Ιεροβοαμ καὶ εἰς ὄλεθρον καὶ εἰς ἀφανισμὸν ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς γῆς
Et propter hanc causam peccavit domus Jeroboam, et eversa est, et deleta de superficie terrae.
ወኮነ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ነገር፡ ኀጢአተ፡ ላዕለ፡ ቤተ፡ ኢዮርብዓም፡ ለተሠርዎ፡ ወለማስኖ፡ እምገጸ፡ ምድር።
This thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off and to destroy it from off the surface of the earth.
