10:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Οὐ θέλω γὰρ ὑμᾶς ἀγνοεῖν , ἀδελφοί , ὅτι οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν πάντες ὑπὸ τὴν νεφέλην ἦσαν καὶ πάντες διὰ τῆς θαλάσσης διῆλθον ,
Nolo enim vos ignorare fratres , quoniam patres nostri omnes sub nube fuerunt , et omnes mare transierunt ,
ወእፈቅድ ለክሙ ታእምሩ አኀዊነ እስመ ለኵሎሙ አበዊነ ጸለሎሙ ደመና ወኵሎሙ ኀለፉ ማእከለ ባሕር ።
Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
10:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ πάντες εἰς τὸν Μωϋσῆν ἐβαπτίσθησαν ἐν τῇ νεφέλῃ καὶ ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ ,
et omnes in Moyse baptizati sunt in nube , et in mari :
ወለኵሎሙ አጥመቆሙ ሙሴ በደመና ወበባሕር ።
and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
10:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ πάντες τὸ αὐτὸ πνευματικὸν βρῶμα ἔφαγον ,
et omnes eamdem escam spiritalem manducaverunt ,
ወኵሎሙ ተሴሰዩ እክለ ዘመንፈስ ቅዱስ ።
and all ate the same spiritual food;
10:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ πάντες τὸ αὐτὸ πνευματικὸν ἔπιον πόμα · ἔπινον γὰρ ἐκ πνευματικῆς ἀκολουθούσης πέτρας , ἡ πέτρα δὲ ἦν ὁ Χριστός .
et omnes eumdem potum spiritalem biberunt (bibebant autem de spiritali , consequente eos , petra : petra autem erat Christus ) :
ወኵሎሙ ሰትዩ ስቴ መንፈሳዌ ዘውእቱ ዘሰትዩ እምኰኵሕ መንፈሳዊት እንተ ተሐውር ድኅሬሆሙ ወኰኵሕሰ ክርስቶስ ውእቱ ።
and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.
10:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀλλ’ οὐκ ἐν τοῖς πλείοσιν αὐτῶν εὐδόκησεν ὁ θεός , κατεστρώθησαν γὰρ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ .
sed non in pluribus eorum beneplacitum est Deo : nam prostrati sunt in deserto .
ወአኮ ለኵሎሙ ዘኀረዮሙ እግዚአብሔር ወመብዝኅቶሙ ተነጽሑ በገዳም ።
However with most of them, God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
10:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ταῦτα δὲ τύποι ἡμῶν ἐγενήθησαν , εἰς τὸ μὴ εἶναι ἡμᾶς ἐπιθυμητὰς κακῶν , καθὼς κἀκεῖνοι ἐπεθύμησαν .
Haec autem in figura facta sunt nostri , ut non simus concupiscentes malorum , sicut et illi concupierunt .
ወዝኒ ዘረከቦሙ ከመ ይኩኑክሙ እሙንቱ አርኣያ ከመ አንትሙኒ ኢትፍትዉ እኩየ ከመ ፈተዉ እሙንቱ ።
Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
10:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ μηδὲ εἰδωλολάτραι γίνεσθε , καθώς τινες αὐτῶν · ὥσπερ γέγραπται , ἐκάθισεν ὁ λαὸς φαγεῖν καὶ πεῖν , καὶ ἀνέστησαν παίζειν .
Neque idololatrae efficiamini , sicut quidam ex ipsis : quemadmodum scriptum est : Sedit populus manducare , et bibere , et surrexerunt ludere .
ወኢታምልኩ ጣዖተ በከመ አምለኩ እሙንቱ በከመ ይቤ መጽሐፍ «ነበሩ ሕዝብ ይበልዑ ወይሰትዩ ወተንሥኡ ይዝፍኑ ።»
Don’t be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”
10:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ μηδὲ πορνεύωμεν , καθώς τινες αὐτῶν ἐπόρνευσαν , καὶ ἔπεσαν μιᾷ ἡμέρᾳ εἴκοσιτρεῖς χιλιάδες .
Neque fornicemur , sicut quidam ex ipsis fornicati sunt , et ceciderunt una die viginti tria millia .
ወኢትዘምዉ ይቤልዎሙ ወቦ እለ ዘመዉ እምውስቴቶሙ ወሞቱ በአሐቲ ዕለት ክልኤ እልፍ ወዕሥራ ምእት ።
Let’s not commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.
10:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ μηδὲ ἐκπειράζωμεν τὸν κύριον , καθώς τινες αὐτῶν ἐξεπείρασαν , καὶ ὑπὸ τῶν ὄφεων ἀπώλλυντο .
Neque tentemus Christum , sicut quidam eorum tentaverunt , et a serpentibus perierunt .
ወኢታመክርዎ ለእግዚአብሔር ይቤልዎሙ ወአመከርዎ ወአጥፍኦሙ አርዌ ምድር ።
Let’s not test Christ, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents.
10:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ μηδὲ γογγύζετε , καθάπερ τινὲς αὐτῶν ἐγόγγυσαν , καὶ ἀπώλοντο ὑπὸ τοῦ ὀλοθρευτοῦ .
Neque murmuraveritis , sicut quidam eorum murmuraverunt , et perierunt ab exterminatore .
ወኢታንጐርጕሩ ይቤልዎሙ «ወአንጐርጐሩ ወአኅለቆሙ ብድብድ ።»
Don’t grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.
10:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ ταῦτα δὲ τυπικῶς συνέβαινεν ἐκείνοις , ἐγράφη δὲ πρὸς νουθεσίαν ἡμῶν , εἰς οὓς τὰ τέλη τῶν αἰώνων κατήντηκεν .
Haec autem omnia in figura contingebant illis : scripta sunt autem ad correptionem nostram , in quos fines saeculorum devenerunt .
ዝንቱ ኵሉ ዘረከቦሙ ለእልክቱ ምሳሌ ተጽሕፈ ለአእምሮ ወለተግሣጸ ዚኣነ እለ በደኃሪ መዋዕል ።
Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come.
10:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὥστε ὁ δοκῶν ἑστάναι βλεπέτω μὴ πέσῃ .
Itaque qui se existimat stare , videat ne cadat .
ወይእዜኒ ዝኩ ዘይትአመን ርእሶ ከመ ይቀውም ውእቱ ለይትዐቀብ ከመ ኢይደቅ ።
Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn’t fall.
10:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ πειρασμὸς ὑμᾶς οὐκ εἴληφεν εἰ μὴ ἀνθρώπινος · πιστὸς δὲ ὁ θεός , ὃς οὐκ ἐάσει ὑμᾶς πειρασθῆναι ὑπὲρ ὃ δύνασθε , ἀλλὰ ποιήσει σὺν τῷ πειρασμῷ καὶ τὴν ἔκβασιν τοῦ δύνασθαι ὑπενεγκεῖν .
Tentatio vos non apprehendat nisi humana : fidelis autem Deus est , qui non patietur vos tentari supra id quod potestis , sed faciet etiam cum tentatione proventum ut possitis sustinere .
ወመንሱትሰ ኢይረክበክሙ ዘእንበለ እምሰብእ ዳእሙ እኩት እግዚአብሔር ዘኢኀደገክሙ ትትመንሰዉ ዘእንበለ ዳእሙ በዘትክሉ ጸዊረ ወተዐግሦ ወይረድአክሙ በመከራ ከመ ትፃኡ እመንሱት ።
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
10:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ Διόπερ , ἀγαπητοί μου , φεύγετε ἀπὸ τῆς εἰδωλολατρείας .
Propter quod , carissimi mihi , fugite ab idolorum cultura :
ወይእዜኒ አኀዊነ ጕዩ እምአማልክት ።
Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
10:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς φρονίμοις λέγω · κρίνατε ὑμεῖς ὅ φημι .
ut prudentibus loquor , vos ipsi judicate quod dico .
ወፍትሑ ከመ ጠቢባን በዘይረትዕ እብለክሙ ።
I speak as to wise men. Judge what I say.
10:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ τὸ ποτήριον τῆς εὐλογίας ὃ εὐλογοῦμεν , οὐχὶ κοινωνία τοῦ αἵματος τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐστιν ; τὸν ἄρτον ὃν κλῶμεν , οὐχὶ κοινωνία τοῦ σώματος τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐστιν ;
Calix benedictionis , cui benedicimus , nonne communicatio sanguinis Christi est ? et panis quem frangimus , nonne participatio corporis Domini est ?
ዝንቱ ጽዋዐ በረከት ዘንባርክ አኮኑ ሱታፌ ደሙ ለክርስቶስ ውእቱ ወዝኒ ኅብስት ዘንፌትት አኮኑ ሱታፌ ሥጋሁ ለክርስቶስ ውእቱ ።
The cup of blessing which we bless, isn’t it a sharing of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, isn’t it a sharing of the body of Christ?
10:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι εἷς ἄρτος , ἓν σῶμα οἱ πολλοί ἐσμεν · οἱ γὰρ πάντες ἐκ τοῦ ἑνὸς ἄρτου μετέχομεν .
Quoniam unus panis , unum corpus multi sumus , omnes qui de uno pane participamus .
ወበከመ አሐዱ ኅብስት ከማሁ አሐዱ ሥጋ ንሕነ እንዘ ብዙኃን እስመ ኵልነ እምአሐዱ ኅብስት ንነሥእ ።
Because there is one loaf of bread, we, who are many, are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf of bread.
10:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ βλέπετε τὸν Ἰσραὴλ κατὰ σάρκα · οὐχ οἱ ἐσθίοντες τὰς θυσίας κοινωνοὶ τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου εἰσίν ;
Videte Israël secundum carnem : nonne qui edunt hostias , participes sunt altaris ?
ርእይዎሙ ለእስራኤል ዘሥጋ ይበልዑ መሥዋዕተ ወይከውኑ ሱቱፋኒሁ ለምሥዋዕ ።
Consider Israel according to the flesh. Don’t those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?
10:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ τί οὖν φημί ; ὅτι εἰδωλόθυτόν τί ἐστιν ; ἢ ὅτι εἴδωλόν τί ἐστιν ;
Quid ergo ? dico quod idolis immolatum sit aliquid ? aut quod idolum , sit aliquid ?
ወምንተ እንከ ንብል ዘሂ ይዘብሑ ለአማልክት ከንቱ ወአማልክቲሆሙኒ ከንቱ ።
What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
10:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀλλ’ ὅτι ἃ θύουσιν , δαιμονίοις καὶ οὐ θεῷ θύουσιν , οὐ θέλω δὲ ὑμᾶς κοινωνοὺς τῶν δαιμονίων γίνεσθαι .
Sed quae immolant gentes , daemoniis immolant , et non Deo . Nolo autem vos socios fieri daemoniorum :
ወአሕዛብኒ ዘይዘብሑ ለአጋንንት ወአኮ ለእግዚአብሔር ወባሕቱ ኢይፈቅድ ለክሙ ትኩኑ ሱቱፋነ አጋንንት ።
But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I don’t desire that you would have fellowship with demons.
10:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐ δύνασθε ποτήριον κυρίου πίνειν καὶ ποτήριον δαιμονίων · οὐ δύνασθε τραπέζης κυρίου μετέχειν καὶ τραπέζης δαιμονίων .
non potestis calicem Domini bibere , et calicem daemoniorum ; non potestis mensae Domini participes esse , et mensae daemoniorum .
ወኢትክሉ ሰቲየ ጽዋዐ እግዚአብሔር ወጽዋዐ አጋንንት ወኢትክሉ በሊዐ ማእደ እግዚአብሔር ወማእደ አጋንንት ።
You can’t both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can’t both partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons.
10:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἢ παραζηλοῦμεν τὸν κύριον ; μὴ ἰσχυρότεροι αὐτοῦ ἐσμεν ;
An aemulamur Dominum ? numquid fortiores illo sumus ? Omnia mihi licent , sed non omnia expediunt .
ናቅንኦኑ እንከ ለእግዚአብሔር ቦኑ ንጸንዕ እምኔሁ ።
Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
10:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ Πάντα ἔξεστιν , ἀλλ’ οὐ πάντα συμφέρει · πάντα ἔξεστιν , ἀλλ’ οὐ πάντα οἰκοδομεῖ .
Omnia mihi licent , sed non omnia aedificat .
ወኵሉ ይከውነኒ ወኵሉሰ አኮ ርቱዕ ወኵሉ ብውሕ ሊተ ወባሕቱ አኮ ኵሉ ዘየሐንጽ ።
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are profitable. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things build up.
10:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ μηδεὶς τὸ ἑαυτοῦ ζητείτω ἀλλὰ τὸ τοῦ ἑτέρου .
Nemo quod suum est quaerat , sed quod alterius .
ኢታድልዉ ለርእስክሙ ዘእንበለ ለቢጽክሙ ።
Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor’s good.
10:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ πᾶν τὸ ἐν μακέλλῳ πωλούμενον ἐσθίετε μηδὲν ἀνακρίνοντες διὰ τὴν συνείδησιν ,
Omne quod in macello venit , manducate , nihil interrogantes propter conscientiam .
ወዓዲ ኵሎ ዘይሠይጡ በምሥያጥ ብልዑ ወኢትሕትቱ ።
Whatever is sold in the butcher shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience,
10:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦ κυρίου γὰρ ἡ γῆ καὶ τὸ πλήρωμα αὐτῆς .
Domini est terra , et plenitudo ejus .
እስመ ለእግዚአብሔር ምድር በምልኣ ።
for “the earth is the Lord’s, and its fullness.”
10:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἴ τις καλεῖ ὑμᾶς τῶν ἀπίστων καὶ θέλετε πορεύεσθαι , πᾶν τὸ παρατιθέμενον ὑμῖν ἐσθίετε μηδὲν ἀνακρίνοντες διὰ τὴν συνείδησιν .
Si quis vocat vos infidelium , et vultis ire : omne quod vobis apponitur , manducate , nihil interrogantes propter conscientiam .
ወለእመ ቦ ዘጸውዐክሙ ዘኢየአምን ወፈቀድክሙ ትሑሩ ኵሎ ዘአቅረቡ ለክሙ ብልዑ ወኢትሕትቱ ።
But if one of those who don’t believe invites you to a meal, and you are inclined to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for the sake of conscience.
10:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐὰν δέ τις ὑμῖν εἴπῃ , τοῦτο ἱερόθυτόν ἐστιν , μὴ ἐσθίετε δι’ ἐκεῖνον τὸν μηνύσαντα καὶ τὴν συνείδησιν
Si quis autem dixerit : Hoc immolatum est idolis : nolite manducare propter illum qui indicavit , et propter conscientiam :
ወእመሰ ቦ ዘይቤለክሙ እስመ ዝንቱ ዝቡሕ ለአማልክት ኢትብልዑ እንከ በእንተ ዘይቤለክሙ ወበእንተ ትሕዝብተ ቢጽክሙ ።
But if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” don’t eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience. For “the earth is the Lord’s, with all its fullness.”
10:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ συνείδησιν δὲ λέγω οὐχὶ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ἀλλὰ τὴν τοῦ ἑτέρου . ἱνατί γὰρ ἡ ἐλευθερία μου κρίνεται ὑπὸ ἄλλης συνειδήσεως ;
conscientiam autem dico non tuam , sed alterius . Ut quid enim libertas mea judicatur ab aliena conscientia ?
እስመ ቀጸቡክሙ ከመ ኢይግአዝዋ ለግዕዛንክሙ ።
Conscience, I say, not your own, but the other’s conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?
10:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ ἐγὼ χάριτι μετέχω , τί βλασφημοῦμαι ὑπὲρ οὗ ἐγὼ εὐχαριστῶ ;
Si ego cum gratia participo , quid blasphemor pro eo quod gratias ago ?
ወእመሰ በአእኵቶ እበልዕ ለምንት ይፀርፉ ላዕሌየ ።
If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for something I give thanks for?
10:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἴτε οὖν ἐσθίετε εἴτε πίνετε εἴτε τι ποιεῖτε , πάντα εἰς δόξαν θεοῦ ποιεῖτε .
Sive ergo manducatis , sive bibitis , sive aliud quid facitis : omnia in gloriam Dei facite .
ወእመኒ በላዕክሙ ወእመኒ ሰተይክሙ ወኵሎ ዘገበርክሙ በአኰቴተ እግዚአብሔር ግበሩ ።
Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
10:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπρόσκοποι καὶ Ἰουδαίοις γίνεσθε καὶ Ἕλλησιν καὶ τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ ,
Sine offensione estote Judaeis , et gentibus , et ecclesiae Dei :
ወኩንዎሙ አርኣያ ዘእንበለ ዕቅፍት ለአይሁድ ወለአረሚ ወለሕዝበ እግዚአብሔር ።
Give no occasion for stumbling, whether to Jews, to Greeks, or to the assembly of God;
10:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ καθὼς κἀγὼ πάντα πᾶσιν ἀρέσκω , μὴ ζητῶν τὸ ἐμαυτοῦ σύμφορον ἀλλὰ τὸ τῶν πολλῶν , ἵνα σωθῶσιν .
sicut et ego per omnia omnibus placeo , non quaerens quod mihi utile est , sed quod multis : ut salvi fiant .
በከመ በኵሉ አደሉ አነ እስመ ተድላ ብዙኃን አኀሥሥ በዘየሐይዉ ወአኮ ተድላ ርእስየ ዘአኀሥሥ ።
even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.
