Psalms 52 — 4 originals side by side

Versification differs between traditions. Columns are aligned by verse number; where a text has no such verse the cell is left blank rather than forced into line. Tap any word for a gloss.

⚠️ The Chinese and English alongside are the CUV and the WEB, both translated from the Masoretic Text; they follow a different textual tradition from the Greek and Latin shown here and will disagree in places.
ℹ️ Some verses here have no matching verse in the public-domain translations (the Psalm superscriptions are not numbered verses in the CUV or the WEB). Those verses were translated by this site with AI (Claude), not taken from the WEB.

52:0
—
When Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, “David has come to the house of Ahimelech.”
52:1
Quid gloriaris in malitia, qui potens es in iniquitate ?
Why do you boast of mischief, mighty man? God’s loving kindness endures continually.
52:2
Tota die injustitiam cogitavit lingua tua ; sicut novacula acuta fecisti dolum.
Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
52:3
Dilexisti malitiam super benignitatem ; iniquitatem magis quam loqui aequitatem.
You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking the truth. Selah.
52:4
Dilexisti omnia verba praecipitationis ; lingua dolosa.
You love all devouring words, you deceitful tongue.
52:5
God will likewise destroy you forever. He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.
52:6
Videbunt justi, et timebunt ; et super eum ridebunt, et dicent :
The righteous also will see it, and fear, and laugh at him, saying,
52:7
“Behold, this is the man who didn’t make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.”
52:8
Ego autem, sicut oliva fructifera in domo Dei ; speravi in misericordia Dei, in aeternum et in saeculum saeculi.
But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in God’s house. I trust in God’s loving kindness forever and ever.
52:9
אוֹדְךָ֣ לְ֭עוֹלָם כִּ֣י עָשִׂ֑יתָ וַאֲקַוֶּ֥ה שִׁמְךָ֥ כִי־ט֝֗וֹב נֶ֣גֶד חֲסִידֶֽיךָ׃ {פ}
Confitebor tibi in saeculum, quia fecisti ; et exspectabo nomen tuum, quoniam bonum est in conspectu sanctorum tuorum.
I will give you thanks forever, because you have done it. I will hope in your name, for it is good, in the presence of your saints.
