📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

2:1
Behold, on the mountains the feet of one who brings good news and announces peace. Celebrate your feasts, Judah, pay your vows, for they will never again pass through you to bring you to ruin; it is finished, it is removed.
One who blows in your face has come up, one who delivers from affliction. Watch the road, hold fast your loins, be a man, be exceedingly strong.
For the Lord has turned back the pride of Jacob, as the pride of Israel; for shakers shook them off and destroyed their branches.
The weapons of their might are from men, mighty men making sport with fire; the reins of their chariots in the day of his preparation, and the horsemen will be thrown into confusion.
In the streets the chariots will be thrown into confusion and will collide with one another in the broad places; their appearance is like torches of fire and like lightnings darting about.
And their nobles will call to mind, and they will flee by day, and they will grow weak on their march, and they will hurry to the walls and prepare their defenses.
The gates of the rivers were opened, and the palace collapsed.
And the foundation was uncovered, and she went up, and her handmaids were led away, moaning like doves in their hearts.
And the waters of Nineveh are like a pool of water; and they fled and did not stand, and there was no one who looked.
They plundered the silver, they plundered the gold; and there was no end to her adornment. They are laden beyond all her desirable vessels.
Shaking and upheaval and tumult, and breaking of the heart, and loosing of knees, and pangs upon every loin; and the face of all is like the scorching of a pot.
Where is the dwelling of the lions and the pasture that belonged to the cubs, where the lion went to enter, and the lion's cub, and there was no one to frighten them?
The lion tore enough for his cubs and strangled prey for his lions, and he filled his lair with prey and his dwelling with what he had seized.
Behold, I am against you, says the Lord Almighty, and I will burn up your multitude in smoke, and the sword will devour your lions; and I will destroy your prey from the earth, and your works will no longer be heard.
