"Learn from me, for I am meek and humble in heart"
1:1986⧉ ⤴︎
祂也在自己的作為中證實了這謙和;
And he gave proof of his meekness in his very works;
1:1987⧉ ⤴︎

The sharpened arrows of the mighty one are the well-aimed words, which reach the heart of those who hear, striking and wounding sensitive souls.
1:1990⧉ ⤴︎
"For the words of the wise," it says, "are like goads"
1:1991⧉ ⤴︎
但祂也要求有曠野的炭火在旁;
But he also seeks that the coals of the desert be present;
1:1992⧉ ⤴︎
so that for as many as the rational arrows fail to reach, because of the hardness of their heart, for these the punishment is ready, which he also called "coals of the desert."
1:1993⧉ ⤴︎
For as many as have made themselves desolate of God, for these the preparation of the coals of the desert is necessary.
1:1994⧉ ⤴︎

By these arrows the souls that have received the faith are wounded, and having been set aflame unto the utmost love of God, they say, like the bride, "I am wounded with love."
1:1996⧉ ⤴︎

Indescribable and ineffable is the beauty of the Word, and the comeliness of Wisdom, and the form of God in his image.
1:1997⧉ ⤴︎

也忘記了家業與一切財產;
and they forget house and all possessions;

and forgetting also the bodily necessity of eating and drinking, they cling only to the divine and pure love.
1:2001⧉ ⤴︎
你也可以將「磨快的箭」理解為那些被差遣、將福音撒遍普天下的人;
You may also understand as sharpened arrows those who were sent out to sow the Gospel throughout the whole inhabited world;
1:2002⧉ ⤴︎

who, because they had been sharpened, shone with works of righteousness, and subtly made their way into the souls of those they taught;
1:2003⧉ ⤴︎

for these arrows, sent forth everywhere, prepared the peoples to fall down beneath Christ.
1:2004⧉ ⤴︎

No one who fights against God, and is boastful and proud, falls down beneath God, but only those who have accepted subjection through faith.
1:2007⧉ ⤴︎
But the arrows, having fallen into the hearts of those who were once enemies of the king, draw them into longing for the truth, draw them toward the Lord, so that, though they were enemies to God, they are reconciled to him through the teachings.
1:2008⧉ ⤴︎

"therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your companions."
1:2012⧉ ⤴︎
Since he had discoursed at length, dwelling on the human aspect, he now leads the discourse back up to the heights of the glory concerning the Only-Begotten.
1:2013⧉ ⤴︎
經上說:「神啊,你的寶座是永永遠遠的」;
"Your throne," he says, "O God, is forever and ever;"
1:2014⧉ ⤴︎
that is, your kingdom is beyond the ages, and is older than every conception.
1:2015⧉ ⤴︎
And fittingly, after the subjection of the peoples, he hymns the magnificence of the kingdom of God.
1:2016⧉ ⤴︎
"A scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom."
1:2017⧉ ⤴︎
神的杖,可以說是一根管教的杖;
The rod of God is, in a sense, a disciplinary rod;
1:2018⧉ ⤴︎
and in disciplining, it brings straight and not distorted judgments.
1:2019⧉ ⤴︎
"For if his sons forsake my law, and do not walk in my judgments, I will visit their transgressions with a rod"
1:2020⧉ ⤴︎
Do you see the righteous judgment of God? He does not exercise it upon random persons, but upon those who sin.
1:2021⧉ ⤴︎
這杖也被稱為安慰之杖;
And this is also called the rod of comfort;
1:2022⧉ ⤴︎
"For your rod," it says, "and your staff"
1:2023⧉ ⤴︎
This is also a rod of shattering.
1:2024⧉ ⤴︎
"For you shall shepherd them with a rod of iron, you shall shatter them like a potter's vessel."
1:2025⧉ ⤴︎
那些屬土屬泥的東西被摔碎,是為了牧養對象的益處;
And earthen and clay-like things are shattered for the benefit of those being shepherded;
1:2026⧉ ⤴︎
Since it was necessary to give form to the typological anointing, and to the typological high priests and kings, the flesh of the Lord was anointed with the true anointing, through the visitation of the Holy Spirit upon it, which is called the oil of gladness.
1:2027⧉ ⤴︎
祂受膏,勝過祂的同伴;
And he was anointed above his companions;
1:2028⧉ ⤴︎
that is, above all men who partake of Christ.
1:2029⧉ ⤴︎
And fittingly the Spirit is called the oil of gladness, since joy also is one of the fruits cultivated by the Holy Spirit.
1:2030⧉ ⤴︎
But since the discourse concerning the Savior is mixed, both because of the nature of his deity and the economy of his incarnation, looking again to the human element of God, he says:
1:2031⧉ ⤴︎
You have loved righteousness and hated iniquity.
1:2032⧉ ⤴︎
意即:其餘世人往往要藉著勞苦、苦修與殷勤留意,才能成就向善的心志,並養成厭棄邪惡的傾向;
That is to say: the rest of mankind often succeed, through toil and ascetic discipline and much attentiveness, in acquiring a disposition toward the good, and an aversion to what is base;
1:2033⧉ ⤴︎
but for you, affinity for the good is something natural, and estrangement from iniquity likewise.
1:2034⧉ ⤴︎
And for us too it is not difficult, if we are willing, to take up love for righteousness and hatred for iniquity.
1:2035⧉ ⤴︎
因為神將各樣能力都有益地賜給了有理性的靈魂;
For God gave every faculty to the rational soul for a useful purpose;
1:2036⧉ ⤴︎
正如賜下了愛的能力,也同樣賜下了恨的能力;
just as the faculty of loving, so also the faculty of hating;
1:2037⧉ ⤴︎
so that, guided by reason, we might love virtue and hate vice.
1:2038⧉ ⤴︎
For there is indeed a time when it is even praiseworthy to make use of hatred.
1:2039⧉ ⤴︎
"Have I not hated those who hate you, O Lord, and pined away because of your enemies? I hated them with a perfect hatred."
1:2040⧉ ⤴︎
"Myrrh, and stacte, and cassia breathe from your garments, from ivory palaces, by which the daughters of kings have gladdened you, in your honor."
1:2041⧉ ⤴︎
先知的話語依序漸次下降,藉著那向他啟示隱秘之事的聖靈之凝視,已預先觸及了整個救恩安排中的一切事件,如今便來到受難之事;
The prophetic word, descending accordingly in due order, and having already touched upon all the events of the dispensation by the Spirit's intent gaze which reveals to him the hidden things, now comes to the Passion;
1:2042⧉ ⤴︎
For it says, "Myrrh, and stacte, and cassia from your garments."
1:2043⧉ ⤴︎
That myrrh is a symbol of burial, John the evangelist has taught us, saying that he was buried by Joseph of Arimathea with myrrh and aloes.
1:2044⧉ ⤴︎
And stacte is itself likewise a kind of myrrh, the finest of it.
1:2045⧉ ⤴︎
因為當這香料被壓榨出來時,凡屬其中流質的部分,就被分出來成為沉香;
For when the spice is pressed out, whatever of it is liquid is set apart as stacte;
1:2046⧉ ⤴︎
while what remains, the thicker part, is called myrrh.
1:2047⧉ ⤴︎
Thus the fragrance of Christ breathes forth the scent of myrrh on account of the Passion, and of stacte on account of his not remaining motionless or inactive during the three days and three nights, but descending into Hades for the sake of the dispensation concerning the resurrection, that he might fill all things with himself.
1:2048⧉ ⤴︎
And it breathes forth the scent of cassia, because cassia is a certain very thin and fragrant bark, wrapped around a woody stem.
1:2049⧉ ⤴︎
Might it not be, then, that the passion of the cross, undertaken for the benefit of all creation, is what the word has profoundly and wisely hinted at through the name of cassia?
1:2050⧉ ⤴︎
You have, then, myrrh on account of the burial, stacte on account of the descent into Hades (since every drop is carried downward), and cassia on account of the dispensation of the flesh upon the wood.
1:2051⧉ ⤴︎
And for this reason it says, "The daughters of kings have gladdened you in your honor."
1:2052⧉ ⤴︎
And who would the daughters of kings be, but noble and great and royal souls? who, having come to know Christ through his condescension to human affairs, gladdened him in his honor, glorifying his divinity in true faith and perfect love.

And it says that these spices are present on the garments of Christ (that is, the parable of his words and the composition of the doctrines) not in a meager measure, but as borne from whole edifices.

For by "palaces" it means the greatest of houses, and that these are constructed of ivory—the prophet thereby teaching, I think, the richness of Christ's love for the world.

He is now speaking of the Church, concerning whom we have learned in the Song of Songs that she is the one perfect dove of Christ, who receives into Christ's right-hand place those who are recognized by good works, distinguishing them from the base, just as the shepherd distinguishes the lambs from the goats.

於是,那王后便站立在旁——她就是那與新郎般的道相配合的靈魂,不受罪的轄制,反倒有分於基督的國度——站在救主的右邊,身穿金縷的衣裳;
The queen, then, stands present—the soul that has been fitted to the bridal Word, not ruled by sin, but partaking of the kingdom of Christ—at the right hand of the Savior, in gold-woven raiment;

And since the doctrines are not of one single kind, but various and manifold—containing moral, natural, and what are called contemplative discourses—for this reason the word says that the bride's raiment is many-colored.

and therefore they are accounted of equal honor with them, from having done the same things as those, on account of which the fathers were deemed worthy of such great honors.
1:2121⧉ ⤴︎
He gave to Jacob authority over Esau.
1:2122⧉ ⤴︎
Be, it says, lord over your brother.
1:2123⧉ ⤴︎
Those, then, who have become of equal honor with the fathers, and have gained preeminence over all through the practice of virtue, are both sons of the bride of Christ, and are established by their own mother as rulers over all the earth.
1:2124⧉ ⤴︎
Consider for me the authority of the queen, how great it is upon her;
1:2125⧉ ⤴︎
to appoint rulers over all the earth.
1:2126⧉ ⤴︎
I will remember your name in every generation and generation.
1:2127⧉ ⤴︎
Above all, this word is spoken as though from the person of the Church, that: I will remember your name in every generation and generation.
1:2128⧉ ⤴︎
And what is the remembrance of the Church? The confession of the peoples.
1:2129⧉ ⤴︎
Unto the end. Concerning the sons of Korah:
1:2130⧉ ⤴︎
This psalm seems to me to contain a prophecy concerning the things pertaining to the end.
1:2131⧉ ⤴︎
Knowing this very end, Paul also says:
1:2132⧉ ⤴︎
Then comes the end, when he delivers up the kingdom to God and the Father.
1:2133⧉ ⤴︎
又或者,因為我們的行為引領我們走向各自的終局:善行引向真福,惡行則引向永刑;
Or, since our actions lead us toward an end, each toward the end proper to itself — the good action toward blessedness, and the wicked toward eternal condemnation;
1:2134⧉ ⤴︎
而聖靈在這篇詩篇中所賜下的勸勉,則引導那些聽從的人走向美好的終局;
and the counsels delivered by the Spirit in this psalm lead those who obey toward the good end;
1:2135⧉ ⤴︎
因此之故,標題為「至終」;
for this reason it is inscribed 'Unto the end;'
1:2136⧉ ⤴︎
since the reference of the teachings is directed toward the blessed end of human life.
1:2137⧉ ⤴︎
這篇詩篇也是為可拉的子孫所說的,聖靈並不將他們分開,因為他們彷彿出於同一個靈魂、同一個聲音,彼此之間完全和諧一致地發出這些預言之言;
This psalm too is spoken for the sons of Korah, whom the Holy Spirit does not divide, because, as though with one soul and one voice and complete concord toward one another, they uttered the prophetic words;
1:2138⧉ ⤴︎
none of them prophesying anything different from the rest, but the gift of prophecy being granted to them equally, on account of the equality of their disposition toward one another in what is good.
1:2139⧉ ⤴︎
這篇詩篇是論到隱秘之事而說的;
And the psalm is spoken concerning hidden things;
1:2140⧉ ⤴︎
that is, concerning things unspeakable, and things hidden in mystery.
1:2141⧉ ⤴︎
當你逐一查考這篇詩篇的各句經文時,你就會明白這些話語中隱藏的意義;
But when you come to the particular sayings of the psalm, you will learn the hidden meaning of the words;
1:2142⧉ ⤴︎
and that it is not for just anyone to see into the divine mysteries, but only for one who is able to become a harmonious instrument of the promise, so that, instead of a psaltery, his soul is moved by the Holy Spirit working within it.
1:2143⧉ ⤴︎
God is our refuge and strength, a helper in the tribulations that have found us exceedingly.
1:2144⧉ ⤴︎
Every man needs much help, on account of the weakness that naturally belongs to him, since many grievous and toilsome things befall him.
1:2145⧉ ⤴︎
因此人尋求從一切艱難處境中得著避難之所,就如逃往一處不可侵犯之地,或逃向一座被堅固城牆環繞的陡峭山頂,以躲避仇敵的侵襲;
Seeking, then, refuge from all his circumstances, as one fleeing to an inviolable place, or taking refuge upon some steep peak encircled by a strong wall, because of the onslaught of enemies;
1:2146⧉ ⤴︎
so he takes refuge in God, considering that the only rest is abiding in him.
1:2147⧉ ⤴︎
That refuge in God, then, is confessed by all; but the enemy has produced much error and confusion concerning the choice of the one who saves.
1:2148⧉ ⤴︎
For plotting as an enemy, he in turn deceives those against whom he has plotted, into fleeing to himself as though to a guardian, so that a double evil surrounds them;
1:2149⧉ ⤴︎
either being seized by force, or perishing through deceit.
1:2150⧉ ⤴︎
But even those who acknowledge God err in the discernment of things, making their requests for what is beneficial without discipline, and asking for certain things as good, which are often not for their benefit, and fleeing other things as evil, which sometimes bring them much profit.
1:2151⧉ ⤴︎
One burdened with the toil of sickness prays for health.
1:2152⧉ ⤴︎
Has he lost money? He is greatly pained by the loss.
1:2153⧉ ⤴︎
然而疾病也常常是有益的,當它是要用來管教犯罪之人的時候;
But often sickness too is beneficial, when it is about to discipline the sinner;
1:2154⧉ ⤴︎
and health too is harmful, when it becomes for the one who has it a means toward sin.
1:2155⧉ ⤴︎
同樣地,錢財對某些人來說,已然成了放縱情慾的工具;
Thus also money has already for some become an instrument toward licentiousness;
1:2156⧉ ⤴︎
and poverty has brought many who were bent toward evil to their senses.
1:2157⧉ ⤴︎
Therefore neither flee what you ought not, nor take refuge in what you ought not.
1:2158⧉ ⤴︎
But let there be one thing for you to flee — sin — and one refuge from evils — God.
1:2159⧉ ⤴︎
你們不要倚靠君王;
Put not your trust in princes;
1:2160⧉ ⤴︎
不要因錢財的無定而自高;
do not be lifted up on the uncertainty of riches;
1:2161⧉ ⤴︎
不要倚仗身體的力量而自恃;
do not set your mind on bodily strength;
1:2162⧉ ⤴︎
do not pursue the splendor of human glory.
1:2163⧉ ⤴︎
All things are temporary, all things are deceptive.
1:2164⧉ ⤴︎
Cursed is the man who has his hope in man, or in anything human.
1:2165⧉ ⤴︎
God, then, is our refuge and strength.
1:2166⧉ ⤴︎
For him who is able to say, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, God is strength.
1:2167⧉ ⤴︎
因此,許多人都能說:「神是我們的避難所」;
It is possible, then, for many to say, God is our refuge;
1:2168⧉ ⤴︎
以及:「主啊,你成了我們的避難所」;
and, Lord, you have become our refuge;
1:2169⧉ ⤴︎
but to speak from the same disposition as the Prophet belongs to very few.
1:2170⧉ ⤴︎
For few are those who have not marveled at human things, but are wholly attached to God, breathing him, and having in him all their hope and confidence.
1:2171⧉ ⤴︎
And indeed events themselves convict us, whenever in afflictions we run to everything else rather than to God.
1:2172⧉ ⤴︎
孩子生病了嗎?你就四處尋找念咒的人,或是那將奇異符號繫在無辜嬰孩頸項上的人;
Is the child sick? And you look around for the enchanter, or the one who fastens curious symbols around the necks of the innocent infants;
1:2173⧉ ⤴︎
or at least, in the end, you go to the physician and to medicines, neglecting the One who is able to save.
1:2174⧉ ⤴︎
And if a dream troubles you, you run to the dream-interpreter.
1:2175⧉ ⤴︎
And if you fear an enemy, you devise for yourself some one man as your patron.
1:2176⧉ ⤴︎
And altogether, in every need you are exposed, naming God your refuge in word, but in deed drawing to yourself the help that comes from useless and vain things.
1:2177⧉ ⤴︎
But for the righteous man, God is a true help.
1:2178⧉ ⤴︎
正如一位將軍,統率著一支英勇的重裝步兵,隨時準備救援戰線中承受壓力的那一部分;
Just as a general, having a noble body of heavy infantry attached to him, is always ready to help whichever part of the line is under pressure;
1:2179⧉ ⤴︎
so God is our helper, and an ally to everyone who wages war against the wiles of the devil, sending forth the ministering spirits for the salvation of those who are in need.
1:2180⧉ ⤴︎
But affliction finds every righteous person, on account of his manner of life.
1:2181⧉ ⤴︎
For he who turns away from the broad and spacious way, and travels the narrow and afflicted way, is overtaken by afflictions.
1:2182⧉ ⤴︎
The Prophet gave the statement a vivid, living form, saying:
1:2183⧉ ⤴︎
"In the afflictions that have found us exceedingly."
1:2184⧉ ⤴︎
For like living creatures they seize upon us, working endurance, and through endurance, proven character, and through proven character, hope.
1:2185⧉ ⤴︎
Whence also the Apostle says:
1:2186⧉ ⤴︎
and, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous."
1:2187⧉ ⤴︎
But he who has nobly and undisturbedly endured the trial that comes from affliction will say, "In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."
1:2188⧉ ⤴︎
And he is so far from growing faint and shrinking back in afflictions, that he even makes the very excess of evils an occasion for boasting, saying, "And not only so, but we also boast in our tribulations."
1:2189⧉ ⤴︎
先知顯明了他對基督堅定不移的信靠:即使萬物顛倒錯亂,即使大地翻騰震盪,即使群山離開本位,遷移到海的中心;
The Prophet displays the great firmness of his confidence toward Christ, in that even if everything is turned upside down, even if the earth is convulsed in confusion, even if the mountains, forsaking their own seat, are removed into the midst of the sea;
1:2190⧉ ⤴︎
We will not fear, because we have God as our refuge and strength and helper in the afflictions that have found us exceedingly.
1:2191⧉ ⤴︎
誰的心能如此無懼,誰的思想能如此不亂,以致在這樣大的混亂中,仍能將心思專注向神,並因對祂的盼望,而對所發生的任何事都不驚惶呢?然而我們竟連一個人的怒氣都無法忍受;
Whose heart is so undaunted, whose reasonings so untroubled, that in so great a confusion he keeps his mind stretched out toward God, and, because of his hope in him, is dismayed at none of the things that happen? But we cannot endure the wrath of a man;
1:2192⧉ ⤴︎
...of ours, in the afflictions; but, panic-stricken, we turn back upon ourselves.
1:2193⧉ ⤴︎
"Their waters roared and were troubled."
1:2194⧉ ⤴︎
他說到了大地的震動,以及群山的遷移;
He spoke of the disturbance of the earth, and the removal of the mountains;
1:2195⧉ ⤴︎
he also speaks of the surging and overturning of the sea, as the mountains fall into the midst of the deep waters.
1:2196⧉ ⤴︎
"Their waters roared and were troubled;"
1:2197⧉ ⤴︎
But it is the mountains themselves that cause the greater disturbance in the waters, since they are not settled within the sea, but by their own commotion produce great turmoil in the waters.
1:2198⧉ ⤴︎
When, then, the earth is disturbed, and the waters of the seas roar and are stirred up from the depths, and the mountains are removed and endure great turmoil, because of the surpassing power of the Lord;
1:2199⧉ ⤴︎
then, he says, our heart remains undaunted, so that our hopes upon God may be secure and firm.
1:2200⧉ ⤴︎
"The mountains were troubled at his might."
1:2201⧉ ⤴︎
或者,這世代的掌權者,以及那將要滅亡之智慧的父輩們,也可以被稱為群山,他們因基督的大能而震動;那大能,正是祂在藉十字架與那掌死權者的爭戰中所彰顯的;
Or perhaps also the rulers of this age, and the fathers of the wisdom that is perishing, are themselves called mountains, being thrown into confusion at the might of Christ, which he displayed in the contest through the cross against him who held the power of death;
1:2202⧉ ⤴︎
for having stripped himself, like a noble contestant, he wrestled down the principalities and the powers, and "made a public example of them, triumphing over them" by the tree.
1:2203⧉ ⤴︎
"The streams of the river make glad the city of God."
1:2204⧉ ⤴︎
鹹水被狂風猛烈攪動,「澎湃翻騰」;
The salty waters, violently stirred up by the winds, "roared and were troubled";
1:2205⧉ ⤴︎
but the streams of the river, advancing noiselessly and flowing quietly upon those worthy to receive them, make glad the city of God.
1:2206⧉ ⤴︎
And now the righteous man drinks the living water, and later he will drink more abundantly, when he is enrolled as a citizen in the city of God.
1:2207⧉ ⤴︎
然而如今,他是「藉著鏡子觀看,模糊不清」地喝,因為他對神聖真理的領悟仍是逐步而有限的;
But now he drinks "through a mirror, in a riddle," because of the partial apprehension of the divine contemplations he has;
1:2208⧉ ⤴︎
but then he will receive the river all at once, overflowing, able to flood the whole city of God with gladness.
1:2209⧉ ⤴︎
但神的江河還能是什麼呢,豈不就是聖靈嗎?聖靈藉著那些信基督之人的信心,臨在於那些配得的人身上。因為主說:「信我的人,從他腹中要流出活水的江河」;
But what else could the river of God be, than the Holy Spirit, coming to dwell in those who are worthy, through the faith of those who have believed in Christ? For "he who believes in me," he says, "rivers shall flow out of his belly";
1:2210⧉ ⤴︎
"If anyone drinks of the water that I give, it will become in him a spring of water welling up into eternal life."
1:2211⧉ ⤴︎
因此,這江河使神的全城一同歡喜快樂,也就是那些「國籍在天」之人所組成的教會;
This river, then, gladdens the whole city of God all together, that is, the Church of those whose citizenship is in the heavens;
1:2212⧉ ⤴︎
or else one must understand as "city" the whole intelligible creation, from the supramundane powers to human souls, made glad by the inflow of the Holy Spirit.
1:2213⧉ ⤴︎
For some define a city as an established body of people, settled and governed according to law.
1:2214⧉ ⤴︎
And this given definition of a city also fits the Jerusalem above, the heavenly city.
1:2215⧉ ⤴︎
因為在那裡也有「長子們所組成的團體,他們的名字記錄在天上」;
For there too is "a body of the firstborn, who are enrolled in the heavens";
1:2216⧉ ⤴︎
and it is established, because of the unshakeable conduct of the saints, and it is governed according to the heavenly law.
1:2217⧉ ⤴︎
Now to fully learn the arrangement of that commonwealth, and its whole ordering, belongs to no human nature.
1:2218⧉ ⤴︎
因為那些正是「眼睛未曾看見、耳朵未曾聽見、人心也未曾想到的事,是神為愛祂之人所預備的」;
For those are the things which "eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man, which God has prepared for those who love him";
1:2219⧉ ⤴︎
except only that there are "myriads of angels" there, and "the festal gathering of the saints," and "the church of the firstborn who are enrolled in the heavens."
1:2220⧉ ⤴︎
神藉著以賽亞向那城應許說:「我要使你成為永遠的歡樂,世世代代的喜悅」;
To that city, through Isaiah, God promises, "I will make you an everlasting joy, a gladness of generation to generation";
1:2221⧉ ⤴︎
but "your walls shall be called salvation."
1:2222⧉ ⤴︎
Lifting up, then, the eyes of your soul, seek the things concerning the city of God in a manner worthy of the things above.
1:2223⧉ ⤴︎
What, indeed, could one conceive that is worthy of the blessedness there, which the river of God gladdens, and of which God himself is the artificer and maker? "The Most High has sanctified his tabernacle."
1:2224⧉ ⤴︎
Perhaps he means the God-bearing flesh, sanctified through its union with God.
1:2225⧉ ⤴︎
So that you will understand the tabernacle of the Most High to be the manifestation of God through flesh.
1:2226⧉ ⤴︎
"God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved."
1:2227⧉ ⤴︎
"God will help her at the dawning of the morning."
1:2228⧉ ⤴︎
And since God is in the midst of the city, he will grant her the state of being unshaken, providing her help at the first risings of the light.
1:2229⧉ ⤴︎
Whether, then, the name of city applies to the Jerusalem above or to the Church below, "the Most High has sanctified his tabernacle in her."
1:2230⧉ ⤴︎
And through this tabernacle, in which God tabernacled, he came to be in the midst of her, granting her the not being shaken.
1:2231⧉ ⤴︎
God is in the midst of the city, sending forth equally from every side, to the ends of the circle, the rays of his own providence.
1:2232⧉ ⤴︎
For thus the justice of God is preserved, in that he apportions the same measure of goodness to all.
1:2233⧉ ⤴︎
"God will help her at the dawning of the morning."
1:2234⧉ ⤴︎
我們這裡的清晨,是由那可感官的太陽所造成的,就是當它升起、越過我們的地平線之時;
Now the morning among us is produced by the sensible sun, whenever it rises above our horizon;
1:2235⧉ ⤴︎
but the morning in the soul is produced by the Sun of Righteousness, making day, by the rising of the intelligible light, in the one who has received him.
