Song of Solomon 1

Latin original · 16 verses · some words can be tapped for a gloss

ch. 2 →
📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Septuagint, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no morphological tagging. Glosses are matched by word form against a dictionary — a match does not prove it is the same word (an inflected form can coincide with another word’s lemma). Verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
⚠️ The Chinese and English alongside are the CUV and the WEB, both translated from the Masoretic Text; they follow a different textual tradition from the Greek and Latin shown here and will disagree in places.

Nolite me considerare quod fusca sim, quia decoloravit me sol. Filii matris meae pugnaverunt contra me ; posuerunt me custodem in vineis : vineam meam non custodivi.
I am dark, but lovely, you daughters of Jerusalem, like Kedar’s tents, like Solomon’s curtains.
耶路撒冷的眾女子啊, 我雖然黑,卻是秀美, 如同基達的帳棚, 好像所羅門的幔子。
1:6
Indica mihi, quem diligit anima mea, ubi pascas, ubi cubes in meridie, ne vagari incipiam post greges sodalium tuorum.
Don’t stare at me because I am dark, because the sun has scorched me. My mother’s sons were angry with me. They made me keeper of the vineyards. I haven’t kept my own vineyard.
不要因日頭把我曬黑了就輕看我。 我同母的弟兄向我發怒, 他們使我看守葡萄園; 我自己的葡萄園卻沒有看守。
1:7
Si ignoras te, o pulcherrima inter mulieres, egredere, et abi post vestigia gregum, et pasce haedos tuos juxta tabernacula pastorum.
Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you graze your flock, where you rest them at noon; for why should I be as one who is veiled beside the flocks of your companions?

Equitatui meo in curribus Pharaonis assimilavi te, amica mea.
If you don’t know, most beautiful among women, follow the tracks of the sheep. Graze your young goats beside the shepherds’ tents.
