6:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀκούσατε οὖν βασιλεῖς καὶ σύνετε μάθετε δικασταὶ περάτων γῆς
Melior est sapientia quam vires , et vir prudens quam fortis .
ስምዑኬ ፡ ነገሥት ፡ ወለብዉ ፡ ወአእምሩ ፡ መኳንንተ ፡ አጽናፈ ፡ ምድር ።
Hear therefore, you⌃ kings, and understand; Learn, you⌃ judges of the ends of the earth:
6:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐνωτίσασθε οἱ κρατοῦντες πλήθους καὶ γεγαυρωμένοι ἐπὶ ὄχλοις ἐθνῶν
Audite ergo , reges , et intelligite ; discite , judices finium terræ .
ወአጽምኡ ፡ እለ ፡ ትእኅዙ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ብዙኀ ፡ ወእለ ፡ ትትዔበዩ ፡ በብዝኀ ፡ አሕዛብ ።
Give ear, you⌃ that have dominion over much people, And make your boast in multitudes of nations.
6:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι ἐδόθη παρὰ κυρίου ἡ κράτησις ὑμῖν καὶ ἡ δυναστεία παρὰ ὑψίστου ὃς ἐξετάσει ὑμῶν τὰ ἔργα καὶ τὰς βουλὰς διερευνήσει
Præbete aures , vos qui continetis multitudines , et placetis vobis in turbis nationum .
እስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወሀበክሙ ፡ እዘዘ ፡ ወጽንዕክሙ ፡ እምኀበ ፡ ልዑል ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ዘየሐትት ፡ ምግባሪክሙ ፡ ወይፈትን ፡ ምክረክሙ ።
Because your dominion was given you from the Lord, And your sovereignty from the Most High; Who will search out your works, And will make inquisition of your counsels:
6:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι ὑπηρέται ὄντες τῆς αὐτοῦ βασιλείας οὐκ ἐκρίνατε ὀρθῶς οὐδὲ ἐφυλάξατε νόμον οὐδὲ κατὰ τὴν βουλὴν τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπορεύθητε
Quoniam data est a Domino potestas vobis , et virtus ab Altissimo : qui interrogabit opera vestra , et cogitationes scrutabitur .
እስመ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ላእካነ ፡ ጽድቁ ፡ አንትሙ ፡ እፎኑመ ፡ ኢትኴንኑ ፡ ፍትሕ ፡ ርቱዐ ፡ ወኢዓቀብክሙ ፡ ሕጎ ፡ ወኢሖረክሙ ፡ በፍናወ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
Because being officers of his kingdom you⌃ did not judge aright, Neither kept you⌃ law, nor walked after the counsel of God.
6:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ φρικτῶς καὶ ταχέως ἐπιστήσεται ὑμῖν ὅτι κρίσις ἀπότομος ἐν τοῖς ὑπερέχουσιν γίνεται
Quoniam cum essetis ministri regni illius , non recte judicastis , nec custodistis legem justitiæ , neque secundum voluntatem Dei ambulastis .
ወያነሥእ ፡ ላዕሌክሙ ፡ ድንጋፄ ፡ ፍጡነ ፡ ዘይትቃወመክሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኵነኔ ፡ ምቱር ፡ ለመኳንንት ፡ ይከውን ።
Awfully and swiftly will he come upon you; Because a stern judgement befalleth those who are in high place:
6:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ γὰρ ἐλάχιστος συγγνωστός ἐστιν ἐλέους δυνατοὶ δὲ δυνατῶς ἐτασθήσονται
Horrende et cito apparebit vobis , quoniam judicium durissimum his qui præsunt fiet .
ወለነዳይሰ ፡ ያነሐስዮ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ እምፍኖተ ፡ ምሕረት ፡ ወለጽኑዐንሰ ፡ ጽኑዐ ፡ ሐተታ ፡ የሐትትዎሙ ።
For the man of low estate may be pardoned in mercy, But mighty men will be searched out mightily.
6:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐ γὰρ ὑποστελεῖται πρόσωπον ὁ πάντων δεσπότης οὐδὲ ἐντραπήσεται μέγεθος ὅτι μικρὸν καὶ μέγαν αὐτὸς ἐποίησεν ὁμοίως τε προνοεῖ περὶ πάντων
Exiguo enim conceditur misericordia ; potentes autem potenter tormenta patientur .
እስመ ፡ ኢያደሉ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለገጸ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ወኢየኃፍር ፡ ክብረ ፡ ዕበይ ፡ እስመ ፡ ዓቢየ ፡ ወንኡሰ ፡ ገብረ ፡ ወከማሁ ፡ ይሔሊ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘይቀኒ ፡ ወዘይትቀነይ ፡ ወይሠርዖሙ ።
For the Sovereign Lord of all will not refrain himself for any man’s person, Neither will he reverence greatness; Because it is he that made both small and great, And alike he takes thought for all;
6:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῖς δὲ κραταιοῖς ἰσχυρὰ ἐφίσταται ἔρευνα
Non enim subtrahet personam cujusquam Deus , nec verebitur magnitudinem ejus cujusquam , quoniam pusillum et magnum ipse fecit , et æqualiter cura est illi de omnibus .
ወለአዚዛንሰ ፡ ኅዩለ ፡ ሐተታ ፡ ይበጽሖሙ ።
But strict is the scrutiny that comes upon the powerful.
6:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ πρὸς ὑμᾶς οὖν ὦ τύραννοι οἱ λόγοι μου ἵνα μάθητε σοφίαν καὶ μὴ παραπέσητε
Fortioribus autem fortior instat cruciatio .
ለክሙኬ ፡ ነገርየ ፡ ኢ ፡ መኳንንት ፡ እኩያን ፡ ወገፋዕያነ ፡ ከመ ፡ ታእምሩ ፡ ጥበበ ፡ ወተግሣፀ ፡ ወኢትደቁ ።
To you therefore, O princes, are my words, That you⌃ may learn wisdom and fall not from the right way.
6:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ γὰρ φυλάξαντες ὁσίως τὰ ὅσια ὁσιωθήσονται καὶ οἱ διδαχθέντες αὐτὰ εὑρήσουσιν ἀπολογίαν
Ad vos ergo , reges , sunt hi sermones mei : ut discatis sapientiam , et non excidatis .
እስመ ፡ እለ ፡ የአምሩ ፡ ትእዛዘ ፡ ጽድቅ ፡ ወየዓቅቡ ፡ በጽድቅ ፡ ይጸድቁ ፡ ወእለ ፡ ተምህርዋ ፡ ይረክቡ ፡ ምሕረተ ።
For those who have kept holily the things that are holy will themselves be hallowed; And those who have been taught them will find what to answer;
6:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐπιθυμήσατε οὖν τῶν λόγων μου ποθήσατε καὶ παιδευθήσεσθε
Qui enim custodierint justa juste , justificabuntur ; et qui didicerint ista , invenient quid respondeant .
ፍትዉኬ ፡ እንከ ፡ ነገርየ ፡ አፍቅርዋ ፡ ወተገሠፁ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትርከቡ ፡ ሣህለ ፡ ወምሕረተ ።
Set your desire therefore on my words; Long for them, and you⌃ will be trained by their discipline.
6:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ λαμπρὰ καὶ ἀμάραντός ἐστιν ἡ σοφία καὶ εὐχερῶς θεωρεῖται ὑπὸ τῶν ἀγαπώντων αὐτὴν καὶ εὑρίσκεται ὑπὸ τῶν ζητούντων αὐτήν
Concupiscite ergo sermones meos ; diligite illos , et habebitis disciplinam .
ብርህት ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ጥቀ ፡ ጥበብ ፡ ወኢይጸመሂ ፡ ሥና ፡ ወእለ ፡ ያፈቅርዋ ፡ ይሬእይዋ ፡ ፍጡነ ፡ ወእለ ፡ የኃሥሥዋ ፡ ይረክብዋ ።
Wisdom is radiant and fades not away; And easily is she saw those who love her, And found of those who seek her.
6:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ φθάνει τοὺς ἐπιθυμοῦντας προγνωσθῆναι
Clara est , et quæ numquam marcescit , sapientia : et facile videtur ab his qui diligunt eam , et invenitur ab his qui quærunt illam .
ወትበጽሕ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ይፈትውዋ ፡ ወትትኤመሮሙ ፡ ቅድመ ።
She forestalleth those who desire to know her, making herself first known.
6:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ ὀρθρίσας πρὸς αὐτὴν οὐ κοπιάσει πάρεδρον γὰρ εὑρήσει τῶν πυλῶν αὐτοῦ
Præoccupat qui se concupiscunt , ut illis se prior ostendat .
ወዘይገይሥ ፡ ኀቤሃ ፡ ኢይፃሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ይረክባ ፡ ወትረ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ትጸንሖ ፡ ውሰተ ፡ ኆኅቱ ።
He that rises up early to seek her will have no toil, For he will find her sitting at his gates.
6:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ τὸ γὰρ ἐνθυμηθῆναι περὶ αὐτῆς φρονήσεως τελειότης καὶ ὁ ἀγρυπνήσας δῑ αὐτὴν ταχέως ἀμέριμνος ἔσται
Qui de luce vigilaverit ad illam non laborabit ; assidentem enim illam foribus suis inveniet .
እስመ ፡ ሐሊዮ ፡ ኪያሃ ፡ ፍጻሜ ፡ አእምሮ ፡ ወዘተግሀ ፡ በእንቲአሃ ፡ ፍጡነ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ትካዝ ፡ ይከውን ።
For to think upon her is perfectness of understanding, And he that watches for her sake will quickly be free from care.
6:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι τοὺς ἀξίους αὐτῆς αὐτὴ περιέρχεται ζητοῦσα καὶ ἐν ταῖς τρίβοις φαντάζεται αὐτοῖς εὐμενῶς καὶ ἐν πάσῃ ἐπινοίᾳ ὑπαντᾷ αὐτοῖς
Cogitare ergo de illa sensus est consummatus , et qui vigilaverit propter illam cito securus erit .
እስመ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ይደልውዋ ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ትመጽእ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ተኃሥሦሙ ፡ ወበውስተ ፡ ፍኖትኒ ፡ ታስተርእዮሙ ፡ ሥእልታ ፡ ግብተ ፡ አዳመ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ ሕሊና ፡ ትትራከቦሙ ።
Because she goes about, herself seeking those who are worthy of her, And in their paths she appears to them graciously, And in every purpose she meets them.
6:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀρχὴ γὰρ αὐτῆς ἡ ἀληθεστάτη παιδείας ἐπιθυμία φροντὶς δὲ παιδείας ἀγάπη
Quoniam dignos se ipsa circuit quærens , et in viis ostendit se hilariter , et in omni providentia occurrit illis .
እስመ ፡ ቀዳሚ ፡ ተግሣፅ ፡ ህልው ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ፍትወታ ፡ ወአስተሐምሞ ፡ በተግሣፅ ፡ አፍቅሮታ ፡ ውእቱ ።
For her true beginning is desire of discipline; And the care for discipline is love of her;
6:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀγάπη δὲ τήρησις νόμων αὐτῆς προσοχὴ δὲ νόμων βεβαίωσις ἀφθαρσίας
Initium enim illius verissima est disciplinæ concupiscentia .
ወአፍቅሮታሂ ፡ ዓቂበ ፡ ሕገ ፡ ዚአሃ ፡ ወጠይቆ ፡ ኢሙስና ፡ ውእቱ ።
And love of her is observance of her laws; And to give heed to her laws confirmeth incorruption;
6:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀφθαρσία δὲ ἐγγὺς εἶναι ποιεῖ θεοῦ
Cura ergo disciplinæ dilectio est , et dilectio custodia legum illius est ; custoditio autem legum consummatio incorruptionis est ;
ወኢሙስናሂ ፡ ትሬሲ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ቅሩበ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
And incorruption brings near to God;
6:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐπιθυμία ἄρα σοφίας ἀνάγει ἐπὶ βασιλείαν
incorruptio autem facit esse proximum Deo .
ፍትወታኬ ፡ ለጥበብ ፡ ታዓርግ ፡ ኀበ ፡ መንግሥት ።
So then desire of wisdom promoteth to a kingdom.
6:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ οὖν ἥδεσθε ἐπὶ θρόνοις καὶ σκήπτροις τύραννοι λαῶν τιμήσατε σοφίαν ἵνα εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα βασιλεύσητε
Concupiscentia itaque sapientiæ deducit ad regnum perpetuum .
እመሰኬ ፡ ትፈትዉ ፡ መኳንንተ ፡ አሕዛብ ፡ መናብርተ ፡ ወሢመተ ፡ መወንግሥተ ፡ አክብርዋ ፡ ለጥበብ ፡ ከመ ፡ ለዓለም ፡ ትንግሡ ።
If therefore you⌃ delight in thrones and sceptres, you⌃ princes of peoples, Honor wisdom, that you⌃ may reign forever.
6:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ τί δέ ἐστιν σοφία καὶ πῶς ἐγένετο ἀπαγγελῶ καὶ οὐκ ἀποκρύψω ὑμῖν μυστήρια ἀλλὰ ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς γενέσεως ἐξιχνιάσω καὶ θήσω εἰς τὸ ἐμφανὲς τὴν γνῶσιν αὐτῆς καὶ οὐ μὴ παροδεύσω τὴν ἀλήθειαν
Si ergo delectamini sedibus et sceptris , o reges populi , diligite sapientiam , ut in perpetuum regnetis :
ወምንት ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ጥበብ ፡ ወእፎ ፡ ኮነት ፡ አነ ፡ አየድዐክሙ ፡ ወኢየሃብእ ፡ እምኔክሙ ፡ ምሥጢራቲሃ ፡ ክቡተ ።
But what wisdom is, and how she came into being, I will declare, And I will not hide mysteries from you; But I will trace her out from the beginning of creation, And bring the knowledge of her into clear light, And I will not pass by the truth;
6:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὔτε μὴν φθόνῳ τετηκότι συνοδεύσω ὅτι οὗτος οὐ κοινωνήσει σοφίᾳ
diligite lumen sapientiæ , omnes qui præestis populis .
ወባሕቱ ፡ አኃሥሥ ፡ እምጥንት ፡ ክዋኔሃ ፡ ወእሬሲ ፡ ክሡተ ፡ አእምሮታ ፡ ወኢይትዓደው ፡ ጽድቀ ፡ ወኢየሐውር ፡ በቅንአተ ፡ ሕመሜ ።
Neither indeed will I take pining envy for my companion in the way, Because envy will have no fellowship with wisdom.
6:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ πλῆθος δὲ σοφῶν σωτηρία κόσμου καὶ βασιλεὺς φρόνιμος εὐστάθεια δήμου
Quid est autem sapientia , et quemadmodum facta sit , referam , et non abscondam a vobis sacramenta Dei : sed ab initio nativitatis investigabo , et ponam in lucem scientiam illius , et non præteribo veritatem .
እስመ ፡ ዘከመዝሰ ፡ ኢይሳተፋ ፡ ለጥበብ ፡ እስመ ፡ ብዝኅ ፡ ጠበብት ፡ መድኃኒተ ፡ ዓለም ፡ ውእቱ ።
But a multitude of wise men is salvation to the world, And an understanding king is tranquillity to his people.
6:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὥστε παιδεύεσθε τοῖς ῥήμασίν μου καὶ ὠφεληθήσεσθε
Neque cum invidia tabescente iter habebo , quoniam talis homo non erit particeps sapientiæ .
ወንጉሥ ፡ ልብው ፡ ቃውም ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ተገሠፁኬ ፡ በቃልየ ፡ ወትረብኁ ።
Wherefore be disciplined by my words, and thereby will you⌃ profit.
