Τὸ δὲ , Ἀπὸ τῶν περάτων τῆς γῆς , σημαίνει ὑπὲρ πάσης αὐτὸν τῆς οἰκουμένης ποιούμενον τὰς λιτάς
And 'from the ends of the earth' signifies that he makes his supplications on behalf of the whole inhabited world.
而「從地極」一語,是指他為全普天下之人獻上祈求。

Ἀπὸ τῶν περάτων τῆς γῆς πρὸς σὲ ἐκέκραξα
'From the ends of the earth I cried out to you.'
「我從地極呼求你。」

Ἐπειδὴ γὰρ πολλοῖς σταθμοῖς ἡ Βαβυλὼν τῆς Παλαιστίνης ἀφέστηκε , τὰς ἐσχατιὰς ὑπελάμβανον τῆς οἰκουμένης οἰκεῖν οἱ ἐξανδραποδισθέντες , κἀκείνην τεταγμένοι τὴν γῆν οἰκεῖν
For since Babylon lies many stages distant from Palestine, those who had been carried off into slavery supposed that they dwelt at the very ends of the inhabited world, having been consigned to dwell in that land.
因為巴比倫距巴勒斯坦有許多站之遙,那些被擄為奴的人便以為自己是住在普天下的邊陲,因他們被派定住在那地。

Σαφῶς τε κηρύττει διὰ τίνος ἡ σωτηρία·
And he clearly proclaims through whom salvation comes;

for he says that he has been set high upon a rock.

For through Christ — who is called 'the Rock' by the blessed Paul — we have become superior to, and set above, the demons that assail us.

Ὡδήγησάς με , ὅτι ἐγενήθης ἐλπίς μου
'You have guided me, because you became my hope.'

Εἰ γὰρ αὐτός ἐστιν ἡ ὁδὸς , καὶ αὐτός ἐστιν ἡ θύρα , δῆλον , ὅτι τὴν ἀγαθὴν ἡμᾶς βαδίζειν διδάξει τρίβον , εἰς αὐ τὸν ἐλπίζειν παρασκευάσας
For if he himself is the way, and he himself is the door, it is clear that he will teach us to walk the good path, having prepared us to set our hope in him.
因為既然他自己就是道路,他自己也是門,顯然他必教導我們行走那美善的道路,因他已預備我們去仰望他。

Πύργος ἰσχύος ἀπὸ προσώπου ἐχθροῦ
'A tower of strength before the face of the enemy.'

Τεῖχος καὶ ἀσφάλεια γέγονας εἰς τὸ μηδὲν παθεῖν ἐπηρεαζόντων τῶν ἐχθρῶν
You have become a wall and a safeguard, so that we suffer nothing from the enemies who assail us.
你成了牆垣與保障,使我們在仇敵侵擾之下不致受害。

Παροικήσω ἐν τῷ σκηνώματί σου εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας
'I will sojourn in your tabernacle forever.'
「我要永遠寄居在你的帳幕裡。」

Ἀφ' ὧν ἤδη εἴληφεν ἀγαθῶν , καὶ περὶ τῶν μελλόντων ἐλπίζει·
From the good things he has already received, he also comes to hope for those still to come;

ὅτι δὴ , εἰς τὰς ἄνω σκηνὰς γεγο νὼς , ὑπὸ τὴν αὐτοῦ διαπαντὸς γενήσεται σκέπην
namely, that once he has come to be in the tabernacles above, he will forever be under God's shelter.
就是說,一旦他進入了那在上的帳幕,他就必永遠蒙神的庇護。

'You have given an inheritance to those who fear your name.'

'You will add days upon days to the king.'

Τοῦτο γάρ ἐστι τὸ ἡμέ ρας ἡμερῶν τοῖς ἔτεσι τοῦ βασιλέως προσθεῖναι
For this is what it means 'to add days upon days to the years of the king.'

If anyone seeks out his mercy and his truth, that one abides before God unto the endless ages.

'So will I sing psalms to your name forever.'

Οὕτως , πῶς; ἢ διαμείνας ἐνώπιόν σου ἐν τῷ μέλ λοντι αἰῶνι; Τότε γὰρ τῆς μακαρίας ἐκείνης στάσεως ἀξιωθεὶς , ἀδιαλείπτως ἀναπέμψω τοὺς ὕμνους
'So' — how? By abiding before you in the age to come. For then, being counted worthy of that blessed standing, I shall unceasingly offer up hymns.
「如此」——如何呢?就是在來世常存於你面前。因為到那時,既蒙算為配得那蒙福的地位,我就要不住地獻上頌歌。

Οὕτως , καὶ οὐκ ἄλλως δοξολογῶν ὁ ἄνθρωπος , οὐ παύσεται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ ἀποδοῦναι Κυρίῳ τὰς εὐχάς
Thus, and not otherwise, glorifying God, man will never cease, throughout the age, to render his vows to the Lord.
人若如此、而非以別的方式頌讚神,就必永不止息地向主還他的願。

Οἱ πιστοὶ γὰρ οὐ παύονται ἡμέραν ἐξ ἡμέρας ἐπιτε λοῦντες τὰ θεῖα μυστήρια
For the faithful never cease, day after day, to perform the divine mysteries.
因為信徒們日復一日,從不停止舉行神聖的奧祕。

Jeduthun was one of the choir-leaders in the divine temple.

Προφητεύει δὲ ἐν αὐτῷ καὶ τὴν . διὰ τῆς τοῦ Σωτῆρος οἰκονομίας παντὶ τῷ τῶν ἀν θρώπων γένει ἐσομένην λύτρωσιν , καὶ τῶν νοητῶν ἐχθρῶν τὴν ἀνατροπήν·
In it he prophesies also the redemption that would come to the whole human race through the economy of the Savior, and the overthrow of the intelligible enemies;
他在此篇中也預言了:藉著救主的救贖計劃將要臨到全人類的救贖,以及那些屬靈仇敵的傾覆;
1:3162⧉ ⤴︎
καὶ παραίνεσιν ἀποτροπὴν κακίας περιέχουσαν τοῖς ἀνθρώποις εἰσάγει , τὰ περὶ τῆς κρίσεως αὐτοῖς ὑποτιθέμενος τοῦ Θεοῦ
and he introduces to men an exhortation containing a turning away from wickedness, setting before them the matters concerning God's judgment.
並且他向世人提出勸勉,內容是叫人遠離邪惡,向他們陳明有關神審判的事。

Οὐχὶ τῷ Θεῷ ὑποταγήσεται ἡ ψυχή μου; Εἰ καὶ σεσάλευσαι , φησὶ , ὦ ψυχὴ , καὶ τῆς κατ' ἀρετὴν ἐξέπεσας στάσεως , ἀλλ' ὑποτάγηθι τῷ Κυρίῳ
'Shall not my soul be subject to God?' Even though you have been shaken, he says, O soul, and have fallen from your standing in virtue, yet be subject to the Lord.
「我的心哪,你豈不順服神嗎?」他說:靈魂啊,你雖然已經動搖,從德行的地位跌落,但仍要順服於主。

Ὅτι δὴ αὐτός σου καὶ ἀντιλήψεται , καὶ σώσει τοῦ μὴ ἐπὶ πλεῖον σαλεύεσθαι
For he himself will indeed take hold of you, and will save you from being shaken any further.
因為他必扶持你,也必拯救你,使你不再進一步動搖。

Καὶ γὰρ αὐτὸς παρέξει τὴν σωτηρίαν ἀδικουμένῳ παρ' ὑμῶν , καὶ ἀπαλλάξει πάντως ὑμῶν τῆς μοχθηρίας
For he himself will provide salvation to the one wronged by you, and will altogether deliver him from your wickedness.
因為他必親自向那被你們欺壓的人施行拯救,也必完全使他脫離你們的惡行。

Ἕως πότε ἐπιτίθεσθε ἐπ' ἄνθρωπον; Τῶν ἀντι κειμένων δυνάμεων καταβοᾷ·
'How long will you set upon a man?' He cries out against the opposing powers;
「你們要攻擊一人到幾時呢?」他在此譴責那些敵對的權勢;

ὅτι δὴ νενευκυίᾳ τῇ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου φύσει ἐπὶ τὰ πονηρὰ ἐπιτίθενται , καὶ ὁμοίᾳ πως οὔσῃ διὰ τὴν φυσικὴν ἀσθένειαν κλίναντι τοίχῳ καὶ καταπίπτειν μέλλοντι , καὶ φραγμῷ ἀνα τετραμμένῳ
for indeed they set upon human nature, which has already inclined toward evil, and which, through its natural weakness, is in a way like a leaning wall about to fall, and like a fence thrown down.
因為他們攻擊的正是那已經傾向於惡的人性;而人性由於其天生的軟弱,彷彿一堵傾斜將倒的牆,又像一道被推倒的籬笆。

Πλὴν τὴν τιμήν μου ἐβουλεύσαντο ἀπώσασθαι
Yet they have taken counsel to cast away my honor.
然而他們卻圖謀要棄絕我的尊榮。

Μόνον οὐχὶ γὰρ καὶ αὐτοῦ τοῦ λογικοῦ ἡμᾶς ἀπεστέ ρησαν , ξύλα καὶ λίθους ἀναγκάσαντες προσκυνεῖν , ὡς καὶ λέγεσθαι περὶ ἡμῶν , ὅτι Ἄνθρωπος ἐν τιμῇ ὢν οὐ συνῆκεν
For they have all but deprived us even of reason itself, compelling us to worship wood and stone, so that it is said concerning us: 'Man, being in honor, did not understand.'
因為他們幾乎連我們的理性都剝奪了,強迫我們敬拜木頭與石頭,以致論到我們竟有這樣的話說:「人在尊貴中,卻不明白。」

Τοῦτον , φησὶ , τὸν δρόμον ἔτρεχον αἱ ἀντικείμεναι δυνάμεις , διψῶ σαι τοῦ ἀποστερῆσαί με τῆς τιμῆς
This, he says, was the course the opposing powers ran, thirsting to deprive me of my honor.
他說:那敵對的權勢正是奔跑於這條路上,渴望要奪去我的尊榮。

Τῷ στόματι αὐ τῶν ηὐλόγουν , καὶ τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῶν κατηρῶντο
'With their mouth they blessed, but in their heart they cursed.'

suggesting pleasant things to us, they thereby render us children of the curse.

Πλὴν τῷ Θεῷ ὑποτάγηθι , ἡ ψυχή μου
'Yet be subject to God, O my soul.'

Πάλιν τῇ ψυχῇ διαλέγεται , τὴν ὑποταγὴν αὐτῆς τὴν πρὸς τὸν Θεὸν ἐπιτείνων
Again he addresses the soul, intensifying its subjection toward God.
他再次向靈魂說話,加強其對神的順服。

Ἐνδείκνυται δὲ τὸ μέγεθος τῶν πειρασμῶν , καὶ τὸ τοῦ Ἀποστόλου λέγει·
He indicates the magnitude of the trials, and states the same as the Apostle:

Ὅτι οὐκ ἐάσει ὑμᾶς πειρασθῆναι ὑπὲρ ὃ δύνασθε ὑπενεγ κεῖν
'that he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to bear.'
「祂必不容你們受試探過於所能忍受的。」

Ἐπὶ τῷ Θεῷ τὸ σωτήριόν μου καὶ ἡ δόξα μου
'In God is my salvation and my glory.'
「我的拯救、我的榮耀都在乎神。」

Ἐπὶ αὐτῷ τῆς σωτηρίας καὶ τῆς δόξης ἔχω τὴν ἐλπίδα
In him I have my hope of salvation and of glory.
我對拯救與榮耀的盼望,都寄託在他身上。

Τουτέστιν , αὐτός με καὶ περισώσει καὶ ἐπίδοξον ποιήσει , νικητὴν τούτων ἐργασάμενος
That is, he himself will preserve me and make me glorious, having made me a victor over these.
意即:他必親自保全我,使我得榮耀,並使我在這些事上得勝。

For they have all but deprived us even of reason itself, compelling us to worship wood and stone, so that it is even said concerning us:

Ἄνθρωπος ἐν τιμῇ ὢν οὐ συνῆκεν
'Man, being in honor, did not understand.'

Ἀλλ' ἐκεῖνοι μὲν , ὦ ψυχὴ , τοιοῦτοι·
But those, O soul, are such;
但是靈魂啊,那些人是如此;

σὺ δὲ ὑποτάγηθι τῆς δουλείας αὐτοῦ
but you, submit yourself to his service.
但你,我的心哪,卻要順服,歸於祂的服事。

Εἶτα ἐπάγει , ὅτι Αὐτὸ τοῦτο παρ' αὐτοῦ ἐλπίζω , τὸ σωτηρίας τυχεῖν , ἀντιλαμβανομένου , καὶ μὴ συγχωροῦντος μετανάστην γενέσθαι καὶ φυγάδα ἀπ' αὐτοῦ , ἤτοι δεσποτείαν ἑτέ ραν ἀλλάξασθαι
Then he adds that this very thing is what I hope for from him: to obtain salvation, since he lays hold of me and does not permit me to become a migrant and fugitive from him, that is, to exchange him for another master.
接著他補充說:我正是從祂那裡盼望這事——得著拯救,因祂扶持我,不容我離祂而去,成為逃亡者,也就是不許我另換別的主人。
1:3186⧉ ⤴︎
Ἐκεῖθεν γὰρ προσδοκῶ καὶ σώζε σθαι , καὶ τὸ βοηθεῖσθαι , ἐκ τοῦ ἐπ' αὐτὸν ἐλπίζειν .] Ἐλπίσατε ἐπ' αὐτὸν , πᾶσα συναγωγὴ λαῶν
For from him I expect both to be saved and to be helped, out of my hoping in him.] 'Hope in him, all you assemblies of peoples.'
因為我正是從祂那裡期望得救,也期望得著幫助,這都出於我對祂的盼望。〕「萬民的會眾啊,你們都當仰望祂。」

Ἐν αὐτῷ πρώτῳ παρασκευάσας τὸν εἰς μετάνοιαν δρόμον , καὶ τοὺς ἄλλους εἰς τοῦτο παρακαλεῖ , ἅμα δὲ καὶ προφητικώτερον τὴν τῶν ἐθνῶν πάντων προανα φωνεῖ κλῆσιν
Having first prepared in himself the course leading to repentance, he exhorts others also to this, and at the same time, more prophetically, he proclaims beforehand the calling of all the nations.
他自己首先在自身預備了通往悔改的道路,然後也勸勉別人如此行;同時,他更以先知性的口吻,預先宣告萬邦蒙召之事。

Ἐκχέατε ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ τὰς καρ δίας ὑμῶν
'Pour out your hearts before him.'
「你們要在祂面前傾心吐意。」

'Do not approach him with a double heart;'

Πλὴν μάταιοι οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων
'Yet the sons of men are vain.'
「然而世人都是虛妄的。」

Εἰδὼς , ὅτι πάντες δέξονται τὴν διὰ τοῦ Εὐαγγελίου κλῆσιν , τα λανίζει τοὺς μὴ πιστεύοντας , καὶ μάλιστα τοὺς τῶν Ἰουδαίων καθηγητὰς , οἳ καὶ ψευδεῖς ἦσαν , ἅτε δὴ τὴν ἀλήθειαν ἀπωθούμενοι·
Knowing that all would receive the calling through the Gospel, he laments those who do not believe, and especially the teachers of the Jews, who were indeed false, inasmuch as they rejected the truth;
他知道眾人都將領受福音的呼召,因此為那些不信的人哀嘆,尤其是猶太人的教師們;他們既拒絕真理,實在是虛偽的;

καὶ οὐ μόνον ζυγῷ καὶ στα θμοῖς τὴν ἀδικίαν ἐπετήδευον , ἀλλὰ καὶ συνήγοντο ἐπὶ ματαιότητι
and not only did they practice injustice with scales and weights, but they also assembled together for vanity.
他們不僅在秤與砝碼上行不義,甚至還聚集一同行虛妄之事。

Μάταιος γὰρ ἀληθῶς ἡ παρ' αὐτῶν κατὰ τοῦ Σωτῆρος ἐπιβουλή
For truly vain was their plot against the Savior.
因為他們針對救主所設的陰謀,實在是虛妄的。

Μὴ ἐλπίζετε ἐπ' ἀδι κίαν καὶ ἐπὶ ἅρπαγμα μὴ ἐπιποθεῖτε
'Do not hope in injustice, and do not long after plunder.'
「不要仰賴不義,也不要貪求擄掠之物。」

Τοῦτό φησι πρὸς αὐτοὺς , ἐπειδὴ πλεονεξίας ἕνεκεν ἐπεβούλευσαν αὐτῷ , ἐλπίζοντες τὰς ἐκ τοῦ νόμου καρποφορίας παρ' αὐτῶν λαμβάνειν
He says this to them, since it was for the sake of covetousness that they plotted against him, hoping to receive from him the fruits accruing from the law.

one, that to those who deserve wrath on account of the excess of their sins, he will render wrath;
其一是:那些因罪惡過度而理當受怒氣的人,祂必以怒氣報應他們;

τοῖς δὲ ἄξια πεποιηκόσιν ἐλέου , ἀπονέμοι ἔλεον
but to those who have done things worthy of mercy, he would allot mercy.
其二是:那些行事配得憐憫的人,祂必施予憐憫。

Τὸ γὰρ κρά τος τὴν ὀργὴν ὑποσημαίνει , καὶ τὴν ἀποτομίαν τὴν κατὰ τῶν ἀξίων αὐτῆς γενομένην
For 'might' signifies wrath, and the severity exercised against those deserving of it.
因為「大能」一詞暗指怒氣,以及對那些理當受怒氣者所施行的嚴厲。

Καὶ τοῦτον μὲν ᾄδει τὸν ψαλμὸν , φεύγων ἀπὸ προσώπου Σαοὺλ , καὶ διὰ τῆς κατὰ τὸν βίον ἀρετῆς ἐπικαλούμενος εἰς βοήθειαν τὸν Θεόν
This psalm he sings while fleeing from the face of Saul, calling upon God for help through the virtue of his life.
這篇詩篇是他逃避掃羅之面時所唱的,藉著他一生的德行呼求神來幫助他。

Ἀναφέρεται δὲ καὶ εἰς τὴν ψυχὴν τὴν πάλαι ἐν ἐρημίᾳ γεγο νυῖαν παντὸς ἀγαθοῦ , εἶτα ἐπιστραφεῖσαν τῇ Χρι στοῦ χάριτι
It is also referred to the soul that was formerly in a desert bereft of every good thing, and then was converted by the grace of Christ.
這篇也可指那昔日在曠野中、缺乏一切美善的靈魂,後來藉基督的恩典而歸正。

'O God, my God, I rise early to you.'

Οὐ γὰρ μόνον τὴν εὐσέβειαν ἡμᾶς ἐπιτηδεύειν δεῖ , ἀλλὰ καὶ διὰ τοῦ σώματος ἀρέσκειν Θεῷ , οἷον διὰ νηστείας , διὰ συνεχοῦς προσευχῆς , διὰ χαμευνίας , διὰ τῆς ἐργασίας τῶν χειρῶν , εἰς τὸ δεομένοις χορη γεῖν
For we must not only practice piety, but also please God through the body — as, for example, through fasting, through continual prayer, through sleeping on the ground, through the labor of our hands, so as to provide for those in need.
因為我們不僅當致力於敬虔,也當藉著身體討神喜悅,例如藉著禁食、不住的禱告、臥地而眠、親手做工,好供應有需要的人。

Οὐδεμίαν ἀπὸ τῆς ἐρημίας βλάβην εἰσεδεξάμην , φησὶν , ἀλλ' ὡς παρ' αὐτὴν ἑστηκὼς τὴν ἱεράν σου σκηνὴν , ὑμνῳδίαν προσφέρω
I have suffered no harm from the wilderness, he says, but as though standing right beside your sacred tabernacle, I offer up hymnody.

For by 'in the holy place' he means the tabernacle.

'So' — how? Is it not by thirsting and longing for union with you, the Holy One? And who could 'the Holy One' be but the Only-Begotten? 'For your mercy is better than lives.'

Since you yourself help me by the guarding of your help, I receive gladness.

Σκέπην γὰρ πτερύγων καλεῖ τὴν ἀπὸ τῆς βοηθείας φυλακήν
For he calls the guarding that comes from God's help 'the shelter of wings.'

Σκεπόμενος , φησὶ , παρὰ σοῦ χαρᾷ χαρή σομαι
Being sheltered by you, he says, I shall rejoice with joy.

My soul has clung fast behind you.

Then he shows the fruit of this longing.

He then cries out against the opposing powers, telling of the violence he endured when set forth as prey, praying that they be handed over to eternal punishments.

Having gone through the end of those who committed impiety against Christ, and having shown that the lowest parts of the earth will become their portion and lot, he now transfers his discourse to the other order of men;
他既已論述那些褻瀆基督之人的結局,並指明大地最深之處將成為他們的分和產業,便將論述轉向另一等人;

and this was that of those who believed in Christ, who, having also been deemed worthy of the kingdom of the heavens, are fittingly also called kings, according to what was said by the Apostle:

Thus, he says, Christ will also be their boast — that is, of those who have reigned;

so that, making him also the object of their oath, they are justly praised.

For they will swear by the true God, according to what is written:

For the mouth of those who speak unjust things has been stopped up.

Καὶ τίνες οὗτοι ἢ οἱ τολμήσαν τες εἰπεῖν , Αἶρε ἐκ τῆς γῆς τὸν τοιοῦτον·
And who are these but those who dared to say, 'Away with such a man from the earth,'
這些人是誰呢?豈不就是那些膽敢說『把這樣的人從地上除掉』的人嗎?

οὐ γὰρ καθῆκεν αὐτὸν ζῇν; Τούτων δὴ οὖν ἐνεφράγη τὸ στόμα , πατήσαντος τοῦ Κυρίου τὸν θάνατον , καὶ τριη μέρου ἀναστάντος
'for it was not fitting that he should live'? The mouth of these, then, was stopped up when the Lord trampled down death and rose on the third day.

He sings this psalm in the person of the holy apostles, praying to be delivered from the enemies of the evangelical proclamation, and clearly recounting the things contrived against them by the rulers of the people of the Jews, and what they themselves have endured — evidently at the hands of the aforementioned rulers, on account of their impiety toward Christ.

For how are words not death-dealing which attempt to persuade men not to believe Jesus to be God? 'Suddenly they will shoot at him, and they will not fear.'

Lying in ambush, he says, they suddenly attack, not fearing the God who watches over all things.

They have strengthened for themselves an evil word;

Up and down, he says, they were plotting to kill secretly the heralds of the evangelical teachings.

Τίς , εἶπαν , ὄψεται αὐτούς; Ταῦτα ἔπραττον , φησὶ , νομίζοντες μὴ ἀπαιτεῖν αὐτοὺς τὸν Θεὸν τῆς τοιαύτης ἀσεβείας τὰς δίκας
'Who,' they said, 'shall see them?' They did these things, he says, thinking that God would not require of them the penalty for such impiety.

Προσελεύσεται ἄνθρωπος καὶ καρδία βαθεῖα
Man shall draw near, and the heart is deep.

The lawless, he says, did not cease from plotting evil against the Lord;

ὁ δὲ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἄνθρωπος ὁ συνετὰ βουλευόμενος ( τοῦτο γὰρ ἡ βαθεῖα καρδία δηλοῖ ), ἅτε ἀκριβῶς νοήσας τὸ μυστήριον , τοῖς προσήκουσιν ὕμνοις κεχρημένος , ὑψώσει τὸν Θεὸν , κατὰ τὸ εἰρη μένον ἀλλαχοῦ Ὑψώσω σε , Κύριε ὁ Θεός μου , ὁ βασιλεύς μου
but the man of God, who devises wise counsel (for this is what 'a deep heart' signifies), having precisely understood the mystery, and making use of fitting hymns, will exalt God, according to what is said elsewhere: 'I will exalt you, O Lord my God, my King.'
但屬神的人,思慮周詳(這正是『深心』所指的意思),既已確切明白這奧祕,便用相稱的頌歌,高舉神,正如別處所說:『耶和華我的神,我的王啊,我要尊崇你。』

Having spoken of their arrogance against the holy heralds, he now goes on to relate also their downfall.

Τίς γὰρ οὐκ ἂν φο βηθείη , ἐπισκοπὴν ἐκ Θεοῦ ὁρῶν γινομένην κατὰ τῶν ἀσεβῶν; Εὐφρανθήσεται δίκαιος ἐν τῷ Κυρίῳ , καὶ ἐλπιεῖ ἐπ' αὐτῷ
For who would not be afraid, seeing the visitation from God coming upon the impious? 'The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall hope in him.'
誰見到神對不敬虔者所施行的鑒察,能不心生畏懼呢?『義人必因耶和華歡喜,並要投靠祂。』

Καὶ ἐπαινεθήσονται πάντες οἱ εὐθεῖς τῇ καρδίᾳ
And all the upright in heart shall be praised.
凡心裡正直的人都必得稱讚。

Καὶ τὴν παρὰ ἀνθρώ πων καρπώσονται εὔκλειαν οἱ πρὸς Θεὸν διευθύνον τες , καὶ τῆς ὁδοῦ τῆς εὐθείας ἔξω βαδίζειν οὐκ ἀνεχόμενοι
And those who direct themselves rightly toward God, and who do not tolerate walking outside the straight path, shall reap good repute from men.
那些正直歸向神、不容自己走出正道之外的人,必從世人那裡得著美名。

In this psalm he introduces the person of the nations who believed in Christ, crying out against the wise men of this age, and asking for forgiveness of their former impiety.

No longer, he says, shall we send up hymns to those we used to think were gods, knowing that it is not fitting to sing hymns to them, being as they are wood and stone and demons;

He means either the earthly Jerusalem, which is the Church, or the heavenly one, where, having arrived, we shall send up our praises.

By these words he proclaims as good news the calling of all the nations, according to what was said by Joel:

I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh.

The words of the lawless have overpowered us.

By 'words of the lawless' he means the wisdom of the wise men of this age, by which they also were weakened, having fallen away from true knowledge.

And you shall be propitious toward our impieties.

They pray to be delivered from the impiety that befell them in their error.

Blessed is he whom you have chosen and taken to yourself.

They call blessed those who have been perfected in virtue and have attained to the prize of the calling from above.
他們稱那些在德行上得以成全、達到上面呼召之獎賞的人為有福。

Πλη σθησόμεθα ἐν τοῖς ἀγαθοῖς τοῦ οἴκου σου
We shall be filled with the good things of your house.

By 'the good things of the house' he means the various gifts of the Spirit.

For to one, he says, is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of knowledge, and likewise the other gifts.

whether the heavenly or the earthly [house], according to what has been said:

For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

In you, he says, the ends of the inhabited world shall hope, and also those who dwell far off by the sea.
他說,普天下地極的人都要仰望你,就是住在海邊遠方的人也是如此。

Who establishes the mountains by his strength.

Here he speaks of the opposing powers.

Who stirs up the depths of the sea.

Θάλασσαν ἐνταῦθα τὸ πλῆθος τῶν ἀκαθάρτων πνευμάτων φησὶν , ὃ καὶ συνταράττεται τῇ τοῦ Χριστοῦ παρουσίᾳ
Here by 'sea' he means the multitude of unclean spirits, which is indeed thrown into confusion at the coming of Christ.

Ἦλθες πρὸ καιροῦ βασανίσαι ἡμᾶς
Have you come here to torment us before the time?

Ταραχθήσονται τὰ ἔθνη , καὶ φοβηθήσονται οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὰ πέρατα , ἀπὸ τῶν σημείων σου
The nations shall be troubled, and those who dwell at the ends [of the earth] shall fear, because of your signs.
列邦必因你的神蹟而震動,住在地極的人也必因此懼怕。

Ὅτε , φησὶ , τὰ ἔθνη ταραχθήσονται , τουτέστι τῶν δαιμόνων τὰ συστήματα , τότε δὴ τότε καὶ οἱ ἐν τοῖς πέρασι τῆς οἰκουμένης ἄνθρωποι φοβηθήσονταί σε , τὰ μεγάλα σημεῖα θεωρήσαντες
When, he says, the nations are troubled—that is, the hosts of the demons—then, indeed then, the people at the ends of the inhabited world will also fear you, having beheld the great signs.
他說,當列邦震動的時候——也就是那些鬼魔的隊伍——那時,那時普天下地極的人也必因看見那偉大的神蹟而敬畏你。

By 'signs' he means those that took place at his coming.

For when the people who dwell in the inhabited world, having beheld the great signs, fear with a good fear, then, indeed then, there will be delight for them at the outgoings of morning and of evening—that is, at every time—as they exult over what your coming has accomplished.
因為當普世居住的人看見那些偉大的神蹟,懷著善美的敬畏之心時,那時,那時無論清晨或黃昏的出入——也就是無論何時——他們都必因你降臨所成就的事而歡欣喜樂。

Ἐπεσκέψω τὴν γῆν , καὶ ἐμέθυσας αὐτήν
You have visited the earth and made it drunk.

Ἐπὶ τίσι δὲ ἢ ἐπὶ τῷ τῆς ἐπισκοπῆς ἀξιῶσαι τὴν γῆν , καὶ μεθῦσαι αὐτὴν τῶν παρ' αὐτοῦ δηλονότι χαρισμάτων; Ὁ ποταμὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐπληρώθη ὑδάτων
On account of what things? Namely, that he has deemed the earth worthy of his visitation, and made it drunk—clearly, with the gifts that come from him. 'The river of God is filled with water.'
因何事呢?就是因祂使大地配得祂的眷顧,並使它沉醉——顯然是沉醉於從祂而來的恩賜。「神的河滿了水。」

And he says it has been prepared, because before the foundation of the world the mystery concerning Christ was determined—he who is the bread that came down from heaven and gives life to the world.

Drench her furrows abundantly, multiply her produce.

By 'furrows' he means the depths of hearts, and by 'produce' the pious thoughts.

Ἐν ταῖς σταγόσιν αὐτῆς εὐφρανθήσεται ἀνατέλ λουσα
In its drops it shall rejoice as it springs up.

Even the small [drops], he says, of the divine gifts given to her make her rejoice and cause her to spring up—that is, clearly, to bring forth the intelligible fruit.

You will bless the crown of the year of your goodness.

Ἐνιαυτόν φησι τὸν τοῦ μέλλον τος αἰῶνος καιρὸν , καὶ στέφανον χρηστότητος ἀπο καλεῖ , διὰ τὸ ἐν πολλῇ χρηστότητι τοὺς ἁγίους ἐν αὐτῷ στεφανοῦσθαι
By 'year' he means the time of the age to come, and he calls it 'the crown of goodness' because it is in much goodness that the saints are crowned in it.

By 'mountains' he means the holy apostles and evangelists, who have grown well-nourished by the spiritual gifts:

And what will they put on but the garment of incorruption and the tunic of gladness? He also calls the holy apostles 'rams of the flock,' as those who have come forward and are strong enough to butt their enemies with their horns.

The souls of the nations, he says, which were once most destitute and barren, shall be full of spiritual fruits.
他說,那些從前極其貧瘠不毛的外邦人靈魂,如今必要滿了屬靈的果實。

Having changed for the better, he says, and having been multiplied in intelligible fruits, the valleys shall fervently send up hymns to you.

Through the present psalm he signifies the calling of the nations, and he proclaims as good news the resurrection that will take place of their souls, according to what has been said:

The shout of joy is a hymn of victory, sung over fallen enemies.

Therefore, since the rulers of this age have been destroyed—clearly through the coming of Christ—all the nations are exhorted to send up hymns of victory.

And what works does he mean but the divine signs, he says, and the fact that the multitudes of unclean demons have been driven out of the way? 'In the abundance of your power your enemies shall lie to you.'

Here the person of the apostles is introduced, teaching the nations that this very one who worked the divine signs in his coming according to the flesh is also the one who long ago dried up the Red Sea, and indeed also held back the streams of the river Jordan, so that the sons of Israel might pass through on foot.
這裡引入了使徒的身分,他們教導萬邦:這一位在祂按肉身降臨時行了神蹟的,正是那位從前使紅海乾涸、又攔阻約旦河水流的那一位,使以色列的子孫能以步行過去。

who long ago parted both the sea and the river, and commanded our forefathers to cross over without danger.

There shall we rejoice in him.

By this he means: as many things as I vowed.] 'I will render to you my vows.'

What I vowed, he says, while afflicted, I will render to you.

'I will offer to you whole burnt offerings full of marrow.'

What you commanded to be offered, I will sacrifice with ready eagerness.

By 'full of marrow' he means the well-fed and fat offerings:

And the prophet Malachi also pronounces a curse on those who, though possessing such animals, offer up maimed ones instead.

And all these are spiritual, as I have said—both the whole burnt offerings and the oxen and the goats which he promises to render.

And what else does he recount than what he already explained above, 'You have tried us,' and the rest? 'If I regarded iniquity in my heart, let not the Lord hear me.'

Having seen something unprofitable in my heart, the Lord will not hearken.

He means to say that, in bringing my petitions to God, I took care of what was fitting, knowing that my petition would be of no benefit to me if I did not do what was required.

ἰδίωμα γὰρ ἔχει τῆς τῶν ἱερῶν εὐλογίας , καὶ κεῖται ἐν τοῖς Κριταῖς ἡ εὐχὴ πᾶσα σχεδόν
for it bears the character of the priestly blessing, and this whole prayer is found almost in its entirety in Judges:

The prophetic Spirit, delighting in the salvation of the world, often utters the same things, savoring gladness through this continual recounting.

Οὐχ ἁπλῶς τὴν ταυτολογίαν τέθεικεν , ἀλλὰ προθυμοτέρους τοὺς ἀκούοντας ἐργαζόμενος
He has not set down the repetition idly, but in order to render his hearers more eager.
他並非隨意地重複,而是為了使聽者更加熱切。

'The earth has given its fruit.'

And its fruit is the advances made in piety.

Just as he twice roused the nations to hymn-singing, so twice he sought a blessing for them:

ἀπολαύσαντα δηλονότι καὶ αὐτῆς εὐλογίας
having, it is evident, also come to enjoy that very blessing.

Ἢ ὅτι ἐπεὶ οὐκ ἀγνοοῦσιν οἱ ἐξ αὐ τῆς τὸν ἐπὶ πάντων Θεὸν , ἀλλὰ τὸν ἥδιστον αὐτῷ προσφέρουσι τῆς εὐσεβείας καρπόν·
Or else, because those sprung from that earth are not ignorant of the God over all, but offer to him the sweetest fruit of piety:
又或者,是因為從那地而出的人並不是不認識那位掌管萬有的神,反倒向他獻上敬虔中最甘美的果實:

ὃν εἰ προσφέρομέν σοι , ἤτοι τὴν τῆς ἀρετῆς ἐπιτήδευσιν , εὐλογού μεθα παρὰ σοῦ ] [Εὐλογήσαι ἡμᾶς ὁ Θεός
which fruit, if we offer to you—that is, the practice of virtue—we are blessed by you.] [May God bless us,

Εἰδέναι μὲν προσήκει , ὡς , εὐλογοῦντες ἄνθρωποι τὸν Θεὸν , λόγους αὐτῷ προσ φέρουσι μόνους , ἔργῳ δὲ αὐτὸν εὐεργετῆσαι οὐ δύνανται
It is fitting to know that when men bless God, they offer him only words, but are not able to benefit him in deed.
我們應當知道,人稱頌神的時候,只能向他獻上言語,卻無法用行為使他真正得益。

Ὁ δὲ Θεὸς , εὐλογῶν , βεβαιοῖ τοὺς λόγους τῷ ἔργῳ , καὶ παντοδαπῶν ἀγαθῶν παρέχει τοῖς εὐλο γουμένοις φοράν
But God, when he blesses, confirms his words by deed, and provides to those who are blessed an abundant supply of every kind of good thing.

Ἐν τούτῳ τῷ ψαλμῷ τὴν παρουσίαν τοῦ Κυρίου σημαίνει , καὶ τῶν νοητῶν ἐχθρῶν καθαίρεσιν , καὶ τῆς νοητῆς αἰχμαλωσίας τὴν ἀπόλυσιν
In this psalm he signifies the coming of the Lord, and the destruction of the spiritual enemies, and the release from spiritual captivity.

In addition to these things, he promises the gift of the Holy Spirit to those who receive the preaching,

ῥύεσθαι ἐπαγγελ λόμενος , τῆς γενομένης δηλονότι διὰ τὸ κήρυγμα
promising to deliver them—evidently from the affliction that arose on account of the preaching.

Ἀλλὰ μὴν καὶ ἐπιστρέφειν ἐκ τῶν παραπικραι νόντων ὑπισχνεῖται πολλοὺς , καὶ μὴν καὶ ἐκ τῶν καταπεσόντων εἰς τὸ τῶν ἡδονῶν πέλαγος
But indeed he also promises to turn back many from among those who provoke him, and likewise also from among those who have fallen into the sea of pleasures.
此外他也應許要使許多悖逆的人回轉,並且也要使那些墜入享樂之海的人回轉。

Οὐδὲν δὲ ἧττον καὶ τῶν ἀποστόλων κηρύττει τὴν ἀνάδει ξιν , καὶ τίνες καὶ πόθεν ἦσαν
No less does he also proclaim the manifestation of the apostles, both who they were and from where.
他同樣也宣告了使徒的顯揚,包括他們是誰、又是從何而來。

Πάντων τε τῶν ἐθνῶν τὴν εἰς τὸν Κύριον πίστιν εὐαγγελίζεται
And he announces as good news the faith of all the nations in the Lord.
他也傳揚萬邦歸信於主的佳音。

Ἐφ' ἅπασι δὲ τούτοις τὴν εἰς οὐρανοὺς ἄνοδον τοῦ Κυρίου ἐκδιδάσκει σαφῶς
And in addition to all these, he clearly teaches the Lord's ascent into the heavens.
在這一切之上,他也清楚教導了主升上諸天之事。

Ἔξεστι δὲ ταῦτα πάντα κατὰ μέρος τοῖς στίχοις ἐπιβαλόντα θεωρεῖν
And it is possible to observe all these things one by one by attending closely to the verses.

Ἀναστήτω ὁ Θεὸς , καὶ διασκορπισθήτωσαν οἱ ἐχθροὶ αὐτοῦ
'Let God arise, and let his enemies be scattered.'

The word signifies God's impulse to judge the unclean demons.

Τῇ γὰρ αὐτοῦ παρουσίᾳ τῆς τῶν ἀνθρώπων τυραννίδος ἐξηλάθησαν
For by his coming they were driven out from their tyranny over mankind.

'Prepare a way for him who rides upon the west.'

Become fitting, he says, to walk in his ways—his who appeared in the flesh to those on earth in the last times.

Or, 'him who rides upon the west' [may be understood] as him who made his descent as far as Hades.

Let them be troubled before his face.

That is, evidently, the nations belonging to the demons.

Father of orphans and judge of widows.

Ὀρφανῶν μὲν τῶν ἀπροστατεύτων λέγει , χηρῶν δὲ τῶν ψυχῶν , τῶν μὴ ἐχουσῶν τὸν νυμφίον Λόγον
By 'orphans' he means those without a protector, and by 'widows' he means the souls that have no bridegroom, the Word.
所謂「孤兒」,是指沒有保護者的人;所謂「寡婦」,則是指那沒有『道』(聖言)作新郎的靈魂。

Προστάτης γάρ ἐστι τῶν ἀσθενῶν καὶ τὴν ἀνθρωπίνην οὐκ ἐχόντων βοήθειαν , οἷον ἡμεῖς
For he is the protector of the weak, and of those who have no human help, such as we are.
因為他是軟弱者、以及沒有人力可倚靠之人的保護者,正如我們一樣。

Τίς δὲ οὗτος καὶ οἷος; Ὁ Θεὸς ἐν τόπῳ ἁγίῳ αὐτοῦ
But who and what sort is this one? 'God is in his holy place.'
這位是誰、又是怎樣的一位呢?「神在祂的聖所中。」

Ἐπειδὴ εἶπεν αὐτὸν ἐπιβεβηκότα ταῖς δυσμαῖς , τουτέστι μέχρι τῶν ᾅδου μυχῶν , διδάσκει πάλιν , ὡς ἀνελθὼν εἰς οὐρα νοὺς ἐν τοῖς ἰδίοις γέγονε τόποις·
Since he had said that he mounted upon the west, that is, went as far as the recesses of Hades, he now teaches again that, having ascended into the heavens, he has come to be in his own places;
既然他先前說祂「乘駕西方」,也就是直到陰間的深處,此處他又教導說:祂升上諸天之後,已回到自己原本所在之處;

εἰ καὶ τὰ μάλιστα οὐδέποτε ἀφειστήκει αὐτῶν τῇ τῆς θεότητος φύσει
even though, in the highest degree, he had never departed from them in the nature of his Godhead.
儘管就神性的本性而言,祂其實從未離開過那些地方。

Ὁ Θεὸς κατοικίζει μονοτρόπους ἐν οἴκῳ
God settles the solitary in a house.

By 'solitary' he means those who have devoted their own life to him alone, and have estranged it from every double-mindedness and worldly desire.

Τούτους δὴ οὖν καὶ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ τῇ ἐπουρανίῳ πόλει κατοικίζειν ἐπαγγέλλεται
These, then, he promises to settle also in his house, the heavenly city.
所以,祂應許要使這些人安居在祂的家中,就是那天上的城。

Leading forth the fettered in strength.

To those in bonds: 'Come forth';

This he says because, having gone even into Hades, he also preached to the spirits there who had once been disobedient.

For he has put 'those who provoke' in place of 'those who provoked.'
