ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

Hear this, you elders, and give ear, all you who inhabit the land: has such a thing happened in your days, or in the days of your fathers?

What the caterpillar left, the locust devoured; what the locust left, the young locust devoured; and what the young locust left, the blight devoured.
Sober up, you who are drunk from their wine, and weep; wail, all you who drink wine to drunkenness, for gladness and joy have been taken away from your mouth.
For a nation has come up against my land, strong and beyond number; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and its molars those of a lion's cub.

1:7

Lament to me more than a bride girded with sackcloth over the husband of her virginity.
Sacrifice and drink offering have been taken away from the house of the Lord. Mourn, you priests who minister at the altar.

1:12
The vine has dried up and the fig trees have grown few; pomegranate and palm and apple and all the trees of the field have dried up, because the sons of men have shamed joy.
Gird yourselves and beat your breasts, you priests; wail, you who minister at the altar. Go in and spend the night in sackcloth, you who minister to God, for sacrifice and drink offering have been withheld from the house of your God.

Alas, alas, alas for the day! For the day of the Lord is near, and it will come as misery out of misery.
