1:1
וְהַמֶּ֤לֶךְ דָּוִד֙ זָקֵ֔ן בָּ֖א בַּיָּמִ֑ים וַיְכַסֻּ֙הוּ֙ בַּבְּגָדִ֔ים וְלֹ֥א יִחַ֖ם לֽוֹ׃
καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ πρεσβύτερος προβεβηκὼς ἡμέραις καὶ περιέβαλλον αὐτὸν ἱματίοις καὶ οὐκ ἐθερμαίνετο
Et rex David senuerat, habebatque aetatis plurimos dies : cumque operiretur vestibus, non calefiebat.
ወዳዊትሰ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ልህቀ፡ ወኀለፈ፡ መዋዕሊሁ፡ ወይከድንዎ፡ አልባሰ፡ ወኢያመውቆ።
Now King David was old and advanced in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he couldn’t keep warm.
1:2
וַיֹּ֧אמְרוּ ל֣וֹ עֲבָדָ֗יו יְבַקְשׁ֞וּ לַאדֹנִ֤י הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ נַעֲרָ֣ה בְתוּלָ֔ה וְעָֽמְדָה֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וּתְהִי־ל֖וֹ סֹכֶ֑נֶת וְשָׁכְבָ֣ה בְחֵיקֶ֔ךָ וְחַ֖ם לַאדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
καὶ εἶπον οἱ παῖδες αὐτοῦ ζητησάτωσαν τῷ κυρίῳ ἡμῶν τῷ βασιλεῖ παρθένον νεάνιδα καὶ παραστήσεται τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ ἔσται αὐτὸν θάλπουσα καὶ κοιμηθήσεται μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ θερμανθήσεται ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν ὁ βασιλεύς
Dixerunt ergo ei servi sui : Quaeramus domino nostro regi adolescentulam virginem, et stet coram rege, et foveat eum, dormiatque in sinu suo, et calefaciat dominum nostrum regem.
ወይቤሉ፡ ደቁ፡ ለዳዊት፡ ይኅሥሡ፡ ለእግዚእነ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ወለተ፡ ድንግለ፡ ወያምጽእዋ፡ ኀበ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወትሰክብ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ወተሐቅፎ፡ ወታስተማውቆ፡ ወይመውቅ፡ እግዚእነ፡ ንጉሥ።
Therefore his servants said to him, “Let a young virgin be sought for my lord the king. Let her stand before the king, and cherish him; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm.”
1:3
וַיְבַקְשׁוּ֙ נַעֲרָ֣ה יָפָ֔ה בְּכֹ֖ל גְּב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַֽיִּמְצְא֗וּ אֶת־אֲבִישַׁג֙ הַשּׁ֣וּנַמִּ֔ית וַיָּבִ֥אוּ אֹתָ֖הּ לַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
καὶ ἐζήτησαν νεάνιδα καλὴν ἐκ παντὸς ὁρίου Ισραηλ καὶ εὗρον τὴν Αβισακ τὴν Σωμανῖτιν καὶ ἤνεγκαν αὐτὴν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα
Quaesierunt igitur adolescentulam speciosam in omnibus finibus Israël, et invenerunt Abisag Sunamitidem, et adduxerunt eam ad regem.
ወኀሠሡ፡ ወለተ፡ ሠናይተ፡ እምነ፡ ኵሉ፡ ደወለ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወረከቡ፡ አቢሳሃ፡ ሰሜናዊት፡ ወወሰድዋ፡ ኀበ፡ ንጉሥ።
So they sought for a beautiful young lady throughout all the borders of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
1:4
וְהַֽנַּעֲרָ֖ה יָפָ֣ה עַד־מְאֹ֑ד וַתְּהִ֨י לַמֶּ֤לֶךְ סֹכֶ֙נֶת֙ וַתְּשָׁ֣רְתֵ֔הוּ וְהַמֶּ֖לֶךְ לֹ֥א יְדָעָֽהּ׃
καὶ ἡ νεᾶνις καλὴ ἕως σφόδρα καὶ ἦν θάλπουσα τὸν βασιλέα καὶ ἐλειτούργει αὐτῷ καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς οὐκ ἔγνω αὐτήν
Erat autem puella pulchra nimis, dormiebatque cum rege, et ministrabat ei : rex vero non cognovit eam.
ወነበረት፡ ትትለአኮ፡ ወንጉሥሰ፡ ኢያእመራ።
The young lady was very beautiful; and she cherished the king, and served him; but the king didn’t know her intimately.
1:5
וַאֲדֹנִיָּ֧ה בֶן־חַגִּ֛ית מִתְנַשֵּׂ֥א לֵאמֹ֖ר אֲנִ֣י אֶמְלֹ֑ךְ וַיַּ֣עַשׂ ל֗וֹ רֶ֚כֶב וּפָ֣רָשִׁ֔ים וַחֲמִשִּׁ֥ים אִ֖ישׁ רָצִ֥ים לְפָנָֽיו׃
καὶ Αδωνιας υἱὸς Αγγιθ ἐπῄρετο λέγων ἐγὼ βασιλεύσω καὶ ἐποίησεν ἑαυτῷ ἅρματα καὶ ἱππεῖς καὶ πεντήκοντα ἄνδρας παρατρέχειν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ
Adonias autem filius Haggith elevabatur, dicens : Ego regnabo. Fecitque sibi currus et equites, et quinquaginta viros qui currerent ante eum.
ወአዶንያስ፡ ወልደ፡ አጊት፡ ተንሥአ፡ ወይቤ፡ አነ፡ እነግሥ፡ ወገብረ፡ ሎቱ፡ ሰረገላተ፡ ወአፍራሰ፡ ወ፡ ፶ብእሴ፡ እለ፡ ይረውጹ፡ ቅድሜሁ።
Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will be king.” Then he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
1:6
וְלֹֽא־עֲצָב֨וֹ אָבִ֤יו מִיָּמָיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר מַדּ֖וּעַ כָּ֣כָה עָשִׂ֑יתָ וְגַם־ה֤וּא טֽוֹב־תֹּ֙אַר֙ מְאֹ֔ד וְאֹת֥וֹ יָלְדָ֖ה אַחֲרֵ֥י אַבְשָׁלֽוֹם׃
καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκώλυσεν αὐτὸν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ οὐδέποτε λέγων διὰ τί σὺ ἐποίησας καί γε αὐτὸς ὡραῖος τῇ ὄψει σφόδρα καὶ αὐτὸν ἔτεκεν ὀπίσω Αβεσσαλωμ
Nec corripuit eum pater suus aliquando, dicens : Quare hoc fecisti ? Erat autem et ipse pulcher valde, secundus natu post Absalom.
ወግሙራ፡ ኢከልኦ፡ ኦቡሁ፡ ወኢይቤሎ፡ ለምንት፡ ትገብር፡ ከመዝ፡ ወሠናይ፡ ውእቱ፡ ወላሕይ፡ ንጹ፡ ፈድፋደ፡ ወኪያሁ፡ ወለደ፡ እምድኅረ፡ አቤሴሎም።
His father had not displeased him at any time in saying, “Why have you done so?” and he was also a very handsome man; and he was born after Absalom.
1:7
וַיִּהְי֣וּ דְבָרָ֔יו עִ֚ם יוֹאָ֣ב בֶּן־צְרוּיָ֔ה וְעִ֖ם אֶבְיָתָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֑ן וַֽיַּעְזְר֔וּ אַחֲרֵ֖י אֲדֹנִיָּֽה׃
καὶ ἐγένοντο οἱ λόγοι αὐτοῦ μετὰ Ιωαβ τοῦ υἱοῦ Σαρουιας καὶ μετὰ Αβιαθαρ τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ ἐβοήθουν ὀπίσω Αδωνιου
Et sermo ei cum Joab filio Sarviae, et cum Abiathar sacerdote, qui adjuvabant partes Adoniae.
ወኵሉ፡ ምክሩ፡ ምስለ፡ ኢዮአብ፡ ወልደ፡ ሶርህያ፡ ወምስለ፡ አብያታር፡ ካህን፡ ወተለውዎ፡ ለአዶንያስ፡ ወረድእዎ።
He conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest; and they followed Adonijah and helped him.
1:8
וְצָד֣וֹק הַ֠כֹּהֵ֠ן וּבְנָיָ֨הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹיָדָ֜ע וְנָתָ֤ן הַנָּבִיא֙ וְשִׁמְעִ֣י וְרֵעִ֔י וְהַגִּבּוֹרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְדָוִ֑ד לֹ֥א הָי֖וּ עִם־אֲדֹנִיָּֽהוּ׃
καὶ Σαδωκ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης καὶ Σεμεϊ καὶ Ρηι καὶ οἱ δυνατοὶ τοῦ Δαυιδ οὐκ ἦσαν ὀπίσω Αδωνιου
Sadoc vero sacerdos, et Banaias filius Jojadae, et Nathan propheta, et Semei et Rei, et robur exercitus David, non erat cum Adonia.
ወሳዶቅ፡ ካህን፡ ወብንያስ፡ ወልደ፡ ዮዳሔ፡ ወዮናታን፡ ነቢይ፡ ወሳሚ፡ ወሬሲ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ኀይሉ፡ ለዳዊት፡ ኢተለውዎ፡ ለኦዶንያስ።
But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
1:9
וַיִּזְבַּ֣ח אֲדֹנִיָּ֗הוּ צֹ֤אן וּבָקָר֙ וּמְרִ֔יא עִ֚ם אֶ֣בֶן הַזֹּחֶ֔לֶת אֲשֶׁר־אֵ֖צֶל עֵ֣ין רֹגֵ֑ל וַיִּקְרָ֗א אֶת־כׇּל־אֶחָיו֙ בְּנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וּלְכׇל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה עַבְדֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
καὶ ἐθυσίασεν Αδωνιας πρόβατα καὶ μόσχους καὶ ἄρνας μετὰ λίθου τοῦ Ζωελεθ ὃς ἦν ἐχόμενα τῆς πηγῆς Ρωγηλ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἁδροὺς Ιουδα παῖδας τοῦ βασιλέως
Immolatis ergo Adonias arietibus et vitulis, et universis pinguibus, juxta lapidem Zoheleth, qui erat vicinus fonti Rogel, vocavit universos fratres suos filios regis, et omnes viros Juda servos regis.
ወጠብሐ፡ ኦዶንያስ፡ አበግዐ፡ ወአጣሌ፡ ወአልህምተ፡ በኀበ፡ ኤቲ፡ ዘዝኤልቲ፡ ዘእምእኃዘ፡ ምድረ፡ ሮጌል፡ ወጸውዐ፡ ኵሎ፡ አኀዊሁ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወኵሎ፡ ጽኑዓነ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ንጉሥ ፤
Adonijah killed sheep, cattle, and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En Rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah, the king’s servants;
1:10
וְֽאֶת־נָתָן֩ הַנָּבִ֨יא וּבְנָיָ֜הוּ וְֽאֶת־הַגִּבּוֹרִ֛ים וְאֶת־שְׁלֹמֹ֥ה אָחִ֖יו לֹ֥א קָרָֽא׃
καὶ τὸν Ναθαν τὸν προφήτην καὶ Βαναιαν καὶ τοὺς δυνατοὺς καὶ τὸν Σαλωμων ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἐκάλεσεν
Nathan autem prophetam, et Banaiam, et robustos quosque, et Salomonem fratrem suum non vocavit.
ወናታንሃ፡ ነቢይ፡ ወብንያስ፡ ወጽኑዓኒሆሙ፡ ወሰሎሞንሃ፡ እኁሁ፡ ኢጸውዖሙ።
but he didn’t call Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother.
1:11
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר נָתָ֗ן אֶל־בַּת־שֶׁ֤בַע אֵם־שְׁלֹמֹה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הֲל֣וֹא שָׁמַ֔עַתְּ כִּ֥י מָלַ֖ךְ אֲדֹנִיָּ֣הוּ בֶן־חַגִּ֑ית וַאֲדֹנֵ֥ינוּ דָוִ֖ד לֹ֥א יָדָֽע׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ναθαν πρὸς Βηρσαβεε μητέρα Σαλωμων λέγων οὐκ ἤκουσας ὅτι ἐβασίλευσεν Αδωνιας υἱὸς Αγγιθ καὶ ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν Δαυιδ οὐκ ἔγνω
Dixit itaque Nathan ad Bethsabee matrem Salomonis : Num audisti quod regnaverit Adonias filius Haggith, et dominus noster David hoc ignorat ?
ወይቤላ፡ ናታን፡ ለቤርሳቤሕ፡ እሙ፡ ለሰሎሞን፡ እንዘ፡ ይብል፡ ኢሰማዕሊኑ፡ ከመ፡ ነግሠ፡ አዶንያስ፡ ወልደ፡ አጊት፡ ወእግዚእነሰ፡ ዳዊት፡ ኢያእመረ።
Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, “Haven’t you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn’t know it?
1:12
וְעַתָּ֕ה לְכִ֛י אִיעָצֵ֥ךְ נָ֖א עֵצָ֑ה וּמַלְּטִי֙ אֶת־נַפְשֵׁ֔ךְ וְאֶת־נֶ֥פֶשׁ בְּנֵ֖ךְ שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃
καὶ νῦν δεῦρο συμβουλεύσω σοι δὴ συμβουλίαν καὶ ἐξελοῦ τὴν ψυχήν σου καὶ τὴν ψυχὴν τοῦ υἱοῦ σου Σαλωμων
Nunc ergo veni, accipe consilium a me, et salva animam tuam, filiique tui Salomonis.
ወይእዜኒ፡ ንዒ፡ ኣምክርኪ፡ ምክረ፡ ወታድኅኒ፡ ነፍሰሊ፡ ወነፍሰ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ ወልድኪ።
Now therefore come, please let me give you counsel, that you may save your own life and your son Solomon’s life.
1:13
לְכִ֞י וּבֹ֣אִי׀ אֶל־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֗ד וְאָמַ֤רְתְּ אֵלָיו֙ הֲלֹֽא־אַתָּ֞ה אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ נִשְׁבַּ֤עְתָּ לַאֲמָֽתְךָ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר כִּֽי־שְׁלֹמֹ֤ה בְנֵךְ֙ יִמְלֹ֣ךְ אַחֲרַ֔י וְה֖וּא יֵשֵׁ֣ב עַל־כִּסְאִ֑י וּמַדּ֖וּעַ מָלַ֥ךְ אֲדֹנִיָּֽהוּ׃
δεῦρο εἴσελθε πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Δαυιδ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγουσα οὐχὶ σύ κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ ὤμοσας τῇ δούλῃ σου λέγων ὅτι Σαλωμων ὁ υἱός σου βασιλεύσει μετ’ ἐμὲ καὶ αὐτὸς καθιεῖται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου καὶ τί ὅτι ἐβασίλευσεν Αδωνιας
Vade, et ingredere ad regem David, et dic ei : Nonne tu, domine mi rex, jurasti mihi ancillae tuae, dicens : Salomon filius tuus regnabit post me, et ipse sedebit in solio meo ? quare ergo regnat Adonias ?
ንዒ፡ ሖሪ፡ ኀበ፡ ዳዊት፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወትብልዮ፡ አንተ፡ እግዚእየ፡ መሐልከ፡ ለአመትከ፡ እንዘ፡ ትብል፡ ወልድኪ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ ይነግሥ፡ እምድኅሬየ፡ ወውእቱ፡ ይነብር፡ ዲበ፡ መንበርየ፡ ወእፎ፡ ከመ፡ ነግሠ፡ አዶንያስ።
Go in to King David, and tell him, ‘Didn’t you, my lord the king, swear to your servant, saying, “Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne”? Why then does Adonijah reign?’
1:14
הִנֵּ֗ה עוֹדָ֛ךְ מְדַבֶּ֥רֶת שָׁ֖ם עִם־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַֽאֲנִי֙ אָב֣וֹא אַחֲרַ֔יִךְ וּמִלֵּאתִ֖י אֶת־דְּבָרָֽיִךְ׃
καὶ ἰδοὺ ἔτι λαλούσης σου ἐκεῖ μετὰ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἐγὼ εἰσελεύσομαι ὀπίσω σου καὶ πληρώσω τοὺς λόγους σου
Et adhuc ibi te loquente cum rege, ego veniam post te, et complebo sermones tuos.
ወእንዘ፡ አንቲ፡ ትትናገሪ፡ ምስለ፡ ንጉሥ፡ በህየ፡ እበውእ፡ አነሂ፡ እተልወኪ፡ ወእፌጽም፡ ነገርኪ።
Behold, while you are still talking there with the king, I will also come in after you and confirm your words.”
1:15
וַתָּבֹ֨א בַת־שֶׁ֤בַע אֶל־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ הַחַ֔דְרָה וְהַמֶּ֖לֶךְ זָקֵ֣ן מְאֹ֑ד וַאֲבִישַׁג֙ הַשּׁ֣וּנַמִּ֔ית מְשָׁרַ֖ת אֶת־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Βηρσαβεε πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα εἰς τὸ ταμίειον καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς πρεσβύτης σφόδρα καὶ Αβισακ ἡ Σωμανῖτις ἦν λειτουργοῦσα τῷ βασιλεῖ
Ingressa est itaque Bethsabee ad regem in cubiculum : rex autem senuerat nimis, et Abisag Sunamitis ministrabat ei.
ወቦአት፡ ቤርሳቤሕ፡ ኀበ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ውስተ፡ ጽርሕ፡ ወንጉሥሰ፡ ልህቀ፡ ጥቀ፡ ወአቢሳ፡ ሰሜናዊት፡ ትትለአኮ፡ ለንጉሥ።
Bathsheba went in to the king in his room. The king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was serving the king.
1:16
וַתִּקֹּ֣ד בַּת־שֶׁ֔בַע וַתִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ לַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ מַה־לָּֽךְ׃
καὶ ἔκυψεν Βηρσαβεε καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεύς τί ἐστίν σοι
Inclinavit se Bethsabee, et adoravit regem. Ad quam rex : Quid tibi, inquit, vis ?
ወደነነት፡ ቤርሳቤሕ፡ ወሰገደት፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ወይቤላ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ምንተ፡ ኮንኪ።
Bathsheba bowed and showed respect to the king. The king said, “What would you like?”
1:17
וַתֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ אֲדֹנִי֙ אַתָּ֨ה נִשְׁבַּ֜עְתָּ בַּיהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ לַאֲמָתֶ֔ךָ כִּֽי־שְׁלֹמֹ֥ה בְנֵ֖ךְ יִמְלֹ֣ךְ אַחֲרָ֑י וְה֖וּא יֵשֵׁ֥ב עַל־כִּסְאִֽי׃
ἡ δὲ εἶπεν κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ σὺ ὤμοσας ἐν κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ σου τῇ δούλῃ σου λέγων ὅτι Σαλωμων ὁ υἱός σου βασιλεύσει μετ’ ἐμὲ καὶ αὐτὸς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου
Quae respondens, ait : Domine mi, tu jurasti per Dominum Deum tuum ancillae tuae : Salomon filius tuus regnabit post me, et ipse sedebit in solio meo.
ወትቤሎ፡ እግዚእየ፡ ንጉሥ፡ አንተ፡ መሐልከ፡ በአምላክከ፡ ለአመትከ፡ እንዘ፡ ትብል፡ ከመ፡ ወልድኪ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ ይነግሥ፡ እምድኅሬየ፡ ወውእቱ፡ ይነብር፡ ዲበ፡ መንበርየ።
She said to him, “My lord, you swore by Yahweh your God to your servant, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.’
1:18
וְעַתָּ֕ה הִנֵּ֥ה אֲדֹנִיָּ֖ה מָלָ֑ךְ וְעַתָּ֛ה אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ לֹ֥א יָדָֽעְתָּ׃
καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ Αδωνιας ἐβασίλευσεν καὶ σύ κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ οὐκ ἔγνως
Et ecce nunc Adonias regnat, te, domine mi rex, ignorante.
ወናሁ፡ ይእዜ፡ ነግሠ፡ አዶንያስ፡ ወአንተ፡ እግዚእየ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ኢያእመርከ።
Now, behold, Adonijah reigns; and you, my lord the king, don’t know it.
1:19
וַ֠יִּזְבַּ֠ח שׁ֥וֹר וּֽמְרִיא־וְצֹאן֮ לָרֹב֒ {פ} וַיִּקְרָא֙ לְכׇל־בְּנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וּלְאֶבְיָתָר֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וּלְיֹאָ֖ב שַׂ֣ר הַצָּבָ֑א וְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֥ה עַבְדְּךָ֖ לֹ֥א קָרָֽא׃
καὶ ἐθυσίασεν μόσχους καὶ ἄρνας καὶ πρόβατα εἰς πλῆθος καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς υἱοὺς τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ Αβιαθαρ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ Ιωαβ τὸν ἄρχοντα τῆς δυνάμεως καὶ τὸν Σαλωμων τὸν δοῦλόν σου οὐκ ἐκάλεσεν
Mactavit boves, et pinguia quaeque, et arietes plurimos, et vocavit omnes filios regis, Abiathar quoque sacerdotem, et Joab principem militiae : Salomonem autem servum tuum non vocavit.
ወጠብሐ፡ አልህምተ፡ ወአባግዐ፡ ወአጣሌ፡ ብዙኀ፡ ወጸውዐ፡ ኵሎ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወአብያታር፡ ካህን፡ ወኢዮአብ፡ መልአከ፡ ኀይል ፤ ወሰሎሞንሂ፡ ገብርከ፡ ኢጸውዐ።
He has slain cattle and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the sons of the king, Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the army; but he hasn’t called Solomon your servant.
1:20
וְאַתָּה֙ אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ עֵינֵ֥י כׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עָלֶ֑יךָ לְהַגִּ֣יד לָהֶ֔ם מִ֗י יֵשֵׁ֛ב עַל־כִּסֵּ֥א אֲדֹנִֽי־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אַחֲרָֽיו׃
καὶ σύ κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ παντὸς Ισραηλ πρὸς σὲ ἀπαγγεῖλαι αὐτοῖς τίς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως μετ’ αὐτόν
Verumtamen, domine mi rex, in te oculi respiciunt totius Israël, ut indices eis quis sedere debeat in solio tuo, domine mi rex, post te.
ወኪያከ፡ እግዚእየ፡ ንጉሥ፡ አዕይንተ፡ ኵሉ፡ እስራኤል፡ ይሴፈዋከ፡ ታይድዖሙ፡ መኑ፡ ይነብር፡ ውስተ፡ መንበርከ፡ እግዚእየ፡ ንጉሥ፡ እምድኅሬከ።
You, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, that you should tell them who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
1:21
וְהָיָ֕ה כִּשְׁכַ֥ב אֲדֹנִֽי־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֑יו וְהָיִ֗יתִי אֲנִ֛י וּבְנִ֥י שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה חַטָּאִֽים׃
καὶ ἔσται ὡς ἂν κοιμηθῇ ὁ κύριός μου ὁ βασιλεὺς μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔσομαι ἐγὼ καὶ ὁ υἱός μου Σαλωμων ἁμαρτωλοί
Eritque, cum dormierit dominus meus rex cum patribus suis, erimus ego et filius meus Salomon peccatores.
ወእምከመ፡ ሰከበ፡ እግዚእየ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ምስለ፡ አበዊሁ፡ ወንከውን፡ አነ፡ ወወልድየ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ ኃጥኣነ።
Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king sleeps with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be considered criminals.”
1:22
וְהִנֵּ֛ה עוֹדֶ֥נָּה מְדַבֶּ֖רֶת עִם־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְנָתָ֥ן הַנָּבִ֖יא בָּֽא׃
καὶ ἰδοὺ ἔτι αὐτῆς λαλούσης μετὰ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης ἦλθεν
Adhuc illa loquente cum rege, Nathan propheta venit.
ወእንዘ፡ ዓዲ፡ ትትናገር፡ ይእቲ፡ ምስለ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወቦአ፡ ናታን፡ ነቢይ፡ ቅድመ፡ ንጉሥ፡
Behold, while she was still talking with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.
1:23
וַיַּגִּ֤ידוּ לַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הִנֵּ֖ה נָתָ֣ן הַנָּבִ֑יא וַיָּבֹא֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַיִּשְׁתַּ֧חוּ לַמֶּ֛לֶךְ עַל־אַפָּ֖יו אָֽרְצָה׃
καὶ ἀνηγγέλη τῷ βασιλεῖ ἰδοὺ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης καὶ εἰσῆλθεν κατὰ πρόσωπον τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ βασιλεῖ κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν
Et nuntiaverunt regi, dicentes : Adest Nathan propheta. Cumque introisset in conspectu regis, et adorasset eum pronus in terram,
ወሰገደ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ በገጹ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር።
They told the king, saying, “Behold, Nathan the prophet!” When he had come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
1:24
וַיֹּ֘אמֶר֮ נָתָן֒ אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אַתָּ֣ה אָמַ֔רְתָּ אֲדֹנִיָּ֖הוּ יִמְלֹ֣ךְ אַחֲרָ֑י וְה֖וּא יֵשֵׁ֥ב עַל־כִּסְאִֽי׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ναθαν κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ σὺ εἶπας Αδωνιας βασιλεύσει ὀπίσω μου καὶ αὐτὸς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου
dixit Nathan : Domine mi rex, tu dixisti : Adonias regnet post me, et ipse sedeat super thronum meum ?
ወይቤሎ፡ ናታን፡ ነቢይ፡ እግዚእየ፡ ንጉሥ፡ አንተኑ፡ ትቤ፡ አዶንያስ፡ ይነግሥ፡ እምድኅሬየ፡ ወውእቱ፡ ይነብር፡ ውስተ፡ መንበርየ።
Nathan said, “My lord, King, have you said, ‘Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne’?
1:25
כִּ֣י׀ יָרַ֣ד הַיּ֗וֹם וַ֠יִּזְבַּ֠ח שׁ֥וֹר וּֽמְרִיא־וְצֹאן֮ לָרֹב֒ וַיִּקְרָא֩ לְכׇל־בְּנֵ֨י הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ וּלְשָׂרֵ֤י הַצָּבָא֙ וּלְאֶבְיָתָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְהִנָּ֛ם אֹכְלִ֥ים וְשֹׁתִ֖ים לְפָנָ֑יו וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ יְחִ֖י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ אֲדֹנִיָּֽהוּ׃
ὅτι κατέβη σήμερον καὶ ἐθυσίασεν μόσχους καὶ ἄρνας καὶ πρόβατα εἰς πλῆθος καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς υἱοὺς τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας τῆς δυνάμεως καὶ Αβιαθαρ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ ἰδού εἰσιν ἐσθίοντες καὶ πίνοντες ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπαν ζήτω ὁ βασιλεὺς Αδωνιας
Quia descendit hodie, et immolavit boves, et pinguia, et arietes plurimos, et vocavit universos filios regis et principes exercitus, Abiathar quoque sacerdotem, illisque vescentibus et bibentibus coram eo, et dicentibus : Vivat rex Adonias :
እስመ፡ ወረደ፡ ዮም፡ ወሦዐ፡ አልህምተ፡ ወአባግዐ፡ ወአጣሌ፡ ብዙኀ፡ ወጸውዖሙ፡ ለኵሎሙ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወመላእክተ፡ ኀይል፡ ወአብያታር፡ ካህን፡ ወሀለዉ፡ ይበልዑ፡ ወይሰትዩ፡ በቅድሜሁ፡ ወይቤልዎ፡ ሕያው፡ አበ፡ ነጋሢ፡ አዶንያስ።
For he has gone down today, and has slain cattle, fatlings, and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king’s sons, the captains of the army, and Abiathar the priest. Behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and saying, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’
1:26
וְלִ֣י אֲנִֽי־עַ֠בְדֶּ֠ךָ וּלְצָדֹ֨ק הַכֹּהֵ֜ן וְלִבְנָיָ֧הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹיָדָ֛ע וְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֥ה עַבְדְּךָ֖ לֹ֥א קָרָֽא׃
καὶ ἐμὲ αὐτὸν τὸν δοῦλόν σου καὶ Σαδωκ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ Βαναιαν υἱὸν Ιωδαε καὶ Σαλωμων τὸν δοῦλόν σου οὐκ ἐκάλεσεν
me servum tuum, et Sadoc sacerdotem, et Banaiam filium Jojadae, et Salomonem famulum tuum non vocavit.
ወኪያየሰ፡ ገብርከ፡ ወሳዶቅሃ፡ ካህን፡ ወብንያስሃ፡ ወልደ፡ ዮዳሔ፡ ወሰሎሞንሃ፡ ገብርከ፡ ኢጸውዐ።
But he hasn’t called me, even me your servant, Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon.
1:27
אִ֗ם מֵאֵת֙ אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ נִֽהְיָ֖ה הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה וְלֹ֤א הוֹדַ֙עְתָּ֙ אֶֽת־[עַבְדְּךָ֔] (עבדיך) מִ֗י יֵשֵׁ֛ב עַל־כִּסֵּ֥א אֲדֹנִֽי־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אַחֲרָֽיו׃ {ס}
εἰ διὰ τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως γέγονεν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο καὶ οὐκ ἐγνώρισας τῷ δούλῳ σου τίς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τὸν θρόνον τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως μετ’ αὐτόν
Numquid a domino meo rege exivit hoc verbum, et mihi non indicasti servo tuo quis sessurus esset super thronum domini mei regis post eum ?
ለእመ፡ እምኀበ፡ እግዚእየ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ኮነ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ነገር፡ ወኢነገርኮ፡ ለገብርከ፡ መኑ፡ ይነብር፡ ውስተ፡ መንበርከ፡ አግዚእየ፡ ንጉሥ፡ እምድኅሬሁ።
Was this thing done by my lord the king, and you haven’t shown to your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?”
1:28
וַיַּ֨עַן הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ דָּוִד֙ וַיֹּ֔אמֶר קִרְאוּ־לִ֖י לְבַת־שָׁ֑בַע וַתָּבֹא֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖ד לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Δαυιδ καὶ εἶπεν καλέσατέ μοι τὴν Βηρσαβεε καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ἐνώπιον τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἔστη ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ
Et respondit rex David, dicens : Vocate ad me Bethsabee. Quae cum fuisset ingressa coram rege, et stetisset ante eum,
ወአውሥአ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወይቤ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ጸውዕዋ፡ ለቤርሳቤሕ፡ ወቦአት፡ ቅድመ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወቆመት፡ ቅድሜሁ።
Then King David answered, “Call Bathsheba in to me.” She came into the king’s presence and stood before the king.
1:29
וַיִּשָּׁבַ֥ע הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר חַי־יְהֹוָ֕ה אֲשֶׁר־פָּדָ֥ה אֶת־נַפְשִׁ֖י מִכׇּל־צָרָֽה׃
καὶ ὤμοσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ εἶπεν ζῇ κύριος ὃς ἐλυτρώσατο τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐκ πάσης θλίψεως
juravit rex, et ait : Vivit Dominus, qui eruit animam meam de omni angustia,
ወመሐለ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወይቤ፡ ሕያው፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘቤዘዋ፡ ለነፍስየ፡ እምነ፡ ኵሉ፡ ምንዳቤ ፤
The king vowed and said, “As Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
1:30
כִּ֡י כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ נִשְׁבַּ֨עְתִּי לָ֜ךְ בַּיהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר כִּֽי־שְׁלֹמֹ֤ה בְנֵךְ֙ יִמְלֹ֣ךְ אַחֲרַ֔י וְה֛וּא יֵשֵׁ֥ב עַל־כִּסְאִ֖י תַּחְתָּ֑י כִּ֛י כֵּ֥ן אֶעֱשֶׂ֖ה הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
ὅτι καθὼς ὤμοσά σοι ἐν κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ Ισραηλ λέγων ὅτι Σαλωμων ὁ υἱός σου βασιλεύσει μετ’ ἐμὲ καὶ αὐτὸς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου ἀντ’ ἐμοῦ ὅτι οὕτως ποιήσω τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ
quia sicut juravi tibi per Dominum Deum Israël, dicens : Salomon filius tuus regnabit post me, et ipse sedebit super solium meum pro me : sic faciam hodie.
ከመ፡ በከመ፡ መሐልኩ፡ ለኪ፡ በእግዚአብሔር፡ አምላከ፡ እስራኤል፡ እንዘ፡ እብል፡ ከመ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ ወልድኪ፡ ይነግሥ፡ እምድኅሬየ፡ ወውእቱ፡ ይነብር፡ ውስተ፡ መንበርየ፡ ህየንቴየ፡ ከመ፡ ከማሁ፡ እገብር፡ ዮም፡ በዛቲ፡ ዕለት።
most certainly as I swore to you by Yahweh, the God of Israel, saying, ‘Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place;’ I will most certainly do this today.”
1:31
וַתִּקֹּ֨ד בַּת־שֶׁ֤בַע אַפַּ֙יִם֙ אֶ֔רֶץ וַתִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ לַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַתֹּ֕אמֶר יְחִ֗י אֲדֹנִ֛י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִ֖ד לְעֹלָֽם׃ {פ}
καὶ ἔκυψεν Βηρσαβεε ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ εἶπεν ζήτω ὁ κύριός μου ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα
Summissoque Bethsabee in terram vultu, adoravit regem, dicens : Vivat dominus meus David in aeternum.
ወደነነት፡ ቤርሳቤሕ፡ በገጻ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ወሰገደት፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ወትቤ፡ ሕያው፡ እግዚእየ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ዳዊት፡ ለዓለም።
Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth and showed respect to the king, and said, “Let my lord King David live forever!”
1:32
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֗ד קִרְאוּ־לִ֞י לְצָד֤וֹק הַכֹּהֵן֙ וּלְנָתָ֣ן הַנָּבִ֔יא וְלִבְנָיָ֖הוּ בֶּן־יְהוֹיָדָ֑ע וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ καλέσατέ μοι Σαδωκ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ Ναθαν τὸν προφήτην καὶ Βαναιαν υἱὸν Ιωδαε καὶ εἰσῆλθον ἐνώπιον τοῦ βασιλέως
Dixit quoque rex David : Vocate mihi Sadoc sacerdotem, et Nathan prophetam, et Banaiam filium Jojadae. Qui cum ingressi fuissent coram rege,
ወይቤ፡ ዳዊት፡ ንጉሥ፡ ጸውዑ፡ ሊተ፡ ሳዶቅሃ፡ ካህነ፡ ወብንያስ፡ ወልደ፡ ዮዳሔ፡ ወቦኡ፡ ኀበ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወናታን፡ ነቢይ።
King David said, “Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada.” They came before the king.
1:33
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ לָהֶ֗ם קְח֤וּ עִמָּכֶם֙ אֶת־עַבְדֵ֣י אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֔ם וְהִרְכַּבְתֶּם֙ אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בְנִ֔י עַל־הַפִּרְדָּ֖ה אֲשֶׁר־לִ֑י וְהוֹרַדְתֶּ֥ם אֹת֖וֹ אֶל־גִּחֽוֹן׃
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς αὐτοῖς λάβετε τοὺς δούλους τοῦ κυρίου ὑμῶν μεθ’ ὑμῶν καὶ ἐπιβιβάσατε τὸν υἱόν μου Σαλωμων ἐπὶ τὴν ἡμίονον τὴν ἐμὴν καὶ καταγάγετε αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν Γιων
dixit ad eos : Tollite vobiscum servos domini vestri, et imponite Salomonem filium meum super mulam meam, et ducite eum in Gihon.
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ንሥኡ፡ አግብርተ፡ እግዚእክሙ፡ ምስሌክሙ፡ ወአጽዕንዎ፡ ለወልድየ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ ዲበ፡ በቅልየ፡ ወአውርድዎ፡ ውስተ፡ ግዮን።
The king said to them, “Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.
1:34
וּמָשַׁ֣ח אֹת֣וֹ שָׁ֠ם צָד֨וֹק הַכֹּהֵ֜ן וְנָתָ֧ן הַנָּבִ֛יא לְמֶ֖לֶךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וּתְקַעְתֶּם֙ בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֕ם יְחִ֖י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃
καὶ χρισάτω αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ Σαδωκ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης εἰς βασιλέα ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ σαλπίσατε κερατίνῃ καὶ ἐρεῖτε ζήτω ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαλωμων
Et ungat eum ibi Sadoc sacerdos et Nathan propheta in regem super Israël : et canetis buccina, atque dicetis : Vivat rex Salomon.
ወቅብእዎ፡ በህየ፡ ሳዶቅ፡ ካህን፡ ወናታን፡ ነቢይ፡ ወአንግሥዎ፡ ላዕለ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወንፍሑ፡ ቀርነ፡ ወበሉ፡ ሕያው፡ አበ፡ ነጋሢ፡ ሰሎሞን።
Let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel. Blow the trumpet, and say, ‘Long live King Solomon!’
1:35
וַעֲלִיתֶ֣ם אַחֲרָ֗יו וּבָא֙ וְיָשַׁ֣ב עַל־כִּסְאִ֔י וְה֥וּא יִמְלֹ֖ךְ תַּחְתָּ֑י וְאֹת֤וֹ צִוִּ֙יתִי֙ לִֽהְי֣וֹת נָגִ֔יד עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְעַל־יְהוּדָֽה׃
καὶ καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου καὶ αὐτὸς βασιλεύσει ἀντ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ ἐγὼ ἐνετειλάμην τοῦ εἶναι εἰς ἡγούμενον ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ Ιουδα
Et ascendetis post eum, et veniet, et sedebit super solium meum, et ipse regnabit pro me : illique praecipiam ut sit dux super Israël et super Judam.
ወዕርጉ፡ ወትልውዎ፡ ወይባእ፡ ወይንበር፡ ውስተ፡ መንበርየ፡ ወውእቱ፡ ይነግሥ፡ ህየንቴየ፡ ወአነ፡ አዘዝኩ፡ ይንግሥ፡ ላዕለ፡ እስራኤል፡ ወይሁዳ።
Then come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne; for he shall be king in my place. I have appointed him to be prince over Israel and over Judah.”
1:36
וַיַּ֨עַן בְּנָיָ֧הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹיָדָ֛ע אֶת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀אָמֵ֑ן כֵּ֚ן יֹאמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה אֱלֹהֵ֖י אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ εἶπεν γένοιτο οὕτως πιστώσαι κύριος ὁ θεὸς τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως
Et respondit Banaias filius Jojadae regi, dicens : Amen : sic loquatur Dominus Deus domini mei regis.
ወአውሥኦ፡ ብንያስ፡ ወልደ፡ ዮዳሔ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ወይኩን፡ ከማሁ፡ ምእመነ፡ ወይረሲ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለእግዚእየ፡ ለንጉሥ።
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, “Amen. May Yahweh, the God of my lord the king, say so.
1:37
כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר הָיָ֤ה יְהֹוָה֙ עִם־אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ כֵּ֖ן (יהי) [יִהְיֶ֣ה] עִם־שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וִֽיגַדֵּל֙ אֶת־כִּסְא֔וֹ מִ֨כִּסֵּ֔א אֲדֹנִ֖י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִֽד׃
καθὼς ἦν κύριος μετὰ τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως οὕτως εἴη μετὰ Σαλωμων καὶ μεγαλύναι τὸν θρόνον αὐτοῦ ὑπὲρ τὸν θρόνον τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως Δαυιδ
Quomodo fuit Dominus cum domino meo rege, sic sit cum Salomone, et sublimius faciat solium ejus a solio domini mei regis David.
በከመ፡ ሀለወ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ምስለ፡ እግዚእየ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ከማሁ፡ ምስለ፡ ሰሎሞንሂ፡ የሀሉ፡ ወይዕበይ፡ መንበሩ፡ እምነ፡ መንበረ፡ እግዚእየ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ዳዊት።
As Yahweh has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.”
1:38
וַיֵּ֣רֶד צָד֣וֹק הַ֠כֹּהֵ֠ן וְנָתָ֨ן הַנָּבִ֜יא וּבְנָיָ֣הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹיָדָ֗ע וְהַכְּרֵתִי֙ וְהַפְּלֵתִ֔י וַיַּרְכִּ֙בוּ֙ אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה עַל־פִּרְדַּ֖ת הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֑ד וַיֹּלִ֥כוּ אֹת֖וֹ עַל־גִּחֽוֹן׃
καὶ κατέβη Σαδωκ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης καὶ Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε καὶ ὁ χερεθθι καὶ ὁ φελεθθι καὶ ἐπεκάθισαν τὸν Σαλωμων ἐπὶ τὴν ἡμίονον τοῦ βασιλέως Δαυιδ καὶ ἀπήγαγον αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν Γιων
Descendit ergo Sadoc sacerdos, et Nathan propheta, et Banaias filius Jojadae, et Cerethi, et Phelethi : et imposuerunt Salomonem super mulam regis David, et adduxerunt eum in Gihon.
ወወረዱ፡ ሳዶቅ፡ ካህን፡ ወናታን፡ ነቢይ፡ ወብንያስ፡ ወልደ፡ ዮዳሔ፡ ወኬርቲ፡ ወፌልቲ፡ ወአጽዐንዎ፡ ለሰሎሞን፡ ላዕለ፡ በቅለ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወወሰድዎ፡ ውስተ፡ ግዮን።
So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon.
1:39
וַיִּקַּח֩ צָד֨וֹק הַכֹּהֵ֜ן אֶת־קֶ֤רֶן הַשֶּׁ֙מֶן֙ מִן־הָאֹ֔הֶל וַיִּמְשַׁ֖ח אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וַֽיִּתְקְעוּ֙ בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ כׇּל־הָעָ֔ם יְחִ֖י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃
καὶ ἔλαβεν Σαδωκ ὁ ἱερεὺς τὸ κέρας τοῦ ἐλαίου ἐκ τῆς σκηνῆς καὶ ἔχρισεν τὸν Σαλωμων καὶ ἐσάλπισεν τῇ κερατίνῃ καὶ εἶπεν πᾶς ὁ λαός ζήτω ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαλωμων
Sumpsitque Sadoc sacerdos cornu olei de tabernaculo, et unxit Salomonem : et cecinerunt buccina, et dixit omnis populus : Vivat rex Salomon.
ወነሥአ፡ ሳዶቅ፡ ካህን፡ ወአምጽአ፡ ቀርነ፡ ቅብእ፡ እምነ፡ ደብተራ፡ ወቀብኦ፡ ለሰሎሞን፡ ወነፍሐ፡ ቀርነ፡ ወይቤሉ፡ ኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ሕያው፡ አበ፡ ነጋሢ፡ ሰሎሞን።
Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the Tent, and anointed Solomon. They blew the trumpet; and all the people said, “Long live King Solomon!”
1:40
וַיַּעֲל֤וּ כׇל־הָעָם֙ אַחֲרָ֔יו וְהָעָם֙ מְחַלְּלִ֣ים בַּחֲלִלִ֔ים וּשְׂמֵחִ֖ים שִׂמְחָ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֑ה וַתִּבָּקַ֥ע הָאָ֖רֶץ בְּקוֹלָֽם׃
καὶ ἀνέβη πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐχόρευον ἐν χοροῖς καὶ εὐφραινόμενοι εὐφροσύνην μεγάλην καὶ ἐρράγη ἡ γῆ ἐν τῇ φωνῇ αὐτῶν
Et ascendit universa multitudo post eum, et populus canentium tibiis, et laetantium gaudio magno : et insonuit terra a clamore eorum.
ወዐርጉ፡ ኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ወተለውዎ፡ ወዘበጡ፡ ከበሮ፡ ወመሰንቆ፡ ወተፈሥሑ፡ ዐቢየ፡ ትፍሥሕተ፡ ወደንገፀት፡ ምድር፡ እምነ፡ ቃሎሙ።
All the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth shook with their sound.
1:41
וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע אֲדֹנִיָּ֗הוּ וְכׇל־הַקְּרֻאִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתּ֔וֹ וְהֵ֖ם כִּלּ֣וּ לֶאֱכֹ֑ל וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע יוֹאָב֙ אֶת־ק֣וֹל הַשּׁוֹפָ֔ר וַיֹּ֕אמֶר מַדּ֥וּעַ קֽוֹל־הַקִּרְיָ֖ה הוֹמָֽה׃
καὶ ἤκουσεν Αδωνιας καὶ πάντες οἱ κλητοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ αὐτοὶ συνετέλεσαν φαγεῖν καὶ ἤκουσεν Ιωαβ τὴν φωνὴν τῆς κερατίνης καὶ εἶπεν τίς ἡ φωνὴ τῆς πόλεως ἠχούσης
Audivit autem Adonias, et omnes qui invitati fuerant ab eo : jamque convivium finitum erat : sed et Joab, audita voce tubae, ait : Quid sibi vult clamor civitatis tumultuantis ?
ወሰምዐ፡ አዶንያስ፡ ወኵሎሙ፡ ኅሩያኒ[ሁ]፡ ወእሙንቱሰ፡ አኅለቁ፡ መሲሐ፡ ወሰምዐ፡ ኢዮአብ፡ ቃለ፡ ቀርን፡ ወይቤ፡ ምንት፡ ውእቱ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ድምፀ፡ ሀገር።
Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had finished eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, “Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?”
1:42
עוֹדֶ֣נּוּ מְדַבֵּ֔ר וְהִנֵּ֧ה יוֹנָתָ֛ן בֶּן־אֶבְיָתָ֥ר הַכֹּהֵ֖ן בָּ֑א וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲדֹנִיָּ֙הוּ֙ בֹּ֔א כִּ֣י אִ֥ישׁ חַ֛יִל אַ֖תָּה וְט֥וֹב תְּבַשֵּֽׂר׃
ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος καὶ ἰδοὺ Ιωναθαν υἱὸς Αβιαθαρ τοῦ ἱερέως ἦλθεν καὶ εἶπεν Αδωνιας εἴσελθε ὅτι ἀνὴρ δυνάμεως εἶ σύ καὶ ἀγαθὰ εὐαγγέλισαι
Adhuc illo loquente, Jonathas filius Abiathar sacerdotis venit : cui dixit Adonias : Ingredere, quia vir fortis es, et bona nuntians.
ወእንዘ፡ ዓዲ፡ ይትናገር፡ ወናሁ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወልደ፡ አብያታር፡ ካህን፡ ቦአ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ አዶንያስ፡ ባእ፡ እስመ፡ ብእሲ፡ ኀይል፡ አንተ፡ ወሠናየ፡ ትዜኑ።
While he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said, “Come in; for you are a worthy man, and bring good news.”
1:43
וַיַּ֙עַן֙ יֽוֹנָתָ֔ן וַיֹּ֖אמֶר לַאֲדֹנִיָּ֑הוּ אֲבָ֕ל אֲדֹנֵ֥ינוּ הַמֶּלֶךְ־דָּוִ֖ד הִמְלִ֥יךְ אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Ιωναθαν καὶ εἶπεν καὶ μάλα ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ ἐβασίλευσεν τὸν Σαλωμων
Responditque Jonathas Adoniae : Nequaquam : dominus enim noster rex David regem constituit Salomonem :
ወአውሥአ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወይቤ፡ አንግሦ፡ እግዚእነ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ዳዊት፡ ለሰሎሞን።
Jonathan answered Adonijah, “Most certainly our lord King David has made Solomon king.
1:44
וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח אִתּֽוֹ־הַ֠מֶּ֠לֶךְ אֶת־צָד֨וֹק הַכֹּהֵ֜ן וְאֶת־נָתָ֣ן הַנָּבִ֗יא וּבְנָיָ֙הוּ֙ בֶּן־יְה֣וֹיָדָ֔ע וְהַכְּרֵתִ֖י וְהַפְּלֵתִ֑י וַיַּרְכִּ֣בוּ אֹת֔וֹ עַ֖ל פִּרְדַּ֥ת הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς μετ’ αὐτοῦ τὸν Σαδωκ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ Ναθαν τὸν προφήτην καὶ Βαναιαν υἱὸν Ιωδαε καὶ τὸν χερεθθι καὶ τὸν φελεθθι καὶ ἐπεκάθισαν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν ἡμίονον τοῦ βασιλέως
misitque cum eo Sadoc sacerdotem, et Nathan prophetam, et Banaiam filium Jojadae, et Cerethi, et Phelethi, et imposuerunt eum super mulam regis.
ወፈነወ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ሳዶቅሃ፡ ካህን፡ ወናታንሃ፡ ነቢይ፡ ወብንያስ፡ ወልደ፡ ዮዳሔ፡ ወኬርቲ፡ ወፌልቲ፡ ወአጽዐንዎ፡ ዲበ፡ በቅለ፡ ንጉሥ።
The king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and they have caused him to ride on the king’s mule.
1:45
וַיִּמְשְׁח֣וּ אֹת֡וֹ צָד֣וֹק הַכֹּהֵ֣ן וְנָתָן֩ הַנָּבִ֨יא׀לְמֶ֜לֶךְ בְּגִח֗וֹן וַיַּעֲל֤וּ מִשָּׁם֙ שְׂמֵחִ֔ים וַתֵּהֹ֖ם הַקִּרְיָ֑ה ה֥וּא הַקּ֖וֹל אֲשֶׁ֥ר שְׁמַעְתֶּֽם׃
καὶ ἔχρισαν αὐτὸν Σαδωκ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης εἰς βασιλέα ἐν τῷ Γιων καὶ ἀνέβησαν ἐκεῖθεν εὐφραινόμενοι καὶ ἤχησεν ἡ πόλις αὕτη ἡ φωνή ἣν ἠκούσατε
Unxeruntque eum Sadoc sacerdos et Nathan propheta regem in Gihon : et ascenderunt inde laetantes, et insonuit civitas : haec est vox quam audistis.
ወቀብእዎ፡ ሳዶቅ፡ ካህን፡ ወናታን፡ ነቢይ፡ ወአንገሥዎ፡ በግዮን፡ ወዐርጉ፡ እምህየ፡ እንዘ፡ ይትፌሥሑ፡ ወደምፀት፡ ሀገር፡ ወዝንቱ፡ ውእቱ፡ ነገር፡ ዘሰማዕክሙ።
Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon. They have come up from there rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that you have heard.
1:46
וְגַם֙ יָשַׁ֣ב שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה עַ֖ל כִּסֵּ֥א הַמְּלוּכָֽה׃
καὶ ἐκάθισεν Σαλωμων ἐπὶ θρόνον τῆς βασιλείας
Sed et Salomon sedet super solium regni.
ወነበረ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ ውሰተ፡ መንበረ፡ መንግሥት።
Also, Solomon sits on the throne of the kingdom.
1:47
וְגַם־בָּ֜אוּ עַבְדֵ֣י הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ לְ֠בָרֵ֠ךְ אֶת־אֲדֹנֵ֜ינוּ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִד֮ לֵאמֹר֒ יֵיטֵ֨ב (אלהיך) [אֱלֹהִ֜ים] אֶת־שֵׁ֤ם שְׁלֹמֹה֙ מִשְּׁמֶ֔ךָ וִיגַדֵּ֥ל אֶת־כִּסְא֖וֹ מִכִּסְאֶ֑ךָ וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ עַל־הַמִּשְׁכָּֽב׃
καὶ εἰσῆλθον οἱ δοῦλοι τοῦ βασιλέως εὐλογῆσαι τὸν κύριον ἡμῶν τὸν βασιλέα Δαυιδ λέγοντες ἀγαθύναι ὁ θεὸς τὸ ὄνομα Σαλωμων τοῦ υἱοῦ σου ὑπὲρ τὸ ὄνομά σου καὶ μεγαλύναι τὸν θρόνον αὐτοῦ ὑπὲρ τὸν θρόνον σου καὶ προσεκύνησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐπὶ τὴν κοίτην αὐτοῦ
Et ingressi servi regis benedixerunt domino nostro regi David, dicentes : Amplificet Deus nomen Salomonis super nomen tuum, et magnificet thronus ejus super thronum tuum. Et adoravit rex in lectulo suo :
ወቦኡ፡ አግብርተ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ያእኵትዎ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ለእግዚእነ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወይቤልዎ፡ ያሠኒ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ላዕለ፡ ስሙ፡ ለሰሎሞን፡ ወልድከ፡ ፈድፋደ፡ እምነ፡ ስምከ፡ ወያዕብዮ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለመንበሩ፡ እምነ፡ መንበርከ ፤ ወሰገደ፡ ንጉሥ፡ በውስተ፡ ምስካቡ።
Moreover the king’s servants came to bless our lord King David, saying, ‘May your God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne;’ and the king bowed himself on the bed.
1:48
וְגַם־כָּ֖כָה אָמַ֣ר הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ בָּר֨וּךְ יְהֹוָ֜ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֥ן הַיּ֛וֹם יֹשֵׁ֥ב עַל־כִּסְאִ֖י וְעֵינַ֥י רֹאֽוֹת׃
καί γε οὕτως εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεύς εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ὃς ἔδωκεν σήμερον ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματός μου καθήμενον ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου βλέπουσιν
et locutus est : Benedictus Dominus Deus Israël, qui dedit hodie sedentem in solio meo, videntibus oculis meis.
ወንጉሥኒ፡ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ ይትባረክ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላከ፡ እስራኤል፡ ዘወሀበ፡ ዮም፡ እምነ፡ ዘርእየ፡ ዘይነብር፡ ዲበ፡ መንበርየ፡ እንዘ፡ ይሬእያ፡ አዕይንትየ።
Also thus said the king, ‘Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne today, my eyes even seeing it.’”
1:49
וַיֶּֽחֶרְדוּ֙ וַיָּקֻ֔מוּ כׇּ֨ל־הַקְּרֻאִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר לַאֲדֹנִיָּ֑הוּ וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ אִ֥ישׁ לְדַרְכּֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἐξέστησαν καὶ ἐξανέστησαν πάντες οἱ κλητοὶ τοῦ Αδωνιου καὶ ἀπῆλθον ἀνὴρ εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ
Territi sunt ergo, et surrexerunt omnes qui invitati fuerant ab Adonia, et ivit unusquisque in viam suam.
ወተንሥኡ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ኅሩያኒሁ፡ ለአዶንያስ፡ ወሖሩ፡ ብእሲ፡ ብእሲ፡ ፍኖቶ።
All the guests of Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and each man went his way.
1:50
וַאֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ יָרֵ֖א מִפְּנֵ֣י שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וַיָּ֣קׇם וַיֵּ֔לֶךְ וַֽיַּחֲזֵ֖ק בְּקַרְנ֥וֹת הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃
καὶ Αδωνιας ἐφοβήθη ἀπὸ προσώπου Σαλωμων καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ ἐπελάβετο τῶν κεράτων τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου
Adonias autem timens Salomonem, surrexit, et abiit, tenuitque cornu altaris.
ወአዶንያስ፡ ፈርሀ፡ እምነ፡ ቅድመ፡ ገጹ፡ ለሰሎሞን፡ ወተንሥአ፡ ወሖረ፡ ወአኀዘ፡ አቅርንተ፡ ምሥዋዕ።
Adonijah was afraid because of Solomon; and he arose, and went, and hung onto the horns of the altar.
1:51
וַיֻּגַּ֤ד לִשְׁלֹמֹה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הִנֵּה֙ אֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ יָרֵ֖א אֶת־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וְ֠הִנֵּ֠ה אָחַ֞ז בְּקַרְנ֤וֹת הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר יִשָּׁבַֽע־לִ֤י כַיּוֹם֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה אִם־יָמִ֥ית אֶת־עַבְדּ֖וֹ בֶּחָֽרֶב׃
καὶ ἀνηγγέλη τῷ Σαλωμων λέγοντες ἰδοὺ Αδωνιας ἐφοβήθη τὸν βασιλέα Σαλωμων καὶ κατέχει τῶν κεράτων τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου λέγων ὀμοσάτω μοι σήμερον ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαλωμων εἰ οὐ θανατώσει τὸν δοῦλον αὐτοῦ ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ
Et nuntiaverunt Salomoni, dicentes : Ecce Adonias timens regem Salomonem, tenuit cornu altaris, dicens : Juret mihi rex Salomon hodie, quod non interficiat servum suum gladio.
ወአይድዕዎ፡ ለሰሎሞን፡ ወይቤልዎ፡ ናሁ፡ አዶንያስ፡ ፈርህ፡ እምነ፡ ገጸ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ ወአኀዘ፡ አቅርንተ፡ ምሥዋዕ፡ ወይቤ፡ ይምሐል፡ ሊተ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ ዮም፡ ከመ፡ ኢይቅትለኒ፡ በኀፂን።
Solomon was told, “Behold, Adonijah fears King Solomon; for, behold, he is hanging onto the horns of the altar, saying, ‘Let King Solomon swear to me first that he will not kill his servant with the sword.’”
1:52
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה אִ֚ם יִהְיֶ֣ה לְבֶן־חַ֔יִל לֹא־יִפֹּ֥ל מִשַּׂעֲרָת֖וֹ אָ֑רְצָה וְאִם־רָעָ֥ה תִמָּֽצֵא־ב֖וֹ וָמֵֽת׃
καὶ εἶπεν Σαλωμων ἐὰν γένηται εἰς υἱὸν δυνάμεως εἰ πεσεῖται τῶν τριχῶν αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ ἐὰν κακία εὑρεθῇ ἐν αὐτῷ θανατωθήσεται
Dixitque Salomon : Si fuerit vir bonus, non cadet ne unus quidem capillus ejus in terram : sin autem malum inventum fuerit in eo, morietur.
ወይቤ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ እመ፡ ኮነ፡ ወልደ፡ ኀይል፡ ኢትወድቅ፡ እምነ፡ ሥዕርቱ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ወእመሰ፡ ተረክበት፡ እኪት፡ በላዕሌሁ፡ ይመውት።
Solomon said, “If he shows himself a worthy man, not a hair of his shall fall to the earth; but if wickedness is found in him, he shall die.”
1:53
וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה וַיּוֹרִדֻ֙הוּ֙ מֵעַ֣ל הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ וַיָּבֹ֕א וַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וַיֹּאמֶר־ל֥וֹ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה לֵ֥ךְ לְבֵיתֶֽךָ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαλωμων καὶ κατήνεγκεν αὐτὸν ἀπάνωθεν τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου καὶ εἰσῆλθεν καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ βασιλεῖ Σαλωμων καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Σαλωμων δεῦρο εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου
Misit ergo rex Salomon, et eduxit eum ab altari : et ingressus adoravit regem Salomonem : dixitque ei Salomon : Vade in domum tuam.
ወለአከ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወአውረድዎ፡ እምነ፡ መልዕልተ፡ ምሥዋዕ፡ ወቦአ፡ ወሰገደ፡ ለሰሎሞን፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ እቱ፡ ቤተከ።
So King Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. He came and bowed down to King Solomon; and Solomon said to him, “Go to your house.”
